As someone who is really into films from the golden age of Hollywood , visiting Hollywood just has that certain charm to it.

But the best way to really get the full immersive experience, is to do a Backlot Studio Tour.

There are many options like the Warner Bros Studio Tour, Sony Pictures, Adventures By Disney: Disney Backstage and Paramount Pictures.

But my personal favorite is the one we will be doing a deep dive of today, The World-Famous Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood.

When it comes to a walkthrough, because the tour can change so frequently that you may not see the same thing every time.

However, there are certain staples that you will guarantee to see unless under refurbishment.

Time to Start the Tour

Before you take your seat on the tram, you are asked to pick up a pair of 3D glasses , which the tour guide will let you know when to put on throughout the tour.

As you go off, you will take a drive down the hill to the lots and get some insight on the history of the studio.

The start of the tour goes the the studio hits with a combination of the tour guide giving insight and Jimmy Fallon hosting on the screens in the tram.

You’ll also see movie posters on either side with the debut year.

The Soundstages

Along the tour you will pass various working soundstages along with some of the current and past films and shows that filmed there.

Stage 12 is the busiest and biggest with over 29,000 square feet.

It was home to films like Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, all three Jurassic Park movies and Back to the Future.

Soundstage 12 was also home to the iconic NBC tv series, “The Voice.”

Residential Streets

You will come across various general-purpose sets like residential streets, Main Street Squares and more where films like:

Along the tour, you will experience various special effects demonstrations and staged events. Here is what you can see, with it being subject to availability:

Jupiter’s Claim

The most recent addition to the studio tour is the Jupiter’s Claim set from Jordan Peele’s “Nope.”

This is the actual western theme park set from the film that was disassembled during pre-production and debuted during the tour the same day as the film’s opening.

King Kong: 360 3D

With your 3D glasses, you will enter Skull Island and go through a harrowing adventure, encountering various twists, turns and creatures not seen since days of dinosaurs.

And yes, you will encounter Kong!

If you have ridden the Kong attraction at Universal Islands of Adventure, its almost shot for shot the same experience.

Fast and Furious: Supercharged

This is another 3D experience within the tour that takes you through the streets with Dom Torretto and the cast of the Fast and Furious Franchise.

It is an exact copy of the attraction at Universal Studios Florida.

Pyscho: Bates Mansion & Bates Motel

One of the biggest draws for the studio tour is the Bates Motel and Mansion.

At the mansion, you will pass by the mansion with Norman awaiting you on the porch. As you leave, you will narrowly escape his attack as he approaches with a rubber knife.

At the hotel, you will come across Norman carrying what seems to be his most recent victim and putting them in the trunk.

Once spotted, he slowly comes for the tram with a rubber knife.

Disaster Zone

Here you’ll journey through the disastrous wreckage of the Boeing 747 from Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds.

It’s one of the most amazing, yet terrifying set pieces on the whole tour!

If you do the Universal VIP Experience , you’ll be able to get even closer and walkthrough the actual wreckage.

Flash Flood

During your tour, you will stop in the street of a Mexican Village and a storm will quickly roll in.

Suddenly, you will be caught in the midst of a flash flood, watching as the storm waters rush towards you from down the village hills.

Here you’ll get to see some of the most famous cars from your favorite movies such as the Harry Potter Films, the Flintstones, Jurassic World and more!

Jurassic Park

The Tram tour continues through the Isla Nubar set , encountering some silly dinosaurs along the way.

Along the way, you will get to see props and pieces from the Jurassic Park films.

Another extremely popular staged event during the tram tour is encountering Bruce.

As you drive through the harbor area , everything is peaceful and serene.

But if you have seen the film, you know it’s not all it seems. Bruce eventually makes a shocking appearance!

Celebrate 4th of July at Universal Studios Hollywood: Fireworks, Tips, Food and more!

The tram tour enters a San Francisco Subway Station underground when a sudden 8.3 earthquake hits.

This effect is achieved with a hot set, in which certain props stay in place and won’t move.

The hot set features flooding water, a derailed subway train, a gasoline truck crashing through the roof with fire and spark effects.

History of the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour

For context, Universal Studios Hollywood is still a working film studio.

It’s on top of being a theme park nestled within the glimmering San Fernando Valley hills of Universal City.

To this day, it is still one of the oldest film studios to exist to this very day.

While some like myself also visit to enjoy the shows and attractions that the theme park side offers, one should ALWAYS make time to enjoy the studio tour.

In fact, this is how Universal Studios Hollywood started its roots as a theme park!

The Early Days of Universal Studios Hollywood

Back in 1914, Carl Laemmele purchased a ranch in the San Fernando Valley and Universal City was born!

It included the studio itself, a working zoo, its own police force and mayor, along with Native Americans living on the land.

On March 14, 1915, Universal Studios had a two-day grand unveiling with approximately 10,000 guests in attendance.

Later on, for the price of 5 cents (about $1.50 in today’s money), visitors could come and see everything that went on inside the huge studio while it was cranking out movies.

At the time, Universal City was still rural, and visitors were able to purchase fresh produce.

Their admission included a boxed lunch with chicken as well!

However, because of the rise of “talkies” or Movies with sound in 1927 and the fact that sets were not yet soundproof, the tour was ended in 1930.

MCA Takesover Universal Studios Hollywood

Once MCA (Music Corporation of America) took over in 1962, it was suggested that the tour be reopened once again to increase revenue.

The Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour was revitalized on July 15, 1964, and technically that is the day the theme park was born.

Upon its return, it featured dressing room walkthroughs, peeks at productions and later down the line, staged events.

One of the early issues was giving things for younger children to do.

Earlier parts of the tour included the Ark Park petting zoo, which was an expanded version of the zoo already on site.

It boasted 200 animals and birds representing over 30 different species.

The Flash Flood Scene is Added to the Studio Tour

In 1968, the Flash Flood scene was added due to a screen actors guild rule that stated that visitors couldn’t visit soundstages.

