Group test: brompton bags for commuting.

brompton padded travel bag review

As guidance to “work from home if you can” is lifted, you might be thinking about cycling to work more. If you are using a Brompton folding bicycle you can carry your laptop, some food and bits and bobs in a backpack, but that’s heavy, not great for your back and can leave the back of your top sweaty after a quick ride. Not the best option for looking smart.

Folding bike wheels are generally too small to hold panniers safely on a rack – they will drag on the floor when you ride around tight corners and a basket would get in the way of the bike folding. There is another option which is far easier; you can fit a front carrier block to the front of the bike which allows you to easily attach specially designed Brompton bags to the front of your bike.

The Brompton front carrier block costs £19 and is fairly simple to fit yourself with some Allen keys and a screwdriver. This means you can carry bags that weigh less than 10kg on the front of the Brompton and the design minimises any effect on bike handling. Once you know how to find the little lever, you can clip the bags on and off quickly.

Which bag is best for commuting and for you will depend on what you need to take. For this test, I packed a medium-sized laptop, charger, packed lunch, water bottle, glasses and wallet.

Cambridge Satchel £265

Cambridge Satchel for a Brompton

It’s made from 100% leather, apart from the buckles which aren't that easy to quickly open at first. It is the bag that got the most compliments as the bright 'lagoon' blue colour really stands out and looks very smart. It does come in a range of other colours if bright blue just isn't you. The design is based on the Cambridge Satchel Company’s 15-inch Batchel which retails for £200 without the Brompton attachments.

It is constructed of high-quality materials, but if you are cycling in heavy rain it won’t be waterproof with water able to get in through the sides if it’s full. The leather will wear over time to become softer, and it will age well and last a long time, even with daily use.

It’s not as roomy as it looks. I could get the 13" laptop in here and charger at a squeeze and not much else. A large part of the bag houses the metal frame to keep it rigid on the bike and the block attachment – this also helps it to stand up on the ground. You can only tell this is a Brompton bag if you look at it closely from the back, so perfect for blending in and not looking like a cyclist.

Verdict: Top marks for style and quality, not the bag for taking lots of things to work with.

Barbour Brompton Tarras £170

Barbour Brompton bag

Another quintessentially British brand, Barbour has designed this shoulder bag. It is small but I could get lots more in it.

It is waterproof as it’s made of a 100% waxed cotton outer with a waxed leather trim. The inside is polyester and cotton. The two front pockets are perfect for keeping your water bottle and lunch separate from your other things. There is a special padded compartment for a laptop so you save a bit of space not needing a laptop case.

This bag is a popular choice and I can see why. The durable material with easy-access pockets and openings are great for on the bike but maybe also for thieves. It does take a while to dry when it’s wet but the rain doesn’t get inside the bag very easily. The bad is available in black, navy and olive.

Verdict: Small and stylishly designed for practicality.

Borough Waterproof Bag Large £180

Brompton bag Borough

This is the bag for you if you don’t travel light to work. It’s big enough to take all the test items AND a change of clothes, a pillow and blanket for the train journey. The capacity is 25 litres so more than double the other bags on the test and it is much larger than I expected.

You can condense the bag’s size by rolling it when it isn’t as full. This takes a bit of practice to get it looking neat. Also as I need no encouragement to cycle with more than I need it was hard when I was using this bag not to chuck in extra things like a massive hardback novel to read.

There is a little air release valve if you want to pack it down tighter, which is great if you carry lots of clothing (this also increases creases so not ideal for fabrics that crumple easily like linen).

It’s a rolltop so completely waterproof. I tested this through the winter and nothing inside was ever remotely soggy or damp.

There are two large pockets on the rear of the bag – so they face you when you ride – these are great for easy access to water and food on the go.

The only downside: this is not the bag to blend in with or make a fashion statement with even if it’s big enough to fill with many changes of clothes.

Verdict: Big and spacious, waterproof with great rear pockets.

Borough Roll Top Bag £143

Brompton bag Borough

If you need a bag with pockets then this is the one for you. One front pocket with a zip you can pull with your gloves on, two rear pockets with poppers, two side pockets and a special place for easy access to put your water bottle too.

It’s pretty easy to organise your work things and keep food and drinks away from your devices with this bag. At 28 litres capacity it is much bigger than the Barbour and Cambridge Satchel and marginally bigger than the waterproof Borough version.

The laptop compartment will fit even the largest laptop. The Cordura material is water resistant which means it’s not 100% waterproof but will keep things dry unless it’s raining hard for a long time.

Verdict: Flexible and practical bag for a commuter or small overnight bag

How to choose the best Brompton bag

Tough fabrics such as leather, Cordura and cotton duck resist wear and tear better and justify higher prices. Most bags are stiffened internally to retain their shape and many are reinforced externally to prevent holes. The attachment on the bag to the Brompton front carrier block also helps the bag not fall on its side when it is placed on the ground. It also protects the bottom of the bag. Watch out it doesn’t get damaged or bent as it won’t click into place on the bike.

10-15 litres per bag is standard for a normal bike bag or pannier. For large items, bag shape and closure is a factor: lids, buckles and straps allow ‘outsize’ items; zips and rolltops don’t. For small items, internal and external pockets provide easier access.

Every Brompton bag we tested has a carry handle for transportation off the bike. They all have a shoulder strap too, which is particularly useful if you are carrying your folding bike in the other hand. Think about how much you will be carrying the bag on your journey and choose one with a more padded strap. Reflective material adds night-time conspicuity. Make sure the bag doesn’t obstruct your front light.

Weather resistance

It will rain. We live in the UK. When it does, it’s more convenient if the bag itself is waterproof. Waterproof fabric doesn’t guarantee a waterproof bag. Heavy rain can soak through zips or stitched seams, or get in through openings. Welded seams and either rolltop closures or deep lids are the best defence.

Brompton Bag Guide

When we first started riding and selling Brompton bikes, we ordered them with rear racks because that's how we were used to setting up our commuting bikes. It took us about a day to realize that Brompton's front bag system was far superior. The Front Carrier Block mounts to the frame (not handlebars) of the bike and so the bag attached to the block is not spinning with the front wheel, but is solidly mounted to the frame. Another thing we quickly learned was that Bromptons were enormously utilitarian. Their size had us thinking differently, but after living with a Brompton it was clear that they are awesome mini cargo trucks. This is in a large part due to the awesome front bags.

brompton padded travel bag review

We love bags at Perennial Cycle, which is why we are really excited about the upcoming season. 2020 adds three new bags; The Metro Bag L , The Borough Bag L , and the Borough Basket Bag L . One of the first things we noticed is that the 2020 bags are not a drastic re-imagining of their existing lineup. Instead, Brompton has chosen to focus on subtle quality of life improvements and on modernizing the styling.

