• Mark Twain Travel Quotes
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one’s lifetime.
To do something, say something, see something, before anybody else — these are the things that confer a pleasure compared with which other pleasures are tame and commonplace, other ecstasies cheap and trivial. Lifetimes of ecstasy crowded into a single moment.
It is the loveliest fleet of islands [ Hawaii ] that lies anchored in any ocean.
No alien land in all the world has any deep strong charm for me but that one [ Hawaii ], no other land could so longingly and so beseechingly haunt me, sleeping and waking, through half a lifetime, as that one has done. Other things leave me, but it abides; other things change, but it remains the same. For me the balmy airs are always blowing, its summer seas flashing in the sun; the pulsing of its surfbeat is in my ear; I can see its garlanded crags, its leaping cascades, its plumy palms drowsing by the shore, its remote summits floating like islands above the cloud wrack; I can feel the spirit of its wildland solitudes, I can hear the splash of its brooks; in my nostrils still lives the breath of flowers that perished twenty years ago.

I beg young people to travel. If you don’t have a passport, get one. Take a summer, get a backpack and go to Delhi, go to Saigon, go to Bangkok, go to Kenya. Have your mind blown. Once you have traveled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey. — Pat Conroy
No man is brave that has never walked a hundred miles. If you want to know the truth of who you are, walk until not a person knows your name. • Adventure Travel Quotes
Adventure is worthwhile in itself. — Amelia Earhart
If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine; it is lethal. — Paulo Coelho
Most of us abandoned the idea of a life full of adventure and travel sometime between puberty and our first job. Our dreams died under the dark weight of responsibility. Occasionally the old urge surfaces, and we label it with names that suggest psychological aberrations: the big chill, a midlife crisis. — Tim Cahill
Only by going alone in silence, without baggage, can one truly get into the heart of the wilderness. All other travel is mere dust and hotels and baggage and chatter. — John Muir
Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit, and as vital to our lives as water and good bread. — Edward Abbey
Once a journey is designed, equipped, and put in process, a new factor enters and takes over. A trip, a safari, an exploration, is an entity, different from all other journeys. It has personality, temperament, individuality, uniqueness. A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us. Tour masters, schedules, reservations, brass-bound and inevitable, dash themselves to wreckage on the personality of the trip. Only when this is recognized can the blown-in-the glass bum relax and go along with it. Only then do the frustrations fall away. In this a journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it. — John Steinbeck
What is that feeling when you’re driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? – it’s the too-huge world vaulting us, and it’s good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies. — Jack Kerouac
A ship is safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are for. — J.A. Shedd
It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any. — Hugh Laurie
Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the Earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white. — Mark Jenkins
The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. — Christopher McCandless
Adventure is allowing the unexpected to happen to you. Exploration is experiencing what you have not experienced before. How can there be any adventure, any exploration, if you let somebody else – above all, a travel bureau – arrange everything before-hand? — Richard Aldington
Be careful because Cambodia is the most dangerous place you will ever visit. You will fall in love with it, and eventually it will break your heart. — Joel Brinkley
• Solo Travel Quotes
To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the most pleasant sensations in the world. — Freya Stark
Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. — Unknown
I can’t think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything. Suddenly you are five years old again. You can’t read anything, you have only the most rudimentary sense of how things work, you can’t reliably cross a street without endangering your life. Your whole existence becomes a series of interesting guesses. — Bill Bryson
The true fruit of travel is perhaps the feeling of being nearly everywhere at home. — Freya Stark
When you’ve managed to stumble directly into the heart of the unknown – either through the misdirection of others, or better yet, through your own creative ineptitude – there is no one there to hold your hand or tell you what to do. In those bad lost moments, in the times when we are advised not to panic, we own the unknown, and the world belongs to us. The child within has full reign. Few of us are ever so free. — Tim Cahill
No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow. — Lin Yutang
He travels the fastest who travels alone. — Rudyard Kipling
Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection. — Lawrence Durrell
When the traveler goes alone he gets acquainted with himself. — Liberty Hyde Bailey
The man who goes alone can start today; but he who travels with another must wait till that other is ready. — Henry David Thoreau
I think one travels more usefully when they travel alone, because they reflect more. — Thomas Jefferson
Loving life is easy when you are abroad. Where no one knows you and you hold your life in your hands all alone, you are more master of yourself than at any other time. — Hannah Arendt
Personally I like going places where I don’t speak the language, don’t know anybody, don’t know my way around and don’t have any delusions that I’m in control. Disoriented, even frightened, I feel alive, awake in ways I never am at home. — Michael Mewshaw

Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road. Healthy, free, the world before me. The long brown path before me leading me wherever I choose. — Walt Whitman
• Anthony Bourdain Travel Quotes
If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them – wherever you go.
Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life — and travel — leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks — on your body or on your heart — are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.
It’s an irritating reality that many places and events defy description. Angkor Wat and Machu Picchu , for instance, seem to demand silence, like a love affair you can never talk about. For a while after, you fumble for words, trying vainly to assemble a private narrative, an explanation, a comfortable way to frame where you’ve been and what’s happened. In the end, you’re just happy you were there — with your eyes open — and lived to see it.
Travel is about the gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown.
I’m a big believer in winging it. I’m a big believer that you’re never going to find the perfect city travel experience or the perfect meal without a constant willingness to experience a bad one. Letting the happy accident happen is what a lot of vacation itineraries miss, I think, and I’m always trying to push people to allow those things to happen rather than stick to some rigid itinerary.
Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds? … I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once.
It seems that the more places I see and experience, the bigger I realize the world to be. The more I become aware of, the more I realize how relatively little I know of it, how many places I have still to go, how much more there is to learn. Maybe that’s enlightenment enough – to know that there is no final resting place of the mind, no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom, at least for me, means realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go.
I think food, culture, people and landscape are all absolutely inseparable.
Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It’s inseparable from those from the get-go.
Southeast Asia has a real grip on me. From the very first time I went there, it was a fulfillment of my childhood fantasies of the way travel should be.
I wanted adventures. I wanted to go up the Nung river to the heart of darkness in Cambodia . I wanted to ride out into a desert on camelback, sand and dunes in every direction, eat whole roasted lamb with my fingers. I wanted to kick snow off my boots in a Mafiya nightclub in Russia. I wanted to play with automatic weapons in Phnom Penh, recapture the past in a small oyster village in France, step into a seedy neon-lit pulqueria in rural Mexico. I wanted to run roadblocks in the middle of the night, blowing past angry militia with a handful of hurled Marlboro packs, experience fear, excitement, wonder. I wanted kicks – the kind of melodramatic thrills and chills I’d yearned for since childhood, the kind of adventure I’d found as a little boy in the pages of my Tintin comic books. I wanted to see the world – and I wanted the world to be just like the movies.
At this point I think my body is like an old car. Another dent ain’t gonna make a whole lot of difference. At best it’s a reminder that you’re still alive and lucky as hell. Another tattoo, another thing you did, another place you’ve been.
Without experimentation, a willingness to ask questions and try new things, we shall surely become static, repetitive, and moribund.
If I’m an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. The extent to which you can walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food, it’s a plus for everybody. Open your mind, get up off the couch, move.
Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.

95 most inspirational travel quotes ever penned
Our favourite inspirational travel quotes have encouraged us to travel with abandon over the years. Perhaps they will do the same for you…
For us, there is no such thing as luxury travel; travel is, by default, a luxury. It is a privilege provided by the country of our birth, a privilege that many are not as fortunate to enjoy.
Sometimes, we have to pinch ourselves at just how ridiculous our lives have become: an ex-teacher and jobbing writer travelling the world for a living. It is absurd, it is astonishing, it is luxury.
When I first went travelling at 21 years old, my father gave me this quote scrawled on a piece of card.
It infused me with wanderlust. It encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone, make the most of my time, see the world and enjoy the freedom that comes with being on the road. It remains one of the most inspirational travel quotes I’ve read (even if Twain did not actually say it).
Today, 20 years and almost 100 countries later, it’s still in my wallet. Despite its tattered and dishevelled appearance, it’s every bit as important to me now as it was then.
With that in mind, we’ve collated our most beloved inspirational travel quotes to encourage readers to “explore, dream and discover” for themselves.

