How to start the GTA Online Short Trips Franklin and Lamar missions

In the GTA Online Short Trips, you switch from your regular avatar to become Franklin Clinton or Lamar Davies and take on three drug-fuelled story missions. You'll need a friend to go on these adventures with as they're cooperative so can't be taken on solo, though the matchmaking option is available if you need to find a buddy to participate with. Introduced as part of the GTA Online The Contract update, it's interesting to consider that technically these Short Trips are the first new story content centered around a main GTA 5 character since the game first launched in 2013! Finding and starting these co-op missions in GTA Online can be tricky, so here's everything you need to know about the Short Trips missions in GTA Online with Franklin and Lamar.

How to play GTA Online Short Trips

Originally, if you wanted to play the GTA Online Short Trips then you had to finish the full Dr Dre storyline of The Contract first, at which point you'd receive an invitation to visit the GTA Online Record A Studios and open up the option to initiate these missions. That's now changed, as all players can trigger them by going through the Jobs Menu, though the exact route isn't obvious at first. Go to Online > Play Job > Rockstar Created > Missions then scroll all the way down until you find the GTA Online Short Trips options. Pick the mission you want to play, then you'll be whisked away to matchmaking to get partnered up with another player – these are co-op activities so you can't fly solo.

What are the GTA Online Short Trips Franklin and Lamar missions

There are three different GTA Online Short Trips missions in total, obviously all revolving around the weed business with Franklin and Lamar's attempts to consolidate their position in the game. The story themes for each of them should play out in the following order:

GTA Online Short Trips - Seed Capital

Franklin and Lamar head to LD Organics to stock up on merchandise, but discover the warehouse is being raided by Vagos gang members. After fighting them all off, the pair spot Lamar's truck being driven away slowly so jump in the back, then the driver tips off the Vagos to cue up some vehicle combat. Following a final alleyway shootout, they recover the truck and return it to the warehouse.

GTA Online Short Trips - Fire It Up

Seeking revenge, Franklin and Lamar head out to the Vagos' weed storage in Blaine County, racing Franklin's motorcycle against Lamar's upgraded car on the way. After fighting off gang members at the first warehouse, they use fertilizer to burn the weed supplies before moving on to a second warehouse to repeat the process, commandeering a Technical (pickup truck with a mounted machine gun) to deal with many enemy vehicles. With both warehouse supplies destroyed, they steal a Vagos van and drive it back to Franklin's house while fighting off more gang members.

GTA Online Short Trips - OG Kush

Lamar sets up a promotional deal meeting for LD Organics with Jimmy Boston of the Epsilon Program, using a van that's literally 'made of weed', and asks Franklin to provide support. When they arrive at the 'secret' meeting place (which Lamar has inadvertently revealed via a Snapmatic post), Franklin climbs a crane to provide sniper cover and soon spots a large number of Vagos arriving. After dealing with the gang members the pair attempt to drive the van back to LD Organics, but discover it is on fire and they're getting high from the fumes. Realizing they won't make it back to the warehouse, they instead head to Tequi-la-la to try and gain publicity for the brand, and despite crashing outside the ruse works to raise the profile of their business.

How to beat the franklin & lamar missions in gta online.

There are three Franklin and Lamar missions in GTA Online that involve saving Lamar's business by engaging in several firefights with the Vagos.

Players can team up to beat three Franklin and Lamar co-op missions in  Grand Theft Auto Online . Before starting these missions, players will need to beat every quest in  The Contract DLC's main story. Once this is done, players will get a call from Franklin to go to the Record A Studios. The Franklin and Lamar missions will require two players to complete each of the three missions and can't be done solo.

In order to start and complete the missions in  The Contract DLC, players will need to purchase an Agency in  GTA Online . There are four Agency buildings to choose from with a variety of upgrades and cosmetic options, but players only need the basic property to start doing missions. The cheapest Agency is $2,010,000 and can be bought from the Dynasty 8 website on the player's phone. After purchasing an Agency, players can complete the main missions, then they'll unlock the ability to play the " Short Trip " missions as Franklin and Lamar.

