Most awaited European concert tours happening

Posted on Last updated: 6 January 2024

Home » Music » Most awaited European concert tours happening

If Rolling Stones and Garth Brooks had the  most successful music tours  in 2021, this year, we’ve got even more exciting names that will perform amazing shows. But other approaching tours are expected to occur around Europe in places where the whole world will gather.

If you want to get tickets and ensure your place on these tours, purchasing them early is best. At the same, ensuring you’ve got accommodation and learning how to get around these cities is essential, especially if you’re coming from the US, Asia or other areas. If you’re into a particular artist, you can follow their socials and get early access to some of their concerts’ locations at a lower price.

Let’s get into it!

artist european tours 2023

Coldplay is one of the most known rock alternative bands around the world, most famous for songs such as  Speed of Sound, Clocks  or  Viva la Vida.  The London-based group was rewarded with multiple Grammys, and people compare its style with Radiohead and Oasis.

In 2023, Coldplay is doing a worldwide tour around Europe, the USA and Latin America. The concerts will start on the 17th of May in Portugal and will end on the 1st of October in the United States. The American locations are pretty near to each other, so if you’re coming from Boston, you might need to leave your car at the  Boston Logan airport parking .

Here are the European countries where Coldplay will sing:

  • Portugal (17-21 May)
  • Spain (24-28 May)
  • United Kingdom (31st May-7th June)
  • Italy (21-29 June)
  • Switzerland (1st and 2nd of July)
  • Denmark (5th and 6th of July)
  • Sweden (8-12 July)
  • Netherlands (15-19 July)

Metallica is one of the oldest rock bands in the world since it was founded in 1981. With multiple hits and impressive songs,  Enter Sandman  got to the top of the “ 500 Greatest Songs of all Time ”, while  Nothing Else Matters  entered the Billboard 200 as number one shortly after its release.

The 2023 Metallica world tour will primarily take place around Europe, but locations such as the US, Canada and Mexico are also on the list. The closest date to seeing Metallica is on the 13th of April in the Netherlands , but here are some other countries where you can find them:

  • France (17-19 May)
  • Germany (26-28 May)
  • United Kingdom (the 8th of June)
  • Finland (7-9 June 2024)
  • Poland (5-7 June 2024)
  • Spain (12-14 July 2024)
  • Mexico (20-29 September 2024)

The closest date to see Metallica in the US is on the fourth and sixth of August in East Rutherford. The nearest airport is in Boston, where you can get Logan airport parking in case you want to leave your car somewhere safe.

Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode is yet another old but gold band founded in 1980 that mainly focuses on post-punk, synthpop and industrial rock. The group originated from the UK and is currently on the list of “50 Bands that changed the world” and “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.

Regarding the tour, Depeche Mode will get across the whole world, so you don’t have to worry about missing them. Most Big European cities were chosen as concert locations, while Canada, the US and Mexico are also on the list. Here’s where to get your ticket:

  • Netherlands (16-18 May)
  • Belgium (the 29th of May)
  • Germany (4-6 June)
  • Spain (the 8th of June)
  • France (22-24 June)
  • Romania (26th July)
  • Poland (2-4 August)

Bruce Springsteen

The American singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen is known for his long-lasting and energetic concerts as well as impressive lyrics. Many of his singles reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 10, and almost all his albums were successful during his career.

His concert tour is not that expanded since, besides the US, Canada, Ireland and the UK, only a few European locations are set to be the locations for his concerts, like:

  • France (13-15 May)
  • Netherlands (25 and 27 May and the 11th of June)
  • Denmark (11-13 July)
  • Germany (the 21st of June and 15 and 23 July)
  • Austria (the 18th of July)

You can buy the tickets directly from his website, but some might need to be searched for on other third-party ticket vendors. Springsteen stated that he’s excited to see his “great and loyal fans” as he always valued the public.

Hans Zimmer

Hans Zimmer is famous for his unique soundtrack contribution to the most known movies and adaptations. He’s the one who composed music for  The Lion King, Dune  and  The Last Samurai . Hans reached the list of  Top 100 Living Geniuses.

In 2023, Hans Zimmer will be present mostly around Europe in the following cities:

  • Germany (the 23rd of April, the 9th of June)
  • Belgium (the 25th of April and the 22nd of June)
  • Italy (1-3 May)
  • France (6-9 May and 23-25 June)
  • Portugal (the 13th of May)
  • Spain (11-16 May)
  • Switzerland (22-23 May)
  • Poland (the 30th of May)
  • Czech Republic (the 2nd of June)
  • Austria (the 3rd of June)
  • Hungary (the 5th of June)
  • Slovakia (the 6th of June)
  • UK (14-16 June)
  • Ireland (the 18th of June)

How to prepare for traveling to Europe

If you’re outside the European Union, you might need to get your visa in check and analyze the price exchanges. While some European countries are relatively affordable, some leverage expensive accommodation and food, such as Austria, for example. At the same time, getting an adaptor and power strip might come in handy, as European adaptors are different from American ones.

What’s best in Europe is that you can get everywhere with cheap public transportation . Trains, buses and trams are everywhere so you won’t have to pay for taxis. The locals are usually welcoming, but it would be best to respect their culture and not be loud around cities. However, if you want to party before or after concerts, know that European bars and clubs are like no other!

Bottom line

This year is full of exceptional worldwide tours by excellent singers and bands. Regardless of the genre you listen to, the artists above are ageless and a staple in the music industry, so we recommend getting your tickets as soon as possible.

The biggest gigs and tours to look forward to in 2023

From reunited legends to rising stars, 2023’s live calendar is jam-packed with unmissable appointments

Self Esteem Stormzy Blur Damon Albarn

Times are tough right now, there’s no denying that. But there’s also no denying the healing power of music – especially going to witness your favourite artist or new obsession live. Luckily 2023 is already jam-packed with massive tours and big gigs to help brighten up our lives, whether that’s Arctic Monkeys stepping up to stadiums, rap’s newest star GloRilla showing her mettle, or reunited legends like Blur and Pulp giving us some good old nostalgia. Here are the biggest gigs and tours to look forward to this year.

  • Arctic Monkeys

Matt Helders and Alex Turner performing live on-stage with Arctic Monkeys in 2022

Dates announced: Arctic Monkeys ’ 2023 dates start early, ringing in the New Year in Australia. From there, they’ll tour Asia and Europe, before coming home to the UK for a massive stadium tour and returning to the US.

Why you should go: To witness a live show as dazzling as the mirrorball the band performed around on their 2022 tour. Something tells us the grandiose strings of latest album ‘The Car’ will sound absolutely majestic in the humongous venues the Monkeys will be playing over the next 12 months.

