16 daagse safari best of kenya

verzorging: All Inclusive

hotelinformatie: Overnachting in Bamburi Beach Resort *** in Mombasa of Baobab Beach Resort **** in Diani Beach

Welcome in Africa!

verzorging: Volpension

hotelinformatie: Overnachting in Sarova Salt Lick Lodge *** in Taita Hills

hotelinformatie: Overnachting in Amboseli Sopa Lodge *** in Amboseli

hotelinformatie: Overnachting in Panari Hotel *** in Nairobi

hotelinformatie: Overnachting in Mara Sopa Lodge *** in Masai Mara

The Summarized, 16 Days, 15 Nights, Kenya Safari and Beach Itinerary

The detailed, kenya safari itinerary 16 days, 15 nights tour.

Our 16 days and 15 nights itinerary lets you explore everything this beautiful country has to offer, from its bustling cities to its incredible wildlife preserves. Plus, you’ll relax on some of the world’s most stunning beaches when you’re not exploring. Check out our detailed itinerary below for more information on what you can expect during your trip!

Day 1: Pickup from JKIA, Giraffe Center Tour, David Sheldrick Tour, & Nairobi National Museum Tour

Your charming and knowledgeable private tour guide will be waiting to receive you at the airport with a broad African smile. Our guides arrive 30 minutes before your plane lands so you can be sure someone is waiting for you to welcome you to Kenya for your holiday .

After greetings, the guide will welcome you to your exclusive 4×4 safari land cruiser and start your Kenya safari and beach vacation . We recommend you book a plane that lands at JKIA in the morning so you can head straight to Giraffe Center .

Visit Giraffe Center

When Jock Leslie-Melville and his wife Betty were starting the AFEW (Africa Fund for Endangered Wildlife), there were not more than 120 Rothschild’s Giraffes in our country. Their numbers were slowly dwindling due to the severe loss of habitat in Western Kenya.

The two answered the desperate call of nature to save this remarkable giraffe species. Many years later, its population was almost three times the number in 1979. The center presents these rare beauties to you.

Located 5km from Nairobi, Giraffe Center allows you to interact with these stunners by feeding them, petting them, and playing with them. Also, within the center is 95 acres of natural forest that houses numerous Warthogs and birds.

Walks around the forest are magical with the lush green environs, melodious humming of birds, and sightings of game life teeming up to ensure your encounter is nothing short of spectacular.

Visit David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

After two or three hours, you shall head to David Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage . Here, you will get a rare opportunity to see why poaching is a monster.

The orphanage takes in calves orphaned through poaching, natures them to life, and when the time is right, re-introduces them to the wild by releasing them into the Tsavo East National Park and Mwea National Park. A visit to the orphanage does not appeal to your eyes only. It appeals to your heart too.

The orphanage is a focal point for Elephant Conservation. At the orphanage, you can watch the calves being exercised, bathed, and fed by the highly dedicated staff. What’s more, for USD 50 only, you will get a chance to foster one of these cute baby elephants. In return, the orphanage will send you regular updates and photos of how your chubby baby is doing.

Lunch at Carnivore Restaurant

The elephant orphanage is open from 11 am to noon, meaning you will head for lunch. Today we recommend trying some tasty dishes at Tamarind Hotel . You can choose from several types of meat, including crocodiles and ostrich. There is also a vegetarian diet. Finally, surrender by raising the white flag, and get a cocktail of traditional medicine (Dawa).

Visit Nairobi National Museum and Snake Park

The afternoon will see you head to Nairobi National Museum and Snake Park . The Kenya Safari itinerary wouldn’t be complete without this adventure. The Museum is a preserve of all things Kenyan.

The Nairobi National Museum is a museum in Nairobi, Kenya. It is located west of the city center, on Langata Road. The museum was established in 1947 and is today the most famous museum in Kenya . It has a collection of over 120,000 items, including exhibits on Kenyan history, culture, nature, and wildlife.

The museum also operates a snake park, home to over 100 species of snakes.

Day 2: Transfer to Tsavo West National Park & Afternoon Game Drive

You will get picked up by our safari guide from your hotel at around 6 am for the journey to Tsavo West National Park . The trip will take about 5 hours, and you will arrive by noon, where you will check in to one of the hotels, grab lunch and rest a bit.

After a short rest, our tour guide will pick you up for an exciting afternoon game drive, where you will see different wildlife. Tsavo West covers an area of 9,065km square and is home to elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, hippos, leopards, lions, hartebeest, and other varied wildlife.

You will have an excellent opportunity to watch and take photographs of some of the cats in action as they go for a kill. It will be a long day, and later in the evening, after the game drive, you will retire to your accommodation lodge for the night.

Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive at Tsavo West National Park with Packed Lunch

On day 3 of your Kenya itinerary 16 days, you will enjoy a full-day adventure in Tsavo West National Park, an enormous park requiring more time to cover the main areas. Our professional safari guide will pick you up immediately after breakfast, ready to take you for a game drive around this magnificent animal and plant haven.

During the morning hours, many animals are usually busy feeding, which is a perfect opportunity to capture them with your camera. Animals you will encounter include herds of elephants, gazelles, buffaloes, impalas, lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Many bird species are also found here.

Our tour guide will take you to most of the places you did not make to visit during the previous day’s game drive to experience new adventures. As the heat rises and many animals disappear from the vicinity, it will be the best time to have lunch in the bush and get some deserved rest and fresh air.

