Turnstile enlist Snail Mail and JPEGMAFIA for fall 2022 tour

The new dates arrive with a music video for “new heart design” from the album glow on ..

Punk polyglots Turnstile have added a bunch of fall North America dates to their wildly successful TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION tour. For openers, they'll bring along the indie rock singer-songwriter Snail Mail as well as alt-rapper JPEGMAFIA on most of the shows. Pre-sale tickets go on sale Wednesday, June 22 at 10 a.m. local time with a general sale starting here on Thursday, June 23 at 10 a.m.

To get a sense of what the shows will be like, you can watch the music video for "NEW HEART DESIGN," out today. The band's Brendan Yates co-directs the clip with Ian Hurdle and places the viewer just outside of the pit while the band runs through the song, a genius blend of new wave and hardcore. Snail Mail in Bangkok. Sounds odd, and it was odd. Or "cool", as Lindsey Jordan said in her brief introductory words. She did not talk much, even when she left the stage, in a bit of a moody way, or shy or who knows. It does not matter, though, this is about music, not about profiling people...

The gig was powerful, yet one had the impression that the audio monitoring was not great. The voice... always the voice. But maybe it is just intended, and it is meant to sound like that. Nico, etc.

Snail Mail are a powerful and fresh rebirth of the best virtues of noise-rock, guitar-driven bands, and a beautiful sense of melodies building webs of ups and downs, bringing the ears to unexpected places, all put together with alarming simplicity and, again, beauty.

In 2018, Snail Mail offer a similar set ot emotions as the ones one felt in the mid 90s when Pavement where at their peak, or Throwing Muses. There is a fantastic weird elegance to the way Lindsey Jordan acts on stage, an amazing confidence. It is appaling how she deploys her skills with the guitar, how she sounds so focused and precise, sort of a extremely young talented Neil Young. It was amazing to witness this genius live in such a small venue.

50 years went by and still The Velvet Underground remains one of the main sources of inspiration for the best rock bands offering decency and commitment onstage.

High energy concert 29 June 22 @ a packed Kentish Town Forum from a band clearly having a great time performing. The rockier numbers sounded fantastic, channeling Wild Nothing vibes, particularly Speaking Terms, Glory and, saving best for last, show-closer Pristine. Other highlights of the set included Lindsey capturing Courtney Love c1994 with a punky cover of Hole's Miss World, sparring gently with her personal guitar tech throughout, and refusing to leave the stage without finishing every last drop of beer in her can. Highly entertaining throughout!

Support band The Goon Sax started the night off with some catchy tunes from across their back catalogue. Older tunes She Knows and Sweaty Hands threatened to steal the show with rare clarity against the otherwise wall-of-sound set list. Then came the stand out song from new album Mirror II, In The Stone, which is now in line for some heavy rotation.

It's cliche to say that a performer is better live, but in this case I don't know what else to say. Lindsey Jordan's songwriting is so advanced, haunting, and somehow nuanced. These songs shine in a poppy and extremely catchy light on her LP, Lush. But when performed live, her songs have more raw energy, and Jordan's voice cuts through the guitar and drums, asking for all of your attention. "Full Control", "Let's Find an Out", and "Anytime" were my personal favorites of the night. I will definitely be seeing Snail Mail (Lindsey Jordan) again when the opportunity arises.

Saw them at The Sinclair in July and damn they put on a show they played all of their songs and had people dancing around. Lindsey sang perfectly and she had great things to say in between songs. It was strange she didn't introduce the other members but I digress and she didn't do that annoying thing where you get off the stage just to keep playing a minute later.

I enjoyed the venue and I really liked hatchie...I liked snail mail performance as well...her voice was almost gone, and she could barely sing ..I guess because she was sick or the wear and tear of touring...but I enjoyed singing along :)

Lindsey Jordan’s vocals are completely beautiful and unique. The entire show radiates with the same lo-fi bliss that listeners fell in love with through Lush. A performance completely worthy of time and distance traveled.

Concert was awesome, all three bands were great. The band played at lot of new material and killed it. Can’t wait to see them again when hey come back around.

Turnstile’s New ‘Love Connection’ Tour Dates Will Also Feature Snail Mail And Jpegmafia

When The Turnstile Love Connection Tour began earlier this year , every date on the tour sold out. The Baltimore hardcore band has been riding the enormous wave of last year’s widely-praised album Glow On, and are have now announced a new set of North American tour dates. So if you didn’t get into the Turnstile show the first time around, not only do you have an opportunity to finally scratch the itch, but the second leg of the Love Connection tour now also features fellow Baltimore acts in Snail Mail and Jpegmafia. And while the artists are disparate in nature, Turnstile will put the ultimate hometown lineup to the test.

With the tour announcement, also comes a new video for “New Heart Design.” The 16mm-shot clip features footage from the sweaty and raucous first leg of the tour. Snail Mail Announces Sophomore Album 'Valentine'

The beloved indie-rocker is back to break your heart this fall.

After three long years, the beloved indie-rock musician Snail Mail has returned bearing new music, and news of her brand new album.

