Itineraries
Brindisi, italy.
Known as the “Gateway to the East,” Brindisi is one of the largest cities in Italy’s Apulia region and one of the most active trading hubs in the country. Located on the Adriatic coast of Southern Italy, Brindisi will greet you with its crystal-clear waters and historic city views. After the bombings of World War II, the city spent many years rebuilding and now hosts a unique mix of historic and contemporary architecture, including churches and castles like Castello Alfonsino, the Church of Santa Maria del Casale, Santa Maria del Casale, and the Forte a Mare Castle. Beautiful beaches, like Lido Azzurro and Torre Guaceto, are also close by and will offer you a great place to relax.
Bordeaux (Pauillac), France
A destination for wine-lovers, food-lovers, and city ramblers, southern French city and wine region Bordeaux will offer you much more than only its famous red wine. With stunning classical, neo-classical, and urban architecture, historical monuments, incredible art museums, and a buzzing dining and drinking scene, this port city and UNESCO World Heritage site rivals the likes of Paris.
Kavala, Greece
Tucked into the northeastern coast of mainland Greece, just below the Bulgarian border, the hillside city of Kavala overlooks the Aegean Sea and is the main seaport of eastern Macedonia. Kavala will offer you a surprising mix of history, culture, and architecture—archeological sites, monuments, cobblestone streets, wooden balconies lined with flowers, colorful palaces, and hilltop fortresses—as well as diverse landscapes like lush wetlands, lagoons, inland lakes, beaches, and diverse flora and fauna.
Trieste, Italy
Old-World Trieste—a city that draws attention from travelers around the world—sits at a northeastern corner of Italy and brings together the Latin, Slavic, and Germanic cultures of the Adriatic Sea. The Roman and Byzantine empires ruled here once upon a time, and their influences can be seen in the different types of architecture of the cityscape. You can experience Trieste's many cultures through its cozy coffeehouses, seafood restaurants, open-air plazas, Old World churches, and museums.
Volos, Greece
Volos, Greece's newest port city, is located at the foot of Mount Pelion and the innermost point of the Pagasetic Gulf. As an important industrial center and bridge between Europe and Asia, this lively seafront destination offers you many things to discover—local cultural activities, museums, cafes, restaurants, and an exciting nightlife area. You will also enjoy its unique architecture, nearby lush mountain ranges, and golden beaches.

