Paddington Walking Tour

Read reviews

Join the Paddington Tour and discover this charming London neighbourhood in W2 that inspired the name of the most favourite bear from Peru more than 50 years ago.

Pack your marmalade sandwich, put on some comfortable shoes and duffle coat (or a rain jacket as it is London after all) and let us take you on a fun-filled guided walk of sites in the Paddington area.

This walking tour explores both the area of Paddington and its surrounding neighbourhoods such as Paddington Green, Maida Vale, Little Venice and Notting Hill and also celebrates its most notable residents the most famous one being a bear from Peru.

Starting at Paddington Station you can see where Mr and Mrs Brown discover the loveable bear and take him home to live with them, naming him Paddington after the station where he was found.

The tour will include a visit to a statue of Paddington as well as filming and literary locations and give you behind-the-scenes information about how the movies were made and how the character of the bear was born. For those keen enough we will even test your knowledge along the way.

As part of the walking tour, there will be a short bus journey on public transport, so each member of your party will need either an Oystercard, contactless card or a Travelcard valid to travel on the day of the tour in Zones 1-2. The bus will take you to Notting Hill where you can visit the film location for Mr Gruber’s shop in Portobello Road. Customer Reviews

Paddington Bear Locations in London

tom_bullock /Flickr / CC BY 2.0

The classic tales of Paddington, the much-loved bear, have sold more than 35 million books worldwide and captured the imagination of children and adults around the globe. Paddington originally came from Peru , where he was brought up by his Aunt Lucy. He now lives in London, England . When Paddington arrived in London he was wearing nothing but an old bush hat and a label on which Aunt Lucy had written "Please look after this bear. Thank you."

If you are seeking Paddington Bear locations in London, use this guide to find the top sites.

Paddington Station

The Brown family found Paddington in this busy train station, which is how he acquired his name. Look for a bronze statue of Paddington under the clock on Platform 1, where the Brown family found him in the first book. There is also a dedicated Paddington Bear shop in the station that's great for souvenirs and gifts.

Most visitors arrive in Paddington station on the Heathrow Express from the airport. The station has connections to the London Tube .

32 Windsor Gardens

The Brown family lives just around the corner from Paddington Station at 32 Windsor Gardens, off Harrow Road between  Notting Hill  and Maida Vale. Note that there is no number 32 in the real Windsor Gardens.

Hampton Court

Grant Faint / Getty Images

In Paddington Bear and the Marmalade Maze , Paddington and Mr. Gruber visit Hampton Court and end up inviting a group of tourists back home for tea, but not before losing them in the famous Hampton Court Maze.

Portobello Road

Brian Bumby / Getty Images

Portobello Road is the location of the antique shop run by friendly Mr. Gruber, with whom Paddington has his elevenses every day. Mr. Gruber regularly takes Paddington and the Brown children on outings, always addressing Paddington as "Mr. Brown."

Buckingham Palace

Tetra Images / Getty Images

In Paddington at the Palace , Mr. Gruber takes Paddington to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard, but there are so many people in his way that he can't see anything. Then a mysteriously regal person comes to his rescue.

The Official Paddington Bear Tour of London

If you'd rather have a local show you around, you can follow in Paddington’s pawprints on the official Paddington Bear Tour of London and visit some of London’s famous landmarks as well as sites that have featured in more than 20 books and the movie. Along the way, you'll learn about Paddington’s adventures, discover how the movie was made, and test how good your Paddington Bear knowledge is.

Andrzej Lukowski

UPDATE: full details and dates have now been announced for ‘The Paddington Bear Experience’

A decade ago, Paddington was yesterday’s bear: still beloved by the generations that had grown up on Michael Bond’s books and subsequent TV adaptations, but how could this polite, marmalade-loving avatar of a gentler age hope to appeal to cynical modern youth?

