History and description

Stadio San Siro, officially named Stadio Guiseppe Meazza, was a project of former AC Milan president Piero Pirelli. In the first two decades of the 20th century, Milan had already occupied various grounds, and by the early 1920s played at a ground at the Viale Lombardia.

Though a perfectly fine ground, it soon turned out to be too small for the club’s growing number of fans, and therefore architect Stacchini, also responsible for Milan’s central station, was hired to design a complete new stadium.

Stadio San Siro officially opened on 19 September 1926 with a friendly between Milan and Inter (3-6). The stadium initially consisted of four separate stands and could hold 35,000 spectators.

San Siro was first owned by AC Milan, but was sold to the city of Milan in 1935, who were soon forced too enlarge the stadium due to the club’s increasing popularity.

Plans were made for a massive stadium for 150,000 spectators, but these were in the end significantly scaled down. The redeveloped San Siro opened in 1939, and consisted of one fully enclosed tier.

Until 1945, Milan had been the sole occupant of San Siro, but were then joined by Inter, who had before played at the Arena Civica.

San Siro got further expanded in 1955 when a second tier got built on top of the first one, which resulted in a capacity of about 85,000 places.

In the following decades, San Siro hosted two European Cup finals : the first in 1965 between Inter and Benfica (1-0), and the second in 1970 between Feyenoord and Celtic (2-1).

The stadium had earlier gotten ignored as a playing venue for the 1968 European Championships, but did get selected for Euro 1980. At the same time it got officially renamed Stadio Guiseppe Meazza, in honour of the ex-player of both Inter and Milan.

During the 1980 European championships, San Siro hosted three first round group matches.

Soon after, Italy got awarded the 1990 World Cup , and it became clear that San Siro was in need of a major upgrade. The option of building a new stadium was contemplated, but architects Ragazzi, Hoffer, and Finzi instead chose for an ambitious redevelopment plan.

Works included the construction of a third tier, a roof that would cover all seats, and eleven cylindrical concrete towers around the stadium to support the extra tier and roof structure. The resulting capacity was 85,700 seats.

During the World Cup, San Siro hosted the opening match between Argentina and Cameroon (0-1), three further group matches, a round of 16 match, and the quarter-final between Germany FR and Czechoslovakia (1-0).

The stadium got further refurbished in later years, and capacity reduced slightly due to UEFA safety requirements. In 2001, it hosted the Champions League final between Bayern München and Valencia (1-1) and in 2016 the final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid (1-1).

Both Milan and Inter have looked at building a new stadium elsewhere, having found themselves constrained in their development due to the deteriorated state of the stadium and ownership by the city of Milan. Inter was the first to announce plans to build a new club-owned stadium in 2012, but shelved these when Milan revealed concrete plans to build a new stadium in the Portello area, instead opting to renovate San Siro. However, Milan’s move fell through in 2015 and future plans of both clubs are currently unclear.

How to get to San Siro

San Siro is located in the west of Milan at approximately 5 kilometres from Milan’s city centre and more than 7 kilometres from Milan’s central railway station.

If arriving by car from the direction of Turin (A4), Genova (A7), or Bologna (Autostrada del Sole), make your way to the western ring road (Tangenziale Ovest) and take exit 3 to the Via Novara. Signs will direct you from the motorway to the stadium.

If coming from the direction of Venezia, take the exit towards the Viale Certosa. After the exit signs will guide you to the stadium.

San Siro is easily reached by  metro  due to the recently opened new purple M5 metro line. The nearest stations are San Siro Ippodromo and San Siro Stadio, both a short walk from the stadium. Line M5 passes north of Milan’s city centre past Garibaldi station and from most central places a change will be required either at Lotto (red M1 line) or Garibaldi station (green M2 line). It takes a little under 20 minutes to get from Piazza Duomo to the stadium.

Alternatively, the stadium can be reached with tram 16. Take the tram in the centre of Milan (west of Piazza Duomo) to San Siro Stadio, the last stop on the line. The journey takes about half an hour.

