The Burke-Gilman trail , which runs all the way from Ballard to outside Seattle city limits along the ship canal and Lake Washington, and the Elliot Bay trail , which runs along the bay from Interbay to downtown and is a great way to access ferries or the Pike Place market by bike, are just two of the popular options for getting around by bike.

The city is also walkable, with clusters of fun neighborhoods to explore, farmer’s markets to stroll through, and popular parks like Green Lake, Volunteer Park and Discovery Park featuring miles and miles of walking trails. Traveling Washington State with Cannabis

Washington is one of the most crowded legal cannabis markets in the country . And if you’re a cannaisseur who likes to explore cannabis culture in new places, you might be curious enough to visit. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s 100% legal for anyone age 21 and over to possess and use cannabis in the state of Washington.

However, that doesn’t mean one can light one up in the open streets. In this article, we give you the rundown on what you need to know to have the best experience with legal cannabis in Washington.

CANNABIS IN THE EVERGREEN STATE

In Washington, the law protects cannabis consumption openly on private property, under the condition that the owner allows it. However, via the  implementation of I-502 , it’s illegal to use cannabis in public. In other words, you can’t use cannabis “in the view of” the general public, such as on streets, sidewalks, or in public parks and places of employment. The same rule applies for state parks, public hiking trails, and ski resorts.

SO, WHERE CAN YOU USE CANNABIS?

Well, for establishments such as hotels, the law permits vaporizing or smoking cannabis in a private hotel room. For visitors though, we recommend inquiring with your accommodations before blazing one up, as not every hotel implements the same policy. Now, being that the possession and consumption of cannabis are still illegal at a  federal level , the U.S. Coast Guard will enforce federal law on federal lands and navigable waters. This, of course, would include hiking, skiing, and boating.

CANNABIS DON’TS

Aside from outdoor activities and watercraft, we should probably also tell you that it is not a good idea to drive under the influence of cannabis in Washington. If a cop wants to investigate and pulls you over, he or she will perform a blood test. Similar to alcohol testing, blood testing over 5 nanograms of THC per milliliter will result in a DUI.

As cannabis does impair reaction, judgment, and motor coordination, it may be dangerous to use while operating any vehicle or heavy machinery. On the other hand, there’s no evidence that it affects the same areas of the brain as alcohol so more research may be needed.

The good thing is, this hasn’t stopped anyone from consuming cannabis. While we don’t condone breaking Washington law of any kind, city law will issue only a $27 ticket for using cannabis in public. That said, there’s no need to worry about landing yourself in a Seattle jail. If you’re visiting and have  purchased recreational cannabis , be sure you don’t take any of that good herb you bought in Washington back home with you.

Taking cannabis outside of the state is illegal and may result in significant legal penalties.  So, please just…don’t do it.

WAYS TO USE CANNABIS DISCREETLY

Washingtonians are pretty lucky and have access to a range of marijuana products containing CBD, THC and other cannabis compounds not commonly known, but may be worth trying. Below are a few of the most common discreet and  smoke-free  ways to use cannabis in Washington.

There are two ways to go about this particular method, both of which don’t produce combustive smoke. The first one involves using a vape pen that allows you to load the chamber with cannabis oil, and the other involves a disposable vape pen with a cartridge that’s typically pre-filled. Given that it requires less effort, many cannabis enthusiasts seem to prefer the latter.

Available in a variety of cannabinoid profiles, flavors, and potencies, liquid cannabis concentrates like tinctures may be one of the easiest ways to deliver cannabis. With just a few drops on the tongue, effects can be felt almost instantly! They can be added in food and drinks as well.

If you rather consume your bud, you can get your fix in the most delicious way by chowing down on a few tasty cannabis-infused delights. This goes far beyond your typical weed brownies my friend. Edibles also include beverages, which are difficult to detect and available in the form of teas, green juices, and even sparkling water.

The dinner series offers private fine dining experiences with five to eight courses, each featuring ingredients like cannabis oils and butters that enhance the effect of the meal.
