We did BBQ & Brews and it was an AMAZING fit for our group! Matt our tour guide didn’t miss a beat with our sarcastically funny group. We were all excited to compete in the spice rub challenge, learned a lot with the beer tasting game, and killed it with the game show! Everything was well taken care of by Matt. It was so much fun to do something unique that even those in our group local to Texas enjoyed. Highly recommend!

Well worth every cent spent! Best Guided Tour we have been on. Energetic and fun to listen to the interesting facts about Austin. We had a blast, loved the details on Weird Austin and the History of this great City. If you get Bobby you strike Gold, it’s that simple! Bring a smile, he will wear it out!

Our team was in town for meetings in NW Austin, and we booked the BBQ Challenge and Craft Beer tasting. Bobbi and team did a fantastic job and I got tons of positive feedback from the 30+ people who went.

We were on a company sponsored beer and BBQ crawl and despite all the noise and distractions Sonny did a fab job of giving us some history about the town and keeping us organized during a multi stop beer and great food experience! Totally recommend them if you’re in town and want to experience Austin!

three men sit around a platter of BBQ and sides at Franklin Barbecue in Austin Texas

Franklin Barbecue

Sink your teeth into the ultra-tender brisket crafted by James Beard Award-winning pitmaster Aaron Franklin. Bon Appétit magazine and loyal locals call Franklin Barbecue the best of the best. Order online for pickup (minimum order of five pounds of meat).

Distant Relatives

Named by  Eater  as one of the 11 Best New Restaurants in America,  Distant Relatives  food truck raises the bar on barbecue. Pitmaster Damien Brockway looks to his African ancestry for unique ingredients to sauce his meats, such as tamarind molasses and chile-vinegar dip, and cooks up sides like burnt ends with black eyed peas. Distant Relatives is parked at  Meanwhile Brewing Co.

Sam’s Bar-B-Que

The family-run Sam’s is an old-school barbecue joint that’s been open in East Austin since 1957. This no-frills spot is known for its fall-off-the-bone ribs and tender brisket that are cooked over an indoor brick pit. Order traditional sides like baked beans or potato salad.

This Asian smokehouse with a casual backyard barbecue vibe is located on hot South Lamar. Headed up by noted Austin pitmaster Aaron Franklin (of Franklin Barbecue) and Chef Tyson Cole (of Uchi fame), the James Beard Award-winning duo turns out traditional favorites with a twist, like smoked beef brisket flavored with Thai herbs and oak-smoked salmon in cucumber-yuzu broth.  Loro 's unique sides include coconut-scented rice with lemongrass.

Person in Leroy and Lewis merch holding plate of barbecue and sides

LeRoy and Lewis

This food truck located at Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden offers a creative take on barbecue, using seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and ranches. Meats are sliced to order and served by the pound (try the decadent sliced beef cheeks). Playful desserts at  LeRoy and Lewis include the cheddar cheesecake made with a Ritz cracker crust.

Brown’s Bar-B-Que

Who says you need to have a sit-down restaurant to serve up swoon-worthy food? Walk up to this barbecue trailer outside Corner Bar on South Lamar to put in your order, and leave with a plate piled high with some of the best ‘cue around: succulent pulled pork, smoked chicken, juicy ribs and perfectly charred brisket. And don’t even get us started on Brown's sauce-slathered brisket-and-sausage sandwich.

Texas Ranch BBQ

Step up to the Texas Ranch BBQ trailer and order meats like lean brisket, spare ribs and sausage by the half-pound. Or opt for the Posse Pack and choose three pounds of meat with a pick of two pint-size sides, including cream corn, pinto beans (dotted with sausage and bacon) or white cheddar mac ‘n cheese. Side your meal with a Dr. Pepper or Topo Chico and you’re good to go!

Taco from Valentinas Tex Mex BBQ

Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ

Barbecue for breakfast? You betcha. Cruise up to this food trailer and start your day with The Real Deal Holyfield, a breakfast taco loaded with a fried egg, potatoes, refried beans, bacon and your choice of mesquite-smoked brisket, pulled pork or cerveza beef fajita. For lunch or dinner, take your pick from Valentina's  “Tex” sandwiches or “Mex” tacos — or just order juicy meats by the pound, from pulled chicken and pork to beef and pork ribs.

