Our tours are designed with students in mind—from the affordable prices to the active itineraries that maximize educational value. We want to ensure that adults traveling with us have an amazing time, too. In addition to reading through our Help Center's collection of Preparing to Travel and What to Expect on Tour articles, there are a few things for our adult travelers to keep in mind:

Group travel Unless you are traveling as a private group, you’ll be traveling on a shared tour experience with students and adults from other schools. When traveling as a group, staying flexible and having a positive attitude can make a huge difference. Your positivity can be contagious—especially for students. And since you’re traveling as a group and not on your own, it’s important to be punctual. If one person is late, it can cause the whole group to miss a scheduled activity.

Itinerary Our student tours are an introduction to travel and are intended to give young people the confidence to see the world. We design our itineraries to get the most out of each destination, so our Tour Directors and licensed guides focus on showing students iconic sites with the best educational value. While some itineraries have scheduled free time , it's usually limited and travelers must participate in all scheduled activities.

Pace You will typically be on the go all day, leaving your hotel after an early breakfast and often returning after dinner and an evening activity. Your day will often be fast-paced and include a lot of walking, so be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes. There may not be a lot of time to shop, and some lunches may be quick so that students get to see as much as possible..

Hotels  You will stay in safe, clean and comfortable hotels. As an adult, you’ll be assigned to a room with two beds. Speak with your Group Leader about designating a roommate. If you do not choose a roommate, you will be assigned to room with another adult of the same gender—either from your group or from one of the other groups you’re traveling with. Meals Breakfast typically includes a continental buffet with at least two hot items. Lunch is your chance to make local culinary discoveries of your own. Everyone will have the same meal options at dinner, which will be a mix of dishes that appeal to younger travelers’ preferred tastes. Please notify your Group Leader if you have other dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate them. Read more about meals.

Chaperones If your Group Leader designates you as a chaperone on this tour, you may be responsible for a smaller group, which includes ensuring their attendance at all tour activities, managing the travelers’ behavior and doing room checks. Your Group Leader will discuss these and other responsibilities with you before tour.

Amazing tour director & EF meals

Our tour director was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable about the place we travelled. Additionally, he was able to make impactful changes when certain excursions were cancelled. He was extremely personable and thoroughly got to know our travelers. In addition to this, went outside of his duties to even find ways to build confidence in our travelers. I was thankful for the prepared meals that were arranged by EF. They were well selected and provided us with an idea of what Italian, French, and English cuisine is like. Overall, this was an amazing experience with EF, and I look forward to taking students again next year.

Greece school trip

This was my daughter’s school trip. She said the breakfasts and suppers that were covered in the cost were horrible and that the rooms were ridiculously small. She also commented about this tour guide that continuously talked without relent while on the bus, wouldn’t let them converse with one another, then the students had to give her each 30 euros which was not mentioned in the money distribution breakdown list. She loved the boat ride, and visiting all the sites! She returned with beautiful pictures. She enjoyed the experience of being on a plane and travelling with school friends. Beautiful memories were created!

EF Tours made my daughter's school trip to Europe so easy and the tour guides were amazing according to my daughter. They took care of everything which eased my mind as a parent sending their child abroad. The communication from day 1 was outstanding.

Alps, Mediterranean

My daughter went to Europe with a group from her school, she loved all the places in their itinerary. The only downside for her was not being able to stay longer at each city they visited. The planning from the group leader was meticulous, and the reminders for all required items were timely. Also, the tour guide was amazing!

Always do add-ons!

The pacing of Bell'Italia was really good! Some very busy days but always followed by a more relaxed travel day. With the extension, this tour really shows the different geography of Italy and how different the regions are. Our tour director is amazing and added on unique activities to make our time even more special. I highly recommend adding on all excursions and extensions offered by EF tours.

Would travel again!

Our tour guide Joel was fantastic. The evening meals were OK but many did not include any vegetables at all. I can tell you that the adults and a lot of the kids on the trip were definitely missing veggies! The hotels were outside the cities we were touring in most cases which made for considerable extra time spent on the bus. Overall, the trip was a great way for me to see Europe for the first time.

Wonderful! Again!

This was my fourth trip with EF. My students always have the opportunity to experience unique learning and activities. The hands on nature of the excursions allows students to be part of their learning. In addition, I have developed complete trust in EF to supply, and look after all my needs when travelling. This gives me peace of mind that I can pass on to my travellers and their parents.

