How To Fix A Missing Safari Icon On iPhone Or iPad
Safari is built into iOS and cannot be removed from your iPhone or iPad (except when the device has been jailbroken), but it can go missing from the home screen. If it does, it's often easy enough to locate it.
You can usually find it with the Spotlight — swipe down on the home screen and search "safari." Sometimes a user will tuck Safari into a cluttered folder where the icon can get lost. To find it, you just have to look for it.
Suppose you always launch the app from the App Library, and the Safari icon is missing. In that case, it's possible the browser was accidentally deleted from the App Library — a space where all apps are auto-organized into tidy folders. You can hide an app from the Home Screen when it's being moved to the App Library. When it's also deleted from the Library, the icon can go missing.
But what's more likely is that the restriction features in iOS are hiding Safari from you. Parental controls or Screen Time management can hide Safari from view, according to Apple .
How to bring the missing Safari icon back
Before reconfiguring the restriction features on your iPhone or iPad, try resetting the Home Screen. The Safari icon may be hidden, not the app itself. Here's what Apple recommends.
- Open Settings.
- Find and tap General.
- Select Transfer or Reset iPhone .
- Select Reset.
- Select Reset Home Screen Layout.
- Select Reset Home Screen.
Resetting the Home Screen sends all app icons back to their original slots.
If you still can't see Safari, Screen Time is hiding the app from you. Screen Time is a feature that limits how much time you're allowed on a particular app. It's protected with a PIN (that's supposed to be different from the password that unlocks your iPhone or iPad).
You can either disable Screen Time entirely, or just safelist Safari.
- Tap Screen Time.
- Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Enter your passcode.
- Tap Allowed Apps.
- Enable the switch next to Safari to allow it.
To disable the feature entirely, you can also toggle off the switch next to Content & Privacy Restrictions.

Contrary to what we might initially fear, it’s often a small error with a simple fix; the icon has probably not vanished forever. We know that Safari is integral to the iPhone experience, serving as the gateway to the internet for iOS users. Losing this icon can disrupt our browsing habits, and finding it missing can cause unnecessary stress. More often than not, the icon hasn’t been deleted—it’s just been misplaced or hidden due to a recent update, a mistaken drag-and-drop, or a restriction setting that’s been turned on accidentally. Our first instinct might be to panic, but we need to take a pause and explore the simple solutions available. Troubleshooting Safari Icon Visibility
When the Safari icon goes missing on an iPhone, it doesn’t mean the app is deleted. It could be hidden on a different Home Screen, within a folder, or the settings might have changed. Here are steps to get it back.
Check All Folders and Screens
Sometimes, we reorganize apps without noticing. Safari could easily be tucked away in a folder. Check any folders that exist by tapping them and inspecting their contents.
Use Spotlight Search to Locate Safari
Using Spotlight Search is a quick way to determine if Safari is still on your iPhone. If the app appears in the results, it has not been deleted and is merely hidden somewhere in your layout.
Inspect Content & Privacy Restrictions
If you’ve ruled out accidental deletion or misplacement, it’s time to check if restrictions were applied.
This setting can prevent Safari from appearing on the Home Screen. If it’s disabled in the restrictions, simply toggle it back to regain visibility of the Safari icon.
These steps will cover the vast majority of scenarios when the Safari icon seems to disappear. However, if you’re still unable to locate or access Safari after following these tips, it might be worth exploring other more complex IT support routes or potentially seeking help from Apple.
Resetting Home Screen Layout
When the Safari app disappears from your iPhone, resetting your Home Screen layout is a quick and effective method to retrieve it. This process can declutter your Home Screen and restore the original settings.
Reset Home Screen to Default
In the event of a missing Safari icon, we can return our iPhone’s Home Screen layout to its default configuration. Here’s how we do it:
By selecting ‘Reset Home Screen Layout,’ our iPhone will revert to its original state, which means apps like Safari will return to their default locations. Ensure any customized folders or app placements will also be reset.
Restart iPhone to Refresh Layout
Sometimes we must restart our iPhone to effectuate changes or solve minor software issues:
Restarting can refresh your Home Screen layout and may bring back the Safari icon. If the reset is unsuccessful, ensure that iOS is up-to-date or check if Safari is not restricted in your settings.
Restoring Safari App and Data
We often rely on the Safari app for daily browsing, but what happens when Safari disappears from our iPhone? Here’s how to ensure that your browsing data remains intact and how to restore the Safari app if it has been accidentally deleted.
Recovering Accidentally Deleted Safari App
Step 1: Open the App Store and tap on the Search tab at the bottom.
Step 2: Type “Safari” in the search bar. Check if the app appears with a cloud icon, which indicates it’s not currently installed on your iPhone.
Step 3: Tap the cloud icon to redownload the Safari app.
Restoring iPhone from Backup
By trusting these steps, our experience with technology can be seamless and stress-free. If complications arise, Apple Support is always available to assist with restoring our devices and retrieving our valuable information.