This meant they couldn’t show as much of the real experience and improvised with these special effects addition.

It proved extremely successful with 20,000 gallons of water rushing down the street of a Mexican Village.

In 1970, the Animal Actors Stage School was opened, which sadly recently closed to make way for the rumored Fast and Furious roller coaster.

Many things have come and gone with the tour such as a King Kong Encounter, a Battlestar Galactica laser battle, a rockslide and a collapsing bridge.

Today, the tour still remains one of the most popular attractions at the park, featuring tour guides, some who would later become celebrities in their own right.

7 Beginner Tips for Riding the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood

• Try to make the tour one of the very first things you do for the day as the line gets longer once the park opens.
• The best place to sit on the tram depends on what specifically you wish to see. My favorite is in the middle on the right side.
• Be mindful to go to the bathroom prior to boarding as the tour will not stop.
• Before entering down the walkway entrance, to your left hand side on the building wall is a board that will tell you everything that is filming that day and what you may see on your tour.
• Make sure to eat something and bring water with you just in case.
• The tour ends about 45 minutes to 1 hour prior to park close so plan accordingly.
• Best time to do the tour is first thing in the morning, lunchtime between noon and 1 p.m. or close to park close.

Halloween Horror Festival 2022 at Movie Park unleashes Hollywood’s darkest side yet with three big novelties!

BOTTROP-KIRCHHELLEN — The Horrorwood Studios are once again awakening from their demonic spell and the hour of the apocalypse at Movie Park Germany is approaching! This year, the Halloween Horror Festival heralds the hours of horror for the 24 th  time and demons and zombies have forged a new dark pact: With three big new additions and a few surprises, guests will be lured away from the Hollywood spotlight of Movie Park to the darker side of the Horrorwood Studios. The new horror house “Hell House” is just waiting for brave victims to get to the bottom of the Horrorwood Studios’ original story. The new spectacular Halloween live show “Madhouse – Insanity Lives Here” at Studio 7 makes nightmares come true on stage and an elaborate Halloween mapping show highlights the park’s darkest side. Evil can’t be held back much longer and this year it is already awakening at the end of September: from September 24 to November 13, Europe’s biggest Halloween event will take place on 27 selected days – and thus has more event days than ever before on the sinister program schedule.

“The Halloween Horror Festival has enjoyed great popularity for years. That’s why we are already starting this season at the end of September to offer our guests even more event days,” says Managing Director Thorsten Backhaus. “We are excited to further develop our Halloween event and to present three big novelties that have not yet been seen at Movie Park in this form. To strengthen our identity as a movie and theme park, the Horrorwood Studios will be even more prominent in the future.”

The cornerstone of the Horrorwood Studios: the new horror house “Hell House” An abandoned place full of mischief, forgotten by mankind: In the new horror house “Hell House”, guests can dive into the history of the Horrorwood Studios and their origins. All visitors aged 16 and over can get to the bottom of the root of all evil in 14 detailed rooms. “The ‘Hell House’ is probably the most immersive and interactive horror house Movie Park has to offer to date,” says Halloween Project Manager Manuel Prossotowicz. “Visitors will become even more a part of the Halloween experience and can look forward to some surprises and horror elements that have not been seen at Movie Park in this form before.”

Like many filmmakers, Spencer Mayfield was a young man with big dreams, obsessed with the desire to achieve fame and fortune in the burgeoning Los Angeles film industry. However, numerous years of failure drove him into a deep depression and to a decision that changed everything: He invited a medium into his home for a séance to conjure up a dark force that would help him succeed with his film studio. That night, Spencer Mayfield killed his entire family and the staff in his house in the cruelest way. From then on, a dark demon had taken possession of him and drove him to create the dark side of the film industry in Hollywood: the Horrorwood Studios. Today, the dilapidated mansion is considered a popular lost place. But alone and on foot, the so-called “Hell House” is almost impossible to reach – only selected tour guides know the way and where it is located on the huge studio grounds. This is also the start of a new adventure for the brave guests. Once they board the bus of the Lost Place Explorer Tour, they enter a soulless place where the devil lurks just behind the walls…

Music and sound design for the “Hell House” were provided by long-time partner IMAscore. The technical implementation and media content were realized with the subsidiary IMAmotion. In addition, a hand-drawn logo visualized in 3D and a fully individualized animatronic by the manufacturer Hüttinger were contributed by them. The demonic sets of the old mansion were built by the talented team of Dekowerk, just like the horror houses “Slaughterhouse” and “Wrong Turn” before.

New Halloween live show “Madhouse – Insanity Lives Here” at Studio 7 Evil awakens not only in the dark but also in the spotlight! With a new Halloween live show at Studio 7, Movie Park Germany brings the worst nightmares on stage. For this new production, cooperation partner Dark Thrills Entertainment has brought together talents from around the world. Acts that won over the judges on “America’s Got Talent,” “Das Supertalent,” “Italy’s Got Talent” and even a world record holder who picks his own nostrils will be on stage. Shocking thrills, laughs and chills lurk around every dark corner.

Eerie things are going on at Black Hill Asylum. The walls echo with the haunting footsteps, screams and horrors of those trapped here for all time. Viewers of the new live show not only get to know the patients and terrifying staff of this godforsaken mental institution. In their quest to heal humanity, they also discover the cruel experiments of Dr. Hans Killmen, feared head of the psychiatric hospital.

New Halloween mapping show in front of the Red Carpet Store A new monstrous Halloween character comes to life – accompanying guests through a three-and-a-half-minute mapping show that turns the facades of the Red Carpet Store, as well as the entire park, in a terrifying display of music, effects and 3D graphics. This new apocalyptic debut will also incorporate popular park characters and attractions, as well as the new “Hell House” maze.

