GETTING STARTED

Please register your device on bushnellgolf.com . This registration is for receiving Bushnell Golf support, product discounts,  and new product information.

Next, install the Bushnell Golf App on your phone. The Bushnell Golf App can be found by searching your phone's app store or via the below links.

• Android • Apple

Open the Bushnell Golf App and add your rangefinder as a device.

• The first field is the serial number from the bottom of the device. • The 2nd field is the manufacture date that is also on the bottom of your rangefinder in YYYYMM format. • If you get an error that the serial number is already in use, you will need to e-mail iGolf at [email protected]   requesting the serial number be released.  Please include your serial number from your rangefinder with this e-mail.

Registration through the Golf app also creates your user ID and password at the Bushnell iGolf website https://bushnell.igolf.com /. This will be the website for software and course updates. Laser rangefinders don't really need software updates.

Your initial battery should last for a few months. If you start to experience any issues with the performance, replace the battery with a high quality (Panasonic, Duracell, or Energizer), CR-2 3 Volt Lithium battery that is right out of the package. Once you replace the battery, press & hold the fire button for 10 seconds. We recommend carrying at least 1-2 spares in your golf bag so that you always have a fresh new battery for full functionality.

I see debris in the lens?

The issue you described sounds like your device may have some solar burns. Over time, the device can develop small dots due to sun exposure. The dots are cosmetic and should not affect the actual performance of the device. In some cases, the amount of solar burn has become substantial enough to interfere with the viewing area. In this event, please contact Bushnell Golf Support for options.

TWO-YEAR WARRANTY

Bushnell Golf guarantees the Tour V4 Laser Rangefinder to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover consumer-caused damages such as misuse, abuse or repairs attempted by someone other than our authorized technicians.

WARRANTY FAQ

Is the tour v4 waterproof, can i clean the tour v4 .

Yes, follow these steps.

1. Blow away any excessive dust or debris on exterior (or use a soft brush). 2. To remove dirt or finger prints, clean with the supplied micro fiber cloth rubbing in a circular motion. Use of a coarse cloth or unnecessary rubbing may scratch the lens surface and eventually cause permanent damage. The included washable microfiber cleaning cloth is ideal for the routine cleaning of your optics. Simply breathe lightly on the lens to provide a slight amount of moisture, then gently rub the lens with the microfiber cloth. 3. For a more thorough cleaning, photographic lens tissue and photographic-type lens cleaning fluid or isopropyl alcohol may be used. Always apply fluid to the cleaning cloth - never directly on the lens.

When do I replace the battery?

Replace the battery when the unit does not turn on, display does not illuminate, or the display goes blank when attempting to power the laser. Use a good quality 3 -volt lithium battery (CR2). Insert into the compartment with the negative (flat) end first (positive end facing out towards the battery cover). We recommend replacing the battery at least once every six months.

Reset Bushnell Tour V4 – Easy Steps to Get it Working Again

Last Updated on June 14th, 2023

We may earn commissions for purchases made through links on our site. Learn more on our about us page.

When they released this product on June 30th, 2022, Bushnell golf was sold out by 6:45 am.

The company came out with a statement:

“The technology of tour domination provides professionally compensated distance based on the hole’s incline/decline… [giving it a] true play as distance.”

PGA store says, “The tour V4 rangefinder is one of Bushnell’s most popular rangefinders that use the revolutionary Jolt Technology. With unparalleled accuracy, small size, and fast processing.”

Bushnell Tour V4 in a Man's hand - resetting it and Easy Steps to Get it Working Again

Is there a reset button for a Bushnell tour V4?

To find the reset button, look at the back of the rangefinder. This is the easiest way to reset the rangefinder. Push, and hold the button for a few seconds until the rangefinder resets.

Straight from the source, Bushnell Golf Support says, “Hold down the bottom left-hand button and power button together for 15 seconds or until the unit switches off… then turn it back on using the power button.”

If the unit powers up without a hitch, you have reset your Bushnell correctly.

How can you reset a Bushnell Tour V4?

From what can be found online, there are different ways to reset the rangefinder.

First, what you can try is to remove the battery cover. Then look for a reset button. Then use a pen or similar-sized object to push the rangefinder facing you, and press the button long enough to hear a click.

Once you hear the click, replace the battery cover and try to use the rangefinder again.