What a difference ten years makes. With two pretty much perfect films – and a memorable meeting with the late Queen – under his belt, Paddington didn’t evaporate in a cloud of harmless twee, but rather his twenty-first-century writers doubled down on his old-fashioned sense of decency in a way that left the character both comically out of sync and also perversely righteous: shaming us by having more faith in the world than we do.

Now, Paddington is probably as popular now as he’s ever been, with a third film opening late this year, a musical due next year – and before that a lavish new all-ages immersive experience opening in central London.

‘The Paddington Bear Experience’ will run at the former LCC County Hall building, currently host to semi-immersive Agatha Christie show ‘Witness for the Prosecution’, which will be continuing alongside it.

Beginning at ‘Paddington Station’ (not the real one, one in the exhibition), you’ll go on a whistlestop tour of Paddington’s cleaner, more twee version of London, before heading over to his adoptive human family the Browns’s house for the Marmalade Day Festival. We’re promised themed rooms, interactive games and a big party at the end. And, yes, you can have a marmalade sandwich.

The show is directed by the creative collective Immersive Octopus and written by Katie Lyons, who did the honours for the recent immersive hit ‘Peaky Blinders: The Rise’. Whether they’ll be able to capture the weapons-grade charm of the films is very much TBC, but it sounds like a delightful family day out.

The Paddington Bear Experience, 2024

The show doesn’t open until the very end of May, but it will be preceded by the March 1 opening of Mr Gruber’s Antiques Store on the County Hall site, where you’ll be able to buy merch and tickets for the experience in advance of your meeting with the polite young bear.

‘The Paddington Bear Experience’ is at County Hall from May 31. Book tickets  here .

Paddington Bear Tours

Created in 1956, Paddington Bear is one of London’s most beloved children’s literature characters. He has featured in more than twenty books – written by his creator, Michael Bond – and has been the star of many of his own films, including one out just this year. He is known to children and adults the world over, his stories have been translated into 30 languages and selling more than 30million copies throughout the globe.

Paddington Bear, we are told, comes from Peru! He travelled here with his old hat, suitcase and duffle coat. He was discovered by a London family, the Browns, sitting on his suitcase inside Paddington Station. A note was attached to his coat which read, “Please look after this bear. Thank you.” So the Browns adopted Paddington, naming him after the station they found him! Padding Bear is able to speak and he very quickly informs his new family that his favourite food is marmalade – a food he has been directly associated with since his original creation, even appearing in British television adverts.

Paddington Bear Trail

Up until the end of December 2014, London played host to the Paddington Trail – a city-wide art project featuring 50 statues of Paddington himself. Each statue was created by designers, celebrities and artists and have been placed in the places throughout London that Paddington has said are his favourite.

When the statues of Paddington were removed from the streets of London, their lives were not over! Christie’s hosted an auction of the statues. All the proceeds were then donated to charity – particularly the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

Paddington Afternoon Tea Bus Tour Route

The girls had so much fun listening to the tour..

We just finished Paddington tour bus! Best experience in every way and will try different tours.

I booked this for my daughters 7th Birthday. The food is beautiful presented! Very cute and vegetarian menu very good in selection. The girls had so much fun listening to the tour. Our hosts JP, Vince and Anna were amazing and very friendly. The hygiene is well considered, staff wear gloves when serving the sandwiches. We are definitely going to try different theme tour with Brigit Bakery again!

Yy 5 yr son loved the bus, cakes & souvenirs.

Really enjoyed our experience on the Paddington themed afternoon tea bus tour. I took my 5 yr son and he loved the bus, cakes and souvenirs. Would definitely recommend, particularly if you have young kids and want to show them the City of London.

It was like entering a parallel universe of fun & tasty treats.

I took my two sons aged 11 and 6 on the inaugural Paddington Afternoon Tea Bus Tour with Brigit's Bakery. And we had such a good time. It was like entering a parallel universe of fun and tasty treats. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious - we sat down really hungry and left completely stuffed. The staff were friendly and attentive. And it was fun having Paddington and Mrs Bird narrating our journey around London. A wonderful activity to do over the half term holiday.

