Six Flags Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure: An Interactive Zoo Experience You Won’t Want To Miss

If you ever thought of going on a safari, here’s your chance— in NJ. The wildly popular Six Flags Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure in Jackson opens the weekend of April 1 and is teeming with over 1,200 exotic animals from six continents ready to greet you and the whole family. Drive your car down a winding path where African elephants, reticulated giraffes, and red rhinos pass by your window (and maybe even stop traffic) in areas that mimic their natural habitats. Ready to go? Scroll down for all the details for going on a wild adventure at Six Flags Wild Safari—no passport needed. ( Feature Photo Credit: Six Flags Safari )

All the animals at Six Flags Wild Safari Drive-Thru

Six Flags Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure is unique because you never have to leave your car. The drive-thru is separated into 12 sections to show how animals live in distinct natural habitats. You’ll have the opportunity to watch a Roosevelt Elk run in The Americas, see an ostrich peck at your window in Afrikka, or view an African Lion at rest in Kingsland. As you wind around the loop, slow down by Baboon Village. This fan-favorite is where you can watch this rowdy troop jump all over a large metal piece in their exhibit (this metal piece is actually from “Lightning Loops,” a Six Flags Great Adventure rollercoaster that was deconstructed years ago). And not to worry, the baboons are no longer allowed to jump on your car like they were years ago ( whew ).

Here’s what to know about the Drive-Thru before you go

The Six Flags Wild Safari Park is a total of 4.5 miles of paved road, and the drive-thru timing depends on the animals’ behavior (if they are out and about) and the traffic since you drive through super slowly—but expect it to take at least an hour. To make the experience even better, you can download a guide for all the details on the animals and facts. During the tour, you will see gates with signs that say “checkpost” to guide you to where you are and what you will see. Safari team members are available at many of the gates to help you with anything you might need during your adventure. And the animals can be temperamental (especially in crummy weather), so be prepared that you might not always see specific species. Whether you’re planning to go for the day or even just a quick visit, you’ll want to purchase tickets online and reserve a time and date to go. Tickets start at $24.99 for adults and $19.99 for seniors and children under 48″.

Six Flags Wild Safari Drive-Thru is only part of the park

If your family is still up for an adventure, New Jersey’s largest and most popular theme park, Six Flags Great Adventure , is right next door with rides, restaurants, and hours of entertainment. Six Flags Great Adventure’s main park has plenty of thrilling and tame rides for all ages and lots of special events planned for 2023. This Spring Break, visit Six Flags in New Jersey for Scream Break from April 8-15 for a frighteningly good time that includes some of the features from Fright Fest, like haunted houses, a scare zone, ghouls, and nighttime rides. If you’re thinking about going this summer, you’ll want to head over to Six Flag’s water park, Hurricane Harbor, and spend the rest of the day sliding and splashing on the lazy river and in the pools—a perfect ending to a day “on safari.” New this year, there will be lots of tamer options for younger kids, including a treehouse splash park and 7 new colorful slides that spin and whirl smaller riders. And good to know if you want to add this to your day— Six Flags Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor require separate ticket purchases from the Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure.

For 50 years, new jersey’s largest amusement park has been wowing families with thrill rides that take your breath away, family fun and so much more. to help make the most of your visit, we’re highlighting the top things to do at six flags great adventure in jackson.

Get Your Thrills By far, Kingda Ka is the planet’s reigning rollercoaster – holding the titles as the world’s tallest and North America’s fastest. It’s an experience to buckle up for as you go from 0 to 128 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds to rocket 456 feet up before shooting straight down into a 270-degree spiral. Gather your courage before hopping in line because this ride is not for the faint of heart.

Speaking of daring descents, you’ll find Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom built into Kingda Ka’s structure. Here’s what you’ll experience: Boarding a gondola that zooms 415 feet in the air in just 30 seconds. Before your brain has time to process that astronomical ascent, you’re plunging at 90 miles per hour for 10 seconds.

With a name like El Toro (translation: the bull), this is one wooden coaster you’ll need to grab by the horns! And coaster connoisseurs have taken notice, bestowing this 70 miles per hour, 4,400-foot-long beast with a #1 USA Today 10 Best Award (2022), Amusement Today Golden Ticket Award (2017) and #1 Wooden Coaster in the World ranking by the 2011 Internet Coaster Poll.

During your park visit, don’t miss out on this additional trio of legendary coasters: Nitro (top speed = 80 miles per hour, elevation = 230 feet), Medusa (top speed = 60 miles per hour, elevation = 142 feet) and Jersey Devil Coaster (top speed = 58 miles per hour, elevation = 130 feet).