Borough Basket Bag L

brompton padded travel bag review

DIMENSIONS:  400mm (W) x 300mm (H) x 200mm (D) VOLUME:  23L MATERIAL:  1000D Cordura Twill COMPATIBILITY: [S-Type] [M-Type] [H-Type]

The Borough Basket Bag L , is the 2020 version of the original Brompton Basket Bag . The original version of this bag has been our favorite utility bag for the Brompton Folding Bike for many years. While it is intended to be a market bag, we find that the uses for it go far beyond groceries. This is the perfect bag for your loose items, odd balls, and literal round objects; toss in your water bottle, your lunch, a lock, your sweater, your phone and pretty much anything else you want to access easily while on the go. Got another bag you love? Awesome! Throw it inside this one!

brompton padded travel bag review

Inside the bag you'll find more than enough room to fit the essentials with 23L of volume. The bag tapers from 5 inches at the base to around 7.8 inches at the opening, leaving enough room for two water bottles back to back at the base. The handle pulls the bag closed like a clam shell while under load. The exterior is military grade Cordura 1000D, with a weather-proof coating on the inside. A small zippered pocket is supplied for smaller loose items (such as keys, phone and wallet).

The Metro Messenger Bag L

DIMENSIONS:  400mm (W) x 300mm (H) x 150mm (D) VOLUME:  23L MATERIAL:  1000D Cordura Twill COMPATIBILITY: [S-Type] [M-Type] [H-Type]

The Metro Messenger Bag L , is designed around the needs of an urban commuter. The new functional features include a redesigned front flap, improved flap coverage, and buckles on the outside for easier access. Also, the interior sections now include a laptop and water bottle sleeve allowing more flexibility in the ways this bag can be used.

The Metro is similar to the classic Brompton C-Bag , in terms of size and function. While the C-bag was not compatible with the S-Type Brompton , these new 2020 bags are compatible with ALL Brompton handlebar types. Awesome!

brompton padded travel bag review

When we look inside The Metro Bag L, it has an ample amount of storage, with ~23L of bag volume. The laptop slot measures 15 inches from end to end, but we would recommend ~14 inches be your maximum actual measured width (This is the width of a 15" MacBook pro). A nice water bottle sleeve on the exterior saves interior space, and gives easy access for that quick stoplight sip. Also, the exterior pocket gives you a little extra room for some small items. Glove friendly zippers make this an all-season winner, and the updated styling makes this bag a welcome accessory even in professional spaces.

DIMENSIONS:  400mm (W) x 300mm (H) x 200mm (D) VOLUME:  28L MATERIAL:  1000D Cordura Twill COMPATIBILITY: [S-Type] [M-Type] [H-Type]

The Borough Roll Top Bag L is the largest of the 2020 bags. This is the perfect bag for those looking to maximize the carrying capacity of their Brompton. Not only is it roomy, it also comes with an assortment of pockets and storage compartments, making organization and space optimization a real breeze. This would be the bag to bring if you are going on a tour, or if you need more room than the Metro offers for your daily routine.

brompton padded travel bag review

On the inside, you'll find a laptop sleeve and a zippered pouch where you can store small items like a charger. While the laptop slot measures 15 inches from end to end, we would recommend ~14 inches be your maximum actual measured width (This is the width of a 15" MacBook pro). The Borough Roll Top has all the same quality of life add-ons as the Metro: Glove friendly zippers, bottle sleeve, and exterior storage pockets.

While the Borough may look very similar to Metro Messenger in size & volume, they are actually very different bags. The Borough's Roll Top greatly expands the capacity. Additionally, the Borough Roll Top has a set of exterior straps, which make a nice home for a yoga mat, helmet, or other odd shape object.

Carradice has been making beautiful cycling bags in England for over 80 years. The materials and construction of these bags is all about being durable and weatherproof. The waxed cotton duck fabric is long wearing as well as having a lovely, distinctive look. Since the Brompton and Carradice bags are both made in England, you may notice that the aesthetics and design match well with the Brompton Folding Bicycle; we feel that they are the ideal British pairing.

Carradice City Folder Bag

DIMENSIONS:  400mm (W) x 330mm (H) x 135mm (D) VOLUME:  25L MATERIAL:  Waxed Cotton Duck COMPATIBILITY:  [S-Type] [M-Type] [H-Type]

Perennial Cycle has been importing Carradice from England for nearly 20 years and we were the first shop in North America to import the Brompton specific Carradice City Folder . It is hard work to get all of our grey-ducks in a row to get these into the shop, but we feel that effort is worth it for our customers. If you are looking for a large capacity bag that will look good in the office and is still capable of handling a weekend trip, the Carradice City Folder is for you.

brompton padded travel bag review

Not only is The City Folder an attractive bag, it is a functional one as well. It features an internal divider with a phone pocket and a removable laptop pouch. Additionally, the City Folder has a carry handle on lid and comes with a nice quality shoulder strap. With ~25L of volume, there is ample storage. Organization and space management are no problem because the City Folders comes with two saddlebag style pockets on the rear and an external zipped compartment on the front.

DIMENSIONS:  390mm (W) x 320mm (H) x 120mm (D) VOLUME:  16L MATERIAL:  Waxed Cotton Duck COMPATIBILITY:  [S-Type] [M-Type] [H-Type]

The Carradice Stockport provides a stylish city commuter bag for the Brompton Folding Bicycle. It isn't as large as the City Folder , but still has all the essentials you'll need to enable your day, such as a laptop sleeve and shoulder strap. The Stockport uses the same Long-wearing Cotton Duck material as their other classic bags, making this bike bag a timeless accessory for your Brompton.

brompton padded travel bag review

Inside the bag you'll find a padded laptop pouch and 16L of space for your essentials. Thick leather straps are used for the closure and gives the bag that classic feel. A cotton webbing shoulder strap is supplied with the bag, and while loaded, it is wide enough that it won't dig into your shoulder as you carry on with your day.

