Disney Fantasy Ship Overview

The Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship at sea

Image © Disney

The arrival of the Disney Fantasy in 2012 marked what many saw (at the time) as the “completion” of Disney’s fleet, bringing the total number of ships to four. Disney Magic and Disney Wonder had launched more than a decade earlier in the late 1990s, followed by the Disney Dream in 2011.

While the launch of the Dream one year earlier had consumed some of the pent-up demand for a new Disney Cruise ship, the Fantasy’s arrival was still a source of excitement for avid cruisers. Like the Dream, Imagineers planning the Fantasy were able to take advantage of all the experience and technological advances they’d perfected since the launch of the first ships. Innovations such as the AquaDuck water coaster and an onboard mystery game featuring interactive artwork, the Fantasy offers lots to keep its Guests occupied.

As you arrive at the port and approach the Disney Fantasy, you might notice Dumbo and Timothy on the ship’s stern. Dumbo’s 7-foot ear span and 2,300 weight — contrasted against their apparent size compared to the rest of the ship — help drive home the true size of this amazing floating city.

Inside, the three-decks-tall grand atrium lobby of the ship pays homage to the golden age of steamliner travel. A statue of Minnie Mouse — in period-appropriate garb and with luggage in tow — greets passengers embarking on their seafaring adventure.

This central hub of activity is decorated in an Art Nouveau motif, with designs reminiscent of peacock feathers repeated throughout.

From the atrium, take gleaming glass elevators to your stateroom or to any of the restaurants, theatres, pools, and activities scattered about the ship’s 14 passenger decks.

How Does Disney Fantasy Compare to Other Disney Cruise Ships?

The Disney Fantasy is a sister ship to the Disney Dream ; the two ships, which launched within roughly a year of one another, are generally the same in terms of construction. That said, some similar areas on each ship are themed slightly differently from one another — the nightclub district, for example, offers entirely different venues on each ship. The Fantasy (and Dream) are significantly larger than the two original ships ( Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ) but remain slightly smaller than the Disney Wish .

The Disney Fantasy is one of the “mid-sized” ships in the Disney Cruise fleet, at least based on what we now about the remaining Disney Cruise ships currently being built . It is larger than the classic ships, but will be well below the gargantuan size of the ship Disney is planning to launch in Singapore in 2025.

Disney Fantasy is one of only two ships in the fleet to offer the AquaDuck water coaster, the Remy adult-exclusive fine dining restaurant, and virtual portholes (with live camera views of the outside) for its inside staterooms.

Should I Pick the Fantasy or a Smaller/Larger Ship?

Ship size is usually a matter of personal preference depending on how importantly you rank the various pros and cons.

Smaller ships such as the Magic and Wonder are generally easier to navigate on foot – indeed, you’re just a short walk away from the restaurants or virtually anything else onboard. My wife and I tend to prefer the smaller ships for this very reason — but I can honestly say we’ve never found the difference compelling enough to steer us toward solely booking the smaller ships. Interestingly enough, Katie and I have sailed onboard the larger ships more than the smaller ones, even though we prefer the smaller ones.

We at MagicGuides also tend to recommend smaller ships for first-time cruisers as they might feel a bit less overwhelming — but again, it’s not a major consideration. My first Disney Cruise (and my first cruise ever, for that matter) was on the Disney Fantasy’s sister ship the Disney Dream; I never felt overwhelmed during my maiden voyage and you likely won’t either.

On the other hand, some repeat cruisers love larger ships such as the Disney Fantasy because the larger size is simply just a bit more impressive and immersive. There’s no doubt that the larger size fully envelops you in the action. That first glimpse of the ship in port as you arrive for your cruise — and its looming presence at every port along the way, almost become a point of pride for cruisers.

Larger ships such as the Fantasy are at a disadvantage in smaller ports where they might simply not fit, but this usually is not a concern. Disney wisely plans its itineraries to avoid this issue wherever possible, though some ports are so small that virtually every cruise ship has to rely on tsmaller boats to ferry you to shore (known as tendering ).

A bigger ship means more passengers, so onboard venues are larger as a result. Luckily, the larger restaurants, theaters, and pools do a great job of handling the additional passengers so it rarely feels crowded. Those larger venues also give you more options; you can pick a lower or upper balcony seat at a movie theatre, for example, or you might simply have more shops/lounges to choose from. But don’t worry that it’s too big — the Imagineers who designed the ship pulled out their bag of design tricks such as forced perspective, which means you can still find cozy spots onboard that almost make it feel like you have the ship to yourself. Sailing during slower times can also help.

Disney Fantasy Staterooms

A bed, couch, and desk, in front of a sliding glass door leading to a verandah balcony

Choosing your own private room onboard the ship is a major part of planning your Disney Cruise. Your stateroom (AKA your passenger cabin) serves as your hotel room at sea. It’s where you’ll spend a decent portion of your waking hours — and where you’ll sleep each night.

The Disney Fantasy boasts 1,250 staterooms, most of which offer outside views through a porthole window or a private verandah (balcony). There are four primary types of staterooms on the ship; each of those four types is further divided into multiple categories and subcategories. Your choice of stateroom is one of the biggest factors in the how much a Disney Cruise costs , because the per-person cost can increase depending on the stateroom category.

Here is a brief list of the room types offered onboard. They’re listed here generally from least expensive to most expensive, though there may be some price overlap. For a more in-depth look at each of these room types, including complete descriptions and photos, check out our Disney Cruise Staterooms article.

Inside Staterooms on Disney Fantasy

An inside stateroom on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy

Inside Staterooms are the smallest Guest rooms on the ship, but are still larger than those found on some other cruise lines. Luckily they’re wisely designed to offer plenty of room for everyone and their luggage.

These staterooms have no porthole window and no balcony, but on the Disney Fantasy they do feature something called a “magical porthole.” That’s a circular video screen which provides live video from the outside, along with occasional character sightings.

Inside staterooms are offered in standard and deluxe variants, with standard being the smaller of the two. The standard version is also the only regular stateroom category on the ship which does not feature a split bathroom configuration. A split bathroom has a toilet & sink in one section, with a shower & sink in the other; this provides the handy benefit of allowing two people to get ready at the same time.

Oceanview Staterooms on Disney Fantasy

Oceanview staterooms offer an outside view through a porthole window. Note that the window does not open.

There are two major choices within this category: a  Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom which is similar in layout to many other staterooms on the ship, and a  Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom  which is larger and offers many additional features geared toward larger families. Family staterooms generally hold more people than other staterooms onboard.

Verandah staterooms offer a private outside balcony which can be accessed through glass doors in your room. Most verandahs have see-through metal railings, but don’t fret if you have a toddler cruising with you — they also have clear plexiglass sheets on them for safety. Note that a few verandah category staterooms have solid metal partitions or are otherwise somewhat obstructed.

Disney Fantasy Dining and Lounges

A themed dining room with columns shaped like giant paintbrushes

It’s common knowledge that dining is an important part of the cruise experience , and the Disney Fantasy certainly lives up to those expectations. Onboard, you’ll find three main dining restaurants, two elegant adult-exclusive specialty dining options, a nightclub district and several lounges, plus plenty of places to grab a quick meal or a snack.

Rotational Dining Restaurants on Disney Fantasy

Like all Disney Cruise Ships, the Disney Fantasy offers rotational dining during the nightly dinner service. This concept is a Disney Cruise Line dining innovation; you’re pre-scheduled to visit a different restaurant on each night of the cruise with no need to make individual reservations. And you’ll have the same servers each night, so they’ll get to know you and your food preferences.

Dinner at these three restaurants is included in the cost of your Disney Cruise .

Animator’s Palate

Animator’s Palate is the flagship dining experience on the Disney Fantasy. It offers a fan-favorite menu along with a taste of the magic of animation.

The menu is inspired by the cuisines of Asia, California, and the Pacific. Be sure to try the black truffle pasta purseittes, a personal favorite of mine (and of many other repeat cruisers). You’ll also find butternut squash soup, wild mushroom risotto, polenta cake with tomatoes and mushroom, a lemon-thyme marinated chicken dish, beef tenderloin, and much more.

Your dinner also includes one of several shows which focus on the art of animation.

In one version of the show — known as Undersea Magic — interactive digital animation of the Finding Nemo characters allows you to talk with Crush! It’s very similar to EPCOT’s Turtle Talk with Crush.

Animated Turtle Crush talks with diners at their table

In another version of the show — known as Animation Magic — you get a chance to become an animator! Start out by drawing your own character on a special paper placemat, then watch in awe as Sorcerer Mickey brings them to life at the end of your meal! I had a chance to do this on another Disney ship… it really does feel like magic!

  • Enchanted Garden

The atmosphere of this French countryside conservatory truly does feel enchanted; it magically changes from daytime to sunset to nighttime, all during the course of your dinner! Light fixtures transform and flowers “bloom” as your meal proceeds.

A fountain with Mickey Mouse atop serves as the centerpiece of a conservatory-themed dining room

Enchanted Garden offers a farm-fresh continental cuisine menu; My wife loves the lobster ravioli, while I’m always impressed by the unique curried carrot & apple soup. You an also enjoy the Ahi tuna and avocado tower, a lovely sea bass, marjoram-scented chicken, or pork tenderloin. Round out the meal with a tempting dessert of steamed lemon buttermilk pudding, banana sundaes, chocolate tortes, and almond meringue cake. Don’t be shy — order more than one!

Enchanted Garden sometimes serves as an alternate breakfast and lunch option (versus the primary onboard buffet Cabanas ).

  • Royal Court

An elegantly-set dining table with white tablecloth

You’re invited to a royal feast at this elegant restaurant inspired by the greatest animated princess tales Disney has ever made. You’ll see nods to Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and many more classics.

Your four-course royal feast includes French- and American-inspired options. I love anything with pomegranate so I always order the pomegranate-glazed duck breast. There’s also spinach soufflé, and iced lobster and jumbo shrimp cocktail, avocado citrus salad, French onion soup, beef tenderloin with lobster medallions, and many more tempting choices. For dessert, indulge in a crunchy and creamy crème brûlée or enjoy a peanut butter mousse.

Royal Court may also serve an alternate breakfast or lunch service on some days.

Adult-Exclusive Dining on the Disney Fantasy

Disney cruises are certainly family-friendly, but there are still options which cater solely to adults because everyone needs a little time to themselves. One of the best adult-exclusive offerings on the Disney Fantasy is its duo of elegant specialty restaurants . So send the kids off to the Oceaneer Club, put on some nice clothes, and enjoy a date night at Palo or Remy!

Tables in front of floor-to-ceiling windows at Palo restaurant

Palo is the home of memorable Italian cuisine during your cruise. This gorgeous venue includes giant windows overlooking the ocean, providing a perfect backdrop for your meal. Dinner menu items include seared sea scallops, tableside-fileted dover sole, butternut agnolotti, tiramisu, and a signature chocolate soufflé that’s considered one of the most popular items across the entire Disney Cruise fleet. On sea days, a tremendously-popular brunch service is typically offered.

Dining here requires an upcharge and space is usually in high demand; book as early as your onboard booking window allows.

