Having access to an airport lounge is always more pleasant than waiting at the gate. It gives you a quiet place to relax, get some work done and enjoy a complimentary bite to eat before your flight — or even upon arrival in some cases. Depending on the lounge's setup, it can also be a great place to socially distance from others.
Gaining access to lounges is easier than you might think. Today, we're going to review everything you need to know about accessing Air Canada's network of Maple Leaf lounges. As you're going to see, there still are plenty of ways to get into these lounges without a premium cabin ticket.

Air Canada has Maple Leaf lounges in 17 airports across Canada, the U.S. and Europe, including:
- Toronto (YYZ) — Four locations, all in Terminal 1 (one for international flights, one for domestic, one for transborder and one for express)
- Montréal (YUL) — Three locations: One in the international terminal, one in the domestic terminal and one in the transborder area
- Vancouver (YVR) — Three locations: One in the international terminal, one in the domestic terminal and one in the transborder terminal
- Los Angeles (LAX) — One location in Terminal 6
- Newark (EWR) — One location in Concourse A
- New York LaGuardia (LGA) — One location in the Central Terminal Building, Concourse B on level three
- London Heathrow (LHR) — One location in Terminal 2B (Queen's Terminal) on level one
Note that Air Canada also operates Signature Suites in Toronto and Vancouver, but those are reserved exclusively for paying business class passengers on long-haul routes. However, the "Air Canada Café" in Toronto follows the same access rules as standard Maple Leaf lounges.

Usual amenities of Maple Leaf lounges include complimentary food and drinks, cell-free quiet zones, showers and business centers. However, due to the pandemic, the experience is a bit different than usual. For instance, instead of a self-serve buffet, food is now delivered straight to your table. Additionally, many lounges are temporarily closed .
For complete details on all locations, including information on which ones are currently open, you can visit this page . Regardless of which method you use to gain entry, you'll always need a same-day boarding pass for an Air Canada, Air Canada Express or a Star Alliance flight.
Credit cards
While no location participates in the Priority Pass program anymore, there are still credit cards that can grant Maple Leaf lounge privileges.
Right now, the easiest way for U.S.-based travelers to unlock Maple Leaf lounge access is with the United Club Infinite Card. The card comes with a full United Club membership for the primary cardholder, which gives you access to United Clubs and Star Alliance partner lounges, including Maple Leaf. United Club members are allowed to bring one guest when visiting partner lounges, though keep in mind that starting May 3, the guest must be traveling on the same flight as the member.

In late 2021, Air Canada and Chase will unveil a lineup of Aeroplan credit cards for U.S. residents. While details about the cards are limited, it's possible that at least one of the cards might offer Maple Leaf access as a benefit. When Aeroplan revamped its Canadian-issued credit cards in 2020, it added access to Maple Leaf Lounges in North America and the Air Canada Café to premium Aeroplan Black cardholders. Other Canadian cards offer one-time lounge passes.
Paid membership
While typically not the most cost-effective option, you can also purchase a Maple Leaf Club membership outright with cash or Aeroplan points . (Note, sales of new memberships are temporarily suspended and those memberships purchased before April 6, 2020 were extended by six months.) There are three types of memberships available:
Maple Leaf Club Canada
Members have access to all Maple Leaf lounges in Canada and Air Canada's priority check-in lines. Individual memberships cost 375 CAD (about $298) per year, while partner memberships (membership for you and your spouse) cost 550 CAD (about $437). Members are allowed to bring guests for an additional fee.
Maple Leaf Club North America Plus
Members are invited to visit over 60 lounges in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. This includes access to all 17 Maple Leaf lounges worldwide, as well as United Clubs in the U.S. Again, members have access to Air Canada's priority check-in lines. Individual memberships cost 495 CAD (about $393) per year, while partner memberships cost 730 CAD (about $580). Guests are allowed for an additional fee.
Maple Leaf Club Worldwide
This membership offers the complete package. It provides access to all Maple Leaf and Star Alliance lounges worldwide. It also allows members to bring one guest free of charge. Individual memberships cost 665 CAD (about $528) per year, while partner memberships cost 970 CAD (about $771).