Terry Black’s Barbecue

Legendary barbecue runs in the Black family, who passed down their smoky, saucy secrets from one generation to the next. Get a taste of the family tradition at their Austin hot spot near Butler Park, where all kinds of meats—tender brisket, peppered pork ribs, smoked turkey and juicy sausage—are paired with classic sides like creamy mac ‘n cheese, cream corn and baked potato salad.

Rollin Smoke

This modest food truck turns out impressive flavors from its barbecue smoker that’s affectionately named Crystal Gayle. Rollin Smoke is known for its pulled pork sandwiches, handmade jalapenõ-cheddar pork sausage and dino-sized pork ribs. But don’t miss out on the brisket taco or the four-cheese mac and cheese, smoked on the pit.

Iron Works Barbecue platter with Lone Star Beer

Iron Works Barbecue

Originally an ironworks shop, this tiny tin building (a state historic site) was transformed into a barbecue haven in 1978. Iron Works ' plates come loaded with famous Texas sliced beef, ribs and more, while the mouthwatering sandwich menu spans smoked turkey and pulled pork. Can’t decide? Order the sampler plate and dig into sliced beef, signature hot sausage and a beef rib served with potato salad, beans, pickle, onion, bread and barbecue sauce.

Black’s BBQ

The Original Black’s BBQ in Lockhart now has an Austin outpost, serving barbecue cooked fresh on the Lockhart pits and hand-delivered to Austin daily. Three generations stand behind the slow-smoked recipes, dating back to 1932. Among them: pork spare ribs, chopped beef brisket, turkey breast, pulled pork and Black’s famous homemade sausage, crafted from an 80-year-old recipe.

Whitfield’s

This respected food truck is the master of all things barbecue, from brisket and ribs to pulled pork and sausages. Order your meat by the half-pound or try it on a sandwich or nestled in a taco. Be sure to sample Whitfield's surprising offering of pickled foods, including strawberries and broccoli. Fun fact: owner and pitmaster Kasey Studdard is a former Longhorn and Houston Texans football player.

Barbecue and Lone Star Beer at Stiles Switch BBQ

Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew

Situated in the Art Deco-style Violet Crown Shopping Center (you might recognize it from the 1990s film " Dazed and Confused "), Stiles Switch is named after the historic 1800s I. & G. N. railroad stop. Sip Austin craft brews and try the brisket with classic sides such as potato salad, corn casserole and peach cobbler while taking in the nostalgic ambiance.

InterStellar BBQ

InterStellar BBQ takes pride in using high-quality ingredients, sourcing the best post oak wood for its BBQ and slowly cooking one batch at a time. Sample the house-made, all-beef Kielbasa (available by the link) or the peach tea-glazed pork belly. Outstanding sides include the smoked scalloped potatoes and the fresh tomato-zucchini salad.

The County Line

Boasting two Austin locations— County Line On The Lake and County Line On The Hill —this Texas institution is dedicated to high-quality smoked ribs, brisket, sausage and chicken served with traditional sides of coleslaw, potato salad and beans. The County Line is all about large portions and reasonable prices.

Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que

Home of the world-famous "Big Chop” (a mesquite-grilled, two-inch-thick pork chop), this Hill Country original recently opened its Austin outpost, serving lunch and dinner cafeteria-style. Sit outside and savor the Texas institution ’s brisket, chicken, sirloin, cabrito (goat) or turkey.

Overhead view of a platter of bbq meats and sides like beans, slaw, grits and potato salad

Micklethwait Craft Meats

Yes, this quaint food trailer in East Austin has all the classic mainstays: brisket, ribs, pulled pork and such. But it takes barbecue to another level with its specials—such as the brisket Frito pie with chili, cheddar and escabeche—and its gourmet sides, including lemon-poppy seed coleslaw, chili beans and jalapeño cheese grits. If you still have room, don’t pass up on Micklethwait 's decadent house-made desserts (we’re talking banana cream pie).

