MV Viscount was built in 1908, with a capacity for 210 people, currently it is the oldest passenger boat still in service among the Dunkirk Ships, rebuilt in 1964 and refitted for events in 2019.

We are licensed to operate between Kew and Woolwich. So wherever you’re based, or wherever you want to get the party started, we’ll meet you there.

On request, we can also go east as far as Gravesend. Please contact us for more information.

We are happy to do a return journey, call at more than one pier to pick up guests, or take your entire party one way. So if, for example, you would like to take your group from Chelsea to an event at the 02, without getting stuck in traffic, hire one of our boats and start the party early!

More about the Golden Star Party Boat

Welcome aboard the Golden Star, one of London's most popular party boats, and ideal for family functions and smaller office or student parties of up to 120. Your guests will enjoy all the comforts of a land based venue, with the added bonus of Golden Star's full height windows allowing excellent sights of London's iconic landmarks.

Golden Star was completely refitted internally in 2018 with luxury carpet and a dance floor, sumptuous new seating for guests, and a bespoke stainless-steel bar serving drinks at pub prices.   The perimeter of the saloon is fitted with fixed bench seating along each side, with the option of adding tables and chairs to allow for optimum flexibility for your event.  If, however, you would prefer to make use of the full floor space for a live band, casino tables or other live entertainment this can be easily accommodated whilst still allowing lots of room to socialise.  You can also relax at the unique floating bar-top built around the front of the vessel, which offers panoramic views of London through the full-length windows.

At the rear of the vessel is a generously sized sun-deck where you can enjoy a glass of Pimms or simply soak up the sunshine. The interiors of all our party boats are non-smoking, however smoking is permitted on the sun-deck of the Golden Star.

M.V. Golden Star is ideal for a wide variety of boat parties of between 40 and 120 passengers, although we are sometimes able to accommodate functions with less than 40 passengers - please follow  this link  for more information on passenger numbers.

We would advise early booking to avoid disappointment, and would also recommend that you arrange to come down to view the Golden Star as boats on the Thames vary greatly in quality, presentation and layout. DAYTIME HIRE – up to 5pm (minimum of 4 hours)

Evening hire – 5pm - 12am (minimum of 4 hours).

*please note that at Friday & Saturday evening hire cannot start earlier than 7pm and all events must finish by 10pm on Sunday

NIGHTTIME HIRE – Midnight - 1am (min 4 hour incl evening hire)

You can select “Vegetarian” when making your booking. Unfortunately we are unable to cater for any other special dietary requirements on this cruise. We do not guarantee that products are free from nuts or traces of nuts. The BBQ will be served Buffet style on quality paper plates and plastic cutlery, where required.

The Golden Jubilee Boat is split over 2 levels; the lower deck has comfortable fixed seating around the perimeter of the boat. The fully stocked bar provides the lower deck with an elegant centre piece allowing your guests to enjoy a pint of beer, glass of wine or soft drink in style. On the upper deck you will find a second bar, a large solid wood dance floor and enclosed DJ booth. The double doors at the back of the boat lead out onto the large sun deck, which can hold up to 150 people with ease.

The cruise runs to a very strict timetable and unfortunately we cannot wait for any late arrivals. It is your responsibility to arrive at the pier in plenty of time for your cruise to avoid any disappointment. Please be advised that once the boat departs, it cannot return to the pier to collect passengers, and refunds will not be offered in such circumstances.

• Cancellation Policy We do not accept any cancellations with our Sunset Summer Boat Party, if tickets are cancelled then 100% of the ticket price is payable by the client. 100% charge will apply to all no-shows. Refunds or change of dates will not be offered in such circumstances. We reserve the right to substitute another Boat and, if necessary, for reasons beyond our reasonable control, to cancel or amend the booking in any way, but we will not in such circumstances be liable for any loss, damages or other expenses whatsoever incurred by you due to such substitution, or cancellation or amendment.
• Minimum Numbers We do require minimum numbers for the cruise to run. If minimum numbers are not met, the date may be cancelled and you will receive a full refund.
• Age Policy Strictly 21yrs and over.
• Accessibility We are unable to accommodate wheelchair users on this cruise.
• Smoking Smoking is permitted on designated outside areas only.
• Inclement Weather The cruise will operate regardless of the weather unless in conditions of poor visibility. The Captain will make the decision on the day if the cruise will not operate. You will be informed of your options on the day if this affects you. Our vessels are closed in so you will not be affected by wind, snow or rain.
• How to Book To book this cruise please either click the “BUY NOW” button on the package and follow the online booking process or call our reservations team on 0203 551 3942 (open Monday – Friday 09.00 – 17.30). Full payment is required at the time of booking. Once you have completed the booking process you will receive an automated booking summary via email. A boarding confirmation will follow within 48 hours (Monday – Friday) or the next working day if made over the weekend and bank holidays. Your booking is not confirmed until you receive your boarding confirmation. Your boarding confirmation will state the boat name, schedule and pier location. Please check your boarding confirmation carefully and inform us immediately if anything is incorrect. You will need to show your boarding confirmation on arrival at the boat.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
