MTB-Tour Gaistalalm & Rotmoosalm

Diese MTB-Tour führt durch das schönen Gaistal entlang der Leutascher Ache zur Gaistalalm und weiter zur Rotmoosalm auf 2.030 Metern. Während sich die Fahrt durch das Gaistal eher gemütlich gestaltet, müssen auf der Strecke zur Rotmoosalm unterhalb des Predigtstuhls einige Höhenmeter über teils sehr grobe Schotterwege überwunden werden. Oben, am Fuße des Schönbergs, angekommen, lässt sich die unberührte Natur schließlich entspannt genießen.

Streckenbeschreibung

Ausgangspunkt ist der Parkplatz Salzbach in der Leutaschklamm. Links über die Brücke und dann immer leicht ansteigend über den Forstweg entlang der Leutascher Ache ins Gaistal radeln. Auf der Route 553 rechts halten und nach rund sieben Kilometern rechts in Richtung Gaistalalm abbiegen. Die Alm liegt auf 1.366 Metern. Zur Rotmoosalm führt der Weg weiter Richtung Norden und schließlich unterhalb des Predigtstuhls stets ansteigend in nordöstliche Richtung. Nach mehreren Kehren im Waldgebiet, vorbei an der alten Rotmoosalm,  erstrecken sich auf etwa 1.850 Metern Höhe bereits die ersten Almwiesen der Rotmoosalm. Dort den Leitenbach überqueren und etwa 1,5 Kilometer Richtung Osten bis zur Rotmoosalm auf 2.030 Meter unterhalb des Schönberg-Gipfels radeln.

Der Rückweg erfolgt auf derselben Strecke.

Mountain Bike Ride Gaistalalm & Rotmoosalm

This mountain bike ride leads through the beautiful Gaistal Valley, along the banks of the Leutascher Ache river, to the Gaistalalm hut and on to the Rotmoosalm hut at 2,030 metres above sea level. While the section through the Gaistal Valley is relatively easy, the climb to the Rotmoosalm hut, situated at the foot of the Predigtstuhl mountain, is challenging due to its steepness and rough surface. The reward for all that hard work comes in the form of fine views and an untouched natural landscape.

Trail description

The ride begins at the Salzbach car park in Leutasch. Turn left over the bridge and then ride along the gently ascending forest trail parallel to the Leutascher Ache into the Gaistal Valley. Stay right on route 553 and, after around seven kilometres, turn right towards "Gaistalalm". This hut is located at 1,366 metres above sea level. To get to the Rotmoosalm hut, follow the trail north. At the foot of the Predigtstuhl mountain continue uphill in a northeasterly direction. After several switchback corners in the forest, head past the old building previosuly home to the Rotmoosalm and you will soon find yourself entering the open pastures around the new Rotmoosalm at 1,850 metres. Cross over the Leitenbach stream and, after around 1.5 kilometres, head east to the Rotmoosalm hut itself at 2,030 metres above sea level. High above stands the mighty summit of the Schönberg mountain.

Return along the way you came.

Über die Autobahn A95 fahren wir nach Garmisch-Partenkirchen und entlang der Bundesstraße B2 anschließend bis nach Mittenwald. Auf der Umgehungsstraße geht es in südlicher Richtung weiter bis zur Abfahrt Mittenwald/Leutasch. Nach der Ausfahrt biegen wir rechts ab und fahren etwa einen halben Kilometer später unmittelbar nach Links in Richtung Leutasch. Einer schmalen Passstraße folgen wir nach Unterkirchen und über die Leutascher Ortsteile Kirchplatzl, Platzl sowie Klamm hinein ins Gaistal.