UPSO is a fun company to work with. We like their message of seeking out ways to maximize the use of resources as well as minimize trash. UPSO meets this goal by up-cycling material, and then using those resources to create an individual product that matches both the aesthetics and the values of their users. The fabrics used to make these bags come from discarded lorry tarps (Truck Covers).

UPSO Ferrybridge Folder

DIMENSIONS:  390mm (W) x 320mm (H) x 120mm (D) VOLUME:  16L MATERIAL:  Upcycled Lorry tarps, firehoses, and Seatbelts COMPATIBILITY:  [S-Type] [M-Type] [H-Type]

UPSO Ferrybridge Folder bags each have a unique design and are hand-cut and sewn at their factory in the UK, making each bag a true original. These robust waterproof bags are great for carrying your files, laptops and cycling gear. Bag Frames are included, and work well with the Brompton Carrier Block (sold separately).

brompton padded travel bag review

Inside the Ferrybridge you'll find an inner divider for keeping your laptop secure, 16L of storage for your essentials, and a zipped pocket for small items, cords and chargers. Also, if you live in the colder climates, like us, you'll appreciate the glove friendly zippers, waterproof materials, and LED light loop on the lid. We feel this is an exceptional bag for the city commuter. These are truly one-of-a-kind bags, with no two being the same; perfect for the independently spirited individuals among us.

Brompton Bags Full Range Review

Emily · Aug 26, 2015 · 25 Comments

It may seem like all I blog about is bags , but I will eventually prove to you that that is not the case. However, the bags have been stacking up at London Cyclist HQ so we thought we would have a blitz. This is more of a roundup post than a review.

For all you current and aspiring Bromptoneers out there, here is a barebones review of all the bags Brompton make for their bikes. If you don’t have a carrier block on your bike you will need one of those too, they cost £15 .

Brompton T Bag- £95

Brompton T-Bag

Capacity: 30 liters

Handlebar compatibility: M, H and P, although you cannot overfill it on the P bars

  • Carrying a lot of stuff – clothes, groceries, other bulky things
  • Putting an existing briefcase or handbag in to get it to work
  • Touring – that’s why it’s the T -bag
  • Carrying around off the bike – flimsy shoulder strap, although it is removable, therefore replaceable.
  • In bag organization – it is just one big cavity
  • Easy access during the day – the bag uses three buckles to keep it closed

Available for £95 from Evans Cycles

Brompton C Bag – £105

Brompton C-Bag

Capacity: 25 liters

Handlebar compatibility: M, H and P

  • Taking to the office- good organization and access, will fit a large laptop
  • Carrying clothes – has quite a large main compartment
  • Carrying around off the bike – good, padded shoulder strap
  • Being trendy – it’s not the best looking courier bag, but it’s not bad
  • Small people carrying around off the bike – I am 5’4” and it’s a bit awkward

Available from Evans Cycles for £105

Brompton Folding Basket – £50

Brompton Folding basket

Capacity: 24 liters

  • Carrying most things – being a basket you can just add whatever you want.
  • Going to the shop – you can use the bag/bike combo as your shopping trolley
  • Carrying a small dog – this is not a supported use by myself or Brompton, but is possible
  • Security – obviously it is just open, although there are two hand straps that can be used along with a small clip to anchor your bags.
  • Weather-proofing – its open so things will get wet in the rain, although the rain cover that comes with other bags can be purchased separately and fits if the basket is not too full

Available from  Evans Cycles for £50

Brompton S Bag – £105

Brompton S-Bag

Capacity: 20 liters

Handlebar compatibility – All

  • Taking to the office – it is just a smaller version of the C-bag so has all the same pockets and organization
  • Changing your mind – the front flap is removable and can be changed to a new one or different pattern
  • Using as a basket – as you can remove the flap you can use it as a basket if needed
  • Carrying a lot of clothes
  • Carrying large laptops – the mouth of this bag is quite narrow due to the way it is made so will only easily fit 13” laptops and compact 15”

Brompton O Bag – £200

Yellow Brompton O-Bag

Capacity: 18 liters

Handlebar compatibility: All (although advice is too not overfill on S type but this in not possible if you want to close the bag anyway)

  • Taking to the office – it is a very smart bag with lots of internal organization and a laptop sleeve
  • Keeping your things dry – it is made by Ortlieb and so is completely waterproof
  • Adding more personality to your bike – it is available in a variety of bright colours as well as black
  • Durability – it is a sturdy, robust bag
  • Carrying around off the bike – it is not too comfy on your back due to the non-removable mount
  • Carrying lots of clothes – it is a pretty rigid bag so you cant fit too many clothes in there
  • Wheeling the bike around – the handle is soft and so it is a bit harder to use it to wheel the bike while folded

Available from £195 from Evans Cycles

Brompton Game Bag – £245

Brompton game bag, pink

Handlebar compatibility: All

  • Looks – this is a beautiful, handmade bag and will be great in an office or the pub, easily the classiest option from Brompton
  • Use off the bike – this is probably the most usable bag if you carry it around during the day
  • Wheeling the bike around – the handle is soft and so it is a bit harder to use it to wheel the bike while folded
  • Carrying lots of clothes
  • Your bank balance!

Available for  £245 at Evans Cycles

Brompton Mini-O Bag – £90

Brompton Mini-O Bag

Capacity: 7 liters

  • Days out – it fits a little food, a camera, phone etc.
  • Those traveling light – you can just fit an iPad (or similar) in it so it can be used for work if you don’t carry much
  • Weatherproofing – it is made by Ortlieb so it is completely waterproof
  • Making your bike a little more snazzy – it comes in lots of colours
  • Carrying much- it is small so don’t expect to fit too much in there

Available from Evans Cycles for £90

Brompton Racksack – £70

Brompton Rack Sack

Capacity: 16 liters

Compatibility: It only fits on bikes with a rear rack

  • Carrying extra things on your Brompton by utilizing your rear rack – this is the only bag specifically made to fit on the back of the bike
  • Folding your bike – it is fiddly to get on and off, which you need to do to fold your bike – therefore best for long journeys

Available for £70 from Evans Cycles

Final review & thoughts

Bags, like saddles are quite personal. I have spent a long time using a C-Bag and some time using a O-Bag. I think that for most general day to day uses the C-Bag is a good all rounder. When I am not carrying much I can cinch it down, but if I pick things up during the day, I can shove it all in and still get home. Aesthetically its not amazing, but its not really offensive either, just a bit ‘function over form’.

