These Private Travel Clubs Are Exclusive — and Affordable

If unrivaled access and seamless planning sound like your style, perhaps it’s time to sign up for a private travel group.

travel clubs

Andria Gutierrez is a marketing executive in Lake Tahoe, California, who loves to travel — but doesn't love the time suck of researching vacations. "When I was younger, I planned all my own trips," she says. "But now that I own a business, I just don't have the spare hours anymore."

That's why she recently joined Allcall , which offers personalized itineraries and exclusive deals to members. She's already taken three Allcall trips, including a multi-state ski trip and a vacation in Baja California, Mexico. "The team is incredibly helpful and responsive," Gutierrez says. "They make the planning process so efficient."

While some established outfits like Exclusive Resorts and Wheels Up have catered to the ultra-wealthy for years, a number of new clubs are opening their doors. One reason is, of course, a new obsession with safety.

"Health has become the paramount concern of our members," says Melissa Biggs Bradley, founder of Indagare , which plans and books trips for its members. "We have a ton of information on COVID protocols, and the team takes care of understanding those, even as they change all the time."

There are other factors at play. "I'd traveled independently for decades," says Suzy Kellems Dominik, an artist from New York City. But hearing about an opportunity to visit Modena, Italy, with acclaimed chef Massimo Bottura of Osteria Francescana was enough to convince her to join Prior , a company that started in 2019.

"What's so interesting is that they have this access," Kellems Dominik says. "It's intellectual and emotional travel — the imagination is just endless — and they curated a group of very interesting people who were all like-minded around food."

That ability to open doors is also drawing travelers who don't normally think of themselves as joiners. Around half of all millennials are now considering signing up for some form of travel club, according to one industry survey, outpacing the interest from Gen Xers and baby boomers. Even Exclusive Resorts, which charges an extra hefty fee per day for trips on top of the cost of membership, has seen a surge of interest from young families. In 2020, the company notched its best December in nine years, despite the pandemic.

So which of these clubs is right for you? It all depends on what you're looking for — and how much you're ready to invest.

For Upscale Private Stays

Exclusive Resorts has a portfolio of over 400 vacation homes, plus members-only cruises and expeditions. Inspirato has the keys to villas in over 180 locations; members can also jump aboard cruises arranged by the company. A more affordable choice is Koala , which allows travelers to book one-off stays in timeshares all over the globe.

For a Like-Minded Community

El Camino began as a small-group-trip operator focused on helping women to travel to new places, but has since unveiled El Camino Travel Clubhouse, a platform that allows members to participate in virtual events and chats about upcoming trips. Manifest , which debuted in August 2020, has chapters in cities across the United States. "We create a social aspect, with people getting to know each other outside of just traveling together," founder Jeff Potter says.

For Feel-good Trips

The upstart wellness website and app MyLifeWell went live in 2020 with virtual fitness classes and a selection of workout gear. Now it connects subscribers with travel advisors who specialize in booking wellness retreats at Canyon Ranch properties, among others.

For the Commitment-phobic

The high cost of clubs has historically been a barrier to signing up. But in the spring of 2020, Prior lowered its price tag in an effort to draw together a more diverse group of adventurers. "I don't want a club in the sense of shutting people out," founder David Prior says. Travel + Leisure Co. launched its own affordable subscription club, promising preferential rates and insider experiences around the world.

A version of this story first appeared in the June 2020 issue of Travel + Leisure under the headline Join the Club.

The Salon at PS

We live in a subscription-obsessed world and there’s a subscription for everything you can imagine, from razors to clothing and even hot sauces. Travel memberships are on the rise, providing new ways to ease some of the stress that comes with traveling these days and help make the journey more seamless.

Whether you’re willing to pay a premium for exclusive travel experiences that provide a little more privacy or you're more budget-conscious and want to find the best travel deals, there’s a membership for every type of traveler. Here are 10 travel memberships that are worth considering.

Wheels Up King Air 350i on runway

Wheels Up offers private jet charter memberships so travelers can access a fleet of aircrafts, including a King Air 350i, an 8-passenger Citation Excel/XLS, and one of the fastest aircrafts, the Citation X. Wheels Up uses a dynamic pricing model offering competitive rates, so members can book flights on-demand with the flexibility to pay as they go.

Additional m embership benefits include invites to signature events, President’s Circle status with Hertz, a complimentary trial of Inspirato Club subscription for 12 months (Core members only), certain perks at select Waldorf Astoria hotels across North America, a partnership with Delta SkyMiles, dedicated partnership rates with Porsche and more.

The Connect membership requires a one-time initiation fee of $2,995 and annual dues of $2,495 which begin on year two. The Core membership has an initiation fee of $17,500 and annual dues of $8,500 which begin on year two. The Business membership requires an initiation fee of $29,500 and $14,500 for subsequent years and includes up to six lead passengers.

A private suite at PS at LAX

Getting through airport security lines can be a drag, especially during holiday weekends and a pandemic that has increased the demand for more seclusion when traveling. PS (formerly known as Private Suite) is designed for first and business class travelers who are seeking privacy and convenience, allowing them to bypass LAX altogether.