Single visits
For a limited time, Air Canada is offering walk-in access to some of its Maple Leaf lounges. The day passes cost $55 per passenger and may be purchased regardless of the airline you're flying (even if it isn't a part of the Star Alliance). The following lounges are participating:
- Toronto-Pearson Airport, Terminal 1 near D gates
- Vancouver International Airport, Pier C
- Calgary International Airport, Concourse C
Elite status
All Air Canada elite members with Aeroplan 35K status or higher are entitled to some form of lounge access.
Aeroplan 35K elites enjoy unlimited access to lounges in domestic and transborder departure areas of Canadian airports (lounges in international departure areas are excluded), as well as all Maple Leaf Lounges in the U.S. Access to the Air Canada Café is excluded.
Meanwhile, Aeroplan 50K, Aeroplan 75K and Altitude Super Elite members have access to all Maple Leaf and Star Alliance partner lounges worldwide (excluding the Signature Suites). So long as you have a same-day Star Alliance boarding pass, you always have access regardless of the cabin or route your flying. You're allowed to bring your domestic partner, up to 5 dependent children, as well as one guest at no charge. Just remember that effective May 3, Star Alliance will require guests to be traveling on the same flight as the elite member.
Similarly, Star Alliance Gold members who hold status with another partner airline can use Maple Leaf lounges with any same-day Star Alliance boarding pass. One guest is allowed at no charge.
All levels of Aeroplan elite status include the opportunity to earn one-time guest passes. Aeroplan 25K elites can select guest passes as their "Select Benefits," while all other status levels include them as Core Benefits.

Ticket type
Those flying in business class or Signature Class on Air Canada are always are granted lounge access regardless of elite status or membership. Business and first-class customers traveling on a same-day flight operated by a Star Alliance member airline get access as well, but only at the airport where the eligible flight departs.
Premium Rouge customers only get complimentary access on flights within Canada, to the U.S and Sun destinations (Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean). You'll need to pay for access when flying to Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.

Bottom line
Lounge access can make all the difference when you're traveling. Luckily, Air Canada offers a variety of different ways to access its network of Maple Leaf lounges. In addition to a premium-cabin ticket, you can get in with various memberships, credit cards and forms of elite status. Ironically, for U.S.-based flyers, the most cost-effective option might be to get the United Club Infinite Card — at least until Aeroplan releases its U.S. lineup of cards.