The new mapping show was realized within three months with a 6-person team from IMAscore / IMAmotion. A graphic designer, a media designer, a 3D artist, a sound and music designer, a director and a technician were involved. The visual production and hardware installation was done by IMAmotion, the music and sound production by IMAscore. As part of this, a custom song was also composed for the newly designed Halloween character, who vocally provides a higher pulse and the right Halloween atmosphere at the Horrorwood Studios during the mapping show.

The devilish attraction menu: eight horror houses and three scare zones As the Halloween Horror Festival has been a tradition at Movie Park Germany for 24 years, guests can also look forward to their favorite horror houses. In addition to the new maze “Hell House”, these include “The Curse of Chupacabra”, “Project Ningyo”, “The Slaughterhouse”, “Fear Forest” and “Hostel”. This year again, appropriate to the ominous tradition, the artists have rearranged the “Circus of Freaks” and changed the routing. “Secrets of St. Elmo” is also back on the program list of horrors and gets an update.

A popular nightmare returns: Haunted Lantern for Secrets of St. Elmo Dutch company “Haunted Lantern” makes its vicious comeback this season. Using special technology and handy lanterns, it brings a little light into the darkness – at least for a moment. Some guests may already have dark memories of the special companions and know them from the former horror attraction “Wrong Turn” from 2018 and 2019. Thus, their resurrection may be celebrated with old and new victims alike. The previous run of the attraction with shooters will completely be replaced by an experience with lanterns and the detailed setting of the attraction will show a new, sinister side.

Horrorwood entertainment and festival atmosphere The hypno-casting is back! Master of senses Stephan Nölle has already prepared his casting studio and is just waiting to take the guests back into the subconscious with his hypnosis art. At the end one question remains: Is it all real or does it just take place in the spectators’ heads?

For all those who can escape the dangers of the Horrorwood Studios, the next Halloween party is taking place in the scare zone “Acid Rain”.  DJ Max Bering , who is known from Parookaville and already played next to greats like David Guetta, Felix Jaehn or Martin Solveig, will again provide the soundtrack for everyone who wants to insert a party scene in their horror movie. With him at the turntables on selected days are also three well-known guest DJs: T.M.O., Oliver Magenta and MBP.

Movie Park’s longtime B2B event partner,  Caab Events  will also be adding to the Halloween food and festival offerings, providing a food truck with new culinary snacks.

More bloodbusters for the 24 th  Halloween Horror Festival From the depths of Derry’s sewers, horror returns directly to the big screen at the Roxy 4-D Cinema in the form of Stephen King’s  “IT” .

After dark, the Horrorwood Studios will also once again produce a true horror flick: In the coaster bloodbuster “ Movie Park Studio Tour – Final Cut ,” the filming of the final scenes of the day is taken over by monsters. The special edition of the Multi Dimension Coaster will once again be open daily from September 24 from 6:30 p.m. for all guests aged 16 and over.

Ready for the next round of “ Baboo Twister Express “? This year again, the popular “MP Xpress” variant brings visitors a little closer to the afterlife and draws them into new in-between worlds with light effects and rock music.

For all families, Movie Park Germany once again offers its popular  Halloween for kids in Nickland  from 12 noon to 5 p.m. daily. In addition to a straw maze on the bumper car area of “Back at the Barnyard Bumpers” or a children’s horror house, there are numerous activities for all 4- to 11-year-old Halloween fans.

When the full moon rises over Horrorwood Studios, you know your hour of reckoning has struck. Are you brave enough to face all the monsters, zombies and serial killers from the scariest horror films? Then dare to enter the nightmare factory this autumn and watch your deepest fears come true!

When the Halloween Horror Festival casts its dark shadows in October and November, over 280 monsters are let loose on our guests to guarantee the perfect horror atmosphere. Fall under the dark spell of our multi-day event in the streets of our park and put your survival instincts to the test in our special Scare Zones.

And of course, a spooky souvenir photo is a must-have. We’re putting  fun and safety  first, with a set of tried-and-tested hygiene and infection control measures that we put together in coordination with the authorities!

Our littlest guests won’t notice any of the spooky goings-on thanks to the monster-free zone specially set up for them in NICKLAND. They can enjoy a fun children’s and family Halloween event, complete with a specially designed kids’ maze. And with other classic Halloween activities such as pumpkin carving and scarecrow-making, every little Halloween fan can enjoy a fun, spooky experience.

Our Halloween Horror Festival is held on selected event days in October and November. On these days, our studio doors are open until 10 pm.

What's New on Universal Studios Hollywood's 60th Anniversary Studio Tour in 2024?

NBC Insider took the summer glow-up Studio Tour for its Diamond Anniversary and we've got tips to share!

It's a big year for the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour . In operation since 1964, the tours have evolved massively across six decades, originating with their iconic red and white Glamor Trams to today's multi-car shuttles which wind around the sprawling Universal backlot. 

To celebrate their Diamond Anniversary of the Studio Tour, Universal Studios Hollywood is giving guests lots of new experiences from now through August 11 to get a taste of what the tour was like back in the day mixed with all of its innovations today. 

NBC Insider recently jumped on a tram car to get a first hand perspective on the tour and we've got some tips on how to plan your day at the theme park with the Studio Tour for efficiency.

When should you plan to take the Studio Tour?

The entrance to the Studio Tour is on the Upper Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood. Make a right at The Simpsons  cross section and the dedicated escalators take guests down to the queue for the trams. If you want shorter lines, go earlier in the day. That's the best time to get on trams with less crowds. However, if you're looking for an escape from the sun, the Studio Tour queue is completed shaded and the tour itself keeps you covered even during the hottest times of summer days. 

Know that the Studio Tour is about one-hour long, but the special summer tour will add some extras that may extend your experience beyond an hour. Keep that in mind too if you have other places to be, are hungry or have timed shows to see.

What's different about the anniversary Universal Studio Tour in 2024?