Travelers check into a private terminal where they can relax in a fully-stocked luxury private suite that includes complimentary in-suite meals catered by h.wood Group , as well as additional services upon request such as in-suite massages, manicures and detailing services for personal cars. PS also provides a designated on-site TSA and Customs agent for expedited screening.

Upon boarding, travelers are transported across the tarmac directly to their aircraft in a BMW 7 Series sedan. Earlier this year, the Salon at PS launched, which features a new full-service lounge at the terminal for travelers who want the same benefits of PS but seek a more social experience.

Membership cost: Annual membership costs $4,500, which gives members access to a preferred rate of $3,250 for a one-way Suite experience for up to four travelers. The Salon is available to members and non-members for $695 per use per person.

With the Inspirato Pass, you automatically get the benefits of Inspirato Club plus nightly rates are already factored into the price of membership, so you can book as many vacations as possible in one month with one active reservation at a time. There is also no long-term commitment, so you can cancel the membership at any time.

Membership cost: Inspirato Club membership is $600/month plus a $600 enrollment fee and you pay nightly rates as you go. Inspirato Pass is a flat rate of $2,500/month which includes all hotel stays.

Priority Pass

The Club MCO Lounge at Orlando International Airport, accessible via Priority Pass

Airport terminals may have come a long way in the last decade, but killing time for a three-hour layover in a crowded airport isn’t exactly on anyone’s list of things to do, especially on vacation. Trade the busy terminals for private lounge access with Priority Pass and enjoy guaranteed Wi-Fi and snacks.

Members of Priority Pass receive access to over 1,300 airport lounges globally, including several airline lounges such as Virgin Atlantic, Air France and Turkish Airlines. Several credit cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, American Express Platinum and Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express offer free Priority Pass memberships as part of their member benefits.

Membership cost: Choose from three membership tiers which start at $99/year for the Standard membership plus $32 per visit and go up to $429/year for the Prestige membership which includes unlimited lounge visits.

CLEAR touchless identification

TSA Pre-Check and Global Entry are services that allow travelers to expedite the security screening process upon departure and arrival. With CLEAR Plus, enrolled members get escorted to the front of the security line once they’ve been verified using facial recognition or fingerprint scans, so they no longer have to verify identification at security. However, for expedited clearance through security screenings, TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry are still required.

CLEAR uses biometric identifiers to create a unique ID assigned to each member that is used for verification at stations across airports, stadiums and other major venues nationwide.

Membership cost: A CLEAR Plus membership is $179 per year. American Express Platinum Card Members receive a $179 statement credit and United MileagePlus members receive a discounted membership rate.

Vacation Clubs

Vacation clubs were created originally for members who love to vacation and travel without many of the restrictions of the traditional timeshare community.  Vacation membership clubs or travel membership clubs gives access to a variety of benefits for resorts and vacation properties at discounted rates to it’s travelers or it’s members.  To get access to vacation clubs, you usually have to pay an upfront initial membership fee and you have a very small annual fee to maintain access to all the travel membership club benefits.  What vacation clubs realized unlike “Timeshares”, is that vacationers love freedom and flexibility along with a numerous other benefits.  As a travel club member, these vacation clubs offered not only access to beautiful resorts and 5 Star hotels, without maintenance fees, but they offered discounts on Airline Flights, Cruises, Car Rentals and so much more depending the the vacation club and the level of your membership. But I believe the most important aspect that these vacation membership clubs offered was the ability to allow family and friends to have basically full access to all the privileges that the original member has or very close to it without any restrictions or blackout dates.  So this way some family and friends could go in together on the membership fees or with all the travel options, it makes it a no brainer to join if you take at least one vacation per year.

Travel vacation clubs are membership programs designed to enhance the travel experiences of their members. These clubs work by providing exclusive access to a wide range of travel opportunities, accommodations, and services. Travel membership sites serve as platforms where individuals can join these clubs and gain access to their benefits. By becoming vacation club members, individuals can enjoy the perks of ownership without the hassles and commitments associated with owning a property outright. Vacation club membership offers a convenient and flexible way to plan and enjoy vacations, providing members with the opportunity to explore various destinations and stay in luxury accommodations at their preferred travel dates. Whether it’s a beachfront resort, a mountain retreat, or a city getaway, travel vacation clubs offer a world of possibilities for their members to indulge in unforgettable experiences.

Experience the pinnacle of luxury travel with TRVL Club in the stunning Caicos Islands. This exclusive travel club offers discerning travelers access to unparalleled opulence amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Caicos Islands. Indulge in lavish accommodations, pristine beaches, and world-class amenities. TRVL Club curates bespoke experiences, ensuring every moment is steeped in luxury and sophistication. Whether it’s unwinding in lavish resorts or exploring the island’s natural wonders, the Caicos Islands become a haven for those seeking the epitome of luxury travel. TRVL Club unveils a world of exclusivity, offering a transcendent experience in the exquisite Caicos Islands.

What Do Vacation Clubs or Travel Clubs Cost?

Most of us already know that buying a vacation home can be very expensive, however according the the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), the average cost of a timeshare for the year 2022 is approximately $22,000.  With that in mind travel clubs can cost you anywhere from $2,500 to over $20,000 annually.

