Once a gator is successfully caught, it must be tagged and reported to authorities, and the meat and hide can be harvested for consumption and sale.

September is such a fun time to do this type of hunting. The marsh is lush and looks like a jungle and we use shallow water boats made by Gator Tail Outboards to access muddy areas where the big gators live. Just the boat ride alone has had our customers in awe.

Test your marksmanship and strength as we fight to get thrashing 5 to 11 foot alligators on the boat. Gator hunt trips are near Lafayette , Louisiana.  We have over 25,000 acres of marshland & swampland in Louisiana!  We have been 100% successful in the last 20 years!!!  The average size gator we catch is around 7 foot, but last year we caught several over 11 foot!!  The biggest one we snagged last year was 12 foot 6 inches!!  A portion of our proceeds are always donated to Hunters For the Hungry !

Each gator hunter will sign a contract, complete an application for a  Non-Resident Alligator Hunt License & an Activity Release of Liability Form.  We will pick up your Alligator Hunt License up for you at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries & have them ready for you to sign upon your arrival to the lodge.  If you are planning on a fishing trip as well, we can purchase your Non-Resident 3 Day Charter Fishing License for you & have it ready for you upon your arrival to the lodge.

We provide all meals and lodging for up to two nights, depending on your package.  The gator hunt season begins the first Wednesday of September & runs 30 days.  Since we only have 30 days to harvest gators each year, we are not able to cancel, transfer or refund payments for booked trips.  However, we can reschedule your gator hunt in the event of an emergency or natural disasters or we will still make you a pair of gator boots, belt & wallet if you have to cancel your trip & cannot reschedule.

CLOTHING & WEAPONS

We suggest that you bring cool, breathable clothing - blue jeans, light jacket & hiking boots or rubber boots.  You will also need earplugs, your driver's license, gator hunting license, eye protection , rain gear ("Frog Togs"), and a hat.  We will hunt gators rain or shine!!

Shots fired will be relatively close range.  We will provide weapons & use 22 mag pistols.  Bow & arrows are acceptable, however, if you choose to use a bow and you stick a gator that gets away, this will count as your gator!

Thank you for the overwhelming response and interest in joining us at the island. we are officially booked for the 2023–2024 hunting season. if you would like to join us next year, we are now accepting inquiries for personal or corporate memberships for the 2024–2025 season. secure your spot early and get ready for an unforgettable hunting experience at the island, south louisiana’s premiere hunting destination.

At The Island, hunting is our passion. We are outdoor enthusiasts and we know what makes hunting memorable. That’s why we strive to cater to every hunter’s needs and ensure you enjoy your stay with us.

Our hunting reserve offers classic Louisiana white-tailed deer to more exotic hunts such as alligator, pheasant, fallow, axis and sika deer hunting.

Membership to our private hunting club is available, and we are actively seeking new members who share our love for the outdoors and hunting. If you’re interested in becoming a member, please reach out for more information.

We encourage hunters to bring their own equipment, but we also keep a collection of firearms and ammunition on premises for rent or purchase.

Hunting licenses are required in Louisiana, and can easily be purchased online . We’re also happy to assist any members in acquiring licenses, so don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Join us at The Island for our Alligator hunts on the bayous of Louisiana! Alligator processing and packaging is included.

The Island is also the original home of Spots, the beloved blue-eyed white alligator who lived at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas for 24 years. Spots was recovered from an adjoining area in 1986 by the original land owners, Louisiana Land and Exploration Company, and lived on the grounds until he was donated to the Audubon Zoo in 1990.

Start your Pheasant & Quail Combo hunt with an evening at the gun range, followed by a full Cajun dinner with your group. Awake with a full spread breakfast then embark on a field quail hunt. After Lunch, enjoy a European-style tower pheasant shoot.

Come Experience an Alligator Hunt Just Like You See On TV

Corporate & family outings • bachelor parties.

Season usually opens the last Wednesday in August and last for 30 days. Book early in the season to avoid possible cool weather days. Trip is approx. 3 hours.

98% success rate. No guarantees of alligator. If you do not harvest an alligator on your trip you can re-book for 1/2 price.

The hunter will have the opportunity to purchase alligator meat, hides & skulls after the hunt.

LICENSE NOT INCLUDED. Info on how to obtain a license will be provided at time of booking. Captain must see valid license before boarding the vessel.

Guns, life jackets & ear protection will be provided and a safety briefing will take place before you board the vessel. Safety is our first priority. (Minimum 2 hunters per boat) What to bring: ice chest with drinks and snacks, camera, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, long sleeve shirts and pants recommended. No open toe shoes will be allowed on the boat. No alcohol or intoxicated hunters will be allowed on the boat and no refund granted.

50% deposit due at booking. Balance due no later than 14 days prior to departure. Payment is non-refundable but rescheduling will be accommodated. Checks & credit cards accepted.

Meeting location: 1045 Hwy 39 Braithwaite, LA 70040 30-35 minute drive from downtown New Orleans. If meeting location changes, we will contact the hunter. Transportation can be arranged.

$450/Person - Includes Airboat Ride & 1 Gator

Additional gators can be taken for $200/per gator.