Elton John

Dates announced: Elton John starts his year in Australia and New Zealand before returning to the UK and Europe for a  Glasto finale .

Why you should go: These are quite literally your very last opportunities to see one of pop’s most iconic and unique artists. Sure, loads of acts say they’re quitting touring and then have a big change of heart a few years later, but you don’t want to take the risk of missing out on Elton.

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers

Recommended

Anthony Kiedis Red Hot Chili Peppers

Dates announced: Red Hot Chili Peppers will tour New Zealand, Australia and Asia in the first two months of the year, moving on to North America in spring, and Europe and the UK in summer.

Why you should go: They’re pros at the big stadium spectacular – they’ve been doing it for long enough by now. They’re also bringing some huge names with them in support, from Post Malone to The Strokes and Iggy Pop . Not bad!

  • Harry Styles

Harry Styles performing live on-stage in 2022

Dates announced: After three rescheduled LA dates in January, Harry Styles will head to Australia in February, continuing on to Asia and Europe, arriving in the UK in May.

Why you should go: The ‘Love On Tour’ tour might seem never-ending, but even if you’ve been multiple times, it’s still a whole lot of fun to go again. Enjoy the conga lines to ‘Treat People With Kindness’ and make friends with your seatmates as you bellow out Harry’s modern pop anthems together. Sounds lovely.

artist european tours 2023

Dates announced: The iconic British girl group will head down under in February before playing a one-off London date in September.

Why you should go: These dates are a continuation of the original Sugababes line-up’s reunion – Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donagh – and will see the women celebrating the 25th anniversary of the group. They’ve been through a lot of ups and downs in that time, but this feels like a perfect way to mark the milestone.

Glorilla

Dates announced: US tour begins January 27.

Why you should go: GloRilla is the hottest new hip-hop talent in the game and it’s not going to be long before she’s filling massive venues around the world. Get down to this tour and say you saw her first – and enjoy her mix of femininity and boldness in her infectious songs.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

Bruce Springsteen performing live on stage during Paul McCartney's headline set at Glastonbury 2022

Dates announced: US leg begins February 1; the tour arrives in Europe on April 28, with UK dates from May 30.

Why you should go: There’s been some (deserved) uproar about very expensive tickets, but if you can find a pass at a reasonable price, Springsteen will certainly give you value for money – his gigs are known to stretch for hours, rattling through the big hits and the fan favourites far longer than most acts would perform for.

Paramore

Dates announced: US leg runs from February to August, with UK dates nestled in the middle in April.

Why you should go: To hear the brilliant new songs from upcoming album ‘This Is Why’ among all the best cuts from their back catalogue. Plus, it’s been way too long since Hayley Williams and co went on a proper tour – five years, in fact.

  • Caroline Polachek

Caroline Polachek

Dates announced: The UK, Europe and North America are all on Caroline Polachek ’s schedule, beginning in the former in February.

Why you should go: The alt-pop star’s live shows have been described as a work of art and she always packs surprises into her sets – like at her last London gig, when she was joined by Croydon’s Trinity Girls Choir on ‘Billions’.

Self Esteem

artist european tours 2023

Dates announced: UK tour kicks off in February.

Why you should go: This tour feels like a victory lap for Self Esteem , who arguably has had the best last couple of years out of all of us. Her album ‘Prioritise Pleasure’ has constantly wowed fans and critics alike, while her live show has been praised as one of the best in recent memory. Give yourself another chance to see why it’s so brilliant before she inevitably pops off to come up with her next mind-blowing record.

SZA - SOS review

Dates announced: US tour kicks off February 21.

Why you should go: Because SZA ’s new album ‘SOS’ is a very late contender for Album Of The Year and, had it been released earlier, would certainly have been nearing the top of a lot of lists. If you need any more incentive (you shouldn’t), she’s also bringing along Omar Apollo in support to add some extra greatness.

Yungblud performing live on-stage

Dates announced: The Doncaster rock’n’roller will head out on a world tour, beginning in the UK in February before hitting Europe and North America.

Why you should go: Yungblud ’s gigs are renowned for being inclusive, euphoric and theatrical celebrations where you can let go, be yourself and find a community of kindred spirits. We could all do with a bit more of that energy in 2023 so get down to a show and make the most of it.

Lizzo. Credit: Tim Mosenfelder via Getty Images

Dates announced: Europe tour begins February, with UK dates from March before continuing onto North America.

Why you should go: Lizzo shows are the ultimate upper – a feel good celebration of life from one of the most infectious personalities in music. Grab your mates and make sure you get there in time for “bad bitch o’clock”.

BLACKPINK

Dates announced: The ladies of BLACKPINK will take their BORN PINK tour across Asia, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand in the first half of the year, before heading to London in July to headline BST Hyde Park.

Why you should go: This K-pop girl group know how to put on a show , from hi-tech, futuristic VTs to set the mood between each phase of the concert, to artful and flashy stage production. The songs are equally as good – by the time you leave the venue, you’ll have several jostling for place as that day’s earworm.

Blink-182

Dates announced: Blink ’s return begins in South America on March 11, before heading to North America in May and the UK and Europe in September.

Why you should go: It’s the pop-punk icons’ first tour with Tom DeLonge since he left the band in 2015 – aka a massive deal. There’s also a new album on the way, so this won’t just be a big nostalgia trip.

  • Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift performing live on-stage

Dates announced: US leg begins March 17; international dates TBA.

Why you should go: Taylor Swift ’s 2023 tour is dubbed ‘The Eras Tour’ and, while it’s not entirely clear exactly how she’s going to honour each of her past albums yet, it’s guaranteed to be the perfect chance to celebrate the many highs of her brilliant career so far (if you can beat Ticketmaster). Plus, the support bill in the US is stacked, with Paramore , Phoebe Bridgers , Gracie Abrams , Haim , Girl In Red , and many more along for the ride.

The Walkmen

The Walkmen Hamilton Leithauser

Dates announced: US tour begins April 24; one further festival date confirmed so far at Portugal’s Paredes de Coura Festival.

Why you should go: Sure, New York in the early noughties had The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Interpol , but it also had The Walkmen , a band who often get left out of top billing when talking about that much-romanticised scene. Take one listen to the indie disco classic ‘The Rat’ and tell us that’s fair, and then go book your tickets to their reunion tour.

Kirk Hammett (left) and James Hetfield (right) of Metallica performs on day 1 of Lollapalooza at Grant Park on July 28, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois

Dates announced: The tour begins in Europe in April, heading to the UK for two sets at Download Festival in June, before moving onto North America.

