About bring me the horizon.

Bring Me the Horizon, often known by the acronym BMTH, are a British rock band from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Formed in 2004, the group currently consists of vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls and keyboardist Jordan Fish. They are signed to RCA Records globally and Columbia Records exclusively in the United States. The style of their early work, including their debut album Count Your Blessings, has primarily been described as deathcore, but they started to adopt a more eclectic style of metalcore on subsequent albums. Furthermore, their latest album That's the Spirit marked a shift in their sound to less aggressive rock music styles. Bring Me the Horizon released their debut album Count Your Blessings in 2006. Upon release, the album was met with great polarisation amongst the public and critical disdain. The band began to break away from their controversial sound with Suicide Season (2008), which proved to be a creative, critical and commercial turning point for the band. Bring Me the Horizon then released their third album There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret. In 2010, propelling them to greater international fame, whilst incorporating influences from classical, electronica and pop. Their major label debut, Sempiternal (2013) achieved Gold certification in Australia (35,000) and Silver in the United Kingdom (60,000). That's the Spirit (2015) debuted at number two in the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. Aside from these five albums, they have also released two extended plays and two live albums. They have received four Kerrang! Awards, including two for Best British Band and one for Best Live Band.

Fall Out Boy + Bring Me the Horizon Announce 2023 North American Tour

Fall Out Boy are hitting the road with Bring Me the Horizon  this year. The two just announced a set of 2023 North American tour dates together. Alkaline Trio will join them for three of the shows. The package includes several concerts at major stadiums.

Plus, additional bands New Found Glory, Four Year Strong, The Academy Is…, Royal & The Serpent, Games We Play, Daisy Grenade and Carr will provide further support on select dates on the trek.

See the tour dates near the bottom of this post.

Last week, Fall Out Boy  teased the tour with a video showing venues displaying the newly adopted Fall Out Boy proverb,  "If you build it, they will come."  They later  shared an image resembling BMTH's  That's the Spirit album artwork with the caption, "Things are looking overcast on the horizon. Check back tomorrow [Jan. 31] to see if weather conditions improve."

Last month, Fall Out Boy announced So Much (for) Stardust , their forthcoming eighth studio album. It features " Love From the Other Side " and " Heartbreak Feels So Good ," both released in January. Fall Out Boy heavily  teased the album earlier this year.

Two weeks ago, founding Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman revealed that he was taking a break from the band for mental health reasons. Fall Out Boy singer-guitarist Patrick Stump , bassist Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley supported his decision.

"It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride," Trohman said  in a statement on Jan. 18.

Meanwhile, Bring Me the Horizon's latest full length,  POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR came out in 2020 and has been succeeded by a number of singles, the most recent being "STraNgeRs."

“We’re doing lots of gigs hopefully if the world goes alright. Lots of European festivals and we’re going to the States in September. And hopefully a new record . We have [ Bring Me the Horizon ] been working on it for about a year now, we’ve got lots of music we’re just being quite picky about what we want to release. We must have about 45 songs.”

Bring Me the Horizon are a British rock band that was founded by the city of Sheffield in the year 2004. The band includes singer-songwriter Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls, and keyboardist Jordan Fish. They are associated with RCA Records globally and Columbia Records only in the United States.

The early work, such as the debut album “Count Your Blessings” is also described as predominantly deathcore. However, through the course of several albums, the group has evolved its sound. And taken a shift in a melodic direction, mixing their metalcore approach with elements of pop, electronica, and hip hip hop music.

They have released 6 studio albums, 2 live albums, 2 compilation albums, one remix album, 2 extended plays (EPs), one demo album, 31 singles, 2 video albums, 36 music videos, and more.

Oli Sykes of Bring Me the Horizon performing in Hull.