Feel Heroic (or Villainous!) Six Flags Great Adventure also showcases thrill rides inspired by DC Comics characters. Unveiled for 2024 is The Flash: Vertical Velocity – this “super boomerang coaster” is the first of its kind in North America. Named for the famously fast superhero, the ride speeds upside down almost 100 feet off the ground and features a 180-degree twisted drop followed by a Zero-G roll. Only a clown-faced bad guy could bring the chaotic ride that is The Joker. This free-flying-and-falling coaster is a 4-D experience delivering unexpected head-over-heel drops with no track above or below to give you even a sliver of security.

The Joker

The one question you have to ask yourself before boarding the Green Lantern is, “Can I stand it?” Because you have to. Stand, that is. Fully upright, you’ll travel 63 (silky smooth) miles per hour into a 144-foot drop, 121-foot loop and more surprises along 4,155 feet of track.

Are you brave enough to tackle Superman: Ultimate Flight? This innovative coaster of steel will have you flying (yes, actually flying – face down and head first!) at speeds up to 60 miles per hour.

Rounding out the DC Comics collection of thrill rides are The Dark Knight Coaster, Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth, justice League: Battle for Metropolis, BATMAN: The Ride, CYBORG: Cyber Spin and HARLEY QUINN Crazy Train.

Lasso of Truth

Get Wet & Wild Be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind taking a soaking when you hop board Congo Rapids and Saw Mill Log Flume. For a full waterpark immersion during summer’s hottest days, you’ll want to buy a ticket for Six Flags Hurricane Harbor as well. Prefer wild to wet? The park’s beloved Wild Safari Off-Road Adventure returns in 2024.

Bucket Dump

Wow The Little Ones For kiddos that aren’t quite hitting the height requirements for the park’s big thrill rides, strap them into the Lil’ Devil Coaster, Sky Zooma and Storm Chaser. Ready to take the fun to new heights for the whole family? Get in line for the Giant Wheel and Skyway Frontier Adventures. Of course, no amusement park visit is complete without a whimsical whirl around the Carousel.

Exercise Spin Control Not a rides kind of person? Be sure to consult the park’s entertainment calendar so you don’t miss out on live shows and meet-and-greet sessions with your favorite cast of characters. And mark your own calendar for special events hosted throughout the season. All are sure to knock your socks off – even as you keep your feet planted firmly on the ground.

From burgers and chicken fingers to funnel cakes and frozen treats, Six Flags Great Adventure is full of fast and fun  places to eat and drink so you can stay fueled up throughout your visit. You also have the opportunity to shop ‘til you drop at themed gift stores . Take home the swag and merch that will help you remember the great adventure you had at the park!

Play It Smart Six Flags Great Adventure offers plenty of tools to help you navigate your adventures in adrenaline, starting with their detailed park map . Savvy strategizers will also want to take advantage of a third-party online crowd calendar to pick a not-so-busy day to visit. Can’t take the wait for the park’s most popular rides? Consider adding a Flash Pass to your daily ticket or season pass purchase. If someone in your party has a disability, we recommend checking out the park’s Safety & Accessibility Guide .

Extend The Good Times At this point, you must be thinking, “There are just too many things to do at Six Flags Great Adventure to fit into one day!” That’s true. Fortunately, there are plenty of campgrounds and hotels near the park to grab a good night’s sleep before getting right back at it the next day.

For families that want to turn a great adventure into a grand adventure, a stay in Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa (opening 2024) will provide the ultimate safari glamping experience in a custom luxury tent with roaming giraffes mere feet from your accommodations.

Before hopping in your car and heading to Six Flags Great Adventure, be sure to check out the park’s official website for the latest visitation details. For future vacation inspiration, we encourage you to download our free travel guide and sign up for our e-newsletter .

What’s new at the Six Flags Great Adventure Drive Thru Safari?

Similar to 2022, there are new animals to see and new enhancements to the Six Flags Safari.

New animals at the Six Flags Great Adventure Drive Thru Safari

Here’s what guests visiting the drive thru safari this spring can expect to see.

Five Stunning Siberian Tiger Cubs

  • Five Siberian tiger cubs turn one-year old in May and will be introduced to an exhibit in a new area of the safari.

Young Animal Additions

  • Adorable European brown bear cubs under specialized care, a rare newborn bongo calf and a sable antelope calf all join the safari in 2023.