Why you should go: As if you need a reason to go and see Metallica , the titans of metal. But just in case: they’re masters of their craft – aka big, bruising, headbang-worthy riffs – and have a discography of seemingly endless anthems for you to get lost in the moshpit to.

Damiano David of Måneskin

Dates announced: The Italian rockers will tour Europe across spring with a massive London gig at The O2 in May.

Why you should go: In this day and age, it’s rare for Eurovision contestants to carve out careers post-Song Contest that aren’t short-lived or derided as novelty. But Måneskin are living proof that it is doable, so long as you have the tunes and the charisma to deserve more than 15 minutes of fame. The four-piece have both in bucketloads, as you can bear witness to on this tour.

Foals

Dates announced: An intimate UK tour in May.

Why you should go: Foals are now one of the biggest bands in the UK and so the opportunity to see them in tiny venues is a rare chance we must grab when it’s presented to us. Dance to ‘My Number’ on the sticky floor of a club in spring, then celebrate their ascent as they headline Reading & Leeds in the summer.

Pulp

Dates announced: The UK and Ireland-only dates begin in May, continuing til July.

Why you should go: They’re back, baby! Just under a decade since their last live performances, Pulp have reunited once more and are taking their show back on the road to liven up our summer. Expect all the classics, but no Steve Mackey – the bassist has confirmed he won’t join the band on tour.

Damon Albarn of Blur performs live

Dates announced: Select European festival dates woven between three headline shows in Dublin and London this June.

Why you should go: When Blur first reunited in 2009, they instantly blew away any fears that the band might not be the same after years apart. This latest reunion should be no different and the members seem in good spirits about it, too. “We really love playing these songs and thought it’s about time we did it again,” Damon Albarn said when the gigs were announced.

Moldy Peaches

Adam Green

Dates announced: One London show and appearances at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Madrid

Why you should go: It’s been 20 years since anti-folk icons The Moldy Peaches last performed in Europe. Although they announced their reunion with the slogan “Once a Moldy Peach, always a Moldy Peach”, who knows when this opportunity to see New York underground royalty will come around again?

Joni Mitchell

Joni Mitchell

Dates announced: George, WA, Gorge Amphitheatre (June 10).

Why you should go: Joni Mitchell might be playing only one date next year but you should move heaven and earth to try and make it. Why? The last time she held a full concert was 23 years ago and it’s unlikely she’s about to hit the road for even a handful more dates at this point, so it could be your only chance to see the bonafide legend live.

Pet Shop Boys

Pet Shop Boys Neil Tennant

Dates announced: The UK and European tour runs from June to July.

Why you should go: This is Pet Shop Boys ’ ‘Dreamworld – The Greatest Hits Live’ tour so you’re basically assured that you’re going to hear all of the biggest and best songs in their inimitable arsenal.

jamie t live

Dates announced: London, Finsbury Park (June 23)

Why you should go: It’s Jamie T ’s biggest headline show to date and bound to be an absolute riot. This is an artist who can do indie disco bangers, poignant, softer (if booze-soaked) cuts, and everything in between and make it seem effortless.

The Weeknd

The Weeknd

Dates announced: UK and Europe tour begins in June before covering Latin America.

Why you should go: This huge stadium tour will cover both of The Weeknd ’s two latest albums – ‘After Hours’ and ‘Dawn FM’ – taking you inside the sci-fi-tinged world of both masterpieces.

Stormzy

Dates announced: Stormzy will take over one day of London’s All Points East, curating a special ‘This Is What We Mean Day’.

Why you should go: The whole day will be Stormzy’s vision – something he’s already proved countless times is a great thing. The line-up has yet to be announced but expect to discover exhilarating new talent, big names making surprise appearances and, of course, it all to be topped off by a headline set from Big Mike himself.

The Postal Service & Death Cab For Cutie

Ben Gibbard

Dates announced: US tour kicks off September 8

Why you should go: Ben Gibbard is pulling double duty on the tour, fronting both The Postal Service and Death Cab For Cutie . The tour itself is a celebration of two albums – the former’s ‘Give Up’ and the latter’s ‘Transatlanticism’, and you’ll get to see both played in full. What more could you ask for?

From SZA to Taylor Swift, All the Artists Going on Tour in 2023

Published on 1/20/2023 at 5:00 PM

artist european tours 2023

When it comes to music, 2022 went out with a bang, especially after years of uncertainty in the music industry amid the COVID pandemic. Along with incredible, critically acclaimed releases from artists like Harry Styles (" Harry's House "), Beyoncé (" Renaissance "), The Weeknd (" Dawn FM "), Kendrick Lamar (" Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers "), and SZA (" SOS "), the year was also filled with showstopping tours. Elton John, Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga, The 1975, Dua Lipa, and Lizzo were just some of the artists who dominated 2022 with national and international shows.

Given last year's lineup of beloved artists, 2023 has some big shoes to fill in terms of concert tours, but the year is set to match 2022 with a number of highly anticipated, spectacular shows. Whether you're a serial concertgoer or someone looking to simply enjoy some live music, here's a roundup of artists going on tour in 2023.

Beyonce's "Renaissance" World Tour

Beyonce's "Renaissance" World Tour

In October 2022, Queen Bey discreetly teased that she would be going on tour in 2023. According to Vulture , the "Cuff It" singer revealed the news at the Wearable Art Gala, when a "UNIQUE experience" to see the star perform her newest songs from the "Renaissance" album was auctioned off. Dates and locations for the tour have yet to be revealed, but fans anticipate an announcement sometime in February.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour

For Swifties, the announcement of a new Taylor Swift tour this fall was beyond exciting, but a glitch in Ticketmaster's system (caused by unprecedented demand for tickets, among other reasons) led to many fans losing out on the chance to see Swift perform in person. Though some controversy has surrounded the Eras Tour, it nonetheless is highly anticipated by fans lucky enough to have snagged tickets. The tour features guest performances from artists like Paramore, Haim, and Phoebe Bridgers and will span across the US (international dates TBA) from March 17 to Aug. 9.

Lizzo's "Special" 2our

The singer's North American segment of the tour begins in Knoxville, TN, on April 21 and ends on June 2 in Palm Desert, CA.

SZA's "SOS" Tour

The release of SZA's "SOS" album was a gradual one, but upon its Dec. 9 release, the album received widespread acclaim. Showcasing songs like "Good Days," "I Hate U," and "Kill Bill," the tour will run from Feb. 21 to May 21 and is set to feature R&B singer Omar Apollo as a guest performer.

