What Is The Legends Tour? A closer look at what used to be called the European Seniors Tour and Staysure Tour

Formerly known as the European Seniors Tour and the Staysure Tour, the Legends Tour is the men’s professional golf tour for members aged 50 and older. Five years after the first edition of The Senior Open, won by Neil Coles in 1987, more than 60 professionals called for a formally structured Tour, which was then created in 1992.

The Legends Tour features a strong playing membership that includes former Major winners, world number ones and Ryder Cup players and captains. Players compete for the John Jacobs Trophy, which is awarded to the golfer who finishes first on the Legends Tour Order of Merit each season.

You can get up close and personal with Legends at world-class destinations across Europe, the United States and Africa by getting your Legends Tour 2022 tickets .

Past winners (full list below) include Scotland legends Colin Montgomerie and Sam Torrance, as well as former Masters champion and world number one, Ian Woosnam.

A host of other big names and former DP World Tour champions compete on the Legends Tour, including Thomas Bjørn, Paul McGinley, Paul Lawrie, Michael Campbell, and America’s Tom Lehman.

Who Owns The Legends Tour?

In 2020, the Staysure Tour was rebranded the Legends Tour under a new ownership structure. This was part of a ground-breaking agreement between the European Tour and Staysure founder and group CEO Ryan Howsam.

Under the agreement, Howsam, who founded insurance firm Staysure in 2004, took a majority equity share in the Legends Tour. Howsam, a golf fanatic, also owns and invests in companies in sport, insurance, tech, food and media.

What Is The Alliance Series?

A number of Legends Tour events (see below) will take place in ‘Alliance’ format, which offers amateur golfers (max handicap 18 for men and 24 for women) the opportunity to compete alongside the Legends of the game and live the life of a pro – on and off the golf course.

There are six confirmed Alliance Series events in 2022. At these tournaments, amateur golfers get to play a minimum of two competitive rounds during the Championship, alongside different pros in front of crowds and the television cameras.

It costs between £8,000 and £12,000 to enter a tournament. As well as the playing experience, the package offers inside-the-ropes access at the tournament, hospitality, and use of the players lounge.

What Is The Celebrity Series?

The Celebrity Series provides another unique playing experience, where amateur golfers get to play with personalities from sport, business and media the day before the tournament gets underway. A Celebrity Series team consists of two amateurs, one Legend and one celebrity. The cost is £2,500 per person or £5,000 per team of two amateurs.

It’s a package that comes with all the trimmings, including inside-the-ropes access at the tournament, use of the players lounge and locker room, and post-round hospitality with the Legends.

What Is The Championship Pro-Am?

There’s a third opportunity for amateur golfers to experience the life of a pro golfer within the Legends Tour set-up  – the Championship Pro-Am. This takes place ahead of the competitive tournament days, and costs £3,500 per team (three amateurs and one professional). Individual places can be purchased for £1,000.

Legends Tour Schedule 2022

The Legends Tour has returned stronger and boasts an international schedule with tournaments taking place across a variety of different countries and continents. The Tour will come to a conclusion in the exotic climes of the Indian Ocean, with the ‘Indian Ocean Swing’. Firstly, The MCB Tour Championship Seychelles will be played at Constance Lemuria, Praslin, Seychelles, on December 2-4, 2022, while the MCB Tour Championship Mauritius will return to the Legends Course at Constance Belle Mare Plage, Poste de Flacq, Mauritius, the following week where players will compete for a minimum prize fund of €500,000.

A number of other events and venues complement a growing roster of top top-class tournaments on the Legends Tour in 2022, and there’s a lot of golf to be played before the Order of Merit winner gets crowned in Mauritius. And along the way, the players will be competing for record prize funds totalling over €15 million.

Watch Us Judge Hot Wheels Legends Tour Semifinalists—and See the Final Live

We got to help choose the next custom build to become a 1:64 diecast Hot Wheels car. We've got video of the exciting semifinal and the final on November 12.

• The Hot Wheels Legends Tour is a contest to choose a custom build and turn it into a 1:64-scale toy car.
• Entrants come from around the world, and only 10 will advance to the final round.
• Car and Driver senior editor Elana Scherr and Road & Track' s John Pearley Huffman represented Hearst Autos in the semifinals judging.

Winnowing the hopefuls down to one takes a full year, with regional events leading up to a 24-car semifinal, and, eventually, a 10-best shootout. We were invited this year, along with beloved Window Shop participant and Road & Track senior editor John Pearley Huffman , to judge the difficult semifinals.

The semifinalists ranged from a pink mini-truck to an almost spherical Volkswagen Bug bus. We liked the Snork-nosed blown Porsche 928, while other judges marveled at a high-riding Autozam and a Ford Anglia with a stock back window design so wildly styled that it seemed more custom than the customs. We're not just being polite when we say any of the cars we saw would have made excellent Hot Wheels, but we were instructed to think of the final product: how would the details translate? Is this a car that's similar to Hot Wheels already in production? Would a kid want to play with this? Would an adult?

