Bernhard Langer won on Sunday. Again. To break his own record for being the oldest PGA Tour Champions winner. Again. Golfers have longer careers than other professional athletes, but this is just ridiculous.
Langer has had a longer career than most if you just count his time on the senior tour. And he's certainly made more than most. Heck, the two-time Masters champ has made three times as much since turning 50 than he did on the regular PGA Tour. And the dude showed his longevity isn't stopping any time soon after his dominant win at the 43rd U.S. Senior Open.

With 46 career victories on the senior circuit, the 65-year-old German has passed Hale Irwin's seemingly unbreakable record. Here are some other numbers that tell just how amazing Langer's (long) run of dominance has been.
16: The number of seasons Langer has played as well as the number of seasons in which he's recorded a win.
11: The number of consecutive seasons Langer has won at least two tournaments. That's a decade straight of multiple victories. Since turning 55 and being eligible for senior discounts at most places.
6: The number of times he's won the season-long Schwab Cup. Bernhard was nice enough to let Steven Alker or Padraig Harrington win that this year.
40: Langer's number of career runner-ups on the senior tour. That's a lot of close calls on top of those 46 wins!
12: Langer's record number of career PGA Tour Champions majors. He's also the only golfer to have won all five of the senior tour's majors. Let's just call is the Bernhard Slam.

Origin & History of the Senior Golf Tour
The Senior PGA Championship has been unofficially active since 1937 as a high-profile tournament. It was exclusive for golfers above the age of 50.
However, in 1978, a profitable tournament between teams of the best senior golfers called the ‘Legends of Golf’ gave birth to the idea of an official senior golf tour.
The PGA formally established the ‘Senior PGA Tour’ in 1980. This senior tour was designed for golfers aged 50 and above to showcase their talent.
The 1980 tour consisted of only four events. For comparison, the 2021 tour consisted of 25 events. A lot has changed over the years!
The total prize money in 1980 was $475,000, which would be worth $1,707,901 today.
The next ten years, from 1980-1990, saw a considerable increase in the popularity of the senior tournament. The 1990 season consisted of thirty-eight official events with four major tournaments.

Players can get a membership to play in their local flights. Membership cards cost between $85 to $100 annually. The price variation depends on your location.

In professional golf, the PGA Tour Champions all-time wins list is a who's who of the best golfers ever to play the game.
Just to get into the top 10 of the list of most career PGA Tour Champions wins, a player needs 20 PGA Tour Champions titles, a staggering figure considering all of those wins are amassed after a player turns 50 years old.
The two men with the most career PGA Tour Champions wins are Bernhard Langer and Hale Irwin, each with 45 PGA Tour Champions-recognized wins.
Langer won the 2023 Chubb Classic to tie Irwin's mark, winning at 65 years, 5 months, for his 12th PGA Tour Champions win in his 60s. With his next win, Langer will become the all-time leader in PGA Tour Champions wins. He already holds the record for the most majors won by a senior golfer with nine. He is also the only golfer to have ever won all five senior majors.

Bernhard Langer wins U.S. Senior Open, sets mark for career wins on PGA Tour Champions

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- Bernhard Langer won the U.S. Senior Open on Sunday at SentryWorld to break the PGA Tour Champions' career victory record.
Pushing his record as the oldest winner on the 50-and-over tour to 65 years, 10 months, 5 days, the German star broke a tie with Hale Irwin for the victory mark with No. 46.
"I have my mother that's going to be 100 on August 4th, so I think I have good genes," Langer said. "Hopefully, I'll be around a few more years."
Seven strokes ahead on the back nine, Langer bogeyed the final three holes for 1-under 70 and a two-stroke victory over home-state favorite Steve Stricker on the tree-lined course with thick rough.
"Never thought it would happen at a U.S. Senior Open, but I'm very thrilled that the record of 46 wins happened this week," Langer said. "It's certainly one of the greatest tournaments we ever compete in, and to beat this field, where everybody was here, especially Stricker and [Jerry] Kelly on their home grounds, is a very special feeling."
Langer finished at 7-under 277, with only eight players breaking par for the week. He shattered the tournament age record set by Allen Doyle in 2006 at Prairie Dunes at 57 years, 11 months, 14 days.
"There are a lot more aches and pains than 10 years ago," Langer said. "I still enjoy the game. If I play like I did this week, I'm going to keep playing. There have been the odd week when I thought, 'What were you doing out here? Go home and play with the grandkids.'"
The two-time Masters champion has a record 13 victories since turning 60 and holds the top five spots on the oldest winners list. He has multiple victories in 11 straight seasons and 14 overall.
Also the 2010 U.S. Senior Open winner at Sahalee outside Seattle, Langer extended his record for senior major victories to 12. He won the Chubb Classic in Florida in February to tie Irwin.
Stricker -- from Madison, 100 miles to the south -- birdied three of the last five holes for a 69.
"It gives all of us hope, I guess, that are out here still playing that we can continue to play as good as he's played for such a long time," Stricker said about Langer. "It's really impressive. I knew he wasn't going to back off today."
Stricker won the first two senior majors of the year and took his hometown Madison event three weeks ago for his fourth Champions victory of the season.
"It seemed like I had a poor nine holes in there every day, and that just ended up costing me the tournament," Stricker said.
Kelly, also from Madison, was third at 4 under after a 71.
"I was way too amped up," Kelly said. "I was trying to be settled and calm, but I was talking more than I have all week. I was moving a little bit faster than I have all week."
Two shots ahead of Kelly entering the round, Langer birdied the first two holes for the second straight day.
Langer added a birdie on No. 5, then rounded from a bogey on No. 6 with birdie on No. 7. He opened the back nine with a birdie on the 10th, parred the next five and closed with the three straight bogeys.
"It was not easy," said Langer, who earned a spot next year in the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. "My age probably showed up toward the end."
Brett Quigley (66) and Rob Labritz (69) tied for fourth at 2 under. Two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen (71), Steven Alker (65) and Dicky Pride (69) were 1 under.
"The rough was difficult and, as many fairways as I missed, I think I did OK," Goosen said. "I was like a cow out there just eating cabbage the whole time."
Langer, paired with Goosen the first two rounds, sacrificed distance for accuracy to stay out of the rough.
"I think that's one of the reasons I did so well. I didn't hit it in the rough very often," Langer said. "Took many 3-woods off the tees at times, but then I had to hit 3-wood into the green or a very long club. But I'd rather do that than hit driver and wedge it out from the rough."