Paramore's In North America Tour

Paramore is kicking off 2023 with a bang and embarking on their In North America Tour on Feb. 6 in Nashville. The tour comes after the band's five-year hiatus and ahead of their newest album, "This Is Why," set to release on Feb. 10. On returning to the road as a group, lead singer Hayley Williams told Billboard , "We're lucky that we've never relied on being a specific type of success, whether that be chart success or radio success. Because at the end of the day, there's a connection and a relationship with the people that have grown up supporting and loving the band with us. So we trust that."

Ed Sheeran's Mathematics Tour

Blink-182's 2023 Tour

In October 2022, punk-rock band Blink-182 released their first single ("Edging") with founding member Tom DeLonge after his seven-year hiatus from the band. The group's highly anticipated reunion tour kicks off in Tijuana, Mexico, on March 11 and will span around the world until March 2024.

Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks's Two Icons, One Night Tour

Kenny Loggins's "This Is It" Tour

"Footloose" singer Kenny Loggins is touring for the last time in 2023. Loggins will kick off the tour on March 10 and conclude his lengthy gig on Oct. 27 in Inglewood, CA. Red Hot Chili Peppers' 2023 Tour

Funk-rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers will be sharing the stage with beloved artists like The Strokes and Thundercat during their 2023 tour. The tour will start Jan. 21 in Auckland, New Zealand, and end on July 23 in Glasgow, Scotland. Pit stops include various locations in the United States, like Las Vegas, San Diego, and Phoenix, as well as places around the globe, like Tokyo, Milan, and London.

Matchbox Twenty's Spring/Summer 2023 Tour

Europe (formed in 1979) is a hard rock band from Upplands Väsby, Stockholm. The group were originally named "Force" before changing to Europe.

The group is made up of guitarist John Norum, vocalist Joey Tempest, bass player Peter Olsson and the drummer Tony Reno.

The group rose to fame after the release of their third album called "The Final Countdown" in 1986. It was used on a range of different commercials and sold over three million copies in the US.

The group uses a range of metal/ blues metal genres in their music, "The Final Countdown" was said to be a masterpiece that contributed many different simultaneous styles.

Europe sold over 20 million albums world wide and was considered to be a huge rock band of the 1980s. The band is said to be influenced by Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, KISS and the likes of Black Label Society.

In 2011, Europe headlined the closing ceremonies at the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden before a huge audience. Later that year they announced their ninth studio album that was produced by Kevin Shirley, it was named "Bag of Bones". The album went on to reach number two on the Swedish Album Chart.

In 2013 the band played at the Sweden Rock Festival, their performance was released on DVD and CD for their 30th Anniversary as a group.

Live reviews

For many, at this point in time, Europe’s ‘The Final Countdown’ will inspire images of GOB from Arrested Development and his flamboyant introduction to his magic show; the truth is, though, that that song has a far wider significance in rock history, having topped the charts in twenty five countries back in 1986. The band themselves, though, would surely take offence at accusations of being one-hit wonders; they’ve had three platinum records, and continue to be a major commercial force in their native Sweden. After an eleven year lay-off between 1992 and 2003 - the split was amicable - they continue to record and tour today. Time hasn’t slowed them down, either, with their live shows continuing to be high-octane, relentlessly energetic affairs; frontman Joey Tempest is irrepressible, acting as a conduit for the crowd’s energy whilst the rest of the band perform in front of a veritable mountain of Marshall amps. They’ve toured the UK regularly since the reunion, with their most recent jaunt just this last April, a co-headlining affair with Foreigner that had them running through the classics as well as a slew of material from 2012’s Bag of Bones LP. With a significant fanbase the world over, don’t expect Europe to vanish any time soon; not unless they step inside GOB’s Aztec Tomb, anyway.

Europe, the Swedish rock group have had a turbulent career ranging from huge international commerciality to an eleven year hiatus. Now back firmly in the world of recording and touring, they continue to travel the globe and demonstrate their reputation as one of Sweden's most successful rock bands. Away from the obviously international hit 'The Final Countdown' the band has enjoyed three platinum selling albums and a string of lesser known hit singles such as 'Rock The Night' and 'Superstitious'.

Performing a short but concise set to the crowd gathered in Wolverhampton's Civic Hall, Europe behave as a classic rock ensemble; very little stage decoration, moody fluorescent lighting and a lot of swagger from frontman Joey Tempest. A more acquired taste in the UK, the crowd still cheered enthusiastically at a great rendition of 'Superstitious' and a drawn out instrumental version of 'Carrie'.

It would be fair to say that the audience were all waiting for that one classic track, 'The Final Countdown' which closed the show. It may be this song that the crowd would be singing long into the night, but Europe easily proved themselves as a worthy rock band as opposed to a one hit wonder.

The stage was impressive as were the band. Sounding like they had just released their first album, Europe rocked through the entire concert. No support act and a show so awesome it needed an intermission, we rocked, sang and danced with Joe and the boys through all the old hits and the best of the new. The energy of the guys was astounding, each having their own moment to shine. The drum solo was a stand out. It was a well crafted set list, with the big anthems and softer ballads, blended to remind us that Europe has been part of the soundtrack of our lives. A concert that left us grinning and singing on the night and for days afterwards.

always a pleasure to see this guys in action! as a very old fan form the 80's, i loved the band from the beginning...so much fun and some tears too...very emocional and the set list was amazing too. tunes from every period of their career, from the oldest to new ones, of course focusing on the last álbum, War Of Kings. the sound of the venue was amazing, with a stage lights doing a very special show too.

Excellent band. Great energy playing as if they were only new on the scene.

2 negatives.... Too many new songs and not enough hits and also no encore. Everyone wanted more but as it was a Co headlining tour they only did 70 minutes.

joey tempest is an amazing front man and this bunch of musicians deserve a lot of credit for their live performances.

Love this band, have been to every gig since 1989 except one where I was ill. Europe have great songs and the new album War of Kings is brilliant, they are entertaining Joey is funny and makes a great frontman and the band as a whole are great musicians. Would highly recommend them as a fantastic live band.

Excellent performance! The band looked really good and they enjoyed the show, especially Joey.

They performed the last album and the Final Countdown entirely according to the schedule.

The sound was really good and the two video walls were projecting scenes from the 80s. Really cool!

Awesome as always.. just wish house of blues told people about the reserved seating.. they led everyone to believe it was standing room only. hated the fact i had to drive downtown chicago.. it was the worst experience ever... but worth using uber the 2nd time downtown to see them.

