New York City’s historic Beacon Theater, with its stunning interiors and magnificent chandelier, is a long way from the punk clubs where Irish rockers U2 cut their teeth in the late ’70s. But the group’s lead singer, Bono , was able to conjure the band’s early days in vibrant detail with just tables, chairs, monitors displaying his lo-fi artwork and a tasteful instrumental trio during the opening stop of his “ Stories of Surrender ” book tour on Nov. 2.

Bono’s voice was strong and clear while performing the hits, soaring over the tasteful arrangements on anthems such as “Beautiful Day,” “Where the Streets Have No Name” and “Desire.” But his Irish lilt was humble in storytelling, whether recalling a life-saving heart surgery or recounting his weekly conversations with his father, Bob, in their local Irish pub, which continued well into the band’s success. The banter between the duo was revisited several times throughout the performance, which includes charming run-ins with icons like Princess Diana and Luciano Pavarotti. The latter teed up the emotional climax of the show, with Bono delivering a show-stopping rendition of “Torna a Surriento,” the Neapolitan song famously recorded by the legendary tenor.

'Stories of Surrender'. The Book Tour.

'An evening of words, music and some mischief…'. 

Live Nation and Penguin Random House have announced a 14-date city book tour in support of SURRENDER: 40 Songs, One Story , the forthcoming memoir by Bono.

The book tour, titled ' Stories of Surrender ' and produced by Live Nation, is a limited run of theatre dates to mark the release of a memoir in which one of the world's most iconic artists writes for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with. Bono will bring the stories of his life to life — live and in person— to 14 cities across North America and Europe. Kicking off at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Wednesday, November 2 , ' Stories of Surrender ' will make stops in Boston, Toronto, Chicago, Nashville, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Glasgow, Manchester, Berlin, Paris —and Bono's hometown of Dublin — before wrapping on Monday, November 28 in Madrid . " I miss being on stage and the closeness of U2's audience ," said Bono. " In these shows I've got some stories to sing, and some songs to tell… Plus I want to have some fun presenting my ME-moir, SURRENDER, which is really more of a WE-moir if I think of all the people who helped me get from there to here" .

TICKETS: Tickets go on sale starting Friday, October 7 at 10am local time and will be available at: www.ticketmaster.com/bono . 

Each ticket purchased comes with a copy of SURRENDER , released on November 1, and all tickets purchased online will be delivered as secure mobile tickets . There will be a two ticket limit per person.   SURRENDER: 40 Songs, One Story , tells the story of Bono's remarkable life, the challenges he's faced, and the friends and family who have shaped and sustained him. 

The subtitle, '40 Songs, One Story,' refers to the book's 40 chapters, each named after a U2 song. Bono has also created 40 original drawings which will be featured throughout the book. In his unique voice, Bono takes readers from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was fourteen, to U2's unlikely journey to become one of the world's most influential rock bands, to his more than twenty years of activism dedicated to the fight against AIDS and extreme poverty.

Bono Announces ‘Stories of Surrender’ Book Tour

Bono will embark on a book tour this fall in support of his upcoming autobiography, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story .

The book is scheduled for worldwide release on Nov. 1. One day later, the Stories of Surrender tour, billed as "an evening of words, music and some mischief," will launch on Nov. 2 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The U2 singer will then make stops in various U.S. cities before heading overseas for dates in the U.K., Ireland, Germany, France and Spain.

Tickets will be available for purchase beginning Oct. 7. (Every ticket will include a copy of the book.) You can view a complete list of book tour dates below.

"I miss being onstage and the closeness of U2's audience," Bono said in a press release. "In these shows, I've got some stories to sing, and some songs to tell. ...Plus I want to have some fun presenting my ME-moir, Surrender , which is really more of a WE-moir if I think of all the people who helped me get from there to here."

As its title suggests, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story  is divided into 40 chapters, each named after a U2 song and including 40 original drawings done by Bono. "When I started to write this book, I was hoping to draw in detail what I'd previously only sketched in songs," Bono said in an earlier statement. "The people, places and possibilities in my life. Surrender is a word freighted with meaning for me."

Bono to Sing Stories and Tell Songs on Surrender Book Tour

Bono’s going to sing his songs with or without U2 . The rock star is set to promote his upcoming memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story on an intimate tour this November, and he’ll sing a bit, too. “In these shows I’ve got some stories to sing, and some songs to tell,” Bono said in a statement. “Plus I want to have some fun presenting my ME-moir, Surrender , which is really more of a WE-moir if I think of all the people who helped me get from there to here.” Hey, no one ever said the man isn’t earnest. The 14-date tour is Bono’s first outing since U2’s 2019 Joshua Tree tour and comes ahead of his band’s return to the stage in 2023. Surrender , Bono’s first book, is out November 1, the day before the tour kicks off in New York City. We’ll hold out hope that he plays all 40 songs then.