SFO Air Canada lounge food and beverage options
Spaces to relax and work at the sfo air canada lounge, how to get into the air canada lounge at sfo, other sfo lounges to consider, is the air canada maple leaf lounge at sfo worth it.
Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounge network isn’t typically considered top-tier among airport lounges. That honor usually goes to places like the Centurion Lounges by American Express , which are often helmed by James Beard Award-affiliated chefs.
But at San Francisco International Airport, the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, which opened in summer 2023, might be the best hangout spot in the airport, period.
There, you’ll dine on a buffet of California classics like seafood cioppino, alongside international dishes like chimichurri beef sliders and chicken adobo — a nod to the Bay Area’s culture of ethnic cuisines. Plus, you can dine outside, as this is the first Maple Leaf Lounge with its own, private outdoor terrace.
Here’s what it’s like inside (and outside).
Menu items occasionally change, but here’s what we saw when we visited:
The self-service buffet starts with a salad bar, which includes your usual suspects of toppings like carrots, tomatoes, quinoa and cucumbers.
Up next are sandwiches, wraps and a cheese board.
Most hot items take their cues from San Francisco’s rich foodie culture, including local dishes like seafood cioppino. There are also fairly healthy options, such as fresh squash and chicken adobo.
The buffet supports vegetarians and carnivores alike via chimichurri beef sliders and black bean sliders.
There’s a bartender at the full bar, ready to serve wine, local craft beers, a handcrafted cocktail or espresso.
There’s also a soda fountain and coffee maker near the main buffet.
If you’re seeking something refreshing, you might hydrate with agua fresca.
The dessert options aren’t anything special, just your run-of-the-mill brownies and cookies.
The lounge itself is extensive, comfortably fitting 165 seats within its 8,168 square feet of space.
Indoor areas
Power outlets sit between deep leather seats, and counter seating lines the perimeter.
There’s also a business center with a printer and private rooms to take calls.
Outdoor terrace
The star of the lounge is the outdoor terrace, which offers runway views. Of the lounge’s 165 seats, 30 are outside.
Should it get chilly (as San Francisco often can), you can snuggle against one of two vapor fireplaces. And if you’re not seated facing the runway, you’ll get an equally-lovely view of a massive mural celebrating San Francisco.
The lounge also offers showers and heated towel racks.
The lounge is located on the second floor of Terminal 2. Upon stepping off the elevator from the main terminal to the lounge, you’ll head down a long hallway toward the entrance.
Instead of checking in at a front desk, you’ll undergo biometric identification to verify you’re eligible for admission.
Who has lounge access?
There are several ways to gain access to the 23 Maple Leaf lounges around the world, including:
Aeroplan 50K elite status or higher: Air Canada's Maple Leaf lounges are open to Air Canada customers who hold Aeroplan 50K, 75K, or Aeroplan Super Elite status in Air Canada's Aeroplan loyalty program .
Star Alliance Gold status: Air Canada customers with Star Alliance Gold status are welcome. Ways to earn Star Alliance elite status include reaching Premier Gold and above in United's elite status program , which automatically matches to Star Alliance Gold.
An Aeroplan credit card holder: Certain Aeroplan premium co-branded cards, such as the American Express Aeroplan Reserve Card , offer entry to cardholders and a one-time guest.
Flying business class: Folks flying on an Air Canada business class ticket are also invited.
The Aeroplan® Credit Card does not get you into Maple Leaf lounges on its own, though if you spend smartly, you could get a status boost to the 50K level, which unlocks access.
Aeroplan® Credit Card
One of the major perks of signing up for the Aeroplan® Credit Card is getting Aeroplan 25K elite status the rest of the calendar year you sign up, plus the entire next calendar year.
If you're a cardholder, high spender, and frequent flyer who travels enough to get to 35K, you can spend $50,000 in a calendar year to unlock the Elite Status Level Up perk and get a boost to the Aeroplan 50K elite status — which includes Maple Lounge access.
SFO has no shortage of great lounges, so if you can't get into Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounge, you have other options.
On the last day of 2022, the Centurion Lounge at SFO reopened with a redesign and expansion; it's primarily accessed by folks who hold the The Platinum Card® from American Express , no matter what airline they're flying. Its buffet menu is designed by Ravi Kapur, the Executive Chef at Liholiho Yacht Club, a popular San Francisco restaurant.
A highlight of SFO's Centurion Lounge is the Napa Valley wine tasting area. (Photo by Sally French)
Folks who frequently fly Delta — which has regular nonstop flights between SFO and Canada — might rather relax in SFO’s Delta Sky Club .
And then there are the Priority Pass network lounges, which are relatively easy to get into. The San Francisco Priority Pass lounges are generally inferior in quality to the lounges named above, but with complimentary food and beverages, they’re still better than no lounge at all. Many premium travel credit cards offer Priority Pass lounge access , including the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card . Like the Centurion Lounges, these lounges are accessible regardless of the airline you're flying.
The China Airlines Dynasty Lounge has the best food of any of SFO's Priority Pass lounges, thanks to its buffet of Chinese food. (Photo by Sally French)
San Francisco’s Air Canada lounge is the 28th to open worldwide and it’s arguably the best. Most other Air Canada lounges only offer light snacks (think soups, salad, hummus and crudites), and boast seating that looks like it might’ve once belonged in a 1980s-era insurance office.
Air Canada recently committed to improving its lounge network, and its SFO outpost proves that the airline has executed well on that commitment.
The Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge at SFO serves as an encapsulation of California. Sure, the coupling of international cuisine with patio seating does very little to put passengers in a Canadian state of mind — but that’s not a bad thing.
Assuming that Karl (that’s the local name for the Bay Area’s famous fog) hasn’t rolled in, it’s definitely worth making time to relax on the outdoor patio. There, you’ll savor those final California moments before departing for the Great White North.