After lunch, you will have yet another tour of the park, especially a visit to the magnificent Mzima Springs and the Shetani lava flows. Mzima is a series of lava-filtered clear water that also hosts some aquatic animals, such as hippos and crocodiles, and birds.

In the late evening, you will head back to the camp, where you will enjoy watching the sun’s golden rays as it sets in the west and enjoy the sounds of nocturnal animals.

Day 4: Transfer to Amboseli & Afternoon Game Drive at Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, you will get a transfer to another of Kenya’s famous parks, Amboseli National Park . The journey will begin at around 7 am. Amboseli National Park is one of the places in Africa where you will see large herds of Elephants at close range, having over 1600 of them roaming freely in the park.

You will make a stop-over at Lake Chala before continuing with the rest of the journey to Amboseli National Park . Lake Chala is a crater lake that came into existence after volcanic activity on Mount Kilimanjaro about 250,000 years ago.

The lake is mainly fed by underground water from the montane forest part of Mt Kilimanjaro, where it travels through rocks, making it crystal clear. After visiting Lake Chala, the journey to the park will continue, where you will arrive by lunchtime, take a sumptuous lunch, and rest.

Amboseli National Park - Elephants - Kenya Safari and Beach

Day 5: Full-Day Game Drive at Amboseli National Park with Packed Lunch

You will have a full-day game drive at Amboseli National Park , which will accompany a delicious meal in the bush. You should be ready to head out after breakfast when our tour guide picks you up for a day full of adventure in one of the finest parks in Kenya.

Before you even start to spot animals, you will be treated to the exhaling sight of the golden rays of the morning sun across the Amboseli. An experience you cannot miss. The mornings at Amboseli are calmer and more relaxed, and it is the best time to come across many of the animals that reside here heading to grazing fields.

You may also see the hard-to-spot leopards in action at this time of the day, as many predators come to life during the early hours and late evenings. Our guide will drive you to the five different habitats in Amboseli to unearth and experience other types of wildlife found in each of them.

At around noon, it will be time to unpack the lunch. You will enjoy it at one of the designated safe points in the park. After the delicious meal, you will head to the observation hill, where you will have a phenomenal view of the park.

Here you will see vegetation, herds of elephants, Amboseli swamps, landscape, and vegetation. It is also an excellent point to take photographs. Down the hill is where the famous Lake Amboseli is located, and with it comes a variety of birds, including pelicans, flamingoes, Egyptian geese, and others.

It is still on the observation hill where you can capture the beautiful scenes of the world’s highest free-standing mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro. By the time you are done with all this, it will be in the evening, and you will drive back to your hotel for the night; however, you will see more animals on the way.

Day 6: Transfer to Naivasha & Boat Ride at Lake Naivasha (Walking Safari at Crescent Island)

Your Kenya holidays beach and safari will take you to Lake Naivasha . You will start this road trip in the morning, and it takes about 5-hours. The journey will see you make a stopover at the Great Rift Valley.

The Great Rift Valley Viewpoint

The Great Rift Valley is one of the most remarkable geological features on the planet. Stretching over 6,000 kilometers from Lebanon in the north to Mozambique in the south, the valley is home to some of Africa’s most iconic landscapes.

The view from the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint is genuinely breathtaking. To the east, the valley plunges into a vast landscape of plains and lakes, while to the west, the jagged peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains loom large. In between, herds of gazelle and zebra roam freely across the grasslands. It is an unforgettable experience to witness such natural beauty firsthand.

From here, the safari guide will take you to the hotel for check-in, take lunch, and then head out to Lake Naivasha in the afternoon. You will find plenty to see and do at Lake Naivasha, one of Kenya’s most popular tourist destinations .

Boat Ride at Lake Naivasha

You can take a boat ride out onto the lake to get a closer look at the wildlife. In the lake, expect to see some hippos and other aquatic animals. There are also dozens of birds to keep your eyes entertained.

Walking Safari at Crescent Island

A visit to Crescent Island usually accompanies the boat ride. Crescent Island is one of the few places where you can walk amongst free-roaming animals without needing a vehicle or guide.  The island is located in Lake Naivasha , Kenya, and is home to various animals, including zebra, impala, giraffe, and wildebeest.

These animals are used to the presence of humans and will often allow you to get close for a better view or photograph. In addition to the abundant wildlife, Crescent Island is also beautiful, with its lush vegetation and stunning views of the lake. Whether you’re an experienced safari-goer or a first-time traveler, Crescent Island is worth a visit.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Nakuru & Game Drives at Lake Nakuru National Park

The sun kisses the earth’s core, and it’s morning; time for a new adventure in Lake Nakuru National Park ! Located on the Great Rift Valley floor, Lake Nakuru is best known for its thousands, sometimes millions of flamingos.

The birds move back and forth, filling the sky and blanketing the water below with stunning pink and red colors. The lake is at an elevation of 1,754 m (5,755 ft) and is housed within the Lake Nakuru National Park. Here, you can enjoy a wide ecological diversity from pockets of acacia forests, waterfalls, and rocky terrains.

Aside from flamingos, the park is home to lions, leopards, hippos, endangered Rothschild’s giraffes, and white and black rhinos. We shall ride to Flamingo Hill, a favorite lion spot, and watch lionesses lazing on tree branches.

