Hip Hop can easily be viewed as a male dominated genre. And while there have been many female MCs who’ve attempted to break that mold, only a few have been successful. And Eve is one of those women.

Initially known as the Ruff Ryders’ First Lady, Eve Jihan Jeffers boasted herself as a strong, independent woman who doesn’t take bull---- from anyone. With rhymes that can eat you up and spit you out on songs like ‘Who’s That Girl?’ and ‘Gangsta B----es’ off her 2001 album, ‘Scorpion,’ Eve came off as the MC you don’t mess with. However, as she proved later on in her career, the super short platinum coif, dog paw tattoos on her bust and sexy yet tomboyish style, Eve started to soften her image and look and even record songs that aren’t as rough around the edges including ‘Gangsta Lovin’’ with Alicia Keys and ‘Never Gone’ with Chrisette Michele. Despite the more feminine look these days, Eve showed that she hasn’t lost the edginess of performances such as her Gramercy Theatre gig in New York. Performing to a packed house, Eve, dressed in black leather with fringe, took fans on a journey through her song catalogue. From her first album, ‘Let There Be Eve...Ruff Ryders’ First Lady,’ to her more recent ‘Lip Lock,’ she brought me back to my childhood. Listening to her since primary school, finally seeing her perform these songs brought a new meaning to me. Back then, I used to do everything in my power to learn every lyric though it probably wasn’t proper for me to do so at that age. But now, songs like ‘Love is Blind’ and ‘Let Me Blow Ya Mind’ are a bit more relatable, and as the cliche goes, it was like she was performing them directly to me.

What makes an Eve show even more fun is the fact that she loves the crowd participation. During her performance of ‘She Bad Bad,’ she invited two men onstage to dance for her and naturally joined them. With a pretty successful career and a slew of hits to back it up, Eve is an artist that won’t only bring you to your feet but will also keep you going till the next morning.

Admittedly, I assume like many others in my generation, scenes of John Dorian of popular TV show, Scrubs, dancing around a hospital room filled with red balloons, a Goldfinger cover or my parents stumbling across old Top of the Pops videos on YouTube is more or less how I best know of Nena’s music. Maybe more recently she’s known for her involvement with Germany’s take of The Voice, however, this shouldn’t fool you into even thinking that she might be past it. Nowadays, Nena rarely performs outside of her homeland, so I’ve never caught her live. Then again, now I can see why. A sold out Deutschlandfest at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate set the scene for a real spectacle. The main highlight being a different take on ’99 Luftballons’ with Sammy Deluxe mashed with The Beatles "Hey Jude" where the entire crowd sang back to a still overwhelmed Nena. Among her more recent material, Nena also performed others from her backlog such as "Leuchttrum" and "Irgendwie Irgendwo Irgendwann." Despite the fact that I can speak no more than two words of German, this didn’t take away any enjoyment whatsoever. The sheer energy conveyed by Nena and her band underpinned by a crowd that knew each song word for word was incredible enough. A set rife with hits from her entire back catalogue, filling the air with a nostalgia that was almost tangible. If you ever get the chance to see her play to a home crowd, I strongly suggest you take it.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY

After 2 self-produced msuic albums, Eve released the national distribution board album < OFFICIAL NUMBER >. The indie album < Bunka > released on December 13, 2017 was his first all-self-composed songs, < Dramaturgy > which was included in this album, has exceeded 100 million plays. The number of YouTube subscribers exceeds 3.5 million. The one-man live shows in 2018, 2019 including the <winter tour 2019-2020 turbulent dining table> mobilized 12,000 people, The tickets were sold out immediately. On February 6, 2019, the Album < Otogi > was released, < Smile > released on February 12, 2020 won the 2nd place on the Oricon album chart, and < Kaikai Kitan/Ao no Waltz > released on December 23, 2020 won the 1st place, and the recorded song “ Kaikai Kitan ” exceeded 250 million the streaming, and YouTube exceeded 200 million playbacks.

EVE'S CAREER

His career began when in 2009 he uploaded his first cover to the popular Japanese website Nico Nico Douga. Later he was part of the groups einie and Riot of Color. Known for her thin and youthful voice, Eve is an artist/utaite whose voice is distinctive, which despite having a slightly nasal tone, is very soft and pleasant. She is usually described as shouta or cute. However, she can also sing in a very untypical and rough way.

In August 2014 he released his first album titled Wonder Word, later in 2015 he released the 2nd album with the Round Robin album, and in 2016 he released OFFICIAL NUMBER; that was the start of Eve's albums.

Later, exactly on December 13, 2017, Eve released an album, of which all the integrated songs were written and composed by him.

In 2018 she made a collaborative album with Sou, another artist of Japanese origin with 1M and a half subscribers on YouTube. This album was titled Ao including various songs like "Dr.", "Fake" etc.

In the years 2019 and 2020 she published the albums Otogi (fairy) and Smile (smile) respectively; furthermore Eve ranked them as the 1st and 2nd main albums.

In the year 2022 Eve released the album Vocaloid01, an album that compiles several of Eve's songs and transforms them into the style of Hatsune Miku. On the other hand, he also released the album Kaizin which contains songs like Kaikai Kitan (OP of Jujutsu Kaisen), Ao no Waltz (Theme music from the movie Josee, the Tiger and the Fish) and Mob (Song from the play 'Adam by Eve: A Live in Animation' original by Eve).

In addition to this vast discography, Eve began publishing the manga "Kara no Kioku" on April 15, 2020 in Monthly Comic Gene; a work illustrated by Newo and produced by Eve that currently has 2 volumes available. The story is based on Eve's MVs and some characters like Tobi Otogiri or Kurukuru who appear in both Eve's MVs and manga.

He reached his first million subscribers on April 14, 2019. The second million on October 11, 2020. The third on May 18, 2021. And finally the fourth on May 24, 2022.

IVE Announces Their 1ST WORLD TOUR ‘SHOW WHAT I HAVE’

Today, one of the fastest-growing K-Pop groups IVE announced their first global outing – 1ST WORLD TOUR ‘SHOW WHAT I HAVE’. The 24 -date world tour will hit various cities across Southeast Asia, North America, Europe, the U.K., South America, Eastern Asia and Australia next year. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on Saturday, January 13, 2024 with back to back shows at ICE BSD CITY HALL 5-6 in Jakarta, Indonesia, making additional stops in Bangkok, Singapore, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Newark, Paris, Berlin, Mexico City, Hong Kong, Manila and more before wrapping up in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, July 28 at Qudos Bank Arena.   

IVE formed in 2021 and grew to major success following the release of their first single, ‘ELEVEN’ which went on to win multiple awards, alongside their other title tracks. This year, IVE released their first full-length album <I’ve IVE>, selling more than 1.1 million copies in the first week. The group kicked off their 1ST WORLD TOUR ‘SHOW WHAT I HAVE’ with two incredible sold-out shows last month in Seoul.