The 44 Most Anticipated Tours of 2024: Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Olivia Rodrigo, and More

By Pitchfork

Mitski Burna Boy Olivia Rodrigo and more

It’s looking like a busy year for some of the world’s biggest touring artists, with packed schedules from Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Bad Bunny, Foo Fighters, the Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Green Day, and many more. A few touring institutions, meanwhile, are just wrapping up, from Adele’s time in Las Vegas to Billy Joel’s Madison Square Garden residency and Bob Dylan’s seemingly never-ending Rough and Rowdy Ways trek. Some things, however, just never seem to change: You can expect the Ty Segalls and King Gizzards of the world to feature on these roundups till kingdom come, with reliable indie-rock staples like Destroyer, Wednesday, and Alvvays still out in force fighting for the cause, too.

After a residency that has spanned the best part of a year and brought hundreds of thousands of Adele fans to Las Vegas, the Tottenham superstar is closing the run with dates from January through June. “This residency, these shows have changed my life. I desperately needed to fall back in love with performing live again, and I have,” she said in the announcement. “It’s just made me realize how much I really enjoy being on stage, that I’m bloody good at it and that it is 100% where I belong! So let’s go one last time before I turn into a showgirl forever!” –Jazz Monroe

Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette will spend the spring and summer touring North America with noteworthy companions Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. The Triple Moon Tour begins in June in Phoenix, Arizona, and wraps up with a final show in Inglewood, California. Morissette and Jett will also be joined by country singer Morgan Wade. –Hattie Lindert

Before they play a European festival circuit next summer, Alvvays will head out on a series of U.S. tour dates in spring 2024. Fresh off their first-ever Grammy nomination (a Best Alternative Music Performance nod for their song “Belinda Says”), Alvvays are hitting venues across the country and ending the run in May in Tucson, Arizona. –Hattie Lindert

Alvvays: US Spring Tour 2024

Turns out 2022’s El Último Tour del Mundo wasn’t actually Bad Bunny’s last world tour. The Puerto Rican superstar is back on the road for the 47-date Most Wanted North American tour, in support of his October 2023 album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana . The run begins in February and concludes in May with three back-to-back nights in Miami. –Hattie Lindert

Bad Bunny: Most Wanted Tour

Belle and Sebastian

Right at the top of 2023, Belle and Sebastian shared a surprise album: Late Developers presented an array of playful indie-pop, and a companion of sorts to the previous year’s A Bit of Previous . The band was due to tour shortly after the record’s release but canceled when bandleader Stuart Murdoch ran into health issues ; the rescheduled dates take place in the spring. In the meantime, Murdoch announced a memoirish novel and the band appeared on The Simpsons . –Jazz Monroe

Belle and Sebastian: North American Tour Spring 2024

This year marks the end of Billy Joel’s storied Madison Square Garden residency: the New York staple is set to retire his franchise with the venue after his 150th show in July. Since announcing the series in 2013, Joel has kept it a steady engagement, only taking off 18 months for the pandemic. While the residency is coming to a close, Joel does not yet plan to retire. –Hattie Lindert

With all that, he and Bleachers are also going on the From Studio to the Stage Tour with Samia as an opener. –Hattie Lindert

Drake & J. Cole

Apparently, to Drake, entering “Scary Hours” means bidding 21 Savage adieu and welcoming J. Cole to the next edition of the It’s All a Blur Tour. In support of For All the Dogs and the subsequent Scary Hours Edition , Drake has expanded the tour with a series of 2024 dates featuring Cole. The new leg of the tour—subtitled Big as the What?—begins later this month in Denver. –Hattie Lindert

Unofficially inspired to recreate the Predator handshake meme but for two different generations of emo-gone-pop-punk, Fall Out Boy and Jimmy Eat World are joining forces this spring for a 23-date tour of the United States, with the former headlining and the latter opening. Dubbed the So Much for (2our) Dust , it begins in Portland, Oregon, on February 28 and stretches on through to April 6, where the trek ends in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Both bands will also reunite in the fall for the Las Vegas music festival When We Were Young. If it’s anything like the first run of Fall Out Boy’s tour in support of their new album, So Much (for) Stardust , then fans can expect a thrilling career-spanning setlist that rotates in a few new songs each night. –Nina Corcoran

After being hospitalized for a severe bacterial infection last year, Madonna made a full recovery, in a turn she has referred to as “ a fucking miracle .” As a result, the pop legend finally kicked off the initial leg of her rescheduled Celebration Tour in October. After a stretch of dates in England and Europe, Madonna has already brought her career-spanning show to North America, where she will continue with dates in Toronto, Detroit, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Las Vegas, Inglewood, Houston, Miami, and more until spring. Madonna: The Celebration Tour

The riotous Welsh rock band Mclusky, who last toured North America in 2004, were primed for a cross-Atlantic comeback run until disaster struck: bandleader Andrew “Falco” Falkous found himself working through a debilitating bout of tinnitus and other inner-ear problems. After some recuperation and with hearing protection in tow, Falkous and the band are due to make good on their return in March. The group shared a double A-side, “ Unpopular Parts of a Pig / The Digger You Deep ,” in September, as a high-spirited preview of a forthcoming full-length. –Allison Hussey

She may not be an outspoken artist online, but, behind the scenes, Mitski is making every word count. The result of her efforts is a North American tour with multiple nights at theaters around the country in support of The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We . Joining her along the way are openers Tamino, Sunny War, Julia Jacklin, and Sarah Kinsley. –Nina Corcoran

Tool haven’t released new music since 2019’s Fear Inoculum , but they’ve remained busy on the road. Following headlining and festival dates last year, the band has stadium and arena shows in January and February. Wondering what wild outfit Maynard James Keenan will wear this time? Will it be a blonde wig, red lipstick, and prosthetic breasts? A leather jumpsuit and a wild mohawk? Might as well go to one of these shows and find out. –Evan Minsker and Matthew Ismael Ruiz

One can never be sure exactly what to expect from a Ty Segall show, especially here in the post–Freedom Band era. His sets can be electric and wild, acoustic and intimate, maybe a bit psychedelic. With his 2024 dates behind the new album Three Bells , you can likely expect him to lean into his prog rock impulses. After some West Coast dates in February, he’s heading across North America in April and May. –Evan Minsker

Hayes Carll, 49 Winchester, Sylvan Esso, and Allison Russell will join Childers at different stops of the U.S. run. –Allison Hussey

During a Super Bowl musically dominated by the long-awaited return of Rihanna, U2 shared a commercial featuring a baby’s face in an orb. That mystical child heralded the band’s Las Vegas shows, where they’ve performed their 1991 album, Achtung Baby , from September into the first months of 2024. U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere marked the opening of the MSG Sphere at the Venetian, which seats 17,500. With Larry Mullen Jr. taking time away from the band to recover from surgery, Bram van den Berg is playing drums at the shows. In a statement accompanying the announcement, the Edge used the phrase “the beauty of the Sphere” (speaking of the venue and not the baby from the Super Bowl spot). –Evan Minsker

Flyctory.com – Future European Country (and more) Tour Dates

With more and more concerts coming in despite pandemic, I decided to move future country music concert dates to a separate page on Flyctory.com. I will update the data the next weeks gradually. The concerts are arranged in three sections, starting with my Featured Artists, followed by country music & Americana in general and, finally, all other kinds of tours I support or recommend. You may find tour dates for other genres than country in postings marked with the Tour Dates tag.

