Remember the epic struggles of the Filipino and American soldiers as well as all the civilians who’ve lived and survived the second world war. Product review: novelina professional hair and scalp treatment.

bataan tour package

Here’s a perfect do-it-yourself solution for restoring your hair’s lost moisture due to chemical treatment or everyday styling.

If you are like me who gets my hair treated (at least) every 6 months, you’d need a reliable hair treatment to protect your hair before and after chemical procedures (like hair rebond/ relax/ straightening, hair color, or perm). [READ: Hair rebond plus Brazilian blowout ]

Straightening your hair via hair rebonding would yield better results with Brazilian blowout but of course, you’d need to pay more for the added treatment. On top of this, you need to maintain your hair regularly. At the very least, a good 3-minute miracle conditioner daily will help.

But if your hair is severely damaged (this happens after hair straightening and worsens after the coloring), and you really want to give your hair that repair and rejuvenation it deserves, you need effective treatments.

I know my hair needs it. I am just not sure which effective product to use (by that I mean something cost-effective too).

Good thing, I got the chance to try out Novelina Hair and Scalp treatment. This hair treatment looks promising. It claims to contain “a hydrating blend of emollients that are sure to increase moisture retention in hair”.

What to like about this hair treatment

The container says plenty of good things about this hair and scalp treatment. See the box below.

•  A Japanese formulation

•  Strengthens over-processed hair

•  Has a refreshing clean scent

•  Instantly rejuvenates dry, brittle, or damaged hair

•  Replaces moisture, natural oils and protein lost during chemical treatments

bataan tour package

The label already gives a good impression.

Japanese Formulation . You can’t blame me if I get sold to the part that says it has Japanese formulation. I am convinced by how efficient and effective Japanese products are especially with a formulation that truly comes from the said country. Well, I know there’s not enough time to dig into the formulation, so it is best to just see the results once applied to my hair…

Before I used this product, I have my points for concern: Will it strengthen my overly-processed hair? Will it rejuvenate my dry, brittle, damaged hair?

I was also curious about the scent. But it turned out to be true as indicated. The scent is clean. It is not as calming and appealing as the other product I used several years ago. I forgot the name of the product, it is also from Japan. But maybe it’s a good thing? Maybe it being not so fragrant means there is no additional chemical/ artificial ingredient to affect my hair? IDK.

What happened to my hair

I used Novelina Hair and Scalp treatment after shampoo. I applied it just like how I apply conditioner to my hair only that I let it sit for 10 minutes. I did this every other day. If I am not using this hair treatment, I still use my hair conditioner. I didn’t have the chance to use a heating cap. It didn’t occur to me I need to use it. I wonder if it would be better though…

After 10 days of use, I can say the results are favorable. As expected my hair is soft and looks less dry.

I like the fact that there is not much hair fall every time I rinse. This is usually my problem (and what I fear the most) whenever I try out new hair products. I am starting to like Novelina!

I wanted to test how it would affect my hair strands so I purposely skip combing after every shower. I know it sounds lazy. But luckily, my hair would still be soft and manageable after it dries.

As expected, after hair rebond plus coloring, my hair drastically loses moisture. That said, I need Brazilian blow dry and regular keratin treatment to recover the “shine”. I am glad Novelina offers this solution minus the hassle of going to the salon every time. The product is affordable too!

I had used Monea powerdose treatment before and Novelina seems to yield similar results at almost half the price. Monea is around 500 pesos for 250g. Novelina is around the same price but with 500g.

About Novelina

Novelina, a novel line of hair care and skin care products that will defy age and redefine beauty. Behind the Novelina brand is a guarantee of quality, efficacy, and safety. The special Japanese formulations are the result of extensive research and development that incorporates not only the newest ingredients but the latest technology as well. The uniquely blended ingredients are manufactured under strict quality control procedures resulting in products that offer reasonable/affordable pricing without compromising benefits.

Where to buy this product

Click image to buy the product

bataan tour package

You can also buy it from LAZADA and other super markets.

Novelina is a good treatment for chemically treated hair. I recommend you use it before and after a hair rebond or perm. It surely delivers what is promised on its packaging. It’s affordable too!

Have you tried any Novelina products? What do you think about this hair and scalp treatment? Would you like to try it? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comment section below!

Getting discounts on flights is easier than you think—just use these hacks.

bataan tour package

Millennials as an entire generation love to travel. We want to explore the world beyond the safe cocoon of our friends and families and want to see the unknown and the unexplored. But we also want to travel within a budget. The biggest hurdle when it comes to flights—be it for international travel or domestic travel, is the flight tickets! Flight tickets can often be very expensive which leads to a damper in any plans to fly out to newer places.