The team were exemplary!

We were on the second Paddington themed bus tour and the team were exemplary! Very professional and made the experience extremely special for my son and I. We sat right at the front and had the most wonderful afternoon, even despite my little one suffering from motion sickness. I highly recommend!

Is there a toilet on-board?

No, there is no toilet on board our Paddington Bus Tours. There are no public toilets at the Trafalgar Square departure point.

I would love to book a Paddington Bus Tour – why is it only for over 5’s?

Due to the length of the tour and having no toilets on board the bus, our Paddington Tours are best suited, and enjoyed, by children of 5 years and over. Parents / guardians must be confident that all persons in their party will not need to use toilet facilities for the duration of the whole experience.

Please be advised that no standing or walking is permitted during the tour. Parents are responsible for assessing whether their children are capable of remaining seated on parents' laps or on their own for the duration of the 1hr 45min tour. Parents are also responsible for keeping their children seated during the tour.

Do you allow babies on board?

No, unfortunately we are unable to allow babies on board. However, if you’re a large group and would like to hire out the entire lower or upper deck, we are able to make exceptions to this policy. Please call one of our team to discuss and arrange your booking on 020 3026 1188.

Are there changing facility on board?

No, unfortunately as it’s a classic Routemaster bus, space is limited, so there are no toilets or changing facilities onboard.

Is there somewhere to park our buggy?

No, we’re afraid that space is very limited on board the bus, so there’s no room to store buggies.

Are there seatbelts for the children?

No, we operate a 1960’s classic Routemaster bus, which was not fitted with seatbelts. Health and safety does not require us to install seatbelts however we do insist that all party members remain seated. Please be advised that no standing or walking is permitted during the tour. Parents / guardians are responsible for assessing whether their children are capable of remaining seated on parents' laps or on their own for the duration of the tour. Parents are also responsible for keeping their children seated during the tour.

Would you advise having two children per adult maximum?

We recommend having two children between 5-12 years old per adult. Please be advised that no standing or walking is permitted during the tour. Parents are responsible for assessing whether their children are capable of remaining seated on parents' laps or on their own for the duration of the tour. The story of Paddington Bear, how did Paddington Bear come about?

Paddington Bear is the famous teddy bear from Michael Bonds’s books. Sadly Micheal Bond, the creator of this famous little bear, passed away at the age of 91. Micheal came up with the idea for Paddington on  Christmas Eve whilst shopping in London .

He saw a teddy bear on a shelf in Selfridges store, and he felt sorry for it. He took him home as a present for his wife, whom he was named Paddington, as the couple lived near London Paddington station at the time.

Micheal Bond then went on to write his first book about the famous bear and the Brown family.

In 1997 Micheal Bond was honoured with an OBE for his services to children’s literature. Who would have thought that this bear would be so well-known and well-loved and even have his own bear movie?

Paddington Station.

The most obvious place to look for Paddington Bear would be at  Paddington Station ! But where is he, and why is he here? Well, apart from the name similarity, Paddington first arrives in London at Paddington station. This is where Mr Brown and Mrs Brown first meet the cute bear. This station is the most famous place you can find Paddington Bear.

Want to make it into a breakaway? Check out these amazing places to stay in London .

The first stop is Paddington train station. If you’re heading to the station, you must check out the Paddington Bear statue and a Paddington Bear bench with a plaque above. The life-sized bronze statue of Paddington of the little Peruvian traveller can be found here with his small suitcase.

Where to find Paddington Bear at Paddington station

To find the exact location of the Paddington statue, head towards  platform one at Paddington station . Paddington sits here on the main concourse at the side of the station, cast in bronze, with his suitcase and hat on. He has a label around his neck which reads “please look after this bear thank you” Here, you can also find a number of other things to do with Paddington in Paddington station, such as a Paddington bear plaque, Paddington bear bench and even a shop.