The O-Bag is a little more restrictive but much smarter and briefcase like, and of course totally waterproof and well made. I can still fit a fair amount in it, but don’t have as much leeway to shop during the day – often not a bad thing! Plus, the O-Bag comes in awesome colours – mine is yellow- and they are a nice touch to increase visibility. If I was using my bike to do any food shopping on a regular basis I would absolutely get a basket as well.

Let us know which bag your Brompton is rocking and if you have any thoughts on the different types!

I researched the bags and then decided on the Carradice City Folder bag. It looks similar to the Game bag, but is only £95 (plus £15 for the frame). It is NOT as the pictures on the Carradice site show or as in one review which criticised that the rivets on the handle and the shoulder strap tore out over time. The design was adapted and these are now reinforced on both sides. The back reinforcement had also been cut out to allow the frame handle to be used.

It has 2 back pockets, one of which is ideal for a Dimpa bag (IKEA) and one for a drink etc. Otherwise it is the same layout as the Carradice Bike Bureau: a small zip pocket at the front, a small open pocket behind and inside suspended a cushioned laptop compartment.

http://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php?page_id=product&under=type&product_id=17

Good for: – Carrying lots of stuff, gym kit etc. – Classic look – use off the bike

Bad for: – large if you just want a handbag

There is also a version for the S bar for £130 ( http://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php?page_id=product&under=range&url=stockport-city-folder ) and a Harris Tweed version for £150 (on these photos you can see that the handle fixings are riveted on either side of the metal ring: http://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php?page_id=product&under=range&product_id=178 )

Thanks for your post. The product looks good. Will the brompton fold down with the frame fitted ? Many thanks.

' src=

28/08/2015 at 10:50 am

Yes. But with the Stockport, it’s so easy and convenient as a messenger/shoulder bag, why would you?

28/08/2015 at 10:49 am

I agree: the two bags Carradice make specifically for the Brompton are more practical than anything Brompton have licensed to be made. I have owned all the Brompton ones, sold them all on.

The Carradice Stockport is a gem. My review of it seems to be the only one (by a user/customer) anywhere on the Internet: http://velovoice.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/review-carradice-stockport-bag-for.html

I have not tried any of the Ortlieb bags. Friends who have them do like them. I have tried other messenger bags from Ortlieb and simply don’t like the feel against my hands, when you’re getting stuff out and putting stuff into them all the time. I do use Ortlieb panniers when touring though and can vouche for their waterproofness and durability. But they don’t get the literal handling that daily bags such as what you’d use with a Brompton get and I don’t think they’d be at all ‘comfortable’ in a tactile sense.

' src=

28/08/2015 at 1:06 pm

Just like the bikes – these are as fugly as it gets.

Any links to alternative bags with style (e.g. Mission Workshop) – and alternatives to the bikes which look like they were designed in the 20’s (in a bad way).

Thank you for your really good reviews, I have had a C bag for 9 years so far and it seems totally indestructible. It has carried large lever arch files top and tailed, a weeks groceries (for me). with its mouth open you can really load it full and still be able to button it down.

The poxy waterproof cover was a nuisance, so I bought a stick of Otto Wax (£18) and waterproofed it that way. It has a distinct aged leather look now which is awesome!

My recumbent has a full set of 4 Ortlieb bags, Bike packer on the back carrier and Front Rollers on the Lowrider carriers under the seat. On the frame in between them I carried a 15 – 40 litre Dry Bag

I use it for touring mostly, but have had some exciting commutes on it. With the full set I carried everything for camping out on a Lands End to John O’Groats tour

I have been using the Cbag for a few years and it really useful. I regularly have 10kg in it (really heavy) with two laptops. The carring strap works well. When it isn’t full of laptops it is great for shopping and I have pulled the bike around a lot of supermarkets. It will easily hold a loaf of bread, two bottles of wine and the rest of dinner. Very useful big bag.

There’s an even bigger alternative to the T-Bag, also made by Radical Design from the Netherlands, but is only available in Belgium/Netherlands as it’s made for Vouwfiets:

http://www.vouwfiets.nl/brompton-rol-top-bag-p-252.html?language=en

270€ ain’t cheap, though.

22/09/2015 at 12:20 pm

In addition, Vincita (Thailand) also makes bags for Brompton:

Well I have given in to the temptation of my B+1and bought the Ortlieb mini bag for my Brommie

' src=

21/11/2015 at 12:28 pm

I have had the C-bag for 4 years or so, and the zip on one of rear pockets has now broken, anyone else had this? Makes it unusable, and its a nightmare to get mended, so far all the specialist cobblers etc have been unable to help, leaving me with a big bill for a new bag just because of a zip. Any solutions welcome

This happened to both pockets on my C bag (now 6 years old). I have no sewing ability, but managed to cut off the old zips with my Leatherman blade and stitch on some replacements I got from eBay fro a few pounds each. The repair does not look pretty, but it works.

I also had issues with the strap attachment on both sides, and have added rivets and eyelets+shoelaces to reinforce them, which is also ugly, but works.

' src=

16/09/2016 at 3:06 pm

Just what I’m looking for. My C-bag is also 6 years old. Back zips went years ago, not a problem. Broke the side zip this morning, which is a massive pain, as I usually keep the phone in there. It looks like zip replacement is the way to go. Cheers

22/11/2015 at 9:52 pm

My C bag is 9 years old and still good. I bought the Ortlieb Brompton bag for when I need extra space

I’ve got the folding basket for my Brompton with M handlebars. It’s great because I can carry a lot of stuff in there (handbag, food shopping, parcels), and I can also chuck things in there as I cycle, without stopping to open a bag (for example, a scarf as I get too hot cycling). I’ve modified it though to make it a bit more ergonomic; while it comes with 2 small carry handles, I’ve extended these to be adjustable shoulder straps. The adjustability is important, as the shape of the basket changes based on how open it is (as it folds flat), so to get the two handles at an even level needs adjustment depending on this. I’ve also added a small strap with a clip to the top of the basket (it goes from the front of the basket, loops round the rigid handle at the back, then round again to the front to clip it together) to allow me to ‘lock’ it shut if there isn’t much in there (basically to attach one side to the other). This makes it thinner, so a bit easier to carry off the bike and also feels less bulky on the bike while riding. If it’s raining, I just use the standard Brompton reflective yellow bag cover that I got separately, and that’s ample to cover the entire basket, no matter how much stuff there is in there.