Just like Mail and Messages, Safari is a part of the app package that comes pre-installed on iOS and macOS. Safari is also the default browser on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Hence, you cannot Offload or delete Safari unlike a few other pre-loaded apps on iOS such as GarageBand, iMovie, Pages, and Keynote.
In case, Safari is missing from your iPhone then you might be looking to reinstall it. Well, you can’t reinstall Safari on iPhone because the app is already there on your iPhone or iPad. Moreover, you cannot update Safari from the App Store as it updates automatically when there is an iOS update.
That said if you can’t find Safari on your iOS device then you shouldn’t worry. The app is intact on your iPhone with all the settings and data including browsing data and logins. Possibly, Safari isn’t appearing just because you accidentally removed it from your home screen, moved it to an app folder, or disabled the app at some point in time.

How to Get Safari Back on iPhone 13
The iPhone has long included a number of default apps that let you use the basic functionality of the device. This includes things like a Settings app, Phone app, Camera app, Messages, Mail, and Safari, the Apple default Web browser.
For a while, you weren’t able to hide or delete these default apps at all, but Apple has gotten a little more flexible with this in recent versions of iOS.
Some of the default apps can be uninstalled, such as GarageBand, while others can simply be moved to different locations. This is one of the more effective ways to save space on an iPhone or iPad, as some of these apps can be quite large.
The Safari browser is one of the apps that can’t be uninstalled, but it is possible to remove it from the Home screen. This still lets you access it from the App Library by tapping a link or searching for it, but you may wish to restore it to the Home screen.
Our tutorial below will show you how to get Safari back on the iPhone Home screen so that you can more easily access it to browse Web pages on the Internet.
How to Add Safari to the Home Screen from the iPhone App Library
- Swipe to the left until you reach the App Library.
- Tap and hold on the Safari icon.
- Select the Add to Home Screen option.
Our guide continues below with additional information on getting Safari back on the iPhone, including pictures of these steps.
If you would like to start using the stored history on your iPhone to improve your browsing experience, then our Safari history iPhone article can show you how.
How to Restore Safari to the iPhone Home Screen (Guide with Pictures)
The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 13 in iOS 15. This guide assumes that you have removed the Safari app from the Home screen and would like to restore it to its previous location. We will be navigating to the App Library which is where you can find all the apps on the edevice.
Note that your Safari browser data will remain on the device even if you have removed the Safari iPhone icon from the Home screen.
Step 1: Navigate to the App Library . It’s the rightmost Home screen.
You can get to the App Library by repeatedly swiping to the left on the Home screen.
Step 2: Tap and hold on the Safari icon.
If you haven’t rearranged the apps in the App Library then it will likely be in a folder labeled “Utilities.”
Step 3: Select the Add to Home Screen option.
If this does not restore the Safari app to your iPhone’s Home screen, then there may be something else affecting the app. Our guide continues below with some potential solutions to this problem, including working with Screen Time and searching for the app in the App Store.
How to Move the Address Bar Back to the Top in the Safari Browser on an iPhone
In versions of iOS before iOS 15, the address bar was at the top of the screen in the Safari app.
However, iOS 15 moved it to the bottom. This has the added benefit of giving you the option to swipe between your tabs, but you may not like this change.
Fortunately, you can restore the address bar to the top of the screen like in previous versions of Safari.
- Open Settings .
- Choose Safari .
- Select Single Tab under Tabs .
Now when you go back to Safari, you should be able to enter search terms and Web addresses at the top of the screen instead of the bottom, like you used to be able to do in iOS 14 and earlier.
How to Delete the Safari App from an iPhone Home Screen
While we have focused on getting the Safari app back on the Home screen in this article, you may be wondering how it got deleted in the first place. You can delete Safari from the Home screen on your iPhone by tapping and holding on the Safari app, then choosing the Remove App option. For Safari and other default apps, you will then see a pop up where you need to tap Remove from Home Screen .
This is the same method that you can use to delete other apps on your iPhone. However, for apps that actually can be deleted, there is going to be a Delete App option on the pop-up where you could only remove the Safari app from the Home screen.
How to Change Screen Time Settings on iPhone
It’s possible to hide Safari on an iPhone by disabling it via the Screen Time menu on the device. If this has happened, then you will need to know the Screen Time passcode to restore.
- Choose Screen Time .
- Select Content & Privacy Restrictions .
- Tap Allowed Apps .
- Enter the Screen Time passcode.
- Turn on Safari .
Conversely, if you are trying to hide or block the Safari app on the device, then you can go to this menu and turn off the Safari option to hide it.
Note that anyone with the Screen Time passcode for this device will be able to hide or Safari at will. Therefore the passcode should be different than the one that is used to sign in to the device.
How to Reset Home Screen Layout on iPhone 13
One other way that you can get the Safari app icon back on the iPhone’s Home screen is to reset the home screen layout on the device. You can do this with the following steps.
- Choose General .
- Select Transfer or Reset iPhone .
- Touch Rese t.
- Tap Reset Home Screen Layout .
- Choose Reset Home Screen .
This will restore all of the default apps to their original locations and will add all of your third-party apps after them in alphabetical order.
If you have other problems with the device and simply wish to complete the Restore iPhone procedure, then it’s possible to get it back to factory default settings. To do this, you will choose to Erase All Content and Settings from that menu instead, but that is going to essentially restore your iPhone to its factory settings, so it’s best not to complete that action unless you have tried everything else and are willing to go through the process of setting your iPhone up again.
You can perform a factory reset on your iPhone by following the directions in the following section if you’ve been trying to fix issues with it but would rather start from scratch.
How to Reset an iPhone to Factory Settings
The vast majority of iPhone models and iOS operating system updates are compatible with the guidelines in this section.
In this tutorial , you can get more details on how to factory reset an iPhone 11.
Your iPhone 11 will be reset to its factory settings after you erase all of its data and settings. You may need to reset your iPhone 11 for a number of reasons, such as selling or gifting it or if you are experiencing software problems that can’t be resolved any other way. We’ll walk you through the quick process of factory resetting an iPhone 11 in this article.
Back up your data before doing a factory reset. This crucial step involves performing a factory reset, which deletes all data, including apps, pictures, contacts, and personal settings. You may backup your iPhone 11 using either iCloud or iTunes , depending on your preferences.
To reset your iPhone 11 to factory settings, adhere to the following steps:
Step 1: Launch the “Settings” software first.
Step 2: The next action is to choose “General.”
Step 3: Click the “Transfer or Reset iPhone” button at the bottom of the page.
Step 4: From the menu, choose “Erase All Content and Settings”.
Step 5: Enter your passcode.
Following your selection of “Erase All Content and Settings,” you will be prompted to enter your passcode. This method makes sure that only people in positions of power can do a factory reset.
Step 6: You must confirm your choice in this step.
A pop-up box will appear after you input your passcode and ask you if you are certain you want to wipe all data and settings. Decide what to do by clicking “Erase Now.”
Step 7: Watch for the procedure to be completed.
The quantity of data on your iPhone 11 affects how long it takes to conduct a factory reset. Your iPhone 11 will restart during this time and show the Apple logo.
Step 8: Reset your iPhone 11 or restore from a backup.
Your iPhone 11 will restart after you’ve finished the factory reset and ask you if you want to set it up from scratch or restore it from a backup. You can utilize a data backup to restore your iPhone 11 if you have one.