117 Inspirational Travel Quotes to Fuel Your Wanderlust
Who doesn’t love a good travel quote? When I’m feeling a bit glum or stressed (let’s face it, we all do from time to time), I love reading inspirational travel quotes from travellers of centuries past.

Somehow, there’s always that one travel quote that is just what you are looking for to brighten your day, the one that reminds us we can really go out and conquer the world – or that taking that first solo trip is never as scary as it seems.
So here we are, the best travel quotes, inspirational travel quotes, journey quotes , adventure quotes and solo travel quotes to help perk up your day. Are you ready?

The 100 Best Inspirational Travel Quotes to Spark Your Next Adventure
Disclaimer: This post may contain affiliate links. All hosted affiliate links follow our editorial policies .
I was a voracious reader when I was growing up, typically reading two books a week on average.
My lower-middle class family didn’t have the money to do much in the way of traveling, outside of the occasional camping trip in North Georgia . Both my parents worked, and my dad worked multiple jobs to support his family of five.
The furthest we ever traveled was a trip to visit my godparents in Virginia when I was 14. So instead I read books about travel and adventure long before I had the financial means to start taking adventures of my own.
It was the written word that originally fueled my travel dreams, from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island and Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Books to Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea .
It was through Henry David Thoreau’s Walden , John Muir’s Our National Parks , and Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Nature that I developed a passion for the environment. Without them, who knows if I would’ve become the advocate for ecotourism and wildlife conservation I am today.
And when I finally started traveling, the work of travel writers such as Jon Krakauer , Bill Bryson and Paul Theroux greatly influenced the way I did it.
But the first classic quote I remember having a significant impact on me came in the form of a Robert Frost poem: “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference.” This idea influenced many of my choices, setting me on the path to becoming a full-time professional writer in my twenties.
For me, these inspirational travel quotes aren’t just words: They are the distillation of a philosophy that continues to drive my life and work today. I hope they will prove equally influential for you… –Bret Love; photos by Bret Love & Mary Gabbett

