8 Outdoor Metro Detroit Water Parks for Summer Fun

The summer heat is coming to Michigan, and what better way to cool off than by visiting your local outdoor water park? Water parks offer the best of both worlds for those waiting to relax by the pool or for those who would like to jump in, make a splash, and catch a wave while having fun with friends or family.

There are many ways to cool off and make a splash in and around metro Detroit. You can start off by checking out these eight outdoor water parks to plan your summer fun.

Located in Holly State Park, this award-winning inflatable water course is available to jump and climb on during the heat. Featuring a floating obstacle course and watercraft such as kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards, there is much to do while you relax as the kids splish and splash. When it’s time to eat, grab a snack at SnackZone concessions.  WhoaZone opened on May 27, 2023. $12-$55 . WhoaZone, 5005 McGinnis Road, Holly ; whoa.zone .    

Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center

This family fun outdoor water park has fun for all ages including two waterslides, a lazy river, a 300-gallon dumping bucket, and a zero-depth entry pool. It will open in mid-June. $8-$12. Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center, 40151 E. Huron River Drive, Belleville ; metroparks.com .   

Wayne Family Aquatic Center

Enjoy Wayne County’s largest water park as you search to beat the summer heat. There is much to do at this outdoor water park, which features a wave pool, Splish Splash Land, and two 23-foot-high waterslides. The little ones will have a blast conquering this water park. Opening is June 21, 2023. $2-$90. Wayne Family Aquatic Center, 12600 Chandler Park Drive, Detroit ; waynecountyaquatic.com .

Troy Family Aquatic Center

This outdoor water park is sure to please you and your family. Slip and slide on body slides, hangout by the main pool, or play some volleyball. The little ones enjoy a waterfall and a splash pad. Grab a bite to eat at the Harvey’s Hut concession stand as well. This water park opens June 2, 2023. $12-$540. Troy Family Aquatic Center, 3425 Civic Center Drive, Troy ; Troy Family Aquatic Center .

Rolling Hills Water Park

This park is your ticket to wild summer fun. Whether it’s floating down the lazy river, dipping into the wave pool, or sliding down a water slide, this Ypsilanti water park has it all. The little ones can enjoy the Activity Pool with zero-depth entry, geysers, a waterfall, and a kiddie slide. Rolling Hills opened on May 27, 2023. $6-$30. Water Warrior Island

This inflatable water park is located within Orion Township’s Van Riper State Park. You can soar and bounce at this water park while also slicking down the new Warrior Whoa Slide. Slides, swings, jumping pillows, and bouncers are connected for ultimate water fun. Water Warrior Island opened on May 24, 2023. Waterford Oaks Waterpark  

This tropical wave pool offers much in the Michigan heat including palm trees and bubble fountains that can be your own oasis. Enjoy heated pools, catch a wave in the wave pool, have fun in the children’s water playground, or tackle a three-story raft ride. This outdoor fun park will open June 10, 2023. $8-$13. Kennedy Aquatic Center

This outdoor water park offers a state-of-the-art facility with a waterslide, splash area, a leisure pool with 9 water features, and 2 diving boards. People of all ages can enjoy this place to dip their toes into and beat the summer heat. This aquatic center will open June 19, 2023. Pop punk trio Waterparks have laid out their plans for this fall and it's a 20-date tour they're calling "A Night Out on Earth." The trek begins in Portland, Oregon on October 27 and wraps up December 6 in Los Angeles. The tour will support the band's 4th studio album, Greatest Hits , released just last month. Although Waterparks live debuted much of the album during a June 4 livestream for Veeps , we're still eager to see the electric energy that a live audience full of fans can bring to the new material! Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning this Friday, June 18.

Waterparks announce A Night Out On Earth U.S. tour dates

Waterparks are taking new album Greatest Hits out on the road in America on their 2021 A Night Out On Earth tour…

Fresh from the release of brilliant fourth album Greatest Hits , Waterparks have announced that they'll be taking the record out on the road in America this year as part of their A Night Out On Earth U.S. tour.

The 25-date run will come after the Texan trio hit the UK for several album release shows before they play acoustic and full-band sets at September's Slam Dunk Festival (then, next year, they'll be crossing the pond again for some massive UK academy dates in June 2022).

Speaking to AltPress about what fans can expect from the band's upcoming U.S. tour, frontman Awsten Knight said: "I’m really competitive with myself and never want to do anything unless I know it’s better than our previous version – whether that’s albums, production, videos, any of it. For the tour, you can absolutely expect the best stage design to date, the best merch – which I actually took a break from making to do this – and some cool opener ideas, too."

