Monza ready to welcome the “Boss” and his fans: appointment on 25 July 2023 at the Circuit

The announcement of the Italian dates of Bruce Springsteen’s 2023 tour has held the bench since this morning among the numerous fans of the Boss and his music. 2023, therefore, will see the return of the Boss among his fans who, after the Italian dates in Ferrara and Rome, will close with the Monza stage on 25 July 2023. The protagonist of the great gathering will be the Prato della Gerascia, inside the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, which has already welcomed major international events and concerts in past years.

“We strongly wanted to propose a great event in the city after the dark years of the pandemic and this offer seemed immediately to be grasped: the universal language of music will turn the spotlight once again on our city and on its great desire to restart. – said the President of the Villa Reale and Parco Consortium, the Mayor Dario Allevi – The identified area has already shown that it can host international concerts and in any case we will implement all the necessary measures to better protect the great green heritage of the Park. I would like to highlight the umpteenth success of the “Monza Model”: only through a fruitful collaboration with those who manage the racetrack has it been possible to achieve such a prestigious result. I am sure, at this point, that 25 July 2023 will be an evening to remember “.

According to the organizers, a special presale will be open for nominal tickets for the three Italian concerts of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band on the official authorized circuits Ticketone, Vivaticket and Ticketmaster, subject to availability of seats dedicated to the pre-sale. For the Monza date reservations will be active from 10 to 23:59 on Monday 30 May.

Alessandra Zinno , General Manager of Autodromo Nazionale Monza: “We are very happy that Bruce Springsteen wanted to play at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza and conclude his 2023 world tour with us, which will engage him from April to July with three Italian dates. The singer and his staff fell in love with our history and what the Temple of Speed stands for. It could not be otherwise for the artist of “Born to run”. The confirmation of such an important event once again enhances the work on which we have been concentrating for a few months to open the Circuit to opportunities that go beyond the world of Motorsport but which can also support it thanks to the notoriety they bring. I would like to thank the Mayor and the Municipality of Monza who believed in the project and allowed the first contacts with the organizers and all our staff and stakeholders of the Circuit, who are managing new challenges with great teamwork to make the most of the opportunities. that are offered by these appointments. The Formula 1 Grand Prix will mark record numbers in terms of attendance of fans in the stands and we expect a good response also for the Endurance races in July, for which the box office was opened yesterday. The Springsteen concert will be one of the flagship events in the cycle of celebrations for the Autodrome’s Centenary, which will begin in September and end the following year and further evidence of how our Autodrome is no longer just the Temple of Speed but also the Temple of Records which achieves results in every field, thus becoming a place of entertainment at 360 degrees “.

UPDATED: Springsteen announces 2023 European dates, U.S. to come

Full release, via brucespringsteen.net :

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will mark their return to the road in early February, 2023 with a string of to-be-announced US arena dates, followed by European stadium shows kicking off on April 28th in Barcelona and a second North American tour leg starting in August.

Said Springsteen: “After six years, I’m looking forward to seeing our great and loyal fans next year. And I’m looking forward to once again sharing the stage with the legendary E Street Band. See you out there, next year — and beyond.”

The planned European stops are Barcelona, Dublin, Paris, Ferrara, Rome, Amsterdam, Landgraaf, Zurich, Düsseldorf, Gothenburg, Oslo, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Vienna, Munich and Monza. Additional cities and shows in the UK and Belgium will be announced at a later date.

These 2023 dates will mark the first live shows for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band since the conclusion of their 14-month, worldwide The River Tour in Australia in February, 2017. The River Tour was named 2016’s top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band last reconnected to perform on Saturday Night Live in December 2020, where they launched live versions of two songs from their most recent studio album ‘Letter To You’ (Columbia Records), which reached #1 in eleven countries and marked the band’s first time recording live together in decades. Last year, Springsteen unveiled his never-before-released “The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts” film, collaborated with President Barack Obama on the book ‘Renegades: Born In The USA’ and reprised his record setting show ‘Springsteen On Broadway’ to help reopen New York City theaters last summer.

The E Street Band’s members are: Roy Bittan – piano, synthesizer; Nils Lofgren – guitar, vocals; Patti Scialfa – guitar, vocals; Garry Tallent – bass guitar; Stevie Van Zandt – guitar, vocals; and Max Weinberg – drums; with Soozie Tyrell – violin, guitar, vocals; Jake Clemons – saxophone; and Charlie Giordano – keyboards.