Oasis Lyrics: Their Top 10 Best Lines
The Gallaghers’ most iconic lines exposed and explored…
10 ‘Some Might Say’
“Some might say they don’t believe in heaven, go and tell that to the man who lives in hell.”
Their first number 1 smash and the last song Tony McCarroll ever drummed on is a lyrical highlight, inspired by Noel’s move from Manchester to the Big Smoke. Albeit typically mad in moments (“The sink is full of sihes/Cos she’s got dirty dishes on the brain”), it’s about hedonism and rock’n’roll and not giving a shit what anybody else thinks.
9 ‘Rock N Roll Star’
“I live my life for the stars that shine, people say it’s just a waste of time… In my mind my dreams are real/Tonight I’m a rock’n’roll star.”
This may as well be Liam Gallagher’s theme tune. It opened ‘Definitely, Maybe’, and is the best entry point for the beginning of the whole Oasis story because it was the song that secured their relationship with producer Owen Morris. “I live my life in the city, and there’s no easy way out/The days moving just too fast for me” precedes a chorus about the eventual escapism of the weekend when you can be whoever you wanna be.
8 ‘Champagne Supernova’
Recommended.
“Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball.”
As psychedlic as Oasis could be, a song about being “in a champagne supernova in the sky” closed out their second album with its swirling tidal waves and endless guitar solos. This particular line, according to Noel, is about a children’s TV character who took ages to walk down the hall – ‘hall’ being the only word he could think of to rhyme with ‘cannonball’.
6 ‘Supersonic’
“I know a girl called Elsa, she’s into Alka Seltzer/She sniffs it through a cane on a supersonic train.”
“I need to be myself, I can’t be no one else,” so the first single of Oasis’ career began. Noel wrote the lyrics after a drink. He didn’t want beer (too heavy) or whiskey (headache-inducing), so he went to the off-license and bought gin and tonic for the studio. While he was writing the words, the studio dog Elsa farted and jumped off a stained couch. Bonehead cracked a joke about the dog’s incontinence and Noel incorporated it into the song. And the rest is history.
5 ‘Live Forever’
“I think you’re the same as me, we see things they’ll never see.”
A Peter Pan theme tune for a misunderstood generation who wanted to remain young and reckless for all time (see also: the “D’You Know What I Mean’ b-side ‘Stay Young’ featuring the chorus: “Hey! Stay young, and invincible cos we know just what we are.”). Unifying this generation with a rousing sense of togetherness, idealism, hedonism and vitality was Liam’s powerful snarl. Nobody in the world could deliver this line quite like him.
4 ‘Morning Glory’
“All your dreams are made, when you’re chained to the mirror and the razorblade.”
Originally there were two works-in-process titled ‘Blue’ and ‘The Mirror And The Razorblade’, which would later be amalgamated to become the title song of Oasis’s second album. Noel has previously stated that the song is about taking drugs with your friends, solving all the world’s problems, then waking up the next day with a massive hangover. The music video was made by legendary director Ridley Scott’s son Jake. Noel suggested the Foo Fighters ripped off the concept when they filmed ‘Monkey Wrench’.
3 ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’
“Stand up beside the fireplace, take that look from off your face/You ain’t ever gonna burn my heart out.”
As with many Oasis ideas, ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ borrowed from The Beatles. Noel Gallagher bought a cassette on a trip to America that featured John Lennon’s memoirs, where his idol was talking about starting a revolution from his bed. Noel took lead vocals having told Liam that he had the choice of whether he could sing ‘Wonderwall’ or this. Liam chose the former. Rumour has it there are versions with Liam’s vocals, but only Noel would know whether they actually exist.
2 ‘D’You Know What I Mean?’
“Comin in a mess, going out in style, I ain’t good looking but I’m someone’s child.”
It was the first taster for their third album ‘Be Here Now’ and immediately announced a band who’d swallowed their own schtick and largely disappeared up their arses. Which let’s face it was inevitable given the success of the previous two records. They were a bunch of chancers from Manchester who now found themselves in possession of everything they ever dreamed of. Cue a very, very elaborate concept for a music video where the band enter via helicopter. Style, indeed.
1 ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’
“Is it my imagination or have I finally found something worth living for/I was looking for some action, but all I found was cigarettes and alcohol.”
A clarion call in 1994 to all the disaffected youth from cities outside of London who were fed up, overworked, underpaid and living for the weekend.

If you are on a staycation at a hotel, you can use this as a hotel quotes for Instagram.
You know, sometimes we get so caught up in the idea that a vacation has to involve jetting off to some exotic destination or embarking on a grand adventure.
But the truth is, there’s something truly special about staying right where you are.
I’ve come to realize that a staycation isn’t just about saving money or avoiding the hassle of travel (though those are definite perks).
It’s about embracing the beauty and wonder that can be found in our own backyard.
For me, a staycation is all about slowing down, savoring the little moments, and rediscovering the magic of home.
Whether it’s indulging in a leisurely brunch, visiting that museum I’ve been meaning to check out for ages, or spending quality time with loved ones, there’s so much joy to be found in the familiar.
Looking for staycation captions for Instagram? This is one of the best staycation quotes for Instagram that you can use.
32. “Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.” – Matsuo Basho
I’ve always found so much wisdom in Matsuo Basho’s words: “Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.”
It’s like a gentle reminder that life isn’t just about reaching some distant destination; it’s about embracing the journey, wherever it may take us.
Looking for a home for next few days caption? I’ve come to see each day as an adventure waiting to unfold, filled with unexpected twists and turns, highs and lows.
And you know what? That’s what makes it all so beautiful. It’s not about the final destination; it’s about the experiences, the lessons, and the memories we gather along the way.
And here’s the thing – home isn’t just a place we go back to at the end of the day. It’s the feeling of comfort, of belonging, of being exactly where we’re meant to be, no matter where we are.