The statue was designed by the sculptor Marcus Cornish and was unveiled by the Paddington Bear series author Michael Bond on 24 February 2000.

The Paddington Bear Statue At Paddington station.

Next door to the bronze Paddington Bear statue is a bench painted with bear scenes. The painted scenes of Paddington Bear make it a lovely place for a photo. You may need ask somebody to move if you want to come and sit here for a photo. Paddington sits on the bench eating his marmalade sandwiches. Above the bench is a plaque telling you all about Paddington Bear when he first came to the station many years ago in 1958.

Paddington Bear Plaque.

The Paddington Bear plaque sits above the Paddington Bear bench at the station.

The plaque reads;

Paddington bear as described in Michael Bond bestselling book “a Bear called Paddington”. Paddington Bear first arrived at Paddington Station in 1958.

Scenes from his first big screen adventure, “Paddington” were filmed here at the station in the autumn of 2013.

The Paddington Bear shop at Paddington Station

The Paddington Bear shop at Paddington Station is tucked around the corner, just near the other restaurants and Bear Pub. The shop sells a whole paraphernalia of Paddington bear souvenirs, such as Paddington bear tea cups, bears, toys, books and gift ideas.

There is even a Paddington Cafe inside! There is a large Paddington bear sitting on a bench in here too, and he is great for a photo!

Paddington Bear shop at Paddington Station outside view

You can expect a full-on  Paddington experience at the cafe  with his iconic silhouette bear head carefully burned into each tabletop. Fairtrade Peruvian Single-origin coffee is on offer here, and an illuminated ‘Lost and Found’ sign signifies Paddington’s original journey to London, where he was found at Paddington station.

So if you have a sandwich emergency, you can get yours to eat in or take away.

Peggy Fortnum’s original Paddington illustration, which was first published in 1958, has been reproduced in the form of a piece of mural street art on the Café’s red brick wall.

Paddington Bear Pub the Mad Bishop and Bear

There is even a Paddington station pub called the  Mad Bishop and Bear.  It is upstairs in the station, not far from the Paddington bear statue. It is also not far from where the shop is either—named after Matt Bishop, who was a local man of the cloth who, despite supposedly gifted the land for the station at a bargain price many years ago.

Why not pop in it is a great place to have a pint, and they love their similar bear name and paid tribute to the Queen after she passed away.

Take the Pawprint Trail Paddington Bear trail

Paddington Bear walking tours consist of three Pawprint Trail starting at Paddington Station and has been updated to include all the latest things to do in and around Paddington. It includes family-friendly places along the route as well as food places to keep you fed and watered as you go in search of London’s most beloved bears.

The trails will take you past 3 Paddington bear figures. Adventure One is along the Canalside with views of the London Zoo. Here you should see and find a very special blue-flocked Paddington alongside restaurant barges ( currently being restored and should be back on Nov 22). You will also see a brick bear in Adventure 2 at the Paddington Basin and in Adventure no 3, a colourful bear near Norfolk Square Gardens. However, these may be moved out of season to Hilton London Paddington.

You can pick up a free map from the Paddington shop.

Leicester Square Paddington bear statue eating marmalade sandwiches

In Leicester Square , Paddington Bear is sitting on a bench as part of the Leicester Square scenes in the square. You will find up to 13 different statues, including the famous Mr Bean statue in the square and they are beautiful! The Paddington statue sits on the left-hand side of the square, eating his marmalade sandwiches and you can sit right down next to him and have your lunch with him how lovely is that?

Not really a Paddington feature but there is a little street that leads off of Leicester Square called Bear Street!

Paddington Bear at Notting Hill

You can find Paddington Bear in the Paddington Notting Hil film location too . In the first film, Paddington meets the antique dealer Mr Gruber (Jim Broadbent), who owns an antique shop on Portobello Road. You can actually go in the antique shop at Notting Hill although the inside does not look like the film. Outside the antique shop is an old Paddington bear statue, too. Further along, in Notting Hill, where Paddington flies down the road on a skateboard attempting to return a lost wallet, you may find him in the Biscuiteers made out of biscuits.