In case this does not work, there is another option. It’s a built-in option named First Strike Reset Mode that will delete all data. To do it, you need to press and hold the power button until the recycle symbol starts to blink. Then, you will see it on display.

After seeing the symbol, press the power button and hold it down. You wait until you hear a loud sound. Meanwhile, the display will flash. After a couple of minutes, it should be ready for use again.

How long does it take to reset a Bushnell Tour V4?

The length of time in which it takes to reset the rangefinder ranges from a few seconds to a process of a few days, or weeks, depending on the shipping. The most common cause of power issues is a corrupt battery.

This could take a while before the item even arrives.

For the most part, the general process of resetting this model of Bushnell should not take more than 10 minutes of your time.

What do you need to pay attention to while restarting a Bushnell Tour V4?

You will need to pay attention to a few things when restarting your rangefinder. First, in the case itself, is there any water damage? Another common mistake humans make is dropping their products in water.

Next, look at the charging cord, is there damage to the cord itself? To the plug for the outlet? Does the piece that goes into the rangefinder itself need cleaning?

Sometimes the unit is not getting a charge. Therefore it will not power up. This could prevent the need to restart the Bushnell in the future. Next, when resetting the unit, pay close attention to the light indicator.

The recycle symbol will start blinking when the high-pitched beep sounds as the display flashes. This is the tell-tale sign that the First Strike Reset Mode is activated, then completed.

How can you tell if your Bushnell Tour V4 is properly reset?

The easiest way to confirm that the restart is completed is if the rangefinder is working properly. Otherwise, there are light and sound indicators that will instruct you on the steps being completed. The display will flash with accompanying high-pitched beeping.

Final Thoughts on Resetting Bushnell Tour V4

From what the experts are saying to the professionals and everyday golfers, this product is accurate as can be.

Just be sure to maintain a watchful eye on your cords, power sources, and cables for the best charge. Also, when resetting this product, ensure the battery is not the issue.

An Honest Review of The Bushnell Tour V4 Rangefinder

An Honest Review of The Bushnell Tour V4 Rangefinder

Mike has been involved with sports for over 30 years. He's been an avid golfer for more than 10 years and is obsessed with watching the Golf Channel and taking notes on a daily basis. He also holds a degree in Sports Psychology.

View all posts by Mike Noblin

Over the past few years, rangefinders have become all the rage amongst golfers.

The PGA of America even made rangefinders legal in all three of its major championships back in May of 2021 . The move was made by the governing body with the hopes of speeding up the pace of play on the golf course at these events.

I’ve been playing golf for several years and I’ll be the first to admit that I was slow to come around to using a rangefinder during my rounds. However, when I purchased my last set of golf clubs, the salesman kindly threw in a Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder as part of the deal. Now I don’t know how I ever played a round of golf without it!

Table of Contents

Overall Rating and Thoughts: 4.9/5

Quick overview of the bushnell tour v4, what i like about the bushnell tour v4, what i dislike about the bushnell tour v4.

Bushnell has converted me into a customer for life. While I used to think rangefinders were overpriced and unnecessary, I now don’t know how I ever played a round of golf without one! If you are on the fence about which rangefinder to buy, I highly recommend the Bushnell Tour V4 Slope Edition.

Overall, I’d give the Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder 4.9 out of 5 stars for a variety of reasons. It’s insanely accurate and I love the Jolt Technology, which vibrates a little bit when you have locked on to the flag. This gives me peace of mind that I have aimed the laser in the correct spot.

Bushnell Tour V4 Slope Laser Rangefinder

The slope option is incredibly helpful because it factors in the degrees of slope for you, which tells you what the shot is actually playing. This makes a huge difference in the way of club selection. After all, most golf shots have some sort of slope involved.

If you are not a fan of the slope technology and just want the actual distance or you are playing in a tournament that doesn’t allow it, you can easily shift between modes by rotating the small notch dial on top. Again, Bushnell hits a home run with this feature.

I also love how the Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder fits comfortably into the palm of my hand. It was designed with stabi-grip technology, which means it won’t slip out of your hand and it’s easy to handle. It’s also lightweight, so your arm and hand won’t get tired of holding it during a round.

Lastly, Bushnell is the most reputable rangefinder brand on the market. Tons of professional and amateur golfers around the world trust Bushnell to give them accurate yardage readings. If you’re in the market for a new rangefinder, you can’t go wrong with the Bushnell Tour V4 Slope Edition.

