My wife and I feel very fortunate to have booked 2 tours with “Portuguese For A Day”. We enjoyed our first trip with co-owner Andre and the Sintra + trip had the same high quality level. We started the day with an 8:10 AM pick-up. This early starting time got us to the Pena Palace just before it opened. The Palace was empty and we had no problem taking photos with crowds of tourists around. By the time we were leaving, lines were long and getting longer. It was such a pleasure to have the access to this amazing place that we did. The tour was filled with interesting information, useful observations and a genuine friendliness among the 5 other people. I think going on this road trip was the best thing during my 3 day trip to Lisbon. Sintra is a hidden treasure that is best to do with a company as it can be complicated to go on your own. We had fun with Andre and communicating about culture, tourism, art, and most importantly our love to travel. Sintra is very colorful and has so many things to do. Best of Lisbon Tour (with Sintra, Évora and Cascais) - 5 Days in Portugal

Brilliant tour guide Pedro was fantastic! His knowledge and historical information was outstanding. Best guide ever - he made our trip exceptional.. Lisbon and surrounding areas stunning , would highly recommend. Hotel was superb and perfect location too.

Overall, I got to see a lot of the surrounding areas of Lisbon. However, this is not a tour, this is a package, and should be advertised as such. The organisation and communication with Omega was terrible. I repeatedly asked for the location of my accommodation (which was actually lucky!) but was still told the wrong place and had to make an international call (which cost me additional money) after being dropped at the wrong hotel. I had also asked about being booked in for an extra night and being advised about the cost, told them I would book my own accommodation, only to find on my arrival that it was booked and paid for already, meaning I had double booked unnecessary accommodation elsewhere. I was also not advised about morning pickups until I specifically asked. The actual day trips were well organized although the quality of the guides varied. The one day we had an English only guide she seemed disinterested and it was clear to me that she was uncomfortable speaking in English. The days where the information was being translated into multiple languages it felt like English was being given the least amount of information. I would not recommend that someone does this package again, particularly as you can book each day trip separately and the overall organization was terrible.

Highlights of Portugal

The accommodations were comfortable , except for the 1st hotel where the reception was totally unaware of our reservation.& didn’t know G Adventure ... had to have G Adventure rep call him & enlighten him. This experience is bad! However, our Guide , Marko was good . Only issue I have was that I was not aware that we had a lot of climbing Hills & multiple steps . For a heavy 76 yr man .. this was very, very Strenuous. The places we visited were very enjoyable & there were many activities we did. Tye best part of the visit was the Food was delicious & very reasonably priced.

It was a enjoyable group of people. The guide, Cristina, was great. She is very well organized, very knowledgeable on history and geography, and very pleasant. The bus driver, Fabio, was pleasant and did a fine job.

This tour was so much more than I expected. The hotels were great especially the Villa Gale in Lagos. We had busy days and saw so much. There were only a few of us on my tour so Fernando, our driver, and Miguel, our guide, were flexible about doing independent things plus the regular tour. They were always willing to help and very sociable. I found Portugal to be a hidden gem and would love to return to spend more time in some areas.

Discovery of Portugal - 7 Days

Our tour was actually multiple days of arranged tours throughout both cities of Porto and Lisbon. Each day was with a different guide provided by a local company (Living Tours in Porto/Grey Line in Lisbon). Our tours were anywhere from 2 (only the two of us booked that day) to 14 people with different guides each day. Usually were were picked up at our hotel or the site was a close walk away. In Porto, our hotel was located outside of the city center and while they're planning a public subway line in the future mass transit was a little more difficult to navigate. The first day was little confusing, as we were told we'd have a tour, followed by a "tasty lunch", then a boat ride. We were picked up and given a city tour that ended with a tasting of port, then provided with a voucher for a boat ride. There was no transport back to hotel or lunch--which wasn't clear in the outlined itinerary. On the other hand, we did have a delicious lunch the next day on our Duoro River day--one of the highlights of our trip. All transfers went smoothly and the tours in Lisbon and Sintra were really fun. Our hotel in Lisbon was centrally located and we could walk or use mass transit. It was really nice to just walk around the city during the extra days. I would suggest a more centrally located hotel in Porto and perhaps clarifying the wording on the first day so people know what to expect. Otherwise it was a lovely trip.

The tour director and driver were excellent but the program could have been better managed. The program priority was on optional trips and included items in the itinerary were brushed over. The two major cities , Lisbon and Porto portion were not done justice to. Just an orientation in the bus did not do justice to the town's. Instead of the winnery tour a historical places tour would have been better. Lisbon also, except for half a monastery ( without the chapel) what did we see? We started our vacation in Lisbon, with 4 days of guided tours with Pedro. He was wonderful - always on time, so courteous, and a wealth of information. It would be hard to find someone with more knowledge of the history of his country. He shared so much detail about each of the sites we visited, and was able to answer any questions. If you get a chance to book a tour with Pedro, do it. You won’t be disappointed!

Lisbon is surrounded by beautiful villages, many of which are located in the Sintra region.

This tour takes you to the colorful Pena Palace in Sintra, before continuing to Quinta da Regaleira where you can explore the beautiful gardens and magical monuments.

At Cabo da Roca, you will be able to gaze out to the Atlantic Ocean at the Westernmost Point of Mainland Europe.