Oxford Street Selfridges where Micheal Bond first bought a bear for his wife

Do not forget to visit  Selfridges on Oxford Street . One of London’s best and biggest department stores, where Michael Bond bought a small teddy bear for his wife on Christmas Eve in 1956.

That little bear which Bond named Paddington, went on to inspire the book series. Selfridges has a toy department where you may be able to pick up your own cuddly version of Paddington.

Many years ago, in roughly 1981, Selfridges windows and Santas Grotto were adorned with Paddington bears. I remember going as a small child. I will seek out a photo!

Hamley’s Toy Store Bear figure

If you head off to Regent Street, you’ll find London’s most famous toyshop  Hamleys . Hamleys have been selling Paddington bears for decades. The shop has seven fun-packed floors filled with all sorts of toys: Lego, Cars, computer games, soft toys, dolls, board games, and Paddington’s!

You will also see a life-size bear statue here too! Perfect for a bear photo op.

Buckingham Palace, where Paddington met the Queen.

Take a walk to Buckingham Palace. You may not see the bear, but you will see the beautiful palace he visited on his visit to see and meet the Queen.

The late Queen became associated with Paddington Bear during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Queen Elizabeth took part in a CGI sketch with the marmalade-loving bear.

He was invited for tea, but he did not have the right manners. The Queen did not seem to mind and showed off her sandwiches kept in her bag!

Paddington wishes the Queen a “happy jubilee ma’am and thank you for everything. “

The museum of childhood Bethnal Green ( The Young V&A )

Why not take a visit to Bethnal Green to visit the  Young V&A museum ? The Museum of Childhood is a huge toy museum. It has a huge collection of teddy bears, including Paddington Bear. The Paddington toy on display is a British version from 1980.

The natural History museum

No Paddington Bear here, but it’s a great spot for a day out. The Natural History Museum is a Paddington movie filming location. In the scene, Millicent Clyde, A cruel taxidermist played by Nicole Kidman, shows Paddington what she’s planning to do with him. Paddington did not want to be added to her collection of endangered animals.

See Paddington in a bookshop window in Cecil Court.

You may also find Paddington Bear in  Leicester Square ,’s Cecil Court. It is a quaint road in London that has a lot of unusual shops and includes many bookshops. Keep your eyes peeled for the cute little fellow in the window.

Where to find Paddington Bear in London

Pack your marmalade sandwiches (duffel coats optional) – if you’re wondering where to find Paddington Bear in London with kids, I’ve tracked down all the essential locations for fans of the loveable bear from Darkest Peru.

The Paddington bear bench at Paddington station - if you're hoping to find Paddington Bear in London, the station is the best place to start your own Paddington bear trail in London

contains affiliate links *

While you can no longer follow the Paddington trail, which took place in 2014 with 50 Paddington bear statues in London to celebrate the release of the first movie, you can check out the ongoing Pawprint trail to find several current statues.

There are also Paddington Bear walking tours, Paddington themed afternoon tea and locations from both the books and the movies to spot – not forgetting Paddington station itself, of course.

Buy Paddington’s Guide to London to have the bear himself introduce you to the city, along with this mini-guide to Paddington’s London

See the Paddington statues

Start your Paddington-themed visit to London by finding the Paddington statues dotted around the city, starting (of course) at the station which gave him his name.

Paddington station

For fans of Paddington Bear (and who isn’t?), you can’t miss a visit to Paddington Station, where the furry hero of the books was first found by the Browns and received his name.

The lifesize bronze statue with the label asking people to look after this bear is back in its usual home by Platform 1, after a brief stint near the Praed Street entrance, between Platforms 9 and 10.

