Asian Tour breaks new ground with International Series event on Scottish soil

asia tour fairmont

The Asian Tour is set to make history by staging an event for the first time in Scotland at Fairmont St Andrews in August 2023.

The inaugural St Andrews Bay Championship — part of the Tour’s International Series — will take place at the venue’s Torrance Course, a 7,320-yard layout set among 520 acres of stunning Scottish coastline with views of St Andrews Bay, from August 24-27.

Designed by former Ryder Cup legend Sam Torrance, the course is marked by its deep bunkers, large greens and links design. St Andrews has long been regarded as the Home of Golf, where there is recorded evidence of the game being played as long ago as 1552, and Fairmont St Andrews has previously staged many notable international events including on the DP World Tour, the European Seniors Tour, on six occasions between 2009 and 2014, as well as Open Qualifying.

Fairmont St Andrews owners Caleb Chan and Dr Peter Lam both hail from Hong Kong and their decision to host the event comes on the back of the recent victory of Taichi Kho — who became the first Hong Kong player to win on the Asian Tour in just his third professional start on Tour. His victory in the World City Championship in Hong Kong also earned him a berth in this summer’s Open Championship.

Callum Nicoll, Head of Golf and Estates at Fairmont St Andrews, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be staging another world class event at Fairmont St Andrews, and to be making history as the first Scottish host for the distinguished Asian Tour. Contouring the hotel and set against the backdrop of the picturesque east coast of Fife, the Torrance will test the short and long game whilst the risk-reward design provides numerous options both off the tee and for approach shots to the green.

“The elevated nature of the International Series with generous purses, strong global fields and the reward of a place for the Series winner in next year’s LIV Golf League all makes for a very exciting tournament in the summer.”

Following immediately after the International Series England in an Asian Tour ‘UK summer swing’, the 156-strong field will compete for a minimum of $1.5 million prize purse on the modern links layout in the sixth installment of the International Series 2023 schedule.

Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner & CEO of the Asian Tour, said: “There are few greater experiences in golf than playing in Scotland. It is widely known that Scotland’s golf fans are among the most knowledgeable fans anywhere in the world and our players are really looking forward to teeing it up at a venue that is linked to the origins of the game as we know it. It is a true privilege.

“This is testament to the global vision of tThe International Series, and we are grateful to the dedicated team behind the scenes which has enabled the Asian Tour to grow from strength to strength over a short period of time.”

The Asian Tour will visit Scotland for the first time as part of its UK summer swing.

The Torrance Course at Fairmont St Andrews has been revealed as the second of this year’s UK-based International Series events, following last month’s announcement that Newcastle’s Close House would also host a tournament . The tournament will take place between 24 and 27 August with the St Andrews Bay Championship, the sixth International Series event of the Asian Tour season.

The Sam Torrance-designed course is a 7,320 yard affair set among 520 acres of coastline boasting stunning views of St Andrews Bay. It is known for its deep bunkers and large greens and is ranked one of the courses between 101 and 200 in the UK and Ireland in 2023/24 by Golf Monthly.

It has previously hosted high-profile events including on the European Seniors Tour, DP Tour and Open Qualifying. The most recent of those was last July’s Hero Open on the DP World Tour, which saw Sean Crocker claim a stunning win .

Head of Golf and Estates at Fairmont St Andrews, Callum Nicoll said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be staging another world class event at Fairmont St Andrews, and to be making history as the first Scottish host for the distinguished Asian Tour."

He also explained that the course will provide a suitable challenge for a field that will compete for a purse of at least $1.5m in a tournament that can help players secure entry to the 2024 LIV Golf League. He said: “The Torrance course offers a challenging test for the players this summer, blending the principles of links golf with a more modern style. The Torrance will test the short and long game whilst the risk-reward design provides numerous options both off the tee and for approach shots to the green.

“The elevated nature of The International Series with generous purses, strong international fields, and the reward of a place for the Series winner in next year’s LIV Golf League all makes for a very exciting tournament in the summer.”

It is a true privilege."

Meanwhile, Head of The International Series Rahul Singh said: “The St Andrews Bay Championship will provide The International Series with an incredible opportunity to visit the ultimate golfing destination, St Andrews, Scotland, and we thank Fairmont St Andrews for helping to make this possible.”

In a history-making first, the Asian Tour will play host to the inaugural St Andrews Bay Championship at the Fairmont Resort on the outskirts of the Home of Golf in St Andrews.