Bushnell has been making top-of-the-line rangefinders for over 25 years, so they have stood the test of time in the golf industry. The Tour V4 was first released in 2016 and it remains one of Bushnell’s best-selling rangefinders, even though the Tour V5 has been out for quite a while. The Slope Edition lets you toggle in and out of Bushnell’s special slope feature, which automatically adjusts its yardage based on the incline or decline of the slope.

The Tour V4 provides pinpoint accuracy and gives you a yardage number that you can be confident in each time you use it on the golf course. It also comes with Pin Seeker Jolt technology, which sends short vibrating pulses when you have correctly shot the laser to the flag. With the Tour V4’s 5x magnification, you’ll easily be able to see all of the key details of each green on the course.

Since the Tour V4 has so many key features, it’s hard to decide which ones I value the most. However, here are some of my favorite things about this particular Bushnell rangefinder. These are in no particular order.

  • Pinpoint Accuracy: Before using the Tour V4, I simply used a standard golf GPS app on my phone. While this worked okay to give me ballpark yardage on each of my shots, I quickly learned that the yardage it gave me was regularly three to five yards off the actual distance. I’ve never had this problem with the Tour V4 because its accuracy is always within 1-yard. It’s so refreshing to not have to second guess my club selection anymore!
  • Pin Seeker with Jolt Technology: This is probably my favorite feature of the Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder! With other brands, you may be left wondering if you correctly aimed the laser at the target. This is NOT the case with the Tour V4 thanks to its Pin Seeker with Jolt feature. Simply aim at the flagstick and the device will provide you with a tactile confirmation by lightly vibrating a few times! How cool is that?
  • Fast Focus System: Some laser rangefinders or golf GPS apps can take quite a while to give you the desired yardage information. This can be due to a weak cell phone signal on a GPS app or a lengthy process on some off-brand rangefinders. Needless to say, it is super annoying when that happens! Thankfully, golfers don’t have to worry about that happening with the Bushnell Tour V4. It has a fast focus system that allows you to see your yardage number and degree of slope quickly and efficiently. No more waiting around to find your number and select your club.
  • 2-Year Warranty: Let’s face it. Finding a company that stands behind its products with a solid warranty is almost a rare thing nowadays. This warranty means if you have any trouble with the Tour V4 in the way of manufacturing defects within two years of your purchase date, Bushnell will either fix the issue or send you a new rangefinder as a replacement.
  • Compact Size: Some golf rangefinders are too bulky, which makes it difficult to keep a steady hand when trying to find out yardages. You won’t have this problem with the Tour V4. It’s a lightweight device with an ergonomic design, which makes it much easier to hold than other brands. Your thumb will easily wrap around the entire device and you’ll be able to easily hit the red button on top to start shooting yardages.
  • Slope Mode: Being able to calculate the slope of each green is a remarkable advantage for amateur golfers. Thanks to the Tour V4’s ability to tell me the degrees of slope, I can decide the safest approach shot based on the hole layouts. This has helped me lower my handicap considerably.
  • Water Resistant: This one is a biggie for me because, unlike some other golfers, I like playing in the rain (I know, I’m weird). The Tour V4 is water-resistant so you can use it without fear of damaging it. However, just to be on the safe side, I wouldn’t use it in a complete downpour though, as it’s not waterproof (only water-resistant). Be sure to keep the rangefinder in its premium carrying case when you aren’t using it.
  • Access to Bushnell Golf App: Golfers of all levels will love the Bushnell Golf mobile app because of its helpful features. The app offers 3D flyovers of each hole as well as yardages to the front, to the flag, and to the back of the green. The app currently has a 4.8 rating on the App Store and a 3.9 rating on Google Play. Both of those impressive ratings just go to show that Bushnell spared no expense when it came to designing its mobile golf app.
  • Extremely Long Battery Life: Another critical feature of the Tour V4 is its battery life. I’ve been using this rangefinder for over a year and haven’t needed to replace the battery. It takes a 3-volt lithium cr2 battery, which is easy to find at most shopping outlets. The battery door also easily slides open to make the whole replacement process a breeze.

There’s not a whole lot to dislike about the Tour V4. The only complaint I have is that it doesn’t come with a magnet on it, which would make it easier to mount it on the side of the golf cart during a round. This would be much more convenient than having to take it in and out of the carry case throughout the entire round on the course.