Plenty! Going on a decade now, we're well-versed on all of the minute changes to the Studio Tour which are usually pretty subtle. But this special iteration has whole new routes, a lot of new video material with Master of Ceremonies Jimmy Fallon and Universal Pictures luminaries like Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, Jordan Peele and Jack Black, along with plenty of fresh movie history shared from the mouths of the tour guides.

Since the back lot is a working studio, not every attraction on the Studio Tour route will be available during the week. However, weekends give Studio Tour riders a better shot at seeing all stops because film and television shows are rarely in production on Saturdays and Sundays. That being said, the new route will oftentimes take riders through the city facades, past many of the massive sound stages and standing sets like Little Europe and the Western streets and the flooding street area used in many films and TV shows.

The Courthouse Square is another area of note which features the clocktower from Back to the Future. This tour will feature a DeLorean and Doc Brown to greet you as you pass through. There's a temporary return of the 1976 Runaway Train which used to be part of the Studio Tour and featured warning bells and sirens to scare riders. There's also an amped up Jurassic World section which features a dimensional Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur and pens holding some cranky Dilophosaurus that screech and roar as you pass by in the tram.

As for attractions that are part of the Studio Tour, riders will still experience Peter Jackson's 3D Kong Island; a newly renovated Earthquake—The Big One attraction that reproduces the effects of a major quake; the Jaws lagoon attack; a ride through Jupiter's Claim from Nope and the 3D enhanced Fast & Furious - Supercharged finale. 

What's at the new step-off point in the middle of the Studio Tour?

Outside of the Halloween Horror Nights Terror Tram experience, this summer's updated Studio Tour is the rare time when riders can get out of the tram to walk amongst the Psycho motel and experience some unique photo opportunities. 

Midway through the tour, the tram will stop at a drop off point at the Bates Motel. There, you can walk amongst movie props, or take a picture next to Marion Crane's car, or an original, fully restored 1964 vintage Glamor Tram. There's also the best place to frame a photo op with the perfectly scaled replica of the Hollywood Sign setup just for this anniversary tour. 

Once you've had your fun in this area, around the corner is an even bigger area of photo ops where you can get yourself sitting pretty between two Fast and the Furious picture cars; cuddle up inside King Kong's fist or proudly reveal your humongous catch of the day, which is a more than life-sized reproduction of the shark in Jaws . 

Things to know as you plan your visit: on less crowded days, you can make the rounds of these photo ops quickly and then hitch a ride back on revolving trams that are ready to pick you up and continue the rest of the tour. On busier days, you will need extra time to queue for each photo op as there will be lines. Regardless, there will be a tram waiting for you to get back on when you are ready. And don't worry, there is cold bottled water available at this stop to purchase if you're feeling hot or thirsty. 

Are there collectibles to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Studios Tour?

Absolutely! Throughout the theme park and in the Universal Studios Store at the entrance, you'll find an array of fun shirts, mugs, magnets, and more emblazoned with vintage art that features the Glamour Tram. There's also a collectible popcorn bucket with Woody Woodpecker at the wheel of the Glam Tram that holds a lot of popcorn you can refill through the day, then take home to remember your trip.

If you're more of a foodie, there's a Dining Pass celebrating the 60 th  anniversary with special food offerings just for the summer event. Regardless of how you tackle the Studio Tour, remember that it's part of your Universal Studios Hollywood admission ticket so make space for it when you visit. You won't be disappointed.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A new one-night experience for Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights promises smaller crowds and shorter wait times — for a price.

Premium Scream Night will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, with tickets going on sale Thursday, June 6.

Premium Scream Night guests will experience all of the haunted houses, scare zones and live entertainment, but without the crowds expected on a typical Halloween Horror Night.

Ticketholders will also get staggered entry by group into the haunted houses, all-you-can-eat food and non-alcoholic drinks, an exclusive event credential and lanyard, access to some of the Universal Studios Florida attractions and free self-parking.

Tickets will be $350 plus tax for regular visitors, and $325 plus tax for Universal annual and seasonal passholders.

Halloween Horror Nights has already released the themes for six of the haunted houses, all with original concepts.

HHN opens for all guests on Aug. 30 and runs on select nights through Nov. 3.

