The announcement photo may look familiar to fans, as she donned the same glittery attire on the cover of her seventh studio album. Bey also added “Renaissance World Tour” on her Instagram bio, further accenting the news. Last week, Beyonce performed a full concert for the first time in four years at a luxury resort in Dubai in front of influencers and journalists. The 19-song set included a collaboration with her oldest daughter Blue Ivy as the two performed “Brown Skin Girl,” which earned them a Grammy two years ago for best music video.

Crowned a triumphant win by music lovers, Renaissance stormed to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last year and rattled off two Hot 100 top 10 hits, including her chart-topper “Break My Soul.” The dance-centric album also notched nine Grammy nominations, the most for any nominee for this year’s ceremony. Bey is looking to rack up more trophy wins, as she currently sits at a staggering 28 wins. Nominated for album of the year, song, and record of the year, Bey is facing some stout competition , especially in the former. The R&B juggernaut will tango against Adele, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, and more for album of the year. A win in this category would serve as Beyonce’s first. The 65th Grammy Awards will occur Sunday night in Los Angeles at 8 pm EST.

Beyoncé returned to the stage for first time in four years in January

Last month, Beyoncé made her return to the stage and performed at the opening of the Atlantis The Royal hotel in Dubai. Despite the luxury experience, the singer left fans wanting more, as she did not perform any songs from "Renaissance," The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The invitation-only event marked her first concert in more than four years. She last performed at the  Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 event in 2018.

Beyoncé dominates Grammy nominations

The singer's tour announcement comes days ahead of the Grammys where Beyoncé leads the 2023 lineup with nine nominations, including best dance/electronic album ("Renaissance"), best R&B performance ("Virgo’s Groove") and best traditional R&B performance ("Plastic Off the Sofa").

With 28 wins and 88 total career nominations, Beyoncé now ties her husband, rapper Jay-Z , for the most nominations in Grammy history. If Beyoncé picks up four or more awards this year, she will surpass the late Georg Solti for the most Grammy wins of all time. (The Hungarian-born conductor holds the record with 31.)

Beyoncé called out by Monica Lewinsky: over 'Partition' lyric after ableism controversy

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have got "to be the most intense power couple in the history of music," Recording Academy president Harvey Mason Jr. Mason said after the nominations were revealed. "That’s music and Grammy royalty – that’s the royal family."

Their combined 176 nominations are "absolutely a testament to their talent, to their level of excellence, to their work ethic, to their level of greatness over a long period of time. I don’t even know what the next (leading) couple would be, but it’s not anywhere close.”

Beyoncé's 'Break My Soul.' Taylor Swift's 'Anti-Hero.'  These are the 10 best songs of 2022, ranked.

Beyoncé noticeably was not nominated in any of the music video categories for the Grammys, having not released any album visuals for "Renaissance" since its debut.

Beyoncé Announces Renaissance World Tour 2023 with Stops in 25 U.S. Cities

The "Crazy in Love" singer confirmed the hugely anticipated stadium tour on Instagram Wednesday morning

beyonce tour plan 2023

Beyoncé is back, baby!

The singer, who is up for nine Grammys this Sunday , revealed her Renaissance World Tour 2023 on Wednesday morning in an Instagram post — coincidentally, (or perhaps, very strategically!) six years to the day she announced her surprise pregnancy with twins .

The highly anticipated tour — produced by Parkwood Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation — is set to kick off in Europe on May 10 at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden before touring overseas in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sunderland, Paris, London, Marseille, Amsterdam, Warsaw and more.

A North American leg of the tour begins on July 8 in Toronto, Canada before hitting 25 U.S. cities including Philadelphia, Nashville, Louisville, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, East Rutherford, Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Atlanta, Tampa, Miami, St. Louis, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Inglewood, Vancouver, Seattle, Kansas City, Dallas, and Houston.

The tour is currently scheduled to wrap on Sept. 27 in New Orleans.

For complete ticket information, visit tour.beyonce.com .

Beyonce's last tour was 2018's On the Run tour which hit 48 cities in North America and Europe. Beyoncé last performed a full concert back in 2018, when she and JAY-Z, 53, appeared at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 event .

The tour announcement comes just over one week after Queen Bey performed her first full concert in more than four years, when she performed an hour-long set at the new Atlantis The Royal Resort in Dubai.

For more on Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour announcement, listen below to our daily podcast PEOPLE Every Day.

Moving through a decade of iconic hits, Beyoncé, 41, performed staples such as "Crazy in Love," "Beautiful Liar" and "Naughty Girl," as well as more recent tunes including "Freedom," "Spirit" and "Be Alive."

The singer wore a set of dazzling looks during the performance, including a yellow custom-made Atelier Zuhra corseted dress, which was topped with a feathered skirt and matching backpiece, when she opened the show performing a cover of Etta James ' "At Last."

Then, the mother of three changed into another custom gown, an all-red Nicolas Jebran ensemble composed of a skin-tight bodysuit that was decorated with gold jewels across her torso and chest. She accessorized the look with a matching, billowing skirt and an intricate headpiece.

Notably missing from Beyoncé's set was any song from Renaissance .

Where can you get tickets?

Tickets for the North American leg of the tour will be available through Ticketmaster's Verified Fan program. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Feb 6, with an exclusive presale to BeyHive members, according to a Live Nation press release.

Verified Fan registration is now open. Once you register, you'll be placed in a lottery system that determines which fans get invited to purchase tickets. Registration alone doesn't guarantee tickets. If you're selected, you'll get an access code the day before tickets go on sale. Everyone else will be placed on a waitlist. According to Live Nation, this process is intended to help Ticketmaster weed out the resellers and verify your account so that actual fans get priority to buy tickets.

Citi cardmembers will have a special Citi Presale after the Verified Fan process. Get more details here . Verizon will also offer an exclusive presale through their customer loyalty program Verizon Up .

Will Beyoncé be using Ticketmaster like Taylor Swift to sell tickets?