Why Cruise in Europe
Cruising vs Land Vacations
The value of vacation.
Revel in first-class experiences without the first-class price tag. On a European cruise, unpack once and save on transportation and baggage fees as well as dining and entertainment costs. Independent land travel through Europe adds up fast — between accommodations, restaurants, train travel, taxis and more. But with Princess, you can spend more time exploring Europe and less time checking into your next hotel.
Experience Different Seasons of Europe
Sail into the season.
See the many faces of the world with seasonal European cruise sailings from Princess. In the spring, shop France’s colorful outdoor markets for hand-crafted souvenirs. Frolic through Norway’s landscapes when they fully bloom in summer. Or visit Italy in the fall to taste the first wines of the season.
Sail Aboard Our Newest Ships
Your best-in-class travel companion.
Built in Italy, our newest ships first set sail in international waters for their inaugural season. On a European cruise, you can be one of the first to travel aboard these vessels, adding a whole new level of excitement and opportunity to your trip. Plus these are the first ships designed with Princess® MedallionClass®, making them the best European cruises at sea.
See Famous Landmarks
Where history books come alive.
Between the castles, towers and ruins, Europe is teeming with ancient architecture. On a European cruise, sail into Le Havre and choose to visit the beaches of Normandy or ascend the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Walk through the Colosseum in Rome, and stop by Livorno to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Or explore hidden gems — like Belfast’s Giant’s Causeway.
A Vacation for Every Generation
Adventures for all.
In Europe, there are activities for all. With exciting tours through age-old cities, kids can see textbooks come to life and return with their own stories to tell. Parents can relish in romance and relaxation amidst fairytale landscapes, and grandparents can relive stories of memories past with their loved ones. Whether on board or ashore, find activities created with every type of guest in mind on a cruise to Europe.
Enjoy the Convenience of Cruising
Travel reimagined.
See multiple international cities without the hassle of transportation or additional planning. Cruise from one destination to the next with world-class entertainment, fresh food and relaxing accommodations at your fingertips. When you return to the ship, continue your exploration with unique activities and global cuisine, or enjoy the familiar comforts of home with your favorite foods — all on our best European cruise ships.
European Cruise Excursions
From thrilling kayak voyages in Flåm to relaxing beach days in Mykonos, find shore excursions that match every guest’s preference with Princess. Rhine Experience Amsterdam & Rotterdam 2024
Castles along the Rhine (2024) (Amsterdam to Basel, 2024)
The Romantic Rhine Valley and the Rock of Lorelei (port-to-port cruise)
I was going to send this via email, and perhaps still will, but for now, will copy and paste here: Well.... First let me say that the host and all the staff were wonderful — very genial, helpful, conscientious. They did everything they could to make the cruise nice. They were very willing to speak other languages, including English, and they did so well. It was particularly helpful that we could speak with host, servers, engineers, everyone. (We tried to speak French as well. :) It was nice. But there were many difficulties that were preventable: 1. Worst was that our room became damp and had a mildew smell. This is because the air conditioner was old and had been repaired at some point in the past with duct tape that was no longer functioning. It was leaking water that soaked the carpet near and under one of the single beds. For one day and night we had this wetness and mildew smell. We filled out a report (those cards are a good idea), at 4pm Saturday and someone came to repair it and wet-vacuum the floor at 9am on Sunday. It was clear that it had been a problem before. The chief engineer, Peter, was very professional in showing me the problem and repairing it. The reason this was a more significant problem is that my mother, who was staying in the room with me, has had recent surgeries for mold/fungal infections in the nose. 2. The top 1/3 of the ship was not accessible to passengers and instead was used as a storage area. 3. One of the exit doors (from the bar area to the outside fore deck) could not open from the outside going in — someone had to physically pry the doors apart in order to come in. 4. The ship is advertised as having wi-fi/wlan. However, it often did not work, or worked so slowly that pages didn’t load. Again, this may not ordinarily be a big problem. However, some people have to keep up with work and choose a cruise option for this reason. Or, as in our case, our cell phone service didn’t work, so I needed to use the WiFi to download maps for travel, book our next accommodation, purchase tickets, etc. In fact, it has gotten worse since I wrote this. I have been trying to book our next room for a day now, and I haven’t been able to connect long enough to fill out the forms online! Other things were not problems, just things that could be done differently and perhaps better (based on experience with other lines): -Food: It was delicious and well-prepared. Offering two choices for each meal would be helpful. There was also *a lot* of wasted food, because most people (especially the older folks on the ship I noticed) couldn’t possibly eat as much as was served. Having (just 1-2) choices of portion-size or meal, or making one-two meals ‘buffet-style,’ could help. -Because we were often ‘late’ arriving at various destinations, it wasn’t convenient to leave and return for our meal. Some lines offer boxed meals if passengers request them ahead of time. -Having games available for borrowing would be very nice, especially on cruises such as ours that ended up being rainy! -Provide some printed information in languages other than French for little introductions to (or short ‘guided’ walks) to the destination locations. That way the poor guides don’t have to translate a lot of info into multiple languages. (They were willing, but the French passengers were impatient....)
Classic Rhine cruise (Basel-Amsterdam) MS Crucevita
The cruise was beautiful and very scenic especially the loreley strip. The restaurant staff were extremely friendly and warm. Special mention of Ida, Kenan and Sugana . The rest of the crew were very accommodating too. The tour leader Jessica and Jordi was super and helpful although we were the only few English speakers she made us feel included. On the whole it was a very beautiful experience although the rooms are a bit old design and the boat is not a very new but the staff were phenomenal .
Splendours of Europe (Start Amsterdam, End Budapest)
The program in the Emerald ship was magnificently planned and discussed. The local music during the cruise was so informative. Long live the music from the Netherlands and Germany through Austria and Slovakya to Hungary! Just for the music, dances and songs I will do the cruise again!
Legendary Rhine Cruise (Mainz-Amsterdam) MS Crucevita

Romantic Rhine From Frankfurt to Koblenz | Self-Guided | Germany
The tour was amazing—so much to see along the Mainz and Rhine. My ebike was perfect. We especially loved the stop at Oberwesel. Such a lovely unique hotel.
Castles along the Rhine (2024) (Basel to Amsterdam SS Victoria, 2024)
Very nice trip. Your were OK with a few standouts like the vinegar tasting. Wish there had been more lectures and cultures talks. The one about modern German attitudes was particularly fascinating.
What people love about Rhine River Cruises in May
A great tour of the best part of the Rhine. We were the only english speaking people on the tour but the Company went out of their way to accommodate us. Highly recommended.