What are the different Vacation Clubs that offer travel memberships?  The most advance exclusive vacation club on the market is the Occasions Travel Club.  It offers all the contemporary benefits that travelers and vacationers love with the top priority being flexibility.  At the Occasions Travel Club they realize that people love the freedom to travel when they want to and with whom they want to.  With Occasions Vacation Club you can share all or some of your benefits with family and friends and be rewarded for it. Not only will you save up to 70% on hotel and resort bookings, but you get access to travel membership benefits for Airlines, Cruises, Car Rentals, Condos, All-Inclusive  and so much more for your money.  On top of that you’re going to save time and money over the traditional vacation clubs such as Club Wyndham, Disney Vacation Club, Hilton Grand Vacation Club and many others.  Why pay over $20,000 to start with and get restrictions, when you can get so much more for about 90% less.

Are you tired of the same old vacation routines? Do you dream of exploring new destinations and enjoying luxurious experiences without breaking the bank? Look no further than the Occasions vacation clubs. By joining a vacation club membership, you gain access to exclusive perks, incredible travel opportunities, and a world of unforgettable adventures. In this article, we will delve into the concept of vacation clubs, the advantages of membership, and why it’s a must-have for any avid traveler.

What is a Vacation Club Membership?

A vacation club membership is a unique program that offers individuals the opportunity to enjoy exceptional travel experiences at a fraction of the cost. Unlike traditional timeshare models, vacation clubs provide flexibility, allowing members to choose from a wide range of travel options, destinations, and accommodation types. By paying an annual membership fee, individuals gain access to a vast network of properties, travel services, and exclusive benefits.

Endless Benefits of Membership

Greater Flexibility: Travel memberships offer the freedom to explore various destinations and accommodations, allowing you to design your dream vacation without the limitations of a fixed timeshare. With access to a global network of properties, you can choose from luxurious resorts, boutique hotels, vacation homes, and even premium economy tickets, ensuring that every trip is tailored to your preferences.

Cost Savings: By joining a vacation club, you can save a significant amount of money on future vacations. Many clubs negotiate discounted rates and secure exclusive deals on accommodation, flights, car rentals, and more. The savings gained through membership can be allocated towards upgrading your experiences or embarking on additional trips throughout the year.

Access to Premium Benefits: Vacation clubs often offer perks such as priority pass memberships, which provide access to airport lounges worldwide, making your travel experiences more comfortable and enjoyable. Additionally, some clubs provide access to expedited security lines, global entry programs, and even insider opportunities such as mistake fares that can lead to heavily discounted flights.

Personalized Service: Vacation clubs prioritize their members’ satisfaction, ensuring that every trip exceeds expectations. Dedicated travel consultants assist with itinerary planning, offering expert advice and curated itineraries tailored to your preferences. Whether you seek relaxation, adventure, or cultural immersion, vacation clubs are designed to fulfill your desires and create unforgettable memories.

Additional Membership Benefits: Many clubs offer additional benefits beyond travel, such as roadside assistance programs, discounted entertainment tickets, and exclusive access to events and experiences. These added perks enhance your overall membership experience and provide value even when you’re not on a vacation.

How to Choose the Right Vacation Club

With numerous vacation clubs in the market, selecting the right one for your needs is essential. Consider the following factors before making a decision:

Membership Costs: Evaluate the annual membership fees and any initiation fees associated with joining the club. Compare the costs against the benefits offered to ensure you’re getting the best deal for your investment.

Travel Preferences: Assess the club’s portfolio of destinations, properties, and travel options to ensure they align with your preferences. If you have a particular destination in mind, ensure that it is covered by the club’s offerings.

Club Reputation: Research the club’s reputation within the travel industry. Look for reviews and testimonials from current and former members to gauge their satisfaction levels and experiences.

Additional Services: Consider the club’s additional services, such as travel planning assistance, room upgrades, and the availability of unique experiences. These value-added services can greatly enhance your vacation experience.

Vacation clubs have revolutionized the way people travel, offering an array of benefits that cater to the needs of frequent travelers and those seeking exceptional vacation experiences. With a vacation club membership, you gain access to a vast network of properties, discounted rates, personalized service, and exclusive perks that make each trip a memorable one. Whether you desire a beachfront escape in Lake Tahoe or a cultural expedition in a far-flung location, vacation clubs provide the keys to unlocking a world of travel opportunities while saving you money and ensuring your peace of mind. So, don’t miss out on the countless benefits offered by vacation clubs; start searching for the right club that aligns with your travel aspirations and embark on a journey filled with incredible adventures, unforgettable memories, and the assurance that you’ll always arrive home safely with a clear plus membership.

If you think you can’t afford to take a vacation, you are not alone! Thousands of people around the world feel that they cannot possibly fit a vacation into their budget. However, you may change your mind when you discover the benefits of joining a travel club.

A travel club membership grants each member access to travel, related services, amenities, and lodging. Some may even provide discounts for major vacation attractions, like theme parks. There are many travel clubs and all have their own unique features, responsibilities and benefits.

The main idea behind a travel club is to pay a one-time expense, instead of continually opening your wallet to pay for accommodations, food, travel, etc. This convenience allows you to focus on what’s important—your vacation.