Yes, but given what happened with Taylor Swift's Eras tour (and the fact it led to Congressional hearings about Ticketmaster ’s practices), it seems very likely both Beyoncé and Ticketmaster would want to avoid repeating that mess. That most likely explains the usage of the Verified Fan system.

Where will Beyoncé be playing?

The Renaissance World Tour will hit 40 cities in North America and across Europe. Stops include Paris, London, Amsterdam, Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Houston, and many more.

What has Beyoncé said about the Renaissance World Tour?

She just announced it was happening with a post on February 1. Her website didn't immediately contain any more details. But during the Wearable Art Gala in October 2022, she appeared to confirm it would start this summer, as a backstage tour with her mother Tina Lawson was up for auction at the event.

Will Beyoncé be performing at the Grammys (on February 5) and sharing more tour details there?

Not clear yet, but she is the most nominated artist at the ceremony . On January 21, Variety reported that “ talks with show producers are ongoing for a possible onstage appearance ” by Beyoncé.

What can we expect from the tour on stage?

Beyoncé hasn't shared that yet either, but given the artistry she put into her recent Dubai show , it's fair to say we can expect no less than excellence, elaborate costumes, and an incredible experience.

This post will be updated the moment more detail is released.

As expected, Beyoncé has announced a 2023 world tour on Instagram, supporting her multiple-Grammy-nominated 2022 album, “Renaissance.” She also released the dates and cities on her official website.

The timing of the announcement, which comes just days before the Grammy Awards on Sunday, sparks speculation that the singer may perform or at least appear on the show. Beyoncé is the most nominated artist for the awards with nine, all related to “ Renaissance .” Sources tell Variety that her husband Jay-Z will perform with DJ Khaled on the show, most likely their nominated song “God Did.”

Beyoncé has said that “Renaissance” is a three-part project, so it’s possible that the next parts could be another album, a long-form video project or even the tour itself.

Beyoncé’s last full tour was the nearly six-month, 49-date “Formation” tour in 2016, which unusually featured no guest appearances until the final show, at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, where she brought out Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z.

She did, however, stage an epochal “Homecoming” headlining performance at the 2018 Coachella festival — which was postponed from 2017 due to the birth of her and Jay’s twins — for which she was accompanied by a full marching band in a nod to historically Black colleges and universities. That blockbuster performance was later released as the “Homecoming” album and — via a three-project deal with Netflix that sources tell Variety is worth $60 million — a feature-length documentary. It seems possible that a future “Renaissance” video project could be part of that deal as well.

Beyoncé Announces ‘Renaissance’ 2023 World Tour

Another Ticketmaster war is on the horizon as the BeyHive prepares for battle. After weeks of speculation, Beyoncé has officially confirmed a world tour in support of Renaissance , scheduled to make stops in stadiums across the world in 2023 .

The musician confirmed the news on Wednesday morning. The tour will begin in Europe this May before landing in North America on July 8 with back-to-back nights at Toronto’s Rogers Centre. The tour will make stops in Philadelphia, Nashville, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and more.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce)

The Renaissance tour marks Beyoncé’s first extended stretch on the road since the On the Run tour, which made 48 stops across North America and Europe in 2018. Those shows were proceeded by the singer’s redefining Coachella performance, which arrived as the Netflix concert film Homecoming the following year.

The clips sparked multiple viral moments, the most notable being Beyoncé’s new vocal arrangements on familiar records, including “Drunk in Love” and “Countdown.” The private concert, notably, did not include any Renaissance tracks on the setlist, even the chart-topping lead single “Break My Soul.”

The tour announcement arrives as a saving grace for a starved BeyHive, still yearning for any meaningful visual companion pieces to the singer’s acclaimed seventh studio album. If Beyoncé is heading on the road again, maybe the wait for the music videos she teased in the record release trailer won’t be too much longer.

“As is customary for her, she layers the album with enough totems to fuel a million think pieces and dissertations,” Rolling Stone shared of Renaissance . “Yet it’s also possible to simply dance and vibe to the music. This is Beyoncé at her joyous peak, and you won’t get it unless you pull the “plastic off the sofa,” “drop it like a thottie,” and enjoy Queen Bey at her thrilling best.”

Beyoncé Announces Renaissance World Tour

The star’s first solo tour since 2016 will start May 10 in Stockholm.

Beyoncé smiles widely at the Grammys podium, wearing a black dress with a plunging neckline.

By Joe Coscarelli

For the first time since 2016 — a world before Beychella , Covid-19 and “Renaissance” — Beyoncé will headline a solo tour, the singer announced in a social media post on Wednesday.

Beginning on May 10 in Stockholm, and continuing in Europe through June before coming to North America, the Renaissance World Tour, in support of her seventh solo album, will run for at least 40 dates, largely in stadiums, according to dates posted to Beyoncé’s website . The tour includes one night at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey (July 29) and one at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. (Sept. 2) amid stops in Chicago, Philadelphia, Toronto, Atlanta, Phoenix and Miami.

Limited tickets for certain tour dates will go on sale beginning Monday for members of Beyoncé’s BeyHive fan club, followed by the staggered release of additional tickets by market, using a complex registration system for various tiers of buyer.

The tour, produced by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation, will use Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan system , which aims to limit bots and professional scalpers, marking one of the first major tests for Ticketmaster since extraordinary demand for early tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour last year led to fan backlash and regulatory scrutiny . At a Senate Judiciary hearing last month spurred by the botched presale, artists, fans and politicians cast Live Nation Entertainment, the concert industry giant that owns Ticketmaster, as a monopoly that hinders competition and harms consumers.

Beyoncé’s shows will be the singer’s first live events available to the public since the On the Run II tour with her husband, Jay-Z, in 2018, tied to the surprise release of a joint album, “Everything Is Love,” by the duo billed as the Carters. Beyoncé last toured alone behind her previous solo album, “Lemonade,” in 2016. Two years later, she headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

That show — which went on to be released as “Homecoming” (2019), a live album and concert film — was called “rich with history, potently political and visually grand” in a review by the New York Times critic Jon Caramanica. “By turns uproarious, rowdy, and lush. A gobsmacking marvel of choreography and musical direction.”

