Exciting Changes for the Edelweiss Surf Tour 2023
by admin | May 6, 2023 | Edelweiss Surf Tour | 0 comments
The Edelweiss Surf Tour 2023 has some exciting changes for its competitors and fans alike.
Almost all tour stops will now be held on a single day, a decision made to intensify the overall experience for everyone. This move aims to give equal importance to both the competition and the gathering of the surfing community, both of which are integral aspects of the tour. With only one tour day, it will be easier for volunteers to manage, and everyone can relish the get-together more.
Apart from this change, the Stationary Waveriding and River Surfing disciplines have been combined to form one discipline named “Rapid Surfing.” The decision was made after evaluating the sporting and safety aspects of the event. It follows the international trend of combining surfing on a wave – whether in an artificial standing wave or a river wave – into a single discipline. There are too few differences in the way the wave is surfed to warrant dividing it into two disciplines.
However, safety remains a top priority for the organizers, particularly concerning juniors. In collaboration with the river surf clubs, the Swiss Surfing association is providing appropriate training and safety courses to minimize risks.
Surfing carries inherent risks, whether on the sea, on an artificial wave, or on a river wave. The Swiss Surfing association is aware of this and has taken necessary steps to ensure the safety of all participants. The Edelweiss Swiss Surfing Tour promises to be an unforgettable experience, and these changes add to the excitement and challenge for everyone involved.
