LIV Golf’s 2023 schedule: Here’s what we know so far

The Greenbrier becomes the latest former PGA Tour stop to host a LIV event.

LIV Golf’s 2023 schedule is taking shape.

The Saudi-backed PGA Tour rivals announced three more venues for its 2023 schedule Wednesday, solidifying half of the league’s 14-event second-season schedule.

Arizona’s The Gallery Golf Club, Oklahoma’s Cedar Ridge Golf Club and West Virginia’s The Greenbrier Resort are the first announced U.S. venues for the league’s sophomore season, joining previously announced stops in Australia , Singapore, Spain and Mexico.

“LIV Golf’s expansion to new U.S. markets adds to the growing excitement for the league launch in 2023,” LIV Golf Commissioner Greg Norman said in a release. “More fans across the country and around the globe will experience the LIV Golf energy and innovative competition that has reinvigorated the sport, and these championship courses will contribute to the transformative season ahead for players, fans and the game of golf.”

What is LIV Golf’s future? They shared plans for it Saturday

The Greenbrier becomes the second former PGA Tour host site to join the LIV Golf circuit after Mayakoba’s El Camaleón was announced last month, just weeks after hosting the World Wide Technology Championship on the PGA Tour. The Old White Course at the Greenbrier hosted a PGA Tour event from 2010 to 2019 and the course was part of the TPC network until 2020.

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice owns the resort.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the LIV Golf League and looking forward to seeing the game’s best players return to the Old White Course,” Justice said in the release. “For more than a century, The Greenbrier has been at the forefront of golf in America, and LIV will provide another exciting chapter to the incomparable legacy of the sport at America’s Resort.”

Valderrama, the host site for LIV Golf Spain, previously hosted the DP World Tour’s Andalucia Masters, but the tournament is not on the tour’s 2023 schedule.

The upstart league’s first season featured eight events, five of which took place in the United States, running from June through October. Two of the U.S. sites were at courses owned by former U.S. President Donald Trump. It’s widely expected the league will return to both Trump National Bedminster and Trump National Doral in 2023.

‘Not an easy decision’: Why this longtime PGA Tour site embraced LIV Golf

LIV previously announced the 2023 season would run from February to September and would not conflict with the majors, international team events or heritage PGA Tour events.

With Wednesday’s announcement, here is LIV Golf’s 2023 schedule so far:

  • LIV Golf Mayakoba (Feb. 24-26) – El Camaleón Golf Course, Riviera Maya, Mexico
  • LIV Golf Tucson (March 17-19) – The Gallery Golf Club, Marana, Arizona
  • LIV Golf Adelaide (April 21-23) – The Grange Golf Club, Grange, Australia
  • LIV Golf Singapore (April 28-30) – Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore
  • LIV Golf Tulsa (May 12-14) – Cedar Ridge Country Club, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
  • LIV Golf Valderrama (June 30- July 2) – Real Club Valderrama, Cádiz, Spain
  • LIV Golf Greenbrier (Aug. 4-6) – The Greenbrier Resort (Old White), White Supher Springs, West Virginia

LIV Golf not going anywhere; “totally separate” from PGA Tour, PIF negotiations

Speaking ahead of LIV Golf’s Adelaide event in his native Australia, Greg Norman offered his perspective on the state of the game.

Share All sharing options for: LIV Golf not going anywhere; “totally separate” from PGA Tour, PIF negotiations

LIV Golf, Greg Norman

Since LIV Golf launched in the spring of 2022, golf has been in flux, with the game’s best players competing on two separate circuits.

Many other issues exist within this reality, too. Money, equity, and, given who LIV Golf’s beneficiary is, moral issues and geopolitical ramifications have all bled into the sport.

Nevertheless, in an attempt to rectify this, PGA Tour brass and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) established a framework agreement on Jun. 6, 2023 , that not only shocked the sporting world but also set a pathway for the two sides to come together and re-establish a unified golf tour. Negotiations have occurred since then, but a finalized deal remains far away.

Yet, LIV Golf did not appear within that framework agreement then, and they do not have any influence on those negotiations now, according to LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman .

“I would love to give you insight, but I don’t have any. We at LIV are totally separate from that part of the negotiation,” Norman said in South Australia ahead of this week’s LIV Golf Adelaide event.

