2023 Bermuda Cruises

Bermuda’s pink-sand beaches are waiting to welcome you during our new 2023 season, and we can already taste the rum swizzles. Our stunningly revolutionized Celebrity Summit® will again offer blissful island getaways, with some sailings featuring incredible stops along the way, too—including a new port of call, Martha’s Vineyard.

Our perfectly timed 7-night escapes sail round trip from Cape Liberty, New Jersey throughout June and July. Every sailing gets you up close and personal with the Statue of Liberty on your way to Bermuda, where you’ll have three days and two nights to discover all the island has to offer. Kick back on the world-famous Horseshoe Bay Beach, and snorkel the crystal-clear waters. Soak up the island’s rich British history. Enjoy a night (or two) on the town, exploring the restaurants and bars lining Front Street. As much as Bermuda has to offer, this is just the beginning.

Our 9- and 10-night Bermuda sailings visit more must-see destinations along the East Coast in May. Discover historic Newport, Rhode Island, with spectacular cliffside mansions that will take you back to the Gilded Age. Fall in love with the southern charm of Charleston, South Carolina, with its cobblestone streets and delicious low-country cuisine. Our 10-night sailings give you one or two full nights to explore it. And, new for 2023, we’re visiting Martha’s Vineyard, just south of Cape Cod. This island’s understated glamor has made it an A-list hot spot for decades, offering great beaches, classic New England lighthouses, and fresh seafood. All these 2023 escapes are now open for booking, so plan yours today.

Shaped by British, Portuguese, West Indian, and African cultures, Bermuda is fringed by teeming coral reefs and the almost impossibly turquoise waters of the Sargasso Sea, due east of South Carolina. This sub-tropical paradise, which blends history with a contemporary and very inviting way of life, is an easy escape from the East Coast. But the island is still a world apart—and a luxury cruise to Bermuda is the perfect way to enjoy this exclusive destination.

Days drift by in a delightful blend of scuba diving, golfing, exploring art galleries and historic fortifications, or simply relaxing on exquisite pink sand beaches. Let Celebrity show you Bermuda’s many charms, with blissful days at sea to unwind on either side of your time on this fascinating island.

Featured Highlights

Pink beaches.

Bermuda’s beaches are famous not just for their beauty but for their blush-pink sand, caused by the presence of tiny, ground up shells. Horseshoe Bay Beach is the most famous, with clear, teal-blue water and tumbled rocks. Warwick Long Bay is adorned with rock outcrops and has pretty tide pools to explore. Elbow Beach is the place to head for a livelier scene, with bars, restaurants, and watersports facilities, as well as a shallow reef, teeming with fish.

Scuba Diving

Bermuda’s coral reefs and rocks have claimed more than 300 wrecks over time, making this one of the world’s top dive sites. Warm, glass-clear water and the fact that many of the wrecks lie in as little as 30 feet of water make Bermuda a dream for novice divers, too. What’s more, the underwater life is spectacular. You should see blue angelfish, parrotfish, spiny lobster, silvery jacks, wrasse, and graceful eagle rays, as well as coral in brilliant colors.

Colorful History

Step back in time in the National Museum of Bermuda in the Royal Naval Dockyard to learn about 400 years of the island’s history, from antique maps and cannons to treasures rescued from shipwrecks. Learn about the island’s role in both World Wars, and the darker days of the slave trade. UNESCO-protected St. George’s, too, is a fascinating insight into the past, with colorful old buildings and cobblestone streets to explore, as well as the 17th century St. Peter’s Church.

Things To Do in Martha's Vineyard

Top bermuda faqs.

What are the best things to do in Bermuda on a cruise?

From naval history to pretty country villages, hiking trails, and pink sand beaches, there are endless things to do during your time in Bermuda. Our itineraries spend two nights docked here, so you’ll have plenty of time to explore.

One of the best things to do is to snorkel over the coral reefs and multiple wrecks that surround the island. There are some fascinating museums, too; the National Museum of Bermuda, located in a fort at the Royal Naval Dockyard, takes you through 400 years of history. Historic St. George’s is a UNESCO World Heritage Site just 45 minutes from the port by ferry, with narrow cobblestone lanes, colorful old homes, and quaint churches.