Review: Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge New York LaGuardia (LGA)
I visited the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge ahead of my United Airlines flight from New York La Guardia and enjoyed a very short but sweet visit. This is a lounge worth stopping at, especially if you are hungry.
Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge New York LaGuardia Review (LGA)
While not as impressive as the beautiful new lounge at SFO, I was very pleased by the quality of this “outstation” Maple Leaf Lounge in New York City.
Access + Hours + Location
This lounge is open to all Star Alliance Gold members traveling on a Star Alliance flight (regardless of destination or cabin of service) and Star Alliance business class travelers. That alone is a huge differential between this lounge and the United Clubs located just a few paces away in the same terminal.
While United restricts MileagePlus Golds, Platinums, and 1Ks from accessing its own lounge except when traveling internationally, this same restriction does not apply to the Air Canada Lounge. So, if you are a United Gold you can access even a domestic flight in economy class. If you are flying business class on a United domestic flight, you can access the Air Canada lounge even though you would be turned away from a United Club.
The lounge is in the beautiful Terminal B Eastern Concourse and open daily from 5:15AM to 12:00AM. You can access up to three hours before your scheduled flight (does not apply to connecting itineraries or in the case of flight delays).
A really pleasant staff member greeting me at the reception desk, scanned my boarding pass, and welcomed me in. Inside, I noticed that staff were quite busy keeping the buffet clean and tables bussed, which is great appreciated.
The lounge is located on a terrace overlooking the gate area below it. There is seating centered around a buffet in the middle.
The seating stretches around a corner where there is a lot of empty space but probably not enough to make anything useful out of it.
You’ll find power ports (USB-A and 110-volt) throughout the lounge affixed to the furniture or floors.
Food + Drink
The lounge featured an impressive offering of food and drinks, including a salad bar, salted mixed nuts (the only thing I ate…but I ate a lot), rice, tofu, macaroni and cheese, roasted vegetables, sweet and sour chicken, roasted cauliflower, tomato soup, cookies, and apples.
All beverages were self-serve and the selection included beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks, tea, coffee (horrible machine that Lavazza should be ashamed to pits its name on), and water.
Clean restrooms are available, but no showers.
Business Center
Wireless pricing and copying services are available.

I wish the MLL’s within Canada itself were as nice as their “outstations” at SFO, LGA, FRA, LHR…!
“…if you are hungry.”
I thought you knew me well enough by now to know that I’m always hungry.
Visited Saturday Mar 16 11AM to 1PM. Not busy. Very clean and very nice bathroom facilities. Lunch was soup (Veg and Chick Noodle) and hot items were penne pasta, roasted Veggies, BBQ Chicken, rice, roasted Cauliflower. Adobo Tofu., nothing great but good enough. Drink selection and salad bar looks the same as in photos. No fruit and instead there were some cookies and sweets. Friendly service and well staffed; much better than MLL YYZ Domestic/Transborder.

After spending a night at the St. Regis Toronto (review here ), we stopped by one of the Maple Leaf Lounges at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) before flying home to Tampa International Airport (TPA). The lounge was extremely crowded, but we found some space for our brief visit.
Access is granted to passengers flying in Business Class, Premium Rouge, Aeroplan Super Elite, Aeroplan 75K, and Aeroplan 50K Members, Star Alliance Gold members, and Air Canada Maple Leaf Club Members. Daily passes may be purchased for $49 to $79 CAD (depending on whether you’re traveling on a Premium Economy, Latitude, Comfort, or Flex fare). Guest passes are available for $59 CAD. A same-day boarding pass is required to enter the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge.
Anthony’s Take: This Maple Leaf Lounge is used for transborder crossings into the United States. It’s extremely crowded and in need of a renovation, but it offered a decent selection of food and drinks and a good place to wait for our flight. Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) has a US Pre-Clearance facility, this means that you clear immigration prior to landing in the US and exit your flight like any other domestic one. We were through immigration quickly thanks to Global Entry and had plenty of time to spend in the lounge.
After exiting the elevators, there are desks staffed by agents to check guest credentials.
The self-serve bar area has wine, liquor, beer, and soft drinks.
Wine bottles were held in these really cool chillers.
Several beers were on tap.
A coffee machine was found near the buffet.
There were lots of seasonal add-ins next to the coffee machine.
A refrigerated case held soft drinks.
Water dispensers were found on a counter near the entrance.
Lunch/dinner was being served during our visit. The buffet several hot dishes, soup, salad ingredients, guacamole, snacks, and desserts.
Vegan Sausage Pasta
Mediterranean Chicken
Cheeseburger Sliders
Pepper Soup
Salad ingredients and guacamole
Seating & Decor
The design of the lounge is rather bland. It has lots of seating, but was packed during our visit.
More seating
This lounge offers free Wi-Fi, restrooms, magazines, and the food and beverages mentioned above.
Clocks near the entrance showed the time at several Air Canada destinations.
Overall Impression:
This lounge was fine for passing some time before our flight. the food and drinks were good and there is lots of seating. it was extremely crowded during our visit, but we had no problem finding space..

Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Toronto (International) Review
Upon entering, you’re greeted by the familiar scale model of the Air Canada Dreamliner found in other Maple Leaf Lounges. This never gets old, no matter where I see it…
Anyway, with that out of the way, the lounge itself features a large seating area wrapping around a dining area. Heading up the stairs, immediately behind the entrance is a section with some circular booths and lounge chairs along the wall. While relatively uncrowded, this area suffers from a distinct lack of power ports.
This opens up to a larger seating area. Larger, yes, but quite crowded on a mid-afternoon on a Friday.
There are a couple of semi-enclosed seating areas available (to the right in the below photo, though occupied at the time).
In the center of the lounge is a small open TV viewing area. To be honest, I never got these types of arrangements. It’s not like you can really concentrate on what’s on with all the noise around you.
I headed towards the back, and found a seat in a group of red high-backed chairs in groups of six. These seats do have ready access to power ports, and still had a handful of open seats.
Behind the high-top tables is a self-service beverage area, which made this area pretty popular.
The aforementioned beverage area features a soda fountain, beer tap, and Lavazza machine. At the time of this visit, the self-serve liquor bottles had been removed. As you can see, the soda fountain and beer tap were also shut off. If you wanted any of those items, it necessitated a visit to the dining area to get one from the attendant. However, more recent reports indicate the full selection is back.
This section also has some circular green lounge chairs to relax in.
Also back in this area is a small business center with a printer/copier. Previously, there was also a communal phone charging station here like in other Maple Leaf Lounges. However, it looks like Air Canada removed it, perhaps a casualty of the pandemic. This leads to another area of seating to the left.
Tucked away in another corner are the shower rooms. These remain locked by default, so you do need to ask the front desk for a key.
Unfortunately, while some of the seating towards the back nominally faces the ramp area, views are significantly constricted due to the window blinds. Too bad, because the ramp traffic at YYZ is quite nice. At least the windows do let in a good amount of natural light into the lounge.
This is actually a split-level lounge, so you have to head back down a level to reach the dining area.
To the left of the ramp is the main dining area, with several two-person tables both in the center and along the wall. I actually found this seating area less congested than the main lounge area, but the lack of power ports is problematic.
To the left is an overflow dining area, completely empty on this afternoon. (At the end of the hall, turn left for the reception desk, or right for the seating area.)
At the time of my visit, the dining area itself only offered some basic salty snacks, along with an attendant to provide beverages.
So how could you obtain food if feeling peckish? Air Canada rolled out an on-demand ordering system via QR code. The menu included a small selection of small meals, along with a mystery desert of the day.
After ordering, a waiter brought your selection directly to your seat. Admittedly, the presentation left much to be desired. Just a box with some code lettering noting the dish ordered…
I ordered the Montreal smoked meat sandwich. Never had one of these before, but based on some research, it looks like a reasonable facsimile of the original. It’s a sandwich of smoked brisket on rye bread with mustard. I found it reasonably tasty, though a small portion. (Of course, you can order as many as you want.)
Reports indicate that Air Canada has since brought back the buffets and discontinued the “@ la table” QR service. However, I can’t definitely confirm this one way or another. If anyone knows for certain, feel free to leave a note in the comments.
Anyway, if you continue past the dining area, there’s a quiet area in the back. There’s also some marginally better ramp views from back there, but the window shades still significantly restrict the view out.
Other reviews discuss a “private room” with restricted access. I couldn’t find it on my visit; I’m not sure if it no longer exists, or I just missed seeing it.
WiFi is free and pretty fast. I found the connection stable enough to both make a FaceTime call, and connect to all my work applications.
Final Thoughts
I agree with Live and Let’s Fly’s evaluation of the lounge as “solidly average”. There’s a variety of seating, decent WiFi, and at the time, decent food. Though I wonder how that’s changed with the switch back from a la carte options to the buffet. Also, given the level of crowding a year and a half ago, I wonder how bad it is now. Certainly, if your ticket includes access to the Signature Suite, don’t pass that up for this lounge. But it’s an OK spot to spend an hour or two before your long-haul flight. It covers the basics decently, though does nothing exceptionally.