Lamberts Downtown Barbecue

Lamberts ' menu spins modern interpretations of Texas cuisine. The smell-it-before-you-see-it bar, restaurant and live music venue serves up barbecue like country-style pork ribs with a jalapeño, maple and vinegar mop, along with wood-grilled steaks, chops and seafood. Side yours with the cashew-lime coleslaw or collard greens.

Slab BBQ & Beer

Known for its barbecue sammiches, including the Notorious P.I.G. made with pulled pork and mustard slaw, Slab breaks from traditional Texas barbecue, bringing in the flavors of Memphis, Alabama and the Carolinas. Must-try sides include the smoked gouda-cheddar mac and the twice-baked potato casserole.

la Barbecue

la Barbecue recently moved a few blocks up East Cesar Chavez Street to a new, larger location. But the pitmasters are still serving up world-class beef, pork, turkey and sausage in a custom-fabricated smoker using local, perfectly seasoned post oak. Sample their El Sancho Loco sandwich (pulled pork and chopped brisket on top of house-made sausage with pickled red onions) and see why they rank among the upper echelons of the barbecue world.

Texas Bbq Trail Map

Texas BBQ Trail Overview

From cowboys to cotton fields, Taylor is full of charm and natural beauty. It’s also home to two incredible BBQ joints.

Elgin is the Sausage Capital of Texas and is just north of Austin. It’s another small town that has been able to retain its charm.

Bastrop may be the most unique town on the entire trail. Enjoy some live music, and end with some mouthwatering barbecue treats.

Luling is a little city that offers BIG flavors. While you’re eating your way through the city, you will also find some pretty cool nature spots.

This is the barbecue capital of Texas! Lockhart is known as the Lone Star State’s barbecue mecca along with music and breweries.

When it comes to barbecue, Austin does not play around. Fortunately, it’s easy to find a delicious barbecue in Austin.

Texas BBQ Trail

Taylor may be one of the smallest towns on the trail, but it’s one of the most charming. Beyond the barbecue, there are many incredible aspects to Taylor.

They have incredible sunsets, fields of cotton, and plenty of cowboys that are willing to take you for a ride, but Taylor is much more than that. Every city wants a blend of cultural diversity, natural beauty, and opportunity, and that’s precisely what Taylor provides.

You’ll experience something truly remarkable when you visit. Here are two of the best BBQ spots in Taylor.

Austin to Taylor is 36.6 Miles and should take approximately 40 minutes to drive.

Louie Mueller Barbecue

Louie Mueller Barbecue

Louie Mueller Barbecue has been lauded as “a cathedral of smoke” due to its excellent BBQ since 1949. Louis Mueller transferred control of his restaurant to his son, Bobby, in 1974, who controlled the smoker for 33 years until his son, Wayne Mueller, took over in 2007.

When the James Beard Foundation awarded an American Classics prize to the BBQ restaurant in Central Texas in 2007, it honored the country’s finest and most popular regional cuisine.

The menu has remained relatively similar since the restaurant’s founding, but the Mueller clan’s dedication to serving the finest Texas BBQ (and, indeed, world BBQ) remains intact.

You’ll find a Mueller behind the counter, and the highest quality beef, sausage, and pork will be served on your tray, just as it was then.

Opening times: Wednesday – Saturday 11 am – 4 pm (or until sold out). Located at 206 W 2nd Street, Taylor.

Davis Grocery & BBQ

Since 1994, Davis Grocery and BBQ has provided Taylor, Texas, and nearby areas with great customer service and a family-like experience. Owner and pitmaster James Davis Jr., a Taylor native, opened this business in the area to benefit himself and his family.

Besides offering the community his services daily, he has been working in retail grocery for over 20 years, and he now provides the greatest meat. Their meat includes the finest brisket, which has a crunchy bark.

Their ribs are so tender that they fall off the bone, and all of their meats are enhanced with “Come Back Juice” BBQ Sauce.

They are open Monday – Saturday 9 am – 6 pm and Sunday 9 am – 4 pm. Located at 400 South Robinson Street, Taylor.