If you’re an active traveler, there’s all manner of watersports to try, as well as world-class golf, and cycling or hiking the historic 18-mile Railway Trail. Explore the Crystal and Fantasy Caves, where you’ll see dramatic stalagmites and stalactites and a shimmering underground lake.

There’s also excellent craft shopping in Bermuda, much of it within Royal Naval Dockyard.

Look out for rum, rum cake, spicy pepper sauces, ceramics, linen, locally made fragrances, cedarwood items, and the famous Bermuda shorts.

When is the best time to cruise to Bermuda?

Bermuda’s peak season is from May to October, with July and August the warmest and sunniest months. May has the lowest rainfall. Just outside of the high season, you should still enjoy pleasant weather. Months with lower humidity, particularly April, make exploring easy.

What should I pack?

Depending on the time of year you’ve chosen, pack for a subtropical climate. Bring plenty of beachwear, a sun hat, sunglasses, coverups, water shoes (if you’re visiting coral beaches), and reef-friendly sunblock.

A light waterproof jacket is handy for the occasional rain showers. Consider bringing comfortable walking shoes; Bermuda is a very walkable place with some wonderful hikes.

If you intend to play golf, check the dress code of the courses you want to play. A collared shirt with sleeves and shorts the length of Bermuda shorts is standard.

Throughout the ship, casual resort wear, sundresses, shorts, polos, or button-downs are appropriate, paired with sandals, low heels, and loafers. In main and specialty dining, we ask guests to refrain from wearing swimsuits, see-through coverups or robes, bare feet, tank tops, T-shirts, and baseball caps.

Smart Casual attire is required for entry to main dining, specialty dining, and the Celebrity Theatre. Smart Casual means you look comfortable yet tasteful in a dress, skirt, long pants, or jeans with a stylish top or button-down. Shorts and flip-flops are not considered Smart Casual.

Each itinerary features one to two more “formal” nights that we call Evening Chic. Evening Chic means you dress to impress, glamorous and sophisticated in your own way, with a cocktail dress, skirt, slacks, or designer jeans, an elegant dress top, or blazer—some guests even pack a tuxedo or gown for onboard photos.

The daily program, delivered to your stateroom and available at the Guest Relations Desk, will be your guide to the correct attire each evening. If you do not wish to participate in Evening Chic, Smart Casual attire is acceptable for dining and attending the theater.

What travel documents are required?

Round-trip cruises from Cape Liberty to Bermuda are known as “closed-loop cruises” for which U.S. citizens do not require a passport.

According to U.S. Customs & Border Protection, acceptable forms of identity include an Enhanced Driver’s License, which is a state-issued driver’s license that provides proof of identity and U.S. citizenship; a government-issued birth certificate (issued by the Vital Records Department in the state where the person was born) or passport; and if 16 or older, a government-issued driver’s license or picture ID denoting photo, name, and date of birth.

For transatlantic cruises that call at Bermuda, all visitors will need a valid passport.

Where do cruises depart from?

Our Bermuda cruises depart from Cape Liberty, New Jersey. Bermuda is also a stop on several of our transatlantic cruises, which depart from Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Barcelona, and Lisbon.

How long does it take to get to Bermuda?

The sailing time between Cape Liberty and Bermuda’s Royal Naval Dockyard is two days, during which you’ll have plenty of opportunity to relax and enjoy the many amenities of the ship. On the return journey, you’ll have one day and two nights at sea.

On a westbound Transatlantic cruise, you’ll have four days at sea between the Azores and Bermuda. On an eastbound voyage, you’ll leave Tampa and arrive in Bermuda after three days at sea. If you depart from Fort Lauderdale, there will be two days at sea before reaching the island.

What’s the weather like?

Bermuda is located in the Atlantic Ocean, a long way north of the Caribbean, and enjoys a temperate, subtropical climate. In other words, you can expect summers to be warm and sunny, with temperatures around the mid-80s, and high humidity.

May to October is considered the high season, with April and November bringing slightly cooler but still pleasant weather. Expect average highs of 68°F in April and 72°F in November.

What currency is used in Bermuda?

Bermuda’s currency is the Bermuda Dollar, which is tied to the U.S. Dollar. You can use U.S. dollars in most places on the island, although you may be given change in Bermuda dollars.

Where can I see pink sand beaches?