Waterparks Announce Massive Spring & Summer Tour Across North America

The general public on-sale begins at 10am local venue time this coming Friday, 12/16.

On the heels of their fifth full-length studio album announcement, pop/rock three-piece Waterparks are pleased to share that they will be heading back out on the road in 2023 for their much-anticipated "PROPERTY TOUR."

The massive 30-date headline run kicks off in the spring on Friday, April 23 in Anaheim, CA and hits major cities including Chicago, New York, Boston, and more before wrapping in the summer at Los Angeles' Fonda Theatre on Tuesday, June 13. HUNNY will also provide direct support on all shows.

The general public on-sale begins at 10am local venue time this coming Friday, 12/16, with all tickets available on Waterparks' official website. The official artist pre-sale will also occur on Wednesday, 12/14 at 10am local.

Waterparks recently revealed that their fifth full-length album INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY will be out in spring 2023 via Fueled By Ramen. To preview the forthcoming project, the trio unveiled a string of high-energy tracks in 2022 in the midst of various global tour dates, including a U.S. cross-country run on the Nothing Matters Tour with blackbear.

Most recently, the band shared the incendiary "f ABOUT IT" (feat. blackbear), followed by the confessional, diaristic single "SELF-SABOTAGE," which was given a fresh take with a collaboration featuring Good Charlotte.

The track received a dance remix from MCD4 as well. "SELF-SABOTAGE" followed up Waterparks' debut single with Fueled by Ramen "FUNERAL GREY," marking the trio entering their newest era - stepping into an elevated sound and enhanced aesthetic that builds upon their half a billion career streams and dedicated, global fanbase. Their last album Greatest Hits also earned the no. 5 spot on the Billboard Rock and Alternative chart.

Additionally, Waterparks will be playing two U.S. festival performances later in the year at When We Were Young in Las Vegas (Oct.) and Adjacent Festival in Atlantic City, NJ (May). A full itinerary can be found below.

FOR YOUR MAXIMUM SAFETY AND ENJOYMENT WHILE VISITING OUR WATER PARK, PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES IN MIND:

• Have a fun and a safe day at the Gold Rush Waterpark.
• Obey lifeguards at all times.
• No food and refreshments are allowed within the pool area.
• No food and refreshments allowed on any ride or in any pool.
• Food and beverage not purchased at the Double JJ may not be brought into the water park.
• Breakable materials, such as glass, and hazardous materials are prohibited in the pool area.
• Persons with possibly infectious conditions shall be excluded from the pool.
• Pollution of swimming pool such as spitting, urinating, or blowing one’s nose is prohibited.
• No one is permitted in the pool when a supervising adult is not present at pool.
• Proper suit attire must be worn.  No thongs allowed.
• Infants and toddlers must wear swim diapers while in pools.
• Pets are not permitted in pool area.
• The pools and spas are not be used after consumption of alcohol.
• Smoking is not permitted.
• All persons must shower before entering pool.
• Double JJ admittance wristbands must be worn at all times.
• Only coast guard approved life jackets are permitted.
• No running.
• No diving or jumping.
• No dunking, shoulder riding, or rough play.
• Tubes may only be ridden with one person per opening.
• Multiple tubes are not allowed in a slide at one time.
• Double JJ towels may not leave the water park.
• Pregnant women, guests with heart conditions, guests with neck or back problems, and guests under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted to ride any slide.
• Failure to follow lifeguard instructions will result in removal from the water park.
• State law requires riders to obey all warnings and directions for carnival or amusement rides and behave in a manner that will not cause or contribute to the injury of themselves or others.
• All accidents, however minor, must be reported to the lifeguard on duty and an accident report must be filed prior to leaving the premises.

Parent/Guardian

• Children age 13 and under must be supervised by an adult
• Know the physical, mental and emotional abilities of yourself and your child.
• Stay in close proximity to your child and closely supervise their activities.
• Know where your child is and have them in sight at all times.
• A lifeguard and/or a life jacket do not replace the watchful eyes and direct supervision of a parent/guardian.

In an ongoing effort to ensure guest safety and satisfaction, the Double JJ Resort has partnered with National Aquatics Safety Company (NASCO), a private, outside consulting firm specializing in aquatic risk management. To keep our standards and practices at the highest levels possible, we will typically do a number of drills and skills tests during hours of operation. In addition to this, NASCO will perform three unannounced operational audits per year at each facility, testing them in areas of professionalism, diligence in scanning techniques and rescue skills, as well as their ability to manage an aquatic emergency. Waterpark FAQs

What is the temperature inside the waterpark?