The station is also home to the Paddington bench, where kids can sit next to him and pose for photos – head over towards the Paddington shop to find it.

The Pawprint trail

The station is also the starting point for the  Pawprint Trail  – three trails, in fact, each with one of the Paddington statues from the 2014 collection dotted around the city.

Pick up your free map from the Paddington shop in the station and head off on one of the three ‘adventures’. Or all three, of course.

Adventure One: Canalside Views to London Zoo takes you to the Grand Union Canal, where you can spot Bearing Up, a blue flock Paddington tucked under a bridge, as you wander past the barges and string of cafes.

This particular statue is now back again, after a quick restoration of his fur

The route leads you on to Little Venice and beyond, where you could hop onto the Waterbus to Camden Lock, which passes London Zoo – keep your eyes open for monkeys and painted dogs (though you won’t spot bears en route.

For more things to do in Camden with kids , check out my top picks

A blue flock statue of Paddington by the Grand Union Canal. one of several along the Pawprint trail if you're wondering where to find Paddington Bear in London with kids

Adventure Two: Boating, Bears and Bridges leads the opposite way along the canal to Paddington Basin, where you’ll spot Brick Bear as you head over towards Merchant Square.

Time your visit for Wednesdays and Fridays at noon and you can watch the fan bridge lift too, as well as checking out the Floating Pocket Park (mini green spaces which bob on the water).

Adventure Three: Ping Pong, Ponies and Peter Pan leads to Norfolk Square Gardens – temporarily home to a special exhibition of statues made with Lego-style bricks in summer 2022 – where you can spot Paddingtonscape, as Paddington tries his paw at some chess.

If you’re visiting outside the summer months, he sensibly hibernates in the Hilton London Paddington instead.

Keep walking and the route takes you to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, where you can see the Two Bears fountain near Lancaster Gate and the Italian Gardens in the northern end of the park. Not Paddington, admittedly, but a bonus bear never goes amiss.

Paddington Green

For a less well-known statue of Paddington, head to St Mary’s Churchyard at nearby Paddington Green.

You’ll find him commemorated here with his creator Michael Bond, one of the  Sustrans portrait benches  dotted around the country – the churchyard also features two other locals, nurse Mary Seacole and mathematician and codebreaker Alan Turing.

Leicester Square

While most of the Paddington statues cluster around Paddington station, you can find him right in the centre of London too.

There’s also a statue of Paddington with his famous marmalade sandwiches among the statues in Leicester Square , one of a string of stars from the world of film.

As another bear bonus, watch out for Bear Street which leads from Leicester Square to Charing Cross Road.

For more things to do around Leicester Square with kids , check out my top picks

Paddington Bear afternoon tea in London

If you’re looking for Paddington Bear afternoon tea, London has a new option that’s perfect for kids.

The Paddington Afternoon Tea Bus Tour launches on October 26, available weekly from Wednesdays to Sundays, with an afternoon tea inspired by food Paddington would love to get his paws on – including, of course, a great marmalade sandwich.

Using an iconic double-decker Routemaster bus, the Paddington afternoon tea tour by Brigit’s Bakery – also behind the Peppa Pig afternoon tea bus tours – travels around central London and some of Paddington’s favourite London landmarks.

Along the way, you’ll hear about some of his adventures and mishaps, as well as getting to see the sights. Each table has a built-in screen with a Paddington-guided animation, where Paddington and Mrs Bird share their knowledge of the city’s other icons.

Lasting 1 hour 45 minutes, it’s recommended for age 5+. There are vegan, vegetarian, halal and gluten-free menus, but no toilets aboard.

There are regularly other Paddington-themed afternoon teas, often to mark the launch of a new film or a special event – previously including the Athanaeum and Aquashard among others.

Houseboats lining the canal at Little Venice - exploring the canals is a fun free day out with kids in London

Paddington Bear walking tour

While it’s easy to put together your own Paddington Bear walking tour of London, Brit Movie Tours leads its own ‘official’ Paddington tour as well.