Horseshoe Bay Beach is one of the most beautiful pink sand beaches, where rocky outcrops fringe the sweep of pink and there are umbrellas and beach chairs available to rent. Warwick Long Bay, one of the longest beaches, has pale pink sand and great snorkeling close to the shore. Tiny Jobson’s Cove, nearby, is almost entirely hemmed in by rocks and is safe for swimming in the turquoise shallows.

Also nearby is Stonehole Bay, a beautiful combination of pale pink sand, cyan water, and craggy rocks. Elbow Beach, another popular spot, curves around the coast for nearly a mile, and is protected by coral reefs.

While 3-day cruises from California or 3-day cruises from San Diego might not allow you enough time for a relaxed cruise experience, there are plenty of other options to choose from, such as a 3-day cruise from NYC to Bermuda, 5-day cruise from Florida or a 7-day cruise.

How can I find a cheap Bermuda cruise?

One of the best ways to find a cheap 3-day all-inclusive or 5-day cruise for 2024 is to book a cruise in the off-peak season as far in advance as possible. Booking your Bermuda cruise in 2025 will allow you to search through many more options and select better deals for your cruise tickets to Bermuda. Even if you’re down to the wire and taking a last-minute trip, however, you can sort your Expedia options by price to choose the best available options for cheap cruises to Bermuda, such as 7-day cruise deals. Keep an eye out for the green text in the search results that indicates a discount.

What cruise lines go to Bermuda?

A few of the best cruise lines to Bermuda include MSC Cruises and Royal Caribbean International . Other wonderful options can be found on such cruise lines as Disney , Norwegian , Oceana, Carnival , Silversea, and Celebrity Bermuda cruises. Your options for a cruise trip to Bermuda through Expedia include a wide range of cruise lines and include 3-day or 4-day cruises to Bermuda through to 5-day cruises in 2024 to Bermuda. You can find trips ranging from the inexpensive to those with full luxury amenities and beyond, and from a quick 3-day cruise or 5-day cruise from Florida to Bermuda to a longer cruise from New York to Bermuda or a 5-day cruise from Boston to Bermuda.

How can I find good deals on cruises to Bermuda?

Bermuda cruise prices can vary based on a range of factors, for instance, whether you want a 5-day cruise or a 4-day cruise, but on Expedia, you can filter almost every aspect of your trip, whether by the length of the cruise, such as a 7-day cruise or a 3-day cruise, the departure date, the luxury amenities you desire, or the itinerary of your trip. Keep in mind that booking in advance for a cruise in the off-peak season can help you find a deal. If, for example, you want to take a Carnival Bermuda trip with a buffet meal, you can simply enter your dates of departure, the number of passengers, and your destination. When the list comes up, you will be able to filter by cruise line, then check the itinerary and features of every ship. Each offer includes a green box that shows how much you save with that specific package. With Expedia, you have absolute control.

What to look out for when you book your Bermuda cruise?

Every cruise to Bermuda from the US is unique, and the first thing to check is your itinerary to be sure that it will dock at least overnight on the island. Most options you will find will be at least a 4-day cruise to Bermuda or a 5-day cruise to Bermuda, but they may not spend all that time on the island itself. It is also recommended to check for cruises from Boston to Bermuda or cruises from New York City to Bermuda as these routes can be less expensive than cruises that depart from other ports. Even then you may not have enough time to explore the entire island, 3- or 4-day cruises to Bermuda are better than just a few hours. When you do reach the island, get to know the public transportation system, which is fantastic.

Where are the best places to go on a cruise to Bermuda?

Bermuda cruise destinations offer a world of experiences, such as the gorgeous white-sand beaches at Horseshoe Bay, diving and snorkeling among living coral reefs and historic shipwrecks like the Mary Celeste, and the bustling and thriving port of Hamilton with shopping and dining along Front Street. A St. George's cruise opens up a thriving historic town with museums, narrow lanes, the historic Fort St. Catherine, and delicious local food. Look for cruises that include a stop at the Royal Naval Dockyard, Bermuda, or Kings Wharf, Bermuda, as these ports are popular among tourists and offer many activities. The astonishing Crystal Caves were even mentioned by Mark Twain.

When is the best time to go on a cruise to Bermuda?

The prime season for a boat cruise to Bermuda is between spring and late fall with the peak season ranging from June through August. Bermuda does not have a specific rainy season, but in October you will see the most precipitation, and during the summer, temperatures are much hotter and more humid. Crowds can be larger during the peak months, so travel in April, May, September, or October, and you may find better deals and fewer people. Alternatively, if you're looking to save money, booking off-peak season your 2024 4-day cruise from Florida, for example, can help you find an interesting deal.