Bring Me the Horizon review – clearly the UK’s greatest rock band right now

Bonus Arena, Hull With Cybermen cheerleaders, hazmat suits and gigantic mosh pits, there’s a gloriously daft energy to the pop-metallers’ emotional, earth-shaking return

“I haven’t seen a mosh pit in 18 fucking months, so you better make it good,” barks Oli Sykes. This is the start of Bring Me the Horizon’s latest UK arena run, and the band’s frontman seems genuinely elated to be back in the thick of it.

Tonight’s Hull date – the first of the Post Human tour – is the Sheffield quintet’s first performance in the East Riding of Yorkshire in well over a decade. Much has changed during that time: they’ve evolved from rough-and-ready deathcore prospects to a slick, pop-metal hit factory who have received two Grammy nominations, scored consecutive UK No 1 albums – first 2019’s Amo, then last year’s Post Human: Survival Horror – and conquered America. The band’s live fare is daft and often teeters on the brink of cliche, but it’s simply impossible not to appreciate this spectacular collision of polished pop and searing metal.

Dear Diary dips into video game lore with clear Resident Evil references (“Dear diary, dog stopped barking, probably ’cause I ate his face / Tasty, itchy, TV say there’s no more human race”), as Sykes shuffles across the stage doing his best impression of the living dead. Whisper it, but even grizzled thrash veterans Slayer might appreciate these breakneck riffs.

In another gaming nod – this time to Konami classic Metal Gear Solid – Shadow Moses’ doomy textures and walls of jagged guitars have the arena’s foundations shaking with huge, swirling circle pits as thousands of voices scream back at the band. Brand new single DiE4u – which has more in common with Ed Sheeran than Slipknot – has only been out for 100 hours, but no matter: its live debut receives arena-wide, fists-in-the-air approval.

Bring Me the Horizon performing in Hull.

It’s not all fire and fury. A stripped-back take on Follow You, as keyboardist Jordan Fish and guitarist Lee Malia take centre stage with Sykes, has a teary-eyed audience hanging on the singer’s every word. In fact, he even encourages someone in the front row to hold off on the waterworks, lest they set him off. “You don’t know how much we’ve missed this,” he says.

What’s most impressive is the sheer spectacle. The stunning visuals and state-of-the-art strobe lights are enough of a sensory overload on their own, and for most of the night, Sykes is flanked by a pair of dancers. During Happy Song they’re costumed as part cheerleader, part Doctor Who Cybermen, complete with pompoms.

The pandemic references are frequent, but only ever as playful acknowledgments of the past 18 months. Marrying electronic elements with nu-metal’s bluster is the band’s calling card these days, and Parasite Eve is a powerful example that takes aim at Cummings et al: “When all the king’s sources and all the king’s friends / Don’t know their arses from their pathogens.” By this point, the dancers are wearing hazmat suits, as Sykes asks Hull: “Who got Covid?”

Bring Me the Horizon’s steady, assured ascension points to many more years in rock’s upper echelons. Even after eight studio releases, the band have an average age of just 34. And considering that Malia told this newspaper in 2013 that they were “never gonna sell out arenas”, those expectations need revising. Surely stadiums aren’t beyond the realms of possibility. Bring Me the Horizon are the country’s premier rock act, and the truth is they have been for a while.

Bring Me the Horizon play Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff, tonight, then tour until 26 September.

"I think he'd like to see a wall of death": Watch side-stage footage of Sleep Token teaming up with a masked Oli Sykes during Bring Me The Horizon's Brisbane show

Bring Me The Horizon enlisted Sleep Token guitarist IV for guest vocals during a Sempiternal classic live in Brisbane

Bring Me The Horizon/Sleep Token live collab 2024

Sleep Token might be masked and anonymous, but that doesn't mean the band don't have undeniable star quality. Currently wrapping up a massive Australian tour with Bring Me The Horizon , Make Them Suffer and Daine, fans in Brisbane were treated to something extra special when guitarist IV was brought out to provide guest vocals on Sempiternal classic Antivist during BMTH's headline set at Riverstage .