To play as Franklin and Lamar in  GTA Online , players will need to visit Record A Studios and go in the back to the Smoke Room. Players will be given the option to smoke the Special Strain, and this allows them to play as either Franklin or Lamar. The host for the GTA Online session will always be Franklin, and the second player will always be Lamar, so players that want to experience both characters will need to switch between host and guest.

Completing Every Short Trip Mission in Grand Theft Auto Online

The missions for Franklin and Lamar in  GTA Online involve multiple firefights with the Vagos, including a car chase with a .50 cal gun on the back of the getaway truck. Players will need to drive to the designated points at the beginning of each GTA Online  mission  and take out any hostiles in the area when they arrive at their destination. Completing the three Franklin and Lamar " Short Trip " missions will award players a total of $150,000. Players don't need to worry about stocking up on supplies because they will need to use the guns and gear that Franklin and Lamar have available once each mission starts.

Short Trip - Seed Capital

When the first mission starts, players will get in the car and drive to Lamar's warehouse. As Franklin and Lamar come up to the warehouse, Lamar notices a group of people that aren't supposed to be there. Players will need to take out every Vagos in the area, then  GTA Online 's Chop will automatically attack the last one. Franklin, Lamar, and Chop will then go through the warehouse entrance on the east side of the building. There will be a few more enemies inside for players to kill.

Chop will stay behind when Franklin and Lamar exit. The pair will run after Lamar's stolen truck and hop inside as part of a cutscene. Franklin and Lamar's arguing gives away their position, and the driver calls for backup. When the cutscene ends, players will need to shoot at the Vagos that are chasing and firing at them. The truck will eventually stop, and players will have more hostiles to take out, including the driver who still has the keys to the truck.

After killing every Vagos in the area and collecting the keys from the driver, another cutscene will be triggered. As GTA Online 's Franklin and Lamar approach the smoking truck, it explodes, then the mission concludes. Players can either continue the missions or return to playing as their regular characters. If players don't continue right away, they can access the next mission by going back to the smoke room in the Record A Studios building and smoking the Special Strain again.

Short Trip - Fire It Up

The next mission starts with Lamar telling Franklin they need to get back at the Vagos for raiding his warehouse. Once the cutscene ends, players will have a 3.95-mile journey up to Sandy Shores in Blaine County. The easiest way to get there is to follow the path highlighted on the minimap, but players looking to speed things up can take some of the riskier shortcuts along the route.

When players arrive at Sandy Shores in GTA Online 's Blaine County , they will need to take out more Vagos, then Franklin and Lamar will need to set a fire inside the warehouse. This can be done by pouring gasoline near the rows of plants, then backing up and shooting the trail of gasoline. Players can exit after setting the fire, kill the Vagos outside, then steal the pickup truck that has the .50 cal gun on the back of it. Vagos will chase Franklin and Lamar to the next warehouse, so one player will need to shoot while the other drives.

The second warehouse is the same as the first. Players need to kill the enemies surrounding it, go inside, fight more hostiles, then set fire to the plants. Instead of taking the truck again, players will need to get in the van that's inside the warehouse to steal the Vagos' supplies. Players will then need to make the 3.95-mile journey back to GTA Online 's Los Santos  and deliver the van to Franklin's house while Vagos periodically come after them for most of the drive. Another cutscene will trigger, then players can move on to complete the final " Short Trip " mission.

Short Trip - OG Kush

The last mission in the " Short Trip " series starts with Lamar telling Franklin that he's got a potential celebrity investor. The pair get in Lamar's new delivery van, then players need to drive to the deal that's taking place in Blaine County. GTA Online 's Franklin will take a sniper position on the crane overlooking the deal which will be attacked by a large number of Vagos. They will come in a few waves, and Franklin will stay at the top of the crane until the firefight is over. The easiest way to split the targets is to have Franklin take out the ones further away in the road so Lamar can deal with the enemies immediately in front of him.