How long does it take to go to Bermuda by cruise ship?

Enter your destination and dates for travel in the search bar, and make sure to sort the search results by duration–either by shortest trip such as a 4-day cruise or longest trip. The shortest cruises that go to Bermuda generally take 4 days round-trip, such as cruises from New York to Bermuda. These cruises are at sea for a full day from New York to Bermuda, and another day at sea to get back to New York. You can even book a 14-day cruise to Bermuda from New York if you really want to soak up everything Bermuda has to offer.

What are some great luxury cruises to Bermuda?

The Viking Bermuda cruise is one of the best options, offering a 7-day cruise to Bermuda that includes exciting excursions such as snorkeling, a glass-bottom boat tour, and a visit to the Royal Naval Dockyard. Royal Caribbean Bermuda cruises are also a great option. These cruises typically include stops at both King's Wharf and Heritage Wharf in Bermuda and offer a wide range of shore excursions and activities. Other luxury cruise options include a Carnival cruise to Bermuda from ports like New York or Baltimore. For those looking for luxury cruises to Bermuda from Charleston , cruises from Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, and Royal Caribbean are also available.

What are some good all-inclusive cruises to Bermuda?

Royal Caribbean International cruises , Celebrity cruises to Bermuda, and Norwegian cruises to Bermuda offer a wide range of all-inclusive features such as onboard entertainment, 24-hour room service, spa facilities and youth packages, to name a few. To check if the cruise line has the all-inclusive features you want, simply click on the trip offerings that interest you and explore the cabin experience and "what's included" sections of the trip. All-inclusive cruises to Bermuda can be found even at the discount level and offer all the elements you need for a carefree travel experience, including a private room, meal service, free Wi-Fi, entertainment, and other amenities. An all-inclusive cruise to Bermuda is a great way to travel without worrying about needing to make a plan every day.

How to book a cruise to Bermuda on Expedia?

Searching for a cruise to Bermuda is a breeze, requiring only that you enter your date of departure, destination, and number of travelers, then filtering the results as you like. Our preselected offers can save you even more time by packaging the most popular elements together for you. To customize, simply enter filters to narrow your search results based on cruise lines, specific ships such as the Liberty of the Seas from Royal Caribbean , amenities, and other desires, such as making port at King's Wharf. You can then view everything in a package right down to the itinerary before booking. Be sure to keep an eye out for the green text that indicates a deal in the search results.

Do you need a passport to cruise to Bermuda?

Travel to Bermuda normally requires a passport. However, if you’re on a closed-loop cruise to Bermuda, US citizens do not require passports. So long as your cruise to Bermuda departs from the United States and ends back there, for instance with a 7-day cruise, you may carry a state ID such as a driver's license and a birth certificate in lieu of your passport. It is, however, always best practice to keep your passport with you when traveling to another country in case of unexpected occurrences.

Can I cancel my cruise booking to Bermuda?

Canceling your booking through Expedia is as simple as visiting the My Trips hub on our site or reaching out to our expert customer support team. While canceling is easy, however, check with your cruise line before you do, as many cruise lines only offer partial refunds, may not offer refunds at all, or may charge a cancellation fee. Checking first can save you from a potentially unpleasant surprise. Remember also that the further in advance you cancel, the larger your refund is likely to be.

Why should I book a cruise to Bermuda with Expedia?

The best reason to book an ocean cruise to Bermuda in 2024 with Expedia is the simple process combined with unmatched options. When you book through Expedia, you can customize everything from your cruise line to the specific ship you want, the type of room you desire, and the amenities onboard the ship and the length your desire, whether it is a 7-day or 5-day cruise. You can add filters to narrow your search and compare the options that look the best. If you're looking to save money, keep an eye out for the green text that indicates discounts in the search results. No matter what your budget is, visiting places like Horseshoe Bay, Hamilton, and St. George's on your cruise to Bermuda is simple when you book through Expedia.

Bermuda Cruises

Bermuda is a cruising destination filled with luxuries and tropical delights.

