“ Tell me the truth / Or tell me a lie / Tell me what I’ve gotta say to get out of this room alive

Show me the answers / Or give me a clue / There’s not enough space in the miles between me and you

Oh no / Here we go / Here come the saints of violence and innuendo

So tell me truth / Are you really surprised? / You live in a world where empathy goes to die” –

Lyrics from “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo”

“Planet Zero” ( PRESS HERE to watch the new music video) and “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” introduce an album that sees Shinedown taking on the forces that keep us divided at a time when we need to be coming together. These songs warn of the dangerous dehumanizing consequences of cancel culture run rampant – if we shut each other down, we risk losing empathy, respect for one another, and our ability to communicate and unify in a way that leads to actual progress and understanding . Planet Zero is an incisive look at some of society’s most critical issues, including the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies , the need for honesty in our public discourse , and the corrosive effects of social media and cancel culture on mental health and humanity . Part  social commentary  and part in-depth  exploration of the human psyche, there is also hope, triumph, and reminders that we all need one another. After all, it is the band’s impassioned striving for unity  that has long been at the heart of their creative output.

The high-concept, ultra-vivid, viscerally charged album was produced by Shinedown’s Eric Bass (who also produced the band’s 2018 acclaimed album ATTENTION ATTENTION ,)and recorded at  Bass’ newly built Big Animal Studio in South Carolina.

Shinedown also recently made their ATTENTION ATTENTION feature film available worldwide. A stunning visual counterpart to their 2018 acclaimed album of the same name, the film brings to life the album’s narrative about a mental health journey and the resolve of the human spirit, weaving together 14 songs into a provocative and thought-provoking cinematic story that illuminates yet another dimension of Shinedown’s limitless creativity.  PRESS HERE to watch the trailer. The film, directed by Bill Yukich (Beyoncé, Metallica, Wiz Khalifa) is now available to rent and purchase worldwide on Vimeo and is available on iTunes in select territories. It is also available on digital and cable VOD in the U.S. and Canada , and on Blu-ray and DVD – PRESS HERE to purchase and watch.

Shinedown Announce ‘Planet Zero’ World Tour Dates

Shinedown Planet Zero World Tour

Shinedown have announced the UK and European leg of their ‘Planet Zero’ World Tour, set to arrive on these shores in November 2022. Tickets go on general sale here at 10am local time, Friday, June 17. Full itinerary below.

Shinedown frontman and vocalist Brent Smith states: “We have always been inspired by the UK and European audiences. Their passion for music is extraordinary. We are beyond excited to be returning as headliners, with our biggest show yet! “We are overwhelmed by the love and support of our new album, PLANET ZERO and look forward to sharing our new songs, along with all of your Shinedown favorites!!! Cheers!!!”

The last time the Florida band were on this side of the pond in 2019, they recorded their O2 Arena show for the spectacular ‘Live In London’ concert film which you can watch here.

Meanwhile, Shinedown’s hotly-anticipated seventh studio album, Planet Zero arrives on July 1st via Atlantic Records. The collection serves up an incisive look at society’s issues at hand: cancel culture running rampant, the corrosive effects of social media on mental health and society and the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies. Featuring the band’s explosive sound and incisive lyrics, the title track Planet Zero arrives with a dystopian warning of the consequences when we start to lose our compassion for one another and respect for those with alternate viewpoints or differing opinions.

CONCERT REVIEW: SHINEDOWN’s Planet Zero Tour Brings the Musical Heat to Mainsfield’s Rainy Tuesday Night (September 13th, 2022)

planet zero tour

This past Tuesday night the Planet Zero World Tour rolled into the Massachusetts’s Xfinity Center on a very humid, on and off rainy night but that didn’t stop the fans from showing up to tailgate in the parking lot a few hours before the doors opened. Games were being played, grills were smoking, and friends were being made getting ready to rock out while waiting. Hosting this tour was the one and only Shinedown . They brought some Tennessee boys out on the road with them to kick off this leg of the tour for some long exciting nights.