Naturally, fans of both bands have lost their minds over the team-up, flooding the internet with footage of the collab. Even Sleep Token bassist III couldn't resist sharing, putting up some side-stage footage on his Instagram stories (though you'll have to be quick if you want to see it, as footage is removed after 24 hours!). Fans have since taken the footage and uploaded it on their own channels, so you can see how the collab looked from backstage.

The Sleep Token/Bring Me The Horizon love-in looks to go both ways, too. While IV came on to sing the track, it appears BMTH vocalist Oli Sykes took the opportunity to don one of the band's old masks, Sleep Token unveiling new designs as part of their massive Wembley Arena headline performance in December last year.

This will surely fuel speculation for a future studio collab between Sleep Token and Bring Me The Horizon - BMTH certainly have precedent for it - but even if nothing comes about, both bands still have massive plans for the year ahead.

Bring Me The Horizon are currently preparing for the release of Post Human: Nex Gen, the follow-up to 2020's Post-Human: Survival Horror which is expected in summer 2024. The band also have a string of festival appearances planned, including the second edition of Sick New World in Las Vegas next week and appearances at European festivals, kicking off with Poland's Mystic Festival on June 8.

While Sleep Token haven't yet announced a follow-up to their breakout third album Take Me Back To Eden , the news that the band have signed to major label RCA Records suggests we might be getting new music sooner rather than later. That said, the band have an extensive touring regimen ahead for the rest of the year, including a North America tour (where they will also appear at Sick New World) that will end May 28 in Toronto, Canada, before the band return home in November and December for their first arena tour of the UK, ending with a second show at The O2 on December 3.

Bring Me The Horizon – Review & Gallery 10th April @ John Cain Arena, Melb VIC

Posted on April 11, 2024 by Tyler Lubke

Bring Me The Horizon 2024

Bring Me The Horizon John Cain Arena, Melbourne, VIC April 10, 2024 Supports:  Sleep Token ,  Make Them Suffer and  DAINE

The feeling of seeing your favourite band live is immense.

It has the opportunity to trump all prior gig experiences or open your eyes to something else completely. My experience listening to Bring Me The Horizon began during the That’s The Spirit era when ‘ Drown ‘ was a recurring anthem of late-night fast food shifts. I was at the peak age for music discovery and soon enough their entire discography left an unforgettable impression on me. Bring Me The Horizon continued to influence me, and be the source of many firsts for me. The first single I got up early to listen to was ‘ Mantra ‘, the first record I owned was  amo , and my first two tattoos are iconic band symbolism. Most significantly, my love for live music locally and internationally exploded into life when I saw  Bring Me The Horizon on their First Love  tour in 2019. After 3 years of going to a gig here or there, this was my first arena + international headline gig. I was hit with an emotional wave that instigated a passion to go to every damn show I could and do something in the scene. It is thanks to this band I am where I am today, and I could not simply attend one show of their 2024 Australian run. I’ll be attending every stop along the tour, however, it’s my pleasure to recap the highly anticipated first night of the tour at John Cain Arena.

Hyper pop and synthy vibes opened up the night as DAINE took the stage. The stage performance consisted of two tight guitarists providing boppy catchy melodies alongside DAINE themselves hitting the mic. Admittedly the autotuned vocals weren’t my thing, however, they grew on me! Soon the crowd freaked when Oli Sykes took the stage for his feature on ‘ SALT ’. Heavy vocals were utilised throughout by both artists, with clear heightened anticipation for the hooded-up BMTH frontman. The dual vocal effort flowed well throughout the incredibly catchy chorus particularly, and I think seeing ‘ SALT ’ live is worth the early admission alone, alongside their pop-infused set closer which gave DAINE one last awesome time to shine.

At first their addition to the lineup didn’t seem to make complete sense to me, however upon further reflection, I understand DAINE represents a direction that Bring Me The Horizon have experimented on. Could the tone be set for further things to come from the studio? Possibly! With or without this context, DAINE were a fun way to open up the evening. Even if I won’t go back for repeat listens of many tracks.