Where to Stay in Taylor

There are limited options for hotels in Taylor. This is mainly due to its small size. Take a look at some of these options for your visit:

Holiday Inn Express & Suites – Taylor – Taylor’s Holiday Inn Express & Suites provides an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a lounge, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has family rooms. A continental or buffet breakfast is available for guests.

Airbnb Tayor, Texas – Renting out a place through Airbnb would be a good idea for your stay in Taylor. There are plenty of options here for your trip

Next stop! Elgin – The Sausage Capital of Texas is just north of Austin and is another small town that has been able to retain its charm.

Because of the presence of three brickyards in the mid-20th century (two of which are still operational), Elgin is known as the Brick Capital of the Southwest.

Beyond barbecue, Elgin has great shops and events, so don’t forget to explore! The top two BBQ hotspots in Elgin are:

Taylor to Elgin is 16 Miles. This drive should take approximately 19 minutes.

Southside Market & BBQ

Southside Market & Bbq

Now this place has a history lesson all of its own, dating back to 1882! William Moon founded Southside Market in 1882 by raising and killing animals on FM 1704.

He drove his horse-drawn wagon into Elgin and sold the meat door-to-door fresh, or he lost it due to spoilage. Since he couldn’t refrigerate the meat, the Smoked Sausage and BBQ were created. In 1908, Moon sold the business to Lee Wilson, who continued to run the  Butcher Shop that sold BBQ in the back.

On the menu, they have everything you could want from a traditional Texan BBQ, including brisket, steak, and ribs. Don’t forget to try their famous sausage slammers!

They’re open Monday – Sunday 9 am – 8 pm, and offer Dine-In, Drive-Thru, Meat Market, and Online Ordering for Curbside Pickup & Delivery! Located at 1212 Highway 290, Elgin.

Meyer’s Elgin Sausage

Meyer’s Elgin Sausage is so delicious that no one can resist it. This popular eating place is much more than a simple restaurant; it’s an experience. Customers return day after day after four generations of experience, it’s no wonder they do.

After four generations of expertise, it’s not surprising that people keep coming back. People rave about the high-quality meats, the special blends of spices, the natural casings, and the hickory smoke flavor of Meyer’s sausage.

But most consider the critical aspect of Meyer Sausage Company and Meyer’s Elgin Smokehouse’s success is the family pride and tradition that has lasted for over 75 years.

You can find them at 188 Highway – 290, Elgin. They’re open for dine-in and drive-thru from 10 am – 8 pm.

Where to Stay in Elgin

Again, because Elgin is such a small town, there are fewer hotels to choose from. We’ve found a few good suggestions for you to have a look at.

Quality Inn & Suites Elgin by Choice Hotels – This pet-friendly hotel provides a wide range of amenities and excellent service at an economical price. Throughout the hotel, fast and free Wi-Fi keeps you connected, and a free hot breakfast keeps you nourished and energized when on the go.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Elgin – This hotel is ideally located close to three major brick manufacturers, namely the Luminant Power Plant and award-winning Meyer’s Sausage Company, and Southside Market and BBQ. Breakfast is included, and there is free complimentary coffee in the lobby.

Airbnb Elgin, Texas – If you would prefer your own space, then check out Airbnb for some great holiday rentals in Elgin.

Next up! Bastrop may be the most unique town on the entire trail. It’s in the middle of the trail, which makes it a good midpoint for those driving from the north or south.

Beyond the midpoint location, Bastrop has a lot to offer. The town has a unique charm and culture all its own from the moment you cross the iconic Old Iron Bridge.

Take a walk along the charming downtown streets, you’ll be welcomed from the moment you step foot on them. Why not take part in an epic outdoor experience, followed by some live music, and end with some mouthwatering barbecue treats.

Elgin to Bastrop is 18 Miles. This drive should only take around 20 minutes.

Billy’s Pit Bbq

Welcome to the barbecue capital of Texas! Lockhart has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a cowboy town along the Chisholm Trail to a thriving Texas town with a vision.