How to See the Finals

Like a sleeper agent activated late in the game, Elana Scherr didn’t know her calling at a young age. Like many girls, she planned to be a vet-astronaut-artist, and came closest to that last one by attending UCLA art school. She painted images of cars, but did not own one. Elana reluctantly got a driver’s license at age 21 and discovered that she not only loved cars and wanted to drive them, but that other people loved cars and wanted to read about them, which meant somebody had to write about them. Since receiving activation codes, Elana has written for numerous car magazines and websites, covering classics, car culture, technology, motorsports, and new-car reviews. In 2020, she received a Best Feature award from the Motor Press Guild for the C/D story "A Drive through Classic Americana in a Polestar 2."  In 2023, her Car and Driver feature story "In Washington, D.C.'s Secret Carpool Cabal, It's a Daily Slug Fest" was awarded 1st place in the 16th Annual National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards by the Los Angeles Press Club.

Prog legends Genesis will tour North America in November and December

Genesis have announced a run of US tour dates for November and December. It's the first time the band have played North America in 14 years, since the band's 2007 Turn It On Again tour.

The Last Domino? sees the Tony Banks , Phil Collins , and Mike Rutherford line-up playing major cities across the U.S. and Canada. The group will be joined by Nic Collins on drums, and the band’s long-time lead guitar and bass player Daryl Stuermer. The band tour the UK prior to heading to the US .

Tickets for all shows will be available first through a presale powered by Ticketmaster Verified Fan on May 5, followed by the general public on-sale on May 7. The Verified Fan program aims to create a safe and reliable ticket-buying experience. It helps ensure that tickets get into the hands of real fans first. Fans must register for access between now and Sunday, May 2 at 11:59 pm ET. If verified and selected, fans can secure their tickets beginning Wednesday, May 5, at 10 am local time. 

Beginning May 7, tickets will be available through a public on-sale.

Venues in all the tour cities (except Cleveland and Philadelphia) will issue SafeTix mobile tickets. SafeTix tickets use a unique barcode that refreshes every few seconds. This makes the tickets impossible to counterfeit. SafeTix mobile tickets need a smartphone to display. No other tickets will be accepted for entry to shows in these cities.

For the biggest Genesis fans who want to get closer to the action than ever before, official VIP packages will be available for all shows! Fans can choose from a variety of VIP package options to ensure they have an unforgettable experience. Official VIP packages will be available beginning Wednesday, May 5 at 10 am local time.

A Hot Wheels fan will soon see his 1970 Pontiac Trans Am immortalized on store shelves as a toy car.

Toy manufacturer Mattel announced Thursday that the car was the winner of the 2020 Hot Wheels Legends Tour , an annual search for custom cars that could potentially be made into a die-cast toy vehicle.

Riley Stair of Sacramento, California, was this year's winner, spending 18 months transforming the Trans Am. The toy version of his car will go on sale this November.

"I never did think that a car that I built at my parents' house would ever be a Hot Wheels," said Stair during an interview with USA TODAY. "It's a surreal experience."

Mattel says cars are chosen based on three criteria: authenticity, creativity and "garage spirit," which emphasizes time spent building the car.

"When we saw Riley's car, it was a no brainer," said Ted Wu, vice president of global design for vehicles at Mattel. "You look at the feeling, the passion, the sort of the emotion it brings. It's a very aggressive looking car."

Stair's Trans Am is the third fan vehicle honored with its own Hot Wheels toy.

Tune in to watch as the LPGA Tour tees it up for their first major championship of the 2024 season.  The Club at Carlton Woods plays host to The Chevron Championship. The 132-player field, highlighted by 10 of the top 10 in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, will compete for a $7.9 million purse.

Saints announce 2025 Saints Legends Fan Cruise

H ere's a new one. On Monday, the New Orleans Saints announced their partnership with Seaside Events to launch the Saints Legends Fan Cruise in April 2025, which you can read more about here . The seven-night cruise on the  Norwegian Getaway will tour the Western Caribbean with stops in Mexico, Belize, and Honduras.

What's unique is that this gives diehard Saints fans the opportunity to interact with some of their favorite players at meet and greets, group dinners, panel discussions, and autograph sessions, among other events. Additionally, the first 50 cabin bookings will receive seats at the Suite or Club level for a 2024/2025 Saints home game.

Saints owner Gayle Benson announced the cruise in a statement from the team: "We are thrilled to join forces with Seaside Events for this exciting venture, offering Saints fans an exclusive opportunity to interact with our Legends in a vibrant and exclusive atmosphere, fostering memories that will endure for a lifetime."

So who will be in attendance? Pro Football Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson has already committed for the cruise, and so has fan favorites like Pat Swilling, Michael Lewis, Joe Horn, and Fred McAfee, and many other former Saints players. There aren't many other events like this one, so be sure to check it out.