Cruise ship carrying 1,500 passengers stuck in Spain port due to Bolivian passengers’ visa problems

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — A cruise ship reportedly carrying 1,500 passengers was stuck Wednesday in the Spanish northeastern port of Barcelona due to the visa problems of a group of Bolivian passengers who were due to disembark there, officials said.
Authorities say 69 Bolivians are not being allowed to leave the ship because they lack valid documents to enter the European border-free Schengen area.
Spanish government officials in the city said they are in contact with Bolivian authorities and the MSC Cruises Company to resolve the situation. The ship had sailed from Brazil to cover a route in the Mediterranean Sea.
Spanish state news agency Efe and other media said that some 1,500 passengers were meanwhile on board the MSC Armony hoping to continue the cruise to Croatia.
A statement from the Bolivian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said the Bolivian Embassy in Spain and the country’s Consulate General in Barcelona “are carrying out the pertinent steps to address this case,” coordinating with Spanish authorities, as well as with the MSC Cruises Company.
MSC Cruises said in a statement the Bolivians included families and children.
It said the “passengers appeared to have proper documentation upon boarding in Brazil. We have been informed by the authorities that the visas are not valid for entry into the Schengen area. As a result, passengers have not been able to disembark in Barcelona, which was their final destination.”
The company said the ship remained in port while it works with authorities to facilitate the process.
The Schengen area is an ID-check-free travel zone comprising 29 European countries, most from the European Union.
This story corrects that the Schengen zone is European, instead of European Union, and comprises 29 countries.

Cradles of Creativity
Packed with spectacular age-old landmarks and grand architecture, history comes thick and fast in the Western Med and the Adriatic. Journeying through Italy, wonder at the Colosseum and Pantheon - ancient reminders of Rome’s time as world’s largest empire - and wander Pompeii’s ruins, frozen-in-time after Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in 79AD. Against the bold blues and powder-white sands of the Adriatic, admire Slovenia’s Venetian-influenced buildings, the 4th-century pizazz of Split’s Diocletian's Palace, Dubrovnik’s dramatic Old Town, and Montenegro’s mighty forts. Whether genning up on the Knights of Malta in Valletta, discovering Napoleon’s childhood in Corsica, cruising along the French Riviera to Mallorca - where Arab and Balearic influences meet - or reveling in Gaudi’s masterpieces in Barcelona, you’ll be enthralled by history at every stop on this story-filled vacation.
The legacy of the Renaissance - a cultural movement borne in 14th-century Italy, which spread throughout Europe shaping intellectual life, art, architecture and the arts can be seen in abundance as you travel through the region’s most extraordinary cities. Discover the mind-blowing art of the Renaissance masters at Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice and Rome’s Galleria Borghese, a 17th-century villa which houses art, sculptures and antiquities. See first-hand why Michelangelo’s dreamy ceiling frescoes at the Sistine Chapel, and the famed corridors of Florentine mega-museum The Uffizzi deserve a spot on every art-lover’s bucket list. Just as compelling are Kotor’s Maritime Museum, which reveals the area’s fascinating seafaring history, and Malta’s National Museum of Archeology, which houses masses of prehistoric art and Neolithic pottery. Altogether more contemporary, is Cannes, renowned for its glamorous film festival.
A warm climate, fertile landscapes and teeming waters make for a rather delicious roll call as you sail through the Adriatic and the Western Mediterranean. Live La Dolce Vita - or sweet life - in Italy, where cafe culture reigns, and staples include fresh pasta, pizza, gelato , and lashings of olive oil and wine. Try pillowy-soft burrata cheese in Puglia, Sicilian eggplant and ricotta signature pasta alla norma , and classic Neopolitan-style Margherita pizza in its birthplace, Naples. Seafood’s a real Adriatic superstar; don’t miss Slovenian seafood rizota (risotto) - with a glass of local white rebula wine - and Dalmatian pašticada (beef stew) and rožata custard pudding in Croatia. Corsica’s signature civet de sanglier offers heartiness aplenty, while socca (chickpea pancakes) are a French Rivieran favorite, Marseille’s seafood bouillabaisse packs a liquorice-y kick thanks to fennel and pastis , while Barcelona excels at seafood paella and crema catalana , a Catalan take on creme brûlée.
Alongside a serious hit of history and culture, awaken your senses exploring the region’s sun-soaked beaches, crystal-clear bays and breathtaking volcanic, forested landscapes. Take invigorating dips in Bari’s bays or sun yourself on Torre Sant’Andrea whilst admiring its dramatic sea stacks. Dubrovnik’s an adventure junkie’s dream; try cliff diving, kayaking, or scuba dive to see the Taranto wreck, and its quirky submerged tractors. Get your heart rate going hiking in Portofino Regional Park’s lush network of trails, and wonder at Mount Etna’s volcanic vineyards and lava pits in Sicily. For more natural thrills, travel to Corsica’s Scandola Nature Reserve to spot eagles soaring over stunning rock formations, or discover the Cuevas del Drach - Mallorca’s dragon caves - an underground lair full of limestone stalactites and stalagmites.

