Ben Rector announces “The Old Friends Acoustic Tour”
Article contributed by aeg presents | published on saturday, november 12, 2022.
Indie superstar Ben Rector announces forthcoming tour, “The Old Friends Acoustic Tour” — set to bring intimate, acoustic performances to fourteen cities across the country in spring 2023. Presales will begin on November 15th at 10am local, and tickets will be made publicly available at 10am local on November 18th. For more information and to sign up for presale access, visit BenRectorMusic.com/tour .
The tour will feature Jordy Searcy and Stephen Day who will perform individually as opening acts and together with Rector during the main event. Searcy has also collaborated with Rector as a co-writer on tracks such as the 2021 hit single “It Would Be You” and Rector’s most recent release, “Wonderful World”.
“I am so excited for the Old Friends Acoustic Tour! I started out playing shows in college with just me and a guitar, and I haven't gotten to do a tour like that since then,” the singer-songwriter reflects. “The chance to perform the songs how I wrote them and give a little bit of backstory is something I'm really looking forward to, and getting to do it with friends as talented as Jordy and Stephen is a dream.”
Rector recently sold out the majority of amphitheaters nationwide on his most recent headlining tour, The Joy of Music - A Live Music Event including a sold out show at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville. He masterfully created “chilling, harmonious moments” (Music Row) with the audience as they “drown[ed] in his charisma” (Music Row) and danced joyously to both new and old fan favorites. Since then, Rector has released two original singles, “Wonderful World” and “What Makes A Man” featuring Thomas Rhett, the latter of which he played at his Grand Ole Opry debut in August. Rector invites friends and family to reconnect at a show in one of the cities he will visit with his friends, Searcy and Day.

The old friends acoustic tour starring ben rector, november 3, 2023 | aronoff center - procter & gamble hall.
Ben Rector has amassed more than a billion streams across all platforms and has performed on numerous late-night and morning TV shows including Conan, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel, Live with Kelly and Ryan, and The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. In addition, he has been a celebrity mentor on American Idol alongside Ryan Tedder, Jewel, Brian McKnight, Jason Aldean, and more.
His records have topped numerous Billboard charts, with his last two records landing at #1 on Billboard's US Folk and #2 on Billboard's US Rock and US Indie charts. Rector has built a dedicated touring base, regularly selling out theaters and amphitheaters across the country, including three consecutive nights at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
Fifteen years after starting his career writing songs and touring in his Honda Accord on the weekends, Rector found himself at home and at the piano in March 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The alchemy of life’s big questions, more downtime than he’d had in a decade, and those now all-too-familiar “unprecedented times” resulted in his career album: The Joy of Music. The project includes a breathtaking short film (featuring seven songs brought to life with stunning cinematography), inviting listeners and viewers to visit a dream world that communicates Rector’s creative process and his reckoning with his job as an artist. He is led through the film’s chapters by his new friend Joy, a muppet monster he created with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. In this fantastic and dream-like landscape, we see and hear Rector overcome a deep-seated fear of failure, dancing and singing his way through the journey of rediscovering the joy of music.