Perth juggernaughts Make Them Suffer really turned things up a notch; standard for the first heavier act of the evening. They were tight as ever from the moment they hit the stage with ‘ Ghost of Me ’. I’ve always appreciated how Make Them Suffer utilize the stage space to have a groove on stage, it’s so clear that they’re loving being up there as much as we love watching them. This is no different on an arena stage! Vocalist Sean Harmanis , bassist and guitarist moved all across teh stage, while keyboardist Alex Reade enthusiastically headbanged her way between keys, screaming and clean vocals. I still love the keytar solo during ‘ Doomswitch !’ Thumping double kick drums from drummer man Jordan Mather throughout simply went hard. ‘ Ether ’ was a cool song to chill to for a bit, before the live debut of ‘ Epitaph ’ blew me away. If I ever had to recommend a newcomer to listen to a song, it would be this. It’s such a perfect medley of every skill Make Them Suffer has developed over the years, and this set was the performance that solidified their future on big stages across the world. Happy Birthday to guitarist Nick McLernon too who was smiles all round.

On to the matter of Sleep Token , I was incredibly keen for my no doubt memorable first “ritual” as they enigmatically refer to their live shows. Man do I have some thoughts. First of all, not the snooze fest I joke about with my mates (redeeming my sleep tokens). The air was thick with anticipation, as people around me were ready to let Sleep Token have their hearts for 40 minutes at their first show of 2024. I felt somewhat out of place as I knew none of their songs apart from the post-drum solo segment of ‘ The Summoning ’ thanks to social media (which I’ll touch on later). I was not prepared for the absolute versatility and talent of Sleep Token .

Vessel does not speak to the crowd directly, but he commands them with his mastered singing or time on the keyboard. The body language of III and IV   is almost dominant. The backing vocalists/dancers add to the overall trance like spectacle you fall under. Individually each musician gets their chance to showcase their raw power, and as a cohesive unit the audience is truly in a chokehold (pun intended). The viral drum solo in The Summoning was something else to see live, and I fully understand why II  is one of the greatest drummers in the world. My highlight though, was the climactic finale of ‘ Take Me Back To Eden ‘. This was  Sleep Token at their best that night and I was blown away.

Am I a converted follower, indoctrinated into their cult-like fan base? No, because despite their absolute professionalism and identity as a band, it’s not what I’m looking for in music. This ritual was an unforgettable display of some of the most talented musicianship out there, but I will not worship.

gigs and tours bring me the horizon

Bring Me The Horizon had pinpoint production all night long. We were greeted by the Project Eve visualiser, urging us to engage in moshpits, ingest substances and have the best night of our fucking lives. I knew we were getting the full production, but having it set in that I’m about to see this unfold was emotional. The lights pulsed as the band took the stage, showcasing the gothic set pieces on display. When Oli Sykes  screamed “Get the fuck up!” , the show lit up, confetti was launched and a set I’ll remember forever began with ‘ dArkSide ‘. I couldn’t contain myself as Oli and John Jones sang and yelled at us as we sang back. John is deserving of his demonic mic stand, as he masterfully belted out isolated backing vocals on ‘ Empire (Let Them Sing) ‘. Going from  POST HUMAN: NeX GeN straight into Sempiternal era material? This was the first sign of an exciting and thoughtfully curated setlist to appease all fans; except for those who only like Count Your Blessings . ‘ Mantra ‘ was another beautiful sing along, where I finally took a second to suss out who is filling in for absent guitarist Lee Malia on this run (family first always!). Lee’s guitar tech Joey Black is on lead guitar for this run, and he absolutely slays on stage. The teardrops flowed and the smoke cannons screamed as we sang along to … well, ‘ Teardrops ‘! The bass lines were so full and heavy throughout thanks to Matt Kean’s display, and he even made sure to come say hi to our side of stage and trade spots with John throughout! The fires were lit both metaphorically and literally, as the pyro warmed up everyone for the first big breakdown of the night during ‘ AmEN! ‘.

