MTG Pro Tour 2023: Full List of Dates, Cities

The MTG Pro Tour is a series of top-level competitions for Magic: The Gathering . It pits the best of the best against one another for huge cash prizes, as well as fame and glory in the trading card game community. Here are the details.
To enter the Pro Tour, players must first qualify via a Local Qualifier and a Regional Qualifier. These two events come together in the Pro Tour, where players from different regions play against one another in one massive event. The year is then capped off by the World Championship, which has a massive cash prize and the opportunity for the winner to be memorialized in an upcoming Magic card.

Here's how the 2022-2023 Pro Tour season will shake out according to the Magic Wiki:
In between each event is a Regional Championship that will allow players to qualify for the Pro Tour, in addition to finalists from previous Pro Tours. Lastly, the Magic World Championship will be held Sept. 22-24, 2023 at MagicCon Las Vegas, USA, marking the grand finale of the 2022-2023 Pro Tour season.

MTG Regional Championship standings for MagicCon Pro Tour Philadelphia
The first Magic: The Gathering tabletop Regional Championship tournaments rewarded top-scoring players with invites to the MagicCon Pro Tour in Philadelphia and even the 2023 World Championship.
Tabletop Magic for the 2022-2023 season officially kicked off on Nov. 19 with the first Regional Championships in North America, EMEA, and Brazil. The 2022-2023 roadmap features three Regional Championships per Magic season, feeding into the three Pro Tour tournaments prior to Worlds. Players earned invites to the tabletop tournaments through winning store qualifier tournaments, Magic Online qualifiers, and MTG Arena qualifiers. And Hall of Fame Magic players receive one Regional and one Pro Tour invite per season.
What is the schedule for the first 2022 MTG Regional Championships?
There are a total of 11 regions that host an MTG Regional Championship, providing direct invites to the Pro Tour in February and 2023 Magic Worlds seeds to winners. A second MTG World Championship seed was also given to players who finished second at the NA, EMEA, and Japan/Korea tournaments.
Here are the Regional Championship dates.
- Nov. 19 to 20 : NA, EMEA, and Brazil
- Nov. 26 to 27 : Japan/Korea, Australia/New Zealand, East Canada, and Southeast Asia
- Dec. 3 to 4 : Chinese Taipei, South America, and China
- Dec. 10 to 11 : West Canada
- Dec. 17 to 18 : Mexico/Central America/Caribbean
Nov. 19 to 20 MTG Regional Championship standings
A total of three regions had a Regional Championship tournament from Nov. 19 to 20. Each region awards a different number of players who advance to the Philadelphia Pro Tour, along with invites to a future Regional Championship and direct invites to the 2023 Magic World Championship. The format for the Regional Championships is Pioneer.
Dreamhack NA Regional Championship
The top 48 players at the DreamHack MTG Regional Championship earned invites to a future Regional Championship and the MagicCon Philadelphia Pro Tour. First and second place were also awarded direct invites to Worlds.
Matthew Saypoff faced off against Ken Takahama to win the DreamHack Showdown Regional Championship with Mono-White Humans. Both players earned invites to Worlds. The remaining top eight players were Eli Loveman, Daniel Kristoff, Michael Letsch, John Tatian, Chris Ferber, and Derrick Davis.
City Class Games Brazil Regional Championship
Winning the City Class Games MTG Brazil Regional Championship was Pedro Mocelin, playing Rakdos Midrange. Mocelin earned an invite to the Philadelphia Pro Tour.
EMEA Legacy European Regional Championship Sofia
The top 36 players at the Sofia Regional Championship earned an invite to the Pro Tour in Philadelphia, along with an invite to the next MTG Regional Championship.
Winning the tournament was Miguel Castro, playing Izzet Phoenix against Theau Mery on Azorius Control. Both players also earned direct invites to the 2023 Magic World Championship. The remaining top eight players were Ben Jones, Adriano Moscato, André Santos, Kacmaz Eren, Thierry Ramboa, and Adrien Houssard.

Magic: The Gathering's latest Pro Tour event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania concluded over the weekend, and the results of the tournament are now locked in. Here's what you need to know about the tournament meta and who's advancing to the next stage of Magic competition.

MTG Pro Tour MagicCon Philadelphia 2023 Winner
The champion of Magic's Pro Tour Philadelphia Pioneer tournament was Magic Hall of Famer Reid Duke, piloting his Izzet Creativity deck to victory against Benton Madsen and his Selesnya Auras deck.
Reid Duke's Izzet Creativity Deck
Duke's deck uses a card called Indomitable Creativity to "cheat" large creatures Worldspine Wurm and Xenagos, God of Revels into play and win the game instantly, a powerful combo that is difficult to stop.

Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour Phyrexia will take place in Philadelphia, USA at MagicCon Philadelphia on February 17–19, 2023.
The formats for Pro Tour Phyrexia are Phyrexia: All Will Be One Booster Draft and Pioneer Constructed.

