The place has a large variety of products. It's the perfect spot to stop by with the family to get snacks, go to the restroom or buy a souvenir for the family. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and welcoming. They also have mexican chips!! If you love to go th

The employees don't wear masks, and don't require customers to wear them either. Also, the bathrooms are not that clean.

Employees are NOT required to wear masks here. I saw three employees and none were wearing any kind of face mask. And on my way out noticed that are no signs that state masks are required. This is not the first time I have seen this here, but thought it was a fluke. Will not come back.

Decent truck stop with Pizza Hut and all snacks you would find in a good truck stop. Bathrooms were large and finished out nicely. Needed a place to take a bus load of cheerleaders for a bathroom break and snack and no one was disappointed.

This gas station was super friendly with helpful staff. They didn't even require you to wear masks or make you feel guilty if you chose to wear one. The showers are very nice and clean.

Tried out the 24 diner, absolutely delicious food, all the way down to the french fries and coleslaw sides. My husband was very pleased with his food too and and that's not easy to do 😁. Good prices ,good service, food was fresh cooked and came out quickly. Good serving sizes and a fantastic selection too, we will definitely be going back there.We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience at this new restaurant

THE BELLS OF RE-FURY-O!

Refugio, once the site of a Karankawa campground, served as the relocation spot for Señora del Refugio Mission in 1795. Why move a mission to the campground? To colonize the camping Karankawas. Apparently since the subjects weren't coming to the Mission on their own, South Texas colonizer José de Escandón decided to bring the Mission to the subjects. It was, after all, the Spanish colonial era and in order to convert the locals they had to show up first. However, the Mission's friars found the Karankawas just as uncooperative in the new digs as elsewhere. The Karankawas, never folks who liked being told what to do with their time, managed to finally close the place down for good with the help of raiding Comanches. The Mission's stone and adobe compound suffered damage during the ensuing wars for the state's independence and, at some point, collapsed in total ruin and its bells were hauled away as salvage. Folklore tells us that on the way to the scrap yard aboard a horse or mule-drawn cart, two of the four bells broke. Then, while attempting to cross the San Antonio River, the driver lodged the cart in the sand. Unable to free the cart, the driver gave up, abandoning the cart along with the heavy bronze bells. All were lost in subsequent flooding with one exception. A single bell was discovered along the river bottom and rescued. The surviving bell served in several chapels before arriving as a donation to the Refugio County Museum. Ring it loud! The prodigal bell comes home at last!

Refugio is my home town; and I was there to attend a multi-class high school reunion. I was saddened to see how Hurricane Harvey changed Refugio for the worst 2 years ago. Do not expect convenience shopping. It's primarily a gas stop for truckers.