Opening up the night was John Harvie , an upcoming rock and roll artist with a hint of punk. During the pandemic he decided to take the music thing seriously and being asked to tour with one of the biggest names in rock and roll, he definitely made the right choice. Coming out on stage in a leather coat and pants was a bold move considering how hot it was in the crowd, let alone the stage! He actually made a comment about how it was not the right choice. The band behind him was energetic as each song was too. The seats weren’t full just yet, but he had some fun crowd interactions with getting hands up and waving side to side. Normally I would name off the band but it seems like he is more of a solo artist with backing musicians since I can’t find anything about them. With this tour he is supporting his new album that just dropped a few months back called “Told ya.” I have listened to it a few times and it’s a solid album. All in all, J ohn Harvie was a great half an hour act to open up this show.

The 90,900 capacity venue started to fill in more while the second act was getting ready to hit the stage. That being the rugged Tennessee king of music right now, Jelly Roll . Personally, I have been a huge fan since I discovered him listening to a rap playlist. Yes, a rap playlist. He has taken some hard moments in his life and has created music for a few genres connecting with so many people such as rap, rock, and now country, connecting the genres and making some amazing music. He entered the stage with a massive smile on his face and his amazing band ready to entertain us. As he introduced his band you knew it was a family.

Two badass guitarists, a rippin’ bass player, a fun jammin drummer, along with a DJ and a synth player. While introducing the band they played a mashup of music with songs rolling into one another, like ‘Sweet Home Alabama’, ‘99 Problems’ ,which by the way Zach Myers joined him to rap, and ‘Smells like Teen Spirit’ . Again, showing how clearly all sorts of music has shaped his style. Jelly Roll told the crowd he didn’t expect MA to show up for them, but the echoing of everyone signing the songs proved otherwise. People held up signs saying how his music saved their life, which he called out on stage to say he would be signing all of them which was really neat since I’ve only heard how humble this man is. Constantly pointing to fans, making eye contact, and signing along with them.

Usually photographers only get to shoot the first three songs, however, he allowed us to do what we love to do for his whole set! Again proving how humble he really must be. The stage presence was on fire. Literally, fire. Pyros popped off in almost every song at the right times when the bass drop would hit or the drummer ( Cody Ash ) would stand up to come down to smash on the toms, and all the sudden my face was melting. It was a great experience. “We came here together as a family” he said and you can just truly believe he meant it as we all felt it. Highly suggest you either check out his music or don’t miss a live show if it rolls through your town.

AT this point the arena was looking packaed, even though it was a “school night” and the weather wasn’t ideal. The twenty one year experienced band, Shinedown was about to take the stage. Not without a half hour stage set up taking place beforehand. Two massive screens stood on stage as the place went dark. It showed a montage from the tour and then into them presenting the album they are promoting on this tour, “Planet Zero” . The two massive screens then opened as the four members came out in a line to greet the screaming crowd. They then walked to their instruments and the show began.

Playing a variety of hits all night, from old to new, new to old, this polished band knows how to put on a show. An actual act. The band is a maestro and we were the orchestra. After the first two songs, they all bowed and lead singer Brent Smith said: “Welcome to our show”. Each member was charismatic, commanding the stage they stood on. They paid tribute to the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins at the end of a song playing a quick 15 seconds of “Hero” as Brent kissed up to the sky, which I thought was a class act, and they truly are.

Shinedown is represented by power house lead singer Brent Smith , well-known guitarist Zach Myers , bassist Eric Bass , and drummer Barry Kerch . As I said before they know how to put on a show: at some point Eric Bass told the audience that he wanted to bring a baby grand piano to Mansfield but it had to be suspended above the stage and it had to light up as he played it, well the hard working road crew made it happen, it was something I have never seen done before. Along with the massive light equipment that moved during every song to the band’s performance plus insane pyro and fireworks going off. It was an experience to say the least.

Watching friends, couples, and families sing to one another with huge smiles across their faces, you could feel love in the air. “What do you think the meaning of life is MA, it’s a very bold question but I ask you,” calling us a home to the band, “ Well in our opinion it’s to live it. Every single day.” said Brent Smith . He made all of us feel that on Tuesday night. After having our minds blown and our hearts filled with happiness with music, Shinedown brought out Jelly Roll to the stage to have him and the entire crowd sing ‘Simple Man’. Seeing thousands of cell phones lights light up the venue, this night ended tremendously. I could write about this performance for another page honestly, it was amazing. I never want to miss a Shinedown show again seeing this two hour performance.