The event will be staged from 24 th  to 27 th August and a week following the International Series England event at Close House in England.

The Fairmont Resort has been the focus for international golf for the past two years thanks to the hosting of the DP World Tour’s Hero Open, with Scot Grant Forrest capturing the 2021 title on the Torrance Course.

News of the Asian Tour hosting a tournament, and so close to the famed Old Course, will come as a surprise to many but then we saw earlier this year the DP World Tour hosting back-to-back events in Singapore and Thailand, and right on the Asian Tour’s front doorstep.

The Asian Tour has recognised the history of golf at the Fairmont Resort in a press statement in saying notable international events including on the DP World Tour, the European Seniors Tour, on six occasions between 2009 and 2014, as well as Open Qualifying.

As well, it should be noted the Fairmont St Andrews owners are Dr. Caleb Chan and Dr Peter Lam who both hail from Hong Kong, and this news decision to host the event comes off the back of the inspired recent victory of Taichi Kho – who became the first Hong Kong player to win on the Asian Tour in just his third professional start on Tour. The Fairmont Resort has been the focus for international golf for the past two years thanks to the hosting of the DP World Tour’s Hero Open, and with Scot Grant Forrest capturing the 2021 title on the Torrance Course.

News of the Asian Tour hosting a tournament, and so close to the famed Old Course, will come as a surprise to many but then we saw earlier this year the DP World Tour hosting back-to-back events in Singapore and Thailand, and right on the Asian Tour’s front doorstep.

An historic first in August with the Asian Tour to host the St. Andrews Bay Championship at the Fairmont Resort

Caleb Chan and Dr Peter Lam who both hail from Hong, and this news decision to host the event comes off the back of the inspired recent victory of Taichi Kho – who became the first Hong Kong player to win on the Asian Tour in just his third professional start on Tour. His victory in the World City Championship also earned him a berth in his first Major championship, this summer’s Open.

Callum Nicoll, Head of Golf and Estates at Fairmont St Andrews, said:  “ We’re absolutely delighted to be staging another world class event at Fairmont St Andrews, and to be making history as the first Scottish host for the distinguished Asian Tour.

“The Torrance course offers a challenging test for the players this summer, blending the principles of links golf with a more modern style. Contouring the hotel and set against the backdrop of the picturesque east coast of Fife, the Torrance will test the short and long game whilst the risk-reward design provides numerous options both off the tee and for approach shots to the green.

“The elevated nature of The International Series with generous purses, strong international fields, and the reward of a place for the Series winner in next year’s LIV Golf League all makes for a very exciting tournament in the summer.”

Following immediately after the International Series England in an Asian Tour ‘UK summer swing’, the 156-strong field will compete for a minimum of US$1.5m prize purse on the modern links layout in the sixth instalment of The International Series 2023 schedule.

“This is testament to the global vision of The International Series, and we are grateful to the dedicated team behind the scenes which has enabled the Asian Tour to grow from strength to strength over a short period of time.”

The Asian Tour’s elite-level International Series comprises 10 events, featuring elevated prize funds, staged at iconic venues and welcoming top golfers from every continent and tour.

Rahul Singh, Head of The International Series, said: “The St Andrews Bay Championship will provide The International Series with an incredible opportunity to visit the ultimate golfing destination, St Andrews, Scotland, and we thank Fairmont St Andrews for helping to make this possible.

“The chance to stage an event at the Home of Golf so early on in our journey will be truly inspirational for our players and everyone involved in The International Series.

“We are an ambitious initiative that aims to travel and go beyond our traditional borders to help grow the game and there can be no better place to play one of our events than where the game originated.”

Torrance Golf Course

The Asian Tour is set to make history by staging an event for the first time in Scotland at the much-acclaimed Fairmont St Andrews on 24-27 August 2023.

The inaugural St Andrews Bay Championship will take place at the venue’s Torrance Course, a 7,320-yard layout set among 520 acres of stunning Scottish coastline with views of St Andrews Bay. Scotland set to host its first Asian Tour International Series event

A field of 156 golfers will line up at fairmont st andrews for the inaugural $1.5 million st andrews bat championship, the first asian tour event to be held on scottish soil that also has 15 indians in the fray..