More Information on How to Get Safari Back on iPhone 13
One useful action that you can take when something weird or unexpected occurs on your iPhone is to reboot it. You can do this by holding the volume up and the Power button at the same time, then swiping the Slide to Power Off slider to the right. It will take a few seconds for the device to power down, then you can hold down the Power button to turn it back on.
If, somehow, you did manage to uninstall the Safari app, then you can simply reinstall Safari from the App Store like you would with any other app. You can do this if you open App Store > Search > type “safari” into the search bar and select it, then tap the download icon. This method to reinstall Safari app is slightly different than installing a new app because you’ve already “purchased” the Safari app.
If the Safari app is still installed on the device, then there will be an “Open” button next to it when you search for it in the App Store.
You can also search for the Safari app on your iPhone or iOS device by swiping down on your Home screen, which will open Spotlight Search. You can then type “safari” into the search box and select Safari from the list of search results.
When you tap and hold on the Safari icon, there is an Edit Home Screen option on the pop-up menu. If you choose that, there will be a small minus icon at the top-left of the Safari icon, which also lets you remove the Safari app from the Home screen.
If you have changed the default Web browser on your iPhone to something other than Safari and would like to make it Safari again, then follow these steps.
- Select Default Browser App .
- Tap Safari .
Now any link that you tap should open in Safari instead of whatever was previously set as the default.
The number of dots at the bottom of the Home screen indicates the number of Home screens on your device. This is the number of times that you will need to swipe left to reach the App Library.
Another way to restore the device is to connect iPhone to your computer, which will launch iTunes. There you can make selections for the iPhone from the left sidebar menu, including restoring it to factory defaults or restoring backup files saved through iTunes.