Bruce Springsteen has announced he is going on tour in the UK – for the first time in six years.

As part of the American icon’s 2023 tour, Springsteen, along with the E Street Band, will play in Edinburgh in May and Birmingham in June, before two dates at next year’s Hyde Park British Summer Time festival in July.

And although summer 2023 might seem like an excruciatingly long time to wait, fans of Springsteen need to get organised now: tickets go on sale next Thursday.

The 2023 tour is Springsteen’s first global excursion in six years. It begins in Florida in February next year and ends in Monza, Italy at the end of July. His trip to the UK capital will be his first time back in the city since he sold out Wembley Stadium in 2016.

Springsteen also did two “tours” in 2017-2018 and again in 2021, but these could be better regarded as residencies. Springsteen on Broadway saw the musician set up shop at first the Walter Kerr Theatre and then the St. James Theatre in New York , and he played as many as five shows a week.

Since his 2016 tour, the New Jersey singer has released two studio albums: 2019’s Western Stars and 2020’s Letter to You. He has also delivered two live albums: 2018’s Springsteen on Broadway and 2021’s The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts.

He also featured on the Bleachers’ 2020 single Chinatown, The Killers’ 2021 track Dustland and John Mellencamp’s 2021 Wasted Days.

Last month Springsteen surprised fans by popping up during Paul McCartney ’s headlining set at Glastonbury . He played his 1985 song Glory Days from the album Born in the U.S.A. He also played The Beatles ’ I Wanna Be Your Man with McCartney.

Springsteen, who is now 72 years old, is one of the originators of the heartland rock genre which is now one of America’s most recognisable. He has released 20 studio albums, been awarded 20 Grammys , has sold more than 135 million records and has been on 18 headlining tours, the first of which began in 1974.

In an interview with the New York Times in October 2020, Springsteen, who has acquired the nickname “The Boss”, said: “I’m at a point in my playing life and artistic life where I’ve never felt as vital.

Bruce Springsteen - MONZA - Parco - 25/Jul/2023 - FULL SHOW

Bruce Springsteen - MONZA - Parco - 25/Jul/2023 - FULL SHOW

The concert began with a bang, as Springsteen and the band launched into a high-energy rendition of "Born to Run." The crowd was immediately on their feet, and they remained that way for the duration of the show. Springsteen and the band played a mix of their classic hits and newer material, and they even threw in a few covers for good measure.

The highlight of the show was undoubtedly Springsteen's performance of "The River." The song is a long and sprawling epic, but Springsteen and the band brought it to life with their passion and energy. The crowd sang along every word, and it was a truly magical moment.

The concert ended with a rousing rendition of "Dancing in the Dark." The crowd was exhausted but happy, and they gave Springsteen and the band a standing ovation. It was a fitting end to a truly memorable night.

All you need to know about Springsteen in Belfast

Born in the USA but loved the world over - Bruce Springsteen is coming to (lucky) town.

The European leg of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band 2024 World Tour kicks off in Cardiff on 5 May, with Belfast the second stop on the tour.

The Boss has played on the island of Ireland about 30 times in his five-decade career.

His first Irish concert was in Slane Castle in County Meath on June 1985 as part of his Born In The USA tour.

That gig saw his biggest ever audience at the time, with a crowd of more than 65,000 making their way to the venue.

Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend and Elvis Costello were among the crowd.

Fast forward almost 40 years and 2024 has already been a busy year - with a world tour, a Curb Your Enthusiasm appearance and Nebraska album film announced.

When is Bruce Springsteen coming to Belfast?

The Born to Run singer is coming to Boucher Playing Fields on Thursday, 9 May.

He will play to about 40,000 people.

He'll then make his way to the Republic of Ireland, with a date in Kilkenny at KK UPMC Nowlan Park on 12 May; in Cork where he's at SuperValu Pairc Ui Chaoimh, on 16 May; before he heads up to Dublin where he is playing Croke Park on 19 May.

Who is supporting Bruce Springsteen?

There are no support acts- Springsteen will go on stage at 19:00 BST sharp on 9 May.

The gates to the playing fields open at 17:00.

Where are Boucher Playing Fields?

The playing fields are off the Boucher Road in south Belfast, backing on to the Westlink.