The elegant dining room of Remy on the Disney Dream/Fantasy cruise ships

The most upscale onboard dining experience onboard the Disney Fantasy is Remy. The restaurant, named in honor of the diminutive chef in Ratatouille , transports you to France for a gourmet experience like no other. Dine in the main room, the 900-bottle wine room, or splurge for the luxurious private Gusteau room (complete with a custom multi-course menu).

Dinner at Remy begins with a signature champagne cocktail prepared at your table. Then, it’s a gastronomic adventure designed in part by Chef Scott Hunnel (of Disney World’s Victoria & Albert’s) and Chef Arnaud Lallement (recipient of three Michelin stars and voted by  other Michelin-starred chefs as one of the 10 best chefs in the entire world). A gourmet cheese trolley and selections such as duck, elk, Kobe beef, langoustine, and sablefish are hallmarks of the menu.

On certain cruises, there’s also a highly-demanded champagne brunch as well as a multi-course dessert experience.

Dining here requires a fairly significant upcharge. You’ll want to book as early as possible to have the best chance of securing a spot.

Casual Dining on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

Cabanas | Image © Disney

Breakfast and lunch are casual meals onboard the Disney Fantasy. So come as you are (just cover up any swimsuits) and grab a quick meal at Cabanas.

This buffet-style restaurant has nearly a dozen food stations offering a mix of American, Asian, and European favorites in an all-you-care-to-eat breakfast and lunch.

Décor-wise, you’re clearly “on the beach” here. You’ll find palm trees, “sand castle” artwork, and a Caribbean soundtrack. There’s also an impressive set of mosaic walls, with roughly 194,500 tiny Venetian enamel tiles making up scenes inspired by  Finding Nemo and the Great Barrier Reef.

As to the food, those seeking traditional American Breakfast favorites won’t be disappointed here. You’ll find all the usual morning offerings — custom-made omelets, bacon & sausage, Mickey Waffles, hash browns, and so on. But I always suggest making an effort to also try some of the international offerings that we normally don’t have for breakfast here in the states — perhaps an Asian offering such as rice and miso soup, or a European breakfast of fresh muesli with dried fruits and nuts. Because everything’s included, you can still pile on the Mickey Waffles alongside your more-adventurous choices.

Lunch at Cabanas is a daily-changing mix of chilled and hot choices. Jumbo iced shrimp & crab claws are longtime cruise favorites here, along with hamburgers, sandwiches, pizza, freshly-grilled meats, veggies, and much more.

Cabanas also offers an alternative dinner service most nights. It’s not buffet style at night; a server will present you with a menu and bring your food to you, and it’s usually a rather quiet meal. My spouse and I will sometimes plan to have dinner here on formal night if we don’t feel like packing dress clothes for the cruise.

Lounges, Bars, and Snacks on the Disney Fantasy

There’s always a place to grab a quick bite or a refreshing drink onboard. Whether you’re looking for a snack or a soda, or are seeking something a little stronger , you’ll easily find it on the ship. Here are just a few highlights:

  • Beverage Station

There’s no need to purchase a separate drink package on a Disney Cruise, as most non-alcoholic drinks are included at no additional cost (a rarity in the cruise industry). This self-service beverage station located near the pool offers unlimited refills of sodas, teas, coffees, and other non-specialty beverages.

An adults-only retreat that focuses on specialty coffees and teas during the day, with cocktails in the evening.

A compelling open-air bar on Deck 13 offering expansive views and delightful cocktails. Adults only.

A large lounge area with a stage, and the word

Eye Scream Treats and Frozone Treats

Cool down with all-you-can eat soft-serve ice cream cones (included in the cost of your cruise!), or spend a bit extra to enjoy a specialty smoothie.

Flo’s Cafe: Fillmore’s Favorites, Luigi’s Pizza, and Tow Mater’s Grill

For a quick grab-and-go snack poolside, check out these quick service windows. You’ll find pizza, chicken tenders, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and more.

A couple has a drink at a bar themed to a brightly-lit classical carousel

Part of the Europa nightclub district, this lounge features highlights of Italy. Gather ’round the Carosello bar or settle into an intimate booth to enjoy live music and Italian-inspired cocktails. Adults only.

Meridian Lounge

Supplement your elegant meal at Remy or Palo by having cocktails at this upscale travel-themed lounge conveniently located directly between those two fine dining establishments. Cigars are also offered for purchase.

Minnie’s Sweet on You

Purchase hand-scooped ice cream, baked goods, and candy in this shop. Fees apply.

O’Gill’s Pub

Polish of a pint or two at this Irish pub, featuring live sport on-screen and some of the best American, Irish, and international beer on tap. Adults only.

Three people enjoy drinks in a French-themed lounge

A whimsical atmosphere and a custom private-label Taittinger Champagne are the hallmarks of this lush lounge. Adults only.

A serene lounge on Deck 14 in the forward funnel (red smokestack). This spot is often overlooked due to its secluded location, so it’s a quiet retreat with compelling views (and a great wedding venue, too!).

An secluded lounge with deeply rich colors

  • Senses Juice Bar

Enjoy a healthy drink at this retreat near Senses Spa and Salon. Fresh fruit and vegetables give their all for these nutritious protein- and vitamin-packed beverages.

This adults-only bar provides scenic views of iconic city skylines around the world. Thanks to a little Disney magic, the view out the “window” changes to a different city every fifteen minutes.

A Guest holds a strap, subway-style, in a lounge themed to the London Underground

It’s always London’s swinging ’70s at this mojo-bolstering nightclub. Pick a proper British cocktail or have a cuppa — it’s up to you! Adults only.

Room Service on Disney Fantasy

Most items on the Disney Fantasy’s Room Service menu are offered at no additional charge – you’ll only have to pay for a few specialty items and to tip the crew member who delivers the food to your room.

The standard room service menu usually includes soups & salads, chicken tenders, burgers & dogs, sandwiches & wraps, and hot wings.  You’ll also typically find a few flatbreads or pizzas and perhaps some pasta. Dessert is also offered — usually cookies, cake, or pie.

A favorite among repeat cruisers is the All Hands on Deck , a cheese, fruit, and crackers plate. Kids of all ages will be pleased to know you can also request a Mickey’s Premium ice cream bar – the same kind found at Disney World.

If you don’t mind coming out of pocket, you can add on specialty items such as beer, wine, canned soft drinks, deluxe coffees, juices, and pre-packaged snacks such as candies.

I personally usually skip the upcharge items and just go for the buffalo wings and perhaps a burger.

Best Bets for Each Meal on Disney Fantasy

Below are my personal picks for the best onboard dining options for each meal.

  • Primary option: Cabanas is the number one breakfast spot onboard thanks to its long hours, expansive options, and all-you-care-to-eat service style. Mornings can be rather hectic here, but there’s rarely difficulty in finding a seat.
  • Secondary option: One of the three rotational restaurants usually offers a table-service breakfast, complete with a server who will bring your food and keep your drinks refilled. The menu is a bit more limited than at Cabanas so I usually don’t go this route, but it’s definitely a much quieter option to start your day.
  • Other options: Room service is available, but I tend to steer clear of it for breakfast. Why? First, you need to order in advance via a menu card that you hang on your doorknob the night before and I usually don’t know in advance what will sound good tomorrow morning. Second and more importantly, the room service breakfast menu is extremely limited. It’s a continental sort of menu with juices, coffees, pastries, and cold cereals. All well and good, but no bacon, eggs, sausage, or oatmeal? No thank you. Though I will admit that it’s nice to be able to order coffee and a light pastry to enjoy while watching sunrise from my verandah.
  • Primary option: Like at breakfast, Cabanas is the best lunch option thanks to its wide selection. Iced jumbo shrimp and crab claws are a signature menu item most days and I usually eat my fill of them at least once during the cruise; you’ll also find freshly grilled meats, a wide variety of side items, some interesting international selections, and lots of tempting desserts.
  • Secondary option: The food service windows at Flo’s Café offer an endless supply of burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and ice cream cones. These windows are great for folks who want to spend the day by the pool without having to stray too far for a nosh. Even if you’re elsewhere on the ship, heading here is a good option due to their extended hours. More than once we’ve missed lunch hours at Cabanas and had to grab a bite here. They’re also a good choice when you have a late dinner seating but need something to hold you over.
  • Other options : ne of the three main restaurants typically serves lunch with open seating, no reservation required. Room Service is another good option, though there’s sometimes a lunch rush which can delay your food’s arrival a bit. One minor complaint, though: the cloche-covered dishes sometimes mean that my hot wings don’t arrive quite as crispy as I’d like.
  • Primary option: Your assigned rotational dining restaurant is the heart of Disney Cruise dining and shouldn’t be missed. Your dedicated service team follows you all voyage long and will likely become your favorite Crew Members onboard the ship (my wife and I made such a connection with our servers on a 2019 cruise that we still remember their names!). Add in special themed menus and other thoughtful touches, and you’ll quickly see why this is a highlight of each day onboard. We rarely skip it.
  • Secondary option: As an alternative to your pre-scheduled rotational dining restaurant, you might opt to experience Cabanas in a totally new way. Dinner at Cabanas is an entirely different experience than the free-for-all buffet-style offerings that are the mainstay of breakfast and lunch. A host seats you at your table, and a server presents you a menu featuring some of the most popular selections onboard. As I mentioned earlier, my wife and I sometimes go this route when it’s formal night at the main restaurants.
  • Other options: Many cruisers enjoy dedicating at least one night of their cruise to an adult-exclusive meal at Palo or Remy. I personally prefer the idea of going the brunch route there rather than dinner, but that’s just a personal preference. On he other end of the spectrum, you can always grab something from the quick-service windows on the pool deck, or order room service.

Off-Hours Eating and Snacking

  • Primary option: For cravings outside the main meal periods, your best bet is Flo’s Café on the pool deck. Their generous hours and snack-friendly offerings make them a great choice to tide you over between meals. Individual portions tend to be “snack sized” (perhaps 2 or 3 chicken tenders and a few fries), so you won’t spoil your dinner unless you want to.
  • Secondary option: Room Service is available 24/7, up until about 1:30 AM on the last morning of your cruise. It’s the only option for overnight snacking. I’ll occasionally order a few warm cookies and some milk at bedtime, but you can also order 4:00 AM buffalo wings with no judgement.

Disney Fantasy Pools and Water Slides

Two riders on a raft are propelled by water through elevated tubes on the AquaDuck, a water ride on some Disney cruise ships

The AquaDuck is the premier water attraction onboard the Disney Fantasy. This first-of-its kind (water coaster on a cruise ship) attraction takes its guests on a wild adventure high above the upper decks of the ship.

Guests board a raft and are propelled by jets of water through 765 feet of tubes and open-air slide segments; along the way, you’ll experience a 4-deck drop, a careening curve over the edge of the ship, and a journey through one of the iconic red smokestack funnels.

You don’t have to pay extra to ride the AquaDuck, but you will have to wait in line (sorry, no FastPass, Lightning Lane, or Genie+ here). Lines tend to be longest on Sea Days and shorter when the ship is in port. You might have the best luck if you’re willing to ride while everyone’s ashore at Castaway Cay . Riding earlier or later in the day can also help avoid crowds – just don’t forget to check the operating hours each day in the Navigator app.