In the years since, Beyoncé has surfaced intermittently, including with songs like “Black Parade,” which won a Grammy Award for best R&B performance, and “Be Alive,” which appeared in the movie “King Richard” and was nominated for an Oscar. Last year, in a taped performance, Beyoncé performed the song at the 94th annual Academy Awards.

But the singer made a return to the pop mainstream in earnest with the July 2022 release of “Renaissance,” a dance-floor-oriented album that she said was inspired by the L.G.B.T.Q. community and has spawned hits like “Break My Soul” and “Cuff It.” At the Grammy Awards on Sunday, Beyoncé is nominated nine times , with a chance to become the most-awarded artist in history.

Upon its release, the singer called “Renaissance” part of a “three act project” that she recorded during the pandemic. “My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment,” she wrote of the album, which was billed as Act I. “A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom.”

Major music touring has largely recovered, especially at its highest levels, since the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the industry trade publication Pollstar , touring grossed a record-setting $6.28 billion last year, up more than 13 percent from 2019, due in part to pent-up fan demand, inflation and major acts like Bad Bunny, Elton John and Harry Styles.

In addition to Beyoncé’s shows, this year will see blockbuster tours from artists including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Metallica, Morgan Wallen and Madonna.

Last month, Beyoncé proved more polarizing than usual when she headlined the grand opening of a luxury hotel in Dubai, performing for an invite-only collection of guests, including influencers and journalists.

While some fans decried the optics of taking a major payday in a place that criminalizes homosexuality — “Beyoncé’s Dubai performance isn’t just an affront to LGBTQ+ fans, but workers’ rights in the UAE,” The Guardian declared — others noted that the singer’s set list did not yet include songs from “Renaissance.”

An earlier version of this article misstated the year Beyoncé headlined Coachella. It was 2018, not 2016.

What will the stage be like for the Renaissance World Tour?

According to reports, the stage for Bey's tour is set to be huge.

A source close to the production revealed that: "The structure for the stage is gigantic and on a totally different scale from any other tour right now – that’s why she needed a huge venue to rehearse in.

And she can’t run through the show in any of the stadiums she is performing in because they aren’t soundproofed and people would hear what she was preparing.

She is on top form and is pulling out all the stops to make this a truly groundbreaking tour."

Everything we know about the Beyoncé Renaissance World Tour 2023

Alert the BeyHive!

Virginia Gil

Beyoncé is embarking on a world tour this summer and, naturally, the BeyHive is abuzz. She'll be crossing continents in support of her seventh studio album, Rennaisance , traveling from Stockholm to Warsaw to New York City to Miami as she hits more than 40 cities on this two-leg adventure spanning from May through September.

The last time our queen hit the road on a headlining tour, the year was 2016 and buying concert tickets isn't the disaster it is today. This was before the Taylor Swift debacle and the cringe-y Ticketmaster hearing in congress (Who knew so many senators were Swifties?). That said, getting your hands on tickets will require some strategic planning and preparation (and might break your soul).

Below, we've outlined everything you need to know about Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour 2023, from which cities she'll hit to what you need to do ahead of time in order to buy tickets.

How can I get tickets for the Beyoncé Renaissance World Tour?

First, you'll need to register as a verified fan . This genius step will, hopefully, keep what happened to Swifties from affecting the BeyHive by filtering out buyers looking to resell tickets. Registration does not guarantee tickets but will create a better ticket-buying experience for fans.

Shows are grouped together for registration, and you'll need to sign up for each group should you want to buy tickets for multiple shows. Deadlines to register vary by city, so be sure to check the dates for your desired tour stop before the window closes.

No official on-sale dates have been announced, but the type of registration you sign up for (BeyHive Verified Fan, Citi Verified Fan or Verified Fan Onsale) will determine how quickly you can potentially "get in line" for tickets. The key takeaway, for now, should be to pre-register and check your emails regularly for updates on the next steps.

A Comprehensive Guide to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter

beyonce tour plan 2023

Beyoncé releasing a new album is an event. Not only because she is one of the biggest pop stars in the world, but also because her music begs to be dissected with a fine-tooth comb. We started seeing her develop projects more focused on looking at a particular subject from different angles and exploring new genres with her music in 2016 with the release of Lemonade , a vulnerable album on which she openly calls out her husband’s infidelity. In 2022, she released Renaissance , a treasure trove of samples, interpolations, songwriters, producers, history, references, glitz, and glamor celebrating the queer ballroom community that had a hand in igniting the house genre. Cowboy Carter , released today after seven weeks of growing anticipation, builds on this idea of paying homage to the Black musical pioneers who paved the way.

This album has been in the making for the past five years. When Beyoncé released the album artwork earlier this month, she wrote in an Instagram caption that the project was “born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed.” Many speculated that she was referring to her 2016 CMAs performance of “Daddy Lessons” with the Chicks, who themselves had their own rocky history with the country establishment. The performance was divisive, and some detractors did not even bother to hide the racism baked into their rejection of it.

She went on to write in the caption, “The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me. Act II is a result of challenging myself, and taking my time to bend and blend genres together to create this body of work.” In a press release put out on Friday, Beyoncé said that she initially planned to release Cowboy Carter before Renaissance , but the COVID-19 pandemic made her change her mind. “There was too much heaviness in the world,” she says. “We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance. But I had to trust God’s timing.”

Read More: Everything We Know About Beyoncé's New Album Cowboy Carter

Cowboy Carter is dense with cultural references—incorporating the voices of country legends like Linda Martell, Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton while also uplifting younger Black country talent like Tanner Adell, Shaboozey, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, and Reyna Roberts. On the album, Beyoncé also reveals a bit more of herself in a few songs including, in one, her feelings on losing out on Album of the Year at the Grammys.