List of Future Concerts – Featured Artists

There is currently no Featured Artist on Tour

List of Future Country Concerts – European Dates

I decided to merge country music dates on this page now and remove the formerly existing split between  Sound of Nashville concerts and other dates. This section will in the the future also hold more and more Americana acts. I typically skip pure UK & Ireland tours.

Sam Outlaw – EU Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

Even though Sam Outlaw is having a quite long list of European dates for 2024, he is neither visiting the United Kingdom nor Germany . Thus, I am rather jealous of the people who are able to attend one of the concerts.

Lainey Wilson – Live 2024

artist european tours 2023

The last two years have definitely been great ones for Lainey Wilson. Four ACMA  Awards in 2023, two CMA Awards in 2022 and a lot of reputation and new fans – Lainey Wilson boosted herself on the top group of female country music artists. In April 2024, she is kicking off her European Tour.

Jon Pardi – Mr. Saturday Night World Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

After Jon Pardi could not make it in 2023, he kept his promise and found replacement dates for his originally scheduled shows. There is even one additional concert, at the O2 Institute in Birmingham. What an amazing time for Belfast, hosting Jon Pardi just a day after the kick-off of the Lainey Wilson Tour

Darius Rucker – Starting Fires Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

This one is the first big tour announcement for 2024 featuring dates outside the United Kingdom and Ireland to me. Darius Rucker is touring Europe – and among two dates in Germany and a lot of U.K. dates, he will also be touring Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Charles Esten – Love Ain’t Pretty Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

Charles Esten is about to release his first independent album in early 2024 – and he will also share it with us live on stage on a European tour. Sounds very exciting – and interesting to see that there are also four shows in Germany.

The BossHoss – 20 F**cking Years!

artist european tours 2023

These guys are really active. Just after closing their tour in 2023, they announced (majorly open air) tour dates for 2024 – and keep on partying their band anniversary.

Kacey Musgraves – Deeper Well World Tour

artist european tours 2023

Even before she is kicking off the North American part of her  Deeper Well  World Tour, Kacey Musgraves is coming to Europe. The German dates are presented by Sound of Nashville . All European dates are supported by Madi Diaz

Brett Young – Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

Brett Young is more and more becoming a regular guest in Europe. He is having quite a lot of shows over here in May 2024, starting with Scandinavia, Germany and the Netherlands and then heading to the U.K.:

49 Winchester – Euro Tour ’24

artist european tours 2023

Right after the Virginia country band plays the BigAs Festival in Texas, they are heading over to Europe ad play in quite a couple of countries. There are also two gigs in Germany. Feels like this could be a lot of fun:

Jill Fisher – 2024 Concerts

artist european tours 2023

A very interesting German country artist is Jill Fisher. So far, there are not that many tour dates outstanding – but I am sure, the young country lady will soon add some more.

Western AF – Euro Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

Western AF (“As F_ck”) is a European tour project, which is presenting three songwriters throughout several stages in different European countries. The 2024 tour features Missouri native Todd Day Wait, honky-tonk style Pat Reedy and Kristina Murray, who is rather doing a traditional style sound. This tour feels very promising.

The Dead South – Europe 2024

artist european tours 2023

The Dead South are also touring the UK and Ireland in late 2023. I am concentrating in here on the Central European date in summer 2024.

Dylan Gossett – The Somehwhere Between Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

Right in early March 2024, I just had added a Dylan Gossett song to my  Country Music Playlist , the Texas artist announced European tour dates for June and July 2024. Exciting news!

Megan Moroney – Georgia Girl Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

September is Megan Moroney time! After some sows in the United Kingdom, the artist is having shows in different parts of Europe, including four shows in Scandinavia and two in Germany.

Blackberry Smoke – Be Right Here Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

September and October 2024 will have a blast in Europe: the country rockers / Southern rockers Blackberry Smoke will tour the continent. To make it even better: They bring The Steel Woods as a support act with them. Fun guaranteed!

Koe Wetzel Damn Near Normal World Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

The Texas country rocker Koe Wetzel is well-known for his smashing stage performances. In October, he is setting sail over the Atlantic and concludes his 2024 world tour in Europe. Feels very promising.

Ilse DeLange – Tour Germany 2024

artist european tours 2023

While Dutch country and pop artist Ilse DeLange toured in her home country through different theaters in early 2024, she is back in German clubs in fall 2024. I am sure that apart from her May 2024 album  Tainted , there might also be some of her classics.

Carly Pearce – Hummingbird Tour 2025

artist european tours 2023

The Hummingbird Tour is definitely the first really big country music tour announcement for 2025. Carly Pearce is first playing a set of gigs in Central Europe, before heading on to the United Kingdom and Ireland : I am sure that fans already look forward to it.

C2C – Country To Country 2025

artist european tours 2023

The C2C dates for 2025 have already been confirmed. Berlin  and Rotterdam will become three-day festivals again. I will definitely try to be in Berlin again in 2025.

Other Tours

There is currently no other tour I would like to share with you. This section will also feature tours in the future, which I am aiming to cover with Flyctory.com:, as well as general recommendations.

Andreas Dorau – Im Gebüsch Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

Even though I am not that much into electronic pop, I love Andreas Dorau and his music for decades. He is touring with his latest album  Im Gebüsch in Germany in ealry 2025:

Crypta – Shades of Sorrow European Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

The Brazilian all female death metal band have just been founded in 2019, but already gained a massive fan base. In early 2024, they tour North America and then head on to good, old Europe. Support acts are Nakkeknaekker and Plaguemace.

Lordi – Unliving PicTour Show 2024

artist european tours 2023

My favorite Finnish monsters are back on European stages (majorly on German ones). Lordi is still by far the most frequently featured band in reviews – and just love their shows. More stages to be added.