The Pro Tour will take place in Ballroom A/B. The ballroom will be open to MagicCon Philadelphia attendees.
Invited Competitors
Pro Tour Phyrexia is an invitation-only tournament. The following competitors are invited to compete in Pro Tour Phyrexia :
- The Top 4 finishers at Magic World Championship XXVIII.
- The 32 competitors from Magic World Championship XXVIII.
- Top finishing competitors from each Pro Tour Phyrexia Regional Championship.
- New Capenna Championship competitors that finished with 27 or more match points.
- Competitors from each MTG Arena Qualifier Weekend with 7 wins that awarded invitations to MTG Arena Championship 2.
- The winner of the 2022 Magic Online Champions Showcase Season 1 tournament.
- The 8 competitors from the 2022 Magic Online Champions Showcase 2.
- Members of the Pro Tour Hall of Fame that selected Pro Tour Phyrexia as their once per season Pro Tour invitation benefit.
- Competitors that are otherwise invited to Pro Tour Phyrexia .

Competitor Information
Ballroom A/B will use the following, estimated hours of operation for Pro Tour Phyrexia :
- Thursday (Registration Only): Open from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
- Friday & Saturday: Hall opens at 8:00 AM and closes at the end of the last Swiss round.
- Sunday: Hall opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 7:00 PM
Note: The times on Thursday and the opening times on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are for Pro Tour competitors ONLY. The public will be able to enter the ballroom only when the show opens each day (10:00 AM).
Registration
In-person registration takes place from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2023. If you are unable to attend this registration session on Thursday, late registration will be available Friday morning from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM. Competitors should email [email protected] if they will not be attending the Thursday registration session.
Even though competitors will have registered for the tournament on MTGMelee prior to Thursday, competitors must still register on-site in order to confirm they are in Philadelphia, to undergo an ID check, and receive their complementary Pro Tour gifts.
For in-person registration, all competitors must present one of the following forms of identification:
- a driver’s license; or
- a passport; or
- a copy of a birth certification and photo ID (school IDs are acceptable)
Tournament Information
The Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules and Infraction & Penalty Guide are in effect for this tournament unless specifically overruled by information in this section.
Structure (Swiss Rounds)
- Friday: 3 rounds of Phyrexia: All Will Be One Booster Draft, followed by 5 rounds of Pioneer Constructed.
- Saturday: 3 rounds of Phyrexia: All Will Be One Booster Draft, followed by 5 rounds of Pioneer Constructed.
- 16 Swiss Rounds total, 50 minutes per round. Stalling and slow play rules will be strictly enforced.
- All competitors may participate in all 8 Swiss rounds of Friday’s competition.
- Competitors with 12 or more match points after Round 8 will advance to Saturday’s portion of the competition.
- Whenever a competitor reaches 12 match wins, they immediately advance to the Top 8 playoff and are removed from future pairings in Swiss rounds.
- The round in which a competitor received their 12th win.
- Their OMW%, GW%, and OGW% as of the round in which they receive their 12th match win.
- Seeding for the Top 8 playoff is locked after each round in which a competitor reaches their 12th win.
- The top 8 competitors after Round 16 will advance to Sunday’s single-elimination playoff rounds.
Structure (Playoff Rounds)
- Playoff rounds will use a traditional, single-elimination bracket.
- Playoff rounds will run in the Pioneer Constructed format.
- All playoff matches will be best 3 out of 5. The first two games played in each playoff match are pre-sideboard games. After Game 2 is completed, competitors may exchange cards from their deck for cards in their sideboard.
- Standings after the Swiss rounds will be used to determine final order in the standings for losing competitors in the quarterfinal and semifinal playoff rounds.
- While there are no time limits in the playoff rounds, competitors are expected to play at a reasonable pace and finish their matches within 90 minutes.
- For the first game of each match in the playoff rounds, the competitor that finished higher in the Swiss rounds chooses either to play first or to play second. For subsequent games in each playoff match, the usual Play/Draw rule applies (loser of the previous game decides whether to play first in the next game).
- 8:55 a.m. - Seating for competitor meeting and Draft 1 posted
- 9:00 a.m. - Competitor meeting begins
- 9:05 a.m. - Draft 1 Begins
- 8:55 a.m. - Seating for competitor meeting and Draft 2 posted
- 9:05 a.m. - Draft 2 Begins
- 8:15 a.m. - Top 8 competitor check-in
- 9:00 a.m. - Quarterfinals begin
Other Items
- Rules Enforcement Level: Professional
- Competitors are required to use the same Pioneer deck for Day 1, Day 2, and the Top 8 playoff
- Competitors are responsible for knowing all tournament rules
- Competitors are responsible for bringing their own appropriate counters and tokens
All competitors that finish Pro Tour Phyrexia with 27 or more match points will be invited to the next Pro Tour in the 2022-2023 Season.
There is a $500,000 prize pool which will be awarded to competitors based on their final standing in the tournament. All prizes displayed in U.S Dollars. Prizes subject to change.
