Just a warning be very careful when applying for your ESTA online, as i have paid the price thinking that i was using the Government site after a Google search. I filled in all the form but was charged $190 for 2 of us, unfortunately i was in a hurry and did not read the small print.
I should have only paid $14 each plus $4 admin
I really do think this is shocking that the US government allow 3rd party companys to charge highly inflated prices masking them selfs as the real McCoy.
Actually the website has a disclaimer at the bottom saying
"This website is owned and operated by Sat Pro Ltd, a private company. We are not affiliated with any government or embassy."
Therefore, it is not a scam. They just happen to charge a fees to get you an ESTA.
There site is very misleading as to be "The Official ESTA site" hence why i state a scam as they heavily inflate the charge by 6 fold, than what you would pay if you were to use the US Customs Border control site.
Its a SCAM, legal loophole, but its a Scam
Did you get an ESTA? If so, then how is it a scam? Buyer beware maybe but not a scam.
This has been discussed before.

>>> really do think this is shocking that the US government allow 3rd party companys to charge highly inflated prices masking them selfs as the real McCoy.<<<
The link posted above states that a large commission went to the UK The U.S. Gov't has no jurisdiction over foriegn enterprises.
Yup US Govt. has no jurisdiction on the business operations as the company is not doing anything Illegal. It is akin to an agent charging fees to provide you a ticket or any other service. It is more of UK govt. jurisdiction.
I agree idrinkwater. I believe we call that "free enterprise". But I was a little taken aback by the implication that this is our government's fault.
On their main (front) page: "The services provided herein are in relation to the submission of ESTA applications. The cost of processing applications includes all service fees (up to 81USD), which are dependent on the location of the applicant. We are not affiliated with the US government or embassy. The processing fee includes 14USD due to the US government for issuing your ESTA. You can apply directly via https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/."
Good point Sebastian Dallas. It could not be more clear and obvious.
"I really do think this is shocking that the US government allow 3rd party companys to charge highly inflated prices masking them selfs as the real McCoy."
Another thing we're supposed to police the whole world for???
It's the internet folks!!! It's filled with advertisements, misinformation and misrepresentation.
Caveat Emptor.
I believe the term we would use is not scam but "rip off".
No! I chose to hand over $45 and got what I needed. However, through my own actions I did overpay and may be thinking "I should know that electronics in Times Square are a rip off". But if I go to city officials and say: shut them down, their prices are high, I would not expect anything to happen.

I was duped by a copycat website – can I get my money back?
The lookalike site overcharged for ‘assistance’ with the US Esta visa waiver
I wish I had read your recent article on copycat websites. I have just fallen victim to one over a recent Esta application. When I applied for my first one, five years ago, I am sure such sites did not exist – or maybe I was just lucky to avoid them. This time I thought I had selected the official website, so it was quite a good fake. I have certainly learnt my lesson. Having paid $99 for “assistance”, which I did not need (when the cost of the Esta is only $14), is there any way I can get some, or all, of the overpayment back?
YB, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Under the terms of the Esta visa waiver programme, all Britons entering the US are required to apply online at least 72 hours prior to travel and pay a $14 fee. Since April 2016, you also need to hold a biometric passport with a built-in chip. Unfortunately, you have been duped by a copycat website which offers services from government departments or local government, such as paying congestion charges, applying for passports or the European health insurance card … but is not official. Although they are not illegal, they often – as you found – charge a substantial premium for the same service as the official website. They trap the unwary by looking uncannily like the real thing and often appear at the top of internet search results. They justify their fees on the fact they check documents but you are eligible for a refund as you were misled
However, there are illegal, fake websites which simply take the money and leave consumers with nothing to show for it. At least you did get your Esta. Under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act you are eligible for a refund for breach of contract, but your transaction is below the £100 limit. Talk to your credit card company and explain what has happened.
To help others, report this website to Action Fraud, online or (if you are in the UK) on 0300 123 2040. It is interested in any of these websites where they are charging for more than just the basic service ... fraud or not. It will then be passed to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau to see if it can be used as part of a police investigation.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations
By Claudia Looi 2 Comments
Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.
Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.
Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.
The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean
To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow. Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.
The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:
1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.
2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.
10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.

An excellent read! Thanks for much for sharing the Russian metro system with us. We're heading to Moscow in April and exploring the metro stations were on our list and after reading your post, I'm even more excited to go visit them. Thanks again 🙂

When is Eid al-Fitr 2024 and how is it celebrated?
The three-day festival celebrates the completion of the fasting month of Ramadan by Muslims across the world.
As a new moon was not sighted on Monday evening after Maghrib prayers, Muslims in Saudi Arabia and neighbouring countries will fast one more day, completing 30 days of Ramadan. The first day of Eid will then be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10.
The first day of Eid al-Fitr is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon marking the start of the month of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic (Hijri) calendar.

A ramadan no palestinian will ever forget, the cost of a ramadan iftar meal around the world, ramadan 2024: where do your dates come from, in washington, dc: celebrating ramadan, protesting israel’s siege of gaza.
Lunar months last between 29 and 30 days so Muslims usually have to wait until the night before Eid to verify its date.
Other countries follow independent sightings.
When the sighting has been verified, Eid is declared on television, radio stations and at mosques.
How do Muslims celebrate Eid?
Traditionally, Eid is celebrated for three days as an official holiday in Muslim-majority countries. However, the number of holiday days varies by country.
Muslims begin Eid day celebrations by partaking in a prayer service that takes place shortly after dawn, followed by a short sermon.
On their way to the prayer, which is traditionally held in an open area, Muslims recite takbeerat, praising God by saying “Allahu Akbar”, meaning “God is great”.
It is customary to eat something sweet before the prayer, such as date -filled biscuits known as maamoul in the Middle East. This particular festival is known as the “sweet” Eid – and the distribution of sweets is common across the Muslim world.
Muslims usually spend the day visiting relatives and neighbours and accepting sweets as they move around from house to house.
Each country has traditional desserts and sweets that are prepared before Eid or on the morning of the first day.
Children, dressed in new clothes, are offered gifts and money to celebrate the joyous occasion.
Girls and women in many countries decorate their hands with henna. The celebration for Eid begins the night before as women gather in neighbourhoods and large family gatherings for the application of henna.
In some countries, families visit graveyards to offer their respects to departed family members right after the morning prayers.
It is common for Muslim-majority countries to decorate their cities with lights and hold festivities to commemorate the end of the fasting month.
Eid amid the onslaught in Gaza
For some 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza this Eid, this will be the first Muslim religious holiday after more than 33,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks. With little food aid, and very limited water, Gaza’s Eid al-Fitr will be mired in destruction amid the continuing attacks.
What are common Eid greetings?
The most popular greeting is “Eid Mubarak” (Blessed Eid) or “Eid sa’id” (Happy Eid). Eid greetings also vary depending on the country and language.
The video below shows how people say Eid Mubarak in different languages around the world.