  • Updated Aug 24, 2023, 12:13 PM IST

Cho Minn Thant, Asian Tour Commissioner and CEO, said: “With only a week to go before the St Andrews Bay Championship tees-off, anticipation is building for what is another notable landmark in the Asian Tour’s history

The International Series England that ended on Sunday has set the stage for the final leg of the Asian Tour’s UK Swing with the inaugural $1.5 million St Andrews Bay Championship that tees off on Thursday with a field of 156 players including two amateurs.

Andy Ogletree’s victory margin at Close House near Newcastle was a decisive one and he will face an even stiffer challenge at Fairmont St Andrews with the Asian Tour’s front-runners and a goodly number of LIV Golf League personnel helping make up the numbers including major winner Sergio Garcia.

Anirban Lahiri’s third place finish at Newcastle sets things up nicely too as he makes use of the opportunity to pick up world ranking points that are currently denied to LIV Golf events. The Close House podium took Lahiri from 147th to 127th on the Official World Golf Ranking list and he will be keen to improve on that further as reconciliation with the game’s establishment is likely to happen sooner rather than later.

Joining him will be 14 Indians including former national Open winners Jyoti Randhawa and Shiv Shankar Prasad Chawrasia who now play on the Asian Tour. Others include Gaganjeet Bhullar, Rashid Khan, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Viraj Madappa, Veer Ahalwat, Karandeep Kochhar, Shiv Kapur, Chikkarangappa S., Honey Baisoya, Rahil Gangjee, Kartik Sharma, and Khalin Joshi.

There will also plenty of interest around Scottish-Indian player Sam Mukherjee, one of two amateurs in the field alongside Thailand’s Ratchanon ‘TK’ Chantananuwat. Twins Samuel and Oliver Mukherjee have been in the news the last couple of years though it was their youngest sibling Cameron who was a scratch handicapper much earlier than them. All three brothers are beneficiaries of former Indian Open winner Stephen Gallacher’s development programme.

Among those on Ogletree’s heels on the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit are DGC Open winner Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines, Zimbabwe’s Kieran Vincent, Australians Wade Ormsby, Brendan Jones and Kevin Yuan, Hong Kong’s Taichi Kho and Sadom Kaewkanjana and Gunn Charoenkul of Thailand.

Ogletree (International Series Qatar and England), Jones (New Zealand Open), Ormsby (International Series Thailand), Tabuena (The DGC Open presented by Mastercard) and Kho (World City Championship) will be joined by fellow Tour winners Chanmin Jung (GS Caltex Maekyung Open) of South Korea, and Thai Nitithorn Thippong (Mandiri Indonesia Open).

Cho Minn Thant, Asian Tour Commissioner and CEO, said: “With only a week to go before the St Andrews Bay Championship tees-off, anticipation is building for what is another notable landmark in the Asian Tour’s history.

“It’s testament to the significance of this championship that we have such a fantastic turnout from Asian Tour members. Everyone wants to be a part of this ground-breaking new addition to our calendar.”

The final leg of the Asian Tour’s UK Swing will be played over the Torrance Course at Fairmont St Andrews and is also the Tour’s first event in Scotland.

Designed by European Ryder Cup legend Sam Torrance, the 7,230-yard layout at Fairmont St Andrews has previously hosted DP World (European) Tour and European Seniors Tour as well as being a venue for Open Qualifying.

ASIA Announces 'The Heat Of The Moment' July 2024 U.S. Tour

ASIA has announced "The Heat of The Moment Tour" , headlined by ASIA and also featuring FOCUS , Martin Turner (ex- WISHBONE ASH ) and CURVED AIR and MC'd by artist Roger Dean .

The trek will commence on July 3, 2024 and will incorporate 21 dates across the USA and Canada.

The tour has been masterminded by rock music keyboard legend and original ASIA member Geoff Downes ( BUGGLES , YES ).

"Asia" was the biggest selling album of 1982, No. 1 on Billboard for nine weeks and pioneers of the MTV era. Downes 's brand new iteration of ASIA first began to evolve last summer at the concert held in memory of late lead singer, songwriter and bassist John Wetton ( KING CRIMSON , ROXY MUSIC , URIAH HEEP , WISHBONE ASH , UK , ASIA , JOHN WETTON BAND , ICON ). Downes invited old friend John Mitchell ( IT BITES , FROST, LONELY ROBOT , KINO , JOHN WETTON BAND , ICON ) and newcomer Harry Whitley to join him on stage to celebrate Wetton 's life by performing some of the classic ASIA hits. Such was the uproarious reception to their set, that Downes wondered if something magical was beginning to take shape.