14/12/2015 at 2:22 pm

Well done for that Helen, it’s your bike and bag.I became irritated with my C bag as if I carried it there’d be no rain and if I didn’t it would rain. I bought a stick of Otto wax and waxed my bag thoroughly and now It’s completely waterproof

I have these bags :

1) C bag Good bag, zippers are known to be fragile to zip slowly

2) T bag Great bag, pocket zipper is known to be fragile to zip slowly

3) Mini o bag Not bad but fragile : the snaps fall out and the bottom is damaged by the plastic that kids 2 holes in the fabric (check yours for a surprise !)

4) Game bag Poor quality : after 6 months the green fabric get frayed at the corner where the zippers are stitched, shocking for this price, looks ratty because of that. The blue one will easily have white marks where the frame touches the fabric hence I took the green one.

5) Rack bag Good bag but there is a design defect : the strap is stitched on the lid hence you can not carry it open

I love them all, each has his use.

May be C Bag (the first one I bough) and Game bag are too close to buy both but Game looks more classy hence could be more versatile as easily usable by its own.

I never tried the basket but it looks silly to use an open basket on a bike when you can have a bag instead.

22/02/2016 at 9:59 am

My C bag has had 12 years of heavy use, loaded with textbooks, files, groceries and camping gear. apart from a slightly distressed look, its still in perfect working order. All zips are good, clips and straps still origional.

' src=

06/08/2016 at 9:36 pm

I have owned a basket almost as long as I have owned a brompton. I use it all the time, trips to the local shops where I pile huge amounts of shopping into it and also to the park where I go with my dog – she loves riding in it. I do have a brompton c bag which is good but the basket is so much easier. Naturally I not take my dog if it is going to rain, but do take plastic bags to keep things dry.

' src=

27/04/2016 at 12:05 am

Out of interest, how much difference does a C bag make in a reasonable head wind? Does a tail wind make up for it?

27/04/2016 at 1:15 am

With front wind you must fart often to compensate !

27/04/2016 at 12:36 pm

So with a tail wind do you belch often to compensate?

Hiya, I believe you should edit your post – I don’t know how it was in 2015 when you published this post, but the S Bag will definitely fit a large 15 inch laptop (I have a PCSpecialist Defiance laptop which is rather hefty), and it will still have some room to spare – definitely could fit a few notebooks, laptop charger, extension cord, water bottle and small knickknacks.

I just bought one yesterday in Brompton Junction, Covent Garden, after trying it out. It’s the ideal biggest bag for the S-type handle-bars, as it won’t rub against the wires and make that grating noise. Go for it! 🙂

Best travel backpacks for women collage featuring six different backpacks on black and white background.

As someone who frequently travels, I've slung duffels, totes , and travel purses on my arm, but nothing compares to using the best travel backpacks. Depending on the length of your trip, a suitcase can either be too bulky or not big enough, so you'll need the vital second bag to make sure all your clothes, tech, and gear securely arrive at your destination. Plus, traveling with a backpack can be more supportive for your back, freeing up your arms and hands to pull out directions on your phone or to hold an iced coffee. Backpacks can also be surprisingly roomy, so everything you need (or want) on your trip fits as comfortably as possible. The good news is there are a wide range of excellent options to suit any and all of your needs. Below, we found the most travel-friendly options and tapped Glamour editors and some of our frequent-flier friends to share the best travel backpacks.

What to look for in a travel backpack

When shopping for luggage items like a travel backpack, the comfort and capacity of the bag is key. You want it to feel easy on the body, which means wide straps or a hip belt to distribute weight, which comes in handy if you're running to catch a plane or carrying it through a crowded subway. Bonus points if the straps are they adjustable and padded. Consider the material: Is it lightweight, soft, and made of durable material like water-resistant fabric? As for size, think about the use of the backpack. There are weekender bags and carry-on size options you can use for long weekends or smartly packed weeklong vacations and styles for short day trips, hikes, or shopping excursions.

Here's a simple, sleek backpack with plenty of built-in organization. “My twin sister and I have traveled the world together, and this bag came in particularly handy on our trip to South America when we both needed more room besides our carry-on luggage. What I loved about this piece is it's essentially a suitcase with straps. The wrap zipper fully opens up, allowing you to see and organize your goods into the compartments. I love how sleek it is, and yet, despite its slim appearance, it manages to fit my 15-inch laptop, my secondary screen, charger, headphones, e-reader, and mouse. It has handy organizational features, like an inner key ring, zippered outer pockets for me to stash my lip gloss and phone, and not one but two mesh pockets that fit my water bottle and an umbrella. Dagne Dover Dakota Medium Neoprene Backpack

Best Minimalist Design : Dagne Dover Dakota Medium Neoprene Backpack

“On my last flight I saw not one, not two, but multiple travelers with this style hanging from their backs. As someone who regularly takes Dagne Dover bags on trips, I understand the popularity. The neoprene material is strong, soft, and stretchy, which causes the bag to flex to your body and whatever you put inside. It's forgiving, allowing you to fit in and possibly overstuff everything you need for a trip. It also washes well, ensuring it will always have that chic appearance even after some wear and tear,” says Porcaro. This is an awesome option for anyone who ends up leaving a trip with more than they brought. “The adjustable Y-shaped strap can be tight and secure or loosened to allow for more room, which is the reason why this is a piece of heavy rotation for me. It always shocks me how much I can fit/shove into the main compartment yet still slide my laptop out of the back sleeve. No matter if it’s filled with a hoodie and various pouches holding makeup, power cords, and snacks; it's easy to access. I like to use the zip pocket on the top to store antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, headphones, and anything else I want easy access to once I arrive on the flight,” says Porcaro.