Het Halloween Horror Festival 2022 ontketent met drie nieuwe attracties de meest duistere kant van Hollywood! Het nieuwe horrorhuis "Hell House", een spectaculaire Halloween Live Show in Studio 7 en de Halloween Mapping Show staan garant voor 27 eventdagen boordevol actie en horror (Bottrop-Kirchhellen, 24 augustus 2022) De Horrorwood Studio’s ontwaken opnieuw uit hun demonische stilzwijgen en het moment van de apocalyps in Movie Park Germany is in aantocht! Het Halloween Horror Festival luidt dit jaar al voor de 24e keer het uur van het kwaad in, en ook nu weer hebben de demonen en zombies een nieuw duister pact gesloten: bezoekers worden ver weg van de Hollywoodspotlights van Movie Park meegenomen naar de duistere kant van de Horrorwood Studio's, waar drie nieuwe attracties en een aantal verrassingen op hen wachten. Het nieuwe horrorhuis "Hell House" wacht geduldig op de moedige prooi die het aandurft om de ware geschiedenis van de Horrorwood Studio's te onderzoeken. In de nieuwe, spectaculaire Halloween Live Show "Madhouse – Insanity Lives Here" in Studio 7 komen je ergste nachtmerries tot leven en tijdens de uitgebreide Halloween Mapping Show laat het park zich van zijn meest duistere kant ooit zien. Het kwaad is niet meer te stoppen en begint dit jaar al vanaf eind september aan zijn onheilspellende opmars: tussen 24 september en 13 november vindt, verdeeld over 27 dagen, het grootste Halloween-event van Europa plaats – nooit eerder stonden er zoveel eventdagen op het duivelse programma. "Het Halloween Horror Festival is al jaren bijzonder populair. "We blijven het Halloweenevent verder ontwikkelen en we zijn blij dat we de bezoekers dit jaar drie totaal nieuwe attracties kunnen bieden met een vormgeving die nog niet eerder in Movie Park te zien was. En om onze identiteit van film- en attractiepark te versterken, willen we de Horrorwood Studio’s in de toekomst een grotere rol toebedelen." De hoeksteen van de Horrorwood Studio’s: het nieuwe horrorhuis "Hell House" Een door de mensheid vergeten, onheilspellende en verlaten plek. In het nieuwe horrorhuis "Hell House" duikt de bezoeker in de geschiedenis en het ontstaan van de Horrorwood Studio's. Bezoekers vanaf 16 jaar kunnen in 14 met de grootste zorg vormgegeven ruimtes op zoek gaan naar de wortel van het onmetelijke kwaad. "Het ‘Hell House‘ is ongetwijfeld het meest immersieve en interactieve horrorhuis ooit in Movie Park", vertelt Halloween-projectmanager Manuel Prossotowicz. "Op deze manier wordt de bezoeker nog actiever bij de Halloween-beleving betrokken en er staat ze ook tal van verrassingen te wachten die volledig nieuw zijn voor Movie Park." Spencer Mayfield was, zoals zoveel andere filmmakers, een jonge man met grote dromen. Hij zou het helemaal gaan maken in de dynamische, bloeiende filmindustrie en hij was bezeten van rijkdom en roem. Maar na jaren van mislukking werd hij zwaar depressief en nam een besluit dat zijn hele leven volledig zou veranderen: Om zijn filmstudio succesvol te maken, nodigde hij een medium bij hem thuis uit die tijdens een sessie een duistere macht moest aanroepen. Nog diezelfde nacht heeft Spencer Mayfield zijn hele gezin en personeel op een gruwelijke manier vermoord. Een kwade demon had zich van hem meester gemaakt en bracht hem ertoe de duistere kant van de filmindustrie in Hollywood te realiseren: de Horrorwood Studio’s. Het vervallen herenhuis is nu een populaire "Lost Place". Maar het zogeheten "Hell House" is in je eentje en te voet nauwelijks te bereiken - alleen speciale tourguides kennen de weg en weten waar het huis zich op het gigantische studioterrein bevindt. En dat is de start van een nieuw avontuur voor de moedige bezoeker. Want wie in de bus van de Lost Place Explorer Tour stapt, vertrekt naar een zielloos oord waar de duivel achter iedere muur op zijn prooi wacht... De muziek en het sound-design voor "Hell House" zijn een creatie van de jarenlange partner IMAscore. De dochteronderneming IMAmotion tekende voor de technische realisatie en de media-content. Daarnaast creëerden ze een met de hand getekend, in 3D uitgevoerd logo en er werd een volledig geïndividualiseerde animatronic van producent Hüttinger toegevoegd. De duivelse sets in de oude villa werden gebouwd door de talentvolle medewerkers van de firma Dekowerk, die ook al de decors verzorgden voor de horrorhuizen "Slaughterhouse" en "Wrong Turn". Nieuwe Halloween-Live-Show "Madhouse – Insanity Lives Here" in Studio 7 Het kwaad manifesteert zich niet alleen in de duisternis, maar ook in het licht van schijnwerpers! Tijdens de nieuwe Halloween-Live-Show in Studio 7 komen in Movie Park Germany de ergste nachtmerries tot leven. Speciaal voor deze nieuwe productie verzamelde Dark Thrills Entertainment, een van de partners waar Movie Park mee samenwerkt, talenten van over de hele wereld. Op de planken staan acts die de jury's van shows als "America's Got Talent", "Das Supertalent", "Italy‘s Got Talent" wisten te overtuigen en er is zelfs een wereldrecordhouder die in zijn neusgaten boort. Sensationele shocking acts, lachen en huiveren, wisselen elkaar in een duister tempo af. In het Black Hill Asylum gebeuren de engste dingen. In de muren weerklinken de spookachtige voetstappen, schreeuwen en angsten van personen die hier voor de eeuwigheid gevangen zitten. Tijdens de nieuwe Live Show maakt het publiek kennis met de patiënten en het angstaanjagende personeel van deze godverlaten zenuwinstelling. In hun zoektocht naar genezing van de mensheid ontdekken ze welke gruwelijke experimenten Dr. Hans Killmen, de gevreesde