"And so it was that the John Wetton tribute last August really reminded me how much ASIA 's music belongs on the stage," Geoff said. "The response to it all was literally…spine-tingling."

Downes 's new-look ASIA will once again feature Mitchell on guitars and Whitley on lead vocal and bass. The quartet will be made complete by the addition of Virgil Donati ( UK , SOUTHERN SONS , STEVE VAI , ALLAN HOLDSWORTH ) on drums.

Downes continues: "With the addition of Virgil Donati and John Mitchell , two of the finest musicians in the world in their respective classes, this is almost going full circle bearing in mind their previous close collaborations with John W . Completing this circle is also the amazing Harry Whitley who absolutely floored the audience with his incredible vocal interpretation of the ASIA songs that John W and I so lovingly wrote over the years."

The tour will also feature sets from other classic acts FOCUS , Turner and CURVED AIR . All three support acts boast their founder bandleaders and have deservedly attained the status of legend.

FOCUS will release a brand new studio album later in 2024. Led by the indomitable Sir Thijs Van Leer , it features original 1970s drummer Pierre Van Der Linden , plus the virtuoso talents of Menno Gootjes on guitar and Udo Pannekeet on bass.

Martin Turner was lead vocalist, bassist, founding member and creative force behind 1970s rock music behemoth WISHBONE ASH , best known for such classic albums as "Argus" and "Pilgrimage" .

Formed in 1970, CURVED AIR are one of the founders of progressive rock and a retrospective collection of their most influential and ground-breaking material is currently in the planning stages. Sonja Kristina (vocals) and Kirby Gregory (guitar) will treat audiences to an acoustic set featuring some of the band's most memorable musical moments. They will be joined by violinist Grzegorz Gadziomski .

Each performance on the tour will be MC'd by legendary artist Roger Dean . For so many, Dean 's artwork is synonymous with the music of the time and stands to represent the very best of British rock music.

The final word goes to Geoff Downes : "I am convinced that John 's [ Wetton ] spirit is with us as we set out on this new adventure. After all, it is the Year Of The Dragon — just as it was in 1982, when we released our first ASIA album. It's as though it was meant to be. Looking forward to seeing you there, my friends — bring it on!”

2024 "Heat Of The Moment Tour" dates:

Inside the heartbreak: foh tours.

asia tour fairmont

ABOVE: A view of the stage— and all of the scaffolding— from the Fairmont Opera House balcony.

FAIRMONT– The Fairmont Opera House (FOH) will provide guided tours to the community on Friday and Saturday, the 26th and 27th of this month. By attending said guided tours, guests will examine the haunting condition of the theater, from the scaffolding and the construction where audiences once sat for entertainment. This includes the lobby, balcony, the footlight lounge, the theater, stage and more.

The Opera House has been closed to the public since October 2023 and will remain closed at least through the end of 2024 as repairs are being made to its roof. Currently several large trusses are holding up the roof while plans for fundraising are being made in order to generate the large amount of money needed to make the repairs and reopen the facility.

The Fairmont Opera House is the oldest operating theater in Minnesota, having been built in 1901 and standing as one of the most significant pieces of history in the county. The historical building shares not only entertainment, but delivers education, cultural experiences and a home.

Blake Potthoff is the executive director of the Fairmont Opera House, a position he’s held since 2016.

“I’ve seen the facility for eight months. It’s still a bit surreal. For others, pictures don’t do justice. You need to feel the weight of it,” Potthoff said. “Also to understand what it’s like to be back in the facility and hope for the future.”

Potthoff mentioned how difficult it is, especially as director (and someone who has grown up in the community), and for the board and staff, to find such a remarkable piece of Fairmont in this state of construction. Potthoff added that although it’d be a tedious task, he was hopeful to have the Opera House return to its former glory.

“It’s hard to stand on stage, and think that such a short period of time ago, we were performing here on stage. This is really difficult and it weighs on everyone. This is a facility that so many people love, and they’re going to feel differently.”

Potthoff reminisced about the memories people have made at the Opera House, from summer theater, to other performing arts and events that made the building thrive.

The tours have been conducted to expand the message and call for help. The longer it takes for construction to finish, the more expensive it becomes. Potthoff noted how urgent the project is in order to open doors again.