Insider tips Good to know in every situation
When visiting religious sites such as churches, mosques or synagogues, dress modestly, particularly in the Middle East. Opt for long sleeves, and keep your shoulders, back and legs covered. A lightweight scarf or sarong can come in handy as a makeshift headscarf or coverup, which can be easily thrown on at the last minute if it’s unexpectedly required.
Sprawling ancient marvels and Europe’s cobblestone-lined, often narrow city streets are best explored on foot. To ensure you make the most of things, pack a well-worn-in pair of comfortable shoes, and some trusty blister plasters, just in case.
Temperatures in the Middle East and the Med can really soar, plus there’s plenty of time spent on beaches and in the desert on this segment, so invest in a decent wide-brimmed hat, eco-friendly sunscreen, and keep a refillable bottle of water with you as you explore.

Spain Bars Bolivians From Disembarking Cruise Ship Amid Lack of Visas
MSC Armonia docks in Barcelona's Port, Spain, April 3, 2024. REUTERS/Albert Gea
BARCELONA (Reuters) - Spanish authorities have barred around 70 Bolivian nationals from disembarking a cruise ship in Barcelona due to a lack of EU entry visas, preventing the ship with hundreds on board from continuing its journey until the situation was resolved.
The cruise ship, MSC-Armonia, which began its journey in Brazil, arrived in Barcelona early on Tuesday and was scheduled to leave for Corsica off the French coast later that day, according to passengers' accounts and specialised maritime websites.
The Bolivian passengers had "appeared to have appropriate documentation" when they boarded the vessel in Brazil, but their visas turned out to be invalid to enter the European Schengen area, MSC said.
Passengers were not allowed to leave the ship until noon on Wednesday and they had to show their passports beforehand, Paul Ibarguengoitia, 26, who was travelling with his parents and aunt and boarded the ship on Sunday in southern Spain, told Reuters.
"We have been told there will be some relevant information announced some time today but we were also told that yesterday," Ibarguengoitia said, fearing they would miss a planned vacation in Venice, Italy, following the cruise and a return flight due to the delays.
Four police vehicles were parked by the ship in the port and some passengers were seen leaving and entering it on Wednesday, a Reuters journalist said.

The Spanish government's Catalonia delegation said on Wednesday it was working with the police, Bolivian authorities and Swiss-Italian operator MSC Cruises to resolve the issue.
"The ship remains in the port while we are working with authorities in this complex process," MSC said in a statement, without providing a reason for the delay or the number of passengers affected.
Bolivia's foreign ministry said in a statement on Tuesday it was MSC's responsibility to check travel documents and come up with a solution, but it was working with authorities to resolve the situation.

Carnival Rides on Record Cruise Demand to Lift Annual Profit Forecast

(Reuters) - Carnival Corp raised its annual profit forecast on Wednesday, anticipating a record year of bookings as the company benefits from a rise in people seeking cruise vacations for the first time.
Cruise operators are recording all-time high booking rates as more travelers switch to cheaper sea-borne experiences over expensive land-based alternatives such as booking hotels or flights, providing them more room to raise prices.
U.S.-listed shares of the company were flat in volatile trading. They have risen about 94% in the last 12 months.
"The first quarter has been fantastic across the board," CEO Josh Weinstein said on a post-earnings call. "We delivered record bookings and record customer deposits again this quarter, a great start to the year."
The company's first-quarter revenue jumped 22% to $5.41 billion, roughly in line with analysts' expectations.
Bookings for the rest of 2024 remain the best year on record with total customer deposits reaching $7 billion in the first quarter, the company said. New-to-cruise customers surged more than 30% year-over-year, Carnival said.
Adjusted cruise costs, excluding fuel in constant currency, were up 7.3% in the first quarter from a year earlier, but 2% lower than the company's forecast.
"Unlike prior quarters that were revenue-driven beats, it was cost line items that drove the first-quarter beat," Truist Securities analyst Patrick Scholes said in a note.
However, cost improvements of more than $250 million are being offset by the $130 million hit from re-routing ships in the Red Sea region, higher fuel prices, and currency exchange rates, CFO David Bernstein said.
The cruise operator raised the expected impact of the Red Sea disruptions to $0.09 per share from the $0.07 to $0.08 it had estimated in January.
Carnival also estimated an impact of up to $10 million on full-year adjusted EBITDA and adjusted net income following Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse on Tuesday.
The cruise operator now expects full-year adjusted profit per share of 98 cents, compared with its prior forecast of 93 cents. Analysts on average were expecting a profit of $1 per share, according to LSEG data.
Carnival posted an adjusted net loss per share of 14 cents, compared to analysts' expectations of 18 cents.