Later, we will tour Makalia camp, a leopard’s chilling den. Afterward, we shall grab a quick drink and experience Nakuru’s nightlife before heading back to the hotel for some shut-eye. Lake Nakuru has been identified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (2011), International Birding Area (2009), and a RAMSAR Site (1990).

Day 8: Transfer to Masai Mara & Afternoon Game Drive at the Reserve

On day 8, you will get a transfer to the world’s famous game reserve . It is a long way, and the journey will start early in the morning. You will make a stopover at Narok Town. The stopover will give you time to stretch and get what you might require for the remaining safari.

Narok town is about 3 hours drive from Nairobi and just about 2 hours drive to Masai Mara , mainly on a rough road. After the short break, you will embark on the rest of the journey to the reserve, and you will arrive at around noon, where you will check into a hotel and have lunch.

Afterward, our experienced tour guide will pick you up for an afternoon game drive that will give you a different experience from the one you had in Amboseli. Masai Mara National Reserve is found in the southwestern part of Kenya along the border of Tanzania. The Reserve is famous for wildebeest migration that can make your holiday to Kenya safari and beach more exciting.

However, the migration occurs from July to October, though you will likely encounter some wildebeests that reside permanently at the reserve. Mara is also known for its diverse flora and fauna that spread through the reserve’s 1510 square kilometers.

During the game drive, you will see the big five: elephants, lions, rhinos, buffaloes, and leopards-though they are hard to see sometimes. Other animals that are easy to see at the park include cheetahs, waterbucks, gazelles, giraffes, and warthogs.

There are also over 500 bird species that call Masai Mara home. The birds include hornbills, crowned cranes, sacred ibis, and egrets.

Day 9: Full-Day Game Drive at Masai Mara with Packed Lunch

One of the best ways to experience the Mara is on a full-day game drive. Led by our experienced guides, game drives allow you to explore the reserve in an open-sided vehicle, getting up close to the animals as they go about their daily lives.

You’ll also have the chance to learn about Mara’s unique ecosystem and the efforts being made to protect it. A full-day game drive is an unforgettable experience that should not be missed on any trip to the Masai Mara .

The Masai Mara National Reserve is home to a wide variety of animals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, and zebras. If you want to see some of these animals in their natural habitat, go on a game drive while in reserve. You’ll have a chance to get close to them and learn more about their lives and their environment.

Hot Air Balloon - Safari and Beach vacation

Day 10: Optional Hot Air Balloon Ride/Morning Game Drive, Visit a Maasai Village, & Afternoon Game Drive

On this day, our charming guide shall pick you from your hotel at dawn and drive you to the hot air balloon launch site. The launch site is more like an airport, lacking expensive gadgets and runways.

The hot air balloon shall rise to the sky immediately after the sun rises and stay in the sky for about 1-2 hours. Depending on the wind conditions, you will cover approximately 15-25 km. The pilot can control the balloon such that it flies close enough to the ground for you to view the wildlife below.

The view from the air balloon ride is spectacular and memorable; the true “Out of Africa safari experience. The balloon shall take you over the diverse habitats of the Masai Mara National Reserve; The Savannah grasslands, the Mara River, Swamps, and forests.

All members of the big 5; leopard, rhino, buffalo, lion, and the elephant are some of the usual suspects you will catch during the ride. This is also your chance to film awesome videos and photos of antelopes, birds, giraffes, crocodiles, hippos, and more.

Upon landing, you will be served a champagne breakfast in the open savannahs of the Masai Mara . After, you enjoy a morning game drive as you head to the Maasai village.  A country as vast as Kenya is bound to offer diversity. Day 10 of your Kenya safari and beach packages is about exploring the rich culture of the world’s most famous tribe, the Maasais.

I am pretty sure you must have seen those beautiful photos of Maasai warriors jumping high with the savannahs, dotted with wildlife, as their background. The Maasai is the tribe on every safari brochure or magazine.

A Maasai village that consists of small cow-dung plastered huts with thatched roofs. A thorny fence surrounds each hut to protect the livestock from predators. Typically, the animals are housed within the fenced compound. But by the time we arrive, they will be out grazing.

You will be welcomed with smiley faces and relaxing traditional songs. Maasai women will put necklaces and wraps around the ladies, and Maasai men will dress the men in the traditional Maasai sarongs. Have your camera ready. This is the perfect photo moment. You will then follow the Maasais into the Manyattas as they chant and sing.

What’s the importance of the Maasai Jump? What’s a Maasai house like? How do Maasais learn to make fire using only dried leaves and sticks? Day 10 of your safari holiday is your moment to interact with the Maasais and discover how the Maasais survive with the wild animals.

You will head back to the camp for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Day 11: Morning Game Drive at Masai Mara & Flight to Diani

Today, you will wake up to yet another exciting game drive, to sum up, a successful wild tour of Masai Mara National Reserve. There are many other animals and places you might not have seen since the park is relatively large and diverse.

Morning hours are the ideal time for getting a glimpse of cats in action, especially cheetahs and lions, but depending on your luck, you may also spot the leopards. Masai Mara is also known for eye-catching sights apart from the typical wildlife you will find easily here.

These unique places include the Sand River, where you experience a picturesque combination of dramatic rocks, riverine forests, and sandbanks. Another place is the Mara River, where you will come into close contact with hippos and Nile crocodiles enjoying the river’s cold water.