To ride solo, Guests must be at least 54″ tall and at least 7 years of age. Children under the age of 7 who are at least 42″ tall and toilet-trained may ride with a companion who is at least 14 years of age.

Pools and Splash Pads

An interactive water play zone on Deck 12. Paint cans, shower heads, pop jets, and more make up the splashy atmosphere of this experimental area concocted by Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Kids can patch leaky pipes, “control” water flow to the AquaDuck, and dodge spills from the Ducky Dinghy. Ages 3+; supervision required for those under age 16.

  • Donald’s Pool

This pool offers a shallow wading area with a deeper center. This is a perfect place to enjoy Disney movies on the giant 24′ x 14′ FunnelVision screen nearby. This pool is sometimes closed during special on-deck events, covered with a retractable floor to offer more deck space.

Funnel Puddle

A shallow (approximately 1-foot deep) family friendly pool that’s far removed from the raucousness of the Donald’s and Mickey’s pools. This is the closest thing the Disney Fantasy has to a “quiet pool” that’s still open to all ages; but there’s still a small water fountain feature in the middle that kids love to splash in.

  • Mickey’s Pool & Slide

The shape alone clearly communicates this is designed for kids; The deeper zones of this still-shallow pool are shaped like the friendly face of everyone’s favorite pal, Mickey Mouse. Meanwhile, one of Mickey’s signature white gloves supports a bright yellow waterslide for kids aged 4 to 14 / height 38″ to 64″. May be closed during deck parties.

  • Nemo’s Reef

This toddler-friendly splash zone features PIXAR characters spraying water, a child-sized Mr. Ray waterslide, and more — all in a shaded, enclosed, soft-surfaced area. Ages 3 years or younger; swim diapers are required.

Water jets and Pixar characters in Nemo's Reef

  • Quiet Cove Pool

A serene oasis for those 18 and up to get away from the kids for some quiet time. There’s a three-circled pool of varying depths, lounge-style seating in the shallowest segment, a whirlpool spa, and of course plenty of adult beverages nearby.

Quiet Cove Pool and Bar

Satellite Falls Pool

One of the most unique water spaces onboard the Disney Fantasy, Satellite Falls is an adults-only wading pool that features drizzling water directly underneath one of the giant satellite domes on the ship’s upper deck.

Disney Fantasy Kids Clubs and Teen Clubs

Much of Deck 5 on the Disney Fantasy is dedicated to spaces especially designed for younger passengers (thanks in part to space saved by not having casinos onboard the ship ). Here’s a preview of the kids clubs and other youth-friendly spaces onboard the ship.

  • Disney’s Oceaneer Club

The Oceaneer Club is the primary kids activity onboard the Disney Fantasy. It’s the place where your kids will probably spend most of their time onboard.

This secure facility is accessible only to kids aged 3-10 and trained youth activities staff — but there are pre-scheduled open houses to allow parents and children to tour the location together. Inside there are tons of kid-friendly spaces and activities, and it’s all included in the cost of your Disney cruise! This amazing kids club is one of the reasons we consider Disney to be the best cruise line for children .

The Wheelhouse

Tweens and young teens (ages 11 to 14) have a space all to themselves onboard the Disney Fantasy, and it’s in one of the most exclusive spots on the entire ship: inside the iconic red smokestack funnel on Deck 13! Edge is the perfect place to relax as tweens see fit — a huge video wall, a dance floor, karaoke machines, a game room, and photo booths. The furniture can even be moved around so Guests can make the space their own. A mix of planned activities and unstructured free time keeps things interesting.

Those aged 14 to 17 have a unique indoor/outdoor space made just for them, complete with a super secret entrance! Indoors, teens will find plenty of TVs, video games, and tablets, plus dance parties, karaoke sessions, and group activities. Outside, there’s a private sundeck at the bow of the ship that’s perfect for games, splashing in one of two small pools, and sunbathing.

Disney Fantasy Entertainment and Activities

where is disney fantasy cruise ship

Given Disney’s reputation as an entertainment powerhouse, it’s no surprise that the shows and experiences onboard the Disney Fantasy are of the highest quality.

Broadway-Style Shows in the Walt Disney Theatre

Each night of your cruise, you’ll be treated to a live show in the beautiful Walt Disney Theatre. This includes at least three Broadway-style shows during your cruise, along with other additions (such as family-friendly comedians, ventriloquists, magicians, or even hypnotists) on longer voyages.

Shows are typically offered twice nightly, with times are opposite your dinner time onboard. Those with early dining will see the late show, while later diners will see the early show.

Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular

Spectacular special effects and just a little magic from the lamp bring this timeless tale to the stage with music and comedy. Marvel at the Magic Carpet and just try to figure out how Jafar transforms! You’ll also enjoy beloved songs from the film as well as a new one written just for this production.

Disney’s Believe

A true stage spectacular, featuring 300+ costumes, 200+ scenic elements, and a cast of characters assembled to help a daughter provide her hard-working father a bit of perspective on what’s truly important in life.

Frozen – A Musical Spectacular

A lively musical retelling of Anna and Elsa’s journey. Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf are all here to join in the adventure, and of course all the familiar songs are there, too.

Pirate Night / Pirates in the Caribbean Deck Party with Fireworks

Pirate night starts with the delivery of pirate bandanas to your stateroom – then the party moves to your scheduled dining location for the evening, where a special themed menu awaits. Then, head up to the pool deck for a raucous show with high-flying pirates including favorite Disney characters. Finally, the grand finale (and another Disney innovation) – fireworks at sea!

Note: not every itinerary offers a pirate night, and fireworks may be canceled due to weather.

Sailing Away Deck Party

The official start to your cruise on the Disney Fantasy. Your vacation begins when the ship’s horn plays those familiar notes and confetti rains down from the upper decks. Captain Mickey and all his pals are there to join the fun to ensure your trip gets off to a great, high-energy start.

Disney Movies in the Buena Vista Theatre

First-run and classic Disney, LucasFilm, Marvel, and PIXAR films are shown all day long inside the Buena Vista Theatre. Every show is completely free — you don’t even need a ticket! Just check the Navigator app or signs outside the theatre for showtimes, then head inside to find a seat.

This is honestly one of my wife’s favorite things to do onboard the ship. It’s a great way to catch up with films she might have missed throughout the year, or to re-watch one that we haven’t ever seen on a true big screen.

If you find yourself sailing during the premiere of a highly-anticipated Disney film, you don’t have to worry missing out. It’ll be shown practically non-stop in the Buena Vista Theatre, likely following a huge “PremEAR at Sea” showing in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Goofy Golf and Sports Deck

If you prefer your entertainment to be a bit more active, there’s plenty of great recreation to be had on Goofy’s Sports Deck , located on Deck 13 aft.

One of my absolute favorite things to do onboard the Disney Fantasy is to play a round of Goofy Golf. The nine-hole course features plenty of terrible puns, which is right on par (see?) with my terrible sense of humor. It’s completely free to play and you don’t need to reserve a tee time. Just grab a putter and a goofball, er, golf ball — and perhaps a scorecard/pencil if you insist on keeping things official. More hard-core mini-golfers will appreciate that each hole offers two tee locations — one just for fun and one for a slightly more challenging experience.

A miniature golf course hole, complete with silly additions such as an octopus in a bucket of water

Elsewhere on the sports deck, you’ll find other, more mainstream pursuits, such as a basketball court and even a digital sports simulator (fees apply).

Down on deck 4, you’ll also find shuffleboard courts — a classic cruise activity.

If it’s your first time on the Disney Fantasy, I highly suggest setting aside some time on the first few days of your cruise to play the Midship Detective Agency activity that’s offered onboard. Not only is it tons of fun, but it’ll also send you all over the ship — a great way to get your bearings and discover things you might have missed otherwise.

Your adventure starts on Deck 5, where you’ll visit a kiosk to pick up a “badge,” a deck plan / casebook, and instructions on where to find your first clue.

This extensive activity has you seeking out more than 20 interactive artwork displays to find clues and stolen items. Thanks to random gameplay events and “choose your own adventure” dilemmas, it’s easy to play this over and over without getting bored.

A family displays their detective badge to an interactive piece of artwork as part of the game

Depending on the agency’s caseload, you might help Mickey and pals recover some stolen paintings, try to find 99 missing Dalmatians, or follow Pepe the King Prawn’s clues to solve a zany Muppet mystery. The Muppet case is my favorite! See if you can find Pepe the King Prawn’s stateroom door on Deck 5.

Don’t have a ton of time to commit? No worries. Your detective badge tracks your progress, so you can play at your own pace, starting and stopping as you like.

Disney Fantasy Spas and Salons

Disney Fantasy offers a full-service spa onboard the ship, featuring many other health and wellness services.

Senses Spa and Salon

Pamper yourself with spa treatments, salon services, and rejuvenation procedures at this restful retreat onboard Disney Fantasy. Some of the services offered at the spa include Swedish massages, aroma stone therapy, deep tissue massage, acupuncture, facials, teeth whitening, shampoo/cut/style, manicures, pedicures, and more. Even those who aren’t into spa treatments might still be interested in enjoying the Rainforest Room with its various themed shower settings. Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, showers, lockers, sandals, and robes round out the offerings. While prices are higher than at spas on land, many repeat cruisers feel that Senses Spa is worth the added expense .

Exclusively for guests aged 13-17, this special area of Senses offers treatments to teens. A parent or guardian must accompany the teen for the duration of the treatment ( solo and combined treatments are offered as an option).

  • Fitness Center

Perhaps you’re a regular exerciser, or maybe you just want to offset several days of all-you-can-eat meals. Either way, you can stay in shape with the offerings at the Disney Fantasy’s onboard fitness center. Whatever your preferred equipment — weight machines, cardio equipment, ellipticals, treadmills, and others — you’re likely to find it here. If you prefer a group experience you can join a yoga, Pilates, or aerobics class. Or, opt for personalized one-on-one training and analysis with a professional trainer.

  • Walking/Jogging Track

I enjoy a nice walk after dinner, so I appreciate that the Disney Fantasy offers an open-air covered walking/jogging track on Deck 4. I like that it’s low enough on the ship to offer some close-up ocean views — especially handy if you’re lucky enough to see wildlife such as dolphins playing alongside the ship. A leisurely stroll is perfectly fine, but jogging is also fair game here if you don’t want to miss your daily run while onboard. You might even recognize off-duty Crew Members getting a bit of exercise.

About the Disney Fantasy

One year after the maiden voyage of the Disney Dream , her twin sister, the Disney Fantasy set sail on March 31, 2012, joining the Disney Cruise Line fleet of ships (including Disney  Magic and the Disney Wonder) .

Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship: Minnie Mouse Statue

How Big is the Disney Fantasy?

Over 130,000 tons in weight, the Disney Fantasy is 1115 feet long from bow to stern. The ship was made to be the twin sister of the  Disney Dream.

CAPACITY Passengers: 4000 Staterooms: 1250 Crew (aka "Cast Members"): 1400

The Crew-to-Passenger ratio equals out to one Cast Member for every 2.8 guests!

Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

  • The Disney Fantasy is 1,115 feet which is longer than the height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and longer than the height of New York City’s famous Chrysler Building
  • The interior is decorated in art nouveau style, characterized by geometric designs and bold, solid colors
  • Each of the 4 DCL ships has a unique statue in their atrium lobby. Disney Fantasy's Statue is Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse
  • Mariah Carey is the Godmother of the Disney Fantasy
  • Disney was granted special permission by the U.S. Coast Guard to paint its lifeboats yellow – rather than the traditional regulation color of orange – to preserve the Mickey Mouse color palette of red, yellow and black
  • Staterooms are 25% larger than the current industry average
  • On the carpet in the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream stateroom corridors, a ship’s wheel encompasses a map of the world and nautical flags spell out the name of the ship
  • The stern (back end of the ship) features Dumbo and Timothy
  • The bow (front end of the ship) features Sorcerer Mickey

Want the Disney Fantasy Map?

Is that included, disney fantasy dining, main dining, about disney fantasy restaurants.

Like the other ships in the DCL fleet, the Disney Fantasy features "Rotational Dining."

To mix up your dinner dining enjoyment, guests rotate between three main restaurants, offering a  unique dining experience every night. Your server, assistant server and the rest of dinner staff will move with you.

Here are the Disney Fantasy restaurants that are part of the rotational dining.

Enchanted Garden Restaurant on Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

Image: Disney Cruise Line

Enchanted Garden

Enjoy dinner in a backdrop that simulates a French conservatory. During the meal, the ceiling changes colors, starting with a vibrant blue color to serve as daytime, transforming to a golden red color to mimic the setting sun, finally finishing in a brilliant night sky full of starlight.

The light fixtures in the dining room will "bloom" during your meal. It's the subtle effects of this dining room that make it so delightful.

Royal Court Restaurant on Disney Dream Cruise Ship

Royal Court

Dining in the Royal Court places you smack in the middle of a Disney fairytale.

The room's design showcases the classic settings of films such as Snow White , Sleeping Beauty , and Beauty and the Beast.

The wall murals are opulent, classic, and gorgeous. Take some time to gaze at each one.

Disney Fantasy Animator's Palate

Animator's Palate

My favorite interactive dining experience of all Disney themed dining rooms takes place here in Animator's Palate. Disney animations come to life before your eyes. We won't reveal too much of the secret sauce here, but check out my Animator's Palate tips here - make sure to read tips #43-46.

Casual Dining

Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship Cabanas Buffet

Cabanas is the main buffet restaurant. It tends to be the most highly visited place to eat because of the flexibility in schedule (you can eat pretty much whenever you want) but there is usually plenty of capacity. Cabanas serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (in case you'd like to skip your rotational dining or you're late to the Main Dining seating). Entrees, appetizers, salads, snacks, and desserts of so many varieties are available. Some offerings will change from meal to meal, while others are regular mainstays on the menu. If you find a favorite dish, (Mickey Mouse pancakes anyone?) this can be a nice go-to option for finicky eaters, especially your little ones.

Disney Fantasy Preludes

EYE SCREAM TREATS

Disney Fantasy Frozone Smoothies

FROZONE TREATS

Disney Fantasy Flo's Cafe

If you don't want to wander too far from the pool, these three foods stations are covered with shade and serve pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets, and chips.

Disney Fantasy Senses Juice Bar

SENSES JUICE BAR

Just like its name implies, purchase fruit & vegetable juice combinations. Found next to Senses Spa and Salon.  Additional fees apply.

Disney Fantasy Sweet on You

SWEET ON YOU

Premium ice cream, decadent milkshakes and hand-crafted gelato are highlights of this "sweet shop" that is themed after Mickey and Minnie Mouse shorts. Additional charges apply for the goodies sold here.

Disney Fantasy Beverage Station

BEVERAGE STATION

The drinks here are FREE. Your options include water, soda, juices, coffee, tea, milk, fruit punch, lemonade, and hot cocoa.

The bars and lounges on board will charge you for sodas, but it is free here. Check out tip #48 on my Disney Cruise Tips to enjoy more free soda.

Disney Fantasy Room Service Menu

ROOM SERVICE

Brought to your stateroom

Disney Fantasy's room service menu is impressive. It is almost completely free, and options available at any time of the night or day.

To get more advice about room service, read tips 54-59 of my 101 Disney Cruise Tips .

Exclusive Dining

Looking for an adult only meal? Or something that will make your little one beam for days on end? The Disney Fantasy offers exclusive dining opportunities to fulfill those wishes.

Palo Restaurant on Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

Image: Brownie Bites

This is a signature Disney dining  experience and it is available only for adults.

In our opinion, the Northern Italian menu is worth the premium fee you pay for it. When you top off the delicious kids-free meal with gorgeous seascapes, you have a brunch or dinner to remember.

Reservations are required and there's a dress code as well, please  refer to our Disney Cruise packing list for suggestions on what to wear.

Remy Restaurant on Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

This is the Disney Fantasy's finest dining experience and it is available only for adults.

Dinner at this Parisian themed restaurant is made up of multiple tasting courses. Remy also offers a champagne brunch, a 5-course dessert menu, and Petites Assiettes de Remy featuring small plates and fine wine (only available on the first night of your cruise).

As with Palo, reservations are required and the dress code is mandatory.  Refer to our Disney Cruise packing list for clothing suggestions.

Royal Court Royal Tea on Disney Fantasy

Royal Court Royal Tea

Deck 3 at Royal Court

Little princes or princesses (3 to 12) can join their favorite Disney characters for a tea party. While this tea party has an additional fee, it includes a chance to meet one-on-one with the princesses and take home a few royal gifts.

DISNEY FANTASY ENTERTAINMENT

Every evening on the Disney Fantasy, an exciting entertainment event will be put on in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Guests get to witness performances that are truly Broadway-level in quality. Also frequenting the stage are musicians, jugglers, ventriloquists, hypnotists, or comedians. Sometimes they put up a feature movie on a massive screen. The movie is usually a Disney-owned film that is new or due to theaters.

The Walt Disney Theatre is located on Decks 3 and 4 Forward.

Aladdin the Musical on Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

Aladdin - a Musical Spectacular

The classic songs and scenes of Disney's adored  Aladdin come to life on the stage in the Walt Disney Theatre on every  Disney Fantasy voyage.

Frozen the Musical on Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

This Fall: Frozen, A Musical Spectacular

On October 26, the Fantasy will enjoy showings of the theatrical production of Frozen. Coincides perfectly with the release of the movie "Frozen 2."

Note: some sailings (like some Alaska) don't do the fireworks.

Disney Fantasy: Funnel Vision

Funnel Vision

Funnel Vision is a giant screen that shows Disney movies while you chill on Deck 9 or swim in Goofy’s Pool.

Called “Funnel Vision” because it’s mounted onto the forward funnel of the ship.

It's a huge LED screen, totally state of the art.

DISNEY FANTASY POOLS

Goofy Pool on Disney Fantasy

Mickey's Pool & Slide

Shaped like a Mickey head, this freshwater kids pool is just 2 feet deep, making it a safe place for little ones (ages 3 and up) to splash.

Close by is spiraling Mickey's slide. The slide is approximately "one deck tall" and is available to kids 4-14 years old and in the range of 38"-64" tall.

Donald's Pool on Disney Fantasy

Donald's Pool

Rectangular in shape, Donald's pool sits directly in front of the big Funnel Vision screen. It will be a busy hub on days at sea, with deck chairs surrounding it.

AquaDuck on Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

Truly a Disney innovation, the AquaDuck was the first "roller coaster at sea".

To ride, start at Deck 12, climb a flight of stairs to Deck 16 (the highest point you can reach on the ship.)

Sit down in an inflatable plastic raft and get launched for a wet ride through a 765-foot-long clear tube track that will have you circle the ship.

Single riders must be at least 54" tall, but children that are 42" tall can ride with someone ages 14 and up.

DISNEY FANTASY CONCIERGE

Concierge lounge.

Concierge guests will enjoy this luxurious, chic escape from the rest of the ship.

The Concierge Level Lounge allows guests to access the internet, drink a cocktail, watch news or sports on a huge TV, and partake of complimentary beverages and food served throughout the day.

The Concierge staff is always here to answer any questions or provide additional personal assistance with anything you need.

Concierge Sundeck

Connected to the Concierge Lounge, you'll find a sundeck available only to Concierge level guests.

Head up a short flight of stairs from the Lounge and you'll find a premium sunbathing location unavailable to the rest of your shipmates. Perched above the Quiet Cove Pool, it's a quiet area for sunning and relaxing.

It has plenty of shade if you want or sun if you prefer in comfortable chairs. You can also step out onto Satellite Falls if desired, and simply pop back into the private area with your badge. If you want a quick snack, just walk the steps down to the Lounge.

Towels and sunscreen are provided.

OTHER ONBOARD SERVICES

Health center.

The Health Center is available when you're feeling sick, need first aid or have a medical emergency.

The clinic keeps regular daily hours to offer care for non-emergencies. If you have an emergency, the ship has a doctor and nurse on call 24/7.

Tender Lobbies

Guest services.

Got a question or request? This is your place. I have found the crew that manages Guest Services to be very responsive and caring.

They can help you make spa appointments or dining reservations, plan your vacation by explaining activities, ship amenities, and the ship schedule.

Questions with your bill are handled here. You may also request a free crib or diaper genie here. Book these when you first arrive to make sure you get one.

Port Adventures Desk

Onboard sales desk.

Plan and book future Disney Cruises. Why would you book a Disney cruise while on a Disney cruise, you ask? You’d be surprised by how many people do!

It’s all about the perks. It’s pretty much the only way to get a Disney cruise for a discounted price.

Here’s the low down:

  • 10% discount on prevailing rates on your next cruise (concierge-level excluded)
  • Stateroom credit of $100 (3-6 nights) or $200 (7-night cruises or longer)
  • Reduced deposit on 7-night sailings or longer

You don’t have to decide on a date while on the ship. Just put a $250 deposit down as a placeholder for a future cruise and sail within the next 24 months.

All About the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ultimate Guide

All About the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ultimate Guide

Sailing on a Disney Cruise is one of the easiest vacations to take. With food, entertainment, and more included, you simply need to show up and have fun. And if you’re sailing on the Disney Fantasy, it’s easier than you think. With an easy boat layout, pre-planned activities, and scheduled dinners and entertainment, here’s everything you need to know about the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship.

Disney Fantasy Welcome Party on board

As with all Disney Cruise Line Ships , from the second you step onboard, you feel transported to a different time and place. As such it comes as no surprise that the Disney Fantasy brings you into a fantasyland. With gilded arches, an elegant colored chandelier, and all that glitters, showcasing the ocean beyond, it’s very much like a fairytale. And when Disney asked “Fantasy” songstress, Mariah Carey to be the godmother of the ship, it seemed the perfect fit! Why not add as much elegance, magic, fairytale, and fantasy as you can?

The Disney Fantasy is beyond beautiful. Gorgeous details can be found around every corner. From the hidden Mickeys in the theater to Pepe’s Door and the flags on the carpet that spell out the ship’s name. Hidden treasures, spaces, and interactive paintings are all part of this ship’s magic.

Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship sailed her maiden voyage in 2012, just one year after her “sister ship”, the Disney Dream. The theme of the Disney Fantasy is art nouveau featuring a Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse statue in the Lobby.

What Character is on the Bow of the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship?

While hardly seen when at the port, Sorcerer Mickey, from Fantasia (1940) can be found on the bow of the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship.

What Character is on the Stern of the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship?

Dumbo and Timothy from the Disney classic Dumbo (1941) appear on the stern of the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship.

Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship Guide

How Big is the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship?

As one of the larger ships in the Disney Cruise Line Ship Fleet , the Disney Fantasy holds 4000 passengers and has a total of 14 decks. Staterooms on the Disney Fantasy are 25% larger than the current cruise ship industry average. And the roomier space was something we definitely noticed while on board this ship. The Fantasy’s sister ship, Disney Dream , has the same layout, and size, while the Disney Wish Cruise Ship is slightly bigger.

Disney Fantasy Elevators

Where is Everything on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship?

One of the toughest parts of any Disney Cruise Vacation is taking the time to learn the ship. And on shorter excursions, like 3 or 4 days, it’s almost impossible to learn the layout and still have time to enjoy it.

Disney Fantasy Atrium Lobby

Featuring Mademoiselle Minnie as the lobby statue on the Disney Fantasy, this atrium is decked out in Art Nouveau delights. Complete with swirling peacock designs, and blue, green, and pink designs. As one of the larger Disney Cruise Ships , you really feel the grandeur of this place. Even walking up the main staircase feels like a treat. This area on the Fantasy is host to the Royal Princess Gathering , and special performers throughout the cruise.

Disney Fantasy Staterooms

The types of staterooms included in the Disney Fantasy are Concierge, Verandah, Oceanview, and Inside. All of these can sleep 3-4 people comfortably and include a queen-size bed, and sleeper sofa. The larger rooms can sleep up to 5 people with a pull-down bunk and Murphy bed that comes down from the wall. Concierge rooms have more space and bed configurations, depending on your room choice.

In addition to the basics, additional amenities like plenty of drawer and closet space, a safe, laundry bag, towels, toiletries, and a first aid kit were all included. Overall the layout of this room is fantastic. A floor-to-ceiling curtain splits the room between the queen bed and the sleeper sofa for extra privacy. There is a sink in both the restroom and shower room, making it easy for guests to get ready in the mornings. This is a Disney Cruise Line exclusive design, and we love the convenience that it adds.

Disney Cruise Line Disney Fantasy

Inside Stateroom, Porthole, or Verandah?

A big question to consider on any Disney Cruise is what kind of Disney Cruise stateroom you need. And since prices vary across all of these room types, it’s good to get an idea of what they each offer so you can make your best choice. Mind you, we’re not including concierge, or suites simply because we haven’t yet stayed in either. And it pays to consider that you may need one kind of room for a warm-weather cruise while choosing another for a cold-weather cruise. Similarly, your room preference may change depending on the length of your cruise. What may be okay for a 4-night cruise, may not work for a 14-day Transatlantic cruise.

Inside Staterooms

Inside staterooms onboard, the Disney Fantasy and the Disney Dream offer something called a Magical Porthole with real-time views of the water and waves outside as well as fun appearances from Disney characters. If you and your family are fine with a digital window, these rooms are the cheapest onboard, while still offering all the amenities of the outside staterooms.

Oceanview Staterooms

Oceanview Staterooms come with a variety of porthole options; Obstructed, Two Small Portholes, or One Large Porthole. The obstructed porthole room just means that there may be a pole or part of the ship in front of your oceanview window. If you’re not in your room a lot, or during daylight hours, this may not be an issue for you. Rooms with two small portholes offer views of the water, however, the windows are definitely quite small.  Rooms with one large porthole often have a window seat built-in and give you a great view of the scenery. Perfect for gazing out the window.

Verandah Staterooms

Verandah Rooms include a balcony with seating that overlooks the water and are a dream on cruises with a view but do cost significantly more. And may not be the best bet for families with small children. We have had a verandah on the Disney Fantasy, and they are lovely, but so much of what you see from your room is dependent upon which side of the boat your room is on, and which side of the port is prettiest. If you’re sailing to Disney’s Castaway Cay, Starboard Side is the best side to be on.

Disney Cruise Line Disney Fantasy

Disney Cruise Room Host and Towel Friends

One of our favorite parts of any Disney Cruise is getting to know the Cast Members. And there are a few of whom you will see daily and who will truly be there for you the whole time! Your room host is one of those people. Room hosts tend to your room and learn your “schedule” so they can time room cleaning, and turn down service. They learn your names, leave chocolates and make you towel friends to greet you when you return to your cabin each evening. If we could take these folks home with us, we would. They are wonderful human beings there to make your life easier. Disney Cruise line typically has 1 cast member for every 2.5 passengers, there to help you however they can.

Disney Cruise Good Morning Show

Shown daily on your stateroom television, you can see your Cruise Director and Assistant Director review the day’s happenings, tips, and more in this 15-minute show. Frankly, this is one of our favorite things about a Disney Cruise! Of course, it could just be because we’ve had fabulous directors like Darren and Antony, who are so fun to watch. This happy show is a great way to start your day in the know. It starts as early as 6 am and is easy to turn on while everyone is getting ready. This show also shares tips on Port days so that you can get all the details on debarkation and when you need to be back on board.

Disney Fantasy Mural

Disney Fantasy Activities Onboard

As with all Disney Cruise Line Activities, you MUST have the Disney Cruise App on your phone so you can get access to the Disney Navigator. This section of the app allows you to do your favorite activities, be alerted of event times, and see what is happening across the boat each day of your cruise. The Disney Cruise App also shows you Restaurant Menus and Port Excursions. So it is a MUST-HAVE when onboard the ship. You can only get access to the Disney Navigator once you are onboard. At which point you Turn On Airplane Mode, and Connect to the Disney Cruise Line Guest Wi-Fi . Once that has been done you can open the Disney Cruise App and see your options.

Disney Cruise Fantasy Atrium

Disney Fantasy Kids Clubs

If you’re bringing the kid’s on your Disney Cruise, then there is plenty for them to do. Not only as part of the family activities but also as special things they can tackle alone. Often a much-needed break for parents, Disney Cruise offers Kid’s Clubs that cater to different age groups that help kids meet new friends, make crafts, play games, and more. Kid’s Clubs offer Open Houses on the first day onboard the ship, so kids can check in and get access. Be sure to check out the Disney Navigator App for times to visit the clubs and get your child set up. And download the My Disney Cruise Adventure Booklet to get your child ready for all that’s in store. Here are the kid’s clubs you can find on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship.

“it’s a small world” nursery

If you need childcare on your cruise you can reserve time at the “It’s a small world” nursery. This care place is filled with activities and fun to keep your little one occupied and safe while you enjoy other things onboard. Read More about the Disney Cruise Nursery.

Disney Oceaneer Club and Lab | Ages 3-12

The Oceaneer Club offers up play areas with slides, games, crafts, and more. On the Disney Fantasy the Oceaneer Club includes magical “lands” to explore that inform the activities throughout the cruise.

  • Andy’s Room: Featuring a Slinky Dog slide, this space includes Woody and Jesse for some wild west rollicking fun.
  • Marvel Super Hero Academy: Offering a space that allows for arts, crafts, games, and video games, this S.H.I.E.L.D. facility shows off cool tech and weaponry wielded by our favorite superheroes.
  • Star Wars Command Post: This training camp features Jedi or X-wing pilots, and you can connect to an interactive holotable to combat the first order!
  • Pixie Hollow: Join Tinkerbell and friends for dress-up, crafts, games, and stories in a gorgeous fanciful forest setting.
  • Puzzle Playtime with Mickey and Friends: At select times throughout your cruise, Mickey himself may pop by to play games and have fun. Check the Disney Navigator App for details, once onboard.
  • Woody’s Round-Up: Join Woody in your best cowboy garb for fun, games, dancing, storytelling, and singing. Check the Disney Navigator App for details, once onboard.
  • Doctor Strange Defy the Dark Dimensions: Join Doctor Strange for lessons in the Mystic Arts. Check the Disney Navigator App for details, once onboard.

Edge | Ages 11-14

Let your tween chart their own destiny in this Disney Cruise Club for tweens. Edge offers up a place to watch movies, play games, get creative, and make new friends. Equipped with all the tech, TVs, and video games you need to have fun if your tween wants to take part. Located inside the Forward Funnel on Deck 13. Edge Hours are 10:00 am- 1:00 am.

Vibe | Ages 14- 17

This lounge space for teens is perfect for hanging out, having fun, and even making smoothies.  Teens 14-17 will have plenty to do if they’re ready to make friends and take part. Vibe features a coffee bar, and a wide selection of nonalcoholic beverages to keep them going all day and offers counselors on hand to oversee the fun. On the Disney Fantasy, Vibe is decorated like a high-tech media room, with moveable modular furniture and an outdoor sundeck. Activities include karaoke, games, video games, dance parties, and more group activities. Vibe Hours are 10:00 am- 1:00 am

1820 Society | Ages 18-20

Rather underground, the 1820 Society offers young cruisers aged 18-20 the opportunity to get together for activities. While not heavily published and with no designated space, this group’s meet-ups are often available on the Disney Navigator App. Lead by a single cast member, activities like photo scavenger hunts, or meet-ups at the Lounges during the day are all on the menu for this group. Trivia, Karaoke, Games, and Silent Disco are also offered throughout the cruise to keep these young adults involved. If sailing to Castaway Cay the group also takes part in group activities like biking, and volleyball. Be on the lookout in the app for times to meet up, and check with a Cast Member once onboard for details on registering.

Disney Cruise Line Disney Fantasy

Disney Fantasy Entertainment

If you’ve ever been on a Disney Cruise you know that the entertainment onboard is top-notch! From Broadway-style entertainment to evening performers, games, and activities, there is no shortage of fun things to do!

Sail Away Party on Disney Cruise

Sailing Away Deck Party

This on-deck party takes place as soon as you Sail Away! While the time sometimes varies, be sure to check out the Disney Navigator in the app for the exact time to be on deck to watch the show. On the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship the Sail Away Deck Party happens on Deck 11, but you can see the show from the balcony on Deck 12 if you can find a spot to stand and watch. This show features Mickey and Friends and Cruise Cast Members dancing and singing to help get you into the mood for your best Disney Cruise Ever. This is also a great time to grab the Drink of the Day, or your first ice cream cone from Eye Scream treats, also on Deck 11.

Pirate Night on Disney Fantasy

Pirate Night

Disney Cruise Line Pirate Night is a mainstay on many Disney cruises sailing to the Caribbean and a must-do no matter your age! In fact, with Pirate-themed everything on the day of the party, it’s hard to avoid! Mickey and Friends all don their Pirate best and pose for pictures. And everyone (EVERYONE) gets dressed up as a pirate for dinner to be ready for the party. This evening event takes place close to 10 or 10:30 pm so definitely late for the little ones. But never fear, there are other pirate events happening a little earlier if you need to skip this late-night party. So what is Pirate Night on a Disney Cruise?