Starting at Paddington station, it takes you to some of the filming locations from the movies as well as covering places mentioned in over 15 Paddington Bear books.

As well as passing through Little Venice, you’ll end up at the Portobello Road, where Mr Gruber had his antiques shop. There’s a discount for children under three go free – the tour lasts around 2-2 ½ hours so there’s a lot of walking for little ones though.

Also available to book through Viator , with a reserve now, pay later option, as well as free cancellation tickets.

Or pick up Paddington’s Guide to London with Paddington’s own tips on exploring the city.

Locations from the Paddington books

If you want to make your own Paddington-themed walking tour of London, it’s easy to stroll between some of the key locations as well as combining them with the Pawprint trail.

Read on to see some of the locations from the movies too

Paddington station is one of the best places to start, where Paddington began his own journey.

Don’t miss Portobello Road either, where the little bear would go for elevenses at Mr Gruber’s antiques shop.

Blurred shot of people walking along colourful Portobello Road in London, one of the locations from the Paddington books in London

But there’s no point trying to find 32 Windsor Gardens – author Michael Bond combined his address with his parents’ details, plus some artistic license, to create the home belonging to the Brown family.

So while you Windsor Gardens does exist, the story isn’t based on the real life location – and there’s no number 32…

Scroll down to discover the location of 32 Windsor Gardens in the Paddington movies

Head into central London too, for Selfridges, where Bond bought the original bear which inspired the stories – and for those who’ve read the books, bears a distinct resemblance to the fictional Barkridges department store in London.

Regent’s Park was the site of another of Paddington’s mishaps from the stories, accidentally disrupting a performance in the open air theatre.

Image showing a graphic of London's iconic sights and the words 'click to read my quick start guide to London, all the essentials you need to know before a visit to London with kids' linking to my blog post guide to London with kids

Locations from the Paddington movies

The closest you can come to Windsor Gardens is Chalcot Crescent in Primrose Hill, where the Browns live in the films.

The Serpentine Lake in nearby Hyde Park was one of the movie Mrs Brown’s favourite swimming locations.

Not far from Paddington station, Little Venice was an area author Michael Bond knew well – and the canal towpath might look familiar from Paddington 2, where everyone’s favourite bear and his four-legged friend carry out a high-speed chase.

Or head to the  Natural History Museum in South Kensington, where the first film’s dramatic climax sees Paddington escaping from fiendish taxidermist Nicole Kidman.

Find one of the oldest Paddington Bears

The first official Paddington Bear toy was made in the UK in 1972, and while the earliest ones are now collector’s items, you can still see one special vintage bear on a trip to London.

One of the original-style Paddington Bears , dating from 1980, has been a favourite on display at the V&A’s Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green over the years.

The museum is currently closed and due to reopen in 2023 as the Young V&A , with more exhibits on display and new exhibitions, including the stories behind favourite characters like Paddington.

The much-loved Paddington Bear, with the safety pin still firmly in his hat, is also expected to return.

Please look after this bear: where to buy Paddington souvenirs

If you just want a Paddington of your own, there’s no need to venture to Darkest Peru, with plenty of places to find the pawfect souvenir.

There are Paddington souvenirs galore as well as a wide range of cuddly creations if you’re wondering where to buy Paddington Bear in London.

Paddington station itself is home to the only shop in the world exclusively dedicated to the famous bear , and you’ll find exclusive gifts here.

If you’re visiting Barkridges, aka Selfridges , there’s a wide range of toys and bears to be found.

And London’s most famous toy shop, Hamley’s on Regent’s Street, has its own impressive collection of bears plus plenty of Paddington-themed products – you can even get a luggage tag reading ‘Please look after this bear’.

You can also find the books in most good London bookstores too, along with Paddington’s Guide to London . If you don’t fancy carrying all 15 books around all day, or want to re-read the stories before you visit, check out this great box set from Amazon .