Eat, drink and sleep near San Siro

San Siro is located in a rather quiet residential area, which did not use to offer much in terms of entertainment, but has recently seen a few more bars and restaurants pop up. Still, as the stadium is easy to reach by metro, it makes more sense to eat and drink in the centre or in one of Milan’s other livelier areas, and head to the stadium just for the match. Of course, there are plenty of food stalls around on the day of the match for a quick panino.

If you prefer to stay the night close to San Siro and are on a budget, then the recently opened B&B Hotel Milan San Siro will be an excellent pick. It is located right next to the stadium. MI. Style is another budget alternative right near the stadium.

There is more choice near Lotto metro station, less than a 20-minute walk from the stadium, including some that offer a little more luxury.  Hotel Mélia Milano  gets the best reviews, while  Hotel Montebianco , Best Western Hotel Astoria ,  Hotel Nuovo Murillo , and  Hotel Amendola Fiera  are good options that are a little more affordable. AC Milan Tickets

Tickets for AC Milan games can be bought online through the Milan official website, at the branches of the  Banca Popolare di Milano  bank, at any of the TicketOne sales outlets, or at the Casa Milan ticket office at the Via Aldo Rossi 8 in the north of the city (closest metro QT8).

Tickets are also available at the stadium before the start of the match. Milan tend to only sell out the home matches versus Inter and Juventus. An ID is required in order to buy tickets.

Tickets come in three prices categories. Ticket prices for the cheapest C category start at €20.00 for a seat at the second tier behind the goal, range to €40.00 for the cheapest lower-tier seats at the sides, and range further to €140.00 for a central lower-tier seat at the main stand. Prices for the most expensive Category A games range from €30.00 to €250.00.

Inter Tickets

Tickets for Inter matches can be bought online through the official website or  Vivaticket , in person at any of the Vivaticket sales points , of which there are multiple in the centre around Piazza Duomo, at the San Siro ticket office, or at the Inter Store (opened Thursdays to Saturdays) at the Galleria Passarella 2 in Milan’s city centre.

Tickets are also available at the stadium on the day of the match. Just like Milan, Inter only tend to sell out the derby and the match against Juventus, and an ID is always required to buy tickets.

Regular ticket prices start at €30.00 for a second-tier seat behind the goal, range to €40.00 for a second-tier seat at one of the sides, and further up to € 150.00 for central lower-tier seat at the main stand.

Prices are gradually increased for a number of high-profile matches resulting in prices ranging from €65.00 to €275.00 for the Milan derby. Tickets may be somewhat more expensive if bought on the day at the stadium.

San Siro stadium tours

San Siro houses the combined Milan and Inter museum. It also offers guided stadium tours that include access to the dressing rooms, hospitality areas, and press room. The tours last 30 to 40 minutes.

The museum opens seven days a week from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Tours leave regularly within these hours. There are no or only a few tours on matchdays and different opening times can apply for the museum.

Bookings are not required, but can be made online through Vivaticket . The tour + museum costs €17.00, or €7.00 for access to the museum only.

We are US residents, recently made a trip to Milan last week and had a very bad experience… my 15 year old son is a Soccer fan and wanted to really see the San Siro stadium. we were enroute to Switzerland and decided to stop by and show him the stadium. Very sad to say that just to get into the stadium to take few pics with one of your employee, I was told to pay 16$ for my son and also ticket for me, since I had to go with him. I actually paid for him and then ask for refund after I was told to pay for me.

Even after talking to 4 individuals nothing happened, very disappointed that my son had to return back home with no pictures, he is fan of your team and the stadium, can answer any question you ask him about your team.

Was fantastic experiment to visit the huge Stadium and see AC Milan live

It is a-must-see stadium for every fan of football. Despite its age it is very nice. A walk from the metro takes a short while. Because the stadium is used by two teams you can see the visible signs of tear and wear. The area is very quiet and i would recommend it to everybody.