“The tour is a way to expand a network of people, and we’ll hopefully find more people to commit to the project and donate. More names in the pool will make the project easier,” Potthoff said.

The Fairmont Opera House has spread inclusivity, participating with the community and aligning common interests. Potthoff hopes to provoke value of the building towards potential donors and those helping the cause. He asks, ‘What do you care about?’ whether it’s children, grandchildren, musicians, friends, family, learning or growing, the Opera House engages and revolves around the community and what the people want.

“We’re so much more than just a performing space. Our doors are open to everybody, and anybody at any time. The building is for the community, and exists because of the community. It’s a home, it’s a welcoming place for everybody, it’s a reflection of Fairmont, too,” Potthoff commented.

It is recommended by the staff of the Fairmont Opera House that guests sign-up for a tour date prior to the event. Due to the amount of construction, tour attendees are recommended to be aged 18 or older. Beyond the guided tours, the building is currently closed for construction, and cannot continue the agenda of entertainment in their theater until the duration of construction is concluded and all repairs are made. Members of the Fairmont community are strongly encouraged to donate to preserve the Opera House, its mission and keep doors open.

Asian Tour breaks new ground with first-ever event on Scottish soil

(Fairmont St Andrews, Scotland –10 April 2023) The Asian Tour is set to make history by staging an event for the first time in Scotland at the much-acclaimed Fairmont St Andrews on 24-27 August 2023.

The inaugural St Andrews Bay Championship will take place at the venue’s Torrance Course, a 7,320-yard layout set among 520 acres of stunning Scottish coastline with views of St Andrews Bay. Designed by former Ryder Cup and golfing legend Sam Torrance, the course is marked by its deep revetted bunkers, large greens and links design. Less than five miles from the Home of Golf, where there is recorded evidence of golf being played as long ago as 1552, Fairmont St Andrews has previously staged many notable international events including on the DP World Tour, the European Seniors Tour, on six occasions between 2009 and 2014, as well as Open Qualifying.

Fairmont St Andrews owners Caleb Chan and Dr Peter Lam both hail from Hong Kong and their decision to host the event comes off the back of the inspired recent victory of Taichi Kho – who became the first Hong Kong player to win on the Asian Tour in just his third professional start on Tour. His victory in the World City Championship also earned him a berth in his first Major championship, this summer’s Open.

Callum Nicoll, Head of Golf and Estates at Fairmont St Andrews, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be staging another world class event at Fairmont St Andrews, and to be making history as the first Scottish host for the distinguished Asian Tour. The Torrance course offers a challenging test for the players this summer, blending the principles of links golf with a more modern style.

Following immediately after the International Series England in an Asian Tour ‘UK summer swing’, the 156-strong field will compete for a minimum of US$1.5m prize purse on the modern links layout in the sixth installment of The International Series 2023 schedule.

“This is testament to the global vision of The International Series, and we are grateful to the dedicated team behind the scenes which has enabled the Asian Tour to grow from strength to strength over a short period of time.”

The Asian Tour’s elite-level International Series comprises of 10 events, featuring elevated prize funds, staged at iconic venues and welcoming top golfers from every continent and tour.

Asia Pacific Gen-Zs and Millenials Seek to Unlock Value and Maximize Travel Experience With One Loyalty Program

Regional survey by marriott bonvoy uncovers key traits of travel-oriented, value-driven gen-zs and millennials.

Marriott Bonvoy Trends

A survey by Marriott Bonvoy, the award-winning travel program of Marriott International, has found that a majority of Gen Zs and Millennials in Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) prefer the simplicity of belonging to one comprehensive loyalty travel program.

While 60% of APEC Gen Zs and Millennials are actively subscribed to loyalty programs, the challenge of juggling several loyalty programs has led most (57%) to seek out one program that meets all their travel needs. Marriott Bonvoy carried out the survey of 1,000 respondents across ten markets in APEC to better understand the shifting attitudes of Millennials and Gen Zs and their travel behaviors. The survey identified an emerging generation of travel-focused, value-driven " Savvy Explorers " in APEC who seek to maximize their travel dollars and unique travel experiences.

Travel in 2024 is a priority for Gen Zs and Millennials: 73% report their intentions to take at least two trips in the next 12 months and 91% plan to spend the same, if not more, on their trips compared to the year before. Travel is viewed as an essential lifestyle component, and most are willing to reduce everyday spending on dining out (60%), shopping sprees (57%) and their daily coffee (54%) so as to spend more on a holiday.

