Tata Safari Gets Air Purifier, Wireless Charging And More: Mahindra XUV700’s Effect?

Tata Safari updated

Tata has launched a minor feature upgrade model for its Tata Safari. The mid-spec and top-spec variants will cost about ₹7000-₹12000 more due to the new feature upgrade. We can say that Tata Motors is trying to equip its cars well to rival well with the Mahindra XUV700 as we’ll be seeing its complete price reveal soon.

New Tata Safari Pricing

Now, the Tata Safari XT and XT+ variants will cost about ₹7,000 higher due to the feature upgrade. On the other hand, other higher models i.e. XZ, XZA, XZ+, and XZA+ will see a ₹12,000/- hike in price. So, now standard Tata Safari models will cost ₹14.99-₹22.14 Lakhs. The recently launched Gold Edition is priced at ₹21.90 Lakhs – ₹23.18 Lakhs.

What are the new updates in Tata Safari?

A feature Safari now comes equipped with is not provided by many automakers is an air purifier inside the car which is so customer-centric. The XZ, XZA, and other higher-spec models will feature android and apple wireless connectivity. These two are the only revisions made to the Safari models.

Tata Safari XT is equipped with:

  • Power foldable wing mirrors
  • An automatic AC
  • Tyre pressure monitor
  • Cruise control
  • Connected car tech
  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Keyless entry and start
  • Auto headlamps
  • A rear camera

Above that, XT+ and XTA+ variants come with a stunning panoramic sunroof.

Talking about the XZ and XZA variants, they come with:

  • Leatherette seat upholstery
  • Hill descent control
  • JBL audio system
  • 8.8-inch touchscreen
  • 7.0-inch partly digital instrument cluster
  • Terrain response modes
  • Dimming rearview mirror
  • Powered driver seat
  • Xenon projector headlamp

Now get's wireless charging

Buyers wanting the panoramic sunroof can go for the higher variants XZ+ and XZA+ that offer an additional choice for choosing between the 6-seater or 7-seater model.

Tata Safari will have wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay in some variants

On the other hand, the recently revealed Safari Gold Edition features seat ventilation for first-row and second-row passengers, diamond-quilted genuine leather seats, and gold-colored accents inside and outside. The features such as wireless charger, wireless android, and apple connectivity, and air purifier all debuted with Gold Edition only. Then the automaker decided to provide them with the standard models as well.

Any Mechanical Change?

Only the equipment list has been updated a bit but no performance changes are announced as of now. For reference, Tata Safari is equipped with a 2.0-liter diesel engine capable of producing 170hp of power and 350Nm of torque. The buyers can choose between a 6-speed AMT or 6-speed manual transmission in this front-wheel-driven car.

Competition in-check: Tata Safari

Tata Safari is competing with its segment’s top cars like MG Hector Plus and Hyundai Alcazar. It will soon lock horns with the Mahindra XUV700 7-seater variant when it will start running on the roads.

The new Tata Safari looks like it has disrupted the segment. At least for the time being. Dealerships are recording healthy footfalls and at the same time, online interest too seems to be high. Tata Motors wants to cash in on this boom and has revealed accessory packages for the Safari. There are four in all and while the prices haven’t been specified, given the base accessory package is feature-rich, expect around Rs 40,000 more depending on the different feature set. The four packages include Accomplished, Accomplished Pro, Adventure and Adventure Pro. If you are someone looking for more creature comforts from your Safari, then the Accomplished and Pro versions make more sense. More of an outdoorsy person, then skip everything and head over to the relevantly-named packages. These are available at all Tata dealerships and do not void the warranty.

In the Accomplished package, one gets dummy exhaust chrome, mudflaps, tailgate chrome, rear bumper chrome, bonnet mascot, scuff plates, puddle lamps, air purifier, carpets, floor mats with Tata logo, sun shades and neck cushions with memory foam. Over this, the Pro version brings underbody lighting, wireless charger, front parking sensors, side steps and rear seat entertainment.

On the Adventure package, one gets bonnet scoop, front parking sensors, side steps, dashcam, backseat organiser, 3D moulded mats, and scuff plates. Add the Pro version and aside from all that you get on the Adventure package, Tata Motors will throw in a cycle carrier , luggage bags, jerry cans, wheel steps and a roof rack that can carry up to 75kg load.

Apart from these packages, customers can also buy individual accessory items as ala carte. From what features are mentioned above, customers can also get their hands on a tyre pressure monitoring system in the ala carte bin. There are no performance upgrades and the Safari will continue to be offered with a 170hp/350Nm, 2.0-litre diesel engine, with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

Tata Safari Gold edition launched at Rs 21.89 lakh

The Tata Safari has just received a new addition to its range in the form of the Gold edition. The Safari Gold edition is priced at Rs 21.89 lakh for the manual version and Rs 23.18 lakh for the automatic version (ex-showroom, India). It will make its debut at the VIVO IPL 2021 being held in Dubai.

2021 Tata Safari Gold edition: what’s new?

Most notably, the Safari Gold edition has received a variety of cosmetic changes on the exterior and interior. For starters, it is available in two colour schemes – ‘White Gold’ which pairs the Frost White body colour with a contrast black roof, and ‘Black Gold’ which uses black as a base with a hint of gold that results in a very dark coffee brown colour. Both these versions get subtle gold accents on the grille, headlight surrounds, door handles, roof rails and badging. Completing the exterior looks are the 18-inch Charcoal black alloy wheels, similar to the ones seen on the Safari Adventure Persona.

On the inside, while both versions carry the oyster white colour scheme as on the standard Safari, the Gold Edition takes things a step further. The ‘Safari White Gold’ gets a unique white and gold marble finish to the dashboard that is accompanied by a gold insert below it which runs the width of the cabin. The ‘Safari Black Gold’ on the other hand sports a black and gold marble finish on the dashboard, though, here the full-width lower insert is gloss black instead of gold. Besides this, both versions also get gold accents on the badges, AC vents, instrument cluster and door handles.

Tata motors has also used this opportunity to add some new features to the Safari over and above what is available on the current top-spec XZA+ variant. These new features include diamond quilted-genuine leather seats with ventilation on both first and second rows, wireless charger, air purifier, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The latter three features will also be offered on the Safari Adventure edition .

Tata will also be hosting a ‘Safari Gold Hit Challenge’ at the 2021 IPL, where every time a batsman hits a six and the ball lands on either the car, or the display podium or the Safari Gold commercial board, the carmaker will contribute an amount of Rs 2 lakh to The Akshaya Patra Foundation for COVID-19 relief.

2021 Tata Safari Gold edition: engine

Powering the new Safari Gold edition will be the same 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, producing 170hp and 350Nm, as in the standard Safari. The engine is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox option.

2021 Tata Safari Gold edition: competition check

Just like the standard Safari, the Gold edition model will compete with the likes of the  MG Hector Plus and the new Mahindra XUV700 .