The final part of the " Short Trip " missions will be another driving and shooting event. Lamar will be the one driving for the last mission, so Franklin will need to focus on shooting. Players have to take out the Vagos chasing them, then drive Lamar's smoking van to Tequi-la-la. At the end of the mission, players will see Lamar celebrating his brand and Franklin cinematically walking away from the scene to go home to his family. The " Short Trip - OG Kush " is the last mission with Franklin and Lamar, but players can replay these three missions at any time in  GTA Online .

Once you’ve finally met with Dr. Dre and completed his VIP Contract mission, you will be invited to Dr. Dre’s recording studios along with Franklin Clinton and Lamar Davis. This is when you can finally access the inside of Record A Studios in GTA Online .

How to access the Short Trip missions, GTA Online

Before you visit Record A Studios, make sure to pair up with a friend. While the missions in The Contract were very accessible for solo players, the Short Trip series of missions are all designed with two players in mind, so grab a friend before venturing down this path. 

When you first enter Record A Studios, this will trigger the first of the three Short Trip missions. Here’s the name of each: 

• Short Trip – Seed Capital.
• Short Trip – Fire It Up.
• Short Trip – OG Kush.

As you might be able to guess from the titles, these three quests center around Franklin and Lamar’s cannabis stash. When entering these missions the player will assume the role of Franklin or Lamar, making these quests a unique experience in GTA Online . 

In order to start the subsequent Short Trip missions, just visit Lamar Davis’ icon on the map screen.

How to Complete Short Trips in GTA V Online

Short Trips is a collection of fun story-based missions in which you and a friend get to play as Franklin and Lamar getting into all kinds of drug-related hijinx.

You'll get GTA$ 50,000 each time you complete a Short Trip mission, plus a bonus of GTA$ 100,000 the first time you complete one as each character. That means if you go play through all three twice right now, once as each character, you're in for GTA$ 900,000 in-pocket.

Most of this is pretty straight-forward, but if you want some extra help or just want to read a full walkthrough, you've come to the right place.

Before you go on, there are a few things to note about Short Trips:

• In order to play you MUST have another player.
• You will not have any of your regular guns or armor. Snacks, however, you will still be able to use so be sure to stock up.

How to Start Short Trips

Short trip - seed capital, short trip - fire it up, short trip - og kush.

It used to be that in order to unlock Short Trips you had to own an Agency and complete the VIP Contract with Dr. Dre . That's no longer the case.

Now you can also initiate Short Trips by going to the Pause Menu > Online > Jobs > Play Job > Rockstar Created > Missions > Short Trip (whichever one you wish to play). All players, no matter their rank, can initiate a Short Trip, even though it says it unlocks at rank 9999.

One thing that hasn't changed is that in order to play Short Trips you MUST play with one other player . So grab a friend or meet someone new and get started!

Franklin and Lamar find themselves driving into an ambush--Someone is trying to steal their stash! You must do your best to fight them off and protect your property.

Walkthrough:

• The mission starts with a tour of Dr. Dre's studio. After a long cutscene your characters will smoke some strong weed and have an out-of-body experience, becoming Franklin and Lamar.
• Once you're Franklin and Lamar, get into the car and follow the waypoint.
• When you arrive you'll find an aggressive gang waiting.
• The best way to go about taking them out is for one player to make their way down the alley, hiding behind garbage cans, etc., and the other to go around to the right. This way the enemies will be focused on the first player and the second can take them out while taking very little heat.
• Once everyone outside is toast, be sure to go take all their guns and bullets before you run inside, but keep your pistols equipped for now.
• Inside there will be four more enemies. Kill them easily with your pistols, then run around the room and get extra gear; Guns, bullets, and a first aid kit should be in the shelves. Equip your best weapons for the next part.
• You'll watch another long cutscene, after which you'll have to shoot at moving cars outside the back of a truck. You can't move or hide during this segment--All you can do is aim, shoot, and eat snacks. We recommend keeping your snack menu open so you can eat at any time while shooting.
• Shoot enough to stay alive until the truck parks at its destination.
• This is the final part, in which you'll need to take out more enemies and make your way to the driver of the truck, marked with a red dot.
• The driver will spawn in a different location each time you play, but is most likely on a rooftop somewhere. Watch for ladders and stairs to climb up.
• Once you kill him, grab the keys and you're done.