The Planet Zero World Tour has been taking over cities the last few months from the UK to the US and they are not stopping til the end of the year. If you can get out to this tour, please do it. You will absolutely regret missing one of this shows.

SHINEDOWN Announces Dates For The ‘Planet Zero’ World Tour

Ahead of the April 22 release of their new album Planet Zero , multi-platinum band Shinedown have announced the Planet Zero World Tour (produced by Live Nation), with special guests Jelly Roll and John Harvie , and have also released “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo,” a brand-new song from the forthcoming album.

The Planet Zero World Tour begins in Bonner Springs, KS on September 3 rd , kicking off a 20-date U.S. run of fall shows that will see the record-breaking, chart-topping band bring their new music, #1 hits, fan favorites and biggest stage show yet to cities from coast to coast in support of Planet Zero . Tickets are available today at 10am local time at www.livenation.com . This leg of the Planet Zero World Tour also includes festival performances at Louder Than Life on September 23 in Louisville, KY and Aftershock on October 9 in Sacramento, CA. Full routing below, including The Revolution’s Live Tour kicking off April 1 with special guests The Pretty Reckless and DIAMANTE, followed by UK/Europe festival sets and select shows with Iron Maiden in June and Canadian dates with special guests Pop Evil and Ayron Jones in July and August. For tickets and all show details, please visit  www.shinedown.com .

While lead single “Planet Zero” – Shinedown’s record-breaking 18 th #1 – remains in the top spot at Active Rock Radio for the fourth consecutive week, the band has released album track “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo.” The frenetic yet massively catchy track takes on the platforms and institutions that don’t value honesty and instead use half-truths, false narratives and innuendo to push agendas that are often not reflective of the people’s best interest. PRESS HERE to listen to “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” and HERE to check out the lyric video. Pre-order Planet Zero HERE . Each pre-order includes an instant download of “Planet Zero” and “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo.”

“Planet Zero” ( PRESS HERE to watch the new music video) and “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” introduce an album that sees Shinedown taking on the forces that keep us divided at a time when we need to be coming together. These songs warn of the dangerous dehumanizing consequences of cancel culture run rampant – if we shut each other down, we risk losing empathy, respect for one another, and our ability to communicate and unify in a way that leads to actual progress and understanding. Planet Zero is an incisive look at some of society’s most critical issues, including the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies, the need for honesty in our public discourse, and the corrosive effects of social media and cancel culture on mental health and humanity. Part social commentary and part in-depth exploration of the human psyche, there is also hope, triumph, and reminders that we all need one another. After all, it is the band’s impassioned striving for unity that has long been at the heart of their creative output.

The high-concept, ultra-vivid, viscerally charged album was produced by Shinedown’s Eric Bass (who also produced the band’s 2018 acclaimed album ATTENTION ATTENTION ,) and recorded at Bass’ newly built Big Animal Studio in South Carolina.

Shinedown also recently made their ATTENTION ATTENTION feature film available worldwide. A stunning visual counterpart to their 2018 acclaimed album of the same name, the film brings to life the album’s narrative about a mental health journey and the resolve of the human spirit, weaving together 14 songs into a provocative?and?thought-provoking cinematic story?that?illuminates?yet another dimension of Shinedown’s limitless creativity.? PRESS HERE to watch the trailer.?The film, directed by Bill Yukich?(Beyoncé, Metallica, Wiz Khalifa)?is now available to rent and purchase worldwide on Vimeo and is available on iTunes in select territories. It is also available on?digital and cable VOD?in the U.S. and Canada, and on Blu-ray and DVD – PRESS HERE to purchase and watch.

Over the last two decades, multi-platinum band Shinedown – Brent Smith [vocals], Zach Myers [guitar], Eric Bass [bass, production], and Barry Kerch [drums] – have cemented their status as one of the most vital and forward-thinking powerhouses in modern rock. Their most ambitious and masterfully realized work to date, their seventh studio album Planet Zero (Atlantic Records) firmly places the group in the pantheon of artists capable of moving the culture forward on the strength of their singular vision, uncompromising honesty, and fierce commitment to constant evolution.