How to Put Safari Back in the Dock at Bottom of iPhone or iPad Home Screen
This has happened to many iPhone and iPad users; in some way or another, you have deleted your Safari app icon from the Dock on your Home Screen, and you want it back. Of course, deleting something is much easier than putting it back; after all, when you removed it, you knew where it was. This article will explain how to return your Safari icon to your Dock or Home Screen.
On your iPhone or iPad, the Safari icon is what you tap on in order to open your Safari browser. For many people, their browser is one of their most used apps, and so they like to keep their browser icon in a convenient place. You may have removed the icon by accident, or maybe you were trying out another browser like Firefox or Chrome. Whatever the case, we’ll show you how to get your Safari icon back.
Finding your Safari app icon
Generally, there are a couple of possibilities when you can’t find an app on your device:
- You deleted the app from your iPhone (iPad).
- You put the app icon on another page or removed it from the Home Screen.
However, some Apple apps like Safari can not be deleted from your iPhone or iPad. For Apple apps that can be deleted , you can download and reinstall them from the App Store .
Safari and all of the other apps currently installed on your iPhone or iPad, whether they are on your Home Screen or not, can be found in your App Library .
Putting Safari back
Here is how to get Safari from the App Library:
- On your iPhone or iPad, swipe left on your Home Screen pages until you get to the last page. Swipe left again to see your App Library.
- In the search field, type Safari .
- Tap on Add to Home Screen .
- If you have space in the Dock, Safari will appear there. Otherwise, Safari will appear on one of your Home Screens.
- Your right-most Home Screen will appear. If you want to drop it on one of your Home Screen pages, just keep dragging it until you get to the desired spot on the page, then release it.
- If you want it in your Dock at the bottom of your screen, drag it down to the Dock, position it where you would like and release.
- To reposition Safari, press and hold on the icon until all icons begin to wiggle. Then you can drag Safari to the desired location. Tap Done in the top-right corner of your screen.
The apps on your iPhone or iPad can be deleted, removed from the Home Screen or hidden (you can even hide entire Home Screen pages if you want to). If you need to recover deleted apps for your device, you should be able to download them again from the App Store (assuming they are still available).

Safari Not Working on Your iPhone? Here’s How to Fix It
Although iPhones and iPads support other apps to reach the Web, Safari remains the most favored and frequently used browser for iOS users. Troubleshooting on Safari can be frustrating, especially if its issues prevent you from searching for a solution online. Here are a few common reasons why Safari may not be working on your iPhone and how to fix the problems.
Turn on Mobile Data for the Safari App
Disable experimental features, change your network settings.
Also read: How to Make Mobile Safari Save Your Passwords on iOS
Test Your Internet Connection
To begin with, ensure that the problem is with Safari and not with your internet connection. For this, open, say, a non-Apple app like Facebook or Chrome, and see whether the website or the feed loads. If it does, then Safari is at fault. Otherwise, your internet connection is at fault. If it’s the former, move on to the next step.
If you’ve been exploring your iPhone’s data-saving features, which let you specify which apps have access to your phone’s mobile data, then there’s a chance that you turned off mobile data for the Safari app. That means Safari will work when you’re connected to Wi-Fi but not to mobile data. (Try running Safari over Wi-Fi to test this.)
If that’s the case, then to turn mobile data back on for Safari, go to “Settings -> Mobile Data,” and then in the “Mobile Data” list, make sure the slider next to Safari is in the green “On” position.

You may not know about this, but Safari for the iPhone has a whole load of experimental features that you can disable and enable as you please.
The problem with these, as the name suggests, is that they are indeed experimental and subsequently don’t all work properly. Disabling them one by one can fix Safari if it’s not working and help you discover which exact feature was causing the problem,
On your iPhone, go to “Settings -> Safari -> Advanced -> Experimental Features.”
If you have more than one feature enabled here, disable just one, then check to see if Safari works normally again. If it doesn’t, re-enable that feature (if you want it) and disable the next one. Keep repeating this procedure until Safari starts working again.