Greg Norman

“We at LIV are a standalone company being invested in by the same investor interested in the game of golf. Our investor wanted to invest in LIV because he loved the opportunity of the franchise model, what he could do with it, and how we could build it out on a global platform.”

Since last June, Norman has continued to champion LIV Golf’s cause, indicating on numerous occasions that its strength as a start-up league has never been stronger.

Nobody knows how LIV will look or how it will fit into professional golf’s new structure should the PGA Tour and the PIF strike a deal.

But Norman remains as confident in LIV Golf as he ever has. He said he received numerous compliments at Augusta National , where he lingered among the patrons at this year’s Masters Tournament . Norman said dozens of people approached him there and told him they love what he and LIV Golf have accomplished.

“The support, the recognition, the comments that were made, it was almost unanimous for three straight days walking around with people,” Norman said.

“To see it and to hear it and to hear the comments they made about what’s happening to the game of golf and the go that LIV has brought to the game of golf, it was very, very strong for me. It was a very powerful three days.”

LIV Golf

Norman, who envisioned a global golf tour in the mid-1990s, has seen that dream become a reality through LIV. He has helped bring golf to different places around the world often neglected by the PGA Tour and other major tours, such as Singapore, Thailand, and his native Australia.

In its first full year of operation last year, the event in Adelaide welcomed 77,000 fans, making it LIV’s most successful event of 2023. The “Watering Hole,” which has drawn comparisons to TPC Scottsdale’s famous par-3 16th , was a smashing success, too.

Over 100,000 spectators are expected at the South Australia tournament this week.

“This event here from last to this year is the benchmark for LIV,” Norman said.

“We get all the other events, 13 events around the world, to take a look at what we’ve delivered here, what Adelaide has delivered, what the state government has delivered, and what the local community and the region have delivered, and you go. It can be done.”

Norman’s focus remains on LIV, not on the negotiations between the PIF and the PGA Tour.

“I don’t know what’s going on over there,” Norman added.

“I really don’t want to know what’s going on over there because we are so fixated on growing and developing and building out what LIV is today and looking and doing our schedule for 2025 and going into 2026. Our responsibility is to look after our people, our players, and where we want to go.”

2024 Zurich Classic odds, field: Surprising PGA picks, predictions by model that's nailed 11 majors

X ander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay look to reclaim some team magic when they pair back up for the 2024 Zurich Classic. The PGA Tour's yearly team event tees off Thursday at TPC Louisiana in New Orleans, and 80 two-man teams will be in attendance for tee off on Thursday. Schauffele and Cantlay were the winning duo back in 2022 and they are the 5-1 favorites on the 2024 Zurich Classic odds board. Should you back this pair of California natives with your 2024 Zurich Classic picks? Or should you back Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry at 8-1 odds?

Will Zalatoris and Sahith Theegala are listed at 11-1 in the lastest 2024 Zurich Classic odds, and Collin Morkiawa and Kurt Kitayama follow at 16-1. Defending Zurich Classic champions Nick Hardy and David Riley are 80-1 longshots to have repeat success. Before making any 2024 Zurich Classic picks, be sure t o see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model correctly predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, and the RBC Heritage this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 11 majors entering the weekend and hit the Masters three straight years. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the Zurich Classic 2024 field is finalized, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard .

Top 2024 Zurich Classic predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Zurich Classic 2024: McIlroy and Lowry, who've combined for 26 wins on the PGA Tour, barely crack the top five. McIlroy is set to play in his fourth consecutive event when he tees off at TPC Louisiana. He's failed to crack the top-10 in seven of his eight starts on the PGA Tour this season, while Lowry has finished T-19 or worse in six of his past eight events.

Both players have struggled mightily on the green this season. McIlroy enters the 2024 Zurich Classic ranked 78th in strokes gained: putting (0.119) and 72nd in putting average (1.758), a big reason why he ranks 98th in scoring average (70.44). Lowry, meanwhile, ranks 99th in strokes gained: putting (-0.012) and 143rd in putts per round (29.38), which doesn't bode well for their chances to finish on top of the leaderboard this week.