Capacity: 21 ¾"H x 14"W x 8"D. / Waterproof : Water Resistant

  • Pros: Crust resistant, two-way zip closure, RFID-shielded pocket;
  • Cons: Expensive

PAK Large Nylon Backpack

Best for City Travel : PAK Large Nylon Backpack

“As a backpack I recently added to my collection, I was impressed by how many features were hidden in what seemed like a pretty basic bag. First, it’s worth noting how seamlessly this slid on and off my back, making it a breeze to sit on the subway or grab my wallet to buy coffee. At first glance, I was confused about the zipper on the bottom of the front pocket, but when I realized it was a coat sling, which, as someone who runs cold and always has an extra layer, is something I will use again and again. Another made-for-me feature is an extra large pocket for water bottles since it’s a personal pet peeve when they aren’t wide enough for standard sizes. Having only worn this around the city for daily life, I appreciate that the shape and look of the pack are city-ready and more polished. When I take this on international trips, I look forward to using the hidden theft-proof compartments,” says Porcaro.

Capacity: 13.5”L x 7” W x 14” H / Waterproof : No

  • Pros: Easy access pocket in the back, Coat sling, Large side pockets
  • Cons: Not super large

Roam Continental Backpack

Best Customizable : Roam Continental Backpack

Anyone who is a fan of customization will appreciate this pick. Buyers can choose the color they want on the front, back, side, and straps to create a bag that is uniquely theirs. This is favorite of Glamour commerce editor Jenifer Calle , who has been using it for years. “It fits enough for weekend trips and vacation travel. I particularly like that the side zippers fit my Owala water bottle and there are plenty of zipper and pockets to hold my wallet, keys, chargers, lip balms, and more” says Glamour’s Calle.

Capacity : 26 L / Waterproof : Water Repellent

  • Pros : Customizable; 100-day trial period; soft material; luggage sleeve
  • Cons : Expensive

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro

2 Comments · Posted by Alex Smirnov in Cities , Travel , Video

The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.

The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.

Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.

The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.

You fly for hours, anticipating your arrival, wanting to take in the area and the views of another country far away from your departure airport. The airport and the area you leave from is detailed and visually full, and you know you have a great airport scenery waiting for you at the other end of the flight, then when you arrive...

...  Nothing, but flat plain emptiness and the same boring standard X-Plane basic scenery, worse there is no OSM (Open Street Map) data in the tile either, so there is no road or autogen detailing in there as well, just well nothing.

When Drzewiecki Design released their UUEE Sheremetyevo Airport XP , I loved it because it was like a visitor from the Cold War past, the Soviet era, and it was also great scenery and great choice of a destination to fly to from any of the capitals of Europe...  but that was it, just this great airport in the middle of nothingness, bland....   zero ville.

Moscow old.jpg

Now Drzewiecki Design has released "Moscow City"  a scenery package to compliment their UUEE Sheremetyevo, and boy how much a difference this release has done to this totally boring area.

To get the full first impression effect I flew JARDesign's A320neo from EFHK Vatnaa, Helsinki to UUEE Sheremetyevo which is flight Finnair AY153 which is a daily 9.25am service.

Moscow City_ Dep Vatnaa 1.jpg

First Impressions

I was surprised to start picking up scenery still quite away out from central Moscow, as I approached my 6000ft transition altitude. Here there was buildings and houses and the physical visual notes you were arriving somewhere.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 1.jpg

Looking hard at the horizon through the A320's windows and you could see the iconic silhouette of Moscow city.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 5.jpg

The scenery provides lite versions of all Moscow's Airports, this is UUWW Vnukovo, which was easily recognisable as you flew over. As you fly closer to the centre of the city the density of the objects below becomes quite heavy as the landscape fills in. You have all kinds of infrastructure including, blocks of flats, tower blocks, factories, housing, skyscrapers and almost everything that makes up an urban landscape, in all there is 2000 custom-made buildings that makes up this impressive scenery.

A note here in that you don't get that rolling as you move feeling effect where as it just suddenly appears in front of you and then quickly disappears behind as soon as you have flown out over the area. There is a slight effect of that as there has to be, but only in the far distance and as you can see from the images the views in every direction are widespread and visually it is very good to excellent.

The "Seven Sisters" or "Stalinist skyscrapers" built from 1947 to 1953 are all in the scenery with their "Wedding Cake" architecture or officially  Russian Baroque               - Gothic style. Most famous is the Moscow State University, front and centre of the image below.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival LG 16.jpg

Central Moscow is excellent and extremely realistic, and you really need a travel guide to pick out the landmarks and detail, but it is hard to miss the Red Kremlin complex  and St Peter's square from the air.  Both sides of the aircraft is visually full until you have crossed right over the city.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 7.jpg

I am not a fan of the generated 3d OSM scenery, but this is very good in blending in perfectly with the X-Plane default scenery and giving you a smooth transition from country to urban and back again with great realism.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 14.jpg

Over the city and turning north towards Sheremetyevo, another Moscow airport UUMU Chkalovsky is represented on the turn.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 17.jpg

The city skyline is now easily visible on landing at Sheremetyevo, and that really helps in the arrival factor, more so in that the cities building infrastructure spread now comes up and around the airport to fill the gaps to the city itself, and making the original  Sheremetyevo scenery that was so open and lonely in the old X-Plane view is now a big part of the whole in this combination. No doubt it really brings this always good scenery now alive and very usable.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 19.jpg

Sheremetyevo Airport

Before we move on to the city itself. It is important to note the area around UUEE Sheremetyevo itself.

Moscow Sheremetyevo 1.jpg

Compare the large image above to the earlier image at the start of this review to see the amount of change there is around UUEE Sheremetyevo with the addition of this Moscow City package. The two sceneries are of course meant to be used together, and in reality it would look odd if you had Moscow City scenery installed without the Sheremetyevo scenery included to fill out the northern areas. A highlight is that both sceneries together form a single whole, as the areas between the airport and the central city area are well filled in and that gives you a huge area of coverage and the full visual aspect.

To get a closer lower look at the Moscow Center I commandeered Dreamfoil's lovely Bell 407.

Moscow Buildings 1.jpg

There is a 4.000km² total area covered with this scenery here, and you have expect some sort of building replication to cover all that ground. There is of course but as well in the fact there is also enough variations as to not keep it all interesting and not obviously visually obvious.

Moscow Buildings 2.jpg

The closer you go to the central area, the variations in the buildings change there in style and density as well. And then more of the iconic buildings start to appear as you get closer in again to the middle. The business district is excellent, with a lot of business towers and the more modern futuristic skyscraper architecture that stands out in every view point in eye scans across the city.