In this one Franklin and Lamar head out to destroy the product of a rival. You can initiate the mission by entering the Recording Studio after having completed Seed Capital , or by going through the Jobs menu as described above.

• You'll start out as Franklin and Lamar in front of the studio.
• Take the car and the motorcycle to the way point. You can race if you want, but the game will move into a cut scene whenever the first person arrives.
• Be sure to equip your guns as soon as you arrive as you'll only have knives equipped and there are enemies nearby.
• Walk toward the weed warehouse and kill enemies as you go.
• Once everyone is killed, go inside the warehouse where there will be one more to kill.
• Next, grab the fertilizer, pour it around all the weed plants, then shoot fertilizer puddles to light it.
• When the product is destroyed, head back outside where more enemies will be waiting.
• A Karin Technical will drive up. Shoot the guy on the gun and the driver, then steal the vehicle with one of you on the gun. There will be a lot of enemies to take out.
• The best way to go about driving to the next location is to take a detour. This way you won't run into any roadblocks of enemies on the way and in general you'll have less at a time.
• When you arrive at the second warehouse, just keep driving if there are a lot of enemies around. You can circle around several times, taking them out, until it seems safe enough to stop.
• When you're ready, head into the second warehouse.
• There won't be anyone waiting in this one so just destroy the product, then steal the van and head out.
• There will be more enemies on the drive and they'll be very good at maneuvering in your way. Keep going and make sure whoever's riding shotgun is doing their job.
• Once you reach the city the enemies will disappear and you can drive the rest of the way in peace to Franklin's place.

In the third and final Short Trip Lamar has a business prospect to check out and needs Franklin to come along and watch his back. You can initiate the mission by entering the Recording Studio after having completed Fire It Up , or by going through the Jobs menu as described above.

• Once again Franklin and Lamar start outside the studio. This time Lamar is showing off his fancy new van.
• Drive the van to the waypoint destination. On the way Franklin will be dropped off to stake out with a sniper on the top of a crane.
• Watch the cutscene, then be ready to fight. Lots of enemies will arrive right after the scene.
• After several waves of enemies, a helecopter will also arrive. Lamar is fairly exposed so try to take it out quickly.
• Take out all the enemies, then get back in the van.
• As you drive away, a lot more enemies will try to stop you on the road. Meanwhile, the potmobile you're driving will start smoking and get Franklin and Lamar high AF.
• Eventually the enemies will drop off and when you arrive at the waypoint you're done. Enjoy the cutscene!

In this guide, you will learn about different short-trip missions that can be accomplished to get in-game awards. Three short-trip missions such as Seed Capital, Fire It Up, and OG Kush can be completed to get unique rewards and money. You can follow all the related tips mentioned below to execute these missions conveniently and quickly.

• You will need to complete these missions as Franklin or Lamar . To play as Franklin in the short trip missions, you must be the host . To play as Lamar , you need an invitation from the host.
• First, visit the Record Day Studios location on the map and go to the right side of the door . Find the green Corona ring , which serves as the smoking room and the launch point for these missions.
• Access the missions by interacting with the green Corona ring within the smoking room at Record Day Studios.

• Access the interaction menu and locate the options related to the short-trip missions. Invite another player to join and launch the mission from the smoking room . You can adjust the difficulty level from the default Normal to Hard .
• Note that you cannot change the difficulty level using the game’s Mission menu. Changing the difficulty level from Normal to Hard increases the payout. Typical payouts like $50,000 will increase to $62,500 when played on Hard difficulty.

Seed Capital

In this section, we will take you through the steps to complete the first short mission “Seed Capital” to earn in-game awards.