Titled Valentine , the 22-year-old singer-songwriter’s long-awaited sophomore record won’t be arriving in February 2022, but instead this fall — which should give you a hint for the tone of its songs. Alas, Snail Mail , real name Lindsey Jordan, is back to break our hearts once again, and she’s kicking it all off with the album’s first single and title track “Valentine,” out now with its cinematic, Victorian-themed music video; watch it below.

“I wanted to take as much time as possible with this record to make sure I was happy with every detail before unleashing it unto y’all,” Jordan said in a press statement. “Referring to the process as the deepest level of catharsis and therapy I have ever experienced would be a huge understatement. Valentine is my child!”

Jordan skyrocketed to indie-rock stardom back in 2018 with the release of her intimate and explosive debut album Lush . The record, which she wrote at 17 and released shortly after graduating high school, became an instant cult classic thanks to her honest songwriting and raw and emotional singing voice. The album was also released during an indie-rock renaissance of sorts, led by a wave of new women singer-songwriters including Soccer Mommy , Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and more.

Valentine is jointly-produced by Jordan and musician Brad Cook, who’s worked with Bon Iver and Waxahatchee. The album spans 10 songs, and was written by Jordan alone between 2019 and 2020, and was largely recorded in Durham, North Carolina at the beginning of 2021. See the album’s full track list below.

Valentine ’s first single is out now

Valentine ’s title track is out now as the world’s first taste of Jordan’s new album. A cresting rock song that explodes with guitars and Jordan’s distinct and shouty rasp on its chorus, “Valentine” is not a romantic proposal, and is instead a seething, heartbroken plea. “So why’d you wanna erase me?/ Darling, valentine/ You’ll always know where to find me/ When you change your mind,” she belts. Lovesickness drenches the song to its very last line: “Blame me if you need to/ But I adore you.”

Jordan also shared its Josh Coll-directed music video, a dramatic, Victorian-themed affair that almost feels like it could’ve been distantly inspired by the 2018 movie The Favourite . In it, Jordan is a chamber attendant to a very important woman, whom she’s clearly having some sort of illicit affair with. Later, at a raucous dinner party, she sees her secret lover kissing a man and, well, a very bloody and Tarantino-esque ending ensues. Watch below.

How to buy tickets to the Valentine Tour

Snail Mail has postponed and rescheduled her Valentine world tour due to vocal surgery, the musician announced on November 23, just days before the tour was scheduled to kick off in Richmond, Virginia.

Writing in a statement to fans, Jordan revealed that her doctor discovered “massive polyps” in her vocal chords that will “need to be operated on to prevent permanent damage to my voice.” All 2021 U.S. tour dates as well as early 2022 U.K. tour dates have been rescheduled for later in the year. However, the second 2022 U.S. leg of her tour, kicking off on April 5, 2022 in Philadelphia, will remain unchanged.

With the rescheduling, opening acts Spencer. and Hotline TNT will no longer be joining Jordan on the tour. See below for Jordan’s full statement, and for the amended tour schedule. Per a press release, all purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates.

Lindsey here - unfortunately, with terrible news this time. I’ve been struggling with my vocal health more and more each year. I lose my voice after a couple days of singing. I went to see an ENT last week and they found massive polyps in my vocal cords (surprisingly from vocal trauma due to talking!! shocker lol) that need to be operated on to prevent permanent damage to my voice. The recovery time is three months/speech therapy and in an effort to make sure the rest of the tour can happen, I will be postponing our first US tour which was supposed to begin this week as well as our initial UK/Euro tour :(. I’m devastated to be pushing off shows even longer. My team is working overtime to reschedule everything that we're postponing--we will have everything rescheduled imminently. Thank you so much for all the support you've given the new record so far.

Lindsay Jordan knows her way around a guitar.

On her second album as Snail Mail , last year’s breakthrough “Valentine,” the 22-year-old singer-songwriter delivered sharp hooks and killer riffs packaged in succinct songs of queer heartbreak. The album represented a huge sonic leap for the artist after her relatively restrained 2018 breakout record “Lush,” and during a concert Wednesday at the Hollywood Palladium , she demonstrated her mastery over her instrument of choice.

Jordan entered the stage to a prerecorded track of the “Valentine” centerpiece “Forever (Sailing),” then immediately launched into the album’s opening title track, slowly singing the song’s initial muted verses before segueing into the heavy, fast-moving rock chorus. At the song’s conclusion, she immediately launched into the intro of the album’s second track, the scorching break-up song “Ben Franklin,” combining her guitar work with an addictive synth hook.

Throughout the night, Jordan’s songs ranged from clanking numbers with poppy hooks to slower ballads. One of the highlights saw her three-piece band exit the stage so she could deliver a solo performance of the “Valentine” album track “Light Blue.” “Where are my exes at?” Jordan quipped at one point in the evening, before she launched into the poppy “Valentine” single “Madonna.”

Although the majority of the setlist came from “Valentine,” Jordan also dipped back to songs from “Lush” and her 2016 debut EP “Habit.” After tearing through a lengthy guitar solo in “Heat Waves”, she briefly stopped singing to tell the audience to show some life — and by the climax of the song, most of the crowd was on their feet. “That’s more like it!” she enthused.