Here’s everything we learned from Beyoncé’s new album, Cowboy Carter .

Beyoncé traverses through country music history

Just as Renaissance can be seen as a textbook for understanding the early years of the house music genre, Cowboy Carter functions similarly, stretching across country history with a particular eye toward the contributions of Black artists. The opening track, “American Requiiem,” begins with a proclamation that country music needs to change to keep it from going extinct. “Hello, my old friend,” she says, seemingly addressing the genre as a whole. “You change your name but not the ways you play pretend.” The song symbolizes the birth of the genre and the genesis of country is further touched upon with the inclusion of Willie Nelson, who helped popularize the genre of “outlaw country” in the 1960s.

As the album continues, we get voice notes from two women—who are arguably the most influential female country music artists—Linda Martell and Dolly Parton. Parton has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling musical artists of all time. Martell is the first Black woman to achieve commercial success in the country music space after getting a song in the top 25 of the Billboard Country Songs chart in 1969 with “Color Him Father,” though her later career was stymied by what she described as blacklisting. She was also the first Black woman to play the Grand Ole Opry. Beyoncé goes on to highlight the future of country music as one that embraces dalliances with other genres, as she blends hip-hop into tracks on the last third of the album (and “Spaghettii,” which is on the first half of the album).

Her “Blackbird” cover holds deep significance

Beyoncé has become more intentional in more recent years with every facet of her musical projects. She isn’t known to cover songs, so to have two covers on her latest album is noteworthy. One of the covers is of the Beatles’ 1968 song, “Blackbird” (which she stylizes as “Blackbiird”) and features four young Black female country artists: Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, and Reyna Roberts. Beyoncé’s decision to cover the song holds significant meaning given that McCartney has said it was inspired by Black women in the civil rights movement. For more on the history of that song, read an explainer by my colleague Cady Lang, here .

Beyoncé gets personal on tracks about being both a parent and a daughter

Fans of Beyoncé got a taste of what the new album would touch on in February when she announced Act II was on its way and released two singles, “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em.” The former is a pensive track that sees Beyoncé thinking about how quickly she grew up as her star ascended at such a young age when she was in Destiny’s Child. On the album, this song sweetly flows into “Protector,” a track about maternal love, which features the voice of her daughter, Rumi, asking if she can hear a lullaby. Beyoncé gracefully croons about being proud of who she is and proud to be a good mother because she knows her kids need her.

On “Daughter,” she gives the world a taste of her operatic vocals as she sings the famous Italian aria “Caro Mio Ben.” The song seems to call back to her 2016 track “Daddy Lessons,” in which she talks about how children learn behaviors from their fathers. In “Daughter,” she says, “If you cross me, I’m just like my father,” and describes the aftermath of a violent altercation.

She reflects on losing Album of the Year at the 2023 Grammys

Over time, Beyoncé has become less concerned with chasing accolades, at least overtly. She is the most awarded artist in Grammy history but has yet to win a statue in the Album of the Year category. She doesn’t seem too concerned, though, and makes that nonchalance known on “Sweet Honey Buckin’,” on which she raps, “A-O-T-Y, I ain't win ( That's cool )/ I ain't stuntin' 'bout them/ Take that sh-t on the chin/ Come back and f-ck up the pen.” Her most recent loss at the Grammys highlighted a long history of the Recording Academy’s overlooking Black women in the major categories. Jay-Z mentioned the snub at this year’s awards ceremony , “I don't want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than anyone and never won Album of the Year.”

The first time we heard Beyoncé say she doesn’t worry about accolades was on “Nice,” off her 2018 collaboration album with her husband, The Carters . She says, “ If I gave two f-cks, two f-cks about streaming numbers, would have put Lemonade up on Spotify ,” referring to how she initially only had the album available on Tidal for the first three years of its release. In 2023, Beyoncé seemed like a shoo-in for Album of the Year, after multiple publications named Renaissance as their top pick for best album of the year.

Beyoncé changed the lyrics of “Jolene”

Recently, Dolly Parton teased that Beyoncé had recorded a cover of her hit 1973 song “Jolene.” But in Bey’s version, she changes the meaning of by swapping new lyrics into the famed tune—instead of a plea, it’s a warning. Read more about the significance of Beyoncé’s version of “Jolene” here .

Dolly Parton reacts to Beyoncé’s cover of her song ‘Jolene’: “Wow, I just heard Jolene. Beyoncé is giving that girl some trouble and she deserves it!” pic.twitter.com/bpoabPEpLh — Pop Base (@PopBase) March 29, 2024

She makes a literal connection between Act I and Act II

Thematically, the connection between these two albums is clear. Beyoncé is utilizing her platform and extensive knowledge of music history to highlight underrepresented figures in genres pioneered by Black artists. She does that in the samples she chooses, as well as the artists she invites to be songwriters and collaborators. As everyone sifts through the references Beyoncé hid throughout Cowboy Carter , featured artist Post Malone makes that connection quite literally. On the outro of “Levii’s Jeans,” he says: “ Need you all night long, you're my Renaissance .”

She makes brilliant use of interludes

Three country music icons act as guides for the listeners on Cowboy Carter . They break up the album and introduce a few of the tracks. Willie Nelson gets two “Smoke Hour” show interludes, Dolly Parton leaves a sweet message for Beyoncé in a voicemail and calls her “Honey B,” and Linda Martell is honored with “The Linda Martell Show.” Read Cady on the significance of these interlude and artists here .

