We were rather taken aback by Aqua Safari. It faces out to the estuary of the River Volta, a mile or so upstream from the ocean. From an open-sided restaurant and bar you can watch island-dwelling locals crab-fishing and clam-diving in the water. The forward-thinking owners offer guided tours to the islands for boat-building and basket-weaving workshops – there’s also a lot of water to play around in on a jet-ski or from one of the pontoons. Game-fishing excursions can be arranged too. Best of all is the option to spend a lazy couple of hours exploring one of the most beautiful areas of Ghana by boat. The whole river environment has a relaxed and gentle pace of life; a stark contrast to Accra two hours away.

The rooms are well-appointed, and the large chalets all have sizeable common areas and kitchens. There’s also a small pool if you don’t fancy a dip in the river, as well as a large new conference centre with all the modern amenities you’d need.

About the Resort

The mastermind behind this idea envisioned a situation where he could creatively and positively enhance natural environments through scientific and technological interventions whilst keeping the natural environment intact and attractive.

The objective is to create a hospitality brand that mimics nature and, through this, aim at bringing people and animals closer into common existence and understanding. Ultimately, this brand seeks to replicate God’s handiwork in the biblical Eden here in the serene natural valleys in the Okere District in Ghana.

Our Environment

With a total land area of 600 acres, Safari Valley Resort boasts an ambience of serenity void of noise and air pollutants. It hosts a variety of indigenous and exotic tree species, lawn cover of over 250 acres of landscape, ponds, aquariums, a natural waterfall, man-made water canal spanning over 400 meters, 26 bore holes with modern filtration and purification technology, electric transportation system throughout the resort and solar lights.

Aqua Safari is the answer to an immense demand for high-end accommodation and hang out spots in the coastal area of Ada in the Greater Accra Region, 1 hour outside the city center.

Ada is well known as a place where wealthy Ghanaians come to take a break from the city, do watersports, and build large luxury homes on the water’s edge. In addition, the territory consists of the town of Ada Foah and various fishing communities.

While Ada has a handful of hotels that have been in existence for a number of years, Aqua Safari is the most contemporary, and the plushest.

The hotel is set on the Volta River, before it gives out to the ocean, and the finest feature of the hotel is the common restaurant and bar area, with its long wooden deck, that leads to a jetty perched on the river.

The hotel’s least fine feature happens to be the rooms, which consists of 71 standard and deluxe rooms, and chalets. While they are clean and comfortable, and not offensive to the eye, they are far from stylish. The finishings could certainly be higher quality, and greater attention could have been paid to the small details that infuse a hotel with class and charm.

Aqua Safari does however boast a private beach, with white sands, and come the evenings the whole area is lit up with subtle and romantic floor lighting and lamps, making the resort rather magical.

The hotel offers watersports, such as jet ski, as well as boat rides around the wonderful picturesque surrounding backwaters, making it a popular destination for families.

Aqua Safari also lends itself well to a wedding, as well as conferencing venue.

Aqua Safari offers four main types of accommodation and charge per room per night. With the water – Standard rooms which start from 670GHc, (max guests 2) – Deluxe rooms which start from 1000 GHc (max guests 2) – Waterfront rooms from 2,200 GHc (max guests 2) – Two Bed chalet from 2,200 GHc (max guest 4)

The deluxe, waterfront and chalets are extremely spacious. The chalets are practically a 2 bedroom apartments with kitchen area and a very large lounge. So a family of 4 plus grandma and grandpa can all enjoy a stay if opting for the two bed chalet

What’s The Weather Like At Safari Valley Resort?

One of the most common questions people ask when booking a stay in the mountains of Aburi is the weather there. The average monthly temperature at the Safari Valley Resort ranges from highs of around 30 degrees Celsius, with a drizzle of 33%, humidity of 64%, and wind range of about 16km/h. 

In brief, it’s hot and humid when it needs to be, but pretty cool all year round! Regardless of when you plan your visit to Safari Valley, you can expect the weather to be warm and pleasant, with the months from  May  to  June  generally being somewhat wetter than the rest of the year.

What To Pack When Booking For a Stay At Safari Valley Resort

As mentioned earlier in this post, the weather at the Safari Valley is hot and relatively humid throughout the year, so it’s best to dress for both.

Unless a specially-themed event has been organized for your stay or you prefer to dress up for dinner, there is no need to bring bright clothes. Hence, safari-themed clothes and beach wears are just fine.