Moscow Buildings 5.jpg

The more recent is in tune with the more older Stalinist era that makes up the Moscow skyline.

The Kremlin Complex and the Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed (St Basil's) is excellently represented and so is "Red Square"

Moscow Buildings 10.jpg

There are Orthodox churches everywhere and all the big icons in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Grand Arena of the Central Lenin Stadium, Otkrytive Arena and department stores, museums and power stations and more....

I did have issues with many buildings floating, including the Kremlin. I tried both "Runways follow terrain contours" on and off with no flattening of the objects and there is no information in the manual either on how to fix the problem.

Night lighting is very good, yes there is again a repeatable pattern to the majority of the hundreds of the apartment blocks that does stand out, but the more individual buildings do all have that personal touch and some buildings look really very good.

Moscow Buildings Night 1.jpg

The highlight here is the business district which looks magnificent and is very realistic from any direction at night as is the lit Stadium.

Moscow Buildings Night 3.jpg

Although away from the central area the Ostankino Tower that stands 540.1 metres (1,772 ft) tall, and is the tallest freestanding structure in Europe and it looks great at night and is a very good position indicator from the air from any direction.

Included Moscow Airports

As noted also included in the scenery are seven airports and several helipads.

UUWW Vnukovo

Moscow UUWW Vnukovo 1.jpg

The futuristic Vnukovo International is very good for a lite version, with great terminals and lots of small detailing. Only thing missing is the static aircraft and a bit more ramp equipment, but otherwise it is highly usable.

UUDD Domodedovo

Moscow UUDD Domodedovo 1.jpg

The oldest of Moscow's International airports is Domodedovo. Again it is quite devoid of static aircraft and I am not crazy about the blue terminal glass work, but it is still a very workable scenery to use and has a lot of well made objects.

UUBW Zhukovsky

Moscow UUBW Zhukovsky 1.jpg

Zhukovsky was a major aircraft testing facility since the  cold war years, with most of the major Russian Experimental Design Bureau's having facilities here. It is also now used by the Ministry of Emergency Situations! and cargo carriers. It was also used as a test site for the Soviet Buran  reusable Spacecraft because it has the world's second longest pubic runway at at 5,402 m (17,723 ft). Mostly it is a collection of very large hangars but has a lot of static aircraft in storage.

UUMO Ostafyevo International Business Airport

Moscow UUMo Ostafyevo 1.jpg

A former military airbase. Ostafyevo features a new modern glass terminal, and caters primarily to business aviation.

UUMU Chkalovsky

Moscow UUMU Chkalovsky 1.jpg

Chkalovsky is a military logistics airport that is famous for it's support for the Russian Space program and transport to Star City and the Yuri A. Gagarin State Scientific Research-and-Testing Cosmonaut Training Center. Yuri Gagarin left here on his final flight before crashing by the town of Kirzhach.

UUBM Myachkovo Airport

Moscow UUBM Myachkovo 1.jpg

Myachkovo is a small General Aviation Airport that is owned by the Finpromko company. Cargo aircraft up to the size of the Ilyushin ll-76 freighter can also use the airport.

UUMB Kubinka

Moscow UUMB Kubinka 1.jpg

Kubinka has been a significant Russian military airbase and large airshows are held here to show off the Russian military might.

There is also provided UUU1 Kremlin Airport, within the Kremlin walls, but I couldn't get it to work? There are two pads in H1 and H2.

Your first thoughts after reviewing this excellent Moscow scenery is not with this actual package. You then wish that you could have this extensive scenery at London, Rome, Madrid, Berlin and the list could go on with any of your favorite European Cities, and don't count a load in the Middle East and Asia. But a London scenery like this would certainly be a godsend in our X-Plane world. Drzewiecki Design has already done Warsaw and Manhattan, so there is always hope.

It is not cheap either and you need to add in their UUEE Sheremetyevo scenery package on top of that as well. But you get an awful lot of ground covered here for your money, with the area covered here that is extensive...  huge and flying into Moscow will never be the same again.

A few areas to note in one that in my case a few of the buildings floated, the download is huge load at 1.4gb and this Russian area is not the best for navigation aids and programming FMS units as most waypoints are not recognised. Most of the airports ILS coordinates also have to checked and recalibrated (Drzewiecki Design do provide all the correct coordinates) so there is a little work to do to set up repeat services but the work is worth the results.

Not only is the actual Moscow city and all it's buildings supported, you also get seven (if lite versions) of Moscow's other airports included as well, but the framerate processing of all this huge amount of objects and scale is pretty good to excellent. Framerate does hurt more on a lower (helicopter) level and certainly you need a computer with a little extra power is in no doubt required, but overall for the size of the area the scenery is extremely efficient.

Yes I was impressed by this Moscow City Scenery, as this once very barren area of X-Plane is now a very attractive repeat destination as nothing can give you a greater fulfilment than seeing your destination appear in the distance and then give you a huge visual experience as you fly over and approach your destination.

Moscow City certainly delivers that and more...  Just more sceneries like this please!

Thank you for this very thorough (as always) review. I just bought it (it's on sale) and have only one disappointment so far: Red Square has no ILS or any landing aids at all for that matter. And what a nightmare of an approach! Also I was hoping the package would include an add-on that gives my c172 a big cup holder for my Stoli. Otherwise the scenery is gorgeous. What a country!

A Magazine for Those With a Passion to Travel in Style

Moscow: An Honest Review of this Amazing City

“ You’re going to Russia?!?! Why? ” I heard these words pretty much every time I announced my upcoming trip to the east.

This reaction is understandable. Most people in Europe and the United States have a Putin-provoked distaste of the Russian Federation, which is growing by the day. Politicians claim that Russia’s sole mission is to diminish and undermine western powers to strengthen its own. After all, the name Vladimir comes from two old Slavic words, which together mean “great ruler of the world.” Make of that what you will…

Even the non-political vision of Russia is unfavorable. Most think of a cold, grey, backward place with Soviet architecture or battle-hardened, weather-beaten people. However, arriving at the sleek Moscow Domodedovo airport, I was impressed. I had been right to rebut popular notions of an unwelcoming and stony place.

However, almost immediately after leaving the airport, the ground for my righteous vindication became shaky. Driving into the outskirts of Moscow, my mind drew comparisons to television images of North Korean suburbs. Miles of uniform houses and bleak tower blocks lined the roads.