She makes a field day of breaking genre conventions on “Spaghettii,” “Riiverdance,” “Tyrant, and Sweet Honey Buckiin’”

On Cowboy Carter , Beyoncé highlights the future of country music by not only inviting young Black country acts like Willie Jones, Shaboozey, and the women featured on “Backbiird,” but by exemplifying some of the ways in which the genre is being flipped on its head. She builds on the sentiment she shared that this album isn’t a country album, “it’s a Beyoncé album.” “Spaghettii” is a fascinating track, on which she fires off a rant against those who claim she’s not country enough. In a braggadocious rap, she compares herself to Thanos (referencing his quest to collect all six Infinity Stones—this could be a nod to her easily navigating different genres and collecting each one in the same way). “Riiverdance” also takes influences from and fuses together house and a funky, plucky banjo. “Tyrant” and “Sweet Honey Buckiin” push country to its limits as Bey mixes trap and hip-hop sounds across the two songs.

happy COWBOY CARTER day. What an honour it is to being able to contribute my small piece to this beautiful album, and to THE @beyonce who continues to inspire all of us. Cowboy Carter is a spectacle in its expansiveness and being a country album no less, a genre we have seen Beyoncé seldom explore. With one more project left, the rumor mill has been circulating that the third album will be a rock album—another genre pioneered by Black people where their history is often erased. But before that, Beyoncé fans are waiting to see if music videos will be released with this album, since she didn’t put out videos with Renaissance and instead released a concert tour movie. So few things are as exciting as waiting to see what surprises Beyoncé has up her sleeve.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour began with a bang in Stockholm and it hasn't slowed down since. The highly-anticipated show has featured inventive set design, a decades-spanning setlist, and a plethora of standout style moments—from to archival pieces to custom looks and nearly everything in between. The star’s wardrobe has combined her signature style with the visual ethos of the album Renaissance ( think lots of sequins, silver, catsuits, and the occasional bee-inspired look). The patent calfskin choice are from the brand’s spring/summer 2023 collection in which the heel is designed to mimick the shape of two legs.

Beyoncé wears a custom Lanvin silver metallic jumpsuit during her "Renaissance" world tour.

This silver cut-out number may just be Beyoncé’s most disco-ready jumpsuit yet. Custom designed by Lanvin, the piece featured the brand’s signature gold hardware as well as ruching throughout. To round things out, Beyoncé accessorized the look with equally as flashy opera gloves and above-the-knee boots.

Beyoncé wears a custom Tiffany & Co. look during her "Renaissance" world tour.

Beyoncé traded her tour wardrobe of silver and gold for some Tiffany blue while in Chicago, Illinois. The look was created in partnership with designer Giles Deacon and featured a sculptural bodice and sheer organza gloves. She paired the dress with, of course, a custom Tiffany & Co. Twister Collar Necklace.

Beyoncé wears a custom Acne Studios bustier, shorts, and jacket during her 'Renaissance' world tour.

Beyoncé’s Acne Studios ensemble may have nailed the Barbie pink look, but it certainly did not disappoint during her Minneapolis show. She paired her reflective mini shorts and bustier with an oversized jacket and sparkling thigh-high boots.

Beyoncé wears a custom Schiaparelli feathered mini dress and cape during her Renaissance world tour.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance wardrobe isn’t just limited to bodysuits—she’s also been incorporating dramatic ensembles like this custom Schiaparelli mini dress and shawl. The strapless piece featured white feathered detailing which she paired with simple Dolce & Gabbana heels.

Beyoncé wears a custom Balmain bodysuit during her Renaissance world tour.

Balmain has been a focal point of Beyoncé’s Renaissance wardrobe and things got taken up a notch during her stop in Minneapolis. The singer opted for a sculptural latex bodysuit that she accessorized with knee-high boots, shield sunglasses, and a brimmed top hat.

Beyoncé wears a custom Marine Serre bodysuit and chain bra during her Renaissance world tour.

Beyoncé stunned in silver with this custom Marine Serre look. The star wore a fitted bodysuit, complete with the brand’s signature moon motif, as well as chain undergarments layered on top. She added in a brimmed hat and silver boots for good measure, too.

Beyoncé wears a custom Alexander McQueen look during her Renaissance world tour.

This custom Alexander McQueen bodysuit is a riff on a similar look from the brand’s fall/winter 2016 collection. The semi-sheer piece features sequin horse embroidery and a tulle base.

Beyoncé wears a custom Diesel bodysuit during her "Renaissance" world tour

It’s no secret that Beyoncé has been all in on the bodysuit style throughout her tour. But this custom Diesel look for her Louisville, Kentucky show may just be one of her most unique styles thus far. The trompe l’oeil look featured a print mimicking denim and grey crystals throughout. And to round things out, the piece’s boots and gloves were connected to the main portion of the ensemble.

Beyoncé wears a custom Raisa Vanessa sequined mini dress during her "Renaissance" world tour

Alexander McQueen was a staple throughout Beyoncé’s European performances, so it’s no surprise that she’s returned to the British brand when stateside. During her Nashville concert, the singer wore a custom bodysuit, gloves, and boots complete with crystal embroidery. She stopped it off with a UFO-shaped chapeau appropriate for an alien superstar. The outfit seemed to be a shorter version of a look she wore earlier on in the tour.

Beyoncé wears a custom red David Koma look during her "Renaissance" world tour.

The singer opted for another dazzling custom look from David Koma. Unlike her previous printed mini dress from the British designer, this red number had plenty of sequins throughout as well as an asymmetrical train detail. She rounded things out with patent leather boots, a ruby belt, and pendant necklace.

Beyoncé wears a custom Ivy Park pink bodysuit during her Renaissance world tour.

The McQueen look wasn’t the only repurposed silhouette Beyoncé wore in Nashville. She opted for a pink Ivy Park jacket, halter top, and shorts that are, again, a shorter iteration of a similar bodysuit she previously wore in Europe. She also mixed in a pair of custom Tiffany & Co. sunglasses and Gedebe boots to make things even more Renaissance worthy.

Beyoncé wears a custom Valentino look during the Philadelphia stop of her 'Renaissance' world tour.