In 2022, these were the new Six Flags Safari animals.

Sawyer, the Southern White Rhinoceros

  • Six-year-old (now 7 years old) Sawyer joins three adult female rhinos in the Afrikka section of the safari. Although grey in color, the southern white rhinoceros is the largest living species of the five species of rhino, averaging 4,000 to 6,000 pounds. At 3,800 pounds and growing, Sawyer has a youthful bounce in his step and enjoys human touch like scratches from a bristle brush. With a diet of hay and grain, Sawyer and his fellow rhinos are one the world’s last remaining “mega-herbivores” – a large animal that eats mainly plants. He lives side-by-side with other animals native to Africa such as elephants, ostriches and zebras.

Three Reticulated Giraffe Calves  (now toddlers)

  • Three adorable and graceful calves were born in the safari this winter and join the safari’s “tower” (group) of 13 giraffes. Native to Africa, giraffes are the tallest land mammal on Earth. They can stand up to 17 feet tall and weigh from 1,500 to 3,000 pounds. A giraffe’s long neck measures up to seven feet long, and despite its length, contains seven vertebrae just like humans. Due to habitat loss, poaching, and other human-wildlife interferences, giraffes are considered “vulnerable to extinction.”

Two sable antelope calves (now toddlers)

  • This striking, horse-like antelope from Africa boasts a tufted tail, mane, and impressive, ringed horns that curve like a scimitar. Typically settling near water, the sable is an herbivore. In the wild, their beautiful horns are a highly prized trophy for hunters. Born in the safari, the pair of sable calves now reside in the Serengeti Grasslands section along with exotic hoof stock like addax, white-tailed gnu (black wildebeest), and aoudad.

Two red lechwe calves (now toddlers)

  • Identifiable by their reddish fur, white-ringed eyes, and tall horns reaching up to three feet long, this type of antelope is usually found near aquatic areas in Zambia and Botswana and are considered a “near threatened species” in the wild. The safari’s red lechwe calves, born onsite this winter, reside in the Wilde Plains section with a vast array of African species such as giraffe, greater kudu, ankole cattle, dama gazelle, white-bearded gnu (blue/brindled wildebeest), bongo and more.

Two Asian water buffalo calves

  • Two adorable Asian water buffalo calves join the Afrikka section. While they bear some similarities to their African cousins, the Cape buffalo, these are domesticated animals. In the wild, they are commonly found on farms as beasts of burden. Their milk, which has more fat than that of domestic cattle, is used for making liquid butter in India. In the safari, they are true to their name and are often found submerged in ponds with only their heads visible above water.

Spring brings more baby animals to the Drive Thru Safari (now toddlers)

The Animal Care Team looks forward to welcoming an array of adorable babies including the exciting arrival of giraffe babies and scimitar calves.

Safety improvements at the Six Flags Great Adventure Drive Thru Safari Made in 2022

  • Roadway Enhancements – Guests enjoy a smooth experience on an expanded, two-lane roadway with five newly paved miles of blacktop. The wider roadway helps to better accommodate guests who wish to enjoy the tour at their own pace and accommodates school buses for educational programs.

More Highlights for the 2023 Six Flags Great Adventure Drive Thru Safari

  • Georgia the Giraffe  celebrates thirty-one years of life, likely one of the oldest giraffes under human care and a grandmother to many giraffes on property.
  • Save an Icon Pin Program  returns with proceeds benefitting the Wildlife Conservation Network. This 2023 collectible pin will feature both the Bald Eagle and Blue and Gold Macaw.
  • Monthly Safari Overnights  Six Flags Wild Safari will host their popular monthly overnight camping adventures this summer, a unique experience for a lifetime of memories.

Guests will learn fun and educational facts about the animals, hear fascinating animal sounds and music from around the world. At the start of their adventure, guests will receive a handout with QR codes that take them to the audio tour and safari map. The audio tour is free and can be streamed from any mobile device.
  • Volta Electric Vehicle Charging Stations  – Compatible with all electric vehicles, units are available in the safari parking lot.

a car drives past an elephant in the drive thru safari at Great Adventure.

Are there any differences between the new drive thru safari and the old one?

The safari was renovated in 2013 for the opening of Safari Off Road Adventure, and some of the sections were redefined. That pathway remains in place. Plus guests will be able to visit the Baboon Jungle prior to exiting the safari. Camp Aventura will remain closed.

You no longer have to worry about the baboons. No. In 2003, fencing was added along the roadway to separate the baboons from the cars.

How long will the drive thru safari be available?