The two rivers are on the migration route, where nearly 2 million wildebeest and other grazers cross from Serengeti to Masai Mara yearly .  Sand River and Mara River are also perfect places to watch other non-aquatic animals as they come to quench their thirst, especially when it becomes hot.

Animals that you are likely to see at this time include a group of waterbucks, gazelles, zebras, buffaloes, and some monkeys on the riverine vegetation.

However, it will be a long day, and the game tour will end in the afternoon. Soon after the game drive, you will catch a direct flight from Masai Mara to Ukunda, which will take about 2.5 hours; then, get a transfer to the hotel in Diani Beach.

Day 12: Full-Day Trip to Wasini Island with Lunch

Join us for a day trip to the beautiful island of Wasini! This small island off the coast of Kenya is a paradise for snorkelers and scuba divers, with its clear turquoise waters and rich coral reefs. But Wasini is also a great place to relax on the beach, swim, or explore the village.

Celebrating the icons of East African travel, this luxurious, 16-day tour explores untouched nature and magnificent safari destinations. In Kenya, you will immerse yourself in the Masai Mara grasslands and safari with elephants beneath Mount Kilimanjaro. Tanzania will provide intimate wildlife encounters in Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro before three days of magnificent, mobile camping in the Serengeti. Finally, Zanzibar will lead you to white Indian Ocean beaches and the tranquility of island life.

Customizable Itinerary

Nairobi – arrival and a view over safari plains.

When you touch down in Kenya, the wilderness will soon take over even though you will land in East Africa’s largest city. While Nairobi skyscrapers paint the horizon, your hotel will be perched above Nairobi National Park, which is a carefully preserved savanna that is home to the Big Five. From your hotel, you can gaze across these plains and watch giraffes as they pass in addition to elephants as they eat dinner. Sometimes, you can hear the distant roar of a male lion. Flight times mean that you will need to make a Nairobi layover before beginning your safari. With such bucolic views, this will never be a hassle. After an airport transfer, you will begin to appreciate East Africa’s wildlife while resting and preparing for your safari to come.

What's Included:

Mara North Conservancy – The Heart of the Kenyan Grasslands

Nairobi Wilson Airport is just a ten minute transfer from your overnight accommodation. A few small aircrafts wait on the runway, and one of these will be taking you directly to Mara North, which is a private safari conservancy that shares a long and unfenced border with the Masai Mara National Reserve. You will touch down to your private safari. You will be bumping off the main trails to get closer to a leopard and other predators. Buffalos will wander past in large herds, while wildebeest and zebra will dot the plains, sometimes in the thousands. These Kenyan grasslands will bring intimacy with a wild animal cast, including most of those on your checklist. From hippos to elephants to lions, this conservancy has just about everything. With private game drives, you can tailor your experience around the animals that you want to see.

Mara North Conservancy – Thrilling Big Game Encounters

Spots may move through the grass at dawn, and you may follow this predator in stealth mode, inching forward without interrupting the hunt. Safari vehicles give you an elevated view over the landscape, so you can see both the leopard and the Thomson’s gazelle that it is hunting. This prowl could result in a chase, and you may very well witness a leopard with a carcass in a tree. A sentinel may raise the alarm, so the gazelle gallops off to safety. Most people arrive in the Masai Mara with the knowledge that this landscape is home to more wild mammals than almost anywhere else in the world.

Once you are in the Masai Mara, you will discover that an African safari is not necessarily about how many animals you see but the interactions that take place between all the different species. You can admire lions as they laze on sun-scorched rocks and zebras as they gallop past you fearfully. There can be moments of complete silence as you watch a cheetah feed her cubs, or a dik-dik couple peek out from the grass. The Mara is a land of big and small, and over these two days, you will experience how wildlife can really flourish on grasslands, including the large wildebeest herds for which this destination is known.

Amboseli National Park – From Grasslands to Mount Kilimanjaro

Today, you will fly from Mara North to Amboseli, and the colors will change. Arid plains will stretch beneath Mount Kilimanjaro’s shadow. There is little for animals to eat here, so each animal must adapt their habits to the scenery. Gerenuk have giraffe-like necks for feeding from branches that other antelope cannot reach, and they absorb all the water they need from their food. Elephants use their trunks to dig beneath dried-up riverbeds, and other animals stay within easy reach of the Amboseli swamps, where there is water but also danger. Amboseli is famous for an image of elephants that roam beneath Kilimanjaro. You will soon discover that the safari experience concerns the battle for survival in a harsh and arid environment that extends beneath the mountain’s shadow.

Amboseli National Park – Elephant Conservation and Wildlife

While much of Amboseli can seem devoid of life, this is simply because most animals must stay near to water. The best Amboseli game drives explore these watering holes. You will encounter dramatic scenes when hyenas arrive, especially if the buffalo are drinking with their calves. You can also witness scenes of pure joy with tropical birds and various ungulates that drink happily beside a pod of hippos. Amboseli is home to one of Africa’s most successful conservation programs, and this helped maintain elephant numbers through a poaching epidemic in the 70s and 80s. This afternoon, you will join conservationists on their day to day activities in the park, learning about what they do to keep the pachyderm population strong.