directeur van de psychiatrische kliniek, hier uitvoert. Nieuwe Halloween Mapping Show voor de Red Carpet Store Er is een nieuw monsterachtig Halloween-personage tot leven gewekt dat de bezoeker meeneemt in een drieënhalve minuut durende Mapping Show met een angstaanjagend spel van muziek, speciale effecten en 3D-graphics - en dat niet alleen op de gevels van de Red Carpet Store, maar door het hele park. Een apocalyptisch debuut waarin naast populaire personages uit het park, maar ook de nieuwe Maze "Hell House" een rol spelen. De nieuwe Mapping Show werd in drie maanden tijd gerealiseerd door het 6-koppige team van IMAscore / IMAmotion. Aan de show werkten een grafisch ontwerper, een mediaontwerper, een 3D-kunstenaar, een geluids- en muziekontwerper, een regisseur en een technicus mee. De visuele productie en de hardware-installatie werden verzorgd door IMAmotion, voor de muziek en het geluid tekende IMAscore. Er werd voor het nieuwe Halloween-personage ook speciaal een song gecomponeerd om tijdens de Mapping Show in de Horrorwood Studio's de Halloween-sfeer nog extra te versterken en de hartslag angstwekkend de hoogte in te jagen. Het duivelse attractiemenu - acht horrorhuizen en drie scare zones Het Halloween Horror Festival is al 24 jaar lang een traditie in Movie Park Germany en dat betekent dat bezoekers opnieuw in hun favoriete horrorhuizen kunnen rondwaren. Naast het nieuwe horrorhuis "Hell House" kunnen ze dit jaar ook weer griezelen in "The Curse of Chupacabra", "Project Ningyo", "The Slaughterhouse", "Fear Forest" en "Hostel". En geheel in stijl van de onheilspellende traditie hebben de artiesten van het "Circus of Freaks" ook dit jaar een labyrint gecreëerd dat je de stuipen op het lijf jaagt. Een ook "Secrets of St. Elmo" staat dit jaar met een angstaanjagende update opnieuw op het programma. Comeback van een populaire nachtmerrie: Haunted Lantern voor Secrets of St. Elmo De Nederlandse firma "Haunted Lantern" maakt dit seizoen een boosaardige comeback. Dat betekent een beetje licht in de duisternis - voor héél even - met behulp van speciale techniek en stevige lantaarns. Sommige bezoekers zullen nog met angst terugdenken aan deze speciale reisgenoten die in 2018 en 2019 bij de voormalige horror-attractie "Wrong Turn" werden ingezet. Een wederopstanding die we vieren met oude en nieuwe prooien. De shooters van deze attractie worden compleet vervangen door een beleving met lantaarns, waarmee aan de tot in detail uitgevoerde setting een nieuwe, duistere dimensie wordt toegevoegd. Horrorwood-entertainment en Festivalsfeer Hypno-Casting is terug! Stephan Nölle, betoveraar van de zinnen, zit al klaar in zijn casting-studio om bezoekers met zijn hypnosekunsten te ontvoeren naar de wereld van het onderbewuste. Blijft uiteindelijk altijd de vraag: Was het nu echt of speelt zich alles alleen maar in het hoofd van de toeschouwer af? Voor wie erin is geslaagd aan de duivelse gevaren in de Horrorwood Studio’s te ontsnappen, stapt in de scare zone "Acid Rain" voor de volgende Halloween-Party. De soundtrack voor de partyscène van de horrorfilm wordt ook dit jaar verzorgd door DJ Max Bering, niet alleen bekend van het festival Parookaville, maar ook van zijn optreden met grote namen als David Guetta, Felix Jaehn en Martin Solveig. En dit jaar staan drie bekende gast-dj's op het programma: Zo zullen T.M.O., Oliver Magenta en MBP bij hem aan de turntables aanschuiven. Om het gastronomische aspect en de festivalsfeer verder uit te breiden, zal de jarenlange partner van Movie Park voor B2B-events Caab Events met een foodtruck en culinaire snacks aanwezig zijn. Nog meer bloodbusters voor het 24e Halloween Horror Festival In de Roxy 4-D bioscoop duikt het kwaad opnieuw op uit dieptes van de riolering van Derry in de vorm van de film "It" van Stephen King. Bovendien wordt in de Horrorwood Studio's, na het vallen van de duisternis, gewerkt aan een nieuwe horrorfilm: In de achtbaan-bloodbuster "Movie Park Studio Tour – Final Cut" worden de laatste filmopnames van de dag door monsters verzorgd. Vanaf 24 september zijn bezoekers van 16 jaar en ouder dagelijks vanaf 18:30 uur welkom in de Special Edition. Klaar voor een volgende ronde "Baboo Twister Express"? De populaire "MP Xpress"-variant brengt bezoekers ook dit jaar weer een stukje dichter bij gene zijde en neemt ze met lichteffecten en rockmuziek mee naar nieuwe tussenwerelden. Voor gezinnen is er in Movie Park Germany dagelijks tussen 12:00 en 17:00 uur opnieuw de populaire Kinder-Halloween in Nickland. Naast een stro-labyrint op de botsauto-baan "Back at the Barnyard Bumpers" en het kinder-horrorhuis worden er voor de Halloweenfans tussen de 4 en 11 jaar nog tal van andere activiteiten georganiseerd. Tickets voor het Halloween Horror Festival Een ticket voor Movie Park geeft recht op een verblijf van twaalf uur, inclusief vier uur Halloween Horror Festival met in de straten een griezelige sfeer en ijzingwekkende ontmoetingen met monsters in de drie scare zones. Movie Park Germany raadt de Halloween-fans ook dit jaar aan om hun tickets online te kopen. Dat neemt niet weg dat de dagkassa dagelijks geopend is voor de bezoeker die spontaan langskomt. Maar tijd-tickets voor de horrorhuizen kunnen uitsluitend online worden gekocht en moeten bovendien bij de ingang van het park worden gereserveerd. Dit heeft Manuel ook toegelicht toen ik een interview had voor ScarePod met hem. Ze willen meer naar experiences toe, nadeel daarvan is altijd dat het een lagere capaciteit heeft. Dus betekend ook dat er een hogere prijs aan hangt.