To ensure the safety of guests and maximize on social distancing guidelines, the safari will remain a self-drive-thru experience after Six Flags Great Adventure opens for the regular season. They do plan to reopen the Safari Off Road Adventure in the near future. No date has been set.

Will there be restrooms available?

There will be indoor restrooms available at the exit of the safari.

Will there be any souvenirs to buy?

Yes! There will be concession stands for souvenirs or refreshments at the end of the safari tour.

Stay tuned. This is a developing story and we can’t wait to bring you more details.

Six Flags NJ opening safari resort, glamping-style with exotic fauna & scenic views

Waking up in a luxurious tent surrounded by wild safari animals is typically an experience reserved for visitors to Sub-Saharan Africa, but now that exotic experience is coming to New Jersey.

A brand new safari resort is coming to Jackson Township, offering guests luxurious bedrooms with scenic views of free-roaming giraffes, oryxes, wildebeests and many other African species.

The Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa is scheduled to open in 2024 as an addition to the Six Flags Great Adventure theme park complex, which already had a 350-acre safari available for visitors.

Also arriving next year will be an extreme, 60-mph coaster that the company claims to be the first super boomerang coaster in North America.

The new additions to the themed park complex — the second largest in the world — represent the largest investment the park has made in 20 years, Great Adventure president Brian Bacica said in a press release.

With the new resort, visitors can experience the 1,200-animal safari through an off-road guided tour and also wake up in a luxurious "glamping" experience inside it.

The resort will include a spa and a fine-dining restaurant surrounded by wild exotic fauna. The guest rooms will look like tents resembling “authentic African lodges,” said Staci Wheeler, Six Flags Great Adventure spokesperson. The resort will be the first of its kind within the Six Flags brand, Wheeler said.

“The campsite will be located in the middle of our Wild Safari," Wheeler said. "We will have a number of animals that freely roam around the enclosed campsite."

The safari animals will stay on site year-round with climate-controlled indoor housing available for all tropical animals. A full-time animal care team will look over their well-being, said Wheeler.

A full list of amenities and details, such as pricing and opening date, are yet to be released by the company. As of today, the company confirmed that there will be various discount packages available.

Been wanting to take a trip to the Safari for a while now since I haven't been since I was a kid...back in the days of rolled-down windows and animals eating food from your car hoods...those days are long gone. Conveniently located right off I-195 with lots of fast-food and resting options nearby along Route 537/Monmouth Road - Wawa, McDonalds, Burger King, Popeyes, Taco Bell, KFC, Starbucks and Seven-11. We purchased tickets in advanced: $25 per adult and $15 for seniors and children under 48". There is a +/- $5 for each ticket depending on the day....i.e. midweek or on certain holidays. We followed the signs for the Safari (there are also lanes for Hurricane Harbor and Great Adventure) and presented our printed tickets to the booth attendant. We then proceeded on to the Safari. They do stress not to roll down your windows and maintain a slow (max. 5 mph) pace throughout the safari. Most cars kept pace except for a few who stopped for a few extra minutes to take photos of certain animals, or those who made their way closer to the road making for some great photo ops. There are two lanes so those who wish to go around can do so...and those who wanted to wait a the photo ops patiently waited for the cars up ahead to pull up. Overall is was a good experience...I wish there was a bit more to see or more animals were closers or ventured closer to the road. Also, as an avid picture-taker...taking photos with the windows up creates all kinds of glare issues....so it is really difficult to get any good and clear photos. Although the "Audio-tour" was interesting...it was only about 45 minutes and it takes about 1.5 hours to navigate through the safari...so the pacing made it very difficult to follow as you have to (or assign someone else in the car) pause and wait for the next area. In the past they offered and tour truck where you can ride around in a high truck which has an open top allowing for some great photos...it didn't seem to be open this year. I hope it returns in the future since that will ease the issues of driving yourself. At the end of the safari, there is a small gift shops with some stuffed animals. There are also bathrooms available there. I don't know if the experience is currently worth the admission prices....keep in mind that everyone in the vehicle requires a ticket...so a family of two adults and two children under 48" will pay about $85-90 after fees....I don't think that is worth it based on the experience, or lack there of. I believe more appropriate prices would be $15/10. I also was unable to find any discounts for the Safari.

I went on a light rainy day with my family. Although it is a bit drizzling, we were able to see alot of animals too. My girls were both soo excited. We enjoyed our time at the safari. Something to do with the family even on a rainy day. By the time we finish with the safari, the rain stopped and we stopped by the theme park to grab something to eat. Will definitely return back.