EF was very well organized and things ran very smoothly. My daughter had a trip of a lifetime! Sonia the tour guide was I incredible. She was very knowledgeable and used songs, skits and games to keep the kids engaged and help them learn. The only negative was the quality and amount of food when the group was in Italy (however, the food in Greece was great).

Our guide was so flexible with our group and really personalized each experience along the tour. I enjoyed how they shared personal hotspots and favourites with us in each destination. The driver we had was THE MOST impressive drive I have ever worked with...handling stressful traffic with tight streets and many detours, surprise weather conditions and a bus full of drama students.

Our Tour Director went out of his way…

Our Tour Director went out of his way to make the tour go well. We made a lot of requests and he was able to implement most of them in spite of restrictions on bus drivers and the inevitable construction. This is the best Battlefields trip for pacing and sites covered.

Tour Guides did their best

It’s hard to give a good review considering my kid was one of more than half their large group to get violently ill while in Paris. This was likely a virus, due to the pattern of onset day after day. Though the last meal they’d all eaten before the first traveller was sick was at a vegetarian style eatery well known to be rated poorly. If you’re going to offer kids food at places for dinner, don’t scrimp on costs and go to a place like this. They would have had a better shot at avoiding illness if they’d picked their own places at dinner. Poor food handling by an employee who was contagious is a probable cause for this outbreak. I will say that the tour operators seemed to step up and were helpful on the train between Paris and Nice. Though I’m sure the other passengers on the train were put out by the vomit-fest. Luckily, they made it back safely, but for those kids who were hospitalized it would be smart if your tour guides advise and insist on proper hydration when illness like that sets in.

Ef never disappoints

Ef never disappoints. Our consultants and tour director were awesome. Highly recommend! Italy was a dream. We travelled from Verona to Pompeii, walked 78 km and made 1000 000 memories! Well done!!

Easter 2024

The tour director was excellent. Incredibly knowledgeable and amazing with the students. He made the whole trip ten times better. Our bus driver was also amazing and so friendly. Each activity we did was organized and well planned and kept the students engaged and excited to learn more.

I was so appreciative of all the assistance I received on this trip. It was an unusual trip for me in that I needed to take three students to a doctor at three different times. I also had flight issues and a mudslide. Chad and the staff on the emergency line along with Victor, my TD, were all fantastic at providing support, reassurance, and direction. I never felt alone and it was very easy for me to be a calm teacher for my students so they never felt panicky.

EF Do Better!

First and foremost our guides were awesome!!! And this review does not include them. EF provided our school trip and their communication is lacking. I did a land only package and booked our own flights. Trying to get any information from them was horrendous ie what is first and last hotel we will be in (we arrived and departed at different times) where do we meet on first day, what do the various tickets to sites include. Several of the events got cancelled but we weren’t told till last minute. The app was useless our itinerary was no where near being correct. Bottom line is the guides were what made the trip- EF corporate is hurting their reputations! Do Better EF!

We had one of the most amazing tour guides, Joanna during our trip! She's a very smart lady, who knows how to handle a group our size. Our Europe trip was nothing short of amazing, as I've never been to too many places so it was easy to take it all in, learn & enjoy new experiences.

EF has been so accommodating to all of…

EF has been so accommodating to all of my requests over the last 15 years. We have had many wonderful adventures. The tour guides are knowledgeable; office people are also knowledgeable and extremely hardworking. Safety is of utmost importance to me as I am taking care of other people's children and EF delivers safety for my travellers.

Room for Improvement

The cities we visited were amazing! Our tour guide tried his best to keep us all together when he was guiding us around but without the use of a mic, only the few in the front could hear him (we were a large group of 51). As well, the tours with local guides were good but the students felt they were too long and would have liked more time to explore on their own. The first hotel we stayed in was terrible, food at that hotel was also horrible with many students and several chaperones getting sick after eating there. EF really should review their hotel choices as being sick for several days at the beginning of the trip negatively impacted the whole trip for those who were sick. As well, in noted in almost all EF reviews, hotels are too far from actual locations we would visit so spent a lot of time driving to and from (1-2 hours) when visiting cities/towns. Would like the option for an increase in price for more centrally located hotels.

The actual tour was excellent!

The actual tour was excellent. So much to see, almost too much, but obviously I want to return, hopefully some of my students do as well. I understand flight bookings for both groups can be difficult, but the layovers and the waiting to meet up day one was a little much. Strictly my opinion, but our last day at Oxford could have been dropped. Students and parents were tired, and it turned into just a free day for the most part.