A high-concept, ultravivid saga that is part social commentary and part in-depth exploration of the human psyche, Planet Zero, produced by Bass, offers an incisive look at a strange and terrifying moment in human history and its implications for the future. Featuring Shinedown’s combustible yet artfully crafted sound and urgent lyrics, lead single “Planet Zero” rings the alarm on Shinedown’s dystopian warning regarding the issues at hand: cancel culture run rampant, the corrosive effects of social media, and the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies. While a raw ferocity fuels much of Planet Zero, there is also vulnerability, hope, and reminders that we all need one another. After all, it is the band’s impassioned striving for unity that deeply informed the making of Planet Zero. Not only a driving force for their songwriting, their humanitarian outlook led them to be one of the first artists to fundraise for non-profit humanitarian organization Direct Relief in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, raising more than $400,000.

Shinedown will soon embark on a world tour in support of Planet Zero beginning January 26th alongside the release of single “Planet Zero” and the album announcement, with their biggest stage show yet propelled by the undeniable power of front man Brent Smith’s voice.

Shinedown Announce Planet Zero and National Tour

planet zero tour

New York, NY – [January 26, 2022] – Multi-platinum rock band Shinedown have released their lead single “Planet Zero,” the title track from their newly announced seventh studio album out April 22 on Atlantic Records. Planet Zero serves up an incisive look at the issues at hand: cancel culture run rampant, the corrosive effects of social media on mental health and society, and the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies. Featuring Shinedown ’s explosive yet artfully crafted sound and urgent lyrics, single  “Planet Zero”  rings the alarm on a dystopian warning of the dangerous consequences to come when it all goes too far, and we begin to lose our respect for those with differing opinions and our compassion for one another.

PRESS HERE to listen to the single, and pre-order Planet Zero HERE . Each pre-order includes an instant download of “Planet Zero.” Check outthe first editorial interview about the album with front man  Brent Smith and bassist and producer Eric Bass for Billboard .

Says Brent , “If we shut each other down and allow ourselves to be divided by the information we consume and the way we talk to each other, we lose our humanity. When you look outside of your phone, you’ll see there are so many people doing good things and trying to take care of each other. But we’re starting to see parts of society slip into an unknown. Planet Zero was written for all of us. The fact is that we’re all here on this planet no matter what, so it’s time to actually move forward together with empathy, perseverance and strength. With that said….welcome to PLANET ZERO.”

Over the last two decades,  Shinedown  have cemented their status as one of the most vital and forward-thinking powerhouses in modern rock. Their most ambitious and masterfully realized work to date,  Planet Zero   is a high-concept, ultra-vivid, viscerally charged saga.  A critical yet optimistic look at the fractures and frays of a society that has undergone many challenges in the last few years, the album is part  social commentary  and part in-depth  exploration of the human psyche.  Produced by Shinedown’s Eric Bass (who also produced the band’s 2018 acclaimed album ATTENTION ATTENTION ,)and recorded at Bass’ newly built Big Animal Studio in South Carolina,   Planet Zero matches its immersive world-building and takedown of authoritarianism with a deliberately unvarnished sound, and the album is spliced with interludes featuring Cyren, an insidious and unsettling robot character that appears throughout the Planet Zero journey. While a raw ferocity fuels much of Planet Zero on tracks like “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo,” “No Sleep Tonight,” and “America Burning,” there is also hope, triumph, and reminders that we all need one another on songs like “Daylight,” “Dysfunctional You,” and “A Symptom of Being Human.”   After all, it is the band’s impassioned striving for unity  that has long been at the heart of their creative output and deeply informed the making of  Planet Zero . Not only a driving force for their songwriting, their humanitarian outlook led Shinedown to be one of the first artists to fundraise for non-profit humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief  in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, raising more than $400,000 with their “Atlas Falls” relief effort . Full Planet Zero tracklist is below.

