At Algarve Golf Tour we play stroke play competitions (gross medal) from tournament tees. Come and enjoy a competitive round on one of the Algarve's fabulous courses with the added benefit of knowing you will be amongst good players. 

Established in January 2014 we have monthly Sunday competitions and offer reduced green fees. Membership is free and restricted to those who are handicap 9 or better - you have earned this right with your dedication, determination and discipline!

The art of putting

The 2015 Jamega Algarve Pro Golf Tour began with series 3 in January at Salgados, and series 4 in February at Morgado and Alamos. In March, Castro Marim and Quinta do Vale host the next prestigious events on the Jamega Tour. Jamega is now established as an important dimension of Algarve golf and has come a long way since its humble beginnings over ten years ago. Originally the brainchild of Gary Harris and Richard Law, with the help of Tony and Sally Jones, Jamega launched in April 2004. When promoting their first tour in the Algarve, Gary and Richard met Jose Correia, President of The PGA Portugal, and from there the idea of an Algarve Pro Golf Tour was born. A question often asked is where the unusual name comes from and the answer is (quite!) simple. Gary and Richard were originally assisted by a friend called James and the Jamega name incorporates `JA’mes, `ME’ (that was Richard) and `GA’ry.

Having enjoyed ten great years, Jamega is set to further develop its position as one the leading tours for golfers aiming at a professional career. Jamega players have already progressed to the Challenge Tour, the European Tour and the Open Championship. David Howell, European Ryder Cup player and former Alfred Dunhill Links Champion speaks very highly of Jamega and stresses that it is “a great Tour to start your professional career on.” Thanks to the PGA of Portugal and the Algarve clubs who actively support Jamega, we can look forward in 2015 to more golfers reaching the professional ranks following their participation in the Jamega Tour.

Quinta do Lago has been at the forefront of international golf since its creation. Today, the resort’s three courses are among Europe’s best and are joined by world-class golf facilities such as the Paul McGinley Golf Academy and Southern Europe’s only TaylorMade Performance Centre.

NORTH COURSE

The North Course was totally redesigned in 2014, by renowned architect Beau Welling, in conjunction with former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley. The new layout has been built to the highest specifications, with an investment of €9million.

All the greens, tees, bunkers, irrigation and drainage systems and cart paths have been re-built using innovative technology. Four sets of tees have been introduced on each hole to accommodate players of all levels. Golfers are challenged by a combination of undulating greens, well-positioned bunkers and water hazards.

SOUTH course

A favourite among European Tour professionals, the South Course has been extensively renewed to further enhance the stunning backdrop of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Regularly included in Golf World magazine’s ‘Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe’, the par-72 layout has received widespread praise for its strategically placed hazards and varying difficulty across the 18 holes. Having hosted the Portuguese Open on no fewer than eight occasions, the South Course is regarded as one of Portugal’s premier golfing venues.

LARANJAL COURSE

Designed by Jorge Santana da Silva in the grounds of an orange grove, Laranjal’s par-72 course was named as Portugal’s Best Golf Course 2011 at the Portuguese Travel Awards, and poses serious tests for players of all abilities. Open since 2008, Laranjal offers a pure golfing experience right next to the Quinta do Lago estate and features fairways sown with Bermuda grass, providing a challenging playing environment in a picture-perfect setting. At 6,480 metres in length, the challenging course demands the highest level of concentration and accuracy. Its distinctive rolling terrain has been expertly designed and manicured to provide a world-class golfing experience.

Play on the Algarve Pro Golf Tour this winter

Jamega Pro Golf Tour, PGA Portugal and YourGolfTravel have combined to offer professionals and amateurs the chance to play in real professional events on the Algarve Pro Golf Tour this winter, with guaranteed pro and am prize funds from November until March 2015. All hotels are four star or better, and the courses chosen by PGA Portugal include Palmares at Lagos, Espiche, a new course, and Quinta do Vale, a Seve Ballesteros designed course on the banks of the River Guadiana.

The APGT presents an opportunity for Professionals to bring along amateurs from their club or client base. Pros can play in the events for the guaranteed prize fund, and the professional entry is limited to 50 players. The amateurs compete under the same conditions, with the PGA managing, refereeing and scoring the events, ensuring that everyone will enjoy an excellent golfing experience.

Welcome to Algarvian Charity Pro-Am.

We will play 4 fantastic golf courses: Quinta do lago North, Laranjal, Pinheros Altos and San Lorenzo.

This is a 72 hole team event and an  Individual Pro event at the same time.

In the  Pro Am  event the teams consist of 4 players (1 Pro + 3 amateurs). The score is calculated with 3/4 hcp and the best two net Stableford scores per hole.

The handicap system is counting for the team card and Pros under 50 play of +2 ,

Pros between 50 & 65 years old play of scratch and pros over 65 play of 2.

There will be 2 prize funds for the professionals i n the Individual Pro event, 72 hole stroke play.  

One for professionals 50 years & over and one for professionals under 50. 

All Pros are scratch for the individual event.

The event is open for all Professionals and amateurs (no age or hcp limit).

All players will pay  €80 at registration to boost the Pro Prize money  and donate to our chosen charity.

15 men brought to military enlistment office after mass brawl in Moscow Oblast

Local security forces brought 15 men to a military enlistment office after a mass brawl at a warehouse of the Russian Wildberries company in Elektrostal, Moscow Oblast on Feb. 8, Russian Telegram channel Shot reported .

29 people were also taken to police stations. Among the arrested were citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

A mass brawl involving over 100 employees and security personnel broke out at the Wildberries warehouse in Elektrostal on Dec. 8.