Another surprise: Rasmus Højgaard and Nicolai Højgaard, 35-1 longshots, make a strong run at the title. The twin brothers have a much better chance to win it all than their odds imply, so they're a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

The Danish twosome has been making headlines abroad for years now, becoming the first brothers to ever win events in consecutive weeks on the European Tour back in 2021. They are now making noise on the PGA Tour as Nicolai finished second at the Farmers Insurance Open back in January and finished T16 in his first ever Masters appearance earlier this month. Nicolai also played this event last year, so his experience makes the duo an under-the-radar competitor at the 2024 Zurich Classic.  See who else to pick here .

How to make 2024 Zurich Classic picks

The model is also targeting three other teams with odds of 35-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .

Who will win the 2024 Zurich Classic, and which longshots will stun the golfing world? Check out the Zurich Classic 2024 odds below and then visit SportsLine to see the projected Zurich Classic leaderboard , all from the model that's nailed 11 golf majors, including the last three Masters.

Five Things to Know About the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro

Bunched leaderboard means a hollywood ending in store at wilshire.

  • Tournament News

Hannah Green of Australia watches her shot from the second tee during the final round of the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro

Just days after Nelly Korda clamored for a platform on which she and her fellow pros can showcase their talents, the LPGA Tour heads to the biggest stage of them all: Hollywood. The sixth edition of the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro gets underway on Thursday at Wilshire Country Club, nestled in the heart of Los Angeles. Here's a look at what you need to know about the Tour’s return to the City of Angels.

The JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro has attracted a strong field of 144 players, which includes 17 of the top 25 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. And while Nelly Korda made easy work of last week’s venue at The Club at Carlton Woods, many of the world’s top-ranked players failed to advance to the weekend and are teeing it up in Hollywood looking for a bounce-back. Rose Zhang, Danielle Kang and Jin Young Ko are among those who didn’t play the weekend in Houston and are poised to compete this week. Both Zhang, who is making her tournament debut, and Kang, grew up in the Los Angeles area. Ko will make just her fourth start of the season as she’s had a limited playing schedule this year.

The field also features past champions Moriya Jutanugarn (2018), Minjee Lee (2019), Nasa Hataoka (2022) and Hannah Green (2023). Three sponsor exemptions were extended to Emma Talley, who picked the first top-five finish of her career in L.A. in 2018, Muni He who considers Wilshire Country Club one of her home courses and Yu-Sang Hou, who is splitting her time playing both the LPGA and Epson Tours in 2024.

Hannah Green Defends

Already a winner this season on the LPGA Tour, Hannah Green returns to Wilshire Country Club seeking a successful title defense for the first time in her LPGA Tour career. Green, who won the HSBC Women’s World Championship earlier this year at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore, picked up her third career victory last season in Los Angeles. The Aussie won in thrilling fashion by draining a 25-footer on the 72nd hole to get into a playoff with Aditi Ashok and Xiyu Lin. Green then won with a par on the second extra hole at Wilshire Country Club, a dramatic victory which marked her first win in four years on the LPGA Tour.

Big Bucks Up for Grabs in Hollywood

In 2023, when JM Eagle and Plastpro took over sponsorship of the LPGA’s annual Los Angeles Tour stop, they did so with the commitment to elevate the tournament, hoping to serve as a motivator for other events to follow suit. They immediately doubled the tournament’s purse to $3 million and continued their commitment to women’s golf by increasing the purse again this year to $3.75 million, additionally covering the cost of hotel accommodations for players in the field. The purse of the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro is the largest outside the majors and CME Group Tour Championship.

How to Watch

Golf Channel and Peacock will carry live coverage of the first and second rounds at Wilshire Country Club on Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 26 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. ET. Third and final round coverage will also air live on Golf Channel and Peacock on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. ET.

What’s Next?

Following this week’s trip to Hollywood, the Tour takes a one-week hiatus before returning to action with back-to-back weeks in New Jersey for the Cognizant Founder’s Cup, where Jin Young Ko is defending champion, and the Mizuho Americas Open, where Zhang earned her breakout win in 2023.