Try resetting your Wi-Fi connection and reconnecting to the network.
- Go to “Settings -> Wi-Fi” and turn it off, then turn it back on after a few seconds.
- If you’re using mobile data, go to “Settings -> Mobile Data” and turn “Mobile Data” off and back on after a few seconds.
- If neither option works, go to “Settings -> Wi-Fi,” connect to a different Wi-Fi network, and try loading the web page again.
If the problem persists, try restoring your network settings to their original configuration.
- Go to “Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset” and choose “Reset Network Settings.”

Common Problems With Safari And How To Solve Them
By following the fixes we’ve mentioned above, you should be able to revive Safari and make it work normally again. However, there are some specific issues that commonly come up with Safari. Here’s how to solve them.
Problem: Safari Crashed and Won’t Open
If you’ve ever panicked after Safari closed unexpectedly and couldn’t get the app to start, you probably encountered a bug that affects Safari’s search engine suggestions. This issue can cause the app to crash, freeze, or fail to start altogether. Although the bug usually plagues devices running iOS 10, it can affect just about any iPhone or iPad.
How to Fix It: Disable Search Engine Suggestions
Go to “Settings” and choose “Safari” in your list of apps. Here, find “Search Engine Suggestions” and turn it off.
This feature offers suggestions for what you can search for as you type into Safari’s search bar. Disabling it gets rid of the problem for many users.
Problem: Safari Is Gray (and Won’t Open)
Sometimes when you update your iPhone’s iOS to a newer version, you may encounter a bug that turns some apps gray and prevent them from opening. This bug causes Safari to stop working and turns its icon gray when you switch to another app while Safari is running in the background.
How to Fix It: Update Your Software
To solve this problem, update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. Apple includes important bug fixes in each software update, so it’s important to keep your iPhone or iPad up to date. iOS 11.1 fixed this bug for most users, so be sure to update to 11.1 or greater if you’re running an older version of iOS.
Go to “Settings -> General,” choose “Software Update,” and install the latest update.

Problem: Safari Is Slow
As powerful as your iPhone can be, it can get bogged down with all the extraneous information that it processes. If you notice that Safari takes longer to load pages or graphics, it may be time to do some housekeeping. Try clearing your browser history, website data, and cache to make Safari run more smoothly.
How to Fix It: Clear Your Data
To delete your cookies, cache, and browsing history, go to “Settings -> Safari,” choose “Clear History and Data,” and confirm that you want to go ahead. Safari will remember your AutoFill information if you choose this option.
To keep your browsing history but clear your cache and cookies, first go to “Settings -> Safari -> Advanced.”
There, choose “Website Data -> Remove All Website Data” and tap “Remove Now.” Note that Safari will not remember your AutoFill information if you choose this option.
To remove only a portion of your browsing history, cache, and cookies, start by opening Safari and tapping the Bookmark icon. Here, open your history and tap “Clear.” Now Safari will give you the option to clear your history, cookies, and browsing data from the past hour, the past day, the past 48 hours, or from your entire history. Pick the relevant option.
Problem: Safari Still Isn’t Working
Although it sounds cliche, turning your phone off and back on again can be the solution to any number of Safari-related issues.
How to Fix It: Restart Safari or Reboot Your Phone
If none of the previous fixes help solve your problem, try restarting the app or rebooting your phone.
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and press on the screen when your finger is near the center to open the multitasking view, and then swipe up on Safari to close it. This will reset Safari.
- To shut down your phone, press and hold the sleep/wake button until a slider appears. Slide to the right to power off your phone. For iPhone X and above, press and hold the side button and one of the volume buttons until the slider appears. Then slide it to the right to power off your phone.

One of the quickest ways to find the Safari app is to use Search on your iPhone.
Step 1: Swipe down from the middle of your iPhone's home screen.
Step 2: A search bar will appear. Touch it and enter "Safari" in the search field. As the search results get updated in real-time, you will get suggestions as you type in the field.
Step 3: If you want to see more results, you can tap "Show More" . If the Safari app is hidden in any folder, the folder name will appear.
2 Disable Restrictions on Safari
If Safari disappeared from iPhone, you might have restricted it in the Settings. You can easily recover it through some simple steps.
Step 1: Launch Settings of your device and choose Screen Time .
Step 2: Tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions and enter the passcode if asked.
Step 3: If this function is turned on, then tap on Allowed Apps . In the whole list of apps displayed, locate Safari and make sure it is set to "ON" so that all the restrictions imposed on Safari will be removed.
After those steps, Safari will be back on the Home screen again.
Step 1: Connect iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes.
Step 2: Click on the iPhone icon, then tap on Summary in the left sidebar menu.
Step 3: In this section, hit the button "Restore iPhone…" . After that you will find the Safari icon back on your iPhone.
3 Reset Home Screen
If you still can't find Safari on iPhone, there is another method you can opt for. Trying to reset the home screen and getting the home screen layout to the original status will help you get back the app icon.
Step 1: Open Settings, tap on General and then Reset .
Step 2: From the list of options, choose "Reset Home Screen Layout" .
Step 3: After that, all the apps will go back to their default positions on the home screen and then you can easily find Safari.
4 Restart Your iPhone/iPad
When you have done everything to get the Safari app icon back to your Home screen and if still, it does not reappear, then restart your iPhone and check.
For iPhone 8 or later models: Press the volume up and down button, then keep holding the power button down till Apple logo turns up on your screen.
For iPhone 7 or 7 Plus: Hold down the volume down button along with power button till the Apple logo flashes on your screen.