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — It can be said officially now: There's never been anyone better on golf's senior circuit than Bernhard Langer, and he made that point in major style Sunday afternoon.
The German great won the U.S. Senior Open at SentryWorld Golf Course to take sole possession of the PGA Tour Champions record for career victories. While extending his record as the oldest winner on the 50-and-older tour to 65 years, 10 months and 5 days and adding to his mark for most senior major championships with his 12th overall — three more than anyone else — Langer broke a tie with Hale Irwin for the senior career wins mark with No. 46.
Irwin, who turned 78 a month ago, won 45 times from July 1995 to January 2007. He made his last start in January 2021.
Langer, seven strokes ahead on the back nine Sunday, made bogeys on the final three holes for 1-under-par 70 on the tree-lined course with thick rough, finishing the 72-hole tournament at 7-under 277 for a two-stroke victory over Steve Stricker, who was playing in his home state.
Langer won the Chubb Classic in February to tie Irwin.
"It's been very difficult ever since I won my 45th ...," Langer said during the trophy presentation. "Everybody keeps talking. Wherever I play, people come up and say, 'Make this your 46th. Make history here.' It's hard to get away from it. I did very well and was able to block it out and try to stay in the present. I really felt at peace today, which we don't always do."
Langer also shattered the U.S. Senior Open champion age record set by Allen Doyle in 2006 at SentryWorld at 57 years, 11 months, 14 days.

Before his senior stardom, Langer won three times on the PGA Tour, including the Masters in 1985 and 1993, though his greatest success came on the European circuit, with 42 victories on what is now known as the DP World Tour.

Fellow Madison player Jerry Kelly was third at 4 under after a 71.
"I was way too amped up," Kelly said. "I was trying to be settled and calm, but I was talking more than I have all week. I was moving a little bit faster than I have all week."
Two shots ahead of Kelly entering the round, Langer birdied the first two holes for the second straight day.
Langer added a birdie on No. 5, then rebounded from a bogey on No. 6 with birdie on No. 7. He opened the back nine with a birdie on the 10th, parred the next five holes, then closed with the three straight bogeys that were inconsequential on this day.
Rob Labritz (69) and Brett Quigley (66) tied for fourth at 2 under. New Zealand's Steven Alker (65), Alabama native Dicky Pride (69) and two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen (71) of South Africa were another stroke back.
"The rough was difficult, and as many fairways as I missed, I think I did OK," Goosen said. "I was like a cow out there just eating cabbage the whole time."

Bernhard Langer won the U.S. Senior Open on Sunday at SentryWorld to break the PGA Tour Champions' career victory record.
Pushing his record as the oldest winner on the 50-and-over tour to 65 years, 10 months, 5 days, the German star broke a tie with Hale Irwin for the victory mark with No. 46.
"I have my mother that's going to be 100 on August 4th, so I think I have good genes," Langer said. "Hopefully, I'll be around a few more years."
Seven strokes ahead on the back nine, Langer bogeyed the final three holes for 1-under 70 and a two-stroke victory over home-state favourite Steve Stricker on the tree-lined course with thick rough.
"Never thought it would happen at a U.S. Senior Open, but I'm very thrilled that the record of 46 wins happened this week," Langer said. "It's certainly one of the greatest tournaments we ever compete in, and to beat this field, where everybody was here, especially Stricker and [Jerry] Kelly on their home grounds, is a very special feeling."