Although it’s still known as the Lone Star State’s barbecue mecca, Lockhart is beginning to expand beyond that reputation. Austin’s skyrocketing costs have driven musicians and breweries to the city, as well as big-city-style restaurants.

You should expect to spend more time in Lockhart’s downtown area because there is so much more than barbecue to be discovered.

Take a look at some of Lockhart’s BBQ venues. You won’t be disappointed!

Luling to Lockhart is 15 miles. Drive time is around 20 minutes.

Kreuz Market

Kreuz Market

Kreuz Market was one of the places that defined Texas barbecue over 100 years ago. Due to a complicated family feud, Kreuz Market moved out of town a few years ago and now operates from an airplane hangar-like dining barn.

If you’re a carnivore and you want to satisfy your craving, this is the place to go. Kreuz Market’s prime rib is one of the finest meats ever cooked in a pit. Brisket, sausage, and ribs are also excellent.

Despite its new facilities, Kreuz has kept its pit-cook tradition. The eatery offers a limited menu of meat, bread, and condiments (plus ice cream in a separate corner), and meat is served by the pound after being sliced to order and served from a ferociously hot pit.

Located at 619 North Colorado Street, Lockhart. Open: Monday – Saturday 10:30am – 8pm, Sunday 10:30am – 6pm.

Smitty’s Market

One of the top BBQ restaurants in Texas, according to Texas Monthly magazine, was voted Best Sausage, Best BBQ, Best Meat Market, Best Ribs, and Best Brisket in Caldwell County in 2015 by the Lockhart Post Register.

In 1948, Smitty bought Kreuz Market in downtown Lockhart. Thirty years later, in 1978, he bought the 1906 dry goods store next door to create additional dining space.

In 1999, Nina Schmidt Sells, his daughter, opened Smitty’s Market in the location that had been her father’s Kreuz Market for over 50 years, while her brother moved Kreuz Market to a new location down the road.

In 2015, she purchased a twenty-eight hundred square foot building next to Smitty’s Market to create additional dining and banquet areas.

Despite the fact that Smitty’s Market has expanded significantly, the market and pit are still in the spot where barbecue has been sold in Lockhart since 1924 when the Kreuz family established the building.

Their delicious menu includes brisket, shoulder clod, prime rib, and sausages with sides including beans, potato salad, coleslaw, mac n cheese, and chips. If you want to cook for yourself, they also sell fresh meat and cold sausage.

Location: 208 South Commerce, Lockhart. Opening: Monday – Friday 7am-6pm, Saturday 7am-6.30pm, Sunday 9am-6.30pm.

Lockhart Chisholm Trail BBQ

Chisholm Trail Bar-B-Que has been churning out traditional, slow-cooked barbecue since 1978. They offer brisket, ribs, sausage, chicken, plate dinners, sandwiches, and more.

The meats are slowly cooked in real fire pits using post oak wood. They offer worldwide shipping and catering as well! Because of their superior food, they’ve been recognized as a BBQ favorite by the locals on numerous occasions.

Located at 1323 South Colorado Street, Lockhart.

Open: Monday-Wednesday 7am – 8pm, Thursday – Saturday 7am – 9pm, Sunday 8am – 8pm. Serving breakfast daily 7 am – 10:30 am

The moment you set foot inside Riley’s , you’ll feel like you’ve come home. It’s much more than a greeting; you’ll receive samples to help you pick from the many options.

Riley is one of the most friendly owners around, and he has the knowledge and experience to back it up. The meal will be both huge and delicious. The wet brisket is succulent throughout, with perfect smoke, seasoning, and moistness.

The green beans are magnificent, as is the smoked turkey, which will make you rethink your Thanksgiving plans.

Located at 1326 South Colorado Street, Lockhart.

Open: Wednesday – Monday 11am – 8pm. Closed Tuesday.

Black’s BBQ – Lockhart

Black’s BBQ opened in 1932 and is now serving up some of the best barbecue in the state. The restaurant is best known for its delicious smoked meats, including brisket, ribs, sausage, and turkey.