Get away from the stresses of everyday life with a Bermuda vacation filled with long days on the beach, nights full of laughter and revelry, and some of the finest links in the golfing world. You can explore the Crystal Caves, limestone caves that will knock your socks off, or enjoy a day in the diverse Bermuda Aquarium. Botanical gardens, scuba adventures and afternoon tea; you can make your cruises to Bermuda as relaxing or active as you please. Happiness awaits.

Things to Do on a Cruise to Bermuda

Posh and polished Bermuda is different from most other island nations, due to its stately demeanor. Bermuda is the oldest continually populated British settlement in the world. It also is known for having more golf courses per acre than any other place on Earth, and of course the famous Bermuda shorts! Highlighted below are some of our favorite things to do when cruising to Bermuda:

Bermuda golf course

  • Practice your swing. The island is known for having some of the world’s best golf courses, used for professional tournaments where famous golfers like Adam Scott, Bubba Watson and Tiger Woods have teed off.
  • St. George retains the charm of its earliest days in the 1600s. Many of the buildings are original, including the Old Rectory and the Old State House. You may even happen upon a costumed actor to tell you about life in early Bermuda.

Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermuda

  • Spend a day at the famous Horseshoe Bay Beach. This beach has a lifeguard on duty all summer long and is surrounded by turquoise and cerulean waters.
  • Though no longer a military dockyard, the Royal Naval Dockyard is filled with amusements. This complex is a great spot to do some shopping for some of Bermuda’s local art. You’ll find local artisans selling their wares, rent a boat, or a snorkel in the water park.

Crystal Caves in Bermuda

  • Go underground to see the Crystal and Fantasy Caves in Bermuda. These massive underground caves were discovered by two young cricket players 1907.
  • Visit the oldest Anglican Church in continuous use, St. Peters, which was built in 1620. Inside you’ll find an altar carved in 1615 by Bermuda’s first governor and a throne that is believed to have been salvaged from a shipwreck.

Here's when you need (and don't need) a passport to cruise.

It's the type of sailing – closed-loop or open-loop – that largely determines whether or not you need a passport to cruise.

Do You Need a Passport for a Cruise?

Passports on a map showing cruise lanes.

Getty Images

A passport isn't always required for cruising.

To determine whether or not you need a passport to cruise, you first need to figure out if the itinerary is closed-loop or open-loop (also known as open-jaw).

Closed-loop cruise: A closed-loop cruise typically doesn't require a passport since it begins and ends in the same U.S. port (though there are some exceptions to this rule).

Example: Royal Caribbean International 's seven-night Western Caribbean & Perfect Day cruise stops in several countries – the Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti and Grand Cayman – but the itinerary is considered closed-loop because it starts and ends in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Open-loop cruise: An open-loop cruise begins in one U.S. port and ends in a different U.S. port.

Example: Carnival Cruise Line 's 16-day Panama Canal from Seattle itinerary is not considered closed-loop because it departs from Seattle and completes its journey in New Orleans.

All of the above regulations have been determined by the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative: a plan by the departments of State and Homeland Security that determines which documents are acceptable for proving identity and citizenship when entering the United States.

Where to cruise without a passport

There are several destinations where you can cruise without a passport on a closed-loop sailing. They include the following:

  • The Bahamas

When looking at cruises to these locations, be mindful of the home ports. The Bahamas, Mexico, Bermuda, the Caribbean and Canada are all foreign ports, which means they only qualify for the passport exception if they are a stop along your cruise itinerary . If the cruise originates in any of these countries, it is likely you will need a passport.

Since Alaska, Hawaii and New England are all U.S. destinations, any closed-loop routes departing from these locations will not require a passport. However, keep in mind that it can be hard to find closed-loop cruises originating in Hawaii or Alaska.

To find closed-loop itineraries for a Hawaiian voyage or Alaskan cruise , try searching for sailings departing from major cities on the West Coast, like Seattle or Los Angeles . By contrast, quite a few closed-loop cruises leave from New England ports, but they are often marketed as Canadian cruises.

When you need a passport for closed-loop cruises

Some cruise itineraries include foreign ports that require a passport for disembarkation. This is most commonly an issue for travelers on a closed-loop Caribbean cruise. Barbados , Guadeloupe , Haiti, Martinique , St. Barts , and Trinidad and Tobago all require U.S. citizens to present a valid passport to disembark and enter the country, despite WHTI regulations not requiring a passport for these destinations. Labadee, Royal Caribbean's private island , is an exception and does not require a passport despite its location in Haiti.