Beyoncé certainly leaned into some drama (and disco) with this custom Valentino look in Philadelphia. The focal point was the seemingly never-ending sequined train that connected to the pouf bodice of the bodysuit. She paired the flashy piece with coordinating boots, and towards the end of the show, she flew above the crowd in this look while mounted on a horse.

Beyoncé has been wearing plenty of Tiffany & Co. jewelry throughout her tour, but she took it to another level for her first North American stop in Toronto, Canada. The singer donned a dazzling bespoke mini dress from the brand complete with layers of chains and stones. The mesh look of the piece was inspired by the designs of Elsa Peretti and took nearly 200 hours to make. Beyoncé paired the piece with custom Malone Souliers heels as well as vintage earrings and an anklet both from Tiffany & Co.

Beyoncé wears a custom Fendi look during the Toronto stop of her 'Renaissance' world tour

The singer rounded out her look with velvet gloves and a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels.

Beyoncé wears a custom Richard Quinn look during her 'Renaissance' world tour in Warsaw, Poland.

While Beyoncé has had some pretty avant-garde outfits, this Richard Quinn number may be her most “Alien Superstar” yet. The look featured legging-style pants with large crystal embellishments as well as a peplum-inspired top finished with similar adornments. However, the focal point of the ensemble is certainly the UFO-like headpiece that obscured everything but the singer’s eyes.

Beyoncé wears a custom Daily Paper look during her 'Renaissance' world tour in Warsaw, Poland.

Outfitting an entire crew and Beyoncé is certainly no small feat, but global brand Daily Paper seemed to be up for the task. In addition to Beyoncé’s look, Daily Paper designed over 100 custom tracksuits for her crew and dancers, mostly in silver reflective nylon.

While Beyoncé has, seemingly, unlimited access to a never-ending roster of designers, she went with her own label Ivy Park for this pink look in Amsterdam—and rightly so. Designed by the star herself, the piece featured daring slits, opera-style gloves, and a halter neckline.

“I started designing this collection over a year ago,” she said on Instagram . “I was so engulfed in all things Renaissance and was inspired by Studio 54, Bob Mackie, and the disco era.”

Beyoncé wears a custom Jacquemus look during her concert in Marseille, France.

French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus is from Marseille, France so it’s fitting that he outfitted the singer for her tour stop there. Jacquemus, who attended the concert, designed a form-ftting mini dress, boots, and gloves that featured disco ball-esque paillettes.

“[Beyoncé] is the first singer I saw live in Marseille 15 years ago,” he wrote on Instagram . “I’m so happy and proud. What a night in Provence, means a lot.”

Cowboy Carter is the hotly anticipated follow-up to to Beyoncé's 2022 album, Renaissance .

How long have fans been speculating over the details of Beyoncé 's new album? It depends when you start counting: Some began buzzing over it the second her previous record, the dance-centric Renaissance , was released in 2022 and touted as "act one" of a trilogy. But the chatter has been especially fervent in the past two months, as singles, visuals and other teases popped up during the Grammys, Super Bowl and on the artist's own social media. The Beyhive's busiest bees analyzed clues that pointed toward a country music-inspired sound; they dissected the history of that genre, and how Black musicians have often been written out of it.

After months of anticipation, Cowboy Carter has finally arrived. Is it a country album? In many ways, yes — but it's also a sprawling work filled with disparate influences and references, while remaining a Beyoncé album at its heart. Two NPR Music staffers, reporter Sidney Madden and editor Sheldon Pearce , have been listening since the stroke of midnight. They come to you now with the 10 most important things to know about exactly what Cowboy Carter is, and is not.

Beyoncé's new album is inspired by backlash to her entering the country music genre

Beyoncé's new album is inspired by backlash to her entering the country music genre

1. It's a sprawling Western epic...

Just as Beyoncé's 2022 album, act i: RENAISSANCE , served as a world-building homage to the unsung Black queer youth who created house music, Cowboy Carter continues the lesson plan. In a statement soon after the album's worldwide release, the artist's Parkwood Entertainment shared that each song on the 27-track project is its own version of a reimagined Western film: "She took inspiration from films like Five Fingers for Marseilles , Urban Cowboy , The Hateful Eight , Space Cowboys , The Harder They Fall and Killers of the Flower Moon , often having the films playing on a screen during the recording process."

Each track, whether an interlude, collaboration or poignant solo, rides out like a full-length film full of scenic grandeur, character and conflicts that any Chitlin' Circuit aficionado or spaghetti Western cinephile can obsess over. As a whole, Cowboy Carter serves as a well of discovery, full of samples, sonic Easter eggs, Knowles family callbacks and, most importantly, an appreciation for pioneers in the country world.

2. ... with a searing image of its titular central character.

In the cowboy, Beyoncé finds her ideal figure of the American West and South. She cites the rodeo as the first place where anyone who loved country music and culture could gather and mingle and feel welcome. It's an image that runs counter to the experience that inspired the album: performing her song "Daddy Lessons" at the CMA Awards in 2016, where she has said she "did not feel welcomed ... and it was very clear that I wasn't." The Cowboy Carter character exists in conversation with the history of Black cowboys, the loaded meaning behind the term and its function in the American imagination.

Music Features

Beyoncé is getting played on country radio. could her success help other black women.

3. It's a country album...

There are plenty of categorically country sounds on Cowboy Carter . String instruments are its sonic heartbeat, and the do-si-do of the slide guitar on "DESERT EAGLE" and "TEXAS HOLD 'EM" feel perfectly matched with Bey's feathery vocals. The jovial wiggle of the accordions on "RIIVERDANCE" tip a hat to zydeco music and the artist's Creole heritage. "PROTECTOR" (featuring Beyoncé's youngest daughter, Rumi) is anchored by acoustic guitar. "SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN' " interpolates "I Fall to Pieces," the shuffling standard made famous by Patsy Cline . Compared to Bey's past work in an R&B world full of glitz and glamor, many moments on the album, even with their layered arrangements, feel like intimate jam sessions straight out of a Nashville writing camp.

4. ... and it's also not.