“Survey results suggest that Gen Zs and Millennials in APEC are purposefully strategizing how they can channel value from their everyday spend toward rewarding travel experiences. They also prefer to be part of only one all-encompassing loyalty travel program which fulfills their needs. To this end, Marriott Bonvoy – which gives members access to over 30 brands in 10,000 destinations -- is well positioned to deliver greater value and unlock more experiences for Gen Zs and Millennials,” says John Toomey, Marriott International’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Asia Pacific excluding China .

“As testament to the program’s appeal, we have seen Marriott Bonvoy’s membership base in APEC grow by more than 50% since 2019. What’s more encouraging is that our members are highly active. They earned 40% more points in 2023 compared to 2022, and are putting their points to good use, with points redemptions increasing by more than 55% in the same period,” he reveals.

The trend of greater member growth and activity extends to the Marriott Bonvoy app. APEC member enrolment via digital channels grew by more than 25%, with mobile app downloads and active users more than doubling in 2023 compared to pre-pandemic levels.

The regional survey also uncovered notable trends amongst Gen Zs and Millennials across the 10 APEC countries. Market-specific trends can be found in Annex A.

Travel value unlocked through everyday spend Savvy Explorers take considered steps to unlock travel value through everyday spend. Leveraging on their familiarity with loyalty programs, APEC’s Gen Z and Millennials employ varied tactics to maximize their travel rewards: four in five say they have gone out of their way to use a travel-linked credit card for everyday purchases, and 67% actively use a travel loyalty program to book and redeem local experiences and staycations.

This trend is supported by usage behaviors of Marriott Bonvoy members in APEC. They accumulated points from stays across more than 8,800 Marriott International properties globally, and through everyday spend. Redemption for hotel stays in 2023 registered a 130% increase compared to pre-pandemic times, accounting for the majority of redemptions, followed by points-to-miles conversions on partner airlines.

Hotels become a key destination to explore Hotel experience is key to winning the hearts and dollars of the Gen Z and Millennial segment, with 99% of respondents believing their hotel choice can make or break their holiday. Hotels are also increasingly viewed as a key destination for exploration, going beyond the role of ‘accommodation’. Nearly four in five respondents expect their hotel to provide curated local programming and experiences, whilst 84% prefer to stay at a hotel with designs and activities reflective of its destination.

The recent debut of Moxy Hotels – noted for its hallmark playful nature, innovative design and contemporary amenities – in key APEC markets exemplifies Marriott International’s commitment to continuously bring new hospitality experiences to the region.

Despite a desire to maximize their travel budgets where they can, their hotel is one area that APEC’s Gen Z and Millennials are willing to invest extra travel dollars towards. Top motivations for new-generation travelers to splurge include the hotel’s room offerings (48%) and location (42%). Whilst amenities remain key considerations, these guests value a seamless travel experience, with mobile-first customer service (61%), reliable WiFi (68%) and flexible check-out (64%) outpacing traditional benefits like lounge access (42%).

Destination ‘dupes’ fuel intra-regional travel demand International travel has returned but APEC’s Gen Z and Millennials remain committed to destinations closer to home. While iconic holiday locations like the Swiss Alps and Bora Bora maintain their appeal, 55% are opting for destinations within the region that provide a similar experience. These so-called “destination dupes” are fast gaining traction amongst this segment because they allow Gen Zs and Millennials to stretch their travel expenses (69%), discover something new (63%) and are easily accessible (62%).

As a reflection of robust intra-regional travel demand in 2023, Marriott International saw over 60% of bookings in APEC coming from within the region.

Corporate backpackers on the rise Gen Zs and Millennials are also taking bleisure travel up a notch by capitalizing on the opportunity of a business trip to embark on multi-destination tours. In addition to extending their travel plans (68%), 84% plan to explore nearby cities and countries as part of their post-work itinerary.

With more than 560 properties across 24 brands in 22 countries and territories in APEC to choose from, Marriott International offers customers a myriad of options to mix work with pleasure.

Off-peak travel maximizes destination experience Gen Zs and Millennials are also carefully planning when to travel to maximize their trip experience. The majority (71%) of Gen Z and Millennials say they would opt to travel during off-peak seasons so as to beat the crowds and get more out of their trip. 67% feel they can do more during low-peak seasons, and 77% leave their holidays feeling more relaxed and rejuvenated.