They are a short walk from the Lisburn Road and Stockman's Lane.

Have tickets sold out for Belfast?

Unusually, no.

There was some controversy over the price of tickets for his Belfast gig, which retailed at £126.

Tickets went on sale on 7 November and while the Cork and Kilkenny shows were sold out in 90 minutes, Belfast and Croke Park were slower sellers.

Fans were warned to look out for "bogus sellers" offering tickets to the gig.

The last time he was in Belfast in 2013, he entertained a crowd of about 25,000 people at the King's Hall and tickets were priced from £55.

Is there a bus or transport to the Bruce Springsteen gig in Belfast?

There are a number of special bus and rail services that have been put on for the gig by Translink, both for getting to Belfast and the Boucher Road.

There is a special bus to the playing fields from Foyleside bus centre in Londonderry, which leaves at 16:30 and picks up in Drumahoe, Claudy, Dungiven, Maghera and Toome.

Tickets are available to buy online until 13:00 on the day of the concert.

The bus will go back to Derry at 23:30 and customers need to be back to the coach at least 15 minutes before it leaves.

If you want to take a train you can get any Bangor, Coleraine, Larne or Portadown line service to Balmoral Train Station.

To get home, shuttle services will operate between 22:45 and 23:45 from Balmoral Train Station to Belfast's Great Victoria Street Station.

There will also be trains stopping at selected stops on the Portadown line.

Onward rail travel from Great Victoria Street is available to Larne Harbour at 23:25, Bangor at 23:57 and Coleraine at 23:45.

Translink says customers who want to catch these onward connections are advised to leave sufficient time to transfer between Balmoral and Great Victoria Street on the shuttle services.

From Belfast city centre the 90/92/92A or B buses go that way.

The venue strongly advises the use of public transport because of traffic and parking delays.

There will be no parking, drop off or collections in the immediate area of the concert site.

Traffic will be diverted away from roads around the concert site.

Road closures will be in place from 22:30 BST on each night on Boucher Road, Stockman's Lane and off slips at Stockman's Lane.

Will there be road closures?

The PSNI will enact temporary road or lane closures as required before and after the show on Boucher Road and Stockman's Lane.

They've said they intend to keep traffic disruption to a minimum.

Does Bruce Springsteen have a Belfast connection?

Yes, through his wife Patti Scialfa, whose mum is from the city.

The Boss also has a wider connection to the island of Ireland.

The 73-year-old singer-songwriter's great-great-great-grandparents left Rathangan in County Kildare for New Jersey in 1853.

In May, he visited the town while playing a string of live shows in Ireland.

What's the weather going to be like for the Bruce Springsteen Belfast gig?

With one week to go predicting the weather can be tricky.

As all good weather presenters know, it's best to learn from the legendary BBC weatherman Michael Fish's infamous hurricane assurances and not make any promises.

Organisers advise sensible clothing and something waterproof to cover all eventualities.

Keep an eye on the BBC weather page for the latest updates.

Anything else I need to know before I head off to see The Boss?

Thursday is a busy day in Belfast, with late-night shopping, and the venue is near busy retail parks - so allow yourself plenty of time to get to the venue.

Download your tickets from your Ticketmaster account to your iPhone wallet/Google Pay wallet before show day.

Screenshots or printouts of digital tickets will not be accepted.  Organisers have said that early queuing will not to be allowed as the venue is near a residential area.

Organisers also have asked concert goers not to bring a bag unless it is absolutely necessary.

People without bags will be fast-tracked. If you must bring a bag it needs to be less than A4 size and it will be searched, which will mean queueing for longer.

No bags larger than A4 size will be allowed into the venue, nor will you be allowed to leave them unattended anywhere in or near the venue. No seating or any kind of umbrella will be permitted.

Bruce Springsteen in Cardiff 2024: Stage times, set list, banned items, road closures, support and more

The Boss aka Bruce Springsteen is back in Cardiff for the first time in 11 years with his E Street Band and we have all the information you need ahead of the gig

  • 10:11, 2 MAY 2024

bruce springsteen tour 2023 tickets monza

The legend that is Bruce Springsteen is heading back to Wales this weekend with his first gig in Cardiff for 11 years and for those who are going to the concert, and for those who just want to avoid road closures, we have all the information you need to know.