Setlist + Video – Judas Priest + Sabaton Kick Off North American Tour

I n support of their new album Invincible Shield , Judas Priest kicked off their North American tour last night (April 18) in Wallingford, Ct. with special guest Sabaton .

The Metal Gods took the stage at the Oakdale Theatre and ripped through an 18-song set that heavily focused on the new record, British Steel and Screaming for Vengeance . Honoring a sizable chunk of the back catalog, Judas Priest played one song off six other albums and two from 1978’s Killing Machine (known to some as Hell Bent for Leather ).

The set mostly mirrored what most fans in Europe already saw the last few weeks, with some slight deviations. Priest also switched up the set on occasion during that run, so we’ll see if the band does the same as this next leg continues.

Meanwhile, Swedish power metal heroes Sabaton played a 12-song, 50-minute set to get Connecticut’s metal maniacs primed for Priest. They played material from seven albums, including their latest, 2022’s The War to End All Wars.

Shakira did not lie when she announced on social media: “se viene la loba” (the she wolf is coming). The Colombian superstar unveiled the dates to the North American leg of her 2024 Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour on Tuesday (April 16), just on the heels of revealing the big news during her surprise stop at Coachella over the weekend. 

The tour, in support of her new album of the same name, will kick off Nov. 2 in Palm Desert, California, and wrap on Dec. 15 in Detroit, Michigan. During the 14-arena trek, she will also visit Los Angeles, Miami, and New York City, to name a few. (Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on April 22, here ).

Shakira first shared the news on Friday (April 12) at Coachella, where she was a surprise guest during Bizarrap’s debut performance. Right after performing “La Fuerte” and before singing “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” (her two collaborative efforts with the Argentine hitmaker), she said:  “I have to share something today. Biza, I’m going on tour. I’m going on tour, finally…starting here, this November, this year, this city. I can’t wait. Couldn’t ask for more.” 

The tour — which marks her first since her 2018 El Dorado World Tour — is in support of her 12th studio album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts (dated April 6), as well as No. 13 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.

As we patiently wait for the fall to come around, Billboard has curated five things we would like to see on Shakira’s new tour.

The Grand Opening

If “La Loba se viene” is any indication, it only makes sense that Shakira starts off her concerts performing a bilingual version of “Loba” (“She Wolf”). Her 2009 banger, which entered many Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Hot Latin Songs and Tropical Songs, is the ultimate dance track perfect to set the mood for the rest of the night. “She Wolf” also represents what Shakira embodies: a woman with strong family values, resilience and strength. Now, if she can arrive singing the song on top of a large wolf on the stage — that’d be extra epic!  

The 1990s Medley

It’s no surprise that Shakira will perform all of her latest hits live for the first time. We’re expecting to sing and dance to songs such as “Te Felicito,” “Monotonía,” “Copa Vacía,” and “Puntería” — all from her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran album. But we’re also hoping for a ride down memory lane. 

We’re specifically crossing fingers for a throwback medley set — where she will perform some of her melancholy rock tunes from the ‘90s. Our dream version of it would include “Ciega, Sordomuda,” “Ojos Así,” “Estoy Aquí,” “Inevitable,” and “Antologia,” to name a few. 

Surprise Guests

Now, we know Shakira can dominate the stage and sell out arenas on her own, but it would also be nice to see her bring out some surprise guests. Some we would especially like to see her join the stage are Alejandro Sanz, for an epic performance of “La Tortura” and “Te Lo Agradezco Pero No,” Karol G for the ultra-powerful “TQG,” Cardi B for their flirtatious and feel-good “Puntería” — and why not? Beyoncé (“Beautiful Liar”) and/or Rihanna (“Can’t Remember to Forget You”) as well.

Her Talented Offspring

Another sweet moment on the tour would be if Shakira invites her talented sons onstage. The two boys first showed off their singing skills on the heartfelt tune “Acróstico” (third single off Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran ), where they collaborated with their mom. Her older son, Milan, has also been spotted on social media performing with his school band, where he plays the drums. 

The Grand Finale

And, because Shakira made her tour announcement during Bizarrap’s Coachella set, it only makes sense that she invites him on stage (if possible for the entire tour) to close off the show with their 2023 banger “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.” The track peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100 and landed at No. 2 on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts. It also ruled the Hot Latin Songs chart, scoring Shakira her 12th leader on the tally.