The Mavericks – European & UK Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

The Tex-Mex rockers come back to Europe in April and May 2024. This one could be a lot of fun.

Jonathan Roy – Nice To Meet You Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

I featured the title track of the Canadian alternative rock artist in my 29th March 2023  Songs of the Week . A really interesting act – bad luck that I have conflicting dates for the Cologne show. Quite an impressing list of shows.

Sasha – This Is My Time 2024

artist european tours 2023

Sasha is a very versatile German artist. In summer 2023, I reviewed the soundtrack to his children’s book  Toto und der Mann im Mond.  He had to move his show  This Is My Time , which will be a rather posh experience, to 2024. Here are the tour dates (all in Germany ):

Bruce Dickinson – The Mandrake Project Live 2024

artist european tours 2023

The Mandrake Project is definitely one of the most anticipated 2024 rock and metal albums. Iron Maiden legend Bruce Dickinson is not only sharing the release in March 2024 as a record, he is also touring the world with the songs thereafter. Here are the European dates: There are also some festival dates which do not have a fixed date yet.

The Kolors – European Tour 2024/25

artist european tours 2023

Since their  Cabriolet Panorma , I am a huge fan of the Italian synth-pop trio The Kolors. I hoped to make it to one of their Italian concerts – but after the band had more and more success outside their home country. Will definitely try to see one of the shows. Unfortunately, I don’t know most of the venues yet

Steel Panther – On The Prowl Europe 2024

artist european tours 2023

Even if I did not assign a very high rating to the 2023  On The Prowl   album, I am sure that these guys will be a lot of fun during their 2024 European tour stages. The Sweden Rock Festival is missing below, the exact date is not yet fixed.

ZZ Top – Summer 2024 Tour

artist european tours 2023

Such a great news that the Americana rockers make it back to Europe. The likely most well-known long beards of the music industry come back after five years – and play quite a couple of shows in 2024:

Sea Girls – Midnight Butterfly Tour

artist european tours 2023

Listening to the title track of their 2024 album, I just had to add the Sea Girls to my tour list. The British indie-pop band comes with an amazing sound. I am sure having them on stage will be great fun. They also play a few festivals in summer.

Needtobreathe – The Caves World Tour

artist european tours 2023

Germany, Netherlands and the United Kingdom are the tour stops of Needtobreathe. The Southern rock band majorly became famous for their songs with Christian background. Great music is guaranteed in September 2024.

Vision of Atlantis – Armada Tour 2024

artist european tours 2023

The press kit for the  Amrada  tour by the Austrian symphonic metal sounds very promising. They kick off in Vienna in mid-September and set sail all over Europe.

Tour Dates in Media Reviews

On top of the tour dates above, here are some tour dates, which I mentioned in EP or album reviews in the  Media Review section. I typically just give the link to the original post and the Tour dates in here. Again, I sort by the order of first tour date. If artists are touring in various stages with a break in between, I might cut down the list from time to time and change the sort order accordingly.

Pippo Pollina – Nell’attimo – Im Augenblick Tour 2024

Pippo pollina – nell’attimo.

January to March 2024 dates removed

Sprints – 2024 Tour

Sprints – letter to self, untamed – tour dates 2023 / 24, untamed – untamed, ticket to happiness – 2024 tour dates, ticket to happiness – aufbruch ep, the gaslight anthem – uk/eu tour 2024:, the gaslight anthem – history books, fiddler’s green – the green machine tour 2024, fiddler’s green – the green machine, past concerts / tours – covered by flyctory.com.

I'm planning to spend $5,000 to see Taylor Swift in Europe with my kids. Our floor tickets, hotel, and flights are set to cost less than our nosebleed seats in the US did.

  • I saw Taylor Swift on the US leg of The Eras Tour, and two nosebleed seats cost us $5,000.
  • My daughter and I loved the show, so I scored us floor seats for one of Swift's Poland shows.
  • Our European trip includes three VIP Swift tickets and is set to be cheaper than our seats in the US.

Insider Today

When Taylor Swift first announced her Eras Tour , I laughed when I heard colleagues had cleared their work schedules to buy tickets.

I couldn't understand why they were looking for tickets for shows hours away. I liked a few of Swift's songs, but I wasn't a "Swiftie" and didn't understand the frenzy.

That all changed when my daughter started asking intensely for tickets . And once The Eras Tour started, it became clear that it was the concert of the century. It was also nearly impossible to get tickets.

Seeing the US tour was difficult and expensive, but the show turned me into a full-on Swiftie

I didn't want my kid to miss out on this generation-defining event, but I couldn't stomach spending $4,000 or more on the resale market for two nosebleed seats on top of travel costs to another city.

Fortunately, five cousins chipped in to buy my daughter tickets for her birthday.

My daughter, a devoted Swiftie, predictably loved every second of The Eras Tour. At first, I wasn't sure how I would get through a 3 ½-hour show by an artist I barely knew — but I left in awe of Swift's talent.

Related stories

In the weeks that followed, I listened exclusively to Swift. On a trip to Nashville, I sang my heart out to Swift's songs at the Country Music Hall of Fame. I wondered whether I would be able to see her perform again, this time going all in.

Getting tickets to see Swift in Poland was easier than I expected

As soon as Swift announced international dates on her tour in June, I took the first of many steps to get tickets to one of her shows abroad. I set my sights on a show in Warsaw, Poland, for several reasons.

My children and I are Polish citizens but have never set foot in the country. I've wanted to go for years, and snagging Swift tickets would allow me to finally make the trip. I reasoned that Warsaw was unlikely to be as popular as marquee destinations like Paris. It's also a less expensive city than many other international stops on The Eras Tour.

Also, tickets for the Warsaw show were not being sold through Ticketmaster. I found the idea of not having to deal with the company that botched sales to the US leg of the tour very appealing.

A few days before tickets went on sale, I got a code for the chance to buy tickets before they became available to the rest of the public. Based on how popular presales were in the US , I knew I was unlikely to get tickets, but I set an alarm for 5 a.m. anyway.

Much to my surprise, I was able to enter the ticket-buying portal right away. I scored three VIP floor seats for the first night of Swift's Eras Tour in Warsaw for less than $1,000. My daughter, my son, and I started making friendship bracelets immediately to exchange with other concert-goers, an Eras Tour tradition.

Our trip hasn't happened yet, but I already know it'll be worth it

Although tickets to the Warsaw show were not cheap, the total cost plus our European trip is set to be about the same as or less than the two nosebleed seats I got when I saw Swift in the US.