They also offer catering services for events both large and small. In addition to serving up delicious barbecue, Black’s BBQ is a popular music venue, hosting concerts by local bands throughout the year.

I booked a private tour for a group of about 30 business professionals for an evening around Austin. Everyone loved the tour's four spots. The attention to detail in planning this outing did not go unnoticed, and the willingness to work with our group's demands is greatly appreciated. I would absolutely recommend this tour!

Booked a tour for a Corporate event and got nothing but great reviews Great Service and Skye our hostess was terrific. Highly recommend anyone looking to schedule a night out!

Girls trip to Austin for celebration of birthdays. The food tour was a highlight of the trip, for sure! Fun guides, tasty food and interesting drinks made for a great evening. You’ll be glad you went!

Wonderful tour guide. Went on the Sunday brunch tour. We visited three restaurants, one food truck and one brewery. It was a lot of fun and left very full.

We booked a private tour/corporate event for the top 10 executives. From the time on the bus, to the stops at certain restaurants, to the food/beverage tasting all had a great time. Jill was absolutely amazing and is an incredibly knowledgeable, professional and all around top-notch tour guide. I HIGHLY recommend Austin Eats Food Tours!

Did the BBQ brunch tour on a Saturday morning 10 to 2. Such an awesome tour. Varied food from BBQ to gelato to excellent beers. Everything is included in the price didnt have to spend any extra money. Unless you wanted the large glass of beer instead of the samples. Sky was the best guide, very knowledgable and full of great suggestions for other eating and drinking spots. A highlight of Austin.

  • carra413 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A great day in San Antonio My husband and I ended up being the only ones on the tour and had an unexpected private tour that was a lot of fun! Mike was our guide and he was excellent- very knowledgeable, laid back and great company for the day! He was kind enough to pick us up at our hotel, even though it was a bit outside the designated pick up zone. The van was very comfortable, though I do think it may have felt a bit cramped if the tour was a full 7 people. I also imagine if you had a full tour and were sitting in the back of the van, you may have trouble hearing all the interesting facts shared along the drive. For our day, though, we had no issues! We enjoyed each of the stops (and found it super fun to stop at Buc-ees for an unofficial stop along the drive). Mike knew all the best spots for photos and was happy to take as many as we wanted throughout the day. We took a weekday tour and highly recommend that- we arrived to The Alamo and Riverwalk early in the day and there were hardly any crowds. We love history and did wish we had a little more time at the Alamo. You get a self guided audio tour included but we didn’t really have enough time to get through the whole thing. We didn’t understand all there was to see and spent a little too much time in the church and then rushed through at the end. Would have been perfect to have another 20-30 minutes. We absolutely loved the River Walk/ Cruise- it was beautiful, the tour guide was great, and it was a highlight of the day. We were glad the San Jose Missions were included, as it was a very nice addition to the tour and helped provide more context to the Alamo. We were underwhelmed by the Tower of the Americas, but did get a couple nice photos from the top. We were able to do lunch back on the Riverwalk before heading back to Austin, which was great. In all, it was such a fun day and we were so happy we decided to take this tour. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Austin- it was well worth it! Read more Written October 17, 2023

  • Scott M 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Rip Off is an understatement... To say terrible is not even an adequate word. To say overpriced is also not adequate. Rip off is more accurate. Likely this review won't even get published because somehow this to her only has five star reviews. Unless everyone who took this tour was drunk or stoned there's no possible way anybody gave this a five star review. For starters, the luxurious tour bus was nothing more than a van with leather seats. The tour guide was almost 30 minutes late then after we were picked up, he informed us that he was going to circle back around and pick up the guests who had no show which made him late in the first place. Are you freaking kidding? After all that, we were taken on about a 20 minute tour of Austin which was well interesting not really worth the money. I would have paid $20 bucks gladly but not $95!! The luxurious tour concluded by swinging through the local rundown Rat Hole of a gas station / liquor store for some "alcoholic drinks" ... As long as you don't mind $5 beers from a gas station you can get anything you want, oh yeah and you have to pay for it. Once we arrived at the riverfront, we were boarded a boat with about 50 to 100 other people. So much for a private luxury tour. Also, you will be able to see in my photos that had I purchased to the boat tour by itself the price was only $11. So that means we paid $84 for a half hour tour of Austin in a van that was not as nice as some Ubers. On the plus side, the boat was full of foreigners so if you want cultured experience I guess that's a plus. The sunset was pretty but that's about it. I'm literally writing this review as we're taking out and praying that they provide me a 100% refund. To say this trip is a ripoff is a complete understatement!! Read more Written May 2, 2023

