American producer/DJ Chris Malinchak, based in New York, US, is an up-and-coming artist quickly becoming one of the top names in dance music following his hit single, "So Good to Me," released on May 5th, 2013.

Malinchak's popularity first gained momentum after BBC Radio 1's legendary Pete Tong played his entrancing hit "So Good To Me" as his 'Essential New Tune of the Week. Prior to this hit, Malinchak had been pursuing a musical career through hard work, playing endless gigs to promote his music, as well as creating and releasing his own productions. Following "So Good To Me," his success has led to worldwide tours and performances at nightclubs, raising his profile, becoming one of the hottest names in dance music. His music has gained fans internationally, enjoying his brand of deep house that has a distinct retro-vibe to it.

"So Good To Me" reached number two in the UK charts, beaten only by Daft Punk's huge hit, "Get Lucky" in May 2013. The track went on to sell a massive 73,000 copies in its first week, achieving silver certification in July 22nd, 2013. The track also reached number two in the US Dance chart, s well as the top 40 in Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland and Switzerland.

Malinchak has proven himself not to be a one-hit-wonder however, with his two following singles, "If U Got It" (January 24th 2014) and "Forever (February 26th 2014) being received well. "If You Got It" in particular reached number 23 in the UK charts, number seven in the US dance chart and number 33 in Scotland.

Malinchak is also a classically trained pianist, which has made him into a very articular songwriter, who pushes for accuracy and near-perfection when creating his songs, allowing for his fresh and unique sound to develop.

Chris Malinchak’s 2013 set in Ibiza rocked the kind of ‘deep, tough, sexy pulse’ (Malinchak) that has people falling in love with strangers. The 26-year-old from Brooklyn performed in the palatial, if unpronounceable, club Ushuaia whose open air arena and enormous pool gifted the set with an achingly cool beach party vibe before the music had even started. Malinchak began with a simple, laid back beat which had even the most awkward of us in the vest clad crowd bumping and swaying in a pulse with the uniformity of a giant shoal. He dropped his lesser known but still heavenly track ‘If U Got It’ in the first few minutes which samples airy vocals from the collaborative track ‘I’m Gonna Make You Love Me’ by Diana Ross & the Supremes Join The Temptations. Although his vocal communication with the crowd was nil, the DJ made up for this through contagious head bumping and copious thumbs up. He was also bolstered by Radio 1 who punctuated his set with shout outs announcing, for anyone who had forgotten, that ‘THIS…IS CHRIS MALINCHAK’ and orders to ‘MAKE SOME GOD DAMN NOISE’. After a myriad of blended tracks which had me scrabbling for Shazam, Malinchak finally drifted into the sublime anthem of last summer ‘So Good To Me’. If before I was doubting whether to get tickets for his upcoming gig in Glasgow this October – one of four in his UK tour – it was this song which cemented my affirmative decision. Having reassurance that ‘every sky will be blue’ while being skimmed with delicately purple strobe lights was one of the best musical experiences of my life. And don’t worry that the element of live performance is lost in the electronic nature of his music: Malinchak adorned this track on a keyboard swathed in dry ice which made him look like some sort of tight t-shirt wearing house angel. As well as keeping me dancing all night (which is a feat in itself), Chris Malinchak’s music makes one feel cool by osmosis which, in my book, is a good enough reason to see anything.

December 13, 2022: Samara Joy ,  2x GRAMMY nominee  for  Best New Artist  and  Best Jazz Vocal Album , performed her holiday single  “Warm in December''  on  The Kelly Clarkson Show  today. The 23-year-old “once in a generation” vocalist playfully reinvigorates the swinging holiday standard with her  “rich, buttery vocals”  (Billboard),  “breathtaking technique”  (Boston Globe), and  “youthful exuberance”  (WRTI).

Samara Joy, born and raised in the Bronx, has dazzled crowds at jazz clubs, festivals, and cultural institutions across the globe, performed on NBC’s  Today Show with Hoda and Jenna , and earned glowing public endorsements from the likes of  Regina King ,  LaKeith Stanfield , and many others. While she is influenced by the greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Carmen McRae, Samara takes a contemporary approach to her art and performance as evidenced by her massive  TikTok  following. Her Verve Records debut album  Linger Awhile  - named one of the  Best Jazz Albums of 2022  by The New York Times - is a 10-song collection of beloved tunes, updated for a new generation. Recorded at Sear Sound in New York City by Chris Allen and produced by Matt Pierson,  Linger Awhile  features exemplary musicianship by Pasquale Grasso (guitar), Ben Paterson (piano), David Wong (double bass), and Kenny Washington (drums). 

In addition to several New York City performances with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra as a special guest on their Big Band Holidays tour, Samara will be presenting “Samara Joy: A Joyful Holiday!” in four markets, where her family members will also be featured. Full tour schedule below.