Arusha – Cultural Experiences on Route to Tanzania

From Amboseli, it will be around four hours by road to Arusha in Tanzania. This is a lovely journey with volcanoes that line the distance, in addition to the small villages that you can stop at along the route. If you stop, you will experience a culture that is mostly unchanged by modernity. While these villages may appear to be impoverished, there is a cultural and traditional wealth that you can take away with you. There will be no need to rush as nothing is planned in Arusha for today. You will be staying at a lodge outside the town that is set in a coffee plantation and dominated by the telltale call of bush babies.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area – East Africa’s Most Beautiful Destinations

Marabou storks will welcome you to Lake Manyara. They guard the treetops above the entrance gate and squawk loudly to all new arrivals. Following the gate, the trail is narrow, and the forest is dense. Baboons move in huge troops, and you can hear them long before you see them. In some areas, the trees may be bent over so you can see the culprits, which will be an elephant herd as they bash down trees in displays of joy and belligerence.

You can spend hours in these trees and realize that the safari experience is much different to Kenya’s more open landscapes. You can even turn a corner to be a few meters from a giraffe or elephant. You can turn another corner, and huge baboon troops may be fighting with each other. The forest will finally give way to an open clearing, and this is where up to a dozen ungulate species graze together. Stunning cliffs overlook this scene, and a hippo-filled lake completes it, but you will experience all of this from a safe distance. From this bucolic safari destination, you will travel uphill into Ngorongoro Conservation Area to a lodge that sits on the crater rim.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Wildlife Utopia

Early morning is always the best time for a safari, and this is especially true in Ngorongoro Crater. Not only is wildlife more active, but the crater is quieter as you will avoid the midday rush of day-tripping safari vehicles. You will descend into the crater at dawn to find lions as they use the mist for cover. The first hour of daylight is when they like to hunt, and you can often spot a pride on the move. You can even be lucky enough to come across a pride as they devour a carcass with jackals and hyenas already seeking the scraps.

The crater’s black rhinos will be out strolling at dawn but will retreat to the bushes by mid-morning. Elephants also wander the crater floor early in the morning, but it is mostly the bulls with enormous tusks. Many other species live here, and in a single glance, you can witness more than 10,000 wild mammals. Ngorongoro feels like a wildlife Eden with so many animals that find refuge in an extinct volcanic caldera. Of all Africa’s safari destinations, this is the one that people find the most spectacular. You can drive around it all in just four hours, which will leave a free afternoon to recollect what you have just experienced.

Day  9 - 11

Serengeti National Park – An Intimate Safari and Mobile Camp

When the Ngorongoro volcano erupted, it spread nutrient-rich ash westward and flattened a forest with lava. Millions of years later, the grass began to grow, and the Serengeti was born. These Serengeti grasslands are so nutritious that wildebeest calves grow at twice the speed as anywhere else in Africa. There is such rich bounty that over 2 million wild mammals can be supported, many of which form the great wildebeest migration. The most important thing to remember about this migration is that the wildebeest are on the move. They follow the rains and move to fresh grazing pastures, so there is not one single place to go to see the migration. Every year, the route is a little different, especially given the recent unpredictability of Tanzania’s rains.

Most safaris need a bit of luck to see the migration, and a mobile camp removes much of the guesswork. The camp is packed up every couple of weeks and will move with the herds, so it is always in an ideal location, regardless of the month of the year. You can hear the rumble of hooves from the camp, and sometimes you can gaze out and see thousands of animals as they fill the panorama. Through the night, you will hear hyenas and lions. These camps utilize very traditional methods of keeping you safe from predators, and they are the same methods that are used by Masai people to keep themselves and their livestock safe from the Serengeti’s cats.

On day nine, you will drive onto the grasslands and cross a large section of the Serengeti. Then, you will settle into a safari that is dictated by the herds. Wildebeest scatter across huge areas, and they rut each morning, which is a form of battle that impresses the females. With ebullient faces, they can provide delightful moments of joy, but during your afternoons, you will witness how the long journey is tiresome to many. Hyenas will follow the herds to identify the weak and sick for a nighttime hunt. Resident lions and leopards also watch the herds. They too prefer to hunt after dark, so you can often come across carcasses during your early morning game drives.

Zebras follow the wildebeest but are usually a few days behind. You can drive among the herds, and the abundance will be truly remarkable. You can maybe picture 100 zebra, possibly even 1,000, but to safari with tens of thousands will prove to be an ineffable experience even when you are there. Three days is recommended for a mobile Serengeti camp safari because it will give you time to really tune into the wilderness, including all its smells and sounds. You will also discover moments of drama and charm, in addition to developing an appreciation of the tranquility of a Serengeti safari.

Kendwa – Stop, Breathe, and Relax

From the Serengeti, you will fly directly to Zanzibar before transferring to Kendwa. Located on Zanzibar’s iconic, Northern tip, Kendwa is separated from the more popular resort destination of Nungwe, but it enjoys the same beach. Jagged cliffs stand over the white sand, and at high tide, the beach is divided into small bays, while at low tide, you can walk barefoot to Nungwe. Arriving on the island of Zanzibar is all about slowing down. You will be in Indian Ocean paradise at a boutique resort that lies just off the sand.