Reckless Kelly headlines Longhorn City Limits presented by Still Austin Whiskey Co. on April 20

Texas Country pioneers and Sentimental Family Band hit the LBJ Lawn prior to the Texas Football Orange-White Game

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Prior to Texas Football hitting the field for the annual Orange-White Game (presented by Texas One Fund) on April 20, Texas Country pioneers Reckless Kelly will headline Longhorn City Limits presented by Still Austin Whiskey.  The FREE gameday concert series, located on the LBJ Lawn, will feature live music starting at 10 a.m. by Austin's own Sentimental Family Band.

From its roots as a barnstorming Idaho outfit to its modern-day status as a

torchbearer for Americana music worldwide, GRAMMY-winning Reckless Kelly is celebrating nearly three decades with the launch of The Last Frontier Tour and an album of the same name out later this year. The band will preview a few of the new songs along with fan favorites in what promises to be a rocking Longhorn City Limits party.

"We are really looking forward to kicking off the Football Orange-White Game with the fans," said Cody Braun.  "Hook 'em Horns!"

"We are so excited to welcome Reckless Kelly back to the Forty Acres," said Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Athletics Director.  "Willy and Cody have long been supporters of our program, and we can't wait for them to entertain Longhorn Nation on the LBJ Lawn before the Spring Game"

Joining Reckless Kelly on the LCL lineup is the Sentimental Family Band.  Named KUTX's Artist of the Month this past March, the band is comprised of songwriters Camille Lewis, Kyle Albrecht, and Matthew Shepherd.  Fusing Bakersfield honky-tonk with western swing, they released their debut album Sweethearts Only in March 2024 featuring singles including "Face to a Name", "Talking to Strangers", and "Never Love Again".

Sentimental Family Band will take the LCL stage at 10 a.m. followed by Reckless Kelly at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Fans ages 21 and up can enjoy signature experiences at Longhorn City Limits including the Still Austin Music Lounge.  Serving up a full menu of refreshments including the Still Austin Horns Up Bourbon Lemonade on ice, the lounge provides relaxation in a shaded area while enjoying the show. Fans won't want to miss surprises and limited-edition swag curated by Still Austin Whiskey Co, the homegrown grain-to-glass craft distillery using 100% Texas grains.

Also returning for the Orange-White Game is the Tito's Tailgate located in front of the LBJ Fountain featuring refreshing Tito's cocktails on tap and shaded views of the stage to tailgate in real Texas fashion.

Concert goers can also enjoy Stubb's BBQ and pregame happy hour pricing featuring select $5 domestic and $6.50 premium beers at Longhorn City Limits.

About Reckless Kelly:

Americana/Red-Dirt band Reckless Kelly has been burning up stages with their high-energy blend of rock and country music since 1996. Fronted by central Idaho natives Willy and Cody Braun, the brothers are part of a rich musical legacy that spans three generations. Twenty-five years ago, Willy and Cody moved to Austin, TX, added drummer Jay Nazz to their core, and formed a band that would change Texas's musical history. An indispensable part of the Texas music scene for almost 3 decades, the GRAMMY Award-winning band has released 17 albums,

They have been named the Outlaw Group of the Year in the 2024 Ameripolitan Awards.

Reckless Kelly has built their annual festival, The Braun Brothers Reunion, into a three-day event held in Challis, Idaho, celebrating 40 years in 2024. The band will kick off the first leg of their 2024 - 2025 The Last Frontier Tour in April. The members are Willy and Cody Braun, drummer Nazz, Joe Miller on bass, and Geoffrey Queen on lead guitar.  www.recklesskelly.com     EPK