2024 Zurich Classic odds, picks, predictions: Golf expert fading Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry at TPC Louisiana

Sia nejad reveals his zurich classic 2024 picks, props, and sleepers for this week's pga tour event at tpc louisiana.

rory-mcilroy-usatsi.jpg

Nick Hardy and Davis Riley look to successfully defend their crown when they compete in the 2024 Zurich Classic, which begins Thursday at TPC Louisiana. After teaming up with different partners in 2022, Hardy and Riley got together for the event last year and took home the title as they set a tournament record with a 30-under par performance to finish two strokes ahead of the Canadian duo of Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin. It was the second straight top-five finish in the event for Riley, who tied for fourth with Will Zalatoris as his teammate two years ago.

Hardy and Riley are 80-1 longshots to repeat, while 2022 champions Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are 5-1 favorites in the latest 2024 Zurich Classic odds. Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are listed at 8-1, Zalatoris and Sahith Theegala are 11-1 and Collin Morikawa and Kurt Kitayama are 16-1. Tom Hoge and Maverick McNealy, along with siblings Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick, round out the top choices at 25-1. Before locking in any 2024 Zurich Classic picks, make sure you see the PGA Tour predictions and best bets from golf betting and fantasy expert Sia Nejad .

Nejad specializes in betting and DFS in golf, among other sports. He's had incredible success in the outright and first-round leader markets, as well as in betting head-to-head matchups. He also has been solid with his head-to-head matchups since last year's Charles Schwab Challenge, going 40-27-3 and returning 9.14 units over that span. That's a $914 profit for $100 bettors since May 2023.

Nejad also nailed 75-1 longshot Wyndham Clark as the outright winner at the Wells Fargo Championship. In 2023, SportsLine debuted The Early Wedge, and in the first three months of the show, he hit two first-round leaders and three outright winners.

Now, Nejad has focused his attention on the 2024 Zurich Classic field and has locked in his best bets, top sleepers and favorites to avoid. See who they are at SportsLine .

Top 2024 Zurich Classic expert picks

One surprise: Nejad is fading the team of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, even though they are among the favorites at +800. After recording 13 top-10 finishes, which included two victories and a pair of runner-ups in 18 events last season, McIlroy has posted just one over eight tournaments thus far in 2024. That came earlier this month when the 34-year-old was third at the Valero Texas Open. Since then, McIlroy has reverted back to the dismal form with which he began the year, as he tied for 22nd at the Masters and 33rd at the RBC Heritage last weekend. The No. 2 ranked player in the world was no better than 21st in his first four events before finishing 19th at the Players Championship.

Considering his compatriot's struggles, Lowry could feel more pressure than usual will be thrust upon him. However, the 37-year-old hasn't had much more success this season either, with just two top-10 finishes in eight events. Lowry, who hasn't posted a victory on the PGA Tour since winning the Open Championship in 2019, tied for fourth in the Cognizant Classic in early March and followed with a third-place performance in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Since then, he has tied for 19th, 43rd and 64th in three outings.

However, Nejad is high on the chances of Will Zalatoris and Sahith Theegala, who are listed at 11-1. Theegala set a career high last season with eight top-10 finishes, the last being his first PGA Tour win at the Fortinet Championship. The 26-year-old has begun this year in strong fashion, recording five top-10s in his first 11 events to match Ludvig Aberg for third-most in 2024. Theegala was runner-up at the Sentry in his season debut and is coming off another runner-up performance at the RBC Heritage last weekend.

Zalatoris did not fare as well in Hilton Head, tying for 44th place, but he has finished in the top 10 in three of his nine outings this season. The 27-year-old's best result of the year came at the Genesis Invitational in February, when he and Luke List were runners-up after finishing three strokes behind Hideki Matsuyama. Zalatoris is eager for a chance at another top-five finish in this tournament after missing last year's edition as he recovered from back surgery.  See which other teams to back at SportsLine .

How to make 2024 Zurich Classic picks

Nejad has locked in his best bets for the 2024 Zurich Classic and is backing several longshot teams, including one that is priced at more than +3000. This team has a member who "may be coming into form" and is a longshot that could surprise.  You can see Nejad's PGA Tour picks only at SportsLine .

So which teams should you target or avoid for the 2024 Zurich Classic, and which team in the   Zurich Classic 2024 field could bring a huge payday at more than +3000? Check out the odds below, then visit SportsLine to see Sia Nejad's top picks for the 2024 Zurich Classic , all from the expert who is 39-27-2 on his last 68 head-to-head picks.