• Inside the smoking room , you need to invite a friend or a random player through the Mission menu. Initiate the first mission called Seed Capital and begin with a brief introduction to DJ Pooh .
• After that, visit the studio, where you’ll experience a jam session and Lamar’s freestyle . After returning to the smoking room , a cutscene will happen. Inhaling serious gas triggers a transition where you start playing as both Franklin and Lamar . Your characters momentarily pass out , and the gameplay switches to controlling Franklin and Lamar.

• Now visit the LD Organics location that’s under attack by the Vagos and engage in a shootout to defend LD Organics against the attackers .
• Even a chopper might join the action. Once the initial shootout is resolved and all enemies outside are eliminated, return to the front of LD Organics .
• Enter the building , proceed inside the weed lab , and eliminate remaining adversaries to clean up the area. Chop, the dog , will join the action and help by engaging in combat.

• You have to utilize the shelves to load up on ammo and weapons . While in vehicles , ensure you hover over your snacks to access the interaction menu for quick access to snacks and armor.
• After Franklin and Lamar clear out LD Organics , they can enter the stolen Vagos van .
• The Vagos driver overhears them, alerting the rest of the Vagos gang and a shootout ensues from the back of the cargo truck while traveling. The journey takes you to a familiar location where the battle continues.
• Your objective is to acquire the keys to a box truck containing valuable weapons , including an assault rifle . After that, engage in combat with enemies . Keep in mind that on harder difficulty levels , it will be more challenging.
• The driver on the roof possesses the keys . Eliminate him, retrieve the keys, and proceed. Upon obtaining the keys, a cutscene initiates where Franklin and Lamar reclaim their vehicle.

This section describes how to complete the second short mission called “Fire It Up”.

• Return to Record Day Studios and enter the smoking room to begin the next mission called Fire It Up . Trigger through a cut-scene that allows you to play as Lamar and Franklin . The mission centers on Lamar seeking revenge after the Vagos attacked his lab and your objective is to hit back at the Vagos’ base of operations alongside Franklin or Lamar.
• You have to arrive at the Vagos’ base , initiate action by taking out the guards outside, proceed inside the lab, and follow the mission’s theme by setting fires .
• Locate blue gas cans at the back of the lab and use the gas cans to pour fuel over the plants and create a trail leading to setting the fire. Eliminate the valuable bushes in the lab as part of Lamar’s revenge and exit the lab after completing the mission objectives.

• Expect an ambush waiting for you after exiting the location and prepare to face Vagos retaliating against your actions .
• Encounter Vagos attackers ; engage in combat to take them out. There will be enemies, including a gunner on a 50 and a technical vehicle.
• You have to take down the gunner and the driver of the technical vehicle. Deal with a pursuing chopper that joins the combat and focuses on eliminating the chopper threat.
• Aim to slow down enemy vehicles by targeting their drivers , and utilize the firepower of the mounted gun to quickly dispatch both enemies and vehicles . Enjoy the intensity and excitement of the combat scenario, utilizing the available resources to handle the adversaries.

• You need to proceed to the next storage location belonging to the Vagos and eliminate the guards stationed there. The objective is to finish off what was started previously and dismantle the entire Vagos operation.
• Focus on destroying the younger plants in this location to disrupt the Vagos’ production capabilities. The plants in this location are less mature.
• Burn these younger plants to significantly impact the Vagos’ production capabilities. Note that destroying these younger plants might take a bit longer compared to the mature ones encountered earlier.

• After that, head towards the van parked behind the Yuga Classic at the rear side of the lab. Enter the van and initiate your escape .
• You need to choose between using the railroad tracks or taking the road to look after yourself off pursuing enemies . Navigate your way back to Franklin’s house while evading or dealing with any remaining adversaries.
• Drive the van through the Corona Ring checkpoint, which signifies the successful completion of the mission. Upon passing through the checkpoint, the mission concludes successfully.

This section will take you through the steps to complete the third short mission named “OG Kush” to earn the in-game awards.