Basically, it’s a reason to dress up, sing some sea shanties, and catch Mickey and Friends in their pirate costumes. This is also the evening event where Disney Cruise sets off their famous Fireworks at Sea! So, if you’re looking for extra fun, be sure to take the time and head to Deck 11 for the Pirate Night party on the FunnelVision deck.

Performers on a Disney Cruise

One of the best parts of any Disney Cruise is the bonus of getting to see live performances from visiting musicians and performers. While these performances are on the schedule in the My Disney Experience app, you will also see these performances as a treat on your way to dinner. Especially as most of the performers do take the main stage in the lobby throughout the cruise, and are hard to miss! That said, you can also catch more private performances in any of the Disney Lounges throughout the boat if you’re looking for something special. We were thrilled to see Matt Grinke, from the Happiest Big Band on Earth, on our cruise. And got the surprise bonus of Matt leading Disney Tunes Trivia as well!

Games, Trivia, Bingo, Tastings, and More

Just like all Disney Cruises, the Disney Fantasy features a variety of fun activities you can do throughout the day. Players of Bingo can tackle the Bingo cards almost daily for a chance to win prizes and money. Meanwhile, there are other activities all over the boat, including a variety of Disney Trivia events, Towel Friends Classes, the Anyone Can Cook series, and more. But maybe making your own apple strudel sounds like a chore. Perhaps, just aim for a wine tasting instead. The liqueur-based activities are for an additional fee, but for the most part, activities are free!

Frozen Musical on the Disney Fantasy

Disney Fantasy Broadway Style Shows

Featuring Broadway Style Shows, opposite your dinner hour, a Disney Cruise offers showstopping entertainment. With classics from Disney films, to original productions featuring the themes of magic, adventure, friendship, believing, and more, these are always a treat while onboard.

Disney’s Aladdin- A Musical Spectacular

As part of any Disney Cruise, you can count on Broadway-style performances, complete with amazing stage effects, top-notch performers, and a bit of Disney magic thrown in. Disney Fantasy is currently hosting three shows, one of which is Aladdin-A Musical Spectacular. Running for about 1 hour and shown on the Walt Disney Theater Stage, guests can see these shows opposite their dinner seating time. This Aladdin production was fantastic. Expert performers, surprising visual effects, and a beautiful set design made this show worth the watch.

Frozen- A Musical Spectacular

Another show currently running on the Disney Fantasy is Frozen- A Musical Spectacular. Complete with magical costume changes, and familiar songs, this show incorporated stunning visual effects and set design to make it feel like Broadway. Worth the watch simply for the extremely talented performers, these cast members headline all three shows on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship.

Disney’s Believe

The third show to be seen is Disney’s Believe, which is also shown on the Disney Dream. This storyline does get tweaked every once in a while, the main characters typically stay the same. This is the story of a child named Sofia and her father, a scientist. Sofia believes in magic and her father doesn’t. Taking place on her birthday, this story finds Disney characters, led by the Genie, helping her father see the magic all around him. A wonderful lesson in the power of belief, this show helps us all have a little more faith and trust. All with the help of a little pixie dust.

Disney Fantasy Theaters

Disney Fantasy Theaters

With movie theaters on board, there is no shortage of amazing entertainment to be had. The Walt Disney Theater is where all the Broadway-style shows are performed. This two-story theater is beautifully decorated, and themed to Disney himself, and Mickey of course. The second theater onboard the Disney Fantasy is the Buena Vista Theater. This smaller theater is home to movies playing all day long onboard, including some first-run films to see during your sail.

New Release Movies

A bonus of any Disney Cruise Line vacation is the chance to see a feature film, currently in theaters, while onboard. Your movie selections will change depending on when you cruise and what Disney films are currently in theaters. But, nevertheless, it’s something we look forward to since you don’t need to pay to go to the theater!

Disney Cruise Line Disney Fantasy

FunnelVision

Another mainstay of any Disney Cruise is the ability to watch Disney movies ALL DAY LONG up on deck on the FunnelVision screen. On the Disney Fantasy, FunnelVision can be found on Deck 11, alongside Cabanas, drink stations, quick-serve restaurants, and the EyeScream cone station. Disney films like Sleeping Beauty, Wreck-it Ralph, and Pirates of the Caribbean are all part of the lineup on the big screen. Simply grab a chair, and settle in. For the most part, films run all day, with the exception of party or event times, and are a great reason to take a break and relax.

Miship detective Agency Game Disney Fantasy Game

Midship Detective Agency Game

Found on both the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, you can take on a scavenger hunt around the boat, to find interactive clues to help you solve a mystery. This game is called the Midship Detective Agency Game and is a great way to explore the ship and make the paintings come to life as you hunt down clues. There is a station located on Deck 2, right near the Enchanted Garden entrance for you to pick up your mission and get started. Check out our review of the Midship Detective Agency Game.

disney cruise line pirate night

Disney Fantasy Characters Onboard

As with any Disney Cruise, you get the chance to not only see your favorite Disney characters in the deck shows but also meet them in the halls and at photo spots. Disney characters included on the Disney Fantasy are all the ones you would expect! Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto are all part of the fun. And princesses like Tiana, Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, and Mulan show up too! You could also find Stich, Chip and Dale, Thor, and even Dr. Strange roaming the boat and available for photos. Be sure to book the Disney Princess Royal Gathering if you’re hoping to get pics of all the princesses on board.

Disney Animator's Palate Restaurant

Disney Fantasy Dining

Dining on any Disney Cruise typically requires guests to dress for dinner, at least a little. As a family cruise, basic cruise wear, or “cruise casual” is accepted of course but know that on the Disney Fantasy, there is Formal Night, Semi-Formal Night, and Pirate Night if you’re sailing on a 7-night itinerary. All of which may require some strategic packing. Be sure to check out the Disney Cruise Dining Attire for your cruise length.

The dress code is not strictly enforced for any of these themed nights. It’s your vacation and you can pretty much dress how you like. However, in general, you’ll want to avoid wearing things like swimsuits to the dining rooms.

Disney Fantasy Quick Service Restaurants

Looking for food options outside of the main dining rooms? Here’s where you can grab a quick meal or snack!

The quick-service dining family restaurant onboard the Disney Fantasy, Cabanas has several self-serve stations that are set up for breakfast and lunch. Consider this your go-to restaurant when you are just hoping for an easy and quick meal. Cabanas have a variety of foods to satisfy any palate including appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Breakfast includes basics like eggs and potatoes, while yogurt, cereal, and oatmeal bars are also open. And lunch offers a variety of options like various sources of proteins, salads and finger foods for more selective eaters.

Know that while Cabanas is open throughout the day it does close at certain times, so get familiar with the schedule once you are on board. Cabanas offers both indoor and outdoor deck seating. Pre-pandemic, Cabanas also offered a sit-down dinner option for those wishing to have a more flexible dining schedule. We haven’t seen that return to Disney Cruise Line yet, but it may in the future.

Flo’s Cafe

Another option for a quick meal can be found at Flo’s Cafe on the Disney Fantasy. This trio of counter-service restaurants offers up simple pizzas, salads, wraps, fruit, burgers, and fries. Complete with a toppings bar and plenty of seating. As (almost) all of your Disney Cruise food is included in your cruise, these mini counter service restaurants are a great option if you’re looking for a snack between meals.

Other Places to Grab a Bite on the Disney Fantasy

In addition to the main places to get “real food”, you can also grab snacks, treats, and more at a few other places on the Disney Fantasy.

  • Preludes: The Preludes counter includes both fountain and alcoholic beverages, and popcorn for an additional cost. So if you’re hoping to grab something special on your way into the movie or show, Preludes is where you’ll get it. Located on Decks 3 and 4.
  • Senses Juice Bar: Senses Juice Bar is a specialty juice bar just next to the gym. Juices here are crafted by hand and do cost extra. This is an adult-only space.
  • Frozone Treats: This smoothie counter is located on Deck 11 and is home to specialty Dole whip and Greek yogurt-based smoothies. A great way to get in your extra nutrients. Frozone offers smoothies and dole whip for an extra cost.
  • Eye Scream Treats: This ice cream counter is home to the FREE Ice Cream cone station available on every Disney Cruise. There are a variety of soft-serve flavors here. And this counter is open all day and can be frequented as often as you like.
  • Sweet on You Sweet Shop : If you’re looking for something super-indulgent, then we have the shop for you! Sweet on You is located on Deck 11 of the Disney Fantasy and offers specialty gelato, sundaes, cupcakes and all kinds of sweets. These treats cost extra, but they’re fun if you want to splurge!

Disney Fantasy Rotational Dining Restaurants

One of Disney Cruise Line’s signature services is Rotational Dining on a Disney Cruise, which can sometimes get confusing. Guests can choose and are ultimately assigned a first or second seating. First Seating is typically around 6:00 pm and the Second Seating is around 8:15 pm. Though these times can vary 15 minutes before or after this time. Once you know your seating, you’ll simply show up at the assigned restaurant at that time every night throughout your trip. Know that the evening showtimes are also at these times. So if you have a first seating assignment, your showtime will be later, and if you have a second seating your showtime will be earlier.

The restaurants included in the rotational dining on the Disney Fantasy are Royal Court, Enchanted Garden, and Animator’s Palate. As traditional table-service restaurants, these meals here are included in your Disney Cruise Vacation Package. Gratuities for dinner service, however, are not. As such you will be charged gratuities at the end of your cruise. Note that any breakfast or lunch meal you have at these restaurants does not generate gratuities on your bill. Therefore, feel free to check these restaurants’ schedules throughout your cruise if you hope to have a table-service breakfast or lunch.

Royal Court Restaurant on Disney Cruise

Royal Court

The Royal Court Restaurant on the Disney Fantasy is similar to the Royal Palace on the Disney Dream . The spaces at Royal Court are simply decorated and honor each of the princesses. As such there are sections of the restaurant specific to our favorite Disney couples. Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Jasmine, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Ariel and Prince Eric, and Sleeping Beauty are among the murals you’ll find on the walls in each section. Check out the Disney Fantasy Royal Court Menu.

Enchanted Garden

The Enchanted Garden Restaurant also found on the Disney Dream , features an Alice in Wonderland theme set in the gardens of Versailles. Complete with flower lights that open and close throughout dinner. As an atmosphere, this restaurant feels very calm. and if you can get it, we highly recommend a table on the perimeter of the restaurant, where there is generally less hustle and bustle. There are also beautiful subtle color changes across the restaurant. Check out the Disney Fantasy Enchanted Garden Menu .

Animator’s Palate

The Animator’s Palate Restaurant can be found on the Disney Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy. And each restaurant brings a different kind of magic to your dining experience. It is one of the best Disney Cruise Restaurants and one that rightfully honors Walt Disney Animation. Frankly, we love it. On the Disney Fantasy, Animator’s Palate has a different look but brings all the interactive fun. Complete with a chat from Finding Nemo’s Crush, and a chance to draw your own animated characters. Check out the Disney Fantasy Animator’s Palate Menu.