Across the track list, elements of hip-hop, bluegrass and Chicano rock, with pop, rock, Jersey club music and operatic runs. "YA YA" conjures the charisma of Tina Turner and Chuck Berry , while winking in the direction of Nancy Sinatra and The Beach Boys . "BODYGUARD" is a breezy surf-rock romp with Latin percussion and a little whiskey on its breath. "AMEN" rings to the rafters in true gospel splendor. "SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN' " stacks genre upon genre and yet never overwhelms, instead connecting the dots between them with dusty horse gallops. The production credits stretch far beyond the scope of country stalwarts, making the album a treasure hunt for fans and issuing a challenge to the ways country music has come to be defined.

5. It's got country and Americana icons to set the tone...

Voices from country lore appear throughout the track list, signposts for the album's deconstructions of genre. The outlaw country pioneer Willie Nelson , who once bucked the Nashville sound himself, stands in as the host of KNTRY Radio Texas, Beyoncé's fictional pirate station. Dolly Parton draws a line from Becky with the good hair to Jolene, and turns up again before "TYRANT," encouraging Beyoncé to light up a juke joint. In a prelude to one of the album's most adventurous cuts, "SPAGHETTII," Linda Martell, an undersung, trailblazing Black country star of the '70s, lays out a sort of mission statement: "Genres are a funny little concept, aren't they? Yes, they are. In theory, they have a simple definition that's easy to understand. But in practice, well, some may feel confined."

6. ... and it's flipping some old tropes.

There are covers of country classics here that stand out for how stealthily they're reimagined. Parton's 1973 hit "Jolene" shows up early in the album, but Beyoncé adds her own sauce to flip its storied narrative. A vigilant Bey (flip-flopping between being upset and unbothered) clocks the "bird" chirping round her man; unlike Dolly, who responds to a similar threat with a plea for mercy, she puts her rival on notice: " I'm warnin' you, woman, find you your own man / Jolene, I know I'm a queen, Jolene / I'm still a Creole banjee bitch from Louisianne ." This twist renegotiates the common push and pull of rolling-stone / damsel-in-distress infidelity that's historically been a hallmark in country standards, and has only recently started to shift (see also: Carrie Underwood 's "Before He Cheats").

Jay-Z and Beyoncé's blank space: The endless social climb of pop's royal couple

Jay-Z and Beyoncé's blank space

7. It gives flowers to unsung pioneers.

When Linda Martell shows up in the opening moments of "SPAGHETTII" to pose her question about genres, the slick rhetorical framing cuts to the main conceit of Cowboy Carter and centers Martell herself as a case in point. As a pioneer in the country space, Martell made history with her 1970 album, Color Me Country , and was the first Black woman to perform on the storied Grand Ole Opry. But because of the racist aggression she endured when moving from pop to country, Martell soon left the business. Now, at 82 years old, Martell's getting her due. Her voice is immortalized on both "SPAGHETTII" and "THE LINDA MARTELL SHOW," both tracks that play hopscotch with a range of genres. "I am proud that Beyoncé is exploring her country music roots," the veteran posted on Instagram . "What she is doing is beautiful, and I'm honored to be a part of it. It's Beyoncé, after all!"

8. It shines a light on the stars of country's new age.

A recent study tracking country music programming from 2000 through 2020 revealed that only 29% of country songs played on format radio were by women artists, and of that 29%, 0.01% were Black women. And so along with honoring pioneers, Cowboy Carter platforms new stars in the field who are still working their way through its entrenched gatekeeping and redlining.

Rhiannon Giddens strums her banjo on the album's lead single, "TEXAS HOLD 'EM." Virginia's Shaboozey, whose 2022 release, Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die , offered songs for a post-"Old Town Road" country-rap world, cuts through two tracks with his unforgettable tone. "BLACKBIIRD" features the vocals of four Black women — Tanner Adell , Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy and Reyna Roberts. This soulful cover of The Beatles ' classic about Black women's plights and resilience during the American Civil Rights movement puts its subjects in a spotlight that country radio rarely does, bringing home the reality that opportunities for artists like these have scarcely grown in the years since Martell broke ground.

9. It saddles up over the pop-country middle ground.

On Cowboy Carter , Beyoncé is a pop star actively in conversation with the idea of country music, and traversing the distance between those genres seems to have made her consider the existing relationship between them. In two moments on the album, she enlists singers who have been blurring that binary for quite some time: Miley Cyrus and Post Malone . Miley, of course, is the daughter of "Achy Breaky Heart" sensation Billy Ray Cyrus , and in her own pursuit of a pop identity, fiddled with Mike WiLL trap, Flaming Lips psychedelia, glam rock and country pop before settling on the centering sounds of last year's Endless Summer Vacation , which earned her a record of the year Grammy for "Flowers." For his part, Post broke out as a watercolor trap rockstar and has since shifted toward a sound more in line with his Texas roots. Both seem to resonate with the ambiguity Bey sees running through the music.

10. There's more beneath the rhinestone jewel case.

Beyond the many featured guests, other behind-the-scenes contributors help tell the story. The-Dream , Pharrell , No I.D., Raphael Saadiq , Ryan Tedder, Ryan Beatty and Swizz Beatz all helped produce the record. It also boasts an incredibly accomplished cast of supporting players: Pulitzer-winning folk revivalist Giddens , Grammy-winning soul man Jon Batiste , session luminary Nile Rodgers, gospel pedal steelist Robert Randolph , blues rocker Gary Clark Jr. , hip-hop banjoist Willie Jones and the incomparable Stevie Wonder . The incredible variety of names and skills is the secret sauce behind Cowboy Carter 's sprawling vision.

Will Beyoncé announce the Cowboy Carter' tour? Fans think she may be hitting the road again soon.

  • Beyoncé released her new album "Cowboy Carter" on Friday.
  • Some fans think she's gearing up to tour again, though many say they don't have the funds to attend.
  • The Renaissance World Tour wrapped last October in Kansas City. It was hailed as a must-see event.