Two Official Methodsto Recover LostSafari History or Bookmarks [Data Loss]
If you have backed up your device regularly, then you can recover the lost Safari data from iTunes or iCloud backup adopting the official methods. But there are indeed some obvious drawbacks one cannot ignore.
Restore from iTunes Backup
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the computer and open iTunes.
Step 2: Click "Restore Backup..." in the Summary section. Choose the most recent backup and click "Restore" . Keep the device connected until the process is completed.
Restore from iCloud Backup
Step 1: Navigate to Settings > General > Reset and select "Erase All Contents and Settings" .
Step 2: Your iPhone will restart. Remember that on the Apps & Data screen, tap on "Restore from iCloud Backup" .
Step 3: Choose the backup which contains the lost Safari data and start restoring.
- Restoring iTunes backup to your device will replace all current data on your device . Meanwhile, you are not allowed to preview the backup content so you may choose the wrong one to restore.
- If you want to restore iCloud backup, you need to firstly erase all your contents and settings , which will make them unrecoverable. Like that of iTunes, you are not allowed to preview any of the iCloud backup content either.
When you find that Safari disappeared from iPhone, you can try the commonmethods in part 2 to put Safari back. As for recovering the lost Safari history or bookmarks, iMyFone D-Back is undoubtedly the best choice.

Why Is Safari So Slow on iPhone & iPad
What to know.
- Why is Safari so slow lately? You may have a weak cellular or Wi-Fi signal or too many tabs open.
- If Safari is slow still, open the Safari app, touch and hold the tabs icon, and tap Close All (#) Tabs.
- You can also open Settings, tap General, Transfer or Reset iPhone, Reset, Reset Network Settings.
Why is Safari so slow on my iPhone? If Safari is slow to load, you may have too many tabs open or not enough iPad or iPhone storage available. There are a few other ways to fix Safari acting slow, too. Read on to find out!
Check Your Internet Speed
Close all safari tabs, clear browsing history and data, check iphone or ipad storage, reset network settings.
You need a strong Wi-Fi or cellular connection on your iPhone or iPad, or Safari will run slowly. To check your Wi-Fi or cellular connection, look at the symbols at the top-right of your screen.
The four vertical bars represent your iPhone's cellular connection. The more bars are white, the stronger the connection. If only one or no bars are white, Safari will run extremely slowly or not at all. You may also see 5G, 4G, or 3G, depending on your iPhone model, and whether or not your cellular carrier offers those speeds. If you're relying on your cellular connection alone for your internet connection, Safari may still be slow if the network is congested or you've used or almost used up your data for the month.
The pie slice-shaped icon to the right of the cellular connection bars represents your iPhone's Wi-Fi signal. The more white bars you see, the stronger your connection. If you aren't connected to a Wi-Fi network or are out of range of the network you are connected to, you'll see LTE instead. This means that your iPhone is relying on its cellular connection to browse the web.
If you think there's a problem with your cellular connection, we have a troubleshooting article on what to do if your data is not working on your iPhone or iPad. We also have an article about how to fix it if your Wi-Fi is slow .

If Safari is running slowly, it may be because you have too many tabs open. Close all Safari tabs and see if Safari speeds up! If you regularly leave multiple tabs open, you can set Safari tabs to close automatically on a regular schedule.

Safari browser slow still? Read on!
If Safari is slow after the previous steps, check your iPad or iPhone storage and optimize storage if needed. There's no hard and fast rule for how much storage should be free, but I've found that keeping roughly 25% of my storage free keeps things running quickly and smoothly.
Safari loading slowly still? There's one more thing to try!
There's one more thing to try if you want to make Safari run faster: reset your network settings.