I hope to use credit-card points to book our flights, but even if I don't, I estimate the total cost of the trip could be from $4,000 to $5,000. This isn't significantly more than my family usually spends on our annual family vacation, and I have more than a year to save.

However, unlike other family vacations, this one comes with the chance to explore our roots and see a new part of the world. I never would have guessed that Swift would be what finally got me to Poland, but it's just one more reason for me to love her.

Eden Golan, Israel's representative for the 2024 Eurovision song contest in Malmo, Sweden.

Eurovision hits out at ‘targeted social media campaigns’ against artists

Statement comes amid reports that Israel’s singer Eden Golan has received death threats

Organisers of the Eurovision song contest have hit out at “targeted social media campaigns” against competitors amid reports of threats against the singer for Israel.

This year’s competition, to take place in May in Sweden, has been rocked by controversy over Israel’s participation at a time when its war with Hamas has left Gaza in tatters.

The European Broadcasting Union acknowledged in a statement “the depth of feeling and the strong opinions that this year’s Eurovision song contest – set against the backdrop of a terrible war in the Middle East – has provoked”.

While expressing understanding that “people will want to engage in debate and express their deeply held views on this matter”, it raised concerns about “targeted social media campaigns” against some artists.

The statement did not name the performers in questions, but it came amid reports that Israeli singer Eden Golan, 20, has received death threats through her Instagram account.

“While we strongly support freedom of speech and the right to express opinions in a democratic society, we firmly oppose any form of online abuse, hate speech, or harassment directed at our artists or any individuals associated with the contest,” the EBU statement said.

Targeting Eurovision artists was “unacceptable and totally unfair”, it said.

It highlighted that “the decision to include any broadcaster, including the Israeli broadcaster Kan, in the Eurovision song contest is the sole responsibility of the EBU’s governing bodies and not that of the individual artists”.

“These artists come to Eurovision to share their music, culture and the universal message of unity through the language of music.”

Israel’s public broadcaster is an EBU member and can therefore take part in the Eurovision contest.

The EBU did however force Israel to change the lyrics of Golan’s song October Rain, deeming it too political, which is against Eurovision rules.

The initial entry was widely considered to reference the victims of Hamas’s 7 October attack in Israel, which sparked the war in Gaza.

But last month, Eurovision agreed she could take part with a second entry, Hurricane, which features the same music but different lyrics.

EBU said it was “dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for all participants, staff and fans of the Eurovision song contest”.

“We urge everyone to engage in respectful and constructive dialogue and support the artists who are working tirelessly – on what is a music and entertainment show – to share their music with the world.”

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Solar eclipse maps show 2024 totality path, peak times and how much of the eclipse people could see across the U.S.

By Aliza Chasan

Updated on: April 9, 2024 / 5:00 AM EDT / CBS News

A total solar eclipse  crossed North America Monday with parts of 15 U.S. states within the path of totality. Maps show  where and when astronomy fans could see the big event  as skies darkened in the middle of the day Monday, April 8.

The total eclipse first appeared along Mexico's Pacific Coast at around 11:07 a.m. PDT, then traveled across a swath of the U.S., from Texas to Maine, and into Canada.

About 31.6 million people live in the path of totality , the area where the moon fully blocked out the sun , according to NASA. The path ranged between 108 and 122 miles wide. An additional 150 million people live within 200 miles of the path of totality.

Solar eclipse path of totality map for 2024

United states map showing the path of the 2024 solar eclipse and specific regions of what the eclipse duration will be.

The total solar eclipse started over the Pacific Ocean, and the first location in continental North America that experienced totality was Mexico's Pacific Coast, around 11:07 a.m. PDT, according to NASA. From there, the path continued into Texas, crossing more than a dozen states before the eclipse enters Canada in southern Ontario. The eclipse exited continental North America at around 5:16 p.m. NDT from Newfoundland, Canada.

The path of totality included portions of the following states:

  • Pennsylvania
  • New Hampshire

Small parts of Tennessee and Michigan also experienced the total solar eclipse.

Several major cities across the U.S. were included in the eclipse's path of totality, while many others saw a partial eclipse. These were some of the best major cities for eclipse viewing — though the weather was a factor :

  • San Antonio, Texas (partially under the path)
  • Austin, Texas
  • Waco, Texas
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Little Rock, Arkansas
  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Dayton, Ohio
  • Cleveland, Ohio
  • Buffalo, New York
  • Rochester, New York
  • Syracuse, New York
  • Burlington, Vermont

Map of when the solar eclipse reached totality across its path

The eclipse began in the U.S. as a partial eclipse beginning at 12:06 p.m. CDT near Eagle Pass, Texas, before progressing to totality by about 1:27 p.m. CDT and then moving along its path to the northeast over the following few hours.

Eclipse map of totality

NASA shared times for several cities in the path of totality across the U.S. People could have also  checked their ZIP code on NASA's map  to see when the eclipse was to reach them if they were on, or near, the path of totality — or if they saw a partial eclipse instead.

How much of the eclipse did people see if they live outside the totality path?

While the April 8 eclipse covered a wide swath of the U.S., outside the path of totality observers may have spotted a partial eclipse, where the moon covers some, but not all, of the sun, according to NASA. The closer they were to the path of totality, the larger the portion of the sun that was hidden.

NASA allowed viewers to input a ZIP code and see how much of the sun was to be covered in their locations.

Could there be cloud cover be during the solar eclipse?

Some areas along the path of totality had a higher likelihood of cloud cover that could interfere with viewing the eclipse. Here is a map showing the historical trends in cloud cover this time of year.

You could have checked the latest forecast for your location with our partners at The Weather Channel .

United States map showing the percent of cloud cover in various regions of the eclipse path on April 8. The lakeshore region will be primarily affected.

Where did the solar eclipse reach totality for the longest?

Eclipse viewers near Torreón, Mexico, got to experience totality for the longest. Totality there lasted 4 minutes, 28 seconds, according to NASA.

Most places along the centerline of the path of totality saw a totality duration of between 3.5 and 4 minutes, according to NASA. Some places in the U.S. came close to the maximum; Kerrville, Texas, had a totality duration of 4 minutes, 24 seconds.

What is the path of totality for the 2044 solar eclipse?

The next total solar eclipse that will be visible from the contiguous U.S. will be on Aug. 23, 2044.

Astronomy fans in the U.S. will have far fewer opportunities to see the 2044 eclipse they had on April 8. NASA has not yet made maps available for the 2044 eclipse but, according to The Planetary Society , the path of totality will only touch three states.

The 2024 eclipse will start in Greenland, pass over Canada and end as the sun sets in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota, according to the Planetary Society.