What Makes a Travel Club Different From a Timeshare?

A travel club offers discounted (or prepaid) travel services, often encompassing food, hotel stays, and other amenities. Often these take the form of “packages” which frequently include airfare to/from your destination, discounts on car rentals, lodging, and meals. When you buy a timeshare , most often you’re just getting a place to stay—though, to be fair, timeshares are typically condominium-sized luxury units with a full kitchen. While not exactly a deal-breaking hardship, you may find that the time spent coordinating activities, transportation, and meals may cut into your relaxing vacation time.

To make matters slightly more confusing, some major timeshare resort brands offer their own travel clubs. Some timeshare points systems can be redeemed for discounted travel services. Again, each club is different, just as every resort brand is different. If you already own a timeshare, we encourage you to speak with your home resort to learn about available membership opportunities. If you are thinking about buying into a vacation club or a travel club, it is important to research what other members are saying about the club.

In some parts of the world, travel clubs operate in a similar fashion to timeshares, but they may not covered by the same legislation as timeshares. The travel club memberships offered for sale on VacationOwnership.com are all reputable, and many clubs affiliated with major trusted timeshare resort brands. However, even though dealing with a particular resort brand may offer certain advantages, it’s important to remember that each club is unique and each comes with its own opportunities (and obligations). This is why it is important to read what other members are saying about travel clubs.

Travel clubs also offer inexpensive travel insurance. This, by itself, is a strong incentive to purchase a travel club membership. If disaster strikes, travel insurance could mean the difference between a lifelong vacation memories and a series of unfortunate events.

Why Join a Travel Club Instead of Just Searching the Internet for Travel Deals?

Simply put: convenience. It is much more convenient to select from several vacation packages than it is to sit down and plan every second of your vacation beforehand. How you’re going to get there, where to stay on the road, what to eat, how to hit all the attractions without wasting a single second of your precious vacation time… with a travel club package, everything is already planned (and paid) well in advance. No more wondering if you brought enough cash to the restaurant, no more wondering if you budgeted enough gas to get to your destination, no more worrying whether or not you found the cheapest flights.

Because each travel club product is so unique, we encourage you to contact us with any questions about your membership. If you need help buying or selling a membership in a travel club, please contact the experts at VacationOwnership.com.

In response to my recent story on travel rip-offs , many of you wrote in to add travel discount programs to the list. Specifically, membership- or buy-in programs promising travel discounts, freebies, and more seemed to have left you with buyers’ remorse. Common complaints included lackluster perks, inflated pricing, and sneaky “gotcha” policies.

“Many of the promised ‘free entry’ venues were free to all, anyway!” wrote reader meg .

“I ordered an Entertainment Book on sale last year,” says reader mik . “What they did not tell me is that buying the book includes a ‘membership’ which means they automatically sent me a full priced book this year and then wanted to charge me return shipping to send it back.”

So, what’s the latest with these discount programs? Are there any that actually deliver on their promises to the customer, or are most not worth purchasing? I did a bit of digging to find out.

I put CityPass to the test in three different cities: New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. At first glance, the passes appear to offer good deals.

From a purely monetary standpoint, the CityPasses will save you money compared to buying all the admission fees individually. But let’s put emphasis on the all here: With each respective pass, take a closer look at the offerings to see if they appeal to you. It’s great that you’ll be getting a discount, but if most of the attractions don’t interest you, you’re not getting much value. Additionally, if you have limited time (e.g., just a weekend, say, rather than a week or two to explore), you may not be able to hit every attraction, or at best have limited time at each one as you rush to take them all in.{{{SmarterBuddy|align=left}}}In short, use critical and realistic judgment, taking time, logistics, and interests into consideration when shopping for a CityPass. If you like the offerings and have enough time to see them all, CityPass can be a great deal. If you’re not interested in some of the attractions or are crunched for time, you might want to consider going a la carte.

Many travelers tend to take advantage of AAA ‘s travel discount program, particularly in regard to hotel stays. While you can often get a few bucks knocked off a hotel’s per-night rate, be sure to shop around before choosing the AAA rate to ensure it’s the lowest or best fit for you.

I tested AAA prices against other rate classes at several hotels in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. In two cases (New York and Chicago), I found the AAA rate was equal to the hotels’ other promotional prices, and in San Francisco the AAA price was the lowest available. Additionally, I found that the AAA rate offered greater flexibility than some of the other sales, in that the only requirement was presenting the card at check-in. Some of the properties’ other sale rates required payment in advance, no cancellations or refunds, and other restrictions.

In short, every property is different and may have a variety of pricing structures. Do a little legwork to see what else is on hand before booking. While you may find the AAA rate fits your budget, there may be other sales that offer lower prices—you’ll only know if you do a bit of advance research.

AARP’s “discounts” are the most disingenuous of the programs I researched. On the AARP travel website , you’ll see an “AARP Travel Center” reservations area, affiliated with Expedia. I tested a variety of hotels to see if senior-only special offers or discounts were featured in the search results, and found in most cases they were not—the AARP results were nearly identical with Expedia.com’s own sale offerings for almost every property I checked.