Kicking off the 2024 European leg, Bruce and the E Street Band, who have been performing together for more than five decades, will be at the Principality Stadium on Sunday, May 5 and questions like, where to park, or what time The Boss is on stage, all need to be answered ahead of having fun at the gig.

Unbelievably, The Boss and his E Street Band last performed in Cardiff in the summer of 2013. Before that, they played the Cardiff stadium in 2008. The legendary singer played a series of gigs in the UK in summer 2023, including at Hyde Park and Birmingham. But then Springsteen had to cut short his world tour due to suffering with symptoms of a peptic ulcer. Summer in Cardiff this year is going to be full of top music gigs. Read more here .

Is there a support act?

There is no support listed for Bruce, but that's no surprise. The shows are legendary and tend to go on for almost three hours on some occasions.

Are there tickets left?

There are still tickets left for the Sunday, May 5 concert and they are priced from £74.

Granted, it's still not easy on the bank account, but with a show that's going to be probably three hours long and full of high energy, super Springsteen hits and more , it's going to be worth it to be in the presence of one of the world's greatest ever rock stars. Now these £74.60 are available from Ticketmaster and there are plenty left, but, just to include all the information, they are on the side, block U32 to be exact, so you won't be able to see the show full frontal and they are sold as having an "obstructed view".

Last year, we went to Harry Styles' Principality Stadium gig last minute and chanced a side seat, with "obstructed view" and here's our verdict on the seats - which this time were even further over in block U33. With different show and stage set ups the experience will be different to Harry Styles. Ticketmaster also have fan-to-fan resale tickets too.

Sites such as Viagogo allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans, with the former having resale tickets starting at £64.

However, it is important to note that many event promoters say tickets should not be resold after initial purchase and will not be valid for admittance to gigs.

Fans attending live events with tickets acquired through resale websites are advised to double check the ticket terms and conditions at the point of sale - such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation - to ensure a smooth live event experience. Tickets could be voided if they were found to be bought second-hand. As a result, fans are buying at their own risk. With that said, viagogo also commented: "viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the guarantee."

Passion, booze, madness and comradeship: Bruce Springsteen’s special relationship with Ireland

A new chapter in that friendship opens as the boss returns for an all-ireland tour with dates in belfast, kilkenny, cork and dublin.

The closing notes of Thunder Road echoed over Slane Castle like the rumble of gathering storm clouds. As the music faded, Bruce Springsteen walked offstage for a scheduled intermission. He wasn’t sure he wanted to come back.

“I thought somebody was going to get killed, and it’d be my fault,” Springsteen recalled in Born to Run, his biography from 2016. “The crowd closest [to the front] were deeply into their Guinness and dangerously swaying from left to right. They were opening up gaping holes among themselves as audience members by the dozens fell to the muddy ground, vanishing for unbearable seconds ’til righted once again by their neighbours.”

It was June 1st, 1985, and Springsteen and the E Street Band were kicking off their largest-ever European tour in front of a crowd of more than 65,000 in Co Meath. To those who were there, the gig would be remembered as an epoch-defining rite of passage – a rare bright point amid the downpour of misery that was 1980s Ireland. Yet, for Springsteen, a break midway through the performance – between Thunder Road and Cover Me – couldn’t arrive soon enough.

[  Foo Fighters, Oasis, U2, the Rolling Stones and more: Slane’s 15 greatest acts – in reverse order  ]

He feared someone might die, if not at Slane then later, during his sell-out run of dates across Europe. He had always been a hugely driven performer since emerging from the comparative backwater of suburban New Jersey in the late 1960s. But never had it occurred to him that success could lead to this: looking out at a sea of people, wondering if someone at the front might stumble, fall and not get back up.

“I could not face what was happening in front of the stage at Slane on a nightly basis,” he wrote. “It was irresponsible and violated the protective instinct for my audience I prided myself on.”

Backstage, he went into a huddle with his manager Jon Landau, the former Rolling Stone journalist who, in 1974, had proclaimed, “I saw rock and roll future, and its name is Bruce Springsteen.”

Springsteen wanted to pull the plug. Not just on Slane but on the entire European tour. It was, of course, unthinkable that he could quit in such a fashion halfway through a concert. Who knew what might happen? Springsteen ultimately emerged for the second portion of the set. He relaxed as the sun went down, watched by an attendance that included Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend and Elvis Costello.