Insider Today

Less than a year after the Renaissance World Tour wrapped, it might already be time for the Beyhive to dust off their boots and head back out to see Beyoncé live again.

The Renaissance World Tour was hailed as a once-in-a-lifetime event , a bona fide status symbol , and a blockbuster concert movie that awed audiences while near-singlehandedly boosting AMC's revenue . The 56-show run wrapped on October 1, 2023, in Kansas City.

On its heels, Beyoncé has released her new album " Cowboy Carter ." The triumphant country-inspired project is billed as "Act II" in a three-part "Renaissance" series.

So it would stand to reason — financially and thematically — that Beyoncé would plan another tour leg for "Cowboy Carter."

Her team seemed to hint that something is coming by launching a new website, " Been Country ." The landing page shows a photo of young Beyoncé performing at the Texas Sweetheart Pageant, as well as a childhood photo of her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson , and an image of a banjo.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Slayonce Avenue (@slayonce_avenue2)

A fan account on Instagram shared a rumor that the tour announcement is scheduled for Friday, exactly one week after the album's arrival. Knowles-Lawson liked the post, adding more fuel to the rumor's flame.

Beyoncé's longtime collaborator The-Dream, who produced 10 of the new album's 27 tracks, also alluded to a forthcoming tour. He celebrated the release of "Cowboy Carter" on X, writing, "This tour bout to B' Incredible!"

Fans grabbed screenshots of The-Dream's post, though it has since been deleted.

However, the six-month turnaround since Beyoncé's last concert does cast suspicion on these theories. Thanks to "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé," we know the Renaissance World Tour took four years to ideate and execute.

It's unclear if plans for a "Cowboy Carter" show were also in the works during that time, but if not, fans may have to wait a bit longer to watch Beyoncé perform. As she's already made clear, " A queen moves at her own pace ."

Even so, a delay may come as welcome news, even for dedicated members of the Beyhive.

Many fans have been posting about their lack of ticket funds on X, playfully begging Beyoncé to put off touring until next year.

When will ‘Renaissance’ be streaming? How to watch every Beyoncé documentary and concert film

With the release of 'cowboy carter,' beyoncé is ushering in a new era. but what about 'renaissance'.

Beyoncé is moving on to a new era in her music. If you haven’t listened to the singer’s new album , Cowboy Carter, yet — seriously, what are you doing reading this? Just a few months after her concert film/documentary, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, broke box office records, the Queen Bey announced that we were “ready” for her new music during a Super Bowl ad , officially ushering in Act II, AKA Cowboy Carter , AKA the sequel to Renaissance . Now that we’re in a brand new, distinctly Country era , fans may be wondering when the singer’s smash hit documentary capturing the making of Renaissance will be available to stream at home. Unfortunately, there’s no official word on when (or even if) Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé will be hitting HBO’s Max or Netflix or another popular streaming platform yet.

But when it comes to documentaries and concert films, Renaissance   was in no way Beyoncé’s first rodeo. The musical icon has put out many projects offering her audience a glimpse of what goes into the making of her albums and world tours, as well as unforgettable visual albums and concert performances. So while you wait for Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé to become available to watch online, why not revisit some of the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer’s past projects? Here’s how to watch all of Beyoncé’s documentaries, concert films and visual albums.

Beyoncé's new album 'cowboy carter' is a statement against ai music.

Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter" has been out for only a few days, yet it's already obvious that we'll be talking about it for years to come -- it's breaking records across streaming platforms, and the artist herself calls it "the best music [she's] ever made." "The joy of creating music is that there are no rules," said Beyoncé. Beyoncé rarely does interviews, giving each of her comments about the new album more significance -- these remarks are among few jumping-off points fans get to help them puzzle through each element of the album, and how they all fit together.

Beyonce Net Worth: How much money she has made on her singing career?

How the "Renaissance World Tour" catapulted her net worth.

Beyoncé , with her awe-inspiring talent and strategic business acumen, is poised to join the exclusive billion-dollar club. Riding high on the success of her " Renaissance World Tour ," which raked in a staggering $579 million, and bolstered by her monumental record sales, Beyoncé's net worth stands at an impressive $800 million as of December 2023, according to Forbes.

Her wealth is primarily driven by album sales, with an astounding 200 million records sold throughout her illustrious 20-year solo career. This monumental achievement solidifies her status as one of the best-selling artists in history, with her catalog alone estimated at $300 million.

Beyoncé 's financial ascent accelerated in 2023, with a remarkable 48% increase in her net worth, largely attributed to the resounding success of the "Renaissance World Tour." This tour, spanning 39 cities and 56 dates, grossed a whopping $100 million, following the release of her blockbuster album "Renaissance" in 2022, which sold one million copies.

Is Beyoncé a billionaire now?

Beyoncé's journey to billionairedom is uniquely defined by her astute business ventures and artistic endeavors. Beyoncé's net worth stands as a testament to her multifaceted talent and entrepreneurial prowess. Unlike some entertainers who diversify their income streams, Beyoncé's wealth predominantly stems from her music career, supplemented by her lavish properties, brand sponsorships, and various business ventures under her company, Parkwood Entertainment.

Beyoncé's meticulous approach to her career extends beyond music, as evidenced by her strategic foray into filmmaking. In a move reminiscent of Taylor Swift 's successful documentary endeavors, Beyoncé's concert film " Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé " emerged as a box office sensation, grossing $44 million and further amplifying her financial stature.

While Beyoncé 's net worth of $800 million places her in the upper echelons of wealth, Taylor Swift's towering net worth of $1.1 billion underscores the formidable presence of both artists in the entertainment industry. Despite their divergent paths, Beyoncé and Swift share a mutual admiration and support for each other's accomplishments.

In essence, Beyoncé's journey to billionairedom transcends mere financial milestones; it symbolizes the triumph of talent, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit in the pursuit of greatness.