As with AAA, you’ll have to do a bit of digging to determine if AARP’s discounts offer a good value. Don’t assume the first price you see is the lowest, whether you’ve found it on AARP or elsewhere. Compare prices among a variety of providers, and call companies directly to see if senior discounts or other sales (open to anyone) are available.

Student Advantage

The Student Advantage card offers a host of student discounts at retailers around the country, with travel providers such as American Airlines, Amtrak, Choice Hotels, and more represented.

The card costs $20 for a one-year membership, $30 for two years, $40 for three years, and $50 for four years. Here’s where the value proposition comes in: Do you think you’ll use the card enough to offset the sign-up cost? Do you think the perks, once purchased, are worth the membership fees? (Many travel providers offer discounts ranging from 5 to 25 percent off, with some restrictions, black-out dates, etc.)

Browse the available offers with a critical eye to see if you frequently visit participating retailers. If you do, signing up might be worth it. If you don’t, you may want to forego membership and search for non-member deals.

Entertainment Books

Entertainment books offer a variety of discounts throughout a specific region and/or city (e.g., Las Vegas, Orlando, Hawaii, and the like). Each book’s coupons are valid throughout the current calendar year and retail for $35. Additionally, once you’ve purchased your book, you’ll receive a link to a dedicated discount section of Entertainment’s website, where you can print additional coupons not found in the print edition.

Like Student Advantage, the Entertainment pay-for-discounts model requires careful consideration. You can see previews of current offers on the Entertainment website before you buy, as well as a breakdown of what types of retailers are offering discounts. Whether the discounts are a good value, appeal to your tastes, and the purchase price is affordable, is up to you.

5 Exclusive Vacation Clubs to Discover

If the thought of vacationing at a different resort every year appeals to you, vacation clubs might be your thing. Not to be confused with timeshares, vacation clubs operate differently.

travel clubs

Timeshares are purchases of time at a single community or resort every year. The length, and often dates, are predetermined. Timeshare owners are responsible for a portion of annual maintenance fees (which usually increase yearly), as well as special assessments and taxes. The length of time you can purchase at a timeshare can vary, but it’s almost always at the same place.

Vacation clubs and travel clubs offer a bit more variety. Members typically pay an initial membership fee and then receive an annual (usually) allocation of points that can be used as currency to book at different resorts under the club’s umbrella. High-season dates and desirable properties may cost more than less popular ones, and book up faster. For travelers who like to visit different new or different locales each year, vacation clubs can be an attractive option, but like timeshares, they come with ever-increasing yearly maintenance fees.

Many large hotel chains such as Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham have their own vacation clubs, while others operate their own private networks of resorts. Available properties can range from privately-owned condominiums in major cities to exclusive high-end villas and even cruises. We compared several vacation and travel club options and came up with a list of five top options.

My Travel Rewards Club

Visit website

travel clubs

My Travel Rewards Club offers members-only exclusives and private discounts on resorts, hotels, airfare, car rentals, and more. Members get special access to thousands of discounted resort weeks at prices unavailable to the general public, as well as more than 700,000 hotel properties around the world at discounts up to 70% off OTA pricing. With every resort, hotel, or cruise booking, members accrue same-as-cash rewards, which can be redeemed on the platform for resort weeks, hotels, cruises, or even used to cover the nominal annual dues. Three membership tiers offer different benefits—the Platinum level, for example, offers up to 8% back in Travel Rewards on each booking, three guaranteed resort week rentals each year at $699 or less (any week, any resort, any unit), and personalized concierge services are available 24/7 to help members book accommodations, tee times, spa treatments, private tours, and more. What truly sets My Travel Rewards Club apart, however, is that it is not affiliated with any single brand, resort, or hotel chain. Members enjoy discounts from thousands of well-known brands, providing the utmost in flexibility.

An Inspirato subscription grants you access to a six-continent portfolio of luxury vacation homes, five-star resorts, and boutique experiences—plus a dedicated team of on-site staff at your destination. The private homes offer top-notch amenities like gyms, chef-worthy kitchens and infinity-edge pools and their many resort partners are household names. Membership also includes boutique experiences such as safaris and VIP access to special events. Two membership tiers can accommodate all types of travel: the Inspirato Club ($600/month) allows you to pay nightly rates and select specific travel dates, while the $2,500/month Inspirato Pass lets you choose from a list of trips with pre-selected dates with no nightly rates, taxes, or fees.

Solstice Collection

travel clubs

The Solstice model operates a bit differently than other vacation clubs. They have eight signature properties in Europe, United States, St. Barth’sand Mexico, plus additional properties that are owned by their shareholders. All embody the spirit and character of their unique location and are suitable for even the most discerning traveler. Members pay a one-time administrative fee, then choose from three levels of membership that each offer a designated number of Advance Access, Space Available, and Spontaneous Usage days (more days can be purchased at $250/night). Solstice is not for everyone: they keep their membership small with an ideal member-to-home ratio of 6:1 in order to maintain an open and fluid scheduling calendar. In addition to having a dedicated Solstice representative to assist with trip planning, each vacation includes daily housekeeping services and a local team member to ensure a smooth stay.