Tourenbeschreibung

Wir fahren unmittelbar vom Parkplatz Salzbach bei Leutasch über die Brücke hinweg in einen breiten Forstweg ein, welchem wir zunächst bei leichtem Anstieg für etwa zweihundert Meter in westlicher Richtung folgen. Da der ausgeschilderte Ganghoferweg nicht mit dem Mountainbike genutzt werden darf, halten wir uns gemäß Beschilderung links und kommen allmählich hinein ins Almenparadies Gaistal. Nicht ganz einen Kilometer weiter verzweigt der Weg. Da die Abzweigung nach rechts hinauf zur Hämmermoosalm (1417m) führt, halten wir uns auch hier links und erblicken die eindrucksvollen Felsformationen entlang der Mieminger Kette.

Etwa vier Kilometer vom Parkplatz und Ausgangspunkt der Tour entfernt erreichen wir nahe der durch den Talgrund fließenden Leutascher Ache eine deutlich beschilderte Weggabelung. Von dort aus erkennen wir die knapp zweihundert Meter entfernte, bewirtete Gaistalalm (1366m) - ein idyllisches und neben der aussichtsreichen Lage insbesondere aufgrund der schnellen Erreichbarkeit auch bei Wanderern beliebtes Einkehrziel. Unmittelbar an der Gaistalalm vorbei treten wir mit zunehmender Steigung anschließend durch das Almgebiet bergan und gewinnen schließlich endgültig an Höhe. Circa zweieinhalb Kilometer geht es entlang der Forststraße den Hang hinauf. Den kühlenden Schatten des Waldes sucht man hier vergebens, dafür ist der Ausblick hinüber auf die Hohe Munde (2662m) selbst relativ weit unten im Tal bereits bemerkenswert und während der Fahrt ein wahrer Augenschmaus. 

In einer ersten Spitzkehre dann die Möglichkeit für eine kurze Rast. Der kleine Leitenbach mit seinem kristallklaren und kalten Gebirgswasser ist insbesondere an heißen Sommertagen eine willkommene Möglichkeit um sich etwas abzufrischen, bevor es weitergeht. Mit circa sechzehn Prozent Steigung folgt anschließend eine rund eineinhalb Kilometer lange Passage auf teilweise recht sandigem, lockeren Kies der die Auffahrt über diverse Serpentinen und gerade Stiche ein wenig erschwert. Von hier an kann man nun bereits das Ziel der heutigen Tour - die Rotmoosalm (2030m) - erkennen, die bei einem Blick nach Osten weit oberhalb auf dem grasigen Hügel zum Vorschein kommt.

Nicht mehr weit und wir befinden uns inmitten des Talkessels zwischen Predigtstein (2234m), den imposanten Felsflanken des Teufelsgrats und dem Schönberg (2142m). Vorbei an zwei kleinen, privat genutzten Hütten fahren wir zunächst in einem weiten Rechtsbogen auf die nördliche Seite des Kessels um anschließend die letzte Etappe hinauf zur Alm in Angriff zu nehmen. Nach nicht ganz einem Kilometer leichter Bergauffahrt vorbei an duftenden Latschenfeldern flacht der Weg für einen kurzen Augenblick ab. Doch nur um wenige Meter später die steile Auffahrt zum Ziel der Tour einzuläuten. Mit bis zu zwanzig Prozent Steigung sind die letzten dreihundert Meter je Kondition auch schiebend recht bald überwunden und wir stehen direkt vor der Rotmoosalm (2030m). Im Jahr 2009 von einer Lawine völlig zerstört ist die neuerbaute Alm am Schönberg seit 2011 wieder bewirtschaftet und glänzt durch eine unvergleichliche Lage. Ein 360° Panorama der Extraklasse, welches im Süden und Westen über die Mieminger Kette hinweg in Richtung Alpenhauptkamm reicht und das Karwendelgebirge im Osten sowie im Norden die majestätischen Felswände des Wettersteingebirges umfasst.

Die großzügige Terrasse, schmackhafte Speisen und kühle Getränke zu anständigen Preisen und natürlich der Ausblick sind Grund genug um eine ausgiebige Rast einzulegen, ehe es wieder hinab ins Tal geht.