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour

Taylor Swift is bringing Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour to Levi’s® Stadium on July 29, 2023!

The U.S. leg of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour was announced just days after the eleven-time GRAMMY winner broke streaming, physical and vinyl album sales around the world. Taylor’s critically acclaimed album, Midnights, is the fastest selling album of her career. Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour will be supported by Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN. It will be presented by Capital One and produced by Taylor Swift Touring and promoted by the Messina Touring Group (MTG).

Be aware that the flying of any drones or other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in, over or around Levi’s® Stadium may lead to the confiscation of said UAV and/or subject the pilot to penalty or arrest. We reserve the right to enforce violations to the full extent of the law.

Timeline Saturday, July 29th, 2023

Ticket Policy

• All guests ages 2 and above must have an event ticket to enter the stadium.
• Add your tickets and parking passes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet to expedite entry at parking and stadium gates.
• There is no re-entry after admittance.
• Guests should have their tickets ready to scan upon approaching the stadium entry gates.
• The ticket barcode must be visible no matter the ticket type.
• The Visa Box Office opens at 2:00 pm and is located at the north end of the stadium at Toyota Gate F. Walk-up tickets may also be available at the Visa Box Office.

Tickets will not be emailed or available to print. Your mobile ticket must be displayed on your phone to get into the event.

All guests must be in possession of a valid event ticket, pass or credential to park in a designated parking lot. Please download prepaid parking passes ahead of time and add them to your mobile wallet for an expedited parking process. Day of parking will be available on a limited basis. Credit card payment only. 

Mobility Services will be onsite at 1:00 pm to provide roving carts from the mobility kiosks in Red Lot 1.

Bicycle Parking

Bicycle parking will be located outside of Dignity Health Gate C pedestrian bridge only and will be managed by The Silicon Valley Bike Coalition starting at 2:00 pm. The creek trail will close at Agnew Avenue at 12:00 pm. All ticketed guests will be permitted the use of the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail beginning at 1:00 pm.

Buses/Oversized Vehicles 

Buses/oversized vehicles must park in Blue RV and contact the Visa Box Office at 408-579-4449 to purchase parking in advance.

Parking Lots in Operation Please note prices below represent event day pricing.  

Automobiles/Motorcycles – Red Lot 1,Red Lot 2, Blue Lot 1, Green Lot 3 – $60 Accessible Parking – Red Lot 1 – $60 Buses/Oversized Vehicles – Blue RV Lot – $130

Bag check services will be located in Red Lot 1 near Hilton Santa Clara. Bag check services will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bags that comply with Levi’s Stadium® Clear Bag Policy will be allowed into the stadium.

Levi’s® Stadium prohibits all bags, backpacks, and other carriers from being brought into the stadium with the following exceptions:

• Clear Backpacks
• Clear Fanny Packs
• Clear Purses
• One gallon clear plastic zip lock type bags
• Small Clutch Bag (the size of an adult hand) (4.5” x 6.5”)

All individuals and their belongings are subject to search. The following information is subject to change without notice. 

Fans with medical bags or items they must carry with them must be inspected and have a wristband or sticker placed on it to show that it has been inspected. PLEASE ARRIVE EARLIER TO AVOID LAST MINUTE GATE PRESSURE.

The following ARE PERMITTED in the stadium during Levi’s® Stadium Events:

• Bags that comply with the Bag Policy (see Bag Policy above)
• Binoculars shorter than 6 inches (case prohibited)
• Diaper bags accompanying a child
• Reusable transparent water bottles (no alcohol, less than 24 ounces)
• Sunscreen (only cream, no aerosol cans) & hand-powered misters
• Protective face coverings

The following ARE NOT PERMITTED in the stadium:

• No aerosol cans or containers, including sunscreen, pepper spray, bug spray or spray paint cans
• No alcoholic beverages
• No bags that violate the Clear Bag Policy (see Bag Policy above)
• No external battery packs with the exception of phone charging units
• No bicycles, scooters, skateboards, skates, segways or other unauthorized means of transportation
• No professional or commercial cameras/photography equipment, including any cameras with extendable or detachable lenses, video cameras, GoPros, audio recording devices, or tripods; No video or audio recording will be allowed (except personal cell phones
• No cans, glass bottles, metal containers or alcoholic beverage
• No chains, chain wallets, studded jewelry or spurs
• No confetti
• No clothing, costumes, or personal effects that may impede the view of those around or behind you
• No drugs & drug paraphernalia, marijuana & marijuana products
• No coolers (including soft-sided coolers), thermoses, metal water bottles or ice chests
• No flammables or missile like objects, fireworks, road flares, emergency flares, explosives or other incendiary devices
• No glow sticks, light-up costumes, light-up signs
• No handcuffs or other restraint items
• No hoods, masks, or face coverings that hide one’s identity or objects to cover one’s face (medical & religious articles are permitted)
• No illegal substances
• No intoxication or signs of impairment related to alcohol or drugs
• No irresponsible drinking or behavior
• No klaxons, bullhorns, air horns, bells, thunder sticks, radio bells, musical instruments, whistles, or any other noisemakers
• No laptops and laptop Bags, tablets, iPads or digital reader
• No laser pointers of any type
• No lights or battery packs with the exception of phone charging units
• No offensive clothing
• No projectiles (footballs, Frisbees, balloons, etc.)
• No unauthorized promotional, political or commercial materials, including flyers, samples, giveaways, etc.
• No two-way radios or walkie talkies
• No selfie sticks
• No signs or banners larger than 11” x 17”, sticks, bats, clubs or poles
• No drones and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles)
• No umbrellas (no obstruction of other fans view)
• No weapons of any kind (including, but not limited to silverware guns, ammo, knives, tasers, pepper spray/mace,etc.). This applies to all attendees, including off-duty law enforcement and concealed carry permit holders.

Anyone possessing PROHIBITED items will be asked to return them to their cars or dispose of them in the garbage cans provided at the gate.

Valley Transportation Authority (VTA)

VTA will operate increased train service from Mountain View station (Caltrain transfer) and Milpitas station (BART transfer) two hours prior to event start. Post-event service will run for approximately 60 minutes post-event. For more information, please visit  www.vta.org .

Guests heading to the concert can get off at the Mountain View station and transfer to VTA light rail service to Levi’s Stadium.

Post-Concert Northbound – Service Mountain View to San Francisco:

• Northbound 145 – 11:33 PM
• Swifty Special will depart Mountain View 75 minutes after the end of the show
• Southbound 138 – 10:48 PM
• Southbound 140 – 11:18 PM
• Southbound 142 – 11:44 PM
• Southbound 144 – 12:15 AM
• Southbound 146 – 1:18 AM

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)

BART will operate regular weekday and weekend schedules.

Guest heading to the concert can get off at the Milpitas Station and transfer to VTA light rail service to the Levi’s Stadium. Post-concert, BART will run two special event service limited-stop trains that will depart Milpitas Station at around 12:30am serving limited stops after regular BART service ends. The special service will stop only at the following stations:

• Pleasant Hill
• El Cerrito del Norte

Capitol Corridor

Capitol Corridor will operate regular weekday and weekend schedules westbound to Santa Clara. Post concert, Train 550 on Friday will depart GAC at 11:59 PM, and Saturday Train 750 will depart GAC at 11:59 PM. For more information, please visit www.capitolcorridor.org .

The rideshare drop-off location at Levi’s® Stadium for this event will be on Great America Parkway curbside, between Tasman Drive and Old Glory Lane. The pick-up zone is located in Red Lot 7. Follow signage and staff instructions for additional directions.

Parent drop off will be located on Great America Parkway by Tasman Drive and Old Glory Lane. Pickup will begin at 10 pm on Patrick Henry Drive. Please refer to the map and directions below.