Doordat ze nu extra geld binnen krijgen naast de entree en uitgaven in het park, kunnen ze ook meer investeren in het event.

Ik ben niet zo'n fan van die experiences met lagere capaciteit. Het is al duur genoeg op zo'n avond als je meerdere huizen wil doen. Geef mij maar gewoon een mooi gethematiseerd spookhuis waar je met grotere groepen doorheen gaat of zoals bij Universal in een 'conga' line (dus continue achter elkaar door lopen) en dan voor een lagere prijs.

Echt? Mijn 1e Halloween ervaringen waren toen Six Flags Holland het 2e jaar halloween vierde, toen was het echt in opkomst, dus nog lang niet zo polonaise en druk als het nu is, hoogstens de laatste avonden oid die dan echt druk waren. En ondanks dat de kwaliteit van huizen, doorloop, scares etc etc enorm verbeterd zijn tegenover nu blijven de rustigere, kleine groepjes ervaringen toch wel beter in mijn gedachten. Ook een experience zoals Alone in Busch Gardens was enorm tof om mee te mogen maken.

Ik zou toch echt wel tegenwoordig de kwaliteit boven de kwantiteit verkiezen als ik de kans heb eigenlijk. Dus ja, het kost best wat extra, maar als daardoor de kwaliteit en ervaring echt beter is dan heb ik dat er wel voor over.

Het is dat mijn schema tot eind oktober al achterlijk vol zit, maar ik had anders graag de nieuwe huizen in Moviepark geprobeerd.

Tonnie Ieder natuurlijk zijn eigen mening, maar een spookhuis wordt er voor mij niet veel beter door als de groepen kleiner zijn. Maar ik geniet ook meer van de thematisering in de spookhuizen dan van het echte schrikken.

Dat ze entree voor de spookhuizen vragen is inderdaad heel begrijpelijk. Maar de prijs is wel opeens erg hoog zo. Je bent 56 euro kwijt als je alles wilt doen. Waarom niet een all-in pas aanbieden met alle ervaringen voor bijvoorbeeld 45 euro?

Dus het is nog even afwachten wat ze precies gaan doen want het lijkt mij best een goede optie om een all-in-one ticket te doen zodat mensen toch lekker de huizen kunnen doen. Vorig jaar bij Toverland de all-in pas gehaald en was daar zeer blij mee van mij mogen ze dit ook doen bij MPG. Je kan aansluiten in de rij wanneer je wilt en je kan alle huizen prima doen op een avond.

erider Ieder natuurlijk zijn eigen mening, maar een spookhuis wordt er voor mij niet veel beter door als de groepen kleiner zijn. Maar ik geniet ook meer van de thematisering in de spookhuizen dan van het echte schrikken.

Dat hangt vooral van het spookhuis af. Maar 9/10 spookhuizen werken met effecten die op een bepaald moment af gaan. Bij grote groepen (of zelfs gewoon één doorlopende sliert wat je bij drukte soms krijgt) gaan een groot deel van de effecten op een verkeerd moment af, waardoor je vaak gewoon de helft van het spookhuis mis loopt (in eigen ervaring zou ik zelfs durven zeggen dat het veel meer dan de helft is). Ook de sfeer is beduidend bedompter als je er met een kleine groep of zelfs alleen bent.

Het is dan ook niet voor niets dat de betere halloween events daar op proberen in te spelen. Fort Fun heeft wel eens een spookhuis gehad wat je alleen of met twee deed (de versie met 2 werd je tegen elkaar opgezet) en in Engeland zijn er tal van spookhuizen te vinden die écht alleen in kleine groepjes werken.. maar ook spookhuizen waarbij ieder een kap op zijn hoofd krijgt (metgezellen zijn dus wel in de buurt, maar je voelt je toch alleen) of zelfs in Alton Towers eens een spookhuis gedaan waarbij de gehele groep bezoekers dusdanig opgesplitst werd dat je gegarandeerd NIET met je eigen groepje door het spookhuis ging. Het geen mensen ook behóórlijk uit hun comfort zone laat gaan.

Een mooi voorbeeld was Curtains. Het basis principe waren allemaal kamertjes van ongeveer een vierkante meter. Je stapt het kamertje binnen en links, rechts en voor je zijn gordijnen. Je moet een gordijn open maken om de doorgang naar het volgende kamertje te vinden. Achter het gordijn kón de doorgang zitten, maar dus ook gewoon een muur of een venster met scare actor. Er waren aardig wat variaties.

Dit concept werkt simpelweg niet met een sliert aangezien je dan de gordijnen niet meer open hoeft te maken: Die staan dan vrijwel altijd open.

Op andere manieren werkt dat altijd zo wel..

Dus om eerlijk te zijn: Als je beweert dat het geen verschil maakt, denk ik niet dat je veel ervaring met halloween hebt. Of in elk geval niet met de betere spookhuizen (waar niets mis mee is, ik bedoel het niet als aanval, maar als een uitnodiging)

Coasterfrenzy Haha, ik niet veel ervaring met halloween. Heb halloween gedaan in Walibi Holland, MoviePark (meestal 4 keer per jaar), Universal Studios Florida (meestal elk jaar), Bush Gardens Tampa, Bobbejaanland etc. Nogmaals het is mijn eigen mening als ik me er niet aan stoor als je met grotere groepen tegelijk door een spookhuis gaat en daardoor de kosten lager blijven. Mijn favoriete halloween event is Halloween Horror Nights in Universal Studios Florida waar ik al meer dan 10 keer ben geweest. Wordt een beetje moe om mijn eigen mening te verdedigen en dan uitgemaakt te worden voor iemand die niet veel ervaring met halloween heeft. Ik vind bijvoorbeeld Below in Walibi Holland geen 15 euro waard, vind de kosten gewoon te hoog om dan regelmatig zo'n huis te doen.

Tickets zijn binnen voor 22oktober. Ik ben benieuwd. Betalen voor de ervaring juich ik alleen maar toe. Laatste keer dat ik er was werden de huizen meer als een polonaise doorlopen.

Wij hebben vijf huizen gekozen om te doen.(hellhouse, chupacabra, witch forest, st Elmo en Slaughterhiuse) Tijdsloten zijn 15 minuten. Dus 19:00 betekent 19:00-19:15 ingangstijd.

erider Voor de volledigheid mijn Resumé aan halloween Ervaringen: The Horror Zone, Walibi Holland, Horror Nights (EP), Heide park, MPG, Fort Fun, DLRP, Port Aventura, X-Treme Scream Park, Tulley's Shocktober Fest, Tulleys The howl, Carneskys Gost Train, Chessington, Thorpe, Alton Towers, Dreamland, Universal Studio's Hollywood & Japan, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneysea, Fuji-Q, Sendaviva, PWM, Parque d'Attractiones, Bobbejaanland, Bellewaerde, Mundo Verde, Holiday Park, En dan nog vele kleinere lokale initiatieven (die doorgaans niet noemenswaardig zijn). Ik zal vast nog wel wat vergeten.