Back in the 18 th century Zamoskvorechye was known as a quiet, country-like land of single-storey houses and conservative businessmen. It remained country-like and is much more filled with business than before, as this area is just right in the city centre.

Super nice tour in an absolutely fantastic valley, plus another 700 m up the mountain to the Rotmoosalm at 2030 m, with sensational views. Really worthwhile environment here, a lot of bikers, because it's a bit extensive for hiking.

Minnesota bike shops, individuals now have dates to apply for e-bike rebate program.

Minnesota bike retailers and individuals waiting for more information got news Thursday from the state about when they can apply to be considered for the electronic bike rebate program this summer.

Retailers who want to be eligible to sell e-bikes and accept rebate certificates can begin to apply online at 8 a.m. on May 1, and individuals can begin to apply for rebate certificates at 11 a.m. on June 5.

"While we do not anticipate these dates changing, they are still considered tentative," according to a news release issued Thursday by the Minnesota Department of Revenue. Rebate certificates will be issued July 1.

The e-bike rebate program, approved by the Legislature in 2023, will make available $2 million both this year and next. Some Minnesota bike retailers said they've fielded many questions about the rebate, with some shop visitors assuming anyone who applies will get money toward a bike.

Some details:

⋅ The number of certificates is finite. Roam bike shop owner John Sheehan in White Bear Lake estimated that 1,500 to 2,000 e-bike buyers could benefit. He said Thursday afternoon that it's still unclear when possible buyers will be notified after applying for vouchers, potentially chilling June sales for retailers who accepted to participate.

Sheehan produced an online calculator for potential customers to plug in their 2023 adjusted gross income and filing status to learn what they qualify for and the savings available on some of his bikes.

⋅ The process is first-come, first-served. The rules call for 40% of the certificates to be reserved for married taxpayers filing a joint return with an adjusted gross income of less than $78,000, or any filer with an adjusted gross income of less than $41,000.

⋅ The certificates will cover 50% to 75% of purchases up to $1,500 (related bike accessories are allowed).

Jonas Vingegaard’s Tour de France defence in doubt after Basque crash

The Tour de France champion, Jonas Vingegaard, was taken to hospital with a broken collarbone after a serious crash on stage four of the Itzulia Basque Country.

Vingegaard also suffered several broken ribs from the high-speed accident that also included Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic among a group of 12 affected riders. “It was a nasty crash, but fortunately he is stable and conscious. He remains in hospital as a precaution. Thank you for all your messages,” Vingegaard’s team Visma-Lease a Bike said in a statement.

Six riders went to hospital after the incident, including the Australian Jay Vine, who was diagnosed with a fractured cervical vertebra and two fractures in his thoracic spine. “Fortunately, there were no neurological problems and there are no other serious injuries or skull injuries,” Vine’s UAE Team Emirates said in a statement.

Evenepoel’s team Soudal-QuickStep revealed the Belgian must undergo surgery on a fractured collarbone and fractured scapula. Roglic was the least affected of the big-name trio involved and he headed for the team car having received medical attention. The incident took place when the peloton was descending around a tight right-hand bend with less than 40km of the stage to go, one riding sliding out of the road and on to the bank, sparking a chain reaction as more followed.

The race was then neutralised until the finish, with only the six riders who had been at the front being allowed to sprint for the finish to try to win the stage, victory eventually going to the underwhelmed South African Louis Meintjes, who admitted it was a hollow triumph.

“It’s a sad day. I wish all the guys who crashed all the best and wish them a fast recovery,” Mattias Skjelmose, who took the overall race lead from Roglic, said at the finish. “My mind is with the guys who crashed, and right now I am not thinking about the leader’s jersey.”

Vingegaard won the Tour de France in 2022 and 2023 but with this year’s event starting on 29 June, doubt now hangs over his ability to defend his crown.