If your itinerary includes a country requiring a U.S. passport, your cruise line will require you to have the passport at check-in. Note that your passport must not expire within six months of your arrival in a foreign country or else it won't be considered valid for international travel.

Read: The Easiest Way to Renew Your Passport

Acceptable forms of ID

All travelers – U.S. citizens and foreign nationals alike – must present documents that show identity and citizenship when entering the United States. A U.S. passport can show both. If you don't have one or don't want to bring one, be aware that you may need to present more than one document.

U.S. citizens 16 and older

If you're a U.S. citizen age 16 or older sailing on a closed-loop cruise without your passport, you will need a government-issued photo ID like a driver's license. In addition, you must present a document that proves your U.S. citizenship. These include:

  • Passport card
  • State-issued enhanced driver's license (EDL)
  • Government-issued birth certificate
  • Trusted Traveler Program card (NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST)
  • American Indian Card (Form I-872) or Enhanced Tribal ID Card

The Trusted Traveler Programs are risk-based programs to facilitate the entry of travelers who have been vetted and preapproved. Most of these programs will provide you with a machine-readable card that allows you to pass through border checkpoints quickly. Keep in mind, some of these IDs are only available to travelers 16 and older.

Read: TSA Precheck vs. Global Entry

U.S. citizens younger than 16

U.S. citizens younger than 16 are only required to present proof of citizenship, such as one of the following documents:

  • Original, notarized or certified copy of their government-issued birth certificate
  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad issued by U.S. Department of State
  • Certificate of Naturalization issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

Read: How to Get a Passport for Kids

Non-U.S. citizens

If you are a lawful permanent resident (or LPR) of the United States, you are required to present a permanent resident card or other valid evidence of permanent residence status.

Non-U.S. citizens, with the exception of Canadians and Mexicans, are not subject to passport exceptions, so a valid passport will need to be provided. Canadian citizens can present a valid passport, Enhanced Driver's License or Trusted Traveler Program card. Mexican citizens must present a passport with a visa or a Border Crossing Card.

Unacceptable forms of ID

While most common forms of identification are accepted, there are a few exceptions. U.S. military identification cards and U.S. Merchant Mariner documents are valid forms of identification, but only when traveling on official orders or in conjunction with official maritime business, so it is unlikely they will be accepted when traveling on a cruise.

Here are some other documents that will not be accepted as proof of citizenship:

  • Voter registration cards
  • Social Security cards
  • Baptismal papers
  • Hospital certificates of birth (for anyone older than a newborn)

It is important to note that many of the permitted forms of identification, such as a passport card or EDL, are only accepted at land and sea border crossings. Unforeseen circumstances, such as a medical air evacuation, may cause you to return to the U.S. by air travel. In this case, these documents won't be accepted when you try to reenter at the border crossing.

To avoid extra delays in your return to the U.S. following unforeseen travel complications, the Department of State recommends that everyone taking a cruise from the United States carry a valid passport book in case of emergency.

Elizabeth Rhodes/Travel + Leisure

For the first time, we’re spotlighting new cruise ships on Travel + Leisure ’s It List, as these exceptional vessels become more and more like floating resorts — celebrity chefs, crystal chandeliers, and Rolex boutiques included.

Explora Journeys’ Explora I

Paul Brady/Travel + Leisure

It’s not every day a new cruise line arrives. The debut of the remarkable Explora I was a moment years in the making for Explora Journeys , the upstart luxury operator that aims to bring a European sensibility to the world of vacations at sea. So far, the project is a smashing success, thanks to the ship’s low-key vibe, standout food and beverage, and intriguing itineraries that visit in-demand ports in Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean. My own August 2023 trip on Explora I , from Copenhagen to Hamburg, Germany, included fulfilling visits to places such as Oslo and the town of Stavanger, Norway, a gateway to adventurous hiking with a postcard-perfect Old Town. The ship itself was also a destination, with its abundance of outdoor space — including an alfresco fitness center — and pools at seemingly every turn. The 461 suites, all of them with balconies, are filled with luxurious touches such as Frette linens and robes, heated marble floors, and Dyson hair dryers. But Explora I truly shines when it comes to food: During the week I was aboard, it was impossible to find a bad meal — and I was often astonished at the quality of, in particular, the pasta served in the Emporium Marketplace and the sushi on offer at Sakura, two of the nine restaurants aboard. The most ambitious of them all is Anthology, a rotating-chef concept that has seen a residency from seafood whiz Mario Ulaissi, known for his Michelin three-starred restaurant on Italy's Adriatic coast, and that recently welcomed Emma Bengtsson, from Aquavit , in New York City. Much has been made of Explora I ’s Rolex boutique — the first on any cruise ship — but for my money, the other shops on board were more interesting: The company has tapped family-owned businesses around the world to create capsule collections of resort wear, handbags, fragrances, sunglasses, and beautiful gifts that can’t be found elsewhere. From $2,050 per person for a six-day sailing. Accessible ship. — Paul Brady