Day  13 - 14

Kendwa – White-Sand Tranquility on Zanzibar’s Northern Tip

These two days will be at your leisure. The premier Zanzibar highlight is to do nothing, and it is easy to abide given the spacious beach and laid-back, island atmosphere. The snorkeling is superb, especially around Kendwa and Nungwe. Scuba diving is another activity option along with visiting the monkeys of Jozani Forest. You can also go sailing in a traditional dhow or venture out to explore the local Swahili culture. Mostly, these days will about island tranquility, so do not plan anything just yet. You may want to wait until you arrive.

Stone Town – Rich Cultural Experiences

Evocative sounds will echo through the narrow alleys of Stone Town, and coral houses and coral mosques cluster together here. The architecture has remained mostly unchanged for over 500 years. While a couple of streets now cater to tourists, most of Stone Town offers an intimate insight into old Swahili culture. With a local guide, you will stroll through the town, stopping at many iconic sites, including the old slave market and a market of dazzling colors and spices. In Stone Town, the cultural experiences will find you, and they will provide a lively, final act to your 16 days in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar.

Stone Town – Departure

After breakfast, you will depart from Zanzibar’s airport, which is a mere 15-minute transfer from your hotel. Your outbound flight will connect via Nairobi.

This Kenya wildlife tour will let you step into the heart of Kenya and let its wild wonders leave an indelible mark on your soul.

16-Day Kenya Nature Wildlife Tour Highlights

For more than a hundred years, Kenya has epitomized the archetypal image of the African safari. Think of Africa, and one immediately imagines infinite savannah plains teeming with wildlife such as those found in the Maasai Mara, or the beauty of the Rift Valley and its magnificent lakes framed by mountains. Kenya is in Africa, and the country offers some truly life-changing experiences. This is a country of great diversity and beauty with some of the most welcoming people but above all, Kenya offers some of the finest wildlife in Africa, perfect for a wildlife safari . Think of the wildebeest migration in July and August, one of Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacles documented in films by people like David Attenborough, Simon King and Jonathan Scott. Then combine that with some of our world’s most fascinating culture and you have the perfect Kenya adventure safari. This tour is designed around all of this, but without the crowds of “high season” in the Mara. And while it gives us the opportunity for Africa’s “Big Five” (Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Rhino) it offers all the other African wildlife one can imagine be it mammals, birds, reptiles, and more!

Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to embark on an incredible Kenya nature wildlife tour like no other! Book today and get ready to discover the magic of Kenya’s jungle paradise.

Here, you can witness herds of elephants, buffalos, and other large mammals, as well as the “red elephants” unique to the area. You can also spot lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and more. Additionally, the park offers a chance to visit the Lugard Falls and the Aruba Dam, which provide a beautiful backdrop for game viewing.

Explore Tsavo West National Park

Another excellent park to consider is the Tsavo West National Park, which offers a unique landscape featuring volcanic hills, savannah, and diverse wildlife. Here, you can spot a wide range of animals, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, and more. One of the highlights of this park is Mzima Springs, where you can witness underwater hippos and crocodiles, as well as other wildlife that come to drink from the crystal-clear pools.

Discover the Masai Mara

If you’re interested in seeing the Big Five animals, the Maasai Mara National Reserve is a must-visit park. This is Kenya’s most popular wildlife reserve and home to an abundance of wildlife. Here, you can spot lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and rhinos, as well as other large mammals and over 500 species of birds. You can also witness the great wildebeest migration, which is one of the most spectacular wildlife events on the planet.

Amboseli  – Gateway to Kilimanjaro

For a more off-the-beaten-path experience, consider visiting the Amboseli National Park. This park is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro and offers stunning views of the mountain, as well as diverse wildlife. Here, you can spot elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, and more. Additionally, the park is home to a large number of bird species, making it a great destination for birdwatchers.

The Magic of Shimba Hills

Finally, the Shimba Hills National Reserve is another option to consider. This reserve is located just a short drive from Diani beach and offers a chance to see several species of primates, including the rare and endangered Colobus monkeys. You can also spot elephants, buffalos, giraffes, and other large mammals, as well as a wide range of bird species. The reserve also features the stunning Sheldrick Falls, which provide a beautiful backdrop for game viewing.

What types of animals can I expect to see on a safari from Diani beach?

Embarking on a safari from Diani beach offers a unique opportunity to witness an array of African wildlife species. From the Big Five to various bird species, you can expect to see an abundance of wildlife in their natural habitats.

Animals of the Masai Mara

The Masai Mara National Reserve is home to the Big Five – elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalos. You can witness them roaming around the vast plains of Masai Mara. Other animals you can see at Masai Mara include zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas, wildebeest, and hippos. With over 95 species of mammals, Masai Mara is a must-visit destination for safari enthusiasts.

The Elephants of Amboseli

Another national park to visit on a safari from Diani beach is the Amboseli National Park. Known for its large herds of elephants, Amboseli National Park also offers sightings of other animals such as lions, cheetahs, buffalos, and giraffes. You can also catch a glimpse of the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day, adding to the beauty of the park.

Tsavo Wildlife Highlights

Tsavo East and West National Parks are also worth visiting on a safari from Diani beach. Tsavo East is the largest national park in Kenya, and home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and many more. Tsavo West, on the other hand, is known for its diverse landscape, including volcanic hills, swamps, and natural springs. Here, you can see elephants, leopards, hyenas, buffalos, and various bird species.

See Stunning African Wildlife from Diani Beach

In conclusion, a safari from Diani beach is a great way to experience the rich wildlife of Kenya. You can witness the Big Five at Masai Mara, large herds of elephants at Amboseli National Park, and diverse wildlife at Tsavo East and West National Parks. There’s no doubt that you will create unforgettable memories of your wildlife encounters in Kenya.