Air Canada to Update Maple Leaf Lounges, Expand Cafés
Last week, we learned more details about some of Air Canada’s future plans for its fleet through an article posted on Executive Traveller . In the article, Air Canada’s executives hinted at some upcoming changes to lounges and other aspects of the customer-facing experience, too.
This week, Executive Traveller has published another article , in which there are more details about Air Canada’s future plans for its Maple Leaf Lounges, Signature Suites, and Air Canada Cafés.
Air Canada to Open Four New Lounges
Air Canada has revealed upcoming plans to open new lounges and to renovate and expand some of its existing Maple Leaf Lounges .
One of the most noteworthy parts of the interview is that Air Canada has plans to open four new lounges in the next few years.
The first lounge, about which there aren’t many details, is set to open in Summer 2023 in Toronto.
According to Mark Nasr, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President of Marketing and Digital, this lounge will follow a new model that hasn’t been used in any of the airline’s current lounges.
In the article, Executive Traveller reports that the lounge will have the following:
- Capacity for up to 133 guests
- A hot and cold buffet
- Grab-and-go options
- Meeting rooms
Should this new model be successful, it could be rolled out to other lounges in Air Canada’s network at some point down the line.
In some ways, it sounds quite familiar to what’s offered at the Air Canada Café in Toronto ; however, further details of this new lounge are expected in the near future, and we’ll be better able to compare them then.
Next up is a brand-new Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Terminal 2 at San Francisco International Airport. This lounge is set to open in June 2023, and will have room for over 120 guests.
Of note, the new San Francisco lounge will also feature an outdoor space, and is designed in such a way as “to feel uniquely San Francisco”.
The next lounges that are set to open are a rollout of the Air Canada Café concept to Montreal (YUL) and Vancouver (YVR) .
The first new Air Canada Café is set to open in Montreal in 2024, and then another will come to Vancouver in 2025.
Similar to the Air Canada Café in Toronto, the Montreal concept will feature barista-pulled coffee and fresh-pressed juices, as well as a number of lighter grab-and-go meals that can either be consumed in the lounge or onboard. It’s not clear whether or not the Montreal lounge will also feature craft beer, as it does in Toronto.
The Vancouver Air Canada Café is reported to have a new evolution of the concept, and will be designed as more of a “modern café coworking space”.
Air Canada reports that the Air Canada Café concept has been popular amongst travellers, and it’s great to see it being planned at other major Canadian hubs.
Air Canada to Revamp Existing Lounges
In the interview posted on Executive Traveller, Nasr also alluded to the upcoming expansion and renovation of some of Air Canada’s existing lounges.
First off, Air Canada is adding an average of 30% more seating to the existing domestic Maple Leaf Lounges in Vancouver , Toronto, and Montreal .
There have already been some reports online about furniture being moved around within the lounges, and new types of furniture being installed that caters to more guests. It’s likely that the parts of the lounges that were previously separate business centres are going to be changed to allow for more capacity.
Any increase in capacity may also help to address some of the crowding issues that travellers have faced in the recent past. Last fall, Air Canada debuted a separate line for Super Elites , which allows them to skip to the front of the line for priority access; however, other passengers are often subjected to queues during peak times at some lounges.
Air Canada is also set to increase the capacity at the Signature Suite in Toronto to allow for more guests. Since access to this lounge is restricted to paid international business class tickets (and Business Class (Flexible) Aeroplan redemptions), this likely signals that there is a strong demand for the premium lounge, and Air Canada is moving to address this.
Aside from these known expansions, Air Canada will also be renovating and expanding other lounges throughout Canada and in key international markets over the next three years or so. The only international lounge mentioned in the article is in London Heathrow; however, it’s likely that other lounges will also see a refresh.
It’s worth noting that Air Canada is expecting to begin taking delivery of its Airbus A321XLR aircraft in 2025, and as part of the rollout, there will be a new design standard reflected both onboard and throughout the ground experience.
It’s likely that lounge renovations will be in keeping with the new design, which will indicate the future direction Air Canada is going with its brand.
Air Canada plans to open four new lounges in the coming years, as well as expand some of its Canadian lounges by an average of 30% in the near future.
The first new lounges are set to open in Toronto and San Francisco this summer, and it will be interesting to see if any new elements are incorporated into their design. From there, the Air Canada Café concept will expand to Montreal and Vancouver in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
As the new lounges open, we’ll be sure to provide reviews, which may shed light on the direction Air Canada’s brand is headed in the coming years.

I’d be happy if they reopened the MLL at Newark airport. For years & years, there was a MLL at EWR terminal A for all the Air Canada flights. In January 2023 the old terminal A closed, and a new terminal A opened (AC still flies to terminal A). But, even though the new terminal A is far bigger than the old terminal A, there isn’t a MLL lounge. The only MLL in the New York area is at LaGuardia 🙁