However, that can easily be solved with the various online travel deals & offers that are available. One just needs to be smart and savvy while making travel plans. Here are some of the best hacks to help you get discounts on your flights.

1. Search for flight tickets in incognito mode

This is one of the hacks that is super important but is not known to many people. The internet, based on the cookies on your browser can inflate the prices of flights if a certain destination or route is searched for too often from the same browser to motivate you to purchase tickets faster. This does not take place if you buy your flight tickets in the incognito mode. You will also end up getting the cheapest deals for flights in such a case.

2. Use your credit card or debit card points along with your airline miles while purchasing tickets

Using your credit / debit card points or your airlines miles is a great way of saving money while travelling to a new place on a flight. You basically end up saving the entire travel amount and can spend that money on newer experiences while travelling to a hitherto unexplored location. Who knows you might also end up getting better deals from the airlines or your credit card company itself?

3. Look for deals that are being offered by the airlines themselves

Many airlines offer various secret or not-so-secret deals to their customers. The trick is to search and research your travel plans and itinerary properly so as to be able to avail these deals. Many airlines such as Emirates offer discounts on their flights, you only need to apply Emirates Coupon codes to avail these deals. For example, if you want to fly to Dubai, use the Flydubai Promo Codes to avail discount.

4. Book your flights early

The oldest and the most effective trick in the book is to book your flight tickets as early as possible to avoid paying extra. Book your tickets the moment you know where you are going and when. This will help save you a lot of money and you might actually end up getting flights at really discounted rates which would otherwise not be possible if you book a last moment flight. This is one of the best ideas to look at if you are planning a budget trip.

5. Figure out when would be the cheapest time of the year to fly

Figuring out the cheapest time of the year to fly to a certain place along with the cheapest flight and dates is also a very good idea. For example, flight tickets to the beach are generally cheaper when it is not the holiday season because people do not have the time to take a vacation at that point of time. Not only that, but certain days are also cheaper to fly out on compared to other days. For example, flying out on a Friday might end up being more costly than flying out mid-week, say on a Wednesday.

6. Budget air carriers are your best friend!

When it comes to cheap travel by air, budget air carriers are you best bet! You might have to compromise a bit on leg space or free food (which is generally not available in these carriers unlike the premium airlines) but you will definitely end up saving a lot of money on the travel. Flying in economy class is a good idea when it comes to a budget tour. However, make sure you read the fine print, including the luggage allowance and other terms and conditions well before buying a budget flight ticket.

Well, now that you know these handy tricks, and have already started planning for a budget trip to the place of your dreams already, when do you plan on going for your next vacation? Book those tickets already! The sky is your limit.

I have lived most of my life in Metro Manila and every time there is an opportunity to escape the city, Bataan rarely comes to mind. Bataan, dubbed as the country’s historical hub, has been an underrated tourist destination despite the fact that it is only approximately three hours away from Metro Manila by bus. A number of bus companies service this province. Among them are Genesis , Bataan Transit , and Victory Liner .

Bataan is a province located in Central Luzon, a peninsula facing the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea). It is so close to Manila that it actually encloses the Manila Bay. In fact, there is a ferry (via the 1Bataan Integrated Transport System ) that services the Bataan-Manila route. A one-way ferry ride takes only about one hour.

Below are the ferry fares:

  • With bus drop off from Port of Capinpin to Mariveles and Dinalupihan routes
  • Senior Citizen discounts are not applicable
  • With bus drop off points to various bus stations in Bataan
  • Senior Citizen discounts are applicable
  • Tickets may be purchased at the ticket booths located at the Port of Orion, Bataan and SM MOA Esplanade Seaside Terminal, Pasay City

From August 2 to 3, I had the opportunity to discover the richness in history, culture, beauty and resources of Bataan when I got invited to witness the launch of the Behold Bataan Escapade Tour Packages by the Bataan Provincial Tourism Office . Instead of traveling to Bataan by sea, I took a land trip together with the other travel bloggers because of inclement weather. Darn.

We arrived at the Bataan Tourism Center in Balanga City safe and sound. Thanks to the exceptional driving skills (naks!) of Roberto Manabat , more popularly known as Vandolph among his peers at the Bataan Tourism Center. Special thanks to Paula Erika Gayeta for seamlessly arranging everything.