However, I have heard that the new Bushnell Tour V5 comes with its new BITE magnetic technology, which allows you to just slap it on the side of the golf cart rails. It would probably be pretty easy to just slap a small magnet on the side of the Tour V4 though.

Pin seeker with jolt Technology provides you with short Vibrating bursts to reinforce the laser has laced onto the flag. Patented slope Technology provides compensated distance based on the incline or decline of the hole. Accurately ranges from 5 to 1,000 yards and 400+ yards to a flag within one yard.

The TOUR V4 SHIFT is a precision Laser Rangefinding optical instrument designed to provide many years of enjoyment. This booklet will help you achieve optimum performance by explaining its adjustments and features as well as how to care for this precise laser rangefinding optical instrument. To ensure optimal performance and longevity, please read these instructions before using your TOUR V4 SHIFT. Your TOUR V4 SHIFT is Bushnell's newest addition to an award winning line of golf laser rangefinders specifically made for golfers. TOUR V4 SHIFT features PinSeeker ™ technology with JOLT™, allowing the golfer to easily and quickly "zero" in on the flag without acquiring background targets. The TOUR V4 SHIFT weighs a mere 5.6 ounces and made to fit into the palm of your hand. TOUR V4 SHIFT also features an adjustable eyepiece, 5X magnification, and is capable of providing distance from 5 to 1000 yards with incredible one yard accuracy! Like other Bushnell laser rangefinders, the TOUR V4 SHIFT is not dependent upon reflectors, and will provide distance to trees, bunkers, and virtually any object on any golf course in the world.

The TOUR V4 SHIFT WITH PINSEEKER emits invisible, eye safe, infrared energy pulses. The TOUR V4 SHIFT's Advanced Digital microprocessor and ASIC chip (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) results in instantaneous and accurate readings every time. Sophisticated digital technology instantaneously calculates distances by measuring the time it takes for each pulse to travel from the rangefinder, to the target, and back.

The ranging accuracy of the TOUR V4 SHIFT is plus or minus one yard/meter under most circumstances. The maximum range of the instrument depends on the reflectivity of the target. The maximum distance for most objects is 700 yards/640 meters while for highly reflective objects the maximum is 1000 yards/914 meters. Note: You will get both longer and shorter maximum distances depending on the reflective properties of the particular target and the environmental conditions at the time the distance of an object is being measured. The color, surface finish, size and shape of the target all affect reflectivity and range. The brighter the color, the longer the range. Red is highly reflective, for example, and allows longer ranges than the color black, which is the least reflective color. A shiny finish provides more range than a dull one. A small target is more difficult to range than a larger target. The angle to the target also has an effect. Shooting to a target at a 90 degree angle (where the target surface is perpendicular to the flight path of the emitted energy pulses) provides good range while a steep angle on the other hand, provides limited ranging. In addition, lighting conditions (e.g. the amount of sunlight) will affect the ranging capabilities of the unit. The less light (e.g. overcast skies) the farther the unit's maximum range will be. Conversely, very sunny days will decrease the unit's maximum range.

REPLACING THE BATTERY Your TOUR V4 SHIFT comes with a battery already installed, so it's ready to use right away. To replace the battery, remove the battery cap by lifting the battery cap tab and then rotating counter clockwise. Insert a CR-2 3-volt lithium battery into the compartment negative end first, then replace the battery cap. NOTE: It is recommended that the battery be replaced at least once every 12 months. Low Battery Indicator: When one bar is shown on the battery icon, the battery is low and should be replaced. If the battery goes below the safe operating level (affecting accuracy of readings), the battery icon will flash and the unit will not range.

Your TOUR V4 SHIFT is constructed with an adjustable eyepiece (+/- 3 Diopter Adjustment) that allows one to focus the LCD display relative to the image. Simply rotate the eyepiece until the reticle and object distanced to are both in focus to your eye.

