These Rankings are the World Bowls Tour Rankings as at the end of the current season after the International Open and will be the Players Official Rankings going forward to the start of the commencing Season. The first page of the Ranking List shows the Top 21 of which the Top 16 get automatic entry to all World Bowls Tour Ranking events. The Top 8 Players will also automatically play in the World Mixed Pairs and choose their respective partner from the Top 16 for the World Open Pairs.

World Bowls Champs confirmed for Gold Coast in 2023

The World Bowls Championships will be staged on the Gold Coast in 2023, more than three years after it was originally planned to be held.

Controlling body World Bowls (WB) , host nation Bowls Australia (BA) and principal partners Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) and Major Events Gold Coast (MEGC) have confirmed that the sport’s pinnacle international competition will be played from August 29 to September 10, 2023, some 1179 days after it was first meant to be contested before COVID-19 postponements.

Originally scheduled to commence on May 26, 2020, the event first suffered two postponements to its scheduling and was then ultimately cancelled due to travel restrictions impacting the 36-attending nations.

Organisers have undertaken to hold the first staging of a revised competition format in 2023, which will move to a biennial rather than quadrennial staging and do away with all barrier qualifying events to increase global participation, across the three previous planned Gold Coast clubs; Broadbeach, Helensvale and Musgrave.

BA Chief Executive Officer Neil Dalrymple said confirmation that the benchmark international competition would occur on the Gold Coast in 2023 was a coup for the region and for the sport of Bowls in Australia.

“This exciting announcement ensures that the sport’s premier event remains in a bowls heartland, with unparalleled facilities and conditions conducive to the best staging of the event ever witnessed,” Dalrymple said.

“We’re very appreciative of the support afforded from the event’s key stakeholders, including Tourism and Events Queensland and Major Events Gold Coast, and host clubs Broadbeach Bowls Club, Club Helensvale and Club Musgrave.”

WB Chief Executive Officer Gary Smith said he was appreciative of all stakeholders’ efforts in reaching new competition dates to ensure the event’s viability.

“World Bowls’ decision to now stage the sport’s flagship event biennially and allowing all Member Nations to be eligible to participate has been widely welcomed,” Smith said.

“Following the cancellation of the 2020 World Championships, scheduled to be staged on the Gold Coast, we are delighted that the beautiful Gold Coast with its excellent club facilities and outstanding greens are hosting the 2023 World Bowls Championships.”

Tourism and Sport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the Palaszczuk Government had worked closely with organisers on the timing of the World Bowls Championships.

“Our bowls facilities on the Gold Coast are a world-class legacy of the 2018 Commonwealth Games,” Mr Hinchliffe said.

“Queensland has also worked hard to manage the health impacts of the pandemic.

“We’re eager to see this global event bring the best Australian and international competitors together on the Gold Coast, pandemic permitting.

“We’re looking forward to August 2023, when we hope a large contingent of overseas competitors will be able to return to Australia for a genuine world championship.

“Not only does then Gold Coast have truly the world’s best bowls infrastructure, it’s also Australia’s favourite holiday destination with Queensland famous beaches, visitor experiences and hospitality.

“Right now, we’re optimistic about international bowls on the Gold Coast in 2023.”

City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said the event would showcase the region and welcomed the world’s best bowlers to the city in 2023.

“To see our city host this incredible tournament underscores the hard work and planning that went into the GC2018 Commonwealth Games as well as so many other national and international sporting carnivals we have staged here since,’’ said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.

“The world bowls championships are not only thrilling to watch but create a fever pitched atmosphere as competitors from different nationalities show off their skills. Go Australia.’’

The host nation’s BCiB Australian Jackaroos will be hoping to better their historic haul of five gold medals from eight disciplines earned from the last time the event was held ‘Down Under’, at the 2012 edition in Adelaide.

The Jackaroos were also the best-performed team at the most recent 2016 event in New Zealand, with four gold, two silver and a bronze from the eight disciplines contested.

BA acknowledges the invaluable support of Tourism and Events Queensland and Major Events Gold Coast in the preparation and delivery of the 2023 World Bowls Championships event.

The World's Highest Grossing Tours of 2023

According to analysts at Pollstar, total grosses for the top 100 tours that year were up 46 percent from $6.28 billion in 2022 to $9.17 billion last year. Attendance figures were also up, rising from 59 million to 70 million - an increase of 18.4 percent.

The following chart is based on data collected by Pollstar on the world’s highest grossing tours of 2023. It reveals that at the top of this list, comes Taylor Swift with her record-breaking “ Eras Tour ” - the first ever to break the $1 billion mark - which visited 60 stadiums in total. It was followed by Beyoncé’s “Renaissance Tour”, which grossed some $580 million in 56 shows and Bruce Springsteen’s “Springsteen and E Street Band 2023 Tour” which grossed $380 million across 66 venues.

Ticket prices for the top 8 grossing worldwide tours ranged between an average of $105.16 for an Ed Sheeran ticket to more than double that for Taylor Swift - $238.95.

Big 12 Softball Tournament bracket: Full TV schedule, scores, results for 2024 championship

S ome of the nation's best college softball teams are set to start their postseason journey with the upcoming Big 12 Conference softball tournament .

No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 4 Oklahoma State are each looking to bolster their top-tier resumes for the upcoming NCAA Tournament with a strong showing in one of the country's best conferences.

The Sooners (46-6, 22-5 Big 12) led the conference standings entering the final weekend of the regular season. However, they dropped two of three games against Oklahoma State (44-9, 21-6) at home to fall behind Texas (45-6, 23-4) in the final Big 12 standings.

The Big 12 standings were rounded out by Baylor, UCF, BYU, Kansas, Texas Tech, Iowa State and Houston, respectively. Here's the full bracket for the Big 12 softball tournament:

The Florida Gators won the 2024 SEC softball conference tournament on May 11 at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama. The Gators defeated No. 5 Missouri to claim their sixth SEC tournament championship and tie Alabama for most conference tournament wins in program history.

2024 Wells Fargo Championship Full Field: A Major Warm-Up, Minus Scottie Scheffler

The season's second major is next week at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky., and most of the top PGA Tour players will get a warm-up for it this week.

The Wells Fargo Championship is a signature event, meaning an exclusive field of 70 players competing for a $20 million purse. But unlike the last signature event, the RBC Heritage, many of the game's best won't be coming in off an exhausting major week.

Also unlike the last signature event, this field won't have to deal with Scottie Scheffler. The world No. 1 went from winning the Masters to winning at Harbour Town, a back-to-back feat not seen since 1985. As he's still awaiting his first child, he'll sit out this trip to Quail Hollow.

Wyndham Clark returns as the defending champion. A year ago he grabbed his first PGA Tour win at Wells Fargo, then took that momentum to Los Angeles Country Club to win the U.S. Open six weeks later. Also in the field is Max Homa, a two-time winner who broke through as a first-time winner at the 2019 event.

Rory McIlroy is a three-time winner and, with Scheffler out, is the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 2 in the world. Taylor Pendrith arrives from the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, where he won for the first time on Tour and will make his first signature event appearance.

Quail Hollow gets back into the major rotation in 2025 for the PGA Championship, so the Wells Fargo Championship will move to a different site next year.
