The NRSC Travel Program offers competitive-level soccer under advanced instruction. Teams play in the OHTSL (Ohio Travel Soccer League – OHTSL.COM ) against other Greater Cleveland area community travel programs.

Teams practice twice per week in addition to playing an 8-game fall and 8-game spring schedule.   Half of our 8-game Fall and Spring Schedules are played right here at Lucille Heasley Soccer Field, our home field.

Additional information about our program and Travel registration fees can be found on our registration page .

Our teams compete in one local tournament in the Fall and one in the Spring. The additional tournament fee is $60 each. In October we play in The Ohio Travel Cup in Lodi. In Early June we play in The MIST in Medina. Every team and player is committed to participating in these tournaments, and all players are expected to meet the deadlines posted on www.nrsc.net for tournament registration. Travel players are also encouraged to participate in, as available, winter, indoor training, and off-season indoor leagues. These are also at an additional cost to the players.

Tryouts for the upcoming Fall/Spring soccer year are held the last week of May. Dates and times will be published on this page. An invitation to join the program for the fall & spring seasons will be sent to successful tryout candidates following the conclusion of the spring season in June. The email will include registration instructions & fees, as well as uniform ordering instructions & costs.

A complete uniform kit that should last several years is required for all travel players at an additional cost, currently between $120 & $130. Kits include 2Jerseys, shorts, & socks.

BEWARE OF THE BEARS

Commitment to Excellence

Travel soccer requires a significant commitment from players and parents – above and beyond what is normally expected in recreation leagues.

Some of these commitments could include: Additional practice time (2-3 days/week); Travel to away games (weeknights and weekends); Weekend tournaments (in and out of the Northern Ohio area); Travel team uniforms; Fund-raisers for tournament fees; Footskill clinics.

It is important to discuss these commitment issues as a family before deciding to play travel soccer.

Intent to Coach Travel form

If you are interested in coaching a travel team, you must complete an Intent to Coach Travel form. When completed, please email it to Larry Zajac .

Buckeye Travel FAQ

Who is eligible to play for a buckeye travel team.

A child must be a resident of the Buckeye Local School District or expect to be a resident by the start of the season.

How are teams selected?

Tryouts are held in May of each year.  Players are assigned teams based on evaluations at tryouts and with input from the head coaches.

Can players from within the same community program play/sub on other teams in their program?

Yes, a player can play on another age and skill appropriate team. ■ Age = players may play/sub on teams of the same age & up a max of 2 yrs, players may not play down . ■ Skill Appropriate = a top player of a D1 team should not play/sub on a D3-D5 team

Where can I find the rules?

Rules may be found at  on the OHTSL website at: https://ohtsl.com/procedures.php

What is a typical travel season like?

Both the  fall and spring seasons consist of 8 games (usually one per week) and two practices per week. Games are usually played on Sunday afternoons but there might be 2 or 3 played on a weeknight.  A typical fall season goes from the first week of August – Mid October.   A typical spring season starts in April and will typically wrap up in early to mid June.

How much travel is involved?

Each season (Fall and Spring) teams play 4 home and 4 away games in their league. The home games are played at the Buckeye Soccer Association fields behind the High School tack/soccer stadium.  The away games are played in other communities in and around Northeast Ohio.

What type of commitment is required?

The commitment for the Travel Soccer Program  is a year of play. The year consists of Fall and Spring sessions.

It is expected that your child will arrive on time for all practices, games unless you have notified the head coach in advance.

How is playing time during games handled?

Playing time is not guaranteed, but head coaches are directed to attempt to distribute playing time fairly and try to even out game to game variations over the season to help continue the development of the players.  Playing time is generally more equal in “League” games as Development of players in those games is our primary objective.

Welcome to avon soccer.

Avon Soccer League Association (ASLA) was founded in 1981 by a local soccer enthusiast, John Timar.  At that time ASLA was represented by only one co-ed team of 20 players. Today ASLA has grown to over 1,000 players between both the recreation and travel divisions.

ASLA was designed to create a positive environment where the children of Avon can make friends, have fun, stay healthy, and play soccer to represent their community.  Proudly, ASLA is today recognized as one of the premier community soccer programs in all of northern Ohio.  ASLA offers training, league play, summer camp, and year-round programming for players between the ages of 3 and 14 years of age.

Respect Refs

NWOYSL  & Ohio Soccer Association strongly encourages spectators and coaches to  let players play ,  let referees ref , and  set an example  for appropriate behavior and messaging during every game. Pressure from the sidelines is one of the leading causes of children/youth and referees leaving the game.  Instead, NWOYSL & OSA encourages all sideline spectators to help build a positive, supporting environment by sharing appropriate messages – and whenever necessary, simply walking away when frustrated.  The truth is – there will be calls you don’t like or agree with. Both players and referees will make mistakes. Heckling them about it does very little other than discourage both of them and provide them reason to consider leaving the game.  What kind of work environment do you enjoy? It’s probably not one where people are yelling at you all the time.

Please join us in setting a  positive  example for all, and encourage others to do the same.

Our game has no place for disrespect!

Travel Information

northern ohio travel soccer league

The travel program offers young athletes an opportunity to play a more competitive level of soccer than what is found in the area recreation programs. The travel teams of our club proudly represent the Mayfield area playing teams from surrounding communities in Northeast Ohio as part of the OHTSL . The travel program aims to further develop its participants as “students of the game” by reinforcing more advanced technical skills, developing tactical awareness, enhancing physical conditioning and focusing on sportsmanship by providing good training opportunities and sound coaching. Our travel program encompasses the following:

  • Two 8 game outdoor seasons (Fall & Spring)
  • Foot-skills
  • Team practice
  • One (1) outdoor tournament
  • Indoor off-season training program
  • Club registration fees are $400 plus uniform costs (estimate approximately $85 for uniforms)
  • Payment plan available

OHTSL Heading Rule

Heading is not allowed in ages U8, U9, U10, and U11. If in the referees opinion a player intentionally heads the ball the result shall be an indirect free kick awarded to the opponent at the spot of the infraction. If the header is in the box, it will result in an indirect free kick just outside of the box.

Age Divisions

Travel teams are formed based on birth-year registration.  This is inline with mandates by the U.S. Soccer Federation.  See the chart below to determine which division your child belongs in.

For decades, two passionate organizations worked tirelessly to provide the support and resources necessary to grow youth soccer in Ohio. One operating in northern Ohio and the other in the south, they shared ideas and inspiration but they honored the lines drawn and structures of the past because that’s the way it was always done.

But starting in 2021, we’ve merged – and to change the landscape, we’re challenging the ways it’s always been done.

We’ve come together to redesign the landscape of soccer in Ohio; to expand our reach so more kids can play; and to provide a better experience for everyone from players to parents and coaches to administrators.

Now, Ohio is  A State United . We are Ohio Soccer Association.