The frenzy was beautiful to behold before checking out the Australian live debut of newest single ‘ Kool-Aid ‘. We must’ve all taken a sip because the arena shook with the combined singing. While Oli was hitting the high notes I couldn’t help but notice the demonic mannequin creature on the display had lights reflecting off it. These lights were matching the light displays in the venue! Again I really have to say the attention to detail in the production is astonishing. I didn’t realise it could snow inside, but it somehow did as a familiar intro coursed through the venue. Oli enigmatically appeared, flare in hand just like in a well-known music video. It hits every time you hear, “Can you tell from the look in our eyes?” and then you sing along “We’re going nowhere” . ‘ Shadow Moses ‘ kept the party going until we were told to ‘ Obey ‘. The Yungblud feature is present here in digital form, but it still was a fucking delight to bop and have fire-infused breakdowns too. It was once again time for some poppier vibes courtesy of delightful singalong ‘ Die4u ‘. This track took a little bit to grow on me, but after singing along to this live it became one of my favourites. The chaotic and almost blinding confetti gave a truly audible and memorable experience to the final chorus. When the interlude ‘ Itch For The Cure (When Will We Be Free) ‘ came on, we were all ready for the next huge track. The iconic ‘ Kingslayer ‘ intro drove the room nuts, and anyone standing still did what they were told when Oli said “Get the fuck up, wake the fuck up” .

We took a breather though, with an acoustic rendition of ‘ sTraNgeRs ‘.

Win all this – enter here

The band all united on the central stage as the crowd got their lights out and put people on shoulders. The acoustic version of one of my faves had me blinking the tears away as I sang with all the strangers in the room. This song was for everyone there, regardless of who you were or why you were there. It was for you. And it will always be for you. After the wholesome gathering it was time for a throwback to 2008. It was Suicide Season baby and the heaviest belter of the set ‘ Diamonds Aren’t Forever ‘ still goes nuts. The screams, the riffs, the gnarly as fuck breakdown all culminated into everything I hoped seeing a Suicide Season era track could be. We had to bring it something more modern with ‘ Parasite Eve ‘ shortly after, which I absolutely loved the visualiser for. The biggest surprise of the night however is one for the ages. Oli asked the crowd a question: “Who wants to sing ‘ Antivist ‘ with me”?   Charlie entered John Cain Arena as an attendee at the gig. She left as someone who sang and screamed on stage with Bring Me The Horizon . Not only did she get to live out the fucking dream, SHE FUCKING NAILED IT. It was almost as if she’d been practising for it! She screamed and sang, strutted the stage opposing Oli and joined him in unison. He was very clearly impressed by her when she knew what time it was. She told us to “push it back” like Oli always said. When Charlie screamed it though, Oli knew for sure he made the right choice. The crowd interaction wasn’t over yet, as Oli jumped down to the barrier with a camera during my favourite track ‘ Drown ‘. It’s so beautiful to see so many smiling faces singing alongside the band, and it was a moment that those featured will cherish forever. The iconic chants of ‘ Can You Feel My Heart ‘ resonated, before what was either a longer changeover or a fake encore. Either way shortly after a video started playing on the screens. It was a compilation of music videos, behind-the-scenes shot and gig footage from the conception of Bring Me The Horizon and their first release This Is What The Edge of Your Seat Was Made For , all the way until the future. Fans of the band’s performance at Royal Albert Hall would recognise the overture that was played alongside this footage and knew it would lead to one of the more powerful songs of the set. We accepted that we were all ‘ Doomed ‘. Again the emotions spilled forth and I couldn’t help but fall apart. It was simply beautiful to be a part of an iconic chorus.

One more emotional but more upbeat song was ‘ LosT ‘, written likely for so many followers of the the band. While singing this we wall felt not just seen but found too. It was then time for one final song. The techs gave it their all with confetti, pyro and smoke cannons throughout ‘ Throne ‘, once we all took a seat and jumped up on command. Described as “the most fun you can have with your pants on” , it was an iconic way to conclude the performance. The doomsday protocol ran on the visualiser, and the display read “BMTH just rocked my world” .