Exclusive Resorts

travel clubs

For those who want a more secluded, upscale experience, Exclusive Resorts is the answer. Almost all their properties are located in more than 380 private resorts and gated communities and with 75 destinations, there are plenty of vacation spots to choose from. Exclusive Resorts is very discerning and keeps its membership small, accepting just over 100 new applicants per year. Once inside the club, members receive perks such as premium upgrades, medical care and discounts on everything from luggage delivery to private aviation. Members pay a one-time initiation fee for a multi-year membership, then select the number of days they want to travel each year for one set rate. Unlike some other vacation clubs, there’s a set price per night no matter where you stay or when (including peak seasons and holidays).

Disney Vacation Club

travel clubs

This one is more of a timeshare/vacation club hybrid: you do purchase real estate interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort, but it comes in the form of an annual allotment of Vacation Points which you can use to book accommodations at other Disney properties. Most are in Florida, South Carolina, Hawaii, and California. Eligible Members receive exclusive invitations to special events like holiday celebrations, culinary experiences and “Moonlight Magic” events (complimentary after-hours celebrations at select Disney parks). Membership pricing starts at more than $300 plus an additional $100 and up in dues each month—but members can borrow points from upcoming years or bank points that go unused.

Best Vacation Clubs You Should Join in 2024

  • Buying , Owning

Are you a frequent traveler looking to revolutionize the way you vacation? If so, then you might have started exploring the possibilities of timeshares, vacation clubs, and travel clubs. While these terms are often used interchangeably, they each offer unique benefits. In short, a timeshare is a specific interval of time you own at a single resort. The best vacation clubs, on the other hand, give you access to multiple timeshare resorts and multiple timeshare vacations throughout the year. Finally, a travel club is a supplementary service offered by some timeshare companies which confers perks like discounts, experiences, and travel services. As we’ll see, the lines between travel and vacation clubs can get a bit blurry because either may offer similar services to the other. But Fidelity Real Estate is here to clear the air and tell you the best luxury vacation clubs and travel clubs to join in 2024.

Travel Club Vs. Vacation Club

Top disney vacation club resorts, top marriott vacation club resorts, top club wyndham resorts, top hilton grand vacations club resorts, top bluegreen vacations resorts, top hyatt residence club resorts, top holiday inn club resorts, top westgate travel club resorts, what is a vacation club.

Vacation clubs are a more modern form of timeshares. They are typically points-based and allow members to spend points at various resorts in the brand’s portfolio. Traditional timeshares are often a fixed week at one resort. Owners return to their resort at the same time every year and even stay in the same unit! Vacation clubs, however, offer more freedom and flexibility. Members can travel worldwide with their membership and stay at different resorts each year.

Vacation Club Vs. Timeshare

Did you know that many of the best vacation clubs are actually timeshares? Marriott Vacation Club, DVC, Hilton, and more offer flexible points-based timeshares that appeal to any type of traveler. Vacation clubs often have multiple resort properties and exchange options compared to a traditional deeded timeshare. However, they are one and the same these days!

Travel clubs are a great way to save money as well as access a variety of travel services and experiences. Whether it’s a free or paid membership, clubs offer a range of discounts and exclusive perks to members. Airline discounts, hotel bookings, car rentals, and travel packages are some of these discounts. Vacation Clubs have shifted to letting owners use points towards experiences outside of only booking resorts, similar to how travel clubs aren’t just booking hotels. For example, they may let you use your points for theme park tickets, concerts, flights, and more. In short, with a travel club, you get discounts, and with a vacation club, you get annual points that are used as currency to put towards different resorts and experiences.

Still fuzzy on what a timeshare is and how it works? Fidelity can clear things up!

Is a vacation club with the ultimate luxury timeshare vacation packages what you’re after? Marriott Vacation Club offers exceptional accommodations and resorts. Trying to go worldwide? Disney's Grand Floridian Resort Waterfront Sunset

Is Disney Vacation Club worth it? Well, with 15 locations across the U.S. and some of the most family-friendly resorts, Disney Vacation Club certainly isn’t a bad choice. As DVC’s recommended resale broker since 2005, we can’t deny this club’s impact on the timeshare industry.

With a points-based timeshare membership, DVC owners love the flexibility of their timeshare vacations. Aulani Resort & Spa in Oahu is a favorite among families for tropical beach vacations. On the other hand, if you’re looking to stay as close to the magic as possible, head to one of the 11 resorts right in Orlando. The newest resort near Disney World, Riviera Resort , for example, offers guests an escape to the French Riviera through its theming and dining options.

Get a look at all of DVC’s Home Resorts so you can decide exactly which one to purchase. Keep in mind, however, that the latest resale restrictions from DVC make it a little more difficult for resale owners to use their points at other DVC resorts. Disney Vacation Club is also part of the Interval International network, making it possible to exchange your DVC points for stays at other luxury resorts! Look through Disney Vacation Club timeshares for sale now.

How Much is a Vacation Club Membership?

Depending on the vacation club you want to join, the cost of a vacation club membership can vary. However, the American Resort Development Association ( ARDA ) has stated that the average cost of a timeshare is $23,940. Remember that while the cost of joining a luxury vacation club is high, you are really paying for a lifetime of vacations, and that in the long run, it will be cheaper than a lifetime of cramped hotel rooms. Moreover, buying a vacation club membership on the timeshare resale market can save you thousands of dollars. Of course, there are maintenance fees as well to keep in mind. These are normally due on an annual basis.