Busch Gardens ben ik dus niet met halloween geweest. De rest van wat je op noemt wel (alhoewel: Universal niet in Florida, maar wél in Hollywood en Japan). Om eerlijk te zijn: geen van allen vind ik nog een sterk Halloween event bieden. Ik snap ook niet hoe je boos kunt worden om je mening te verdedigen als je dat gewoonweg niet doet en je volstrekt aan alle argumenten voorbij gaat, terwijl je zelf niet echt aan geeft waarom je die mening hebt. (natuurlijk: Soms is het gewoon smaak en dan valt er weinig aan uit te leggen, maar dat lijkt me hier niet zo heel erg van toepassing).

On Topic: Movie park had vroeger een best goed halloween event, maar de laatste jaren is er duidelijk meer ingezet op kwantiteit in plaats van kwaliteit. Mooi dat ze zo veel spookuizen bieden, maar wat is de meerwaarde als ze allemaal een beetje hetzelfde zijn? (zelfde geldt overigens voor best veel parken). Wat dat betreft vind ik het heel goed dat men met het nieuwe spookhuis weer kiest om voor een kwalitatiever ervaring te gaan.

Juist Movie Park heeft al ervaring met hoe het snel door jagen van mensen niet werkt: Mensen die willen kijken naar een mooi opgezette scene (of gewoon een animatronic die 30seconden duurt), die vervolgens niet mogen blijven kijken en door gejaagd worden om de capaciteit te verhogen. Een effect dat in de laatste jaren steeds meer en meer voor kwam. Maar ook het schrik-effect van de beruchte clown-gallerij, waar het overgrote deel van de bezoekers aan passeert zonder dat ze het ooit merken is gewoon zonde. Dit soort dingen zorgen er simpelweg voor dat de ervaring voor bezoekers niet goed is (of in elk geval: niet zoals het zou moeten zijn). Dus mooi dat MPG er actie op neemt. Hoe je het ook went of keert: Dat doe je als park niet met polonaises.

Al blijf ik er bij dat het ook goedkoper had gekund. Zeker omdat ik absoluut niet verwacht dat de bestaande spookhuizen een upgrade hebben gehad die de prijs rechtvaardigt ten opzichte van de gratis versie vroeger.

Uiteraard het het kwantitatief toevoegen van spookhuizen een mogelijkheid om drukte te spreiden en zo minder gasten per spookhuis te ontvangen. In de praktijk blijkt dat helaas niet (meer) te werken. Wat dat betreft zou ik het ook niet erg vinden als het park wat minder, maar daarvoor wel betere spookhuizen neer zet.

Coasterfrenzy maar even een laatste reactie omdat ik weer van allerlei zaken beschuldigd wordt. Ik vind het geen probleem om met grote groepen tegelijk door een spookhuis heen te gaan als daarmee de prijs lager kan blijven. Ik vind thematisering in een huis vaak het belangrijkst en ik kan dat ook goed zien met een grotere groep. Daarom is Halloween Horror Nights in Universal Orlando mijn favoriete Halloween event, omdat het daar meer om de thematisering gaat dan het schrikken, alhoewel er soms zoveel acteurs in een huis zitten dat ze je toch wel laten schrikken. Jij hebt daar blijkbaar een hele andere mening over, aangezien je zelf al aangeeft dat je het Universal Halloween event een minder event vindt. Ik respecteer jouw mening helemaal, het is tenslotte aan iedere individu wat ze leuk vinden aan Halloween. Zou het ook fijn vinden als je mijn mening respecteert. Ik begrijp dat jij liever meer betaald voor een huis als dat betekent dat je met kleinere groepjes erdoorheen gaat en de ervaring dan meer persoonlijk is. Wat dat betreft is het prima als een park beide typen spookhuizen aanbiedt. Maar goed, ga verder niet meer reageren op wat we beide als mening hebben over hoe een Halloween huis of event moet zijn. Laten we het weer gaan hebben over Halloween in MoviePark.

erider Ik beschuldig niemand.. althans: Zo bedoelde ik het in elk geval niet. En deze uitleg laat in elk geval zien waarom je er zo over denkt en dat kan ik dik waarderen.

En begrijp me niet verkeerd; Theming is zéker belangrijk en is wellicht de belangrijkste factor om de sfeer goed te kunnen neerzetten. Sterker nog: Juist die sfeer kan een vorm van eng-heid opleveren die onder je huid kruipt. Iets wat een Jump Scare nooit zal kunnen. Dat is waarom de clown-gang in MPG zo gewaardeerd wordt (OK, slecht voorbeeld omdat het hier niet door de theming komt). Persoonlijk vind ik dat ook steeds het slechtste aan spookhuizen: Gewoon donkere gangen zonder iets er in of er aan. Het kan heel soms werken als overgang, maar het moet niet de standaard worden.

Ik ben geen liefhebber van Halloween (wel van pompoenen) maar wil best een herfstdagje naar Movie Park. Op de site van het park zie ik dat de horror nights om 18uur beginnen, dus voor die tijd zal er naast een verdwaald hakmes en wat spinnenwebben weinig horrors te beleven zijn, neem ik aan. Is het overdag dan kwa drukte goed te doen? Of raden jullie aan het bezoek naar het voorjaar uit te stellen?

Thies Stel je bezoek lekker uit, het is overdag ook extreem druk in Moviepark Germany. Al helemaal met hun beleid met Speedy Passen is het niet te doen op een drukke dag.

Thies Ga niet tijdens Halloween naar MPG voor de attracties dan sta je gewoon bij de grote rides zomaar 1.5 a 2.5 uur te wachten.. Ik ga alleen maar voor de spookhuizen en laat de rest echt links liggen behalve in de avond in Nickland want daar is dan niemand en kan je zo overal doorlopen heerlijk om af te wisselen 😄

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