Oceania Cruises’ Vista

Nick Tortajada/Courtesy of Oceania Cruises

The new Oceania Vista is in a class of its own; no really, it’s the first in Oceania Cruises ’ new Allura class. Of its 11 bars and restaurants, three are entirely new to the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings–owned brand — including a high-end cocktail spot called Founders’ Bar, serving 26 intricate drinks that use house-made syrups and top-shelf booze like Whistle Pig and parsley-infused Grey Goose. As Oceania levels up, the cruise line has produced a ship that feels more like a floating resort than the vessels that came before. There’s pickleball; a health-conscious restaurant, Aquamar, serving made-to-order salads and pressed juices; and a coffee shop that looks like one in walking distance of my home in L.A. (marble counters, gold accents, leather bar stools) and pulls an espresso shot of similar quality. Vista has more suites than others in the Oceania fleet, too: There are 14 Oceania Suites (up to 1,200 square feet); eight Vista Suites (up to 1,850 square feet); and three Owner’s Suites with Ralph Lauren Home decor and two massive terraces (2,400 square feet). But the most hotel-like touch? A celebrity chef–driven restaurant, Toscana, where Giada De Laurentiis — the ship’s godmother — supplied two recipes for the menu. As someone who watched a lot of Everyday Italian in the early aughts, I was particularly excited to try her signature, Capri-inspired lemon spaghetti, and lemon-cream sauce with grilled shrimp and capers didn’t disappoint. From $2,499 per person for a seven-night sailing. Accessible ship. — Maya Kachroo-Levine

Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Grandeur

Courtesy of Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ sixth ship, the Seven Seas Grandeur , sailed its inaugural season in December, joining sibling ships Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor as the newest member of the luxury fleet. The cruise line is a favorite among T+L readers for its gorgeous ships and all-inclusive pricing that covers unlimited shore excursions, dining at specialty restaurants, and even round-trip airfare. Grandeur lives up to its name thanks to stunning, art-filled spaces designed by cruise ship interior experts Studio Dado: signature restaurant Compass Rose is enchanting with interiors inspired by a fairy-tale forest; the Observation Lounge sparkles with an undulating chandelier and swanky bar; and the $11,000-per-night Regent Suite has a private en suite spa and custom Treesse mini pool. As I boarded Grandeur for the ship’s inaugural sailing, I was mesmerized by the grand staircase and glittering chandelier. And with a maximum capacity of 744 guests, I found it easy to take time to myself in the myriad of quiet spots tucked throughout the ship, whether in the Serene Spa and Wellness area, in the Library, or on the Sports Deck overlooking the ocean. Seven restaurants include specialty steakhouse Prime 7, pan-Asian restaurant Pacific Rim, and breakfast and lunch buffet La Veranda, which refines the cruise buffet experience with daily specials like paella and sushi. Several bars and lounges, a pool and hot tubs, a casino, Broadway-style productions, and cooking classes at the Culinary Arts Kitchen make the ship a destination in itself, though guests will want to take advantage of those included excursions on Caribbean, Central American, North American, and European itineraries, ranging from seven to 16 nights, during the ship’s 2024 season. From $4,669 per person for a seven-night sailing. Accessible ship. — Elizabeth Rhodes