7 international destinations perfect for a golf trip.

You’ve played some of the best golf courses in the United States . Now, you’re looking to pack your clubs, rally some friends, and hit the links on an international golf trip. But which parts of the world boast the best collection of golf courses?

Top Golf Destinations

From Latin America to the South Pacific — and, of course, Scotland — here’s a list of seven international destinations perfect for a golf trip.

1. Scotland: The Birthplace of Golf

The famous Swilcan bridge on the 18th hole of the Old Course links in St Andrews, Scotland. Many ... [+] famous golfers have traditionally posed for photographs on this bridge at the end of their tournament rounds, thanking the crowds for their support. The Royal & Ancient clubhouse can be seen towards the left of the background.

The Scottish seaside town of St. Andrews is known around the world as the birthplace of golf, and the iconic Old Course headlines most golfers’ bucket lists. Book a stay at the golf-inspired Rusacks St Andrews, where rooms come with views of the hallowed turf.

Even if you can’t score a tee time at the Old Course, there’s plenty more courses beckoning. In fact, Scotland has more golf courses per person than anywhere else in the world. From the links of Fife to courses along the dunes of Aberdeenshire’s coast, the country has more than 550 courses.

Scotland’s weather is known to fluctuate, but the golf season is typically April to September.

2. Ireland: A Links Paradise

Google issues ‘critical’ chrome update for all windows users, new ios 18 ai security move changes the game for all iphone users, world war i tactics make a comeback as a ukrainian gunner in the back of a propeller plane shoots down a russian drone.

Adare Manor in Ireland.

Ireland is nicknamed the “green of dreams” and the island is home to more than 400 golf clubs. A third of the world’s natural links courses are here, and more than 240,000 golfers make the pilgrimage to Ireland each year to play on the unforgiving fairways.

In County Limerick, Adare Manor is a coveted stay for golfers. The championship golf course designed by golf architect Tom Fazio will host the 2027 Ryder cup.

While most courses are open all year round, the best time for Ireland golf trips is from April to October. In peak summer, it stays light out until 10 p.m., which means you can play a couple of rounds and make the most of your golf vacation.

3. Fiji: Luxury Private Island Greens

Denaru Golf & Racquet Club

Fiji is a draw for all types of vacationers, from honeymooners to scuba divers. But it’s also a golfer’s paradise in the South Pacific, with more than a dozen courses scattered across the islands and stunning fairways lined with palm trees.

For those coming for golf, Viti Levu, the main island, is home to three championship courses: Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course, which is located at the InterContinental Resort and comes with Pacific Ocean views, Denarau Golf & Racquet Club, and The Pearl South Pacific Golf Course.

Fun fact: The country has even produced one of the world’s top golfers, Vijay Singh, who fell in love with the game at the Nadi Airport Golf Course.

4. New Zealand: Dramatic Scenery

Te Arai Links in Tomarata, New Zealand

In New Zealand, golf is the sport with the highest participation among both men and women. The country has more than 400 golf courses, and the dramatic landscapes — from craggy, isolated coastlines tracing the greens to soaring mountains in the alpine areas — make it one of the most idyllic destinations for golfers.

Renowned architect Tom Doak has said “no country has seen its golf courses improve more over the past 20 years than New Zealand.” One of his famous New Zealand courses is Cape Kidnappers, which is perched above the ocean on clifftops, and built on ridge-and-valley landscape.

A 90 minute drive from Auckland (or 25 minutes via helicopter), Te Arai Links , which has two links golf courses along the coastline is also a sought-after destination. One course was designed by Doak, and the other is from Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. In between tee times, the area is known for its surf breaks and lively nearby market towns, Mangawhai and Matakana, as well as its vineyards and olive groves.

October through April is considered high season, and golfers will pay less the other times of year.

5. Mexico: Mountain, Desert And Ocean Landscapes

Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto

Los Cabos and the Baja Peninsula have long dominated as one of the best golf destinations in not just Latin America, but the world, thanks to its mountain-desert-ocean landscape, gentle sea breezes, and a collection of cacti-studded courses designed by some of the world’s greatest golf architects, like Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Greg Norman and Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

In Loreto, which is on the Eastern coast of Baja California Peninsula, golfers can tee off in a UNESCO World Heritage site when they play a round at Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto by Danzante Bay, which overlooks the turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez. Travelers can book packages Unlimited Golf or Spa that comes with unlimited rounds for three days.

Golf continues to grow and get better throughout Mexico, with more than 200 courses to play. Beyond the Baja Peninsula, some other top golf spots in Mexico include the courses dotting the Pacific Coastline and in the Riviera Maya, like El Camaleón, an 18-hole, Greg Norman-designed course that moves through tropical jungle, mangroves, and past freshwater canals. It’s also the first PGA Tour Course in Latin America.