Shinedown will be hitting the road in support of Planet Zero with their biggest stage show yet, propelled by the undeniable power of front man Brent Smith’s voice .   Shinedown kicks off the first leg of their U.S. tour with the Shinedown Live In Concert Tour tonight in San Francisco at The Warfield , before heading to Los Angeles for a show at The Wiltern on January 28 th . Fast-rising rock artist and one to watch, Ayron Jones, opens for Shinedown on this run through early February. Beginning April 1 , Shinedown will take their The Revolution’s Live Tour to more cities all across the U.S. in April and May,with special guests The Pretty Reckless and DIAMANTE. Later in May, Shinedown will head to Daytona Beach for Welcome To Rockville 2022 where they’ll headline Saturday, May 21 alongside Guns N’ Roses and Rise Against. In June, Shinedown will head overseas for a UK and European run featuring festival appearances at Rock im Park and Rock am Ring in Germany, Download Festival in the UK,and HellFest in France along with select shows with Iron Maiden .The band will then embark on a run of Canadian dates beginning in July with support from Pop Evil and Ayron Jones. Full routing below. For tickets and all show details, please visit  www.shinedown.com .

Planet Zero follows Shinedown’s 2018 acclaimed album ATTENTION ATTENTION , which was certified RIAA Gold . The band recently brought the LP to life in a riveting feature film . A visual counterpart to the album’s narrative about a mental health journey and the resolve of the human spirit, the ATTENTION ATTENTION film weaves together the album’s 14 songs into a provocative and thought-provoking cinematic story that illuminates yet another dimension of Shinedown’s limitless creativity.  PRESS HERE to watch the trailer. The film, directed by Bill Yukich  (Beyoncé, Metallica, Wiz Khalifa) is available for viewing on digital and cable VOD in the U.S. and Canada via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, Comcast, Dish Network, Verizon Fios, and Mediacom, and is also available for purchase on Blu-ray and DVD – PRESS HERE to purchase and watch.  It will soon be available in other international territories.

Shinedown drummer Barry Kerch, seen here with the band in Peoria in April 2021, talked about life on the road and the democracy of Shinedown. The band is out on the road now supporting their new album "Planet Zero."

INTERVIEW: Shinedown's 'Planet Zero' tour comes to St. Louis this Labor Day

On July 1, rockers Shinedown released their seventh studio album, "Planet Zero." After more than 20 years and millions of records sold, and after only a few weeks off from their last run of shows, the band kicked off the next leg of their "Planet Zero" tour on Aug. 25 in North Carolina.

Before packing for the road and ahead of Shinedown's Sept. 5 show at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, Mo., drummer Barry Kerch took a few minutes to talk about the new album, setting a tour setlist, and appreciating the fans for their years of support.

Mike Sorensen: I don't know if you ever take any time off the road, but I know you're getting ready for another run coming up. I had the pleasure to see you guys earlier this year in Peoria with the Pretty Reckless and Diamante. How do you guys pick who you take out when you go on tour? I know you've got Jelly Roll, and John Harvie on this upcoming run.

Barry Kerch: You know, we're lucky enough to where we ask, and they either say yes or no. When it came to the Pretty Reckless, Diamante thing, we just thought it'd be fun to have some female rock artists out, so that was kind of the theme. It worked really well. And then Jelly Roll kind of fell in our lap. Because most tours are planned at least six months if not a year out. So the conversation started happening way early. We reached out to him and said, maybe this is something you want to do.

Let me back that up. We had played a festival, I forget exactly where at some point last year, and he happened to be on the bill and we got to meet him. Turns out, he was a fan of ours, so we brought him on stage to sing "Simple Man" with us. We got to start a relationship there. So then we reached out and said 'man, we kind of like what you're doing. Would you open for us?' He said absolutely. That's how those things kind of come across. We're lucky enough to have the ability to ask artists and you know, some say no, but a lot of times they say yes and that's how this one happened.

MS: I know this tour, you guys are going out with the new album "Planet Zero" hitting everywhere. I know earlier, it was kind of like a pre-release tour, but we got to hear a few of the songs from it. It's been about four years since the last album. Was that intentional, or was that just the situation in the world?