Disney Fantasy Adult-Only Restaurants

One of the best things for Adults to do on a Disney Cruise is to make a special night out to one of the Disney Adult-Only Restaurants, and the Disney Fantasy has two. The Palo and Remy restaurants are both located on Deck 12, near the Meridian Lounge. Keep in mind these are 18+ and do have a dress code. These meals are NOT included in your Disney Cruise Package , so you must reserve them ahead of time. Guests may only book ONE dinner in advance for Palo. However, if your Palo night is the first night of your cruise, you are able to make a second reservation at either Palo or Remy on another night of your cruise.

Reservation Window for Castaway Club

  • First Time Cruiser: 75 days in advance
  • Silver: 90 days in advance
  • Gold: 105 days in advance
  • Platinum: 120 days in advance (complimentary)
  • Pearl/Concierge: 123 days in advance ( complimentary)
  • Men: dress pants or slacks and collared shirt; jacket is optional
  • Women: dress, skirt or pants with a blouse
  • Jeans may be worn if in good condition (no holes)

Adult-exclusive restaurants aboard Disney Cruise Line ships are elegant dining experiences. Guests are requested to dress in a manner consistent with the restaurant’s sophistication. Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Dress casual attire with a polished look is permitted (such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts and blouses and lifestyle shoes). Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear and sports attire is not permitted.

Remy on a Disney Cruise Adult Dining

This restaurant serves fine French fare in an atmosphere of elegance and ocean views. With gourmet selections crafted by Chef Scott Hunnel and Chef Arnaud Lallement. “Dinner begins with a complimentary “Collette,” a chilled Champagne cocktail prepared at your table.” Offering regional, fresh ingredients, langoustine, duck, elk, sablefish and Kobe beef are on the list of options. Alternatively, Remy also offers a brunch, dessert, and wine-tasting experience.  Current prices for Remy are as follows: Dinner $125 per person, Wine pairing is $230 per person, brunch is $80 per person (add an extra $30 for a Champagne pairing), and the Dessert Experience is $60 (add $25 for the wine pairing). Check out the Disney Fantasy Remy Menu .

Palo Restaurant Disney Fantasy Cruise

Palo is an Adult-Only restaurant on the Disney Fantasy featuring Northern Italian cuisine in a four-course meal. Salads, pasta, meats, and seafood are all part of the menu. Palo features Italian decor and offers ocean views and live music. It is an Adults-Only restaurant (18+) and requires reservations, and costs extra. Palo offers a prix fixe dinner at $70 per person with an option for a la carte items. Brunch is $50 per person, and you can technically order as much as you like, but it no longer includes a brunch buffet option. We loved getting Brunch at Palo , and highly recommend it for your next cruise. Check out the Disney Fantasy Palo Menu.

Disney Fantasy Cruise Meridian Lounge

Disney Fantasy Lounges and NightClubs

The Disney Fantasy Cruise is home to 11 lounges! Most of these lounges host daytime activities for families, like games, Bingo, trivia, and more. In the evenings, usually after 6 pm some of the lounges transition to adult-only ( 18+). Here are all the details for each lounge, and the themes you can find in each. We highly recommend exploring these spaces just for fun. As they are beautiful and unique.

Lounges and Bars

  • Currents . Located on Deck 13, this outdoor bar overlooks the Adult-Only pool area, with lounge spaces, and live music.
  • D Lounge : The D Lounge on the Disney Fantasy is the largest lounge, and home to Bingo, Disney Tunes Trivia and the Anyone Can Cook Series.
  • Meridian: This high-class lounge is located on Deck 12 and offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with great views of the ocean. Featuring a variety of specialty beverages, this bar also included Seedlip mocktails as well as classic cocktails like the Singapore Sling.
  • Bon Voyage: Bon Voyage is the bar nearest the Lobby and a great place to grab a drink while listening to performers, or prior to the shows.

Ooh La La Lounge Disney Fantasy

Europa Lounges on Deck 4 Aft

  • Skyline : This small bar on the Disney Fantasy features a variety of drinks, and views of a digital skyline of the world’s most famous cities.
  • La Piazza: La Piazza is decorated like an Italian-style plaza complete with merry go round styled bar. It hosts musical performances and activities throughout the day.
  • O’Gills Pub: O’Gills is a classic Irish pub, that offers up beers and drinks from the Emerald Isle. This location also is host to games, trivia, and activities throughout the day.
  • Ooh La La: This Champagne bar on the Disney Fantasy is tucked in the back of Europa, and is rather small. It is, however, decorated beautifully with lights, lush furniture, and classic French decor.
  • The Tube: Modeled after the Tube in London, this bar and nightclub really comes to life at night! With family activities held during the day, at nighttime, this area becomes adult only and hold events like karaoke, dance parties and more.

Cove Cafe Disney Fantasy Cruise Coffee Shop

Coffee Cafes

  • Cove Cafe: The Cove Cafe is an Adult-Only coffee cafe in the adult section on Deck 11. Serving up specialty coffee, pastries, and drinks, Cove Cafe also features coffee art.
  • Vista Cafe : This coffee counter offers the same menu as Cove Cafe but is open to all ages. You can also grab free pastries from the case, but the coffee here is for a charge. They offer a variety of flavored coffee options, matcha, teas, and the Moka experience.

Disney Pools on the disney Fantasy

Disney Fantasy Shops

The Disney Fantasy has several shops onboard. Mickey’s Mainsail and White Caps are the main gift shops onboard with classic Disney merchandise and Cruise-specific items available. Additional shops like Sea Treasures and Bvlgari have specialty jewelry, perfumes, and more onboard available duty-free. You can even grab the Disney Cruise Disney Dooney and Bourke bag onboard. One of the cutest shops onboard is Sweet on You, a specialty cupcake, treat, and gelato shop. Sweet on You also has prepackaged snacks and a cute photo-op area with Mickey and Minnie!

Senses Gym, Spa, and Salon Services

We like taking advantage of the seamless walking and running opportunities on Deck 4 of the Disney Fantasy, but if you’re looking for a gym experience, you can find it at Senses. Featuring treadmills, ellipticals, weights, and even classes, this gym offers a way for you to stay in shape on board. And if you’re looking for something to help you relax, the Senses Spa offers up a selection of cosmetic body and facial treatments, available for an extra charge. Check out all the services offered at the Senses Spa and Salon on the Disney Fantasy. And if you’re bringing your teen, you can let them experience Chill Spa , catering to those kids 13- 17 and offering services they’d enjoy like massages, wraps, hair care, and more.

Disney Fantasy Pools

The Disney Fantasy has a variety of pools, and water features for babies, kids, and adults. AquaDuck is the most popular water ride and sends guests through a tube that is lifted high on the perimeter of the boat deck. Other pool areas are Satellite Falls, Nemo’s Reef, Mickey’s Pool, Donald’s Pool, AquaLab, and Funnel Puddle. In addition to the main pools, the Adult Deck has a variety of hot tubs and the Quiet Cove Pool on Deck 11.

Aqua Lab on the Disney Cruise

Disney Fantasy Ports of Call

The Disney Fantasy has a few different Ports of Call, though all sailings are out of Port Canaveral, Florida. Sailing to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, as well as Disney’s Castaway Cay, here are a few ports you may see on your cruise. Be sure to check out your specific cruise and dates to see where you’re sailing.

Tortola Island British Virgin Islands

Eastern Caribbean

Generally, the “calmer’ ports available on the Disney Fantasy, are the islands in the Eastern Caribbean. These islands are mostly walkable and have small shop areas, restaurants, and beaches.

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
  • Tortola, British Virgin Islands
  • Philipsburg St. Maarten

Disney St. Thomas Skyview

Western Caribbean

The Western Caribbean ports are busier and reminiscent of Nassau, Bahamas . If visiting we’d recommend that to make the most of your trip that you book an excursion. While these do tend to take up your entire day at port, they give you some focus and will help you feel like it was a trip worth making.

  • Cozumel, Mexico
  • George Town, Grand Cayman
  • Falmouth, Jamaica

Disney Cruise St. Thomas Port

Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay is Disney’s Private Island, and luckily, is on the Disney Fantasy itinerary as a port of call for a whole day! By far one of our favorite stops on any Disney Cruise. With things like snorkeling, bike riding, and inner-tubing, there is plenty to do on your Castaway Cay day. You can also book excursion packages for boating, water bikes, and other special activities. Check out our Castaway Cay Guide to get an idea of everything you can do on the island.

Castaway Cay Disney Cruise

Castaway Cay 5K

If you’re Disney Cruise Itinerary includes a stop at Castaway Cay, then be sure to check out the Castaway Cay 5K race! This self-paced 5K brings you through the trails on Castaway Cay and is perfect for both kids and adults. You can walk or run it, and simply have to sign in at the bike rental kiosk on the island to get started. Once you complete your 5K, you can collect your Castaway Cay 5K Medal to take home. We love this as a meaningful Free Disney Cruise Souvenir, and since it’s part of an experience, one that you should proudly display! While not an official runDisney marathon race, we still loved this activity as a way to see the island and give us a bit of a challenge.

Castaway Cay 5k

Disney Fantasy Adult Things to Do

In addition to the Adult-Only Restaurants, there are plenty of things to do onboard a Disney Cruise for Adults. If you’re looking for some things to do on your Disney Cruise, here are a few of our favorites.

Adult-Only Cruise Activities ( 18+)

There are a wide variety of Disney Cruise Activities on the Disney Fantasy that was ONLY for adults ( 18+), and not necessarily because they have anything to do with alcohol! Some classes, trivia, and games were only open to adults, alongside a variety of cocktails and wine tastings.

Adult Beach Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay Serenity Bay

Once on Castaway Cay, you can head to the far beach, called Serenity Bay. This sparkling beach includes access to a bar, eatery, and stretches of beach filled with loungers and umbrellas. Notably less crowded than the family beaches, if you’re looking for a place to get away, head to Serenity Bay.

Drink of the Day on a Disney Cruise

Disney Cruise Drink of the Day

One of our favorite things on any Disney Cruise is checking out the Drinks of the Day. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available, and they usually include something fruity and fun! You can check the selections each day in your Disney Cruise app and grab these drinks at any bar counter. We also loved that they shared the ingredients in the descriptions so that we can make Disney Cruise Drinks at home too! And if you’re sailing in cold weather, check out one of our favorite Disney Cruise cocktails from the Very Merrytime Cruise , the  Disney Cruise Christmas Cookie Cocktails . Yum!

Adult Deck on a Disney Fantasy Cruise

The adult deck on a Disney Cruise is reserved for adults 18+ and fills up fast! While this deck is smaller, it still has a few bars, lots of loungers, and pools in which to hang out. There are plenty of places to hang out in this area, so be sure to check out deck 12 for more seating options. There is a small section for smokers up there, however, most of the area is smoke free and there are plenty of options for seating.