What is the best time of year to go on a safari from Diani beach?

The best time of year to go on a safari from Diani Beach is during the dry season which runs from July to October, and January to March. During this time, the weather is dry and the vegetation is less dense, making it easier to spot wildlife in the national parks. The dry season is also the best time for game drives in Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks, which are located closer to Diani Beach.

Shoulder Season Safaris

However, it’s worth noting that the months of July and August can be quite busy in some national parks such as Masai Mara, due to the annual wildebeest migration. If you’re looking for a quieter safari experience, then visiting during the shoulder seasons (April to June, and November to December) may be a better option. The weather during these times can be slightly wetter, but the crowds are thinner, and the prices for safari tours and accommodation are usually lower.

When does Diani beach have the best weather?

For those interested in enjoying the beautiful beaches of Diani, the best time to visit is during the dry season which coincides with the best time to go on a safari. From July to October and January to March, the weather is generally sunny and warm, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. The shoulder seasons also offer pleasant beach weather, with slightly cooler temperatures and occasional rain showers.

6 Questions About 2-Day Kenya Safaris

Ariadne van Zandbergen

Answered by

Ariadne van zandbergen.

16 daagse safari best of kenya

Is a 2-day Kenya tour too short?

“A 2-day/1-night safari in Kenya is short, but if that’s all the time you have, it is definitely worthwhile. If at all possible, I would recommend adding a few extra days though. You need at least a couple of nights to settle in and get into the rhythm of the bush. However, if time or budget constraints push towards a short trip, you should go and make the most of it. You’ll be surprised at how much you can see on a 2-day safari in Kenya, and you’ll get a taste of what it is all about. Who knows, you might be able to return one day for a longer safari. You should never try to cram too much into your itinerary. With only 2 days available, settle on one park you would like to visit and spend some quality time there. So long as you are realistic about what you can achieve on a 2-day safari, it is surely worth going.”

What are the options for a 2-day safari in Kenya?

“There are multiple options for a 2-day safari in Kenya. Many 2-day packages include an overnight stay in the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Timed right, you might see one of Africa’s most exciting wildlife spectacles here, the wildebeest migration. The bumpy drive takes about five hours, so the return trip takes up a lot of valuable time. A return flight may be a better option. Amboseli National Park offers a different kind of experience. While the Mara is famous for its big cats, you can count on excellent elephant sightings here. Views of Mt Kilimanjaro are a bonus on a clear day. Lake Nakuru National Park is very suitable for a 2-day road safari from Nairobi. The drive only takes about three hours on an easy tar road. This scenic national park is centered around a shallow lake supporting flocks of pelican, flamingo and other birdlife. You should see several rhino here and, if you’re lucky, a pride of tree-climbing lion. If you’re based in Mombasa or any of the beach resorts south of the city, your best bet is an overnight visit to Tsavo East National Park. This extensive wilderness area is home to all the Big Five. Large herds of elephant covered in red dust and graceful giraffe are especially noticeable. For a low-key bush experience, you could leave the beach to stay a night in the nearby coastal forest of Shimba Hills National Reserve. Forest elephant are regular visitors to the waterhole, and you’ll be charmed by the red squirrel and bush baby that visit the lodge. ”

What accommodation can I expect?

“There are lots of different accommodation options in most parks and reserves in Kenya for a 2-day safari. Camping is always a good budget option. It adds a sense of adventure to your trip, and the campsites are often in prime locations. Note though, that for 1 night only, a lodge safari might be more practical. Other budget options are mostly guesthouses and basic tented camps just outside the parks. No-frills mid-range hotels or lodges offer more comfort and are usually in better locations inside the parks or reserves. If you decide to splurge, you can choose a luxury lodge or tented camp. These can be conventionally luxurious, offering all mod cons, or they can be stylish rustic establishments focusing on exclusivity, excellent service and food. Lodgings on the luxury end of the scale are usually fully inclusive fly-in destinations that take care of your activities as well. ”

Which animals am I likely to see?

“The animals you’re likely to see on a 2-day Kenyan safari depend on where you choose to go. To see the wildebeest migration, you should aim to be in the Masai Mara any time from late September to late October. There is lots of wildlife to be seen in the Mara at any time though. Big cats are particularly prolific. Amboseli NP is a more scenic destination. Early morning is often the best time to see Mt Kilimanjaro. With or without views of the mountain, you’ll have some incredible elephant sightings here. Some of the old bulls carry impressive tusks. Rhino is difficult to spot in the Mara and absent in Amboseli NP, but Lake Nakuru NP and many of the Laikipia Plateau reserves offer great opportunities to see both white and black rhino. When visiting Tsavo East NP on a 2-day safari, you may not be able to tick off the Big Five. Wildlife is a bit more spread out here, but you might well see some very rare antelope, such as the fringe-eared oryx and gerenuk, in an incredibly wild setting. ”

How much will this safari cost?