BK: A little bit of both, honestly. I mean, we're never really fast on putting out records because we really concentrate on putting together the best record we can. We never go 'okay, here's the deadline, we have to have the record done by then.' That stifles creativity. We have done that in the past, on "Us And Them," and there are great songs on there. But it was a little rushed because we kind of put a timeline on ourselves, the label had their timeline. We don't do that anymore.

Then secondly, yeah, then COVID kind of made it a little difficult. We didn't know how much time we'd have, but we had time. We knew we weren't going to be touring for a bit, so there was no reason to rush, because we really couldn't go support it, right?

MS: Absolutely. I know when I have seen you guys, you like the big stage productions, the big open stages that almost everybody gets to run around on.

BK: Yes, I don't get to run around as much. I'm a little stuck in place but I'm okay with it. I like hiding behind my support guy, like hiding behind my kit.

Yeah, we're known for large productions, and we pride ourselves on that, we enjoy doing that, because fans pay a lot of money, with babysitters, tickets, parking, all that kind of stuff costs a lot of money to go to a show. And if they make the commitment to do that to come to our show, we want to give them the show and do the best that we can to get the show that we afford to bring. And every time we come out, we try to one-up ourselves.

MS: From the other side of what I do, I shoot photos of the concerts, also, I have to say, I appreciate them giving you some light back there because sometimes the drummer is tough to find.

BK: That's a constant battle. But luckily, we are four equal band members. It's democracy. So we try to make sure everybody's well seen and well lit for the audience. There are some bands whose kind of background players are each on his own. We'd like it to be everyone involved, all of us interacting with the audience.

MS: I have read that about you guys. I know a lot of bands say 'we're one big family.' You guys are living it.

BK: You know, every decision comes down to a band decision, not any person's decision, and the appreciation to the fans. We know that we wouldn't have our careers if it wasn't for everybody in that audience. And when Brent says that on stage every night, it's not because he didn't have anything else to say. It's the truth, and we want to make sure everybody knows that. You guys are the boss. We're lucky to be here because you put us here. So we're gonna give as much back as you give us.

It also stems from the band, you know? The four of us still get along, we still all ride the same bus, we still go to dinners together, we still hang out and laugh with each other. That's not to say we don't fight like brothers. Occasionally we do. But we really do genuinely care and love each other and still enjoy what we do. And we keep each other humble. If it wasn't us keeping each other accountable, I guarantee you our mothers would! But with that humility, we always try to carry that on, and pass it on to give it to the audience too. The only time we're 'rockstars' is that 90 minutes on stage.

MS: Well, speaking of which, I did want to ask, because you spend so much time on the road, what do you do personally, when you do have the days off, or the downtime between shows?

BK: You know, I'm pretty nerdy. If I'm in a good place to go outdoors, whether it's a hike, I bring my fly fishing gear with me and maybe some fly fishing, that kind of thing. I love to get outdoors. If that's not a possibility, I love good food, so I'll find great restaurants or find a great bar. And if that's not a possibility, a ew of us like to play board games and stuff so we'll get together and play board games. That's my day off.

MS: The fishing thing has come up a couple of times with people I've talked to now. Maybe it's just me hearing it more, but after (Iron Maiden's) Adrian Smith put out his book about fishing, I guess I never realized how many bands and artists do that in their downtime.

B K: Well, you know, when else would you have the experience to go 'OK, I just fished this river here, next day, I'm in New Mexico to fish in this lake. Oh, now I'm on the coast and I get to fish the ocean.' It's kind of cool, so why not take the opportunity if it's something you can do? Either in a group setting or by yourself.

I used to be a tennis player as a young man. I love playing tennis, but it's at least a two-person game. If we want to play board games, it's a two person thing. Fishing is you and yourself. A lot of bands play golf as well, but that's not my thing. But something that lets you get away from everybody is a plus. You live on a submarine, right, ride on a bus with everyone? Sometimes you want to get away.

MS: I can understand that.

BK: And I grew up in Florida. I still live in Florida, so it's just kind of in my blood.

MS: With the tour that's coming up now, with the album being out, are there any surprises or anything that fans should keep an eye open for on this run of shows?