Driving through the six flags safari is a sacred activity for me. I have used my season pass to come here weekly, multiple times even, because I absolutely love seeing the beautiful, majestic animals. I come here with my mom and this is now a special activity we love to do together. So much that right now with it being January all we keep talking about is we cannot wait for the day it is spring and the safari once again opens. There is a warm and fuzzy feeling I get thinking of the safari, so I'd like to detail my day leading to the safari and why it means so much more to me than just "driving to six flags". My mom and I get up early for breakfast and will discuss how excited we are to see "such as such" animals. We almost know the different animals by sight now and wonder what they'll be doing "today". I have so many videos and photos of these special animals I feel that I've grown close to them in a way. We've named some of them so when we see them we can refer to them by name. It's an adorable pastime between a mother and daughter and I seriously can't stress how much I look forward to going here every year. It's also nice that we get to drive through ourselves because my mother has severely arthritic knees and cannot walk even from a parking lot, let alone to get up inside the high up vehicles they have for some guests to do an outdoor experience. Being able to drive in our own vehicle gives my mother joy to be able to do fun activities with me and not have to sadly say she 'cannot do this activity because her knees hurt her so bad'. I've seen joy removed from my mother's eyes when she can't do some activities with me anymore, so the drive through safari is, as I said, a sacred and loving activity. I love seeing the animals and their beauty, and taking photos of them when I can. Otherwise, phones and cameras are non existent to us as we are doing something that isn't done often anymore: living in the moment.

I personally enjoyed the safari - my favorite part had to be the giraffes!! They decided to step onto the road and block all traffic so when we drove past them we got a close and personal encounter We took about 1.5 hours to drive around the whole safari. Sometimes the animals would be away or hiding, but that's expected. Honestly, it's worth visiting with a season pass since it's included but if you're paying separately for it, I don't think it's reallyy worth it!

We really loved the safari.. our 2 trips during the pandemic. Definitely a must do with kids, once, for sure.

Photo of Marvelyn N.

This was such a fun safari and zoo!! My family and I had such a good time driving around and interacting with the animals. I think it's a much better thing than walking around in a huge park lol! We got to drive around at our own pace on a Monday!! The animals came close to the car and the kids loved it. I would definitely go again. I wish I had a zoo like this growing up. The only thing is you have to keep your windows up the whole time for safety. That's the only down fall. But I understand the liability.

Photo of Dale B.

Brought my girl to six flags for her bday and of course we have to do the safari first. I personally think safari's are lame but she loves animals in captivity so here's how it went. First thing I'm going to say is the habitats are garbage. It looks like they just dropped exotic animals in someone's gated backyard in NJ. The most popular animal you see in there is the ostrich. Keep in mind they do have a decent amount of animals and they have an audio tour you can follow to learn about them but if you want a real animal adventure I'd just go to a zoo. You drive through at a max speed of 5 mph. The best part is when you get to the giraffe part because they seem to enjoy walking between cars. They also seem to enjoy tasting your car because they spent a good amount of time licking mine. I love six flags but they need to invest more money in their safari or something. Disney was miles ahead of the game as far as the habitats go. 2.5 / 5

I used to go through the drive thru safari all the time when I was younger. Granted things are a bit different: such as the Monkeys can't jump all over your car like they used too! We really enjoyed being able to drive and stop at our own pace. Prices have really increased in comparison to a long time ago (obviously ) but 19.99 per person is a bit much in my opinion. Hoping maybe they will bring back the standard one fee per car. There's a pretty good variety of animals that you can see and lots of opportunities to stop and take pics. Definitely a must to take kids to!

Photo of Tre E.

Due to the heat we were looking for something that the family could do that involved air conditioning. We realized that you could ride through the safari in the comfort of your own vehicle and decided to come here. Only a couple types of animals came close to the car and to me it seemed like they had blocked off some of the road ways/areas to make the ride shorter. Everything seemed outdated and like the whole thing needed a refresh. Also we didn't see any toys for the animals to play with (you know for example at the zoo they give elephants tires and other objects to play with). But I will say the kids really enjoyed riding through so I was happy we went. We arrived right when it first opened and it wasn't crowded. There are two lanes but everyone was respectful and didn't block each others views by stopping right next to each other. At most there was maybe 2-3 cars near us at some points and then people would either pass us or we would pass them since you get to drive at your own pace. It was empty enough to where we would drive stretches and see no cars in front of or behind us. When we were leaving it was starting to fill up and there were many cars in line entering. I'd suggest you try to get there when they open so you can really take your time and not have to worry about people blocking your view or tailgating you. I think it's overpriced for what you're getting to see. A zoo would have been more fun and we would have been able to get a much closer look at all of the animals. But the convenience of being able to be in the air conditioned car was what we needed on this hot day. I'm giving it 4 stars for the joy that it brought my kids. They liked the safari and at the end of the day that's what it's all about. We went and can check this place off the list but it was not exciting or interesting enough to come back.