- Can you tell me what to do when Safari says Safari cannot open the page? Yes, we can help you fix that! We have a troubleshooting article on how to fix the "Safari cannot open the page" error message. Solutions include removing extensions, clearing your Safari cache, and more.
- Why is my Google search not working? If you're having trouble with Google not showing search results , close and reopen the app, and make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi or cellular connection. You can also make sure the app is updated, reboot your iPhone, and more.

I discovered it totally by accident a while back, but its usefulness is limited. It only works with Messages, for one thing. For another, the length of the snippet you can send is pretty short, so you have to hope the key point you want to highlight is concisely worded. Still, it's a cool feature for certain things.

Your Guide to Private Browsing in Safari
Private browsing is often misunderstood, but it can be a helpful feature if you know what’s what.
Quick Links
What private browsing does in safari, how to use safari private browsing on iphone and ipad, how to use safari private browsing on a mac, how to disable safari private browsing on iphone and ipad, how to disable safari private browsing on a mac, key takeaways.
- Private Browsing in Safari hides browsing history, autofill details, downloads, and locks tabs after inactivity.
- Safari on Mac groups private and non-private tabs, while on iPhone it shows all tabs regardless of mode.
- To use Private Browsing in Safari, identify it by a dark address bar, "Private" indicator, or "Private" next to the site URL.
Most browsers offer a private browsing mode that aims to keep the websites you view off the record. But what exactly does it do in Safari and how do you get the best out of it?
First and foremost, Private Browsing keeps the website pages you visit out of your History . The aim is to prevent someone else from seeing which pages you have visited if they have access to your phone or computer.
In Safari, Private Browsing does a lot more than just hide URLs. It also:
- Prevents recent searches from showing up in your history.
- Stops remembering details you enter in forms for autofill.
- Keeps downloaded items from appearing in your Downloads list.
- Locks private tabs after a period of inactivity.
- Adds tracking and fingerprinting protection.
However, it’s important to note that Private Browsing does not stop you from being tracked altogether. Websites you visit will still be able to use various methods to track you, and will still have access to all data that you send them.
On macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, Safari groups private tabs together, and separates them from non-private tabs. On Mac, each Safari window is either private or non-private, and can have as many tabs as you want.
On iPhone, you can switch between private and non-private modes, each of which shows all tabs belonging to that mode.
You can spot when you’re viewing a private tab with these signs:
- The address bar has a dark background. This may be less noticeable if you’re using Dark Mode .
- On Mac, you’ll see a prominent Private indicator in the title bar.
- On iPhone, you’ll see Private alongside the site URL at the bottom of your screen.
The steps to enter Private Browsing mode are nearly identical on an iPhone and iPad. The only difference is that the tab icon is at the bottom of the screen on iOS and the top on iPadOS.
- Long-press the tab icon (two overlapping pages) on the bottom-right (iPhone) or top-right (iPad) of your screen.
- Tap the New Private Tab menu item.
- If locked, enter your passcode to unlock Private Browsing.
You can enter Private Browsing mode on macOS using either a menu item or a keyboard shortcut:
- Open the File menu and choose New Private Window .
- Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Cmd + n .
- Use the browser as you normally would. Any tabs you open from this window will open in the same window, in private mode.
You may want to prevent users of an iPhone or iPad from using Private Browsing mode at all. To do so:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on Screen Time .
- Under RESTRICTIONS , click on Content & Privacy Restrictions .
- If not already enabled, press the toggle next to Content & Privacy Restrictions to enable.
- Tap Content Restrictions .
- Change the Web Content setting to Limit Adult Websites .
The option to enter private mode will now be gone.
On macOS, the wording of certain options differs slightly, but the overall process is near-identical to iOS:
- Open System Settings via the Apple menu.
- Click on Screen Time in the left panel.
- Under the Restrictions section, click on Content & Privacy .
- Click Content Restrictions .
- Change the Access to Web Content setting to Limit Adult Websites .
Private Browsing will now be unavailable in Safari, although any existing private windows will stay open.
Of course, anyone can re-enable Private Browsing using the same process, in reverse. However, you can use Screen Time’s Lock Screen Time Settings option to set a passcode and enforce the setting permanently.
How to Close All Your Open iPhone Browser Tabs at Once
I f you're someone who has a lot of browser tabs open on your iPhone, you probably get the itch to close them all out once in a while—all those open tabs can slow your phone down and affect its battery life. It can be tedious to close each individual tab, but there's an easy shortcut to close all open tabs at once in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
How to close all Safari tabs on iPhone
To close all your tabs in Safari, open up the browser; on the bottom bar in the right corner, you should see an icon that looks like two squares. That's the Tabs icon to let you easily switch between all your tabs. Press and hold on to the Tabs icon until a pop-up appears—one of the options on that list should say Close All [X] tabs. Tap on it and then tap Close All [X] tabs option that appears.
How to close all Chrome tabs on iPhone
To do so in Google Chrome, open up the app on your phone; tap the Tabs icon (it should look like a square) on the bottom toolbar. Then on the Tabs screen, select Edit in the bottom left corner, and choose Close All Tabs .
How to close all Firefox tabs on iPhone
For Firefox, open up the app and select the square Tabs icon. Your open Tabs should appear on the screen; on the bottom left of this screen, you should see a trash can icon. Press and hold on to the trash can icon and tap Close All Tabs .
How to close all Edge tabs on iPhone
To close your open tabs in Microsoft Edge, open the app. At the bottom, you should see a toolbar and a square box with a number (the number of how many tabs you have open)—that's the Tabs icon. Press and hold on the tabs icon, and you'll get an option to close all tabs. Another pop-up will appear to confirm you want to close them all out.