BK: Yeah, one is that we've got Jelly Roll with us, and he's an amazing artist and a lot of fun so that's gonna be cool. When it comes to our show, we always bring in production. There'll be some surprises in that, and I think we'll also try to break out some of the newer songs as well. We'll still be giving everybody the greatest hits. As the band releases more records and has more singles out there, it gets harder to pick a setlist. You can only do so many songs and these places have curfews so after 11, they charge you. So it becomes difficult to create a setlist but we're definitely mixing it up in that respect. And bringing a big show. It's gonna be a blast.

MS: I don't envy you guys for trying to pick and balance that out between wanting to give a taste to something new, but making sure the fans are hearing the songs they want to hear, too.

BK: It's tough. Definitely sick and tired of hearing (some songs) after all these years, but it's about the fans.

MS: Yeah, I imagine it's probably easier when you've only got one or two albums out versus a 20 year career.

BK: Exactly. When your 20-something songs at radio are number ones, well 19 songs is a full setlist. That's why Eric and I have decided that we no longer make a list. We leave that to Brent and Zach. That way, there's no arguments. It's better with just two. Again, it comes down to that democracy thing.

MS: Is there anything you want to put out to fans? I know you guys are going to be in St. Louis near me on the fifth of September.

BK: For all the Shinedown fans out there, just thank you for the continued support over the years. It doesn't go unnoticed. We really appreciate it and are still very humbled by that. We hope you come out to the show and have a great time, because we're gonna give you the best show we can.

Shinedown's "Planet Zero" is out now wherever music is sold. The band will hit the stage this Labor Day in Maryland Heights, Mo. To get tickets for the show or to find other shows on the tour, head over to shinedown.com .

SHINEDOWN NEWS-New Studio Album Planet Zero-Out April 22 on Atlantic Records

New single “Planet Zero” and they kick off the U.S. tour now!

Multi-platinum rock band Shinedown have released their lead single “Planet Zero,” the title track from their newly announced seventh studio album out April 22 on Atlantic Records. Planet Zero serves up an incisive look at the issues at hand: cancel culture run rampant, the corrosive effects of social media on mental health and society, and the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies.

Featuring Shinedown’s explosive yet artfully crafted sound and urgent lyrics, single “Planet Zero” rings the alarm on a dystopian warning of the dangerous consequences to come when it all goes too far, and we begin to lose our respect for those with differing opinions and our compassion for one another.

Album Pre-Order – https://shinedown.lnk.to/planetzero Single Link – https://shinedown.lnk.to/planetzerosingle

After all, it is the band’s impassioned striving for unity that has long been at the heart of their creative output and deeply informed the making of Planet Zero. Not only a driving force for their songwriting, their humanitarian outlook led Shinedown to be one of the first artists to fundraise for non-profit humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, raising more than $400,000 with their “Atlas Falls” relief effort. The Planet Zero World Tour begins in Bonner Springs, KS on September 3 rd , kicking off a 20-date U.S. run of fall shows that will see the record-breaking, chart-topping band bring their new music, #1 hits, fan favorites, and biggest stage show yet to cities from coast to coast in support of Planet Zero . While lead single “Planet Zero” – Shinedown’s record-breaking 18 th #1 – remains in the top spot at Active Rock Radio for the fourth consecutive week , the band has released album track “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo.” The frenetic yet massively catchy track takes on the platforms and institutions that don’t value honesty and instead use half-truths, false narratives, and innuendo to push agendas that are often not reflective of the people’s best interest. PRESS HERE to listen to “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” and HERE to check out the lyric video . Pre-order Planet Zero HERE . Each pre-order includes an instant download of “Planet Zero” and “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo.”

You live in a world where empathy goes to die ” –

The cinematic video, filmed in London, was directed by Lewis Cater .

SHINEDOWN recently received iHeartRadio Music Award nominations for "Rock Artist Of The Year" and "Rock Song Of The Year" for No. 1 rock hit single "Planet Zero" . The band also announced that they will play the Blue Ridge Rock Festival at The Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia this September.