Where Marriott Bonvoy Can Take You Marriott Bonvoy allows members to earn when they stay or spend at Marriott International’s growing portfolio of over 30 extraordinary brands across 139 countries and territories, and in over 8,800 properties. In APEC, members can benefit from the program’s key strategic partnerships with Singapore Airlines and co-branded credits cards in Japan, Korea and India. With Marriott Bonvoy Moments, members can get access to once-in-lifetime experiences such the opportunity to get closer to the action with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Note to Editor Findings are from a commissioned survey by Marriott International conducted in April 2024 on 1000 Gen Z (18 – 24 years old) and Millennials (25 – 41 years old) based in Japan, Korea, India, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines, who would budget for their own travels.

The term ‘Savvy Explorers’ refers to Gen Z and millennial travelers who continue to prioritize travel as a key part of their lifestyle and are always on the lookout for ways in which they can maximize and value add to their planned trips through curated accommodations, key experiences and new destinations.

Refer to Annex A for additional data on the preferences of new generation travelers across the APEC region.

Does Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui, Have A Gold Club Lounge?

Fairmont hotels usually offer Gold Club Lounges, but Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui is an exception and does not offer any executive club lounge at all.

Fairmont Kea Lani is an exceptional Fairmont hotel in the resort area of Wailea on Maui. If you walk around the headland from Fairmont Kea Lani you will reach the Four Seasons, Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, and the Wailea Beach Resort by Marriott. This Fairmont couldn’t be better located.

This hotel has numerous pools, and its rooms start at an enormous 860 sq.ft. or 80 sq.m. Even the base rooms here are called Suites, and there are three room types to choose from;

The Fairmont Suite offers exceptional value. These one-bedroom suites are spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a family of four and include an abundance of luxury suite amenities. Please note that a family of 5 may also book this suite if 2 adults with 3 children.

The Partial Ocean View Suite is the same size as the Fairmont Suite, offering spacious one-bedroom suite accommodation, luxury suite amenities, and partial or angled ocean views from your large private lanai.

Finally, there is the Kilohana Corner Suite which also fits 4 people, two on a king and two on a sofa bed. Perfect for special occasions and romantic getaways, these impressive corner suites offer 1100 sq.ft. of living space with an oversized wrap-around corner lanai (400 sq.ft.) featuring spectacular panoramic ocean and sunset views. Enjoy the binoculars placed in these suites to get a closer look at breaching whales in season, neighbor islands, and expansive views of our dazzling Maui sunsets.

All these rooms are excellent, but none are Gold Rooms, and none offer access to any kind of Gold Club Lounge.

If you are looking for a Fairmont hotel on the Hawaiian islands with an excellent club lounge, try the Fairmont Orchid on Big Island. The Fairmont Orchid has a stunning location, gorgeous tropical beachfront grounds, and a club lounge with an alfresco area, where you can enjoy the free club food and drinks outside under the Hawaiian sunshine.

We have compared the Fairmont Kea Lani to the Fairmont Orchid to help you work out the pros and cons of these two Fairmont hotels.

Which hotel is best, Fairmont Orchid on Big Island Vs. Fairmont Kea Lani on Maui? We think Fairmont Orchid has a more beautiful setting and feels less busy. But if you want a better beach, a selection of pools, including an adults-only pool, and a more upscale feel, Fairmont Kea Lani may be a better choice. We'll go ahead and outline the differences in more detail below. Book your stay at either hotel via our luxury travel concierge for extra benefits and perks at both of these hotels. We should be able to offer you a brilliant deal.

If you want a hotel with a club lounge on Maui, two of the best club lounges in Hawaii are found on this island. Four Seasons Maui has a petite and very exclusive club lounge. This Four Seasons is just a stroll away from the Fairmont Kea Lani.

Over on the other side of the island the Ritz-Carlton Maui offers an extravagant and newly refurbished club lounge that should not be missed.

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa also offers an excellent club lounge, and this hotel tends to come in cheaper than the Four Seasons and the Ritz-Carlton so it is worth considering.

Book your stay at any of these hotels via our luxury travel concierge for extra benefits and perks. We should be able to offer you a brilliant deal, including free breakfast, resort credit, and prioritized room upgrades.

All three of these hotels feature in our listing of the best club lounges in Hawaii .