All accessible parking will be directed to Green Lot 1. Guests who possess a valid placard will be directed to park and must display their placard at the entrance to be admitted.

Levi’s® Stadium takes pride in providing elite service to all guests including those requiring mobility assistance. We provide a variety of services for our guests with special needs. Included in these services are courtesy shuttle buses from selected parking lots, golf cart shuttles in the Main lot, and Guest Services representatives to provide wheelchair service if requested. Guests that require additional assistance are encouraged to contact our mobility assistance team at 408-579-4610 or email [email protected] .

Assisted Listening Devices will be available at all Guest Services kiosks presented by United located throughout the stadium.

Drop-off will be located on Great America Parkway by Tasman Drive and Old Glory Lane. Pickup will begin at 10PM on Patrick Henry Drive. Please refer to the map and directions here.

Early merchandise sales will begin on Thursday, July 27th from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM in Red Lot 1. Parking lots will open for this event at 8:00 AM in Red Lot 1.

Show day merchandise sales will be available at 2:00PM and will remain open until the end of the show. Merchandise will be located in Red Lot 1 as well as inside the stadium for fans with tickets. Parking will not be available in Red Lot 1 for fans without a ticket. Fans will not be permitted to line up earlier than 2:00PM. Restrooms and water for purchase will be available near the merchandise areas.

There’s no time like the present, Swifties.

On April 19, Taylor Swift dropped her 11th studio album “The Tortured Poet’s Department.” As expected, the 34-year-old singer-songwriter became the internet’s main character.

Some raved about the sprawling, ambitious double album; others criticized the record for its length, subject matter, and lyrics.

All we know is that in the seven days that have passed, ticket prices to see Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ live have plummeted for most of her concerts in Europe.

Based on our findings, most shows have seats available that are significantly cheaper than they cost just a week ago.

In fact, some tickets are over $1,000 less than they were on April 19 already.

While it’s not the case for her U.S. and Canada gigs — where prices have mostly stayed flat or slowly risen — we’d argue it might be in your best interest to book tickets to an overseas ‘Eras Tour’ concert given this cooldown.

Over the past few months, we spoke to a Swiftie who  shared some helpful tips  about seeing Taylor live and  came up with a list of all the most exciting fan trends .

As noted above, Swift’s  “The Tortured Poets Department”  was released at midnight (and subsequently at 2 a.m.) on Friday, April 19.

Taylor only has two opening acts lined up for the ‘Eras Tour’ this year.

Here’s what you need to know about her well-established special guests.

Paramore  will play alongside Swift after mounting a massive 2023 tour of their own. The group, fronted by lead singer Hayley Williams, reunited in 2022 after a five-year hiatus. For fans who want to check out their latest, you can listen to “This Is Why,” their sixth studio album, which dropped in February 2023.

Gracie Abrams , the daughter of film director JJ Abrams and producer Katie McGrath, is a star in her own right. Her song “I miss you, I’m sorry” has upwards of 100 million streams on Spotify, she opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the 2022 “Sour Tour” and headlined her own tour last spring as well.

Official taxis can cost a bomb in Moscow, and after taking a ride in one you wouldn't be surprised to hear that your driver was called Boris Korruptikov. Buses, trolleybuses and mini-buses offer a slightly less comfortable way of getting around town, and should be used when the metro won't take you where you need to go. Expect plenty of argy-bargy to get in, but once inside admire the reliability with which money changes hands as those at the back pass their roubles to the front for a ticket.

There are no trams in the epicentre of Moscow and they tend to be useful only for joining the outer districts of town with the metro system. You can buy a ticket on board or at a kiosk.

Renting a car isn't prohibitively expensive in Moscow, however the city's ring roads can make the most experienced driver break out into a cold sweat. Apart from dodgy manoeuvres from your fellow drivers, just heading in the right direction can be quite a headache...

We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads.