“The crowd settled during the second half of the Slane show and I observed there was a sketchy but ritual orderliness to what appeared from the stage to be pure chaos. The crowd protected one another,” he recalled. “If you fell, the nearest person to your left or right reached down, grabbed an arm and pulled you upright.”

Passion, booze, madness and comradeship: so began Springsteen’s special relationship with Ireland. A new chapter in that friendship opens this month as he returns for an all-Ireland tour that will feature dates in Kilkenny, Cork and Dublin after starting in Belfast on Thursday. Springsteen, who is 74, won’t be on the road forever, and this latest Irish run might be among the few remaining chances to see a rock icon in the flesh.

“Slane was my Bruce awakening,” says Jon Jones, bassist with the Springsteen tribute band The Human Touch, who play the Springnuts Bruce Springsteen festival on Tory Island, in Co Donegal, this weekend.

His memories of Slane are less dramatic than the recollections of the singer himself. “Standing in an open field with 100,000 people” – estimates of the attendance vary wildly – “is not something your brain can comprehend. People forget how big he was for those few years in the 1980s. Bruce Springsteen was a household name. It was Bruce, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Queen.”

[  Springsteen on camera: ‘Bruce would scream and yell at people. It was all respectful. It was just frustration’  ]

Jones isn’t the only one for whom Slane burns brightly – not as a fond musical memory but as a life milestone. “My boyfriend – five years older – had tickets. I was definitely not allowed to go. At school, none of my friends were allowed to go,” recalls Sheila Burton, an artist based in Wexford, who was 17 at the time. She is a lifelong Springsteen devotee who will be up front in Belfast when Springsteen takes to the stage at Boucher Road.

“Did that stop me? Of course not. He was my hero; he understood me, his songs were about my life, and he was completely gorgeous. Threatening to leave home if my parents didn’t change their minds, I boarded a bus bound for Slane on a sunny Saturday in June with my hopes and dreams and my 22-year-old boyfriend.”

Her memories have faded slightly with time, but the emotions “remain vivid, as if the experience happened just yesterday”. She talks about the sun blazing down and the huge crowd surging forward. “I stood near the stage, the firemen spraying us with water, and then he appeared, Born in the USA blasting.”

Four decades later Springsteen is still one of rock’s most potent forces. He played to a combined European audience of more than 1.6 million last year, while his latest tour has grossed $379 million so far, behind only Taylor Swift and Beyoncé (and ahead of Coldplay) in the past 12 months.

“The reason that his music has such an emotional impact on his fans is that they see themselves in him. His persona has always been that of the regular guy. You always get the feeling that he is enjoying the performance as much as the fans are. He is, himself, first and foremost a fan,” says Nigel Brothers, The Human Touch’s singer. “His music is a combination of everything that went before him, from Elvis Presley to Bob Dylan, from Chuck Berry to James Brown, from Buddy Holly to The Beatles, and from Roy Orbison to the Stones and The Animals. It’s music for the heart, the soul, the mind and the feet.”

Springsteen has a rich legacy of recorded work: the blood and thunder of Born to Run, the big-sky melancholy of Nebraska and the blue-jean pop-rock of Born in the USA, the LP that finally brought him to Ireland. But the singer’s music takes on a new dimension under the spotlight, as anyone who witnessed his extraordinary shows at the RDS in Dublin in May 2023 will testify.

[  Bruce Springsteen at the RDS: A masterful and poignant performance, with a jarring final note  ]

“I’m really lucky to have seen Bruce up to 50 times in various countries across the world, and it never, ever gets boring,” says Hannah Summers of Hungry Heart, the Springsteen club night that is holding an after-party following the singer’s gig at Croke Park. “That’s partly from his performance style but also the changing set lists. There’s a sort of safe unpredictability from being at his concerts – the thrill of not knowing what you’re going to get next, but that guarantee that you’ll be happy with it.”

His upbringing in New Jersey perhaps makes his music especially resonant with Irish audiences: Springsteen, who during his time here last year visited Rathangan , in Co Kildare, where his great-great-great-grandfather grew up before emigrating to New Jersey, in 1853, sings about wanting to escape the stifling boredom of small-town life and head off into the great unknown.