"Planet Zero" , produced by SHINEDOWN bassist Eric Bass , debuted in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and the official U.K. albums chart, and at No. 1 on six other Billboard charts, including Top Album Sales, Rock, Hard Rock, and Alternative Albums charts. With songs like No. 1 rock hits "Planet Zero" and "Daylight" , "Planet Zero" boldly confronts the societal forces that perpetuate divisiveness while offering a restorative path forward through empathy and open conversation — ultimately serving as a reminder that it is our human connections that matter the most.

SHINEDOWN brought "Planet Zero" to life across the globe last year, with the "Planet Zero" world tour culminating in a sold-out U.K. run at the end of 2022. The video for "Daylight" , set to the Amazon Original version of the song, is a love letter to the band's fans from the tour and the impact of the song's message — that you are never alone — can be seen in the moving video.

"Planet Zero" is the latest addition to SHINEDOWN 's record-breaking catalog that has earned the band recognition for their timely and relevant messages behind their chart-topping hits that resonate with not only their global audience and the rock community, but the greater public and our culture at large. With more than 6.5 billion global streams, 19 No. 1 Active Rock Hits, a Billboard record for the most mainstream rock No. 1 hits ever (18),15 platinum and gold singles, platinum or gold certification for all their albums, 10 million albums sold, countless sold-out arena tours, and major media praise, SHINEDOWN has cemented its status as one of the most vital and forward-thinking powerhouses in music.

“The Saints of Violence and Innuendo" is from the group's upcoming album.

Ahead of the April 22 release of their new album Planet Zero, multi-platinum band Shinedown have announced the Planet Zero World Tour (produced by Live Nation), with special guests Jelly Roll and John Harvie, and have also released "The Saints of Violence and Innuendo," a brand-new song from the forthcoming album.

The Planet Zero World Tour begins in Bonner Springs, KS on September 3, kicking off a 20-date U.S. run of fall shows that will see the record-breaking, chart-topping band bring their new music, #1 hits, fan favorites and biggest stage show yet to cities from coast to coast in support of Planet Zero. Tickets are available today at 10am local time here .

This leg of the Planet Zero World Tour also includes festival performances at Louder Than Life on September 23 in Louisville, KY and Aftershock on October 9 in Sacramento, CA. Full routing below, including The Revolution's Live Tour kicking off April 1 with special guests The Pretty Reckless and DIAMANTE, followed by UK/Europe festival sets and select shows with Iron Maiden in June and Canadian dates with special guests Pop Evil and Ayron Jones in July and August. For tickets and all show details, please visit here .

While lead single "Planet Zero" - Shinedown's record-breaking 18th #1 - remains in the top spot at Active Rock Radio for the fourth consecutive week, the band has released album track "The Saints of Violence and Innuendo." The frenetic yet massively catchy track takes on the platforms and institutions that don't value honesty and instead use half-truths, false narratives and innuendo to push agendas that are often not reflective of the people's best interest.

"Planet Zero" and "The Saints of Violence and Innuendo" introduce an album that sees Shinedown taking on the forces that keep us divided at a time when we need to be coming together. These songs warn of the dangerous dehumanizing consequences of cancel culture run rampant - if we shut each other down, we risk losing empathy, respect for one another, and our ability to communicate and unify in a way that leads to actual progress and understanding.

Planet Zero is an incisive look at some of society's most critical issues, including the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies, the need for honesty in our public discourse, and the corrosive effects of social media and cancel culture on mental health and humanity. Part social commentary and part in-depth exploration of the human psyche, there is also hope, triumph, and reminders that we all need one another. After all, it is the band's impassioned striving for unity that has long been at the heart of their creative output.

The high-concept, ultra-vivid, viscerally charged album was produced by Shinedown's Eric Bass (who also produced the band's 2018 acclaimed album ATTENTION ATTENTION,) and recorded at Bass' newly built Big Animal Studio in South Carolina.

Shinedown also recently made their ATTENTION ATTENTION feature film available worldwide. A stunning visual counterpart to their 2018 acclaimed album of the same name, the film brings to life the album's narrative about a mental health journey and the resolve of the human spirit, weaving together 14 songs into a provocative and thought-provoking cinematic story  that  illuminates  yet another dimension of Shinedown's limitless creativity.