• The third and final short trip mission is called OG Kush . In this mission, Lamar, having dealt with the Vagos , aims to progress LD Organics’ business , specifically involving a weed van .
• Lamar wants to market the weed van with a top-notch celebrity’s help to secure funding and advance LD Organics’ business. Drive to the designated deal location where the meeting with the celebrity is set to take place.
• Franklin’s task is to ensure the security of the entire deal and his responsibility is to ensure that no one disrupts or interferes with the business deal during the meeting with the celebrity. The Vagos discover the deal and plan to retaliate by attacking to disrupt and destroy it, potentially harming Lamar and Franklin .

• You have to utilize a sniper rifle positioned on a crane to eliminate incoming Vagos threats and protect the deal site. Focus on taking out enemies and securing the area, especially covering the bay area .
• Franklin covers and defends Lamar who operates on the ground level . You need to play as Lamar to defend yourself and escape from the attackers while being at ground level.

This marketing strategy aims to assist in a new era for LD Organics, gaining attention and going viral.
• Despite the unconventional situation , the plan turned out to be a success . Everyone involved, including Franklin and Lamar , appreciates the outcome, leading to a successful mission and financial gain .

The GTA Online Protagonist returns to Record A Studios with an associate, ending up in an out-of-body experience again and Lamar Davis tells Franklin Clinton that if they came back for a second time, then it wasn't a mistake and was rather a choice to have got so high.

Lamar asks for Franklin's assistance in storming the Vagos ' weed storage facilities in Blaine County and destroying them as payback for them having destroyed his stash and Mule . Franklin questions why they don't just let the police handle it as LD Organics is a legal business that got robbed, but Lamar accuses him of acting like a snitch and that they never used to depend on the cops for such things. Lamar is determined to take back the cannabis scene from corruption and gangsters, comparing himself to Impotent Rage .

They race each other to the first facility, Franklin on his Bagger and Lamar in his Emperor , which has now been upgraded by Benny's Original Motor Works . On the way, they make multiple references to the missions Franklin and Lamar and Repossession from Grand Theft Auto V , with Lamar warning Franklin not to use his Special Ability (though he incapable of using it in these missions). Franklin denies having any such ability (nor that he makes a weird face like he is attempting to go to the bathroom as Lamar claims). On reaching the destination, a different cutscene plays out depending on who wins the race.

They reach the Vagos' first weed warehouse in western Sandy Shores and fight off the Vagos. It is possible to do this either stealthily without being seen, or aggressively, in which case the Vagos will start shooting back. If seen, the Vagos inside the warehouse are alerted when they enter, otherwise, they can also be taken down stealthily. After defeating them, on Lamar's instructions they pick up Fertilizer Cans that they pour over the weed and set on fire to burn it all down and exit the first warehouse. Lamar bemoans the destruction of the plants, even if they are substandard.

If done stealthily, it is only now that Vagos realize that they are under attack, and two gangsters guarding a nearby Technical Custom start shooting. If done aggressively, more Vagos arrive on the scene using the Technical instead, and the two escape and can fight them off using the mounted .50 calibre gun on the Technical while being chased by Vagos in lowrider Manana Customs , Faction Customs , Buccaneer Custom , Sanchez motorcycles, and a Buzzard Attack Chopper . They eventually reach the Vagos' second warehouse on Union Road near Chianski Passage , while dealing with more Vagos members and roadblocks consisting of a Manana Custom, a Peyote Custom and a Pounder Custom . Inside, they repeat the process, with a stash of weed located away from the rest of the stashes.

They then take the Vagos' Youga Classic that they find parked in the warehouse as it is still loaded with supplies that Lamar can use back at his business, and Lamar drives to Franklin's house to drop him off, again while fighting off Vagos along the way, now in Baller STs and Faction Customs. Back in the city, Lamar has Franklin admit that he had fun and gets a laugh out of him with a joke.

On arrival, a cutscene plays, where Franklin does not let Lamar inside his house because his kids are home this time, referencing the final cutscene of the Franklin and Lamar mission. Franklin sprays himself with a can of air freshener to mask the smell of the burning cannabis plants before going inside.