“The price of a 2-day safari in Kenya varies. Expect a starting price of US$220 per person for a 2-day budget camping tour, going up to US$350 per person for a mid-range lodge tour. Luxury tours start at around US$450 per person. The level of accommodation influences the overall cost. Most budget-friendly is a camping safari. Lodges range from budget to mid-range to high-end luxury. A road safari is usually cheaper than a fly-in safari. And you can save some money by joining a group safari as opposed to booking your own private safari. If your timing is flexible, you can economize on good safari deals in the low season. It’s always a good idea to get a few quotations before making a final decision on your safari operator. ”

What activities are available on a 2-day safari in Kenya?

“While game drives are usually included in your safari package, some extra activities can add variety and interest to your 2-day Kenyan trip. A balloon safari is a once-in-a-lifetime experience offered in many popular parks and reserves. Floating above the bush at sunrise offers an amazing bird’s eye perspective. The champagne breakfast after landing completes a memorable morning out. The Masai Mara and Amboseli areas are the homeland of the proud Maasai people. A visit to a traditional manyatta (group of huts) is both educational and a lot of fun. Lastly, a guided nature walk offers a chance to slow down and marvel at the small wonders of the bush. The aim is not to get close to potentially dangerous animals, but to learn about tracks, insects and plants.”

Young Asian man studying online with laptop

Graduation is coming up, and there's no better way to celebrate the grads in your life than with gifts they'll love. That includes tech they can actually use, like top-rated headphones and earbuds they can wind down with after their major accomplishment. There's a great pair of headphones for every grad, no matter if they're completing middle school, high school or college.

They'll need headphones to listen to their favorite music, make phone calls, watch movies and TV shows, or catch up on their favorite TikTok creators. And they'll think of you each time they use their new cans.

But which headphones should you choose? We've done the hard part for you. Our picks for the best headphones and earbuds for graduates come from top brands like Apple , Beats  and Samsung . There's a choice for each price point and use case, so if you're not sure, just keep reading. You'll find options for the best headphone gifts for grads below.

Best headphones for grads in 2024

Best overall headphones for grads: apple airpods pro (2nd generation), best premium headphones for grads: apple airpods max, best budget headphones for grads: apple airpods (2nd generation), best gym headphones for grads: bose quietcomfort earbuds ii.

  • Best noise-canceling headphones for grads: Bose QuietComfort 45

Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Gen)

Apple's slick, wireless earbuds are a great choice for any grad, thanks to their lengthy battery life, versatility and portability. With up to 30 hours of total battery life from the charging case, they last long enough for grads on the go and then some through calls, music, and more.

These earbuds outshine the original AirPods Pro in every way. An improved wireless chip and enhanced noise cancellation offer rich, immersive sound. They fit snugly in the ear thanks to their solid build, and it doesn't hurt that they're attractive, too.

This version also comes with a USB-C fast-charging case with wireless charging support. And we love the touch controls built right into the stems for an easy way to pause or restart a playlist.

With all the upgrades over the previous model, these AirPods represent Apple's most advanced wireless listening experience yet. For extended playtime and top-notch audio quality, these earbuds are a stellar pick for any grad.

apple-airpods-max.jpg

Treat your favorite grad to a luxurious audio experience with the AirPods Max. With premium features and sleek aesthetics, they're built for audiophiles looking for more out of their headphones. They're considerably more expensive than other Apple models, but they deliver on comfort, style, and functionality.

The AirPods Max deliver booming, immersive audio. Spatial audio with dynamic head tracking serves up a theater-like surround sound effect. And the great active noise cancellation blocks out external distractions to keep the focus on the music. Plus, the plush cushioned ear cups are comfortable to wear for long listening sessions.

They're also useful for either tuning out the world or keeping the environment in mind. Transparency mode lets ambient noise in when active noise cancellation isn't needed. And with a 15 hour battery life, the music doesn't have to stop for quite some time.

Everyone around your grad will notice these bold headphones for both their crisp, pumped up sound and fashionable design. They also come in several different colors.

Apple AirPods (2nd Generation)

Don't have a lot of money to spend for a premium grad gift? You can still give great sound on a budget. The second-generation Apple AirPods remain a top choice for wireless earbuds, despite not being the newest model, though keep in mind these are a different version than the AirPods Pro.

For Apple users, these are the most seamless earbuds around. They connect instantly whenever needed, with special effortless pairing to Apple devices like iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and MacBooks.

The wireless charging case provides more than 24 hours of battery life. And the low-latency wireless connection enables immersive entertainment. It's easy to see why these continue to be a hit, often selling out, despite newer versions on the market.

While they work with any Bluetooth audio device, Apple gadgets get the best experience. If you want an affordable option to gift your favorite student, these older AirPods make an excellent everyday wireless earbud for grads on the move.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II

With excellent sound and top-tier noise cancellation, the new Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II are a grad's perfect gym companion.

Bose products are renowned for quality audio, and these earbuds deliver. Their innovative CustomTune technology auto-adjusts music to match the listener's liking. An "aware mode" lets in outside sounds when needed as well.

These earbuds provide 6 hours of playtime per charge, with the included charging case adding 3 more full charges for 24 hours of battery life. Control music, calls, and volume right from the earbuds, so there's no need to mess with any phones or devices.

With Bluetooth 5.3 compatibility and a sweat-resistant design available in black or soapstone colors, the QuietComfort Earbuds II allow grads to focus on their workout, not distractions. Noise-cancelling microphones are also a helpful addition for good call quality at the gym or on the go. There's always something to think about for new grads, after all.

If you know you're buying for someone who's going to be working out a lot, these headphones really can't be beat.