Langer finished at 7-under 277, with only eight players breaking par for the week. He shattered the tournament age record set by Allen Doyle in 2006 at Prairie Dunes at 57 years, 11 months, 14 days.
"There are a lot more aches and pains than 10 years ago," Langer said. "I still enjoy the game. If I play like I did this week, I'm going to keep playing. There have been the odd week when I thought, `What were you doing out here? Go home and play with the grandkids."'
The two-time Masters champion has a record 13 victories since turning 60 and holds the top five spots on the oldest- winners list. He has multiple victories in 11 straight seasons and 14 overall.

Stricker — from Madison, 100 miles to the south — birdied three of the last five holes for a 69.
"It gives all of us hope, I guess, that are out here still playing that we can continue to play as good as he's played for such a long time," Stricker said about Langer. "It's really impressive. I knew he wasn't going to back off today."

Stricker won the first two senior majors of the year and took his hometown Madison event three weeks ago for his fourth Champions victory of the season.
"It seemed like I had a poor nine holes in there every day, and that just ended up costing me the tournament," Stricker said.
Kelly, also from Madison, was third at 4 under after a 71.

"It was not easy," said Langer, who earned a spot next year in the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. "My age probably showed up toward the end."

Brett Quigley (66) and Rob Labritz (69) tied for fourth at 2 under. Two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen (71), Steven Alker (65) and Dicky Pride (69) were 1 under.

Langer, paired with Goosen the first two rounds, sacrificed distance for accuracy to stay out of the rough.
"I think that's one of the reasons I did so well. I didn't hit it in the rough very often," Langer said. "Took many 3-woods off the tees at times, but then I had to hit 3-wood into the green or a very long club. But I'd rather do that than hit driver and wedge it out from the rough."

When Rory McIlroy teamed up with Shane Lowry to win the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, it marked his 25th victory on the PGA Tour.
It was McIlroy’s first win in 2024 and first since the 2023 Scottish Open in 2023. It was also his first team win in his first visit to the Big Easy.
With 25 wins, McIlroy joins Johnny Miller, Tommy Armour and Macdonald Smith on the all-time wins list. He’s one of 26 golfers in history with at least 25 victories on the PGA Tour.

Chasing 46: Keeping tabs on Bernhard Langer’s pursuit of history

After matching Hale Irwin’s record of 45 career PGA TOUR Champions titles, Bernhard Langer turned his attention to securing the record alone.
It took him just 10 starts to make it happen.
Langer earned his record 46th Champions Tour title at the 2023 U.S. Senior Open, carding a four-round total of 7 under for a two-stroke victory over local favorite Steve Stricker at SentryWorld in Wisconsin. It’s Langer’s second title of the season and his record 12th senior major title. He also breaks his own record (four times over) as oldest winner of a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event, a mark he initially set with his 42nd Champions Tour win at the 2021 Dominion Energy Charity Classic.
Like a fine wine, the 65-year-old German appears to simply get better with age.
Irwin collected his victories between July 1995 and January 2007, while Langer’s first victory came nine months after Irwin’s last, in October 2007.
Sixteen years later, Langer is still going.
He became a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame more than 20 years ago, after a career that included two Masters titles, more than 40 DP World Tour titles and the distinction of being the first man to sit atop the Official World Golf Ranking. Five decades into his pro career, he’s just kept winning and winning and winning. He’s had as many as seven wins in a season (2017), 11 consecutive multi-win campaigns and has hoisted the trophy in nearly one out of every seven starts on PGA TOUR Champions.
Bernhard Langer's record 46 victories on PGA TOUR Champions
In that first PGA TOUR Champions win back in 2007, Langer topped Mark O’Meara by a whopping eight shots to claim the Insperity Invitational. A sign of things to come. After that initial win, Langer won three times in 2008, four in 2009 and five in 2010, including his first two of 11 senior majors. He’s never stopped winning. Every year, more wins. He’s won at least once each year on the PGA TOUR Champions since he started almost 16 years ago. In 2021, the streak seemed in jeopardy until he beat Doug Barron in a playoff to win the Dominion Energy Charity Classic in October. Then he won twice in 2022 before notching his first win of 2023 at the Chubb Classic in February, beating other PGA TOUR Champions stalwarts Padraig Harrington and Steve Stricker by three shots.
In the nine starts between the Chubb Classic and U.S. Senior Open, Langer finished no worse than T26. His form remained solid, and the anticipation grew. Then across four summer days in Wisconsin, he made history.

After opening with even-par 71, Langer carded a second-round 68 to take a one-stroke lead at the halfway point. He matched his 68 on Saturday to build a two-stroke lead heading into the final round. On Sunday, Langer birdied three of his first five holes to seize control and held off Wisconsin’s Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly down the stretch to emerge with a two-stroke triumph.
“It feels awesome,” Langer said afterwards. “It's been a long time coming, but I’m very, very happy. I never thought it would happen at a U.S. Senior Open, but I'm very thrilled that the record of 46 wins happened this week. It's certainly one of the greatest tournaments we ever compete in, and to beat this field, where everybody was here, especially (Steve) Stricker and (Jerry) Kelly on their home grounds, is a very special feeling.
