The race is a unique challenge that will put riders bike skills to the test, blending 60km of road, MTB trails, and gravel racing.

We can’t contain our excitement about having you join us for the Gryphon 99er, in association with Smile FM on 10 February 2024. To ensure your experience is as smooth as a freshly paved road, we’ve put together a simple guide to help you with registration and number collection.
Your journey starts here, and we’ve made it easy for you to collect your race pack. Simply head to one of the following locations:

New Timing System
Please note that we will be using FinishTime temporary timing boards for the timing of the road races. You will receive a temporary timing board in your race pack. The board needs to be affix below your seat post. See instructions below. PLEASE NOTE: NO TIMING BOARD NO RESULT. The orange RaceTec chip will NOT be used for timing.
For the 60km Trilogy you will need to use your permanent RaceTec timing board.

Our Community
The Gryphon 99er, in association with Smile FM is a remarkable event organized and hosted by the El Shaddai Christian School in Durbanville. Not only is it a thrilling cycling race, but it also serves as the primary fundraising activity for the school. What makes this event truly exceptional is the incredible support from our community. On race day, we are fortunate to have over 350 dedicated volunteers. These volunteers come in various forms, including parents, staff, pupils, alumni, and past parents. They all play a vital role in making this event a resounding success. The Gryphon 99er is a true testament to the power of community involvement, bringing people together to support a noble cause.

A unique challenge putting rider’s bike skills to the test.
Hosted annually in Durbanville as a Seeding Event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour, “The 99er” is an all-inclusive cycling race catering for cyclists of all ability.
The event has grown steadily over the years offering 51km and a 100km road and an addition of a gravel MTB 60km hybrid race for 2024.

Gryphon 99er Cycle Tour
Western Cape cyclists can get ready to kick off the new year in style with the return of the 25th Gryphon 99er Cycle Tour, in association with Smile FM.
Starting and finishing at Hollywoodbets Durbanville Race Course on 10 February 2024, the Mother City’s 3rd largest cycle race will once again take professional and recreational cyclists on a tour of the Cape’s picturesque Boland and Swartland regions in their choice of the 100km or 51km road race options. Both routes have rolling hills with a few short, sharp climbs adding to the challenge.
The road race also offers an e-bike category.
The Gryphon 99er is a premier seeding event for the 2024 Cape Town Cycle Tour, and offers cyclists the final opportunity to improve their start time for the world’s largest timed cycle race.
Discounted Early Bird entries close on 30 November (R430 for the 100km race, R315 for the 51km and R375 for the 99er Trilogy Challenge), with standard entry fees activating on 1 December.