“If you think back to Ireland in the late 1970s and early 1980s, there was very little hope of a future for the youth at that time. Between the Troubles and high unemployment, emigration was the order of the day,” says Brothers. “So you could see how relatable songs like … Born to Run and Thunder Road” – his two great anthems of escape – “could be. Bruce was from an Irish-Italian background [though his father was of Dutch heritage] and he was raised a Catholic, and that played a big part in his writing through his career. The religious imagery, morality and struggle were ever present in his work. There is no doubt in my mind that this subconsciously resonated with his Irish fans.”

[  Where’s Bruce? Springsteen born to run all over town  ]

Springsteen approaches touring with near-spiritual fervour, though he has also been upfront about the challenges of putting on a knockout show every night.

“Performing is like sprinting while screaming for three, four minutes,” he told the New Yorker in 2012. “And then you do it again. And then you do it again. And then you walk a little, shouting the whole time. And so on. Your adrenaline quickly overwhelms your conditioning.”

He had perfect clarity, however, about why he continues to give everything to his audience. Rock’n’roll for Springsteen is a kind of freedom.

“For an adult, the world is constantly trying to clamp down on itself,” he said. “Routine, responsibility, decay of institutions, corruption: this is all the world closing in. Music, when it’s really great, pries that shit back open and lets people back in, it lets light in, and air in, and energy in, and sends people home with that and sends me back to the hotel with it. People carry that with them sometimes for a very long period of time.”

The objective has always been the same: to play until everyone was ready to drop – not the musicians but the audience.

bruce springsteen tour 2023 tickets monza

“We had a saying,” Springsteen’s saxophone player Clarence Clemons told Rolling Stone in 1986 as the E Street Band looked back on Slane. (Clemons died in 2011, his place in the E Street Band taken by his nephew Jake.) “Are they still on their feet? Yeah, let’s go back and get ’em. Can they still raise their hands? If they can, we haven’t done our job.’ When we finally saw the guys in the front row falling, lying over each other, then we said, ‘Okay, they’ve had enough. Let’s go home.’”

Springsteen was full of life at the RDS last year. Yet the shadow of mortality hung over the evening, too. In one moving anecdote he talked about the band he had formed as a teenager in New Jersey and noted that he was the only member still alive. The performance finished with I’ll See You in My Dreams, a meditation on growing older and what comes next. “Death is not the end,” Springsteen sang with gut-punching poignancy. Then the lights went out.

“He’s had close friends pass away much younger than they should have, but ... perhaps he’s at the point where he’s considering how long he may have left,” says Hannah Summers. “I think becoming a grandparent, which he was fairly recently, must put that into sharp focus too.”

“The shows have been extremely emotional,” agrees Brothers, who says this latest Irish tour is sure to become a cherished memory for Springsteen fans – much like Slane in 1985. “Every time I get to see him – 28 times and counting – I always fear that it might be the last. Someday I will be right. So let’s enjoy it while we still can.”

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band play Boucher Road, Belfast, on Thursday, May 9th; Nowlan Park, Kilkenny, on Sunday, May 12th; Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork, on Thursday, May 16th; and Croke Park, Dublin, on Sunday, May 19th

Bruce Springsteen in Croke Park: ‘He has an affinity to these shores’

Bruce Springsteen in Croke Par...

Bruce Springsteen ‘has an affinity’ with Ireland, according to the operator of his Croke Park gig later this year.

‘The Boss’ will be playing in the home of GAA on May 19th, the last of a run of four gigs in Ireland that includes dates in Belfast, Kilkenny, and Cork.

At a press briefing today, Aiken Promotions head of operations Shane Mates said the 74-year-old rockstar can’t get enough of Ireland.

“It’s been 40 years now since he’s been coming here,” he said.

“He and the band love being here and long may they continue to come here.

“He has an affinity to these shores, it’s his second home.”

Croke Park stadium director Peter McKenna said he is one of the “great acts”.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing one of the greatest acts,” he said.

“He’s starting at seven o’clock and there’s no back-up.

“The man, I don’t know where he gets his energy from, but he’ll give it everything, that’s for sure - it will be a great night for all those who are here.”

The stadium is set to open at 5pm on the day and the public is being urged not to bring their cars into the city, but to avail of public transport instead.

The music is set to begin at 7pm and is expected to last for three hours.

The public is being asked to respect the residents and their property on May 19th – and a resident liaison officer has been appointed to manage their concerns.

Bruce Springsteen last played in Dublin in May 2023, with three sell-out gigs at the RDS.

His European tour that year sold over 1.6 million tickets.