Is the waterpark connected to my room, do i need to bring towels.

We provide towels to our Gold Rush guests however you may want to bring your own, at busy times the availability of towels is limited.

Are there lockers available?

Yes, we rent lockers for one-day use only, $15 for a large locker or $10 for a small locker, plus a $20 deposit which will be refunded to you when you return the key at the end of the day. We have lockers in our men’s and women’s locker rooms as well outside of the locker rooms for family use. Space is limited though! Please keep in mind that luggage cannot be stored in the lockers. We recommend that you bring a small bag to place your water park necessities in.

What about life jackets?

We provide Coast Guard approved life jackets at both pools. Our life jackets require a $10 refundable deposit, and there are a limited amount. Guests may bring their own life jackets, but they must be Coast Guard approved. No other flotation devices, such as a baby floaty, are not allowed.

Is there wireless internet available?

Can i buy a bathing suit there, do i have to pay if i am not going to swim.

No, spectators are free.

Can my baby get in the water?

Can i bring a cooler into the waterpark.

No outside food or beverage will be allowed in the water park. This is not to be confused with food that is sold on the lobby level of the water park. You may certainly order food from Rustler’s Roost (for example) and take it down into the water park to enjoy it.

Are flip-flops or aqua-socks required?

What is the age requirement for children to be in the water by themselves, can other people use the waterpark, things to bring to make your stay with us more comfortable:.

AMAZING ENERGY LIVE!!!

I've seen them 5 times so far and they don't ever dissapoint. if you've seen videos of them live just prepare for it to go 10× harder irl. they're really interactive with the crowd, awsten talks to it for at least 10 minutes or something so it really feels different every time.

the (european) fans are also normally super chill and queueing is a lot of fun, making friends is really easy even when you're introverted because you just feel safe immediately<3

they also often come out after the show and talk to fans, sign stuff and take selfies. they're just overall such nice people, if you have the opportunity to definitely go see them!

WATERPAKS ARE AMAZING LIVE!

Went to see them on their tour for FANDOM in Seattle in a small club called the El Corazon(the sound was great there btw). They are so entertaining to watch and if you love their music it's just even better. Everyone jumped and singed along to every single song it was great. Awsten is pretty funny too. I would really like to see them again in the future because these three guys were absolutely amazing in concert.

Seeing Waterparks was the best night of my life! The stage presence these guys have is incredible! They're the first real band I've seen in concert and I can't complain at all. After discovering them in November of 2017 I instantly fell in love with them and I've been tracking their tour dates ever since. After seeing they were touring I snagged the tickets as fast as I could. A few days short of my one year anniversary date of finding them, I got to see them live! They're all so sweet and caring and I could see the genuine enjoyment they had playing! I also enjoyed seeing IDKHBTFM live as their opening act. Two of my favorite bands in the same night! What a great night. I'll always remember it. I definitely recommend seeing these guys if you like their music.

Watch parties, tours, panel discussions planned during NFL draft in Detroit

Celebrations will unfold across various parks, bars, hotels and the streets of downtown Detroit as fans and football figures come together for the NFL draft Thursday through Saturday.

Some events are free and others require registration, so visitors are encouraged to plan ahead as limited admission will be granted. Here are a few events to consider as you prepare to celebrate the NFL draft in Detroit.

Draft Day in the D

The Downtown Detroit Partnership is hosting a three-day celebration open to fans and visitors of all ages across downtown Detroit. Festivities will take place at Capitol Park, Beacon Park, Paradise Valley Beatrice Buck Park, Grand Circus Park and on a closed-off portion of Woodward Avenue between State and Witherell streets. Highlights will include 10 20-foot video walls showcasing live feeds of the event, more than 60 live music performances, more than 35 local food trucks, Bud Light beer tents, more than 45 local vendors and more.

11 a.m.-11 p .m. Thursday-Friday; and noon-8 p.m. Saturday. Free admission.

Greektown Tailgate

Experience two blocks of live music, sports viewing, games, food, drinks and more in the heart of historic Greektown. The main stage will host 19 bands; the DJ stage will feature 12 local DJs and highlight Detroit's electronic music and dance scene.

Noon-midnight April Thursday-Saturday on Monroe Street between St. Antoine and Brush streets in Detroit.

There will be viewing tents, complimentary shuttles, access to Draft festivities along with stores and restaurants offering exclusive deals and discounts.

First Round VIP Night-Watch Party