Ooh La La Champagne Bar no Disney Cruise

Pixar Day at Sea on the Disney Fantasy

In the winter months, the Disney Fantasy is home to the Pixar Day at Sea. This became a new offering just recently and will be back on Disney Cruiseline for 2024. The Pixar Day at Sea is a great way to get your Pixar fix while onboard a Disney cruise ship. With special snacks, entertainment and character meet and greets, if you love Pixar, then we highly recommend checking out this themed cruise that sails in January and February.  Generally available on 7-night cruise itineraries, the Pixar Day at Sea is held on one of the sea days during your cruise.

What Pixar Characters are on the Pixar Day at Sea?

One of the best things about this themed cruise is that you can see quite a few different Pixar characters all in one place! You can expect to see characters from Toy Story, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., Inside Out, Up and more. Keep your eyes peeled because you never know who you might find roaming the Disney Fantasy!

The Disney ships are painted in Mickey Mouse-inspired colors – black hull, white superstructure, yellow trim and two giant red funnels, each with the Disney Cruise Line Mickey Mouse logo.

Disney Cruise Line was the first cruise line to have yellow lifeboats, instead of the traditional regulation orange. Disney was granted special permission from the U.S. Coast Guard to paint the lifeboats yellow, to keep with the special color theming of the ship.

Disney ships are the only cruise ships to have four captains – the ship’s captain, Captain Mickey, Captain Hook and Captain Jack Sparrow.

Offer free soft drinks any time of day or night, with a free 24/7 beverage station offering sodas, coffee, tea and water.

In a cruise industry first, most staterooms on Disney ships feature a split “bath-and-a-half” design, providing families the added convenience of a sink and tub/shower in one room and a sink and toilet in a separate room.

The ship’s horn on the Disney Fantasy is a prominent element of the “Sailing Away” deck party at the start of every cruise and is quite the musical talent. The horns are able to sound the first musical line of “When You Wish Upon a Star” as well as the second line of the song (“makes no difference who you are”) plus, several measures of “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me),” “It’s a Small World,” “Be Our Guest,” “Hi Diddle Dee Dee (An Actor’s Life for Me)” and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.”

The characters Dumbo and Timothy on the Disney Fantasy’s stern weigh in at more than 2,300 pounds. Dumbo is a little over eight feet long from head to tail with an “ear span” of seven feet. Timothy sits 2’6″ tall on Dumbo’s hat and is holding a paint brush that’s about 3’10″long. Dumbo was sculpted from large foam blocks by Walt Disney Imagineering artists in Glendale, Calif. The sculpted pieces were then shipped to Florida where Disney craftsmen and artists created him in fiberglass and paint over a frame of marine-grade stainless steel. The duo was installed in Papenburg, Germany.

The Art Nouveau-inspired chandelier on the Disney Fantasy cascades downward from a massive, illuminated stained-glass flourish on the ceiling in vibrant hues of greens and blues. The chandelier itself is more than 10 feet in diameter, a one-of-a-kind work of art evoking a peacock in stained glass and more than 60,000 clear Swarovski crystal beads.

Every Disney Cruise Line ship has an atrium lobby statue celebrating a classic Disney character. The Disney Fantasy’s bronze-cast pièce de résistance is Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse, dressed in vintage fashion with a parasol and steamer luggage at her side.

Walt Disney Imagineers elevated the AquaDuck water coaster on the Disney Fantasy in order to maximize space on the deck. And with the AquaDuck in place, they had room for their imaginations to concoct yet another family activity on the Disney Fantasy – AquaLab! This 1,800-square-foot get-wet area on Deck 12 is filled with pop jets, geysers and bubblers.

Muppet Pepe the King Prawn, who stars in the ship’s new Midship Detective Agency game, has his very own stateroom on the Disney Fantasy. Located down the hall from the youth clubs, the door to stateroom 5148 ½ is decked out with Pepe’s activity schedule, photos of his Muppet friends and notes from guests. While no one has ever actually seen the Muppet-sized door open, Pepe has not been shy bragging about the space reserved just for him.

Sips, sights and sounds of the diverse cities, countries and cultures of Europe – that’s what’s in store all in one evening and all in one place aboard the Disney Fantasy. The adult nightlife district Europa features five clubs and lounges that treat the senses to a taste of Ireland, England, France and Italy plus stunning skylines and signature cocktails inspired by Russia, Greece, Hungary and Spain.

Guests can celebrate special occasions with a one-of-a-kind toast at nightspots dedicated to “bubbly.” A special Taittinger Nocturne with Jessica Rabbit gracing the bottle is the signature bubbly in Ooh La La, the Disney Fantasy’s Champagne-themed cocktail bar.

Ahoy, mateys! Subtle nautical motif adorns Disney Cruise Line ships, including traditional maritime symbols and lettering that only the conscientious sailor can spot. For example, on the carpet in the Disney Fantasy stateroom corridors, a ship’s wheel encompasses a map of the world and nautical flags spell out the name of the ship.

At 1,115 feet, the Disney Fantasy is longer than the height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris (1,063 feet) and longer than the height of New York City’s famous Chrysler Building (1,047 feet).

A leader in family entertainment, Disney is the only cruise line to first-run feature films, including films in 3-D, with movies premiering at sea on the same day that they are released on land.

Don’t worry about getting a chill! The swimming pools on Disney ships are heated when the water temperature drops below 75 degrees. The Disney Fantasy was worth the wait! From cutting the first piece of steel on March 16, 2010, until the Maiden Voyage on March 31, 2012, it was just over two years in the making. That’s 747 days, and to get technical, that’s 17,928 hours.

About Disney Fantasy

The sleek and modern 4,000-passenger Disney Fantasy provides a fabulous and fun vacation experience for all age groups, not just kids. From the moment you step onboard, there is music and a magical feeling in the air. With many family-friendly amenities, the stunning ship is an ideal choice for your multi-generational cruise vacation. Like her sister, Disney Dream, she was designed for family cruising, with large versatile staterooms, lots of fabulous dining choices and the exceptional level of service which Disney is famous for.

Exciting amenities are offered on this beautiful ship along with its Art Nouveau design, sculptures, woodwork, paintings and meticulously placed classic and modern Disney characters. Three crystalline pools provide the perfect places to make a splash, one for kids, another one for families and an adults-only Quiet Cove Pool and Satellite Falls. Work out at the high-tech Fitness Center and unwind with fabulous treatments at the Senses Spa & Salon, for both men and women. Kids and tweens each have their own youth club area and will love the activity centers, as well as the miniature golf, virtual sports simulators and the basketball/volleyball court. Take a ride on AquaDuck, the first water coaster at sea, located at the 1,800-square-foot Aqua-Lab, an incredible waterplay area.

Delicious gourmet selections are served in the Main Dining Rooms, including the stunning Enchanted Garden where the room magically transforms from day to night during dinner, creating an unforgettable magical experience. Innovative Rotational Dining lets you enjoy a different restaurant every night of your cruise. Dine at the incredible Animator's Palate, with delicious Pacific Rim cuisine and an incredible dinner show where Disney characters come to life through animation as the walls, and the wait staff's costumes, slowly transform from black and white to brilliant color. Two fabulous restaurants are adults-exclusive, the intimate Palo, serving tantalizing Italian dishes and Remy, for gourmet French cuisine.

Staterooms were designed for families, many with convenient split bathrooms and innovations to ensure the ultimate in comfort and relaxation for guests of all ages. Spacious and contemporary with wonderful amenities, including extra storage, Disney Fantasy offers the ultimate home away from home. Perfectly configured accommodations offer such options as private verandahs, deluxe rooms with expanded space and Magical Portholes in rooms without windows. Additional features include a remote-control LCD flat screen TV, iPod Docking Station, refrigerator, hair dryer, phone with voice-mail messaging and individual climate control. Elegant Art Nouveau touches in each room are reminiscent of the glamour of the 1930s.

Spectacular entertainment is seemingly endless with musical shows, fun family deck parties and more. Enjoy fabulous Broadway-style shows starring your favorite Disney Characters in the Walt Disney Theatre and first-run 3-D movies in the Buena Vista Theatre. Explore Europa, in the evenings, an adults-only entertainment area with 5 fabulous lounges and nightclubs. During one evening on each sailing, experience the magic of a fireworks show at sea.

According to the Coast Guard, watchstanders in their San Juan sector received a request for medevac assistance Monday morning from the crew of the Disney Fantasy, which was positioned in the Atlantic Ocean, 260 nautical miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

The request was for a 35-year-old pregnant U.S. citizen who was experiencing “health complications” and required a “higher level of medical care” onshore, according to the Coast Guard.

The watchstanders then coordinated the medevac arrangements, directing a Jayhawk helicopter from the Coast Guard Air Station in Borinquen and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft from the Coast Guard Air Station in Miami to rendezvous with the cruise ship.

Once they arrived, the Jayhawk aircrew deployed a rescue swimmer onto the desk, who then prepared a basket to safely lift the woman onto the helicopter along with a doctor from the cruise ship.

The Coast Guard aircrew took the woman to Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport in San Juan, where emergency medical personnel waited to take her to a local hospital.

“Our crew was able to quickly, safely, and efficiently execute a long-range MEDEVAC for the patient to receive the higher level of care she required,” Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Todd Stephens said about the rescue. “This case demonstrates the value of good crew resource management and the capabilities of our Jayhawk helicopter.”

The Coast Guard also commended the actions of the Disney Fantasy crew in helping to get their passenger the care they needed.

“We are glad everything came together to help this passenger,”  Coast Guard Sector San Juan Operations Unit Leader  Ensign Michael Riccio said. “The competency displayed by the Disney Fantasy crew and the Coast Guard personnel and units involved made all the difference.”

Disney Cruise Line names its newest cruise ship

I t was bound to happen sometime, but Disney Cruise Line waited until its last of three new sister ships to name one Disney Destiny.

The sister ship to Disney Wish, which debuted out of Port Canaveral in 2022 and the soon-to-debut Disney Treasure arriving in Central Florida this December, the third ship in what was originally called the Trident class had its keel laying ceremony Wednesday at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

It won’t start sailing until 2025, and its home port has yet to be named, but among the details revealed for what will be the eighth ship in the cruise line’s fleet was the theme of the vessel, “Heroes & Villains.”

As such, the filigree artwork for the bow will be of Minnie Mouse wearing a superhero-style outfit complete with a cape.

The cruise line said among the characters from which it will mine features on board will be classic Disney animation films, “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”

Disney of course owns plenty of good vs. evil intellectual property including Star Wars and Marvel.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager for the cruise line, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising.”

Just like Disney Wish and Treasure, Disney Destiny will be powered by liquefied natural gas, a cleaner burning fuel that’s part of the cruise industry’s efforts to reduce emissions.

All three are the 144,000 gross-ton, 1,254-stateroom vessels but still targeting the 4,000-passenger capacity of its older ships, 2011’s Disney Dream and 2012’s Fantasy. The line’s first ships are the smaller Disney Magic that debuted in 1998 and Disney Wonder in 1999. They come in at 84,000 gross tons with 875 staterooms.

The line also is finishing construction for an Asia-bound cruise ship named Disney Adventure that will be the largest in the fleet at 208,000 gross tons.

Disney Wish became the line’s first new ship in more than a decade. It continues to do short three- and four-night Bahamas sailings while Disney Treasure will pick up seven-night trips to the Caribbean.
