South Sea Island Day Cruise

Spend the day exploring South Sea Island, an uninhabited oasis just 30 minutes from Denarau. Board a high-speed catamaran and head out to the deep blue waters of the South Pacific. There are awe-inspiring views of Denarau, a man-made island created from reclaimed mangrove swamps, and the extensive sugarcane fields that dot the Viti Levu coastline, the largest of the Fiji islands. At the completion of your catamaran ride, transfer to a small boat that will take you to shore.

What to Bring: Beach towel, reef-friendly sunscreen, and cash in local currency for additional purchases (most vendors will not accept credit cards or foreign currency). Wear your swimsuit under your clothes and fill your water bottle before leaving the ship. Good to Know: There are no lockers on the boat, so please leave any valuables on the cruise ship.

Gorgeous little South Sea Island is one of the treasures of the Mamanuca Islands. Crystal clear waters, coral reefs and thousands of colourful tropical fish surround the tiny island. Peppered with palm trees and surrounded by a coral lagoon, uninhabited South Sea Island is truly one of Fiji's gems.

A day trip to South Sea Island is an easy 30 minute ferry ride from Denarau Marina with South Sea Cruises. The close location to Denarau means that you can make the most of the day lazing on the beach, snorkelling, diving and enjoying the abundant of activities on offer.

South Sea Cruises operates with their modern fleet of stable cruising catamarans that glide through the water to take you to your island resort or give you the day trip of a lifetime. Sit back and relax in the air-conditioned cabin or go to the upper deck to enjoy the breeze and soak up the sun.

Resort Connections

South Sea Cruises offer seamless, fast transfers to Mamanuca Island resorts for travellers staying on these islands. They transport visitors from Nadi Airport as well as selected Nadi and Denarau hotels to Denarau Marina where guests board their fast ferries for the voyage to their destinations. Their modern fleet is comprised of (among others) the following vessels; Ocean Dreaming, Cheetah and Tiger IV & V. These modern catamarans have multiple lounges, outer viewing decks and fully licensed bars, meaning you’ll feel on holiday even enroute to your island escape! Resort connections depart Denarau Marina several times a day, every day. 

Cancellation Policy: - Bookings cancelled within 24 hours are charged 100% - Bookings cancelled due to no show are charged 100% - Bookings cancelled prior to 24hrs before departure* or transferred to another South Sea Cruises cruise will not be charged

* Due to time zone differences we strongly reccommend giving notice of cancellation at least 48hrs in advance to avoid the possibility of your request not arriving with ferry staff in time.

South Sea Island is Fiji’s most popular day trip island and is a short high-speed catamaran ride with South Sea Cruises from Port Denarau. Being so close to Denarau means you can make the most of the day lazing on the beach, snorkelling, diving, and enjoying the many activities on offer.

Plenty to do  It may be small in size, but there is plenty to keep you entertained with a semi-submersible submarine for underwater viewing, a saltwater swimming pool, and complimentary use of all non-motorised water sports equipment such as snorkelling gear, stand-up paddle boards, and kayaks.

Food and drinks  Lunchtime is a highlight on the island when everyone gathers around rustic tables at the open-air restaurant to watch Fijian performances and explore craft markets (both daily except Sundays). Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Complimentary local beer, house wine, and soft drinks are also included all day long while on the island.

Additional options  For an additional cost while on the island why not try scuba diving (both Introductory and Certified dives available), or treat yourself to an island massage, and be sure to try one of our handcrafted cocktails at the Tipsy Turtle Bar.

• Return pre-booked coach transfers to/from Port Denarau to/from most Nadi, Denarau, Wailoaloa, (Full and Half Day) Natadola, Sonaisali, Momi Bay, and Coral Coast (Full Day only) hotels/resorts. 
• Return vessel transfers from Port Denarau on our high-speed catamaran
• A delicious BBQ buffet lunch, local beer, house wine, filtered water, and soft drinks are all included while on South Sea Island
• Complimentary Kids Club (for 3-12 year olds)
• Subsea Adventure in our semi-submersible coral viewer (note that in the event this is not available due to maintenance or repairs, no refund will be given)
• Use of non-motorised water sports equipment (snorkelling gear, paddle boards, kayaks)
• Saltwater swimming pool and fantastic swimming/snorkelling in the sea, even at low tide
• Fijian ‘Meke’ performance at lunchtime (daily except Sundays)

What to bring:

• Cash or credit/debit card for optional purchases (premium bar, merchandise, diving, massage, shell market)
• Sunscreen and hat
• Footwear for the beach

Eat & Drink 

Lunchtime is a highlight on the island when everyone gathers around rustic tables at the open-air restaurant to watch Fijian performances and browse the craft markets (daily except Sundays) as well as enjoy a delicious complimentary buffet lunch.

Throughout the day complimentary local beer, house wine, and soft drinks are included while on the island.

The Tipsy Turtle bar also provides a premium beverage with hand-crafted cocktails, RTD’s, and spirits as well as snacks such as pies, chips, and ice cream at an additional cost.

Passengers travel from/to Port Denarau with the following schedule:

**Family Pass = there are two separate rates for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) and a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children)

All pricing is in FJD, includes taxes, and is valid for travel until 31 March 2025. *Children are aged 5 – 15 years inclusive. Infants 4 years and under are free of charge. Bookings paid by credit card or international debit card will incur a 5% non-refundable administration fee.

Payment Policy:

• We accept payment for your service by credit card via PayPal.
• 5% credit card admin fee will apply only on payment since we use PayPal.
• 10% Non-Refundable deposit required to secure your booking and balance payable at your arrival.
• Payment made in your currency converted to Fijian Dollars.

No-shows & Cancellation Policy.

• Bookings cancelled 24 hours before departure will incur a 50% cancellation fee
• Bookings cancelled within 24 hours of departure will incur a 100% cancellation fee.
• Postponements due to flight or marine operator delays can be rebooked for later date.
• Any payment made relating to travel service is non-refundable.

PVV travel, Nadi DownTown Hotel, PVV Transfers , tours and rentals are all certified CFC companies.

Currently, if you wish to travel to Fiji, it is mandatory to use a CFC certified company for transfers and  accommodation during your first 3 days.

During these 3 days, you are permitted to explore  Safe Travel Areas  (STA) and take part in CFC approved tours, excursions and experiences.

You can safely book any of the offers on this website, and be confident that you are booking with a company that has passed the stringent inspections to qualify as a registered CFC provider.

One of the best experiences I've had in a long time. The island was beautiful, super friendly staff always ready to help. Snorkeling and kayak equipment were complimentary. The food was great, and the infinity pool was something I'd never experienced. Highly recommended!

Best day trip in Fiji! Lots of activities, easy access to bus transfers and wonderful staff – very open and accommodating. If you're in Fiji it is a must do trip!

It was an amazing cruise with a delicious lunch and wine. We got to snorkel with colourful fish. We then spent the afternoon island hopping seeing other places we could stay. The Fijian show was excellent. We had a wonderful day.

This was so much fun. Staff were awesome. Island is great with plenty to do. Lots of room to sit around relaxing. Trip was well priced.

Sabre was an absolute dream experience. The boat is amazing and a real asset for Fiji, the crew were accommodating and fun. There was plenty of seating on the ship. I would recommend it to all. Thank you South Sea Cruise, yet another great trip with your company.