At the Izmailovov Delta Hotel next to the famous market of the same name, things were not looking much better. Truly peculiar decorations and violently colored walls competed for one’s gaze in the hotel lobby. Luckily, the rooms themselves were perfectly comfortable, though not particularly noteworthy. I’d stay central next time.

After dropping bags, I ventured toward the Izmailovov market for a look at how the locals live. From a distance, the buildings that encase the market are vivid, intricate and quite something to behold. As it was late in the day, the market was empty. Shop shutters were closed and stalls were folded up. I got the same uneasy feeling I get when walking through Disney Land – as if this was what remained after the recent collapse of a utopian society.

While nearly all the vendors had packed up and gone home, a few stalls remained opened for business. All that was left was an abundance of satirical matryoshka dolls containing various countries’ political leaders in historical order.

A tattooed burly salesman came over to me as I withdrew François Mitterrand from the wooden bowels of Valéry Giscard d’Estaing.

“ Where are you from, friend? ” He asked.

Ignoring my response, he launched into a speech about his armed forces days and the political situation in Russia.

“ You really ought not to trust the government, ok? Putin is a dangerous man, you see. Someone’s always watching in this city. ”

The whiff of Glühwein that carried with each sentence made me doubt the erudition of his analysis. Then again… this is what we hear in the news. I was not sure what to believe. After thanking the man and hastily filling Charles de Gaulle with the rest of the presidents of the Fifth Republic, I made my way back to the hotel.

Emerging from the underground we rounded the corner and immediately found ourselves in Red Square. The sight demands you stop and stare.

The insurmountable walls of the Kremlin line the length of one side; halfway along lies Lenin’s tomb and opposite is the lavish exterior of the Gosudarstvennyi Universalnyi Magazin shopping center (or GUM, as it’s referred to, thank God). The architectural marvel of Saint Basil’s Cathedral stands at the south end, with the State History Museum at the other. Even though the foreboding structures radiate a rouge pastel hue into every corner of the square, there is a sense of openness. No-doubt there was a somewhat different atmosphere when thousands of Soviet soldiers goose-stepped through the square. Interestingly, the Russian army still marches like this today.

Walking around central Moscow, history oozes from every spire and pillar. Buildings seem to lean over as you walk past, as if peering down on whoever dares to enter these austere places. For every moment or event in Russian history, there is a dedicated museum.

The quality of each museum is notably high. In particular, the Armory inside the Kremlin holds astonishing collections of royal carriages from across the world and throughout the ages. The world-renowned Fabergé Eggs are displayed here too.

Having wandered around for so long during the day, we had no time to eat before attending the Ballet that evening. Sitting in the Bolshoi, the long day began to catch up with me.

It is now that I must make a confession: while attending a performance by one of the world’s greatest ballet companies, I fell asleep.

Thankfully, I woke up later in the second half and was treated to the final leaps and prances of Shostakovich’s The Bright Stream. As someone who is not a ballet aficionado, that was probably enough.

Feeling significantly perkier afterward, a late dinner was in order. Just behind the Bolshoi is VOGUE Café , a gastronomic outpost of the famous magazine. It claimed to serve an eclectic mix of Japanese, Italian and Russian dishes. Intrigued, we entered.

Adventurously, we accepted the offer of some Russian wine. Full bodied and berried, it was delicious. Our evident surprise led the waitress to explain that Russian food and drink has improved hugely over the last few years. As it turns out, since the United States and the European Union placed sanctions on Russia after their annexation of Crimea, food imports have been scarce. As a result, Russian producers have been forced to meet the demand and quality expected today. As a result, Siberian wines and cheeses now win awards around the globe.

When we left the restaurant, it was late. Only a day had passed, yet we had filled every minute with history, culture and food. The next three days followed a similar format and we continued to make our way down the list of museums and sights. A boat ride along the river is a must-do for alternative views of the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Afterwards, sit on the rooftop Strelka bar opposite the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and watch the 3-mile-long line of pilgrims move slowly forward.

On the third day, we were due to board an overnight train to Saint Petersburg, but there was still so much left to do. Truth be told, it was probably too much for another three days, let alone one.

Nonetheless, I was satisfied. Moscow had revealed itself to be a fascinating and impressive city. While the city infrastructure isn’t as up-to-date as most capitals, the needs of every modern traveler can be met. It certainly isn’t the cold and unfriendly place envisioned by most in the west. Moscow’s winning attribute is its omnipresent sense of untouched history. This is a feature that is so often lost amongst hordes of tourists in Europe’s capitals.

It goes to show: what we hear about places we haven’t been in the news or through general hearsay, we can formulate pretty strong prejudices in our mind. While the political realities may still be ugly, by visiting, you can learn to separate and appreciate the everyday, the culture and the history of a place. On one side of a great red wall in central Moscow, a tyrannical leader works. On the other side, wholly separated, lies a magnificent Red Square where an overwhelming sense of history reveals the essence of Moscow and of Russia. And it is truly remarkable.

Where do you want to go?

FAQs for Russia

Q. where should i shop in moscow.

A. Moscow has huge shopping malls that vie for first place with the local street markets. So while you can find almost anything at the malls, for the more authentic items, such as junk jewelry, handicrafts, spices, toys, visit the street stalls.

Q. What can I buy in Saint Petersburg?

A. If you feel inclined, then real and faux fur are pretty cheap here, and they are really great quality. Or you can pick up souvenirs such as magnets, postcards, paintings of bottles of vodka.

Q. What are the main dishes of Russia?

A. Russian cuisine is all about high-protein ingredients, so expect a lot of cottage cheese, eggs, fish and meat. Three dishes that you absolutely shouldnt miss include:

  • Bliny: A thin crepe, stuffed with your choice of fillings
  • Sirniki: Special cottage cheese stuffed bliny
  • Pelmeni: Dumplings made of fish or meat

Q. Can we increase the stay in a particular city on this trip?

A. Yes, you can increase the duration of this package, but make sure to request such changes well in advance to the travel agent or the tour operator, so that no last minute problems arise.

Q. What sort of nightlife does Saint Petersburg have?

A. The nightlife of Saint Petersburg is definitely something that you would want to be a part of. There are plenty of rocking clubs and discos, which do a roaring business all through the night, especially in the Fontanka river embankment area, which also offers tremendous views.