33. “Adventure awaits, even in your own backyard.” – Unknown
There’s this short staycation quotes that always puts a smile on my face: “Adventure awaits, even in your own backyard.”
It’s like a gentle nudge from the universe, reminding me that excitement and discovery are never too far away, even when I’m just chilling at home.
I’ve come to realize that adventure isn’t always about jetting off to far-flung destinations or embarking on epic quests.
Sometimes, it’s right there, waiting for us to uncover it, right in our own backyard.
So whether you’re looking for staycation caption ideas or accommodation quotes, this is one of the most inspiring ones.
34. “Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Looking for a short caption for staycation? This might be one of the best. It’s like a gentle reminder to slow down, take a deep breath, and embrace the natural rhythm of life.
I’ve come to realize that nature has this incredible way of teaching us some of life’s most valuable lessons, and patience is definitely one of them.
Just look at the way a seed slowly grows into a towering tree, or how a river carves its path through the landscape over centuries.
It’s all about taking things one step at a time, trusting in the process, and knowing that good things take time.
It can also be used as a caption for staycation or holiday home quotes.
35. “The best part of staying home is getting to discover the magic that’s been hiding in plain sight.” – Unknown
Searching for a stay for next 2 days quotes? There’s something truly magical about staying home and discovering all the hidden gems that have been right under my nose this whole time.
It’s like unlocking a treasure trove of wonders that I never even knew existed.
I’ve come to realize that the best part of staying home isn’t just about the comfort and familiarity of my own space (though that’s definitely a perk).
It’s about taking the time to slow down, look around, and appreciate the beauty that’s been hiding in plain sight all along.
Whether you’re looking for a home for the next few days caption or baecation quotes, this one really is the best you can use.

What’s the meaning of staycation?
Also known as a holistay , a staycation is a time in which you stay home as a couple or with your family.
However, that doesn’t mean that you don’t do anything all day long to have a fun and happy staycation.
No, there are plenty of staycation ideas that are active and fun. During a staycation, most things to do are located within driving distance of your home and do not require overnight accommodations.
However, that doesn’t mean you can’t book and enjoy a hotel staycation to feel like you’ve left home.
A staycation can last for a few days or just be a weekend staycation in your hometown.
Whether you are planning to do a staycation for couples or a staycation for family, they all have one thing in common: discover your hometown through new glasses.

A staycation is a period of time in which an individual or family stays at home or near home and participates in leisure activities within driving distance, rather than traveling to distant locations for vacation.
What are fun hotel quotes for Instagram?
There are a lot of hotel quotes or hotel staycation captions for Instagram, but this one is my favorite – “Checking into happiness, one hotel room at a time!” It doesn’t matter if you’re staying at a normal hotel or a luxury one as it can also be luxury hotel quotes.

Why is travel insurance important?
What does travel insurance cover, how do i know if i need a single trip or an annual multi-trip policy, where can i find up to date information on the country i am travelling to, why choose oasis insurance, should i declare my medical conditions when purchasing travel insurance, how to make a claim on my travel insurance policy, how do i contact oasis insurance, what does covid-19 protect cover in comparison to our standard covid-19 cover.
Travel insurance is designed to cover certain financial risks and losses which can occur while traveling. The losses can be minor such as delayed baggage or more significant such as a medical emergency. Either way having travel insurance helps mitigate such risks and not leave you out of pocket. Please see our policy wording for a full list of what is and is not covered on our travel insurance policies.
Oasis Insurance offers 3 different types of travel insurance policies; Single Trip, Annual Multi-Trip and Backpackers. A policy will usually cover the following:
- Emergency Medical & Repatriation
- Cancellation
- Curtailment (cutting short your trip)
- Personal Accident
- Personal Possessions
- Baggage Delays
- Missed Departure/Connection
- Travel Delay
- Personal Liability