Fucking oath they did.

What can I say about this tour? Every time I see Bring Me The Horizon , it feels like an opportunity of a lifetime. They have concocted a tight as fuck lineup, with incredible talent across genres. To be treated to such an astonishing headline act after such talented supports is the dream. Bring Me The Horizon are my favourite band, and I cannot fathom the emotional reactions and assertions after nearly two hours of their full production. Despite Lee being absent this run, I’m confident they’re in the best live shape of their career and I hope you can experience it for yourself. Whether you’re rocking up early for  DAINE , showing support for metalcore on the big stage with  Make Them Suffer , worshipping the technical capabilities of  Sleep Token , or catching the coolest set of music I’ve seen to date,  Bring Me The Horizon will rock your fucking world.

Their 2020 EP ‘Post Human: Survival Horror’ received a  four-star review from  NME , with Andrew Trendell writing: “What could have been an act of self-sabotage or self-indulgence – or both – has transpired to be a welcome reminder of all that this band does best, rooted in raw relevance for today and the cyber-punk energy of tomorrow.”

Bring Me The Horizon Stokes Controversy With 'Jesus' Comments: 'This is Beyond Insulting'

Bring Me The Horizon caught some flak for the religious references in one of their recent social media posts.

The band just wrapped up a tour in Australia . The controversial statements came in a post announcing the set times for a show in Brisbane on Saturday, April 20.

"NEX GEN presents [Dreamseeker variant] 2024 OST+ A Post Human Study (phase II)," says the top of the schedule, which references the title of the BMTH's upcoming album .

"If Jesus Christ returns, well just kill that f--ker 2X," the graphic says. "What the hell is f--king wrong with me? I guess there's no remedy."

Christians left lots of angry comments left below the band's recent tweets, which surprised many longtime fans. Frontman Oli Sykes has been knocking organized religion since some of BMTH's earliest releases.

"As both Christian and metalhead, this is beyond insulting," one person said.

"Can’t believe I was so into this band when I was 16. You guys are so talented, yet reduce your self to this. Oli is such a loser," said another.

"Have mercy on them lord," a different commenter said.

"I’m never listening to you guys ever again. Disrespectful, distasteful, and when He does come back you’re going to learn a very hard lesson," someone else said. "Dare you to target a different religion."

Other commenters felt that knocking Christianity is no longer particularly controversial or edgy for a British band in 2024.

BMTH is most popular in the U.K., Australia and other parts of the Anglosphere, which have both historically been dominated by Christianity. But most of these places have seen a dramatic turn away from organized religion in recent decades.

Some fans pointed out that the band would likely garner a lot more attention and hate if they targeted a different religious group.

"Mock Islam if you have b--ls but you don't your just a coward going for low hanging fruit," one person said.

BMTH still had lots of fans coming to their defense.

"Ayo, as a Christian I find this deeply, DEEPLY your own free will and right to artistic freedom," one person said. " Music slaps, their religion none of my business, non issue. Also sorry on behalf of the snowflake Christians that didnt read the bible properly."

Many other fans felt the same way.

"I think most people in this comment section forgot what shock value is," one commenter said.

"Thx for weeding out all the annoying ppl," said another.

"Now all of the snowflake Christians have left it's a lot nicer here," a different fan said.

An exact release date for BMTH's new album hasn't been announced, but it's supposed to come out sometime this year.

This will be Bring Me The Horizon's first full-length studio album since 2020's Post Human: Survival Horror . That record made it to No. 1 on the albums chart in the U.K., where it was also certified gold.

The upcoming album will be Bring Me The Horizon's first release in more than a decade without longtime keyboardist and composer Jordan Fish , who produced the new Architects single " Curse ."

He first appeared on the 2013 LP Sempiternal , which made it to No. 3 on the albums chart in the U.K.