Silversea’s Silver Nova

Courtesy of Silversea Cruises

Carrying 728 passengers, Silver Nova is big for the luxury sector, but boasts a hugely important metric: a capacious passenger space ratio — that is, the number of guests relative to the size of the ship. Simply put, this ship offers more elbow room per passenger than almost any other cruise vessel. Silver Nova is wrapped in glass, with an asymmetrical layout; the funnel is positioned off-center, so is the pool, offering an expansive, uncluttered pool deck. Many features of the brand-new ship recall previous Silversea successes, my favorite of which is the S.A.L.T. (Sea And Land Taste) program, expanded for Silver Nova . S.A.L.T. perks include a gorgeous, sea-facing lab for hands-on culinary lessons (at no additional cost), plus a new concept, the Chef’s Table, where an 11-course menu is prepared for just 24 diners. All facets of the S.A.L.T. ecosystem, including ingredients, a bar, lectures, and shore excursions, are keyed to the region Nova is sailing. While food is a drawing card for Silver Nova , accommodations also received a revamp. Tied to the theme of bringing the outside in, there are brilliant new suites found in the aft starboard corner of the ship, with wraparound balconies revealing a 270-degree view.  This is where you can tuck me in when I win the lottery and head off on a world cruise. But until then, Silver Nova will summer in Alaska and spend northern hemisphere winters in Australia and New Zealand, places where top-deck views should prove ceaselessly rewarding. From $3,250 per person for a seven-night sailing. Accessible ship. — David Swanson

I'm working in F&B for 40 years and I was very impressed with the service and professional service from Yogi.My experience was very good from the first day we meet Yogi for all my reservations for the 5 days dinning in the Specialty restaurants. We have been on 8-10 cruises different cruise lines. When we arrived in New York we were never informed that the itinerary had been changed. We were supposed to be in Bermuda for 2.5 days, instead we went to Port Canaveral and the Bahamas. We were told that the itinerary was changed due to bad weather in Bermuda, well the bad weather was actually in both Port Canaveral and the Bahamas as the front ... Read More

The cruise was supposed to go to Bermuda. I get it. Itinerary can change, but we found out at check in. They claim due to weather. Weather was bad going to the boring alternative of Port Canaveral and Nassau. Service was terrible. Staff was rude and inattentive. Food was mediocre. MDR was the worst service and food was cold. We chose the cruise to go to bermuda for 3 days as other cruises spend shorter time there. We were hesitant of MSC before going and should have listened. Cruise operator Viking targets $11 billion valuation as IPO market stays hot

Viking is set to trade on the New York Stock Exchange as VIK.

Viking Holdings, the European cruise line operator, is seeking to raise more than $1 billion in a public offering next week that could become the second-biggest IPO of 2024.

Viking is scheduled to price on April 30 and trade the next day, a person familiar with the deal told Fortune . The Pembroke, Bermuda–based company plans to sell 44 million shares at $21 to $25 each, according to a regulatory filing dated April 22. Viking will be offering 11 million shares with the remainder coming from shareholders, according to a statement . BofA Securities and JPMorgan are lead underwriters on the deal, which could end up valuing Viking—slated to trade under VIK on the New York Stock Exchange—at almost $11 billion.

Torstein Hagen, Viking’s chairman and CEO, founded the company in 1997. It has a fleet of 92 vessels that travel to all seven continents, including special expeditions to Antarctica and to the Arctic North.

“Looking toward the future, we believe there are a number of opportunities for growing Viking,” Hagen wrote in a letter accompanying the filing. “We have 24 new ships on order, with options for 12 more. We have also started to enter new markets, such as China and elsewhere in Asia, where we see significant growth potential over the long term.”

Revenue for Viking rose 48% to $4.7 billion in 2023. The company was profitable in 2022 but posted $1.86 billion in losses last year, and it’s highly leveraged, reporting $5.4 billion in total debt as of Dec. 31.

“We have substantial indebtedness and we may not be able to generate sufficient cash to service all of our indebtedness or to obtain additional financing if necessary,” Viking said in the regulatory filing.

The company is also backed by private equity. Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and TPG likely will each have nearly 5% of the firm’s voting power after the IPO.

The IPO market is bouncing back. Last week, Ibotta rose 17% during its first day of trading after pricing at $88. Rubrik, a Microsoft-backed cloud data security provider, is scheduled to list shares on Thursday and could raise as much as $713 million . Also on Thursday, Marex Group, a U.K.-based financial services platform, is expected to trade, according to IPOScoop.com.

The year’s biggest IPO still belongs to Amer Sport, the maker of Wilson tennis racquets, which raised $1.37 billion in February, according to data from Dealogic. Viking, if it prices at the top of its range, could raise as much as $1.1 billion.