We joined other travel bloggers, members of the media and representatives of the different travel agency associations in Central Luzon.

We were welcomed by the Honorable Governor Alberto S. Garcia himself no less. He briefly shared to us Bataan’s progress as the province having the lowest poverty incidence of 1.16% in the country! Note that the country average is ~22%. During my short visit, I witnessed the people’s enthusiasm to succeed and the provincial government’s dedication to service. There is no doubt that Bataan will be soaring to new heights in business and tourism in the coming years, if not months, to come.

The next stop is in the town of Bagac to pay our respects at the Zero Kilometer Death March Marker and on our way to Bagac we will have a short stop at the Bell Tower – a 27m high tower erected in 1975 to commemorate peace and reconciliation between the Philippines and Japan.

We then stop to reflect at the “ Battle of the Pockets ” marker and the “ Pantingan River Bridge ” where over 400 men executed in cold blood.

Then we head to Mt Samat Shrine , commissioned in 1996 by President Ferdinand Marcos to commemorate the 25th anniversary of World War II, and to remember those who lost their lives at the Battle of Bataan . If the weather is clear we can see the City if Manila and Corregidor Island.

You will be fascinated by the Samat War Museum which has artifacts ranging from pictures and pictures and paintings of Philippine and American heroes to armaments used by the Philippines, US and Japanese troops during the war.

We carry on to the town of Balanga, a short stop at The Flaming Sword Museum , it depicts the gallantry and bravery of the Filipino and American soldiers, it was at this point (K.M.42) that the captured USAFFE soldiers from Mariveles and Bagac converged in the infamous Bataan Death March. We then make a visit to the location where Major General Edward P. King negotiate the terms of surrender to Japanese Lt. Gen. Masaharu Homma on the 9th April 1942.

Visit the Worl War 2 Museum inside the Elementary School of Balanga, The museum houses old photograph of the Philippines during peace time to Luberation, and a huge diorama made up to 120 dolls depicting scenes from the infamous Bataan Death March.

Then to San Fernando Train Station where Filipino and US Prisoners of War where put in box cars measuring 20 Feet by 8 feet, stinking with waste and urine with no air. Then march 6 km to Camp O’ Donnell in Capas Tarlac.

Finally to Camp O’Donel l was the final destination of the Filipino and American soldiers who surrendered after the Battle of Bataan   on April 09, 1942. About 60,000 Filipino and 9,000 Americans were housed at the camp. During the few months in 1942 that Camp O’Donnel was used as POW camp, about 20,000 Filipinos and 1.500 Americans died there of diease, starvation, neglect and brutality.

On the way back to Manila (around 3 hours) you may stop at a cafe on request and purchase a snack, and we aim to drop at your hotel around 6:00 pm depending on Manila traffic condition.

Itinerary may reverse depending on pick-up point, traffic and weather conditions.

Bataan & Pampanga World War II Tourist Spots Shared Day Tour with Transfers from Manila

Book a Bataan & Pampanga day tour

Description

Travel to Bataan and Pampanga and immerse in both provinces' heritage with this seat-in-coach shared tour to their World War II sites. This experience is perfect for history buffs as you will immerse yourself in places important to each province. The tour also includes shared hotel pick-up and drop-off from select cities, transfers to each attraction, and the service of a guide.

Your shared tour will start after your guide fetches you from your accommodation within Manila or Makati City. If you are staying outside of these cities, a surcharge will apply for pick-up and drop-off services. Lunch is not included in the tour, but you can ask your guide for recommendations for the best restaurants nearby that you can eat at in between your visits to the tourist spots.

After your guide fetches you, you will begin the road trip to your first stop, the Layac Junction in Bataan. A large monument stands in the center of the junction, the "First Line of Defense Monument." It depicts and honors the first soldiers who defended the province from the Japanese forces during WWII.

From there, you will travel to the peak of Mt. Samat . Here, you will find one of the province's most notable WWII sites, the Shrine of Valor . The shrine features images of major historical events such as the Battle of Bataan and the execution of the Philippines' national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. You can also enter the museum by the shrine to see artifacts dating to the war and maps of Bataan that show crucial spots during the war.

Next, you will head to the Balanga School House Surrender Site . As its name implies, this is where the Allied Forces officially surrendered to the invading Japanese army. Lastly, you will go to the San Fernando train station in Pampanga before returning to your hotel. This railway station marked the end of the Bataan Death March , which consisted of Filipino and American prisoners of war following the surrender.