Outlook on IPhone via Safari search engine. Missing emails
Hi. I access my email via my iPhone on the safari search engine. I visit the Microsoft website and sign in that way. Since yesterday I’m only receiving about half of my emails. They come up normally and then sometimes a pop up will appear at the top of the screen that says “other” and will list how many “other” emails I have. When I click on the pop up it takes me to a seperate (unlisted) folder which shows all my ‘missing’ emails but none of my ‘main’ emails. I have not selected the focused email option. Nor have I changed any of my settings. This has just randomly started happening. When I access my emails on my laptop via the Microsoft website they all seem to be normal, listed in order of when I received them and they are all there. No pop up .
Please help me get my emails back to normal

Hello! CMH227799
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community
it seems to me that you're experiencing issues with your Outlook emails on your iPhone. It sounds like the "other" folder you're seeing is the Clutter folder, which is designed to help you focus on important emails by moving less important emails to a separate folder.
Allow me to ask:
Is this happening with other devices, browsers, and networks?
Is there any error message? Please provide us a screenshot for us to better understand the issue.
Have you tried signing in and signing out?
May I know how do you access your emails? is it through Outlook.com (web)? Outlook application (included in Microsoft 365 subscription)? New Outlook for Windows? Classic Outlook for Windows (Windows Mail app)? Outlook application for mobiles?
What version and edition of Office do you have installed in your device? Example: Personal/Family/Enterprise?
You can open any Office apps
Go to File > Accounts - on the right side you can see Product Information
Have you tried adding your email account in the Outlook app for iOS?
To resolve this issue, you can try disabling the Clutter feature in your Outlook account settings. Here's how:
1. Sign in to your Outlook account on a computer.
2. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select "View all Outlook settings."
3. Click on "Mail" and then "Automatic processing."
4. Under "Clutter," toggle the switch to turn it off.
5. Click "Save" to apply the changes.
Once you've disabled Clutter, your emails should no longer be moved to the "other" folder. If you're still missing emails, you can try refreshing your inbox or logging out and back in to your account on your iPhone.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.
We look forward to hearing from you.

In just a day, this application has proven to be a transformative asset, seamlessly weaving itself into the fabric of online shopping. The installation process, marked by simplicity, belies the profound impact it has on one's fiscal landscape. What sets Tin apart extends beyond mere financial dividends, delving into the very architecture of the shopping interface. Tin just saved me like $100 wow! 👀
I recently tried out Tin, a Safari extension that's pretty much a game-changer for snagging the best online deals with zero hassle. Easy to set up and even easier to use, Tin acts like your personal bargain hunter, silently finding better prices on everything from tech to kitchen gadgets and giving you a heads-up on the savings. It's cool because it also shows the price history, helping you decide if it's the right time to buy. While it's mostly spot-on, it occasionally misses a beat, but that's a small trade-off for how much time and money it's saved me. Whether you're making big purchases or everyday buys, Tin keeps things private and secure, making it a must-have for effortless savings. Honestly, your wallet will thank you for this one.
Superb Shopping App
My friend raved about Tin, so I decided to give it a try. Within just 24 hours, I was blown away by how intuitive and helpful it is! The app is a breeze to set up, and the deals it finds are unreal. On my first shopping spree, I snagged discounts on several items that I've been eyeing for ages, effortlessly saving a hefty sum. Tin's automatic coupon feature at checkout is a game-changer – it feels like I have a personal assistant scouring the internet for the best deals, all for me. From tech gadgets to fashion finds, Tin has consistently delivered savings that make a difference. I can't recommend it enough – it's like having the inside scoop on the best sales every time I shop! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