At least two people killed in Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy network
Lviv governor says more people may be under rubble after cruise missile attack as Moscow ratchets up targeting of infrastructure
Russia has carried out another round of missile and drone strikes against Ukraine’s much-depleted energy network, killing at least two people.
One man died in a cruise missile attack on infrastructure in the western Lviv region, and another was killed after a projectile hit a petrol station in the north-eastern Kharkiv region, officials said on Sunday.
Lviv’s governor, Maksym Kozytsky, said there “may still be people under the rubble” and that firefighters had extinguished a blaze that broke out at an administrative building damaged in the strikes.
Russia has escalated its attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure in recent days, causing significant damage in several regions.
On Saturday the Ukrainian energy company Centrenergo said the Zmiiv thermal power plant, one of the largest in the Kharkiv region, had been completely destroyed as a result of Russian shelling last week. Power outage schedules were still in place for about 120,000 people in the region, where 700,000 had lost electricity after the plant was hit on 22 March.
The national energy operator, Ukrenergo, said Russia had targeted high-voltage facilities in the south on Sunday, forcing emergency shutdowns in the Black Sea city of Odesa and nearby areas that left hundreds of thousands of people without power.
In an Easter Sunday message to Ukrainians on social media, the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said: “There is no night or day when Russian terror does not try to break our lives … But we defend ourselves, we endure, our spirit does not give up and knows that it is possible to avert death. Life can prevail.”
The Ukrainian air force said it shot down nine of the 11 Shahed-type drones launched by Russia overnight, as well as nine out of 14 cruise missiles.
Russia’s defence ministry said the air force had used “high-precision long-range air-based weapons” to conduct a large strike against Ukraine’s gas and energy infrastructure.
“As a result of this strike, the operation of defence industry enterprises involved in the manufacture and repair of weapons, equipment and ammunition has been disrupted,” it said in a statement. “All the goals of the strike have been achieved. The assigned objects were hit.”
In the Russian border village of Dunayka, Ukrainian shelling killed a woman on Sunday, according to the local governor.
Since Moscow launched its assault on Ukraine two years ago, Russia’s Belgorod region has been repeatedly targeted by what authorities say is indiscriminate Ukrainian bombardment, which has increased in recent months.
“The village of Dunayka, in the Graivoron urban district, came under Ukrainian fire. To much grief, a civilian was killed,” Vyacheslav Gladkov said on social media. “She died of her wounds on the spot before the ambulance crew arrived. I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”
The latest wave of strikes came as the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, signed orders heralding the start of the country’s annual spring recruitment season, officially drafting 150,000 conscripts.
Russia’s parliament raised the upper age limit for conscripts from 27 to 30 in July 2023 in a move that appeared to be part of efforts to expand the military during the fighting in Ukraine. In September, Putin signed an order calling up 130,000 people for the autumn campaign, and last spring Russia planned to conscript 147,000.
On Sunday, France’s defence minister, Sébastien Lecornu, said his country would send Ukraine a fresh military aid package including new surface-to-air missiles and hundreds of old armoured vehicles.
“The Ukrainian army needs to defend a very long frontline, which requires armoured vehicles; this is absolutely crucial for troop mobility and is part of the Ukrainian requests,” Lecornu told La Tribune Dimanche.
He said France was looking at providing hundreds of VAB (Véhicule de l’Avant Blindé) frontline troop carriers in 2024 and early 2025.
France’s army is gradually replacing its thousands of VABs, which first went into operation in the late 1970s, with new multi-role troop carriers.
Lecornu said France was also preparing to release a new batch of Aster 30 surface-to-air missiles for the Samp/T system provided to Kyiv. The Aster 30 can intercept warplanes, drones and cruise missiles within a range of 75 miles (120km).
France is also speeding up the development of remotely operated ammunition for delivery to Ukraine as early as this summer, Lecornu said.
The French president, Emmanuel Macron, last month refused to rule out sending ground troops to Ukraine, although he cautioned that there was no consensus as allies agreed to ramp up efforts to deliver more munitions to Kyiv.
Pope Francis used his Easter Sunday address to call for a prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine as well as a ceasefire in Gaza. The pontiff said his thoughts were with the people of Ukraine and Gaza and all those facing war, especially the children who, he said, had “forgotten how to smile”.
“In calling for respect for the principles of international law, I express my hope for a general exchange of all prisoners between Russia and Ukraine, all for the sake of all,” he said.