However, that wasn’t the evening’s only dramatic moment: Towards the end of “Full Control,” Jordan and her band stopped the set when an audience member fainted. But a paramedic was quickly called, and after a few minutes, they finished the song, and quickly dived into “Headlock” from “Valentine.” As the concert neared its end, Jordan told the crowd, “Thanks for keeping each other safe.”

The concert concluded with two encores: the break-up ballad “Mia,” and her most popular single, “Pristine.” Jordan jokingly introduced it by teasing it as something she’s never performed live. “We figured we’d save it for L.A., this is brand new content,” she told the audience, before eliciting cheers from the crowd who recognized the song’s opening riff. The song quickly turned into a full-throttle sing along, with many people chanting the song’s chorus — “I won’t love anyone else/I’ll never love anyone else” — along with her.

Snail Mail — the solo project of Lindsey Jordan — will be placing her upcoming 2021-2022 tour in support of her recently released album, Valentine , on hold. On Monday (Nov. 22), the singer took to Instagram to share that she will be pushing back the tour dates due to issues with her vocal health. The tour was initially set to begin on Nov. 27 with a stop in Richmond, Va. at The National.

Jordan announced the tour back in September while unveiling Valentine and the album’s title track, which ranked at No. 27 on Adult Alternative Airplay on Nov. 17. The 2021 North American and early 2022 European dates of the tour has yet to be rescheduled, though the 2022 North American dates of the tour still stand and will commence on April 5 in Philadelphia.

Snail Mail Reschedules Tour Dates to Undergo Vocal Cord Surgery

Snail Mail’ s Lindsey Jordan has announced that an ongoing struggle with her vocal health has reached a breaking point that must be rectified with vocal cord surgery in order to prevent permanent damage.

Snail Mail was set to kick off a North American tour later this week with a show at Richmond, Virginia’s the National. The remaining 2021 dates, branching into early 2022, have been rescheduled to late next summer. The U.S. leg of the tour will instead begin in Philadelphia on April 5 after the singer has properly recovered.

The 2022 European tour dates originally scheduled for February and March of next year are currently in the process of being rescheduled with new dates to come soon.

In a statement, Jordan shared: “I’ve been struggling with my vocal health more and more each year. I lose my voice after a couple of days of singing. I went to see an ENT last week and they found massive polyps in my vocal cords (surprisingly from vocal trauma due to talking!! shocker lol) that need to be operated on to prevent permanent damage to my voice. The recovery time is three months/speech therapy and in an effort to make sure the rest of the tour can happen.”

The tour was scheduled as Snail Mail’s first time back on the road following shows in support of her groundbreaking 2018 debut album Lush , this time offering up performances of songs from her recently released follow-up Valentine .

“At some point, I realized that my IRL person was suffering because of having to be an internet person. I just wanted to work on my IRL person,” Jordan told Rolling Stone . “I don’t necessarily think it’s good for my mental health. I would rather just do my thing — make the music, put it out there, and play the shows.”

Snail Mail details her recovery from vocal cord surgery: “You don’t really think about how much you need your voice”

Lindsey Jordan says “everything is looking good” for her upcoming March tour

Singer-songwriter Snail Mail has opened up about her road to recovery following a vocal cord surgery that forced the delay of tour dates in the US, UK and Europe.

Speaking to Carmel Holt on a recent episode of the Sheroes Mixtape Memoir podcast , the singer – real name Lindsey Jordan – shared that she was “silent for the entire month” following the surgery in December, an experience that she said “was really hard”.

“There were a lot of situations where I found myself just totally helpless. You know, you don’t really think about how much you need your voice,” she said. Jordan explained that on one occasion, she found herself locked out of her apartment and wasn’t able to call her apartment supervisor, and was called “rude” by Uber drivers trying to make conversation.

Now, Jordan is attending “speech therapy weekly and these surgeon follow-ups”, and is in the process of “reteaching” herself to talk, “with speech therapy and discipline and exercise – correct speaking techniques”.

While she hasn’t begun working up to singing just yet, Jordan revealed that she was cleared to sing during her recent second follow-up with her surgeon.

She also added that “everything is looking good and everything will be on time with the tour, which is cool! I’ll be honest, I was not expecting that”.

Snail Mail’s tour is currently set to kick off in the US on March 23 in Boise, Idaho, and will wrap on May 8 in Nashville before she tours the UK and Europe in June and July. More information can be found here .

Her original set of US and UK tour dates were set to begin in November, but the singer called off the tour shortly before it began after having “found massive polyps in my vocal cords that need to be operated on to prevent permanent damage to my voice”.

Last year, Snail Mail released her sophomore album, ‘Valentine’ . In a five-star review ,  NME hailed ‘Valentine’ as being “expertly curated” while noting that every song “feels like a fully-realised gem”. The record landed at Number 24 on NME ‘s 50 Best Albums Of 2021 list.

Yesterday, Snail Mail released a new demo of her ‘Valentine’ title track to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The demo, titled ’Adore You’, takes on a lo-fi feel, compared to the final  anthemic version of the song that was released.
