On average, the majestic Hoover Dam generates around 4 Billion KW/Hour worth of hydro-power. So, the power plant that helps generate this hydropower is located within a structure that is U-Shaped, just like the skywalk, and is located in the base section of the dam.

Now, each of these power plant wings ranges about 650 feet in terms of length. On the other hand, the rise of the plant is about 299 feet above the foundation of the power plant. In all these plant galleries, there are about 10 acres of space available.

2-How much power can the Hoover Dam power plant generate?

There are about 17 prime turbines located within the Hoover plant, of which 9 are located within the Arizona section while 8 are within the Nevada section. The main units within the power plant flaunt a combined power generation capacity that goes as high as 2,991,000 horsepower. The 2 units for the service station come with a 3,500 horsepower rating each.

Together, the plant flaunts a capacity closing in at 2,998,000 horsepower.

• Boarding begins approximately 15 minutes prior to departure.
• Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Card are acceptable forms of payment for online reservations.
• Children’s prices apply to those ages 2 through 11. Children under age 2 are free, but must be booked by calling 866.292.9191 and issued a boarding pass at check-in.
• Smoking is not permitted inside the vessel, but smoking is allowed in designated areas on the outside decks.
• Dress is semi-casual for the Dinner Cruise. Layered clothing is recommended.
• Lake Mead Cruises is located inside the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The National Park Service charges a fee to enter the area. For current rates and details, please visit www.nps.gov/lake .
• Coast Guard regulation may require a brief search of any bags brought on board. By purchasing a ticket, you are consenting to possible search.
• Firearms are not allowed on Lake Mead Cruises landing or aboard any cruise.
• No pets are allowed inside the landing or on the boat, except for trained service animals.
• Outside food or beverages are not allowed on the landing or boat. 

NOTE: Prepaid reservations are required for the Dinner Cruise.