six flags safari nj hours today

It's an okay way to spend an afternoon to drive through. Definitely not worth a drive from Philadelphia, though. Some of the animals seem unbelievably sad. There were like 20 lions in close proximity with nothing to do. The inly highlight was that there were a ton of emu babies. Never thought i'd ever see that- they were quite cute as they ate one piece of grass at a time. The lines here are unbelievably slow, though. Took 15 minutes to even enter the place when we hd 2 people in front of us. Bad signage, too- there were a few conflicting signs that caused us some headache. Overall, not the worst way to spend an afternoon, but nothing exceptional here. May as well just go to a zoo.

Ever wanted to go glamping on safari without having to fly to Africa? Check out the new vacation experience that just started taking reservations at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.

What is 'Glamping'?

Well, according to the Oxford Dictionary, glamping is a noun, a thing you DO, defined as 'a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping'.

Moreover, Oxford brilliantly describes glamping as 'likely to satisfy any city slicker seeking a little refuge in nature—without foregoing any of life's luxuries'. Tru dat, Oxford, tru dat.

Introducing Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa

Yes, and SPA.

Six Flags Great Adventure may have just created one of the coolest looking retreats in all of New Jersey.

Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa offers visitors luxury resort accommodations, including 20 suites (for couples and families), VIP dining, spa services, panoramic views of the 350-acre safari, and more, according to NJBiz.com .

Here's what Six Flags Great Adventure President Brian Bacica has to say about the park's first resort:

“We are excited to welcome guests this spring to the Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa, where opulence meets the open savannah in the heart of New Jersey. Our team is planning every detail to create a luxury experience welcoming guests to enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of our resort. Whether you seek relaxation, a family adventure, or a romantic getaway, Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa promises to exceed your expectations."

Not to mention the resort sits right in the middle of Great Adventure's Wild Safari! I just want to sleep with a tiger, and if I can't sleep with a tiger, I don't want to go, lol.

The Ultimate Girls Trip

I'm just imagining bridesmaids from all over the Garden State frantically corresponding to book bachelorette parties here, lol. It makes for a unique adventure, that's for sure.

Reserving Your 'Great' Adventure

Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa is now booking stays starting June 14, 2024, just as the summer season gets underway in the Garden State but prepare to clear your credit card.

In perusing the Six Flags website , it looks like glamping suites start at $699 a night with a two-night minimum and go up to $1200/night for a Family Glamping Suite that sleeps up to six people.

Six Flags Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa

The new Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa at Six Flags Great Adventure will open next year, officials said. Six Flags Great Adventure

  • Brianna Kudisch | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

A new overnight “glamping” safari experience is coming to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, the theme park announced as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.

Savannah Sunset Resort & Spa will have visitors “waking up in an ultra-luxurious tent, watching the sunrise over scenic fields as giraffes freely roam just feet away while you enjoy your morning cup of coffee,” the company said on its website.

The resort will be set within the 350-acre Wild Safari Park and is slated to open next year, officials said. Further details, including the price of a stay, have not been released.

Great Adventure has long had a safari park that visitors can tour to see giraffes and other animals.

At the new resort, visitors can experience the animal safari through an off-road guided tour and wake up in the “glamping” accommodations, which will include a spa and fine-dining restaurant.

The overnight luxury camping experience is one of several new project openings at the Ocean County-based theme park.

Great Adventure is also unveiling its 15th roller coaster, called THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity . It is the first “super boomerang” coaster to open in North America, according to the company.

The roller coaster will open in 2024 as the theme park celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The new attractions are part of a larger investment Six Flags has made at its theme parks nationwide this year, the company said.

More than 13 attractions will soon launch across the nation — one of the “most substantial planned investments” at the parks in more than a decade, the company said.

The new thrill ride at Six Flags Great Adventure will open in 2024. The roller coaster will shoot riders up toward a vertical tower at 59 miles per hour before pausing and dropping backwards toward the ground, according to the theme park. Courtesy of Six Flags Great Adventure