While looking through the 5x eyepiece, depress the POWER/FIRE button once to activate the in-view Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). Place the aiming circle (located in the center of the field of view) upon a target at least 5 yards away, depress and hold the POWER/FIRE button down until the range reading is displayed near the bottom of the in-view display. Crosshairs surrounding the aiming circle indicate that the laser is being transmitted. Once a range has been acquired, you can release the POWER/FIRE button. The crosshairs surrounding the aiming circle will disappear once the POWER/FIRE button has been released (i.e. the laser is no longer being transmitted). Note: Once activated, the LCD will remain active and display the last distance measurement for 10 seconds. You can depress the power button again at any time to distance to a new target. As with any laser device, it is not recommended to directly view the emissions for long periods of time with magnified lenses. The maximum time the laser is transmitted (fired) is 5 seconds. To re-fire, press the POWER/ FIRE button down again.

Your TOUR V4 SHIFT 's LCD incorporates illuminated icons or symbols that indicate the selected unit of measure, when the laser is actively firing, when a target has been acquired, and targeting modes. A summary of these features follows:

The TOUR V4 SHIFT can be used to measure distances in yards or meters. The unit of measure indicators are located in the lower right portion of the LCD. To select between yards and meters (starting with unit powered off), press and hold the POWER/FIRE button. After 7 seconds, the display will begin to cycle through the options: Yards or Meters (for details on the Slope feature, see "About Tour V4 Shift with Slope Technology") . When the units you want to use are displayed, release the POWER/FIRE button to select it. If you are changing from yards to meters, a change in unit of measure will be indicated by the illumination of the M for meter indicator while the Y for Yard indicator is turned off. If you are changing from meters to yards, the opposite will occur. The TOUR V4 SHIFT will return to the last unit of measure setting used each time the unit is turned on.

bushnell tour v4 disassembly

About JOLT The JOLT feature provides a vibration signal (similar to setting a cell phone to "vibrate") that will be felt when the Pinseeker technology indicates the flag has been detected and the distance to it is displayed in the LCD.

The advanced and patented slope technology found on the Tour V4 ™ Shift features a built-in accelerometerbased inclinometer that digitally displays the exact slope angle from -20 to +20 degrees of elevation. The Tour V4 Shift will automatically compute an angle compensated range based upon distance and slope angle determined by the laser rangefinder and built-in inclinometer. This data is then combined with internal algorithmic formulas dealing with average club use and ball trajectories. The angle compensated range provides direction on how to play the shot (i.e. add distance if an incline, subtract distance if a decline).

HOW TO USE SLOPE +/- ™

HOW TO USE

OBTAINING SLOPE YARDAGES +/- Once in "Slope" mode, simply hold the POWER button down while holding the aiming circle on the flag and keeping the unit as steady as possible. Once the distance is displayed, release the POWER button. Once you have released the power button, a degree of angle and compensated range will be displayed.

The Advantage of Slope Technology

Magnification and Coatings The TOUR V4 SHIFT features 5x magnification and Multi-Coated optics. A liquid crystal display (LCD) is mounted within the optical system and when activated, displays a reticle for targeting, yards/meters, and Mode indicators. Inherent in the manufacturing process are small black spots that appear in the optical system. These are a natural characteristic of the LCD and cannot be fully eliminated in the manufacturing process. They do not affect the distancing performance of the unit.

Gently blow away any dust or debris on the lenses (or use a soft lens brush). To remove dirt or fingerprints, clean with a soft cotton or microfiber cloth, rubbing in a circular motion. Use of a coarse cloth or unnecessary rubbing may scratch the lens surface and eventually cause permanent damage. For a more thorough cleaning, photographic lens tissue and photographic-type lens cleaning fluid or isopropyl alcohol may be used. Always apply the fluid to the cleaning cloth – never directly on the lens.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If unit does not turn on - LCD does not illuminate:

  • Depress POWER/FIRE button.
  • Check and if necessary, replace battery. If unit does not respond to key presses, replace the battery with a good quality 3 volt lithium battery.

If unit powers down (display goes blank when attempting to power the laser):

  • The battery is either weak or low quality. Replace the battery with a good quality 3 -volt lithium battery.
  • Make sure LCD is illuminated.
  • Make sure that the POWER/FIRE button is being depressed.
  • Make sure that nothing, such as your hand or finger, is blocking the objective lenses (lenses closest to the target) that emit and receive the laser pulses.
  • Make sure unit is held steady while depressing the POWER/FIRE button.

NOTE: The last range reading does not need to be cleared before ranging another target. Simply aim at the new target using the LCD's reticle, depress the POWER/FIRE button and hold until new range reading is displayed. Specifications, instructions, and the operation of this product is subject to change without notice.