6. Vietnam: A Fast-Growing Golf Destination

Hoiana Shores in Vietnam

For golfers looking for the next ‘it’ destination, turn your attention to Vietnam, where some of the world’s best golf architects are designing courses in the mountains, jungles, and along its coastline. Before 2020, there were about 80 golf courses in Vietnam, many attached to luxury resorts. By 2025, more than 200 courses will be built out.

Golfers can find year-round golf in Vietnam, heading into the highlands like Dalat for a cool mist and mountain breezes and hitting and booking tee times in Ho Chi Minh City and Southern Vietnam throughout the year. November to April is dry and cool in Northern Vietnam, and the same goes for Central Vietnam from February to May.

Hoina Shores Golf Club , designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., is a must-play for any golf enthusiast visiting Vietnam. It’s located within the $4 billion Hoiana Casino and Resort development on the Vietnamese coast south of Danang.

7. Mauritius: Bucket List Golf Destination

Anahita Golf Club

Mauritius is known for its stunning beaches and lush rainforests and unofficial world wonders like the Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Geopark, a sand dune bursting with colors. But this island in the Indian Ocean also has a history of golf. The tourism office claims that in 1844, when it was under British rule, Mauritius was the third country in the world to be introduced to the sport and Gymkhana Golf Club was the fourth country club in the world where golf was played

Today, Mauritius has 10 18-hole courses and three 9-hole golf courses, including the bucket-list worthy Iles aux Cerfs Golf Club at Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius . Golfers take a complimentary boat shuttle to the golf course where 18 holes come with scenic ocean views. The resort’s second course is Anahita Golf Club, which is set on a former sugar plantation and backed by mountains and fringed by a lagoon.

Michigan police target distracted drivers in unmarked spotter vehicles

Phone use while driving a big focus.

Ken Haddad , Digital Managing Editor

Police across the state of Michigan are launching a crackdown on distracted driving using unmarked vehicles.

Law enforcement officers from state, county, and local agencies will begin conducting “Operation Ghost Rider” throughout Michigan on Monday.

Recommended Videos

Police will use unmarked spotter vehicles, which contain a law enforcement passenger. When the spotters observe a distracted driver, they radio a fully marked law enforcement unit to initiate a traffic stop.

One of the biggest things police are looking for are drivers using their phones while driving. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed the state’s hands-free driving legislation into law last year.

Under the law, a driver cannot hold or support a phone or other device with any part of their hands, arms, or shoulders. Even if a cell phone or other device is mounted on a dashboard or connected to a vehicle’s built-in system, a driver cannot use their hands to operate it beyond a single touch.

Violations include: 1st violation, $100 fine and/or 16 hours of community service; 2nd or subsequent violations, $250 fine and/or 24 hours of community service; 3 violations within a 3-year period, complete a driving-improvement course.

Fines are doubled if a traffic crash occurs and the at-fault driver was holding or manually using a mobile device while operating the vehicle. Violators can also be cited for careless driving, which is a three (3) point offense and a civil infraction punishable by a fine.

“Despite knowing the risks, distracted drivers continue to put themselves and the innocent people around them in danger,” said Jim Santilli, CEO of TIA and chairman of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commissions’ Distracted Driving Action Team. “Sadly, many people have lost a loved one to a completely preventable behavior. We can all do our part by keeping our eyes on the road and hands on the wheel at all times.”

Operation Ghost Rider was revealed at a press conference in Macomb County in 2017. Several mobilizations will be scheduled during 2024.

Even just on PC, the Fallout 4 "Next Gen" update has been pretty goof troop ; those who owned it on GOG managed to pull the ripcord via its ability to rollback patches. It broke a bunch of mods, and it's important to note that while there are lots of mods that add content many of them just sand the edges off UI concerns or make the game easier and more fun to play. On Playstation, the whole affair gets stranger: it wasn't clear originally which versions of the game were entitled to the update, which I sorta just thought was free. I'm gonna paste a paragraph here from the IGN Article about it - try to parse this:

"Following last week’s launch of the update, PlayStation 5 owners were left confused over which subscription version of the game would qualify as getting the native next-gen patch for free when it, at least initially, wasn’t available for anyone. It turns out the free update is only for subscribers who have the game via the PlayStation Plus Extra catalog. That means everyone else has to pay for Fallout 4’s native PS5 version, if they didn't already own the game outright, including those who own Fallout 4 via the now defunct PS Plus Collection. Meanwhile, all Xbox Game Pass subscribers get Fallout 4 and the next-gen update for free."

The last part is whatever because Microsoft literally owns the company in question, so that's not a huge surprise. I have mostly been playing games on computers since Quarantine, that's just where all the stuff I wanted was, and now that Sony's dishing up to the PC I'm eating good. But there are some distinctions in the paragraph - PS Plus Collection versus PlayStation Plus Extra - that are artifacts of a period I didn't really live on the platform as a customer. But none of that sounds very much like a leisure activity! That all sounds weird as hell.

So it's a very Bethesda experience, is what I'm saying. If you've been around, everybody sorta knows this. I'm grabbing day one mods to make the inventory legible. You know? There's always been kind of a handshake deal between Bethesda and its massive community that there's kind of a baton pass that happens at launch. I'm not trying to be a dick, that's just the ritual and everybody gets it. We'll see how these newly minted acolytes from the show take it.